Working Title: Meteor.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience: Twenty to thirty-somethings of an upper middle-class background, being
feasibly capable of throwing a successful dinner party. The appeal to this demographic
would be by showcasing common and relatable problemsthat such people face, borne
from the struggle of early adulthood. Extendable to younger and older age groups because
of the comedic content, as well asmore niche demographics due to the film’s semi-silent
format.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words): Throughout the year I have gained a greater understanding
of what I am capable of in a production sense. I am aware of the limits of my current skill
level, and the efforts needed to effectively and efficiently create what is needed for the
project to succeed. As such, I have decided to forego more overt special effects for a more
practical and sustainable product, focusing more on the subtler elementsinstead of flashy,
dazzling accessories. To accomplish this I have been refreshed on the necessary tools
needed to properly perform these tasks, whether they be digital programs or technical,
tangible objects like filming cameras.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words): The idea at its core is a simplistic slice-of-life story,
with an added dose of impending doom, that bases itself in the simple comedy of trying to
successfully plan and put together a friendly gathering. The main focus of the film is the
contrast between the occurrences within and without the residence that the main action is
taking place in, and drawing humour from the somewhat dense main character and their
blasé towards the events just outside their door. The main source of the humour comes
from their efforts to properly complete their task, and the small troubles tha t they
experience while trying to make things work out in their favour, such as becoming
distracted by other small inanities. Shot within a minimalistic space, only a few extra props
and resources would be needed, as everything is provided for within the location. Due to
focusing on a single character right up until the end, the focus is on them and their
reactions to their surroundings, and how the environment slowly shifts in certain places
over the course of the film, whether that be preparations growing wrong or a large incident
outside the domain.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words): While shot simplistically in a single-camera
format, the focus on the main character would change angles and distances to showcase
different scenes. It would need to be filmed in a way that would make it more conducive to
editing, and the sounds required would be easily replicable with the right tools available,
depending on what kind of actions were scripted. No special effects would be required
other than maybe some abnormal lighting to hint at the outside environment, which can be
edited in with post-production and the appropriate software. In order to effectively sell the
comedy of the situation, full use of the space available must be accomplished, in order for
there to be a greater range in comedic action, and to display the best angles that can be
acquired. The best way to sell the content of the film is to maintain a realistic premise, if an
outlandish one, with as few unrealistic additions as possible, grounding the final product

with conventional reality more effectively.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
Evaluation (approx. 50 words): The final evaluation shall be conducted on how well the final
product matches up with the plans made, and the overall quality of the final piece in
question. My own personal evaluation shall be conducted on how well I carry out and
implement the techniques that I have in mind, as well as how I progressed compared to
previous projects.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
