The document proposes a short horror film called "Locked" targeting younger audiences aged 16-24. It will feature a good character locked in a room by a bad character with a bomb timer building tension. The good character will eventually break free but still be under the bad character's control, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger. Filming will use cameras and bomb prop with timer. Post-production will add sound effects to build tension. The work will be evaluated by analyzing techniques used in each scene.

I believe the main target audience is younger people, this being of the ages 16-24, this is as they
are more interested in the thrill seeking and violent nature that is included in most horror films. The
gender of my target audience is both, as males may seem to be more interested in horror films but
I believe there is a narrow gap between the amount that each gender is interested, therefore I
should target both in order to widen my target audience as well as not make people disinterested.
The social status of my target audience would mainly be C1C2DE as these are typically more
interested in the horror genre due to the nature of the films, as these films may put off people in
the higher classes, A & B. The psychographic I will aim at is emulator/wanna be’s as these will be
interested in the story of over coming an enemy and a problem.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I think my progress as been good, I think I have learnt skills that will help me
in this project, as in the first project of the year I learnt how to use Adobe Premier Pro to edit
videos and as well as editing the audio to go with the video, the other subjects have also helped
due to the use of sound effects I the video game project, as I can maybe make similar sound
effects and put them in using techniques I used in that project.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My short film is going to be a horror based film, this will start with a scene of a bad character being
shown as in control and dominant over a good character, leading to the bad character leaving the
good character locked up in a room with a dangerous situation, I am currently thinking of a bomb,
and this will be shown every now and again during the film, as there will be a timer on this which
builds up tension towards a certain point, eventually the good character will break free of whatever
constraints that the bad character had left him in, this most likely being the main character being
tied up and left in a locked room, but just when you think it’s all over and the story has a happy
ending, you are left on a cliff-hanger as the bad character still has the god character under control,
this will be through either him reappearing, or through the bad character being clever and leaving
more obstacles for the good character to overcome, these obstacles may be impossible, and this
is how the film will end, leaving the audience on a cliff-hanger.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
No specialist equipment, apart from camera’s and maybe certain props - these props that are
needed for my film include a bomb prop, with a timer, as this builds the tension and slo covers the
part of the brief which states that there must be a clock or watch included in the film, will be
needed to complete this film, the techniques needed are those in the film rather than any green
screen’s or anything similar, as well as this I will need to post produce the sound of the film, this is
better for a horror film as it means you can build up tension easier, as you can choose which
sounds to build up, for example in a lot of horror films this works well with footsteps, or creaks in
the floorboards. No specialist training or demo’s will be needed as there will just be a simple set-up
where I intend to film.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate the work in separate parts, I will look at all scenes and break down what
happens and what techniques are used in order to draw the audience in, as well as this I will
evaluate a lot of editing and post-production techniques, this includes sound and any effects I may
have put onto the footage.
