2. Front Cover Process
The first thing I had to manage when creating
the front cover was the layers of images. I had to
manage this to make sure all images/text was at
the front and the background image(cover) was
behind everything else.
When using text, I had to make sure that it was
both easy to read and also stood out when you
look at it. This can be done by taking advantage
of the colours and the size of the text. The title
must stand out especially so the brand is more
noticable
The image choices also used must be picked
precisely. You must use brands that will stand
out to a customer so they will gain interest and
want to buy the magazine. I can also use the
most interesting stories in the magazine on the
cover to increase interest towards customers.
3. Reflection
• The thing I will most likely include in my final magazine design is the positioning of the headlines/images
as I believe they will both stand out in their current positions and if I include the most interesting stories
possible on the front cover it will be successful in gaining interest for my target market. I can also improve
this by improving my image choice to stand out from the background and making it more fitting overall. I
can also improve the text fonts and colours to make it stand out more to a customer so they want to
purchase it.
• I would also keep a similar style of background as I believe it catches a customers interest due to the topic
of the magazine and background having a good connection with each other and it will make them gain
interest in the magazine and will want to read more.
• I would also need to keep the barcode and price tag as they must be on all magazine covers. This could
also be used to create interest because if the magazine is cheap, you can use the price on the cover to
encourage people to buy the magazine.
4. Double Page Process
For all the text I have taken a copy of ‘Lorem
Ipsum’ as a placeholder for text that will go in
the final magazine copy. This is used to
display ideas for fonts that could be used in
the final product and also shows text size that
can be used to include good amounts of detail
without being excessive.
I have then also included images to go next to
the text, this is to give a more visual example
of the explanation/story going on through the
writing. I can also use big brand names that
people will easily know to attract attention to
the customer and influence them to purchase
the magazine.
Finally I have included a bold headline so if a
customer was to quickly look through the
pages I can put the most interesting story
there for the customer to see first.
5. Reflection
• The first element I will use in my final magazine cover is the headlines. These can be used to make the
magazine look much more interesting if used correctly, this is done through including the best story as the
headline which will make the customer want to read this page. It can also be used to make the page look
more appealing if you match the headline with the rest of the page well.
• I would also like to keep some elements of use of images in my double page spread, this is because
including large brands it will attract people who want to hear news about these sources. I will need to
change this so I need to take some of the pictures in person while still keeping the appeal of the pictures
currently used.
• I would also like to keep some elements of the text. One example is the size of the text. This is because
with this text size, as long as the images are a appropriate size I can include lots of relevant information
without having to be excessive with more, pointless information which does not serve purpose to the
headline or story being told.
