2. Masthead:
Used the text tool to
type, I changed the font
and colour with the task
bar that expanded from
the text tool.
Feature article
Photo:
I uploaded this from
my camera and
resized it to fit an A4
page. The photo is of
a school student in
the library, this is
relevant to one of my
main articles in the
magazine.
Cover line:
I used the text tool
to write this, I
changed the
typography with
the task bar.
Tone & Mode of
Address:
I chose to make the
magazine look
sophisticated with the
use of the feature
article photo yet
informative with the
use of different
punctuation and simple
cover lines. Style:
I made the magazine
for easy reading that
is interesting for the
students of the
school.
3. If I were to do the project again what would I do to
improve it?
• I would make the magazine more eye catching and colourful to draw the buyers
attention to my magazine.
• I would use different conventions on my front cover so that it is more interesting,
like the Q magazine and other magazines that are already out for purchase.
• I could make a specific colour scheme that will run throughout my magazine and
have a meaning.
• I would select my feature article photo to fit a category of the tone I want to give
to my audience, I will pose the character to fit a criteria.
• I could connote more with the difference of my feature article photo and my text.

typography
4. Typography:
The text and colour
scheme are the same as
that of the front cover,
this increases the
professionalism of the
magazine.
School Logo:
Used to make a link
between the magazine
and the demographic of
the magazine, the logo
is recognisable for the
readers.
House Style:
I’ve used different cases
of text, some upper and
lower cases spread
around the page when
it is needed, I have used
informal language and
excessive use of
punctuation to
emphasise the
articles.
Page Numbers:
Main articles are
highlighted on this page
with their page
numbers for quick
reference.
Article Info:
Short paragraphs
describing what’s in the
article on that particular
page.
5. If I were to do the project again what would I do to
improve it?
• I could include more articles and a wider overview of pages in the magazine.
• I could also include pictures that relate to the articles in order to fill negative
space.
• The use of a different colour scheme in order for the magazine to be more
appealing to a wider group of pupils from the school.
• I could include articles that will attract different types of groups from the school,
such as the novelty geeks, ‘it’ group, nerds etc.
• Advertisements would make for good space users and will attract the readers to
different areas of the magazine, people are more likely to buy a magazine if they
get what they want from it.
• I should fit the text properly so that it is legible for all readers, it cannot be too
small or stretched.
6. The select and move
tool is what I used to
arrange the structure of
my magazine.
The transparency tool
enables you to select a
colour and erase it from
the image on the screen. I
however did not use this
tool to make my school
magazine.
The text tool allowed
to type the words on
my magazine, from
this tool you can
change the font and
colour of the text,
along with the size.
The zoom tool is useful when
doing detailed work on
photoshop, you can zoom in
and out of the views.
The pipette tool lets you choose
a specific colour that’s on the
screen, I didn’t use this tool in
my school magazine though.
This tool enables you to choose
what colour you’re using and
you’re able to easily change this
colour.
This is the lasso tool, it
allows you to select round
an object on the image and
delete it, move it or delete
what’s outside the selected
object.
This tool allows you to
crop around an image,
it is not a complex tool
however.
The erase tool has different
sizes which allows you to
control what you erase.
This tool makes simple
shapes to place onto
your image.
