2. Research.
Overall I believe that my research was able to help me improve my product overall. This is because it
helped me discover what my target market was and helped me create the best product for my best
audience possible.
I was also able to research what makes a documentary successful and i was able to apply these elements
to my own production.
I was also able to learn about some of the equipment that was used to develop similar styles of
production, giving me a better understanding of the tools that I needed to create a successful production.
3. Planning.
I believe my planning was successful, but in the future needs to be further developed so it can help me
further with my production.
With my planning I was able to create a successful script, storyboard and production schedule. These all
helped me significantly when creating my production, as they reduced the amount of time needed to
finalise my production.
The production schedule is one thing I would improve, as I did not stay in the times I gave myself, so in
the future I would develop the production schedule further to encourage me to stay to it better, which will
help me create a better product in the future.
4. What went well.
Overall, I believe my production went well. I was able to include everything I wanted to in the time the
documentary needed to be (three minutes). There were some limitations with what I wanted to create, but
I had some contingency plans which helped lessen those issues significantly.
I believe the camerawork was at a good standard, despite dealing with limitations with the equipment I had
to film with. The same applies to animation, as the time limitations were a big issue, but I believe the
product I created with the animation was successful.
5. What I would improve.
If I were to make a similar production to this again, there are multiple things I would improve. The first
thing I would improve is the camerawork, this is because of the limitations given as I had to film at home,
which made me struggle to fix any lighting issues and I also could not use a green screen as originally
planned.
I would also dedicate more time towards the animation as it was very basic due to the time given for
production, in the future I would probably limit the amount of animation I do as it is very time consuming
which can be a big problem for these productions.
The final problem I would like to improve on is time management. As I need to dedicate more time into
each section of my research, planning and production in the future, because it gave me many limitations
for what I could do and could be significantly improved for a overall more successful product.
6. Audience appeal.
I believe that my documentary was able to reach its target market well. This is because of the short nature
of the documentary, not requiring much of the audiences time, and since most students are busy a lot of
the time, this short style of documentary would be good for them. As the documentary also includes lots of
information, I feel like this broadens the target market, creating a bigger audience.
I also included lots of visually pleasing transitions as well, to improve the final product and make it more
enjoyable for any audience watching. These were only used as transitions as they did not include
information, not making them very relevant for any other purpose.
