Aircraft Icing
Introduction Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with the
general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times,
although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and
mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It
is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are
so varied. Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories. Environmental
conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the
current and forecast weather conditions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also issued 18 airworthiness directives for all pilots operating small commuter aircraft, instructing
them on how to recognize and respond to dangerous icing conditions. (Krock, 2004, 4). As a step to
resolve icing accident investigations the FAA has issued airworthiness directives for aviation operators
such as: Monitoring ice build up, and getting out of icing conditions if the buildup is unusually high,
on anti icing equipment sooner rather than later, avoid abrupt and excessive maneuvering that may
exacerbate control difficulties, do not extend flaps when holding in icing conditions (which can reduce
angle of attack), If flaps are extended, do not retract until the airframe is clear of ice, and report icing
conditions to ATC. (Holzapfel, 2000, 9). Aircraft icing is closely studied in wind tunnels, although it is
very difficult for them to simulate different icing conditions. Such icing research is conducted at John
H. Glenn Research Center using the Icing Research Tunnel, the largest refrigerated icing tunnel in the
world, and the Twin Otter icing research aircraft. New techniques are also under investigation for
testing subscale components in icing tunnels. A new area of interest is in the field of remote detection
of icing condition. This could encompass technologies utilizing ground based, in flight, or satellite
mounted detection methods (Potapczuk, 6). Goodrich has come up with a high tech solution to the
problem of detecting ice on aircraft

Chuck Close Research Paper
Chuck Close essay Chuck Close the famous artist known for his unusual style of painting called
Contemporary art once said Inspiration is for amateurs which means you paint what you see you dont
get inspiration from anyone you just paint. Contemporary art was produced at the present period in
time. Contemporary art includes, and develops from, older art, which is itself a success to modern art.
One of Chuck Close s most famous paintings is his big self portrait of himself in 1968 which was 107
½ × 83 ½ × 2 inches. Chuck Close was born on July 5, 1940 in Monroe, Washington. His father,
Leslie Durward Close, was a sheet metal worker, and his mother Mildred Wagner was a trained
pianist. Chuck Close s hobbies as a kid where painting and art. Suffering from severe dyslexia, Close
did poorly in school but found happiness in making art. After earning his MFA from Yale in 1964,
Close turned out to be one of the most famous American art world by creating large scale, photorealist

In the immediate after of the incident, Close was left almost entirely paralyzed. Eventually, after
rounds of physical therapy, Close, who became permanently confined to a wheelchair, regained the
partial use of his limbs as he could barely move parts of his arms. He overcame these issues by going
through a lot of physical therapy and eventually he could paint but he had to put his arm under his
hand and slowly move his hand around.
In conclusion Chuck Close is a very important person to learn about because he went through so many
challenges that many people would just give up and never do anything to fix it but Chuck Close
overcame all of these challenges and became what he is today one of the most well known artists in
America. Chuck Close is an inspiration to all of us and his methods are used everyday in classrooms

The Consumer Assistance For Recycle And Save Act ( Cars )
The Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act (CARS), otherwise known as Cash for Clunkers ,
was a $3 billion U.S. program introduced by Representative Betty Sutton from Ohio. Additionally, the
bill was co sponsored by Representative Bradley of Iowa and Representative Miller of Michigan. The
sponsors of the bill believed the initiative would accelerate motor fuel savings nationwide and provide
incentives to registered owners of high polluting automobiles to replace such automobiles with new
fuel efficient and less polluting automobiles... (Sutton).
The bill was introduced during a period of economic recession and was believed to be a boost to
American auto manufacturers who were, besides Ford Motor Company, struggling with high debts ...

Now that the program has ended, data extrapolated and calculated, and in conjunction with our best
presumptions regarding H.R. 1550, our primary focus is to evaluate said data and conclude whether or
not the policy should be implemented again. We speculate the Cash for Clunkers program was
successful and helpful to the consumer as a whole.
Cash for Clunkers was never intended to be a long term solution to the economic recession; it was
meant to provide a catalyst for short term recovery in an attempt to boost the economy through
spending and the creation of jobs. The economic theory behind the program was that by increasing
consumer spending, secondary factors would inherently improve as a result of increase in demand via
Trickle Down theory. The program was also meant to be a stimulus to the automotive industry.
According to The Economist, the intent was a jump start the consumption of durable goods, a boost
the hard hit car industry, and an improvement in the fuel efficiency of America s fleet (The
Economist). But, many organizations, such as aftermarket parts suppliers and auto body paint
companies, opposed the program. Organizations such as these would lose producer surplus since new
vehicles would be covered under manufacturer warranties. The older vehicles were required to be
disabled and the parts melted down.
Initially and throughout implementation, the economists responsible for the

Micro Loans in Developing Countries: Can Micro Loans help in Reduce Poverty
The word poverty came from the Anglo Norman word povert. Poverty is predominantly seen in the
developing nations. Poverty is a where people lack their basic capacity to participate effectively in
society i.e. Not having enough money to provide food and clothes to their family, not being able to
work and earn for themselves. There are many reasons for poverty in developing countries some of
them include overpopulation, uneven distribution of resources ,lack of education, environmental

Microloan is one of the popular and effective method of reducing the poverty supported by all the
countries of the world especially the developing countries. This is an inspirational story started by a
common man in late 1970 s looking at the extreme poverty in his country. Micro loans or Micro
Financing was first started by Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh. He started an Organisation called
Grameen Bank. The Grameen Bank provides small loans without collateral to small group of
borrowers. This small financing group later grew to large micro financing organisation by lending
money to thousands of people in the world. With the inspiration of Grameen Banks in Bangladesh
several small micro financing institutions sprang up around the world and a new movement called
International Microfinance Movement began in all the major continents of the world.
Micro financing organisations are increasing worldwide with variable interest rates depending on the
economic condition of the country. With the increasing technology accessing microloans has been

Chaco Canyon Building Argumentative Analysis
The author states that there are three competing theories about how Chaco Canyon building was used
and provides three reasons. In contrast, The professor states that none of the arguments is convincing
and he opposes each of the author s reasons. First, the article states that one theory holds that the
Chaco structure were purely residential. However, the professor refutes this point by saying that the
building from the outside looks like American apartments, but from inside, we will cast a dout about
that because of a lot of people used to live in it, there should be enough fire places. He said on of the

Life Of David Hale And Dead Man Walking
Mahatma Gandhi once said Truth stands, even if there is no public support. It is self sustained. Life of
David Gale directed by Alan Parker, and Dead Man Walking by Tim Robbins are both films about
redemption. The men in both films had no support from their society, until they contacted someone to
listen to their story. The films have different approaches on how to redeem the main characters.Life of
David Gale and Dead Man Walking have similarities and differences. In Life of David Gale, David
Gale was about a professor at the University of Boston. David was accused of the rape and murder of
his partner Constance Harraway, and was put on death row. In reality David was completely innocent.
David and Constance were protesters of the death penalty. David also had a special bond with his son,
whom he lost to his wife in a custody battle. David did not want his son to know his father as a rapist
and murderer,so when he was on death row, he contacted a reporter named Bitsey Bloom.David
shared his whole story with Bitsey, which led Bitsey to believe that David was innocent.Bitsey was
given anonymous evidence, which proved David Gale s innocence, but she was too late. David Gale
was executed, for no law binding reason. David said in the film Death is a gift. Not afraid of death,
David Gale sought redemption in the eyes of his son.
Dead Man Walking was film based on a true story. Matthew Poncele was also accused of rape and
murder. Matthew was guilty and confessed to his

Society s Unconscious Response Of Health And Illness
Society s unconscious response to health and illness
An important next step will be to re establish and anchor in trust in ourselves, and there is no better
opportunity to test our trust than the fear generated by social beliefs and the media reports surrounding
health and dis ease.
I would like to share an example of societies belief systems that surround dis ease with the relevant
points of a recent therapy session with a client.
My client who had been diagnosed with a life threatening dis ease (for the second time) arrived for a
Therapy session.
As we began to talk, she had a look of uncertainty on her face, unsure of how to express, in sensible
terms, what she had been experiencing and feeling since her diagnosis .
You are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, earlier that day she had shared her thoughts with a close family member, she expressed her
need to talk to her body and love her illness away. She also shared that she really needed to listen to
her inner feelings.
The family member was horrified, that s it she said you ve given up , you have to Fight this thing , you
must Fight it , was her panicked response.
This reaction did not surprise me in the slightest; it is a reflection of the unbalanced views we have
regarding health, illness and our bodies.
Our lives are filled with fear regarding dis ease. Will I be next? The statistics state me, or someone in
my family will defiantly be struck by serious illness.
The TV adverts appear to be ever increasing, filled with fear of what will happen to your family when
you are taken by a dis ease, children are even shown saying goodbye to a parent, I have seen a baby
used to highlight a dis ease. These adverts and the frequent messages we are given regarding dis ease,
is ironically, very unhealthy.
You will notice I am not naming specific dis eases, the names/words carry a vibration and we don t
need the vibration of a dis ease and the energy it carries in this book or affecting you as you read.
Therefore we can happily leave the names out.
Just remember at all times what DIS EASE means, dis ease within the body, it is far less frightening
and leaves the door wide open to go from DIS ease to EASE.
The stance society takes on

Rhetoric Theories And Their Impact On The Pre Modern...
The History of Rhetoric Theories and Their Impact on the Pre modern Discourse Rhetoric is the art of
discourse that is aimed at improving the speakers or writers ability to motivate, persuade and inform
audience in specific situations. Rhetoric has played a central role in European tradition as a subject of
productive civil practice and formal study. Rhetoric provides heuristics for developing, discovering
and understanding arguments for particular situations. The five canons of rhetoric which were first
coded in classical Rome help a speaker to design a persuasive speech. The five canons of rhetoric are
delivery, memory, style, arrangement and invention (Blake, 2009). Alongside dialectic and grammar,
rhetoric is one of the ancient arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Greek rhetoric was extended by certain Romanian rhetoricians such as Quintilian and Cicero.
Although the ancient classical rhetoric theory was basically concerned with oratory and to improve
public speech, it was also meant to influence writing instructions. During the roman time for example,
a process of composing a speech had evolved. The stages that were involved included discovering or
inventing, organizing or arranging the ideas and putting them into words that enticed the public or
audience. Of the ancient rhetoric, Aristotle is recognized for making a great contribution to the
rhetorical theories which have formed the basis of today s communication. Aristotle due to his
contribution became known as the Father of Speech Communication (Sloane, 2001). In his rhetoric,
Aristotle addressed the role of audience, speaker and the speech itself within the three pillars; logos,
pathos and ethos. In ethos, Aristotle shows that before delivering the message, the audience must first
accept the speaker s credibility and worthiness of delivering that message. In pathos, the message must
have the quality of persuasion that attracts the audience s emotions. This means that the speaker s
message should evoke the feelings of love, compassion, sympathy or fear. In logos, Aristotle shows
that the message should make sense and should be based on facts, evidence or statistics. Classical
rhetoric divides oratories

The Element Of Criminal Liability
Introduction
Crime can be defined as an action or omission that can is constituted as an offence, going against the
values of society and is an act which is punishable by law with either a fine, imprisonment or
whatever punishment fits the nature of the crime. In this report there will be a discussion on the two
element on criminal liability which are as followed Mens Rea (guilty mind) and Actus Reus (guilty
act). Different components constitute these elements and are used to make up a crime. However there
have been cases were the use of mens rea has very minimal effect and actus reus is the only element
proven in the offence. For example; Rape even though it is considered a serious offence, there have
been incidents were lack of consent was applicable to the crime as the person may have been induced
to object to force, fear or fraud and the accused would have mentally believed that the victim had
consent hence lacking the mens rea element and continuing the sexual penetration which is the actus
reus component of the offence. This report will also cover the defences to mens rea (intoxication,
mental impairment and infancy and also defences to actus reus (self defence, consent, execution of the
law and misadventure/ mere accident) as well as strict liability in reference to the elements required
for a crime and a table identifying offence/s present in the given scenario.

The Moldau Essay
Connie Ju | [The Moldau] Smetana | Year 11 Music 2 Musicology Essay |

Smetana s Moldau is a musical portrayal of the main river which runs through the countryside of
Bohemia (present day Czech Republic).
The piece begins with a sweet one bar theme that is played by two solo flutes, representing the trickle
of a small creek. The soft melody played in piano and lusingando , which means to be played in a
coaxing style, convey the delicate and smoothness of the water. The ascending semi quavers
accompanied with a slight crescendo at the beginning of the phrase as well as a two quaver rests at the
end of the bar create a rippling effect, symbolising the slight waves of a stream. Furthermore, the lone
plucked pizzicato quavers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The polyphonic texture consists of two major layers and the randomly placed pizzicato chords which
are a reminder of water s unpredictable motions.
Bar 16 (flutes, clarinets, strings polyphonic texture)
The two small rivers that make up the larger Moldau meets at bar 28 where the clarinets stop for a bar
and the violas begin their melody. This short bar acts as a bridge, the connection where the bodies of
water finally merge to create a great river. The bigger river in bar 29 is conveyed by the three different
layers, flutes, clarinets, and violas. Continuous semi quavers that rise and fall in pitch still represent
the fluidity and continuity of the water but now the extra layer means that the river is wilder with
bigger waves and other movements. Bar 28 (melodies played by flutes and strings) Bar 29 30 (flutes,
clarinets, viola)
Bar 36 sees even more layers as the strings begin to play the flowing melody of the river. The start of
the larger body of water is indicated by a strong perfect cadence by the lower strings (bar 36). At the
widest point of the river, bar 40, the whole orchestra plays. All the instruments playing together
expresses the notion that this is the climax of the river and it is wildest at this point. The wind
instruments, however, play a slower melody of

Fair Value Accounting And Financial Reporting
Introduction
In today s businesses, there has been an increase in the demand for financial reporting and also, the
need to have reliable measurements of fair value and its disclosures. The need for reliable information
has caused continuous change to accounting policies which has posed a challenge not only to
management of companies, but also to auditors. The frequent changes in accounting principles pose a
challenge for managers in measuring accounting estimates accurately and are an exceedingly difficult
task. Fair value accounting is a financial reporting approach in which companies are required to
measure and report on an ongoing basis certain assets and liabilities at estimates of the prices they
would receive if they were to sell the assets or would pay if they were to settle their liabilities. Under
fair value accounting, companies report losses when the fair values of their assets decrease or
liabilities increase. Those losses reduce companies reported equity and may also reduce companies
reported net income.
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) also defines fair value as the price that would
be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market
participants at the measurement date . According to these definitions, fair value is an unrealistic,
idealized qualitative value. The current market value is a quantitative value and it does not fully reflect
the value of assets when the markets are not

Halloween Research Papers
Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween, and it affects people of all ages and ethnicities. When a fear,
even a fear that starts off as rational, becomes intense and irrational to the point one goes into shock or
cannot think it is considered a phobia. This particular phobia is one of the more common phobias, but
it can still be fairly hard to diagnose. Samhainophobia is thought to affect eleven percent of people. To
truly understand why this fear affects so many different people and age groups, it is imperative that
one understands the history behind Halloween as well as the reasons behind fear itself and how it
affects people, what treatments are effective and available to the general public.
The fear of Halloween can stem from a dislike or fear of the holiday s history. The root word of
samhainophobia is Samhain, which is a Celtic word meaning summer s end. They celebrated Samhain
with huge bonfires where crops and animals were sacrificed. The Celts believed that on Samhain the
veil between the land of the living and dead was thin, which allowed for ghost, spirits, and the devil
himself to pass through to the land of the living. It was also believed the Druids the Celts priest could

Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth
In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his
viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of
wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more
knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint
Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting from
provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United States of America retaliated by engaging in
a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A New Egalitarian
Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been treated inadequately
starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to strive for equality across
the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the author relates an experience of
a black man who had received higher education and as a result could no longer live in complacency
with his lower status in society in order to urge the African Americans of the time period to go to
college and receive education themselves.

characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his drug

Essay on Thomas Malthus Section Summary
Thomas Malthus Section Summary Malthus work, Essay on the Principle of Population, is often cited,
first by Darwin himself, to have influenced Darwin s conception of the theory of natural selection. His
work, though unpopular, and often proven to be off the mark, did in fact bring to the forefront many
socio economic issues that are still being debated today: population control, food production and
concerns over uncontrollable diseases arising from the effects of over population. In this passage it is
stated that Malthus was proven wrong: ...Malthus dire predictions have proven to be wrong...
(Efficiency and Equity 211). However, though his calculations have proven to be wrong because he
could not accurately account for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, Malthus did not correctly identify the growth in family size as a reflexive response to
economic necessity.
Question Two The argument that Malthus set growth rates of food in relation to population ignored the
role of food prices is accurate. In fact, by using set rates only in relation to each other, he ignored
much more than food prices. In an artificial economy established in an economic lab such set ratios
can be accurately predictive. However, in the natural environment, there are many external factors that
would affect change on his model, and did affect change. Prices are a key oversight in his theory.
While the basic premise that population growth may outstrip the growth in food productivity was true
based on the circumstances within which he operated, he didn t account for the economics of food
productivity to drive an increase in production worldwide that offset any local market conditions and
shortages in supply. In yet another respect, the role of food prices may depress population growth in
that if food

Peanuts History
1950: First Peanuts cartoon strip. On October 2, 1950, Charles M. Schulz had his very first Peanuts
comic strip published in a U.S. newspaper. It was one of the first comic strips ever, and one of the first
ones to blow up so fast. Peanuts became a major part of daily lives and it was eventually made into
films that are played every year. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas there is a Peanuts movie that
plays for each of those holidays. Kids these days are even introduced to a new version of Peanuts with
the 2015 film that came out last year. Peanuts was pretty much everywhere and is still here to this day,
and frankly with the new movie I don t see it dying any time soon.

Essay On English 312
Research Goal During the undergraduate career many english major s will encounter a course in
which they focus on a specific time period of literature. English 317: British Literature 1500 1700 is
one such course. English 317 is designed to allow students the freedom and flexibility to identify and
formulate questions for productive inquiry, to evaluate sources for credibility, bias, quality of
evidence, and quality of reasoning, and to use citation methods and structures appropriate to their field
of study (UWP English Department). These course goals identical to the UW English Department s
Research goal. It is because this course focuses on a time period in which no living being is yet alive

While looking into these several types of plays I was able to accumulate enough information to
effectively argue that there is a separate treatment of women versus men who accept deals with the
devil in return for magical powers. This claim is designed to display that the bias between gender is
prevalent enough to allow the use of satanic pacts and devil magic to become acceptable for men in
certain instances but not for women. Through this idea I had to comb through many resources that
would help defend my argument. This being said, I had to chose carefully and effectively what sources
I included in my paper. In order to do this I had to evaluate sources for credibility, bias, quality of
evidence, and quality of reasoning, a requirement of the English Department s research goal. The best

How Do Ants Carry So Many Times Their Weight
Surface area to Volume
Introduction
As an IB biology student, I came across an interesting topic related to the relationship between surface
area and volumes during an experiment. The idea came to me while my classmates and I were
experimenting on agar cubes to investigate the effect of increasing cube sizes on the amount of
diffusion into the cubes. Then, I thought, how do ants carry objects that are much heavier and bigger
than their bodies?
The answer lies in the insect s small body. First, you need to understand a few basic measurements of
size, mass, and strength: The strength of a muscle is proportional to the surface area of its cross
section. Surface area is a two dimensional measurement, and is proportional to the square of its length.
Volume is a three dimensional measurement, and is proportional to the cube of its length.
Concisely, smaller organisms will always have bigger strength to weight ratios, because it s the
surface area of the muscle cross section that determines strength, but the volume of the animal that (all
else being equal) determines mass. A tiny ant has a strength advantage because of the ratio of surface
area to volume. An ant only has to lift a small measure of its own weight relative to the strength of its
muscles.
Figure 1. Ant carrying a dandelion seed bigger than its body
Imagine three cubes, each of a length of 2cm, 5cm, and 10cm. The 2cm cube has a cross sectional area
of 2×2=4〖cm〗^2and a volume of 2×2×2=8〖cm〗^3. The 5cm cube has a

Angela Merkel Research Paper
Merkel was born in Hamburg, Germany to a Lutheran pastor father and a Latin and English teacher
mother. After her birth, her family moved to communist East Germany, then known as the German
Democratic Republic. In the same year Merkel s family moved east, 20,000 other Germans fled west.
It was her time under a communist regime where, she gathered the qualities cultivated as a necessity
in the East patience, blandness, intellectual rigor and an inconspicuous but ferocious drive and
changed not only her life but the course of history (Vick).
Merkel became involved in politics as a youth, joining Germany s Young Pioneers and Free German
Youth in the 1960s. The group was technically voluntary but, for children in the east, it was practically
necessary if you wanted to be accepted into any university. In 1973, Angela began studding physics at

The Importance Of A Musician And A Fine Artist
Two careers that the Focus 2 Assessment claims would be a satisfactory fit for me include a musician
and a fine artist. For both of these occupations, I would be more than willing to deliberate about taking
up either of them in the future, taking into consideration that I am currently a performing musician. I
also have plentiful experience in the visual arts as well, so I could imagine being a fine artist as well.
Both jobs include doing things I enjoy to a great extent. A musician is an individual who typically
plays an instrument, but numerous musicians may also compose music, direct ensembles, or teach.
Demand in musician positions is expected to grow by about 5% until 2022, which is slower than the
average growth for other occupations. Musicians need continuous training to maintain skills,
knowledge, and the ability to interpret music. Much of this training can be achieved through colleges,
universities, and musical conservatories. Typically, this training culminates in a variety of bachelor
degrees, including Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Business. Participation in some
sort of musical ensemble is pertinent while studying to become a musician. Skills that are typically
required of musicians include troubleshooting, experience in the performing arts, manual dexterity,
managing time, listening, and decision making. The salary for musicians is typically around $45,000 a
year. However, this can vary between musicians due to short term contracts or working

of an overpopulated foreign workforce raised many concerns in both the public and social sphere. risk
of higher crime rates and lower property values. While labour force injections as a means to drive

Lung Cancers And Its Effects
INTRODUCTION
What are lung cancers? Lung cancers are the abnormal cells which grow in uncontrolled manner in
one or both lungs. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung
tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions of the lung
(Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely non small cell
lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be further classified into
three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma
(Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray, computerised tomography
(CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography (PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy
and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often diagnosed at the later stages. This is
due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at the earlier stages. NSCLC are often
diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at
stage IV. Lung cancer usually originates from the cells lining the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.
Carcinogens especially tobacco smoke will alter the gene expression of the normal human lung cells,
resulting in cell mutation. The proto oncogenes will be converted to mutated form, oncogenes.
Mutation leads to the decreased expression of the tumour suppressor genes. This results in
uncontrolled cell proliferation, cell

Eat Pray Love
I have read the book named Eat Pray Love by Elisabeth Gilbert. The book has 346 pages and it was
published in Great Britain 2006.
Elizabeth M. Gilbert was born on July 18 1969. She is an American author from Waterbury,

She grew up on a small family Christmas tree farm with no neighbors and no television. When
Elisabeth and her older sister moved to New York they entertained themselves by writing plays and
books.
Elisabeth has been working as a cook, a waitress, and a magazine employee. Gilberts best known book

Elisabeth is a very nice person, thoughtful and probably very funny. She has blond hair and is

has finally found a balance in her life. I can t really find any things she dislikes because she is such a
nice person.
I think the book was good. It was kind of dramatic. She told about her life while traveling which is
probably really nice. The text was sometimes a bit hard to read, but for most of the time it was really
interesting. I wouldn t really suggest the book to a 15 year old girl, but maybe for plus 20 years old
womans, because this Woman tells about her life and there is many things I don t maybe understand or
that doesn t fit my life right now. But I don t mean that the book wasn t good because it was really
interesting and well written. I would give to the book a 5/5, but it was maybe a little bit too mature to
me, so I give it a

Generally, for long term decision making such as determining which product lines to discontinue or
promote and what price to set on these products requires all costs in the value chain to be considered.
When making short term decision in relation to existing products, managers may only choose to
consider manufacturing and downstream costs as upstream costs have already been incurred. (refer to
appendix)
Additionally, product costs may be used in assisting with planning and control. Managers may need to
obtain reliable cost estimates for planning purposes, as budgets are set. If costs vary and are frequently
subject to change then decision making will not be effective. By comparing actual costs to planned
costs, current costs can be controlled.
Managers must assess the product profitability of a product so they are able to make optimal decisions
about product mix and set appropriate prices. The true cost to produce a product can be exposed and
any possible reduction in the cost to produce this good can be identified. Additionally, non value
adding activities may be identified and eliminated. This will prevent underpricing for a good where
the company mistakenly believes profits are possible when true costs and profitability are hidden
under inadequate analysis.
However, when deciding to obtain additional information to facilitate managerial decision making, as
always, costs and benefits of their use must firstly be taken into account. The needs of

Encryption and Its Uses in Communication
Encryption is a very important aspect of our daily lives. Everywhere we go and everything we do now
involves some sort of encryption technology. From turning on our cars to using a card access to gain
entry to our workplace, encryption is there. More specifically, encryption in communication is a vital
component to everyday life. Without encryption, our lives would be much different and unsecure.
According to Oded Goldreich (2004), There are 2 main types of encryption: One is called Symmetric
key and the other is public key encryption (pp 375 376). The Symmetric key algorithm uses the same
cipher for both encryption and decryption. Conversely, the public key algorithm requires 2 separate
keys. One of these keys encrypts the text or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even common household devices such as refrigerators now have WiFi access. Thermostats also can be
controlled via the internet now. As you can see, technology is ever evolving and growing. It doesn t
seem to be slowing down at all. Encryption is a great tool that is protection the assets of many
companies. Referring back to an access card, companies rely on these to protect their buildings from
unwanted access. Encryption definitely protects digital assets too. Many software products that we use
are protected by a license or authentication key. This key is a special encrypted phrase that grants
access to the software. It can prevent people from stealing software without paying for it. While some
companies are viewed as being greedy, in all honesty it does cost time and money to develop software
and products that people want to buy. These products need to be secured in the interest of the company
because it is in human nature to be dishonest, disloyal, and to be a thief in many cases. Going back
almost ten years, companies were looking for ways to prevent game stealing. A pioneer in the gaming
industry, Valve, took action by suspending 20,000 users who had stolen their software (GameSpot).
While this was an example of how encryption was used to catch thieves, encryption can also be used
to prevent unauthorized access. This is the case in many industries such as the

  • 2. Aircraft Icing Introduction Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with the general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times, although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are so varied. Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories. Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the current and forecast weather conditions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also issued 18 airworthiness directives for all pilots operating small commuter aircraft, instructing them on how to recognize and respond to dangerous icing conditions. (Krock, 2004, 4). As a step to resolve icing accident investigations the FAA has issued airworthiness directives for aviation operators such as: Monitoring ice build up, and getting out of icing conditions if the buildup is unusually high, on anti icing equipment sooner rather than later, avoid abrupt and excessive maneuvering that may exacerbate control difficulties, do not extend flaps when holding in icing conditions (which can reduce angle of attack), If flaps are extended, do not retract until the airframe is clear of ice, and report icing conditions to ATC. (Holzapfel, 2000, 9). Aircraft icing is closely studied in wind tunnels, although it is very difficult for them to simulate different icing conditions. Such icing research is conducted at John H. Glenn Research Center using the Icing Research Tunnel, the largest refrigerated icing tunnel in the world, and the Twin Otter icing research aircraft. New techniques are also under investigation for testing subscale components in icing tunnels. A new area of interest is in the field of remote detection of icing condition. This could encompass technologies utilizing ground based, in flight, or satellite mounted detection methods (Potapczuk, 6). Goodrich has come up with a high tech solution to the problem of detecting ice on aircraft ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Consumer Assistance For Recycle And Save Act ( Cars ) The Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act (CARS), otherwise known as Cash for Clunkers , was a $3 billion U.S. program introduced by Representative Betty Sutton from Ohio. Additionally, the bill was co sponsored by Representative Bradley of Iowa and Representative Miller of Michigan. The sponsors of the bill believed the initiative would accelerate motor fuel savings nationwide and provide incentives to registered owners of high polluting automobiles to replace such automobiles with new fuel efficient and less polluting automobiles... Now that the program has ended, data extrapolated and calculated, and in conjunction with our best presumptions regarding H.R. 1550, our primary focus is to evaluate said data and conclude whether or not the policy should be implemented again. We speculate the Cash for Clunkers program was successful and helpful to the consumer as a whole. Cash for Clunkers was never intended to be a long term solution to the economic recession; it was meant to provide a catalyst for short term recovery in an attempt to boost the economy through spending and the creation of jobs. The economic theory behind the program was that by increasing consumer spending, secondary factors would inherently improve as a result of increase in demand via Trickle Down theory. The program was also meant to be a stimulus to the automotive industry. According to The Economist, the intent was a jump start the consumption of durable goods, a boost the hard hit car industry, and an improvement in the fuel efficiency of America s fleet (The Economist). But, many organizations, such as aftermarket parts suppliers and auto body paint companies, opposed the program. Organizations such as these would lose producer surplus since new vehicles would be covered under manufacturer warranties. The older vehicles were required to be disabled and the parts melted down. Initially and throughout implementation, the economists responsible for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Life of David Gale, David Gale was about a professor at the University of Boston. David was accused of the rape and murder of his partner Constance Harraway, and was put on death row. • 8. Society s Unconscious Response Of Health And Illness Society s unconscious response to health and illness An important next step will be to re establish and anchor in trust in ourselves, and there is no better opportunity to test our trust than the fear generated by social beliefs and the media reports surrounding health and dis ease. I would like to share an example of societies belief systems that surround dis ease with the relevant points of a recent therapy session with a client. My client who had been diagnosed with a life threatening dis ease (for the second time) arrived for a Therapy session. As we began to talk, she had a look of uncertainty on her face, unsure of how to express, in sensible terms, what she had been experiencing and feeling since her diagnosis . You are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, earlier that day she had shared her thoughts with a close family member, she expressed her need to talk to her body and love her illness away. She also shared that she really needed to listen to her inner feelings. The family member was horrified, that s it she said you ve given up , you have to Fight this thing , you must Fight it , was her panicked response. This reaction did not surprise me in the slightest; it is a reflection of the unbalanced views we have regarding health, illness and our bodies. Our lives are filled with fear regarding dis ease. Will I be next? The statistics state me, or someone in my family will defiantly be struck by serious illness. The TV adverts appear to be ever increasing, filled with fear of what will happen to your family when you are taken by a dis ease, children are even shown saying goodbye to a parent, I have seen a baby used to highlight a dis ease. These adverts and the frequent messages we are given regarding dis ease, is ironically, very unhealthy. You will notice I am not naming specific dis eases, the names/words carry a vibration and we don t need the vibration of a dis ease and the energy it carries in this book or affecting you as you read. Therefore we can happily leave the names out. Just remember at all times what DIS EASE means, dis ease within the body, it is far less frightening

Although the ancient classical rhetoric theory was basically concerned with oratory and to improve public speech, it was also meant to influence writing instructions. During the roman time for example, a process of composing a speech had evolved. The stages that were involved included discovering or inventing, organizing or arranging the ideas and putting them into words that enticed the public or audience. Of the ancient rhetoric, Aristotle is recognized for making a great contribution to the rhetorical theories which have formed the basis of today s communication. Aristotle due to his contribution became known as the Father of Speech Communication (Sloane, 2001). In his rhetoric, Aristotle addressed the role of audience, speaker and the speech itself within the three pillars; logos, pathos and ethos. In ethos, Aristotle shows that before delivering the message, the audience must first accept the speaker s credibility and worthiness of delivering that message. In pathos, the message must have the quality of persuasion that attracts the audience s emotions. This means that the speaker s message should evoke the feelings of love, compassion, sympathy or fear. In logos, Aristotle shows that the message should make sense and should be based on facts, evidence or statistics. Classical rhetoric divides oratories ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Element Of Criminal Liability Introduction Crime can be defined as an action or omission that can is constituted as an offence, going against the values of society and is an act which is punishable by law with either a fine, imprisonment or whatever punishment fits the nature of the crime. In this report there will be a discussion on the two element on criminal liability which are as followed Mens Rea (guilty mind) and Actus Reus (guilty act). Different components constitute these elements and are used to make up a crime. However there have been cases were the use of mens rea has very minimal effect and actus reus is the only element proven in the offence. For example; Rape even though it is considered a serious offence, there have been incidents were lack of consent was applicable to the crime as the person may have been induced to object to force, fear or fraud and the accused would have mentally believed that the victim had consent hence lacking the mens rea element and continuing the sexual penetration which is the actus reus component of the offence. The piece begins with a sweet one bar theme that is played by two solo flutes, representing the trickle of a small creek. The soft melody played in piano and lusingando , which means to be played in a coaxing style, convey the delicate and smoothness of the water. This short bar acts as a bridge, the connection where the bodies of water finally merge to create a great river. The bigger river in bar 29 is conveyed by the three different layers, flutes, clarinets, and violas. • 15. Fair Value Accounting And Financial Reporting Introduction In today s businesses, there has been an increase in the demand for financial reporting and also, the need to have reliable measurements of fair value and its disclosures. The need for reliable information has caused continuous change to accounting policies which has posed a challenge not only to management of companies, but also to auditors. The frequent changes in accounting principles pose a challenge for managers in measuring accounting estimates accurately and are an exceedingly difficult task. Fair value accounting is a financial reporting approach in which companies are required to measure and report on an ongoing basis certain assets and liabilities at estimates of the prices they would receive if they were to sell the assets or would pay if they were to settle their liabilities. Under fair value accounting, companies report losses when the fair values of their assets decrease or liabilities increase. Those losses reduce companies reported equity and may also reduce companies reported net income. The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) also defines fair value as the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date . According to these definitions, fair value is an unrealistic, idealized qualitative value. The current market value is a quantitative value and it does not fully reflect the value of assets when the markets are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting from provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United States of America retaliated by engaging in a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A New Egalitarian Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been treated inadequately starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to strive for equality across the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the author relates an experience of a black man who had received higher education and as a result could no longer live in complacency with his lower status in society in order to urge the African Americans of the time period to go to college and receive education themselves. This quote appears within the introductory section of the novel when Lane, one of the central characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his drug resistant case of tuberculosis. His work, though unpopular, and often proven to be off the mark, did in fact bring to the forefront many socio economic issues that are still being debated today: population control, food production and concerns over uncontrollable diseases arising from the effects of over population. In this sense, Malthus did not correctly identify the growth in family size as a reflexive response to economic necessity. Question Two The argument that Malthus set growth rates of food in relation to population ignored the role of food prices is accurate. In fact, by using set rates only in relation to each other, he ignored much more than food prices. In an artificial economy established in an economic lab such set ratios can be accurately predictive. However, in the natural environment, there are many external factors that would affect change on his model, and did affect change. Prices are a key oversight in his theory. While the basic premise that population growth may outstrip the growth in food productivity was true based on the circumstances within which he operated, he didn t account for the economics of food productivity to drive an increase in production worldwide that offset any local market conditions and shortages in supply. • 26. How Do Ants Carry So Many Times Their Weight Surface area to Volume Introduction As an IB biology student, I came across an interesting topic related to the relationship between surface area and volumes during an experiment. The idea came to me while my classmates and I were experimenting on agar cubes to investigate the effect of increasing cube sizes on the amount of diffusion into the cubes. Then, I thought, how do ants carry objects that are much heavier and bigger than their bodies? The answer lies in the insect s small body. First, you need to understand a few basic measurements of size, mass, and strength: The strength of a muscle is proportional to the surface area of its cross section. Surface area is a two dimensional measurement, and is proportional to the square of its length. Volume is a three dimensional measurement, and is proportional to the cube of its length. Concisely, smaller organisms will always have bigger strength to weight ratios, because it s the surface area of the muscle cross section that determines strength, but the volume of the animal that (all else being equal) determines mass. A tiny ant has a strength advantage because of the ratio of surface area to volume. An ant only has to lift a small measure of its own weight relative to the strength of its muscles. Figure 1. Ant carrying a dandelion seed bigger than its body Imagine three cubes, each of a length of 2cm, 5cm, and 10cm. The 2cm cube has a cross sectional area of 2×2=4〖cm〗^2and a volume of 2×2×2=8〖cm〗^3. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions of the lung (Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely non small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be further classified into three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma (Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray, computerised tomography (CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography (PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often diagnosed at the later stages. This is due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at the earlier stages. NSCLC are often diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at stage IV. Lung cancer usually originates from the cells lining the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.
