The Google Nexus S offers support for Near Field Communication (NFC), an extension to an RFID smart card protocol popularly used for secure access, metro passes (Oyster/Clipper), and electronic money (FeliCa/Octopus). NFC in smartphones promises adding these features to the phone you carry by allowing the it to emulate both RFID tag and reader.
NFC additionally adds new capabilities like exchanging configuration data such as WiFi settings, trading vCard contact information, reading URLs, triggering SMS text messages or initiating calls, and secure bi-directional communication between NFC devices.
This session will cover what NFC and RFID is and is not, what Android on the Nexus S is currently capable of, and some examples of how to add NFC to your apps.

Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into close proximity, usually no more than a few inches.
Near Field Communication or NFC, is a short-range high-frequency wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices over about a 10centimeter (around 4 inches) distance. NFC is an integration of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology with mobile devices. The technology is a simple extension of the ISO 14443 proximity-card standard (contactless card, RFID) that combines the interface of a smartcard and a reader into a single device. NFC operates at 13.56MHz and has 424kbps maximum data transfer rate. NFC technology is being grown up at enormous speed as it provides the fastest way to communicate between two devices within a fraction of the second. Also, NFC offers a quick and convenient method of interaction between humans and NFC enabled devices. An NFC device can communicate with both existing ISO 14443 smartcards and readers, as well as with other NFC devices, and is thereby compatible with existing contactless infrastructure already in use for public transportation and payment. This technology has only been implemented on smartphones so far. Near-field Communication is characterized as a very short-range radio communication technology with a lot of potentials, especially when applied to mobile handsets. Usage of NFC includes the electronic wallet to make payments using the handset, the same way as credit cards. Several security issues are attached with NFC, which is a big concern. Security attacks like eavesdropping, data corruption and modification, interference attacks and theft, are the most dangerous for the customer who is using his/her smartphone for payment purpose.

Near Field Communication (NFC) Technology represents short range (practically up to 4 cm) wireless communication offering safe yet simple and intuitive communication between electronic devices that we use on a daily basis. Users of devices having NFC application in it can simply touch their devices to other

NFC can be called as the next generation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as technically its working principal is based on RFID however from application point of view it is similar to Bluetooth in some ways since it allows communication between two active devices. NFC can be the future medium of contactless electronic payment as it inhibits eavesdropping on NFC - enabled transactions pertaining to its short range, however range can be extended by attackers using some range extension system. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
