Milk Sparknotes
Milk The movie Milk takes place in 1970 s in San Francisco, in the United States of America.
The main character is Harvey Milk, stared by Sean Penn, who is a gay activist. He moved from
New York City to San Francisco in 1972, where he stayed there till his assassination in 1978.
Upon moving to San Francisco, Harvey opened a camera shop, which later became a popular
place for gay community in San Francisco. While in charge of the shop he organizes gays
purchasing powers to gain political alliances, their first test was Coors Beer boycotting, due to
the fact that the leaders of the union did not meet the union demands. Harvey and his
organization convinced the gay community to drop Coors Beer from #1 in sales in San
Francisco, in which they succeeded. Tension had started between the gay community and the
police; the police would go on random raids on gay bars with their badges covered and beat
them. Once the harassed guys are on the streets the police would arrest them for blocking traffic .
So gay people started wearing and having whistles handy so when they hear the whistle they
would come running to help whoever is in trouble. Harvey claims that if the gay community had a
representative in the government like the black community did, that the harm will stop and they
would live peacefully. He first ran for city supervisor in 1975 but he lost, he kept running for other
major offices till he won City Supervisor in 1978. Harvey was assassinated1978, few months after

Rhetorical Analysis Of States By Edward Said
Edward Said s States features an insightful, in depth analysis of Orientalism as it applies to
Palestinians and Israelis. He begins with a description of Palestine and the Palestinian condition
using photographs to demonstrate a more humanized perspective of these transient people. Said
reflects on his childhood in Palestine and draws from personal experience to paint a picture of a
people without a home, or to be more accurate, people without an identity. A rhetorical analysis
reveals the levels to which Said s persuasion actually manages to persuade the audience. Said s
use of pathos is strong and well developed due to his use of anecdotal evidence and his insistence
on humanizing the issue, while his ethos is considerably boosted by his personal experiences in
Palestine, with Israelis, and his comprehensive study of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After moving to America, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton, a Master of Arts
degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature from Harvard. He joined Columbia
University as a faculty member, as well as at Harvard, Stanford, John Hopkins, and Yale. His
education alone garners sufficient tenability to put forth a reasonable opinion on the topic. Because
of his standing in the academic world and his past publications on the same subject matter such as
Orientalism , it can be assumed that his ideas will be at least received, if not necessarily accepted.
Said also builds his connection with the audience by recounting tales from his youth and describing
situations similar to what would be experienced in a Western civilization such as celebrations.
These little things build bridges from one side of common thought to another, chipping away at the
divisive wall of otherization. His choice of the title States speaks to the fragmented state of the
Palestinian nation, as well as the deplorable state of a people fighting for their homes, identities, and

Samuel Clarke s Revision Of The Cosmological Argument
Since the beginning of time, most humans have always believed that there existed an independent
being. That we all descended from this independent being and that we could not exist otherwise.
Though, some could argue that they did not descend from some independent being and that they
arrived here by evolution. Depending on what one might believe in, each individual will see the
Cosmological Argumentdifferently. Overall, the Cosmological Argument argues that dependent
beings (ourselves) came from an independent being. I will argue that an independent being does
exist.
A little background about Philosopher Samuel Clarke s version of the Cosmological Argument, his
version assumes that there are two sides and two views of reality. Depending on ... Show more

As mentioned before, Clarke lays out his argument in a deductive style, with premise one being,
there exists either an unending chain solely of dependent beings or there also exists at least one
independent being. I accept premise one because it shows that this argument considers both views,
I agree with the view that there exists at least one independent being. There needs to be an
independent being in order for the dependents to exist. Premise two being, an unending chain
solely of dependent beings has no cause since it has no cause from within or without the unending
chain of dependent beings. I accept premise two due to the fact there is no cause for a chain of
solely dependents, there is no reason that the chain exists. With that, there is no possible way for a
dependent to exist without an independent. Premise three being, everything that exists has a cause
of reason of its existence, which is also referred to as the Principle of Sufficient Reason. With the
power of inductive argument, we can conclude that something cannot exist just because or without
reason. There is a reason for everything, for example, the clouds in the skin, rain, fire, a building
collapsing. It is simply impossible for something to exist without a reason or cause. Premise four
being, an unending chain solely of dependent beings cannot exist. A

The National Council Of Teachers Of Mathematics ( Nctm )...
Summary: This article focuses on the positions of both the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) stating that having high quality, challenging and accessible math education is essential
for 3 6 years olds, creating a promising future for students. Within their daily classroom setting,
there needs to be a research based curriculum that includes policies, organized support and
appropriate resources.
Essential Questions:
Should teachers start incorporating math into all other subjects? Or should math be a stand alone
subject?
Yes should be incorporated into all subjects. Of the 10 things key professionals should incorporate
into high quality math education, number 7 is prominent. It states, integrate mathematics with other
actives and other actives with mathematics (Boyd 2008). When children at the early elementary
level are processing knowledge they don t have each subject sectioned off. When a teacher is
teaching a lesson on math, a child doesn t process that as we are doing math. There brains aren t
quite developed as a cubbybox , Therefore, if a teacher is incorporating math into all their lessons,
there are many applicable ways students can use math without even knowing. For example, when a
teacher assigns a project or investigation, students must use math to collect date, record information
and any mathematical question.
Should parents be encouraged to teach their children some

Flowers And The Symbol Of Flowers
A symbol of purity, innocence or life, when connected to the motivation of a character, flowers
have the ability to demonstrate a character s emotions and behaviors in a way that describing a
character s physical and emotional appearance cannot. Vibrant flowers symbolize aspiration and
determination while a wilted or destroyed flowerrepresents a somber and heartbroken attitude
toward life. The motif of the flowersin Paul s Case and The Chrysanthemums represent the
progression of the characters hopeand dreams.
In the opening scene of Paul s Case, the author notes the vibrant, red carnation that Paul wears to
his disciplinary meeting and consequently the teacher s distaste of what they believe the flower
symbolizes referring to it as a, scandalous red carnation and how, his whole attitude was
symbolized by...his flippantly red carnation flower (Cather 114). A defiant student, shown by his
disrespect toward his teachers, Paul seems unfazed to the fact that he is in a disciplinary meeting
choosing to act indifferent to what his teachers say about him. He is arrogant consequently holding
himself to a higher status than his teachers thus causing him to feel entitled. The red carnation
symbolizes his idealistic view of society in which he had hopes and ... Show more content on

In both Paul s Case and The Chrysanthemums, the character s willpower and idealistic views of the
world shattered, causing them to come to terms with the harsh realities that coincide with the
dreams that they held for themselves. Though Paul and Elisa choose different paths after the
destruction of the flowers, both characters hopes and dreams are destroyed themselves as the now
have to navigate the harsh reality of life. Both authors chose to portray how, like a flower, people
are not impervious to life around them and when reality strikes, it has the ability to destroy a

The Top Cloud Service Providers
The top Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in our market are various. Most of them have their special
advantages for surviving in fierce business competitions. Some may have advantages on mobile
app, some may have advantages on languages, customer help and support services or prices, or
others may pay more attention on security protection and their reputation improvements. In this
assignment, I picked up four top CSPs with comparisons of their functionality, cost, security, mobile
access and customer support services. The four CSPs are Apple iCloud, Google, OpenDrive, and
Amazon.

Your words will tell others what you think. Your actions will tell them what you believe. This
quote said by T.D Jakes shows that your real actions and real words will reveal your true self.
The character Daniel Boone learns this after he sees his friend Wolf s true ego. The two boys
shouted and laughed as they ran through this crooked path. They kept it up until Wolf s father
came (57). In the beginning of the story, Daniel Boone meets an Indian Quaker named Wolf.
Daniel and Wolf played for hours until Wolf s father came. In this part of the story, Wolf is
portrayed as a nice character. After meeting Wolf s tribe, Daniel began to see that Wolf wasn t
what he imagined he would be. There wasn t a friendly smile anywhere, even from Wolf.

Month, and One Day Old, is about the death of poet Anne Bradstreet s grandchild. She
personifies God as a gardener whom harvests the grandson Simon and his two sisters. She seems
to find ways to understand the situation and remain true to her faith. The internal conflict in
Bradstreet s poem is to retain her trust and faith while accepting the tragedy of her grandchild.
Bradstreet struggles with the loss of her faith in God by hiding her feelings but she eventually
accepts the loss the loved ones as being a part of God s plan. Bradstreet uses the term cropped to

The Contributions Of James Madison Essay
When most people think of the founding fathers, they think of people such as George Washington.
He was the leader of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and the first President
of the United States of America. He was nicknamed The Father of His Country for his contributions
and leadership during the American Revolution. Some could mention the second President of the
United States, John Adams, who also led in persuading the Continental Congress to declare
America s independence from Great Britain, while others could also mention Thomas Jefferson,
who was the third President of the United States and the author of the United States Constitution.
However, many overlook the contributions of the fourth President of the United States. Before he
took office as Commander in Chief in 1809, he made a great deal of contribution to the American
government as most know it today. An argument can be made that James Madisonwas the most
influential of our founding fathers through him promoting the United States Constitution for
ratification through the writing of the Federalist Papers, drafting as well as promoting the
inclusion of a Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution, as well as being responsible for the
creation of what is known today as the Republican Political Party. The Constitution would be
finalized and submitted to the states for ratification in September of 1787. While most expected a
revised version of the Articles of Confederation, many were

Birdsong and Journey s End
Compare the ways Sherriff presents the main character of Stanhope in Journey s End with Faulks
presentation of Stephen in Birdsong
Both Journey s End by R.C. Sherriff and Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks portray their main
characters of Stanhope and Stephen in several different ways. These include their ability as a
leader, the way that they are introduced, how they are affected by the war and their troubled
relationships with women. The contrast between the different forms of literature and the time
periods that they were both written in could also affect the overall presentation of the characters,
as Sherriff is relying on his own memories and Faulks is relying on accounts. This could alter how
the characters are perceived by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faulks could have written him like this to show the transformation in the character between the
years, due to the loss of Isabelle and what he has seen during the war. These events may have left
Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority.
Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and
shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells
Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be
showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown
him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could
also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a
soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the
war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of
the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what
will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. This
could show Stephen s general interest in the war, even though he also seems to hate it. An
inquisitive nature is implied here, as Faulks could have written him to

What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Bluefin Tuna With The...
Dear reader,
In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within
my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my
arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the
thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with
having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other
questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by
presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of
fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking
would you care more if it were a panda .
I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses
to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the
two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of
sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions,
and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader
feel guilty, all of the colors in the ad are dark and gray based which gives a sad and gloomy
ambience, and contributes greatly to the guilt trip conveyed to the reader.
I also found a new

Thomas Nast Influence
In the latter part of the nineteenth century, as the United States became more industrialized and
larger portions of the population were granted the right to political involvement, newspapers
became an increasingly important source of information. Those who could effectively portray the
events of the time in a way accessible to the common man held the key to political influence. But
there was another facet to this business: it was, above all, important to be able to reach the
uneducated masses. Cartoonist Thomas Nast did just that, using his artistic skill to caricature
inequality in weekly political magazines over the course of his 40 year career. It is widely agreed
that Nast had an influence unparalleled by nearly any other in American history;... Show more

Indeed, in an era where news of all kinds is only a click away, it seems odd that the simple cartoon
could once have been the most influential form of media in the nation. However, one must realize
that the target audience of these cartoons were illiterate immigrants and the impoverished masses;
before exposure to Nast s cartoons, they had no way to know that their beloved Tweed was
corrupting politics at all. In addition, these comics were published at a time when the United States
had the highest newspaper circulation per capita in the world; everyone had access to these
cartoons (Leepson 54). Therefore, Nast could use his illustrations to turn politics into a tangible,
understandable topic for the American masses; in doing this, Nast paved the way for future
illustrators and journalists, such as Homer Davenport, who went on to caricaturize corruption just
as his predecessor had (Wang,

Reflection Of The Incredibles
The Incredibles is more than a hero s journey; it also explores the ties between faith and family.
Although watching this movie does not reveal this fact immediately, we can understand this film
through a deep understanding and knowledge of Ostwalt s theory in his journal, Religion Popular
Movies. To begin, Ostwalt outlines three categories in which films can fall into: theological,
mythological and ideological. These three categories are intrinsic in nature making sense
semantically but Ostwalt delves deeper into the meanings in his journal and describes instances in
which viewers can relate. The Incredibles, in this case, falls under a mythological and critical lens.
With this information, we can start to uncover the easter eggs that Brad Bird, the director of The
Incredibles, has left for us. This film teaches us the importance of recognizing and accepting the
gifts that God has given us. The characters experience growth only when they have wholeheartedly
embraced the gifts that have been given to them. Once they fully accept and understand their gifts,
we see them flourish.
Imagine living in a time when superheroes are shunned for saving people; when helping people is
a taboo. A time when superheroes like Mr. Incredible and Frozone are subjected to listening to
police scanners in the night, like vigilantes, when they were originally admired by many for their
kind and selfless acts; this is the setting of Pixar s The Incredibles. After being shunned by the

DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION
Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization
In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except
the central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the
associated decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the
pros and cons of this concept.
A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not
necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that
have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the
show. Gradually, as the business grows and the headcount expands, the... Show more content on

The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized
setup. Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and
adopt the methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere.
One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden
change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation,
etc. Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is
decentralized.
Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of
management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the
order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization.
Disadvantages of Decentralization
Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture.
As you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision.
A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between
local managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent
functions may suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been
delegated. In addition, there is costly duplication

Traditional Methods And Styles Of Leadership Styles
Today there are a lot of organizations that are consistently changing their leadership styles to
motivate their teammates. Traditional methods and styles of leadership must change to meet the
changing environment (Sims, 2002, p.242). As a leader you must use the best leadership style that
will work best for you that will in due time work in the better interest of the company. You must
learn to use different styles because different situations call for different actions. Choosing the right
type of style, at the right time, in the right situation makes a good leader. With each style you have
to have good communication skills so the leader can communicate with the group and of course
people outside of the group. This requires listening,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This style is not about bossing the crew around it s about managing to them how to run the
company properly and successfully. It is best used for employees who don t know their job well
or for new employees who don t know their job at all. This style will make it better on the
employee because they will receive coaching and they will better perfect their job. Being a
successful leader requires courage, flexibility and capability to enhance an effective organization.
You can use any of the styles that works for you but you have to have great characteristics to go
along with it. Authoritarian leaders tend to fail their organization because they don t have any
creativity or development towards their foundation. Creativity involves more than one person it
involves a team. Usually this type of leader do not accept anyone s input but their own and then
problems start to occur where the team begins to think the leader is demanding, egotistical, or just
plain out bossy. Using the authoritarian style doesn t make leaders bossy but only using this style
does. For authoritarian to work well it requires understanding, abiding, and hard working
individuals. This style would not work for members who want their voice heard. The employee
must be able to trust their employer and put all faith into them.

The Importance Of Football In High School
When students go from junior high to a high school, they will see and witness new things that
the school will provide throughout the four years. New clubs, activities, things that they will
never forget for next couple years. If you re really wanting to have a good time at school, you can
be a part of a sport instead of being in P.E. in the first two years of high school. There are many
sport that students could join like, but there is one that people are really worried about young
students could be harmed. Football is a sport that has a lot of contact and, as seen on T.V.,
people have been sent to the hospital for serious head injuries, some might even reach the point
of dying. Many schools have themselves, should young student be played in high school? Well,
some might say it is not safe, but I think student should have the opportunity to make the football
team. Young teens have many perspectives than other teenagers, no one is the same. Many

Marian s Identity In Edible Women By Margaret Atwood
The novel Edible Women, by Margaret Atwood, is a piece of literature that describes the women
s role in the 1960s. The book centers around a woman named Marian McAlpin, who faces
problems in her relationship. Marian gets engaged to Peter, who is narcissistic and controlling.
She notices that ever since she has gotten engaged, she is starting to lose her appetite. This essay
will seek to prove that food is a symbol of Marian s identity.
The novel introduces the readers to Marian, a well educated woman, who works in Seymour
Surveys, a market research company. She lives in an apartment with Ainsley, a free spirited
woman. Marian is engaged to a self obsessed man names Peter, a lawyer, who is only using her
as an accessory. He was treating me as a stage prop; silent but solid, a two dimensional outline
(Atwood 72). Ever since her engagement she feels like her appetite is not normal anymore. ... Show

Marian opened the soft boiled egg and saw the yolk looking up with its one significant and
accusing yellow eye, found her mouth closing together like a frightened sea anemone (174). She
starts to notice that her body is rejecting the food. I don t seem to be hungry anymore (164).
The second example is when Marian stops consuming certain foods. Well, she said, there are a
lot of things I can t eat; I mean, I haven t been eating them lately. Meat, for instance, and eggs and
certain vegetables (208). As Marian stops consuming certain foods, she is also letting Peter make
important decisions for her. Marian s first impulse was to answer, with the evasive flippancy she
always used before when he asked me serious questions about herself, What about Groundhog
Day? . But instead I rather have you decide that. I d rather leave the big decisions up to

Research Paper On The Palace Of Versailles
The palace of Versailles was built in 1624 by Louis XIII. It was at first a lodge of brick and stone
that was designed by an architect called Jacques Lemercier. It was not a palace after the next king
of France Louis XIV (also called the Sun God made it one. It was the official residence of the
Kings of Francefrom 1682 until 1790. The first phase of expansion was between 1661 and 1678.
This first phase was designed and supervised by another architect called Louis Le Vau in which
he added three new wings of stone called in french the enveloppe which means in english

The Count Of Nevilles Analysis
This walk explores the beautiful countryside to the north east of Sheriff Hutton, visiting the
hamlet of High Stittenham and the secluded valley of Mowthorpe Dale. The extensive views
stretch across the Vale of York. The name Sheriff Hutton derives from the Old English words
hoh and tun which, when combined mean farm on the spur of land . The prefix of Sheriff
originates from its association with Bertram de Bulmer, the Sheriff of York in 1115, who once
held title to the estate. Later the Bulmers married into the powerful Neville family. The Nevilles
became lords of the manor in 1331 after the Bulmers male lineage failed. In 1382 John, Lord
Neville obtained a licence to crenellate and build a new stone castle. The castle had a high curtain...

However, much of the present structure is the result of rebuilding and additions carried out
between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. Inside the church is a white alabaster effigy of a
young boy wearing a long robe and his head, bearing a coronet, rests on a pillow of winged
beasts, possibly gryphons. This statue represents Edward of Middleham, Prince of Wales, the
son of Richard III, who died in 1484. Furthermore, a small piece of stained glass above the effigy
depicts the Sun in Splendour , a symbol used by the House of York. However, Edward s final
resting place remains a subject for debate, as the tomb below is empty! Next to the churchyard is
the site of Sheriff Hutton s first motte and bailey castle, erected in 1140 by Bertram de Bulmer.
This type of fortress had a wooden tower situated on a raised earthwork called a motte, with an
enclosed courtВyard, the bailey, surrounded by a ditch and wooden fence. These structures were
easy to build, but still formidable defensive strongholds. From the village, we follow the Ebor Way
onto the Howardian Hills and join the Centenary Way which leads to High Stittenham. This tiny
hamlet stands at the top of a steep hill, surrounded by valleys on three sides, justifying the meaning
of its name as the steep place . According to some sources, John Gower, the first Poet Laureate was

Temple Buddhism Research Paper
Temple Buddhism
The founder of Buddhism was called Siddhartha, a member of the Gautama clan. He lived
between 560 480 B.C.E. Gautama was the son of a king called Suddhodana and his wife Maya.
After his birth, it was believed that the Gautama would be a great king as his father was, but if
the kid ever saw the human misery, he would grow to be a religious teacher. The king
Suddhodana did not want this for his son, so he protected the kid from seeing especially four
sights: a dead body, an aged person, a diseased person, and an ascetic monk. At the age of
nineteen years old, Gautama married his cousin and had a son called Rahula. As Gautama began
to realize the ugliness of the world he started to try asceticism. He was considered a champion in
asceticism, achieving the point where he could eat a single grain of rice per day. The Buddha
became enlightened when he was about thirty five years old. He spent the rest of his life teaching
the Buddhism disciplines. His followers included many different types of people because in his
teachings he believed that any person of any caste or sex could achieve enlightenment.
The Buddha considered gods as mortal beings, also subject to the laws of karma and rebirth. The
Buddha was more concerned about people finding their own enlightenment instead of relying on the
help of the gods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines
On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, declaring
martial law over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still
remain in the heart of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under
the control of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or
civilian authorities fail to function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in
the Philippines was to suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an
assassination attempt on Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also
imposed to save the republic and to improve the social, economic, and political... Show more

However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the
Martial Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they
followed orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who
would disobey the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a
number of human rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people
salvaged, and 1,000 people disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This
was a serious case of human rights violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands
of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy.
Human rights violations is the best evidence that there was no democracy in the Philippines during
Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial
Law made the country suffer. Unemployment rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only
grew larger. A lot of people remember fondly the peace and order brought by the Martial Law, but
the brutal side of the Marcos regime brought us Filipinos into hardships, sufferings, and

All proposed researches require gathering information about a certain topic. In this chapter you
will read about what our topic is all about and the reasons why we had come up with this
research proposal. 1.1 Background of the Study For centuries up until the present day, plants have
given us so many things to our society. They can be used as food to give energy or to give cure
for some illnesses. It has so many uses which is important for our daily living. The Origanum

We don t need to import from other countries because the oregano plant is very much accessible to
us Filipinos. Those who will benefit from our research can use the product in their own homes
especially in areas wherein bacteria can accumulate. Another is that the next generation of students
can learn something from our research. They may get ideas from it and help them in their own
study for the problems that we are experiencing right now may not be the same in the future. 1.4
Scope and Limitations
The goal of our research study is to come up with an oregano disinfectant spray. The use of this
disinfectant spray is to rural households which live in Metro Manila. It will be done with a few
experiments to test its effectiveness. The sources that we will be getting are from the Philippines.
We will use our own products to give it a more natural and organic spray. We will focus with the
use of this sprayer to other citizens living near bodies of water. This study will cover the viral
bacteria, including germs affecting the community. We base our study with the help of other
international related topics, including the importance of the disinfectant spray. But this will only
help us to know how to deal and experiment with our study. The limits and the occurrence of this
study will only be here in

Florida Is A State Composed Of Diverse Cultures And Languages
Florida ESOL Consent Decree Gumary Prado Broward College Florida is a state composed of
diverse cultures and languages. Prior to 1990 there were not any modifications or
accommodations in the classroom for English Language Learners (ELL), which had become an
increasing issue. During this decade Florida was the third largest state with residents that were not
native born. Historically, Florida has become the home for many individuals who migrated from
Central and Latin America (MacDonald, 2004). According to the Consent Decree (n.d.), the
Florida English speakers of other languages (ESOL) Consent Decree was a result of the case,
LULAC et. al v. State Board of Education, August 14, 1990. This case addresses the civil rights of
English Language Learners (ELLs). The plaintiffs in this case were LULAC and Multicultural
Education, Training and Advocacy (META) and the defendant were Florida Board of Education.
LULAC and META came together to bring justice to students whose native language was not
English. The plaintiffs sought to implement policies to protect students whose native language was
not English in order to create an equal learning environment. For example, English was the only
means of communication in the classrooms and students who did not speak or understand the
language would find themselves at a disadvantage. Due to the lack of modifications in place,
students would eventually fall through the cracks of the school system. This case brought

Mandatory Rotation Of Registered Public Accounting Firms
The mandatory audit partner rotation was also one of the aspect targeted by SOX and requires
that every lead partner or reviewing partner must be rotated every five years in order to bring a
fresh look to each engagement. A particular aspect of all this rotations is the possibility to impose
mandatory rotation of registered public accounting firms. The SOX requested to the Comptroller
General of the United States to conduct a study addressing this issue and the implications of this
requirements. Although the PCAOB has expressed the importance of having some type of rotation
in the registered CPA firms and in 2011 issued a concept release proposing mandatory auditfirm
rotation, some congressman like Republican Robert Hurt have taken steps in order to avoid this
type of regulations and the Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act was passed by the House of
Representatives in 2013. These act prohibit the mandatory rotation of registered CPA firms arguing
this decision correspond to the audit committee and the shareholders of the corporation and no to
regulators. In my opinion, the mandatory registered CPA firm rotation is an unnecessary burden to
impose to companies, especially small corporations, that would be force to be changing constantly
and without any justification of CPA firm. The current audit partner rotation in CPA firms grant that
each partner is liable for the work performed by him and his team which ensures the transparency
and reliability of the audit they do.

there are so many prodigious and amazing museums to choose from to visit in the county. But, I

Questions On The Prayer Of Jesus Christ And Subsequent...
INTRODUCTION Romans 5:1 to 11 is based on reconciliation though the death of Jesus Christ
and subsequent hope and blessings that follows with faith. In this essay, I will discuss the text
before the verses to provide context, the historical background behind the text, the literary
context, and the content. Lastly I will make an exegetical summary on what the text hopes to
accomplish, a theological witness explaining what the text reveals about God, and eventually
interpreting how it can be applied in our own lives. PERICOPE Chapter 4 gives examples of
people living in/ having faith since the beginning. Abraham had faith in God and God blessed
him. Paul then mentions that God blessed Abraham even when he was uncircumcised, a nod to
Gentile Christians, even though Circumcision was considered proof of faith. God rewards
Abraham s faith by letting his wife become pregnant at 100 years old. As Osborne explains, there
is a significant shift of focus between the two chapters; chapter four centering on the necessity
of faith for salvation while chapter five is on the effects of that salvation on the lives and
experiences of believers (Osborne 124). In the HCSB version, Paul uses transition phrase,
therefore, to move into chapter 5 to talk about the blessings of faith, how god shows his love
through Christ, making us at peace with God again. Stopping at verse 12 as it also begins with
transition phase and proceeds to explain sin and the necessity of God s grace. GENRE Romans

of health care that are essential to know. However, if you take special interest in hemodialysis and

and physicians.
Background information Willem Johan Kolff was born in (February 11, 1911) the Leiden
Netherlands. Kolff was the eldest of 5 boys. At his youth Kolff decided to follow his father s

Kolff being quite creative used wooden drums, cell phone tubing, and laundry tubes to create an
apparatus that drew patients blood. The apparatus then cleansed toxins from the blood that
transported the blood back into the patient. Sadly, the first 15 patients only survived a couple days
off the machine that introduced hemodylsis. Kolff wasn t discouraged by this; it only stimulated
him to prolong patient s lives longer.
Determined by overstepping so many boundaries already, Kolff improved his hemodylsis machine
and was ready to defeat renal kidney failure once again. In 1945, a disliked Nazi woman was in
need of hemodylis treatment (Academy of Achievement, n.d.). Although many people wanted Kolff
to let her die, he did all he could as a doctor. Ultimately, Kolff s hemodylsis machine saved her life.
Wanting to help others in need, Kolff shipped his hemodylsis machines to the United States, and
also to Canada.
In 1946 Kolff completed his postgraduate studies at Groningen and received a P.h.D in medicine
(Pegels, 2010). Accomplishing so many things, many physicians and researchers took great interest
in Kolff. He was then invited to join the research staff of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the
United States (Academy of Achievement, n.d.). Accepting this invitation he became an American
citizen in 1956. While at the Cleveland Clinic, Kolff started to study the cardiovascular system and
developed one of the first heart apparatuses. This development

Noah s Piety In The Play
In the York Corpus Christi Plays, many of the characters are so over top, so remarkably
buffoonish that those characters are ultimately quite comedic in effect. To a modern audience, a
comedic biblical character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s
executioners as they struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when
examining exactly how those characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those
characters may not be wholly blasphemous in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners
only make the audience laugh at Jesus s crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and
solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark and the great flood include comedic characters,
yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous. Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in
these plays seems more nuanced. In the York Corpus ChristiPlay The Building of the Ark, Noah s
piety is established through his undying trust in God and his general... Show more content on

Throughout his encounter with God, Noah does not question God s intentions or his plan. The
only thing Noah questions is his own ability to perform such great actions (which is, again,
related to his pious humility), never God s general plan. God explains to him his plan, and Noah
ends the play by telling God that he will go and fulfill God s wishes: Abowte this werke now bus
me wende, (PAGE #, l. 148). Not only is Noah humble, he is also obedient and trusts in his God. In
attributing Noah s piety to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the
Ark subsequently praises these attributes and establishes them as virtues. Thus, the play not only
categorizes Noah as pious (and explains what exactly makes him a pious character), the play also
makes the public aware of how one can become pious like

Mental Health For All By Involving All
Mental illness is a broad spectrum of many diseases, from autism to depression and dementia. One
in four people suffer from mental illness, and more often than not, those affected with mental
illness are not treated. It is not an illness you can see or touch, but an illness in the mind, and
today s society does not see it as an issue worth discussing. Imagine if you suffered from a mental
illnessand were not able to receive the help you needed to have a good quality of life. In
developing countries, this is not just imagination, however but a harsh reality. They will statically
unhealthier and will live shorter lives compared to those who do not suffer from any form of
mental illness. ( Transcript of Mental healthfor all by involving all ) Dr. Vikram Patel, a Psychiatrist
and Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropic Medicine, has a plan to change all that.
Patel s idea is to train individuals in developing countries to be able to perform basic psychological
treatment to those affected in rural or developing areas.
To begin a way to get proper mental health care treatment to other areas, Patel has established a
plan of action to get that care to certain individuals by receiving it from people they trust, their
very own neighbors. This type of health care system has been around for centuries in different
ways. The Native Americans had the Medicine Man, and the Europeans had the mid wife. If a

broad shoulders accompanied by defined and battle tested muscle. He looked very much the part

Of course it wasn t the only place for such devotions to be enacted.
The very temple Sven spoke of, in the Capitol of Felhine was alive that very night. To call it a
brothel would be an insult, seeing how brothels were kept to the outer reaches of the city. The
temple of Edana was one of many temples, built and placed within the inner sphere of the city.
Yes, for some gold one could sleep with the gorgeous priestess s that called the temple home. But
what temple didn t accept payment for service? The Sect of Dorfane took gold for prophetic
guidance on people s futures, and the Sect of Bro Kul took gold for administering the rites of the

Learning Self-Analysis Essay
I once thought of myself as a slow learner. My friends and acquaintances seemed to have
knowledge and experiences unknown to me. I now realize I was a sheltered learner. My sensory
input was limited. What I saw, read, heard, and even did, was limited to what my parents, teachers,
preachers and even my spouse, thought I should experience.
Reading, which once seemed restricted to school books, the Bible, and parenting books, became
an adventure to a new life. I acquired new desires, dreams, goals and thoughts. I developed a can
do attitude instead of a wait and see approach to living. Instead of spending countless hours
watching television, I checked out books from the library. In waiting rooms I would select

I no longer had feeling of being sheltered. I wanted to see America from the mountains to the

heard about and read about. I saw New York when the Twin towers were still new. I saw the

How Does Jack London Create Similarities Between The Call...
Many readers of the fiction genre come across Jack London s works. London began writing in the
year of 1893 after his mother encouraged him to write his story and submit it into a writing
contest. If you have ever came across one of London s novels you have probably noticed the
similarities of setting, theme, and the protagonist. London s novels The Call of the Wind and White
Fangshare several of those similarities. London uses similarities throughout the settings in The Call
of the Wind and White Fang. Both novels take place in the freezing Yukon
territory. And that
Charles s sister s tale bearing tongue should be relevant to the building of a Yukon fire, was
apparent only to Mercedes, who disburdened herself of copious opinions upon that... Show more

London s protagonists are dogs in both of his novels. The snow walls pressed him on every side,
and a great surge of fear swept through him the fear of the wild thing for the trap. It was a token
that he was harking back through his own life to the lives of his forebears; for he was a civilised
dog, an unduly civilised dog, and of his own experience knew no trap and so could not of himself
fear it. The muscles of his whole body contracted spasmodically and instinctively (London 30). In
The Call of the Wind, London shows Buck s animal fear and his more advanced level of fear. So
White Fang knew nothing of the kindness a man s hand might offer. Besides, he did not like the
hands of the man animals. He did not trust them. It was true they sometimes gave meat, but more
often they gave hurt. Hands were things to keep away from. (London 86). In White Fang, White
Fang started out as just a puppy in the wild. He does normal puppy things like exploring and getting
himself into trouble with the humans. The humans would not only give him food, but beat and
throw rocks at him giving him no reason to trust the human hand. In The Call of the Wind and
White Fang, London uses the similarities of the protagonists throughout the

Invictus By Earnest Henley
The poem Invictus by William Earnest Henley is a poem that the audience can easily relate to. Its
talking about how they must overcome the trials that they have in life. Invictus is a lyrical poem
containing four stanzas with the rhyme scheme: ABAB CHCH EFEF GBGB. This poem was
written in the late 1800 s, but the meaning of this poem is everlasting and can be used even now in
the present and the future. Which is why this is one of the most known poems in the literature
world. The way Henley gets his outstanding message across in Invictus is portrayed through
different elements of speech. He uses metaphors, imagery , and personification. This poem is
centralized around the conquering of challenges that one will face without faltering when... Show

A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or a phrase is compared to an object or action
that otherwise wouldn t be the same. In using metaphors this elevated the images and emotions
that are described by the author. Out of the night that covers me (1) is the first metaphor that
will be read in the poem. Night is represents the feeling of suffering and pain that the author is
trying to describe during this poem. Also Night could be referring to the darkest part of the day
which would be comparing night to the worst that is to come. The next example of a metaphor
is in the third stanza. Looms but the horror of the shade (10). By saying that, shade is an
unexpected life event. Shade could also be used to foreshadow the incidents that are to come.
That will create a trail that one must overcome. The last example of a metaphor is also found in
the third stanza. And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid (11,12). The
term menace of the years signifies the coming of age. Then Henley states that he is not scared of
the upcoming years. In the lines of Invictus he also helps the reader to visualize the emotions and
pains that he is going through. Henley does a really good job of expressing the character trait of
bravery. This relates to another figure of speech that he uses very well to help us and it is,

Essay on Book Banning and First Amendment Right
What is a banned book? A banned book is a book that has been removed from the shelves; it
could be from a library, classroom, or even the bookstore because of its content. A book could be
banned for many reasons, but it could be banned because it contains sex, violence, inappropriate
language, religious viewpoints, witch craft, and many more things because other people deem it
inappropriate. When someone bans a book they ban it for everyone else too. The First Amendment
states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the
free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people
to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress... Show more content on

The burning of the Great Alexandria Library, maybe a mistake destroyed over 700, 000 scrolls.
Many of these scrolls were the only copies and the information they held are lost forever (Heather

Even the Catholic Church supported censorship, in the seventieth century they wanted to censor
Galileo because he believed that they church was wrong about the planets revolving around
Earth. He believe that the sun was in the center and all of the plants revolved around it and they
made him burn all of his writings. As United States citizens, we have the right of freedom of
expression; the First Amendment of the United States constitution states, Congress shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging
the freedom of speech, or the press... (First Amendment Oct. 20, 2013). As this concerns books,
people should have the freedom to choose what they want to read and what they don t want to
read. By banning books, our basic rights as US citizens are abused. Book banning affects many
different people, from the people who read books to the people who write them. Why do

Essay on Georgia OKeefe (includes annotated bibliography)
Georgia O Keefe (word count includes annotated bibliography)
Georgia O Keefe is a famous American painter who painted beautiful flowers and landscapes.
But she painted these images in such a way that many people believed she was portraying sexual
imagery. O Keefe s depictions of flowers in strict frontality and enlarged to giant scale were
entirely original in character . . . the view into the open blossoms evoked an image of the female
psyche and invited erotic associations. (Joachimides 47) O Keefe denies these allegations and says
that she magnified the scale of the flower only to ensure people would notice them. (Haskell 203)
O Keefe s artwork was misinterpreted because of cultural prejudice, her non traditional lifestyle, and

When she began creating beautiful artwork in school and was being commended by other
teachers and students, she gained an incredible sense of self worth and put her painful childhood
in the back of her mind. (19) She grew up to be a very strong, independent person and she did not
care if she was judged, as long as she liked who she was. As a result of her father leaving when
she was young, she felt that males were not good enough for her and she developed a strong
sense of feminism. In fact, for awhile, Georgia explored her sexuality and dated predominantly
women for a significant part of her life. This factor did effect her painting, but not in a sexual
way. She painted images that were close ups , allowing you to see deep into them and to be
close to them. She yearned to be close to someone but was afraid to be hurt again. Georgia s non
traditional lifestyle did affect her life, but did not force her to create sexual female images. It may
be more accurate to read her drawings as intimations of a less literal and more profound view of
reality. (Peters 29)
Georgia grew up in a time where people still had little respect for women. A woman s role was to
stay home and be a housekeeper. They had no self worth until they were married. So, when women
started to get jobs just like their husbands or lived their lives without a husband, people were
shocked and most looked down upon

Nt1330 Unit 1 Lab Report
In this section we first briefly explain the properties of a first order Delta Sigma modulated bit
stream. Based on these properties, we propose the P N pair method to process the Delta Sigma
modulated bit streams.
A Delta Sigma modulator converts an analog input signal to a Delta Sigma modulated digital bit
stream. A first order Delta Sigma modulator consists of an analog integrator, a one bit ADC, and
a one bit digital to analog converter (DAC), as shown in Fig. 2. In the Delta Sigma modulator
circuit, the analog input port and the digital output port can use either dual power supplies or a
single power supply. To avoid confusion, we use P and N to represent the polarity of the output
digital signals. P means a digital positive value true , while N means a digital negative value false .
We use numbers to represent digital or analog levels. For example, в€’1 and +1 represent the dual
power supply level VSS and VDD, respectively. 0 means analog ground, which is 0 volts in a dual
power system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the input is positive, the digital output bit stream contains more P bits than N bits. There
can be consecutive P bits, but each N bit is separated by at least one P bit. Thus, there are no
adjacent N bits when the input is positive. Similarly, when the input is negative, the output bit
stream consists of single P bits separated by one or more N bits. A Delta Sigma bit stream toggles
equally between N bits and P bits when its analog value is 0. Delta Sigma modulation is a type of
Pulse Density Modulation (PDM), which means the output digital bit stream can be converted
back to an analog value using a digital moving average filter. Therefore, in a Delta Sigma
modulated bit sequence ai, which has a total of W bits, if there are n bits having the value N, and p
bits having the value P, then the analog value y of this bit sequence can be written

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Individualism
Do people in need have a right to be assisted by people who have the means necessary to help; is it
better for the recievers to be aided, or to solve their problems by themselves? Many philosophers
throughout human history have analyzed and constructed arguments for and against helping the
needy and poor, as well as arguments for charitable isolation. Peter Singer is an Australian
philosopher who wrote Famine Affluence and Moralityin Philosophy and Public Affairs to
convince people of rich societies that giving charity to those in need is not generous, but is rather
morally obligatory to people that have the resources to help
Ralph Waldo Emersonwas an American philosopher that contributed to the concept of
individualism. As part of a series of essays, Emerson wrote Self Reliance to explain his personal
worldview of individualism, a moral philosophy that judges people based on their individual
personality traits, values, experiences, and values. The main idea of Self Reliance is that people
should not conform to morals and values of other people, but should instead let their values be
shaped by the life that they lead.
Garrett Hardin on the other hand, was an American philosopher and ecologists that wrote Lifeboat
Ethics in Psychology Today to differentiate a world that has a single authority leading it, from a
world that has multiple authorities without a supreme captain to dictate right from wrong. Hardin
further explains how distributing resources based on

Nineteen years after the shipwreck, family members requested for the bell to be removed so

time, dove to the wreck to bring the ship s original bell to the surface. There is video evidence on
a short documentary film called, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald showing a diver going

The Chimney Sweeper By William Blake
The end of the eighteenth century was a dangerous time to be a child living in England; common
folk everywhere were struggling to get by. Parents could not afford to feed and care for their
children, so mothers and fathers had no choice but to sell their sons and daughters. Unfortunately,
the career that children were forced into was chimney sweeping, which had a terrifyingly high
mortality rate. The poem, The Chimney Sweeper , written by William Blake, tells the heartbreaking
story of a child who is sold into chimney sweeping at a young age and leads a devastating life. After
reading Blake s poem about the sweepers, one may begin to wonder how it was possible for
children to be treated so poorly, and how the king of that time could allow conditions for his
people to get so bad. Thomas Paineshared his opinion on the caste system in his work Rights of
Man. Paine explains that there are plenty of people that have lived undesirable lives for the king
who are not acknowledged in politics, like the common folk who have been let down by the flawed
caste system, including the chimney sweepers and other laborers. Because of the immense
inequality taking place during this time, simply through birthrights, it becomes an important topic
to focus in on. The works of Blake and Paine together give the audiences a new point of view on
Englands political system at the end of the eighteenth century. These works protest the push away
from the establishment and a push towards representing

  • 2. Milk Sparknotes Milk The movie Milk takes place in 1970 s in San Francisco, in the United States of America. The main character is Harvey Milk, stared by Sean Penn, who is a gay activist. He moved from New York City to San Francisco in 1972, where he stayed there till his assassination in 1978. Upon moving to San Francisco, Harvey opened a camera shop, which later became a popular place for gay community in San Francisco. While in charge of the shop he organizes gays purchasing powers to gain political alliances, their first test was Coors Beer boycotting, due to the fact that the leaders of the union did not meet the union demands. Harvey and his organization convinced the gay community to drop Coors Beer from #1 in sales in San Francisco, in which they succeeded. Tension had started between the gay community and the police; the police would go on random raids on gay bars with their badges covered and beat them. Once the harassed guys are on the streets the police would arrest them for blocking traffic . So gay people started wearing and having whistles handy so when they hear the whistle they would come running to help whoever is in trouble. Harvey claims that if the gay community had a representative in the government like the black community did, that the harm will stop and they would live peacefully. He first ran for city supervisor in 1975 but he lost, he kept running for other major offices till he won City Supervisor in 1978. Harvey was assassinated1978, few months after winning ... • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of States By Edward Said Edward Said s States features an insightful, in depth analysis of Orientalism as it applies to Palestinians and Israelis. He begins with a description of Palestine and the Palestinian condition using photographs to demonstrate a more humanized perspective of these transient people. Said reflects on his childhood in Palestine and draws from personal experience to paint a picture of a people without a home, or to be more accurate, people without an identity. A rhetorical analysis reveals the levels to which Said s persuasion actually manages to persuade the audience. Said s use of pathos is strong and well developed due to his use of anecdotal evidence and his insistence on humanizing the issue, while his ethos is considerably boosted by his personal experiences in Palestine, with Israelis, and his comprehensive study of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After moving to America, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton, a Master of Arts degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature from Harvard. He joined Columbia University as a faculty member, as well as at Harvard, Stanford, John Hopkins, and Yale. His education alone garners sufficient tenability to put forth a reasonable opinion on the topic. Because of his standing in the academic world and his past publications on the same subject matter such as Orientalism , it can be assumed that his ideas will be at least received, if not necessarily accepted. Said also builds his connection with the audience by recounting tales from his youth and describing situations similar to what would be experienced in a Western civilization such as celebrations. These little things build bridges from one side of common thought to another, chipping away at the divisive wall of otherization. His choice of the title States speaks to the fragmented state of the Palestinian nation, as well as the deplorable state of a people fighting for their homes, identities, and ... • 4. Samuel Clarke s Revision Of The Cosmological Argument Since the beginning of time, most humans have always believed that there existed an independent being. That we all descended from this independent being and that we could not exist otherwise. Though, some could argue that they did not descend from some independent being and that they arrived here by evolution. Depending on what one might believe in, each individual will see the Cosmological Argumentdifferently. Overall, the Cosmological Argument argues that dependent beings (ourselves) came from an independent being. I will argue that an independent being does exist. A little background about Philosopher Samuel Clarke s version of the Cosmological Argument, his version assumes that there are two sides and two views of reality. Depending on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned before, Clarke lays out his argument in a deductive style, with premise one being, there exists either an unending chain solely of dependent beings or there also exists at least one independent being. I accept premise one because it shows that this argument considers both views, I agree with the view that there exists at least one independent being. There needs to be an independent being in order for the dependents to exist. Premise two being, an unending chain solely of dependent beings has no cause since it has no cause from within or without the unending chain of dependent beings. I accept premise two due to the fact there is no cause for a chain of solely dependents, there is no reason that the chain exists. With that, there is no possible way for a dependent to exist without an independent. Premise three being, everything that exists has a cause of reason of its existence, which is also referred to as the Principle of Sufficient Reason. With the power of inductive argument, we can conclude that something cannot exist just because or without reason. There is a reason for everything, for example, the clouds in the skin, rain, fire, a building collapsing. It is simply impossible for something to exist without a reason or cause. Premise four being, an unending chain solely of dependent beings cannot exist. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The National Council Of Teachers Of Mathematics ( Nctm )... Summary: This article focuses on the positions of both the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) stating that having high quality, challenging and accessible math education is essential for 3 6 years olds, creating a promising future for students. Within their daily classroom setting, there needs to be a research based curriculum that includes policies, organized support and appropriate resources. Essential Questions: Should teachers start incorporating math into all other subjects? Or should math be a stand alone subject? Yes should be incorporated into all subjects. Of the 10 things key professionals should incorporate into high quality math education, number 7 is prominent. It states, integrate mathematics with other actives and other actives with mathematics (Boyd 2008). When children at the early elementary level are processing knowledge they don t have each subject sectioned off. When a teacher is teaching a lesson on math, a child doesn t process that as we are doing math. There brains aren t quite developed as a cubbybox , Therefore, if a teacher is incorporating math into all their lessons, there are many applicable ways students can use math without even knowing. For example, when a teacher assigns a project or investigation, students must use math to collect date, record information and any mathematical question. Should parents be encouraged to teach their children some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Flowers And The Symbol Of Flowers A symbol of purity, innocence or life, when connected to the motivation of a character, flowers have the ability to demonstrate a character s emotions and behaviors in a way that describing a character s physical and emotional appearance cannot. Vibrant flowers symbolize aspiration and determination while a wilted or destroyed flowerrepresents a somber and heartbroken attitude toward life. The motif of the flowersin Paul s Case and The Chrysanthemums represent the progression of the characters hopeand dreams. In the opening scene of Paul s Case, the author notes the vibrant, red carnation that Paul wears to his disciplinary meeting and consequently the teacher s distaste of what they believe the flower symbolizes referring to it as a, scandalous red carnation and how, his whole attitude was symbolized by...his flippantly red carnation flower (Cather 114). A defiant student, shown by his disrespect toward his teachers, Paul seems unfazed to the fact that he is in a disciplinary meeting choosing to act indifferent to what his teachers say about him. He is arrogant consequently holding himself to a higher status than his teachers thus causing him to feel entitled. • 12. The Contributions Of James Madison Essay When most people think of the founding fathers, they think of people such as George Washington. He was the leader of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and the first President of the United States of America. He was nicknamed The Father of His Country for his contributions and leadership during the American Revolution. Some could mention the second President of the United States, John Adams, who also led in persuading the Continental Congress to declare America s independence from Great Britain, while others could also mention Thomas Jefferson, who was the third President of the United States and the author of the United States Constitution. However, many overlook the contributions of the fourth President of the United States. Before he took office as Commander in Chief in 1809, he made a great deal of contribution to the American government as most know it today. An argument can be made that James Madisonwas the most influential of our founding fathers through him promoting the United States Constitution for ratification through the writing of the Federalist Papers, drafting as well as promoting the inclusion of a Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution, as well as being responsible for the creation of what is known today as the Republican Political Party. The Constitution would be finalized and submitted to the states for ratification in September of 1787. While most expected a revised version of the Articles of Confederation, many were ... These events may have left Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority. Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. • 15. What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Bluefin Tuna With The... Dear reader, In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking would you care more if it were a panda . I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions, and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader feel guilty, all of the colors in the ad are dark and gray based which gives a sad and gloomy ambience, and contributes greatly to the guilt trip conveyed to the reader. I also found a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Thomas Nast Influence In the latter part of the nineteenth century, as the United States became more industrialized and larger portions of the population were granted the right to political involvement, newspapers became an increasingly important source of information. Those who could effectively portray the events of the time in a way accessible to the common man held the key to political influence. But there was another facet to this business: it was, above all, important to be able to reach the uneducated masses. Cartoonist Thomas Nast did just that, using his artistic skill to caricature inequality in weekly political magazines over the course of his 40 year career. It is widely agreed that Nast had an influence unparalleled by nearly any other in American history;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, these comics were published at a time when the United States had the highest newspaper circulation per capita in the world; everyone had access to these cartoons (Leepson 54). Therefore, Nast could use his illustrations to turn politics into a tangible, understandable topic for the American masses; in doing this, Nast paved the way for future illustrators and journalists, such as Homer Davenport, who went on to caricaturize corruption just as his predecessor had (Wang, ... • 17. Reflection Of The Incredibles The Incredibles is more than a hero s journey; it also explores the ties between faith and family. Although watching this movie does not reveal this fact immediately, we can understand this film through a deep understanding and knowledge of Ostwalt s theory in his journal, Religion Popular Movies. To begin, Ostwalt outlines three categories in which films can fall into: theological, mythological and ideological. These three categories are intrinsic in nature making sense semantically but Ostwalt delves deeper into the meanings in his journal and describes instances in which viewers can relate. The Incredibles, in this case, falls under a mythological and critical lens. With this information, we can start to uncover the easter eggs that Brad Bird, the director of The Incredibles, has left for us. This film teaches us the importance of recognizing and accepting the gifts that God has given us. The characters experience growth only when they have wholeheartedly embraced the gifts that have been given to them. Once they fully accept and understand their gifts, we see them flourish. Imagine living in a time when superheroes are shunned for saving people; when helping people is a taboo. A time when superheroes like Mr. Incredible and Frozone are subjected to listening to police scanners in the night, like vigilantes, when they were originally admired by many for their kind and selfless acts; this is the setting of Pixar s The Incredibles. • 18. DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except the central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the associated decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the pros and cons of this concept. A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the show. The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized setup. Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and adopt the methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere. One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation, etc. Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is decentralized. Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization. Disadvantages of Decentralization Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture. As you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision. A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between local managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent functions may suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been delegated. In addition, there is costly duplication ... As a leader you must use the best leadership style that will work best for you that will in due time work in the better interest of the company. You must learn to use different styles because different situations call for different actions. Choosing the right type of style, at the right time, in the right situation makes a good leader. Later the Bulmers married into the powerful Neville family. The Nevilles became lords of the manor in 1331 after the Bulmers male lineage failed. INTRODUCTION Romans 5:1 to 11 is based on reconciliation though the death of Jesus Christ and subsequent hope and blessings that follows with faith. In this essay, I will discuss the text before the verses to provide context, the historical background behind the text, the literary context, and the content. Lastly I will make an exegetical summary on what the text hopes to accomplish, a theological witness explaining what the text reveals about God, and eventually interpreting how it can be applied in our own lives. PERICOPE Chapter 4 gives examples of people living in/ having faith since the beginning. Abraham had faith in God and God blessed him. Paul then mentions that God blessed Abraham even when he was uncircumcised, a nod to Gentile Christians, even though Circumcision was considered proof of faith. God rewards Abraham s faith by letting his wife become pregnant at 100 years old. As Osborne explains, there is a significant shift of focus between the two chapters; chapter four centering on the necessity of faith for salvation while chapter five is on the effects of that salvation on the lives and experiences of believers (Osborne 124). In the HCSB version, Paul uses transition phrase, therefore, to move into chapter 5 to talk about the blessings of faith, how god shows his love through Christ, making us at peace with God again. To a modern audience, a comedic biblical character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s executioners as they struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when examining exactly how those characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those characters may not be wholly blasphemous in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners only make the audience laugh at Jesus s crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark and the great flood include comedic characters, yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous. Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in these plays seems more nuanced. In the York Corpus ChristiPlay The Building of the Ark, Noah s piety is established through his undying trust in God and his general... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout his encounter with God, Noah does not question God s intentions or his plan. The only thing Noah questions is his own ability to perform such great actions (which is, again, related to his pious humility), never God s general plan. Not only is Noah humble, he is also obedient and trusts in his God. In attributing Noah s piety to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the Ark subsequently praises these attributes and establishes them as virtues. One in four people suffer from mental illness, and more often than not, those affected with mental illness are not treated. It is not an illness you can see or touch, but an illness in the mind, and today s society does not see it as an issue worth discussing. Imagine if you suffered from a mental illnessand were not able to receive the help you needed to have a good quality of life. In developing countries, this is not just imagination, however but a harsh reality. They will statically unhealthier and will live shorter lives compared to those who do not suffer from any form of mental illness. ( Transcript of Mental healthfor all by involving all ) Dr. Vikram Patel, a Psychiatrist and Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropic Medicine, has a plan to change all that. Patel s idea is to train individuals in developing countries to be able to perform basic psychological treatment to those affected in rural or developing areas. To begin a way to get proper mental health care treatment to other areas, Patel has established a plan of action to get that care to certain individuals by receiving it from people they trust, their very own neighbors. This type of health care system has been around for centuries in different ways. The Native Americans had the Medicine Man, and the Europeans had the mid wife. London began writing in the year of 1893 after his mother encouraged him to write his story and submit it into a writing contest. If you have ever came across one of London s novels you have probably noticed the similarities of setting, theme, and the protagonist. London s novels The Call of the Wind and White Fangshare several of those similarities. London uses similarities throughout the settings in The Call of the Wind and White Fang. Both novels take place in the freezing Yukon territory. The snow walls pressed him on every side, and a great surge of fear swept through him the fear of the wild thing for the trap. The muscles of his whole body contracted spasmodically and instinctively (London 30). In The Call of the Wind, London shows Buck s animal fear and his more advanced level of fear. In using metaphors this elevated the images and emotions that are described by the author. Out of the night that covers me (1) is the first metaphor that will be read in the poem. Night is represents the feeling of suffering and pain that the author is trying to describe during this poem. Also Night could be referring to the darkest part of the day which would be comparing night to the worst that is to come. The next example of a metaphor is in the third stanza. Looms but the horror of the shade (10). By saying that, shade is an unexpected life event. Shade could also be used to foreshadow the incidents that are to come. That will create a trail that one must overcome. The last example of a metaphor is also found in the third stanza. And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid (11,12). As a result of her father leaving when she was young, she felt that males were not good enough for her and she developed a strong sense of feminism. In fact, for awhile, Georgia explored her sexuality and dated predominantly women for a significant part of her life. This factor did effect her painting, but not in a sexual way. She painted images that were close ups , allowing you to see deep into them and to be close to them. She yearned to be close to someone but was afraid to be hurt again. It may be more accurate to read her drawings as intimations of a less literal and more profound view of reality. (Peters 29) Georgia grew up in a time where people still had little respect for women. • 49. Nt1330 Unit 1 Lab Report In this section we first briefly explain the properties of a first order Delta Sigma modulated bit stream. Based on these properties, we propose the P N pair method to process the Delta Sigma modulated bit streams. A Delta Sigma modulator converts an analog input signal to a Delta Sigma modulated digital bit stream. A first order Delta Sigma modulator consists of an analog integrator, a one bit ADC, and a one bit digital to analog converter (DAC), as shown in Fig. 2. In the Delta Sigma modulator circuit, the analog input port and the digital output port can use either dual power supplies or a single power supply. To avoid confusion, we use P and N to represent the polarity of the output digital signals. P means a digital positive value true , while N means a digital negative value false . We use numbers to represent digital or analog levels. For example, в€’1 and +1 represent the dual power supply level VSS and VDD, respectively. 0 means analog ground, which is 0 volts in a dual power system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the input is positive, the digital output bit stream contains more P bits than N bits. There can be consecutive P bits, but each N bit is separated by at least one P bit. Thus, there are no adjacent N bits when the input is positive. Similarly, when the input is negative, the output bit stream consists of single P bits separated by one or more N bits. A Delta Sigma bit stream toggles equally between N bits and P bits when its analog value is 0. Delta Sigma modulation is a type of Pulse Density Modulation (PDM), which means the output digital bit stream can be converted back to an analog value using a digital moving average filter. Therefore, in a Delta Sigma modulated bit sequence ai, which has a total of W bits, if there are n bits having the value N, and p bits having the value P, then the analog value y of this bit sequence can be written ... • 52. The Chimney Sweeper By William Blake The end of the eighteenth century was a dangerous time to be a child living in England; common folk everywhere were struggling to get by. Parents could not afford to feed and care for their children, so mothers and fathers had no choice but to sell their sons and daughters. Unfortunately, the career that children were forced into was chimney sweeping, which had a terrifyingly high mortality rate. The poem, The Chimney Sweeper , written by William Blake, tells the heartbreaking story of a child who is sold into chimney sweeping at a young age and leads a devastating life. After reading Blake s poem about the sweepers, one may begin to wonder how it was possible for children to be treated so poorly, and how the king of that time could allow conditions for his people to get so bad. Thomas Paineshared his opinion on the caste system in his work Rights of Man. Paine explains that there are plenty of people that have lived undesirable lives for the king who are not acknowledged in politics, like the common folk who have been let down by the flawed caste system, including the chimney sweepers and other laborers. Because of the immense inequality taking place during this time, simply through birthrights, it becomes an important topic to focus in on.
