A Day Treatment For Psychiatric Patients
When charged with building a day treatment for psychiatric patients that includes a population of
schizophrenia, bi polar disorder and various types of addictions, you have to come up with a safe
environment, detailed activities, and interact with the patients to set meaningful goals.
Occupational Therapy is a profession that teaches meaningful, functional, and adaptive life skills.
OT services can be beneficial to psychiatric patients because the negative cycle and disease is
reversed by incorporating occupation. Early, Fourth Ed stated Moral treatment was a pivotal stage
in the development of psychiatry as a separate medical discipline (Page 4). Designed to benefit
mentally ill patients, to protect and ensure that everyone is being... Show more content on

(or a group disorders) marked by severely impaired thinking, emotions, and behaviors.
Schizophrenia patients are typically unable to filter sensory stimuli and may have enhanced
perceptions of sounds, colors, and other features of their environment (2003 2015). As described
by Optimist Homeopathy: Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder or a group of disorders marked
by severely impaired thinking, emotions and behaviors. If untreated, most schizophrenic s
gradually loose interactions with others and their ability to take care of personal needs and
grooming. Schizophrenia is classified into two main types: positive and negative, where delusions
and hallucinations are presented (Optomist Homeopathy, n.d.) . According to the Mayo Foundation
for Medical Education and Research, Bi polar disorder was formerly called manic depression,
causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows
(depression). The up and down moods of bipolar disorders present constant challenges in

Analysis Of Humor In Angel Puss
The rest of the episode consists of the cat constantly outsmarting Sambo. With a slight grin on his
face, the cat moves the fence a few feet over, tricking Sambo to enter the wrong house. Now in
the house, he easily sneaks up behind Sambo. Leaning in, he whispers a faint, Boo. Screeching,
Sambo jumps out of his skin and then bolts in the opposite direction. This torture continues for
some time and then to the cat s dismay, the two fall into a lake. The paint quickly washes off,
exposing the cat. Puzzled, Sambo eventually realises he has been duped. Quickly, he gathers his
gun, corners the cat, and shots him five times. With a giant grin on his face Sambo finally feels
relief, but alas, the cat turns into nine real ghosts and begins to... Show more content on

He has a droopy hat riddled with holes and is wearing unbuttoned overalls with fabric patches,
looking like a poor farmboy. Also, he committed a crime against his better judgement, just to get a
few bucks which shows his low economic status. Sambo s socioeconomic status and appearance
encourage feelings of superiority over the stereotypical poor, unhuman African American.
Additionally, his behavior encourages the poor unintelligent African American stereotypeof the
1930s. Many times he can barely function as a human through the episode. Normal behaviors
that most humans do with ease, like walking and talking, Sambo struggles with. He takes long
strides while methodologically thinking about each step in his head, and then stumbles with
most steps. Moreover, his speech skills are not to par with normal language abilities of a boy his
age. At the beginning of Angel Puss, his sorrowful song is nearly impossible to understand with
his heavy southern accent coupled with poor grammar. Likewise, his speech is slow and riddled
with stutters, implying that he did not receive a proper education to speak properly. His inability
to do basic human processes dehumanizes Sambo, making him inferior and easy to laugh at. Later
in the episode, Sambo is running for his life from what he thinks is a ghost. Wanting to mess with
Sambo even more, the cat starts rolling dice in his hands. Sambo hears the dice and begins to slow
down and eventually comes to a

Reflection On The Root Cellar
Since the beginning of September, I have been attending the Root Cellar in Portland Maine. My
work has varied time to time, but, mostly includes watching and hanging out with kids from age 5
18. I also helped with projects around the organization and preparing meals for kids. Throughout
my time at the root cellar, I have noticed multiple scenarios where concepts we learn in the
classroom are evident with my experiences at this organization.
The first concept or chapter I am going to focus on is education. They provide multiple services for
the students attending to perform well in school and get extra help on homework or any other school
work. They provide private tutors for free in which they will help students with specific subjects.
Two times specifically stand out to me when thinking about the concept of education. The first
was when I was walking by and witnessed an older gentleman helping a student for about an hour
with his english homework. Next was when a little boy in the 4th grade came up to me and asked
for some help with his math homework. He was learning how to multiply numbers and I taught him
the multiplying nines trick on his hands. He was so amazed by this and was very thankful which
made my whole experience at The Root Cellar worth it.
The second concept I experienced was economic inequality. This is very apparent with people who
come into the root cellar as they are seeking assistance. My last time volunteering I noticed this as I
was picking up

The House Of The Scorpion
A utopia is an imagined or fantasied place that is flawless. The expectation for a utopia is to be
perfect. Everyone has their own perfect imagined place that they want to live in. The truth is, not
every utopia is perfect. Many utopias have dangers, bad people, and a lot of the time people don t
agree with the utopia. The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Zootopia by Phil Johnson and
Jared Bush, The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson are great examples of utopias that aren t perfect.
Utopias can be very dangerous. For example, in the book The House of the Scorpion by Nancy
Farmer many people get injured and even die. The utopia was only perfect for the leader ... Show

Utopia Argumentative Essay
D Block
Every family draws a ticket out of a black box. If you get the ticket with the black dot then you
are stoned to death by the other families in the village. They do this because the town s
population is way too big. Mrs. Hutchinson drew the ticket with the black dot on it. She even
said, It isn t fair, it isn t right. She was very frightened but didn t know what to do. She didn t
agree with what was about to happen. The leader Mr. Summers was the only person not to get a
ticket because he was the leader.
This shows that not everyone agrees with utopias. In conclusion, all of my evidence shows that
utopias aren t perfect. As I stated in my introduction, utopias have many bad people, dangers, and
not a lot of people agree with a perfect utopia. Sir
Thomas More was the first person to create a utopia in 1516. Utopia is from a Greek ou topos
meaning of no place or nowhere . This word actually meant a good place. Utopias can be dystopias
for some people. Now we have the knowledge to know that utopias aren t always a so called

Ebay Strategic Analysis
Executive Summary
This report seeks to evaluate the major issue facing eBay with regards to its international strategy.
This will be done through the analysis of eBay s competitive environment using the Porter s 5
forces and positioning in the industry using the BCG portfolio matrix. Following which, we will
proceed to identify the sustainable competitive advantages of eBay using the resource based view
of the firm. The core competence of eBay will also be discussed. Through an overview of the
above mentioned analyses, we will propose recommendations to address the problem faced by eBay.
Major Issue
From the case, our group has identified a major issue which is imperative to eBay s future growth
and sustainability.
EBay has been doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it should be noted that not all webhosting companies are able to host the colossal traffic
required by eBay. In addition, eBay would preferably choose a webhosting option that is reliable
and offers round the clock customer service since people conduct business over eBay round the
clock.
Next, there is a moderate threat of substitute services. More and more offline companies are
tapping on the vast potential of the online market through the creation of their online retail sites.
For example, if someone wants to get a Dell computer, he may choose to go to Dell s online store
to purchase it. However, the uniqueness of the online auction site is that almost everything under
the sun can be listed for sale. If a person is looking to buy something special, he can more often
than not find it listed on eBay.
Lastly, there is a great intensity of rivalry among the competitors in the industry. Because of the
potentially lucrative market in Asia, there are many competitors wanting a slice of the pie and that
includes search engine giant, Google. In China, Alibaba owned Taobao is already providing
intense competition by providing zero listing costs and providing customer service catered to the
needs of the local population[2]. In Korea, Gmarket is also providing intense competition by
continuously introducing new marketing initiatives such as the lucky lottery where buyers may be
able to purchase an item for 10% of its retail

Pacific Ocean West Of Peru
Pacific Ocean west of Peru hit 5 degrees above average, outpacing the abnormally warm
temperatures seen at this time of year in 1997, which developed into the strongest El NiГ±o on
record (latimes.com). California and a majority of South America have gotten unusual rainfall since
January because of this El Nino effect. Mudslides, heavy rainfall, one storm after another like a
conveyor belt, is how they described the oncoming weatherfor the Western region. This rise in sea
temperature did not just cause heavy rainfall in the western states and the South America
countries but caused droughts in places like Australia and Indonesia. The frequency of category
4 and 5 hurricanes have been more common since the early 80 s. El NiГ±o has already caused
major effects across the world, fueling an active and unusually powerful hurricane season in the
eastern Pacific Ocean, including Hurricane Patricia, which hit Mexico (latimes.com). In addition
to the elevated rainfall, it pushed hurricane season forward in Mexico and surroundings states.
The world has experienced nine years since the last massive hurricane. This is a record soon to be
broken because of the global warming effects. The Artic is becoming less artic and hot climates
are only getting hotter. Ice takes up approximately 10% of Earth s surface. Arctic sea ice is at its
lowest every year in September. Now, artic ice is declining at a rate of 13.4% every decade since

Compare And Contrast The Iphone 7 Plus Vs. Samsung Galaxy...
Compare and Contrast
Ecstatic, anxious, and thrilled are the emotions that run through seemingly every single teenager
when the newest smartphone hits the market. Yet, numerous teens run into the same debate every
time the top smartphone creators release their new devices. Teens are presented with the dilemma
of choosing which phone to buy. In order to decide teens will often rely on peer pressure,
whichever phone is released first, or the phone that their parents choose. The iPhone 7 Plus and the
Samsung Galaxy S8+ are the most recent releases that have imposed distress upon teens trying to
choose one phone over the other. However, when contrasting the iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung
Galaxy S8+ is it undeniable that teens should prefer to buy the Samsung Galaxy S8+ due to the
fact that it is the considerably superior device.
For teens who rely on their parents to pay for their phones, or work in order to buy their own
phones the deciding factor on which phone to buy is the price. According to the Apple.com, the
iPhone 7 Plus retails for $969 with a charge port included. It is important to mention that this
does not include accessories such as earbuds. Everything else is sold separately. According to
Samsung.com, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ retails for $850 with included accessories such as
earbuds, USB cord, and a charging port. Although the difference in price may only be about
$100 this can make a significant difference. When buying new phone teens, will expectedly want
to buy accessories for it. Such as a case, earbuds, screen protector and so on. Taking all these
facts into consideration it is obvious that the SGs8+ is the better option. The Samsung
accessories retail at lower prices and some of the accessories come included when the phone is
purchased. Purchasing the iPhone 7 plus and all the desired accessories surely bring the bill to
over $1000 which few parents will want to pay for a phone. The SGS8+ is a much cheaper choice
with even more significant qualities.
In addition to the cost, customers and the companies that create smartphones, focus on the quality of
the smartphone. Quality consists of numerous factors such as the camera quality, screen resolution,
sound quality, microphone quality and so

The Recovery Room
From the birth of the recovery room in the 1940s to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) of the
21th century, the look and function of this unit have been in a constant state of evolution.
Throughout the six past decades, surgical procedures have become more extensive and
complicated and thus require more specially prepared nursing staff and equipment for the care of
the patient (Odom Forren, 2013). The PACU of today is an intensive care specialty that provides
care to wide range surgical patients. Many of these patients have more than one chronic condition,
such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic pain, and chronic heart
problems. In order to provide safe patient care, the PACU nurseneeds to develop the ability to blend
expert clinical knowledge that is based on experience, education, and collegial sharing with caring
practices that comes from within and from being a nurse (Odom Forren, 2013).
For many years, critical care experience was a must have requirement prior to working in the
PACU. The PACU was staffed with experienced intensive care unit (ICU) nurses with different
backgrounds and a solid nursing knowledge base. Nowadays, many of these nurses are retiring or
taking different paths in their careers forcing the PACU managers to revise hiring requirements and
open the PACU doors to non ICU and new graduate nurses. In order to assist the new graduate
nurses transition to their professional roles in the critical care setting, the Christ

On June 1st, on my way to Eisenhower Library at Abilene, KS by taking the I 70 highway, I
stopped at Independence, MO, where the Truman Library is located. Although this visit was not
listed in my research plan, I spent half a day in its reading room and went over six folders kept in
two boxes: Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, White House Official Files OF 471B, Box 1499
and 1500. The folders are primarily about the issues regarding the prisoners of war in the Korean

After leaving Truman Library, I proceeded to Dwight D. EisenhowerPresidential Library as
planned on June 2nd. When making the plan, I significantly underestimated by reading speed. As
a result, even I went over much more folders than planned; it only took me three days in this
library. Here is a list of the boxes I have consulted during the first week of June:
DDE Library, White House Central Files, Official Files, 1953 1961, Box 87, 88
DDE Library, White House Central Files, General Files, Box 227, 228, 686, 937, 1285
DDE Library, White House Central Files, Alpha Files, Box 2503, 3197
These eight boxes contain the missing members of the armed forces during Eisenhower s
presidency, as well as prisoners of war and memorials. These boxes keep letters between family
members and the White House shortly after the Korean War (up to 1961). Most of them are the
families cry for returning their relatives, though most of them still remain missing today. An
interesting phenomenon is that the words of these families gradually developed from begging to
furious, then to sarcastic. The family members also launched a campaign by sending back medals
or personal artifacts of their sons or husbands to remind the president of the missing servicemen and
to criticize the governments contact with the Soviet and China. The Box 1285 holds the
government policies in dealing with a nascent family organization which mobilized several
hundreds of families to Washington, DC and urged the

What Are Arthur Ashe s Challenges
Arthur Ashe once said Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important
than the outcome. That quote describes exactly how the life of Arthur Ashe was. He had many
challenges and obstacles in his life but also accomplished a lot. Some of his challenges were having
health problems, being an African American playing professional tennis. Even though he had many
challenges he was inspiring people during this time and still is today.
One of his challenges was having health problems that he started realizing late.
Over the years he had a heart problem that he had to get several surgeries for it. Especially in the
last 14 years of his life just his health just kept getting worse. Another problem he had was that in
1988 he needed brain surgery after he lost the ability to move his left arm. During that stay at the

Herodotus On The Customs Of Persians
This essays point is to analyze the primary source and review what the document tells us about
the Persians and what it might be telling us about the Greeks. The primary source being used is
On the Customs of Persians by Herodotus which is written from his view point on the Persians
in comparison to the Greeks customs and beliefs. This paper will discuss the similarities and
differences between the two with evidence found in the primary source to back it up with quotes
and explanations to why it s important. The Greeks and Persians while sharing some similarities
they are outweighed by the two s differences such as; their image in god, sacrificing rituals,
customs, and death rituals. The first difference we see between the two and could also be the
biggest, is the Persians not having a set image of god since the Greeks see their gods as in the
same nature as man. We can infer this to Persians by this quote: They have no images of god, no
temples nor alters, and consider them a sign of folly. (Herodotus par.2) Which tells us they do not
see gods as an image of man like the Greeks, they would see it foolish to think of them as mere

them having several wives, and still larger number of concubines. (Herodotus par.6) This quote

they both seem to share. It also tells us that the Persians seem to like and adopt certain foreign
customs that they see to be as superior or as of a luxury to them, while the Greeks are more to
keeping of their own customs instead of adopting new ones or modify the ones they already have.

Essay on The Immorality of Child Labor
The Immorality of Child Labor
Child labor is a serious moral issue. There have been many controversial debates over whether it
should be legal or not. Two different viewpoints on the subject exist. Many argue that child labor is
morally wrong and that the children should not work, no matter how poverty stricken their family
might be. Advocates and major corporations that support child labor argue that it is good because it
gives poverty stricken families a source of income.
Child labor first appeared with the development of domestic systems (when people became
civilized). It was widely practiced in England, America, and other countries during the 16th 18th
centuries. Children were paid very little for the dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His ?Master? gave him no money for the long hours he worked. He also stated that he was ?hit

Children who are forced to work also miss out on life and their chance for a good education. ?In
Pakistan, I talked to a boy making bricks. He had been sold into labor by his grandfather to pay a
debt. ?Would you like to go to school?? I asked him.
?What is school?? he asked me.? (Kielberger, 5.) In India, only 64% of males and 39% of females

When children are forced to work at a young age, they can also develop serious health problems.
?Health problems are compounded for children because they are more susceptible than adults to the

Child labor is necessary in some places because poor families need the extra income this will bring.

Trial By Jury Essay
A Jury plays a necessary part in the criminal justice system in England and Wales. Trial by jury is
one of the ways that could be useful for reaching justice in the courts. The jury has 12 citizens who
are chosen randomly from different genders and different ages. (The Guardian, 2005) the jurors
work is to help the judgeto a make decision about the case so the lawyers show them the evidence
and anything related to the case and then the jurors will try to make the right judgment whether the
criminal is guilty or not. People argue that they want the trialwithout the jurysystem because it is
not fair enough and there are other reasons such as the jurors do not have enough experience, jury

For instance, the juror could take bribe from the criminal to be in his or hers side. An example can
be mentioned here is the case of Vybz Kartel. According to AP NEWS (2013) there was a male
juror arrested because he tried to bribe the jury foreman to release Vybz Kartel (BBC NEWS 2014).
However, the chance of being corrupted for the jury is less than the judge. For example, it is
difficult to have 12 corrupted jurors as well as even the judge can be corrupted. According to BBC
NEWS (2013), the judge Akil Mochtar has been arrested regarding acceptance of taking a bribe of
ВЈ154,000.
Finally, there is an argument confirmed that, the jury system cost too much money. So to clarify
this argument Brian Kelly in the BBC NEWS mentioned that, the jury trial costs more than ВЈ8,000
per day. Also Guy Hammond from the BBC NEWS said, I realise that the court system is costing
taxpayers millions so it is cost too much money (BBC NEWS ,2001). However, the argument
against this say that the high cost of the jury system is the price of the justice so it does not matter
how much it will cost (BBC NEWS,

An Analysis of Sacrifice in Arthur Miller s All My Sons
In All My Sons sacrifice plays a crucial role in almost every part of the play. Miller explores the
impact of sacrifices made for one s family versus humanity as a whole, explicitly the direction and
intention of a sacrifice. As part of this essay, I will identify and explain what I consider to be the
most important in the play. The second aspect of sacrificein All My Sonswhich I will examine in
this essay involves the idea that not all sacrifices are actually conscious decisions; many of the
acts of sacrifice in the play could be explained simply by an escape does Joe Keller kill himself as a
final realisation of the crimes that he has committed or just as an escape from the pressure around
him?
When we first encounter the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the concept of a fine hairline crack could also be grafted onto Keller as a person: he
has a serious and life threatening flaw which is only revealed after close inspection.
In a sense, throughout the play Miller is also suggesting that just as an individual can thoroughly
disrupt a family, so can an individual completely eviscerate a society linking back to the idea of a
small crack and its massive outcome. Just as Joe Keller s denials lead to his family being torn
apart, so Miller is implying that the same is true on a much larger humanitarian scale.
As well as sacrificing morality, it is clear that towards the climax of the play, Joe sacrifices
responsibility in order to preserve himself. On page 55 George is having an argument with
Chris, Joe Keller s son when he says: And he s the kind of boss to let a hundred and twenty one
cylinder heads be repaired and shipped out of his shop without even knowing about it? This
questioning towards Keller is interesting because it shows us that George thinks he is responsible
and he even comes up with a diligent retort later on the same page which makes Joe seem like a
responsible boss; even to the audience: The same Joe Keller who never left his shop without first
going round to see that all the lights were out. This seemingly un arguable confirmation that Joe is
a responsible person is torn apart when we witness George, in a very accusatory manner, shout at
Ann: He simply told your father

Musee De Louvre Research Paper
The Musee de Louvre was the place I was most excited about when coming to France, and I have
to say that I was not disappointed with it in the slightest. The one thing that I do regret coming
into this was not knowing the background and history of the Louvre and a majority of its works.
After doing some research, I came across the history and mission of The Musee de Louvreand I was
fascinated with what I read: from knowing that The Louvre was originally created as a fortress to
finding out how hard the architects and designers worked so hard to make it an accessible place
for all. The Louvre was originally created in the early 12th century while Francewas under the 43
year reign of Phillipe Auguste. During this time, a barricade was built to protect Parisfrom the
Anglo Norman threat. France reinforced its defense with a fortress, which is today known as
The Musee de Louvre. I found it neat that The Louvre was created so long ago and for such a
different purpose. Most major places, such as the Palace of Versailles, were created to be a
palace for the people to live in, but the Louvre was created for a much greater purpose: to protect
the city. I believe that its original purpose has a huge affect on why it is so well known and
means so much to the country of France today. In the first few years of the life of The Louvre, a...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The introduction of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the field of cognitive neuroscience had a
profound impact on the ability of researchers to localize and record cognitive activity in the human
brain. Created by a group led by Ramon Damadian in 1976, this cranial imaging technology finally
bridged the gap between the cognitive outputs of behavior and the inner regions of the brainwith
profound accuracy (Clark, 2007). Surprisingly, the implications for MRI scans are perhaps most
significant in the field of lie detection. As stated by Melissa Littlefield in one of her publications on
the subject, MRI technology represents a quantum leap for deception researchers (Littlefield, 2011).
This is primarily due to the fact that governments, law enforcement,... Show more content on

the CNS. The goal of the study was to localize active regions during truth and lie generation and
determine if an accurate deception fMRI model could be established from the results. To perform
the truth and lie comparisons, the experimenters administered the Guilty Knowledge Task to a
group of 26 college students during fMRI scanning sessions. Participants were given a set of cards
and instructed to lie about a random card during the testing period. Langleben et al. used four
different truth and lie conditions using cognitive subtraction to determine changes in activation
patterns. The results from the study were clear. The researchers confirmed their hypotheses that the
regions of interest for deception included the inferior lateral prefrontal and medial superior frontal
regions. These areas contain intercortical networks responsible for attention, working memory, and
response inhibition. Specifically, the prefrontal cortex was determined to be significantly predictive
in discerning lies from truths. Langleben et al. suggested that the intensive load placed on working
memory during lie emphasized trials indicated that truth generation occurred more anteriorly

Sandhill Crane Bird Essay
For my project, I chose a bird I see quite regularly on campus. That bird is the Sandhill Crane. It
is a tall bird with a long slender neck and beak, rusty grey feathers, and long legs. They are about
1 1.2 meters, or a little over 3 feet tall. In addition to their ginormous height, for a bird, their
wingspan is as equally magnificent; measuring in at roughly 1.8 2 meters, or 5.9 feet! This is quite
an impressive wingspan.
This is a bird I see year round all over Florida, though the Birds of North America chart shows that
they are in Polk County during the winter months. The Sandhill Crane can be found in wetlands or
grassy fields near wetland looking for food or even a place to breed. This type of eco system is
best for this bird because it is designed to walk around and look for food such as crawfish,
worms, snakes, mice, eggs, etc. Obviously, this bird is not meant to be perched up in a tree
somewhere; but rather it is seen walking around grasslands instead of flying. Its long legs give it
a huge advantage for hunting; essentially, they help the bird be able to stand in shallow water
and still be well above the surface of the water to search for prey. However, a Sandhill Cranes diet
is only partially meat. In most cases they can be found eating plant material around a wetland, or
even some crops from and agricultural field.
Sandhill Cranes are mostly active during daylight hours only; unless it is during a migration season,
in which some birds will complete their

Prolonged practices and extensive team meetings take up most of the athletes time to workout or
train during the busy season. As a result, an athlete may start to lose some weight and strength that
they gained during the off season period of training. A clear difference can be seen in the overall
goal of in season training compared to off season training. Maintaining strength rather than trying to
build strength during the season can prevent an athlete from the effects of overtraining. Generally
an athlete should focus on maintaining strength and staying flexible during the physically
demanding load of the season. All in all off season training is more taxing whereas in season
training centers around maintaining strength and energy as well as the flexibility of the athlete.

Essay on Ancient Egyptian economic surplus
Effects of Economic Surplus: Egypt Ancient Egypt is such an interesting and amazing society to
study due to the various factors that allowed the city and population to thrive. The culture, quite
different to other cultures around the world in ancient times, developed quite unique traditions,
technologies and ideas. Small features of this society including aligning the 4 corners of the
pyramids and being able to divide the year into 365 days makes it truly fascinating, The main
reason that this society was able to thrive and be successful can be attributed to the great Nile
River. Due to this people were able to settle which lead to the creation of a surplus, which could be
sustained for around 2000 years.
How is the Surplus Created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Old Kingdom from Ancient Egypt was considered to be the most successful part of their
history. The economic surplus was great and the Pharaoh was ruling all of Egyptsuccessfully. This
allowed the civilization to thrive and led to the construction of the great pyramids. However the
people of ancient Egypt had the biggest roles in controlling the economic surplus as they grew
crops and constructed buildings for the population to grow and flourish.
Who Protects the Surplus? As well as controlling the surplus, the Pharaoh had the head duties of
protecting it. The ancient Egyptians used many unique factors to help protect their civilization.
Soldiers were used, much like in other ancient civilizations, to protect the Nile River, expand
their land settlement area and support the rule of the Pharaoh. During the New Kingdom,
Egyptian armies became a powerhouse and very active allowing for expansion. Ancient Egypt
could be protected quite well due to environmental factors including the river and desert. The
river being surround by 1000 s of miles of desert made it easier to predict where attacks may
come from. The Nile itself was also be able to used thanks to its slow moving nature. This provided
a great highway that promoted economic and political stability and uniformity (Lockard, 2011).
How are those within the civilization who do not control or protect the surplus affected by it? The

Henry Fleming In Red Badge Of Courage Essay
Henry Fleming in Red Badge of Courage
The Civil War forced many young boys out of childhood and into adulthood. Most of these young
boys were not prepared for war, and Henry Fleming was one of these boys.
Henry Fleming s life in New York was routine. He had his normal share of friends and lived on a
farm. When Henry got up in the mornings, he always knew exactly what the day had in store for
him. This simple and boring life drove
Henry to enlist.
Henry wanted some excitement and to be seen by everyone as a hero. He wanted to be a man.
However, his mother was strictly against his joining the Union Army.
She thought that the Army was for rough and uncivilized heathens.

After hearing the tales of battle, Henry began to be intimidated by fear. Would he run when faced
with death or would he have the courage to fight? This question was always on
Henry s mind. Finally, after many months of monotonous camp life, the question was answered.
After hours of marching one day, Henry s regiment met with a
Rebel battalion. When gunfire erupted, Henry sprung up and ran. He ran with
the zeal of an insane sprinter. Now Henry had the answer to his question, he was a coward. After
his flight from battle, Henry met a group of soldiers who were wounded. He felt guilty because
he was unmarked. He wanted to be wounded like them so he could have his own Red Badge of
Courage.
Henry did get his badge of courage on his return to his detachment. Ironically, it was from the butt
of a fellow soldier s rifle. Now he was determined to prove himself and show that he would not run
again. War used to be something
Henry could not imagine fighting in, but now it was his obsession. When the time came he did
more than just stand up to his fear, he led the charge against the Rebels and was noticed for his
heroic actions by the commander. After the battle he felt as if he had crossed a bridge from being
an inexperienced, frightened young boy to a strong and heroic soldier.
The war was the catalyst that propelled Henry into manhood. Henry leaped into manhood by having

Free Trade Agreement and Its Affect on Canadian Business...
Free Trade Agreement and Its Affect on Canadian Business
With the coming of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) there have been very serious implications for
Canadian business and for that matter, Canada as a whole. Many aspects of the previous economic
climate have changed such as the reduction or eliminatation of tariffs and the restrictions on
subsidies to name only a few. There has been much heated debate on the pros and cons of this
deal: whether Canada will prosper or become the 51st. American state. This paper will not take
this approach to the issue of whether or not it is a wise agreement, but will look at what business
can do to better itself with the existing FTA.

Another reason for a dire need for an increase in efficiency is the trade relationship we are
currently involved in. While countries in say the EEC are in more or less the same economic
power bracket between Canada and the US, there is a major size difference. So if we are to have
any hope of competing with a power so large clearly we must become more efficient even more so
than other countries.
Another key aspect which business must deal with is that of becoming better suited to dealing with
the North American, and to a lesser extent, other foreign markets rather than only to Canadian or
even in some cases, to provincial markets. Corporations which do so stand far better of to gain
from the FTA than those that do not. It would be wise for the example of
Northern Telcom Ltd. to be followed. Where production and market presence are global and not just
Canadian. Unfortunately many companies are not following this example and are still very much
Canadian in their outlook.

Abstract The paper here presents the model of a walking stick that alerts visually challenged
people over obstacles by use of electronic sensors and controllers. Very few of the navigation aids
available for visually challenged people can provide dynamic navigation and which work
perfectly for day to day navigation requirements (The white cane and walk dogs are not safe for
today s increasing traffic and insensitive world). This model here demonstrates a system concept
to provide an electronic aid for blind people which would benefit the challenged person for his
daily travelling, whether it be indoors or outdoors. The aim of system is to provide a sense of
artificial vision by alerting the subject about the environmental scenario of static and dynamic
objects around them. In this system, an ultrasonic sensor, an atmega16 controller, a buzzer and a
vibration motor is used.

Model Minority Myth Essay
1.Model Minority Myth: Asian Americans have generally been typified as the model minority
which refers to a perception of them being naturally gifted, hardworking and socially passive (Asian
Americans in Higher Education 13) Their ability to perform well academically and to remain
passive in the larger social scheme makes them less threatening than other minorities, especially
African Americans but the model minority myth may have worked against them, especially in the
field of educational attainment. It is believed that due to the model minority myth, Asian Americans
are victims of political exploitation (Chun 1980, p.7) and in education they are denied certain
services which are readily available to other minorities such as preference in higher education
systems.
2: Race: The concept of race is more often than not used as a social construct and it has been
historically used as a means of making laws for the minorities and for the purpose of denying
them certain rights which are easily given to the majority. Social construction of race has also been

Throughout our world s history we have seen many grievous instances where discrimination caused
severely negative repercussions on how our society functions. The inequity demonstrated by our
nation in the past has estranged its residents based on their religion, the color of their skin, their
beliefs, and even their gender. With time, our community has become more accepting which has
led to the abolishment of most, if not all, bigotry and racist beliefs. However, there is still an
issue today that we have been facing for almost a century. This conflict has led to the prohibition
of certain people obtaining a particular job in some cases, and the penalty of being paid less than
her male colleagues if she were to obtain that job. The problem is sexism and its consequences.
The consequences of this type of discrimination lead to unequal pay for the same kind of work.
The American Association of University Women is releasing a new study that shows when men
and women attend the same kind of college, pick the same major and accept the same kind of job,
on average, the woman will still earn 82 cents to every dollar that a man earns (Coleman) . This
embodiment originates from the very popular credence that men provide for women in a family
environment and that the wives are the parent who care for the children at home, therefore making
them more unfocused in their workplace, hence the belief

Sir Robert Peel and American Policing The history of policing dates back several thousand years
ago when there was no order or peace and inhumane acts upon citizens was the norm with religious,
political, or military police acting as the law. Policing was unstable and unorganized. Citizens took
the law into their own hands and served as judge, jury, and executioner. There was not such a thing
as being innocent until proven guilty. If the community believed an individual was guilty of a crime
then the community would handle the offense themselves. American policing stems from the

The United States admired Sir Robert Peel s principals of policing and therefore adopted it to
incorporate into their legal justice system of law enforcement. The government tried to
incorporate Sir Robert Peel s Principals into different cities with no luck or gratitude. In 1838,
Boston became the first city to incorporate these principals and have the first organized policing
in the United States. In 1845, New York City followed suit. Soon thereafter, Philadelphia
followed suit but it did not follow the principals, destroying different forms of policing. Finally,
Philadelphia collaborated their policing style to be organized and uphold order by way of Sir
Robert Peel s Nine Principals. Sir Robert Peel, known as the father of modern policing, set the
foundation for organization and structure in modern day policing in London. The United States
followed behind shortly thereafter to enlist a police force for order, organization, and service. Peel
set up Peel s Nine Principals which the United States still abides by to this day. The father of
policing has helped our government to overcome harsh judgment, corruption, and harsh actions, and
has made it possible for citizens of this society to bond with local law enforcement. This has
allowed our law enforcement to handle situations appropriately and incorporate bigger agencies to

Continuing with the example of Asian Americans from the prior paragraph, we can observe......
Asian Americans are thought to achieve a higher degree of success than the average population.
Asian American students are expected to achieve high marks, play instruments, aspire to be a
physician, and set ambitious goals; they are stereotyped as the model minority. This stigma seems
like it should be a compliment to hard work, but it permeates their lives far beyond the surface
level. These students set incredibly high standards for themselves, and are conditioned to accept
nothing short of perfection in the work that they do. The overwhelming stress of living up to the
highest standards causes students to suffer psychological, emotional, and academic costs, and they
begin to measure their self worth by quantitative achievement; poor performance is indicative of
inferiority. These attitudes are ingrained during developmental years and persist in later years. The
model minority creates an illusion of perfect Asian American students who feel emotionally isolated
and hopeless because their needs become neglected and ignored. Students refuse to seek help in
times of need because doing so seems like admitting failure. When Asian American students fail to
meet academic goals and standards, they suffer from feelings of shame and inadequacy.

Factors That Can Promote or Hinder Enterpreneurship

Entrepreneur: An entrepreneur is a person who starts an enterprise. He searches for change and
responds to it. A number of definitions have been given of an entrepreneur The economists view
him as a fourth factor of production along with land labour and capital.
To put it very simply an entrepreneur is someone who perceives opportunity, organizes resources
needed for exploiting that opportunity and exploits it. Computers, mobile phones, washing

entrepreneurial ideas that got converted into products or services. Some definitions of an

Teamwork. Nobody can achieve anything alone so this is true also for an entrepreneur because

Calculated risk. This is truly one of the most important questions: Are they taking enough risk?
Yes, each business startup is in some level risky. However, more important is how a successful
entrepreneur takes a risk? The word calculated risk is the most appropriate word for this feature. 10.
Self Confidence. Self confidence is a really important and key factor. I think that nobody would be
an entrepreneur if don t have self confidence that he knows how to start and manage their own
business. 11. Experience. Sometimes experience is in category not must have as a factor, but it is
something that will increase business potential energy. They must employ all present and previous
experience they have into the business that they are building. 12. Talent. Talent is something inborn
in an entrepreneur. Sometimes talent can be replaced with knowledge. 13. Honesty. Honesty is

A Romantic And Modernist Perspective

Memory: A Romantic and Modernist Perspective During an age when Britain was producing more
writing than perhaps ever before in its history; romantic writers such as Wordsworth and Coleridge
place a large emphasis on nature and what impact this construct has on the mind and imagination,
while modernist writers such as Hardy, Lawrence, and Yeats attempt to exercise a strong break from
tradition. This ideal of straying from the pack creates a sense of bitterness and radical doubt
throughout the modernist period, and thus, causes citizens living in this time to carry about their
daily activities with doubt and pessimistic attitudes.
After examining the literary movements of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can argue that William Wordsworthbelieves that memory can be utilized as an anecdote that
is able to cure someone s pain, while a writer such as Thomas Hardy would disapprove of this
Wordsworthian ideal by believing that memory is simply a shroud of gray (Vernooy). This
claim can be supported as true when Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern
Abbey is examined more closely. Within this piece, Wordsworth states, These beauteous forms
/Through a long absence, have not been to me/As is a landscape to a blind man s eye/But oft, in
lonely rooms, and mid the din/Of towns and cities, I have owed to them/In hours of weariness,
sensations sweet (Wordsworth 23 27). Here, Wordsworth provides a detailed description about
how nature is able to provide a safe haven for him in a time when Britain s cities are looking to
industrialize more than ever. By personifying nature during this time of economic crisis,
Wordsworth is creating an outlet that aids him in moving forward.
Conversely, Thomas Hardy encompasses the idea of nature and memory by almost insulting
Wordsworth. For instance, Hardy would argue that one cannot sit on the couch and rekindle old
memories in order to transgress, but instead, one needs to be out and about in order to gather as
many physical memories as humanly possible. Within Hardy s Under the Waterfall, the female
persona is attempting to rekindle one of her past memories, which as we all

An Overview Of Aging
An Overview of Aging and Existing Cultural Differences
Society predetermines a specific life course for each person of their community. Missing any stage
of this course is detrimental to the development of the human life. But not all societies have these
stages of life; ergo different cultures define stages differently.
The stages of the life course are childhood, adolescence, adulthood, young adulthood and middle
adulthood, old age and death. Society thinks of childhood as the first twelve years of life. In most
cultures it is known as the time of autonomy from the weight of the grown up world. But in other
societies, such as Taiwan and Indonesia, childhood is seen as another occasion to send someone to
work. The children do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their medical treatment system, taxation system, and social security are not set up properly for the
aging individuals in Japan (Masud, 1999). Death is something, that if not caused by disease or
accident, it occurs during the end of old age. For most cultures such as Canada the average life
span is seventy seven years. However, as mentioned above some cultures, such as Zimbabwe, have
a life span of only thirty eight years so they experience death at a sooner time than others. В‘Today
most cultures have been viewing death more openly, and the trend is to view dying as preferable to
painful or prolonged suffering in hospitals or at home (Macionis Gerber, 2002). Therefore these
cultures are death accepting which teach us that death is something to be welcomed. Although,
there are cultures such as the Hindu culture that are death defying and maintain that death does not
exist. Therefore death is viewed differently from culture to culture.
Aging is multidimensional construct that is defined differently from one culture to the next. Old
age may be viewed as a positive stage of ones life or it may be looked at with a negative
connotation. Depending on ones culture, ideas about aging and growing old may be different for
men and women.
In Canada growing old is not associated with positive images of beautiful women or handsome

Two Approaches Of Leadership And Leadership
Leaders throughout history have displayed many characteristics and traits which make them
who they are, and influence the decisions they make. Whether or not the leader was born with
these traits has never been scientifically proven. However, it is within human nature that we learn
through trial and experience to improve our mental cognitive ability, and therefore leaders are,
until proven otherwise, made not born. Whether a leader is born a leader, or made a leader is
not relevant to the end result. What is relevant is if one of the two approaches of leadership
produces a better leader. Leaders play a large role in society, and great leaders play a large role
in history. Trying to hypothesise whether leaders are born or made is ironic, as by studying that
topic, you are effectively helping to make future leaders. Leaders are crucial to the continuing
development of the human race. Without leaders, the world would hardly change from when
humans first inhabited it. Leaders inspire change, with goals and aims in place to further develop
the human race. While not all leaders have the same ideology as others, they are still reaching to
enhance the population. Leaders have been present throughout all history, and many have played a
large role in how society operates today. Leaders usually show many similar characteristics to each

a successful leader. Of interest however, is

Medical Animal Testing
In 2014 767,622 animals were used for medical research. Without these animals to test on we
would have had to test on other human beings. Who would you rather test on, a rat, or a loved
one? Medical animal testing is needed to keep moving forward in the medical fields and to keep our
society strong. The genetic similarities between humans and the laboratory animals implement
positive results. Since we are so genetically similar to chimpanzees and mice there are no other
alternative options of testing on living organisms other than humanbeings. Our brains are
essentially analogous to the brains of mice and chimpanzees. (Holmes) Humans share 99% of the
same DNA as chimps and 98% of the same DNA as mice. Without the similarities found in these
animals we would not have discovered a lot of the life saving developments we have for humans
and animals today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people that benefit from medical animal testing don t even know they do. (Wolff) A large
number of people don t actually see how much progress we have made because of animal testing.
Penicillin was first found in the Oxford labs after being tested on 20 different mice, the cure for
Parkinson s disease which involved experiments on monkeys, and multiple other life saving
vaccines were also developed there. Oxford scientists are now working on developing a cure for
malaria. All of the vaccines they have created that also helped save millions of lives, were tested on
animals. (Hansen) A main point animal testing protesters make is: the tests cause the animals pain
and they are inhumane. Multiple scientists would like to point out that they do their best to make
sure their tests cause the least amount of pain as possible. Most tests consist of digging, smelling,
running, and swimming. When looking inside of the animal they try to focus on x rays, and non
invasive tests similar to them in hopes of making it less uncomfortable for the

Brazilian Economy
Brazil
Brazil is one of South America s most influential and powerful Countries, and leading its cause to
become one of the world s most influential counties. Brazil is one of the BRICS countries. BRICS
refers to Brazil Russia India China and South Africa becoming economic figures due to their newly
advanced economic development. Much of brazil s increase in wealth comes down to the vast
amount of natural resources in the country such as Iron ore a resource craved by many large
manufacturing nations, furthering this Brazil has recently been able to capitalise on their offshore
oil resources allow them to become self sufficient for energy an area where they previously
struggled and relied heavily on other nations.

Originally intended to combat the 2008 recession, however since the large boom of brazil s
economy, public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at high levels and inflation
currently at 6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%, the fiscal policy has the potential to
create major issues for Brazils long term growth and sustainability. With the need to cut around
2.5% of Government spending in order to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and
interest on its loans Brazil could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and
actually cause further polarisation by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to
reduce its spending comes at a difficult with more expenses than usual to deal with, such as the
world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016, meaning public money needs to be invested
increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and airports. This could cause problems to
Brazil s continued development and success, however if done to success Brazil could benefit from
these great sporting events with possible increased trade, exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically and socially
this can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to its higher levels of GDP in
recent years.

Sexual Rhetors In Response To The Tweeden Scandal
In 2006, Leeann Tweeden was a performer alongside Al Franken on a U.S.O tour abroad. During
transportation from one location to another, Ms. Tweeden fell asleep, Mr. Franken took
advantage of her sleeping state and took a picture with his hands placed over her breasts. She
was not made aware of the pictures existence until she was back in America for quite some time.
According to Tweeden, Franken also forced himself on her while they were rehearsing. Tweeden
came forward after discussing her experience with Democrat Representative Jackie Speier, a
leading voice in ending sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Sexual misconduct among political
leaders in our nation has long been a part of work life on Capitol Hill (Fandos), especially in light
of the prior conduct of our President, the conversation surrounding this topic has never been more
pressing. After examining the rhetoricused by Al Franken and respective media groups in response
to the Tweeden Scandal, it can clearly be observed that the differing motivations of the rhetors
drastically shape the rhetoric produced even though the exigence and audiences are the same.
Firstly, for rhetoric to be established, there must be something to which rhetors respond. The event
must be significant and present (for both the rhetor and audience), so that the response envisioned
by the rhetor can occur. The sexual misconduct of Al Franken is both significant and present
because it enters into the dialogue surrounding the post Harvey

Oppression on Women in Margaret Atwood s the Handmaid s...
Oppression on Women in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale and Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis
Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, is memoir of a little girl growing in Iran. She refers to a secular pre
revolutionary time through contrast, the oppressive characteristics of the fundamentalist
government upon women in particular. Her work is a lot similar to Margaret Atwoods, A Handmaid
s Tale, in which the protagonist Offred reflects upon her former life s freedom, cherishing her
former name and in doing so emphasizes the cloistered and enslaved life that she must now endure.
Although both Margaret Atwood and Satrapi show how a totalitarian state oppresses women in
different ways by taking away the freedom to think and decide for oneself, both ... Show more

In Haindmaid s Tale, women are divided into a small range of social categories, each one
signified by a specific color dress in a similar style: [...] her usual Martha s dress, which is dull
green, like a surgeon s gown of the time before. The dress is much like mine in shape, long and
concealing, but with a bib apron over it and without the white wings and the veil. She puts on the
veil to go outside, but nobody much cares who sees the face of a Martha. (9)
Martha s are made less by their clothes. When a woman is wearing the green Martha s dress no
one is interested in looking at her as a person. She is just a servant. Martha s dress makes the
woman serviceable not desirable, useful but undesirable.
Pride and dignity is taken away from women in Gilead. They are isolated from their families and
are tortured by their memories. They are handed a dress code depending on the role they play
and are forced to abide by that. After Satrapi designs a new uniform for her school, she says, this
is how I recovered my self esteem and my dignity. For the first time in a long time, I was happy
with myself (298).
Undeniably this dress code in both the books make women no longer an individual but an object
for specific use, stripping them of their identities and giving them no choice.

Racial Disparity In Law Enforcement
Race is used by law enforcement as a determinate of one s potential criminality, therefore
disregarding one s behavior, but rather judging by ethnic or racial appearance. One s race is at
constant discrimination and without reforms to policy, minorities will remain targets for law
enforcement and society around the world and the United States. The reduction of biased law
enforcement will minimize racial profiling within the prison population, as well as at a state and
local level. According to figure one a special estimation was used to identify a racial composition
of drivers and was applied to traffic stop data in ninety two Missouri municipalities. The estimation
was conducted as a navigation to better understand racial disparity in traffic

Popular Toys Effect On Children
Popular toys have an effect on the media. Take for example, Toy Story a popular childrens movie
that featured many toys as protagonist in the story and see how the movie had an effect on the
toys that were being sold. If it was not for the movie, then the Toy Story toys would not have
sold nearly as well as if they were in the movie. According to the article,Social media firestorm
awakens toymakers to an absent Rey, it states,ВЁ Twitter exploded with the hashtag
#WheresReyВЁ.In the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens Rey was the leading character in
the movie. Fans who have watched the movie knew this because they went and watched the
movie. From the trailers it seemed as if Rey was going to be a small character in the movie
where she actually was the hero that went and saved the day. Exampling from the article stated
above, Disney was holding back on the Rey toys to avoid giving away a key plot point to the fans
of the Star Wars movie.

Salt Water On Mars
Space exploration has interested the world for many decades, even centuries. From the time
Galileo first looked up into the stars, to the time of rockets to enter into outer space so much has
changed. Through the countless years of devoted research for life sustaining substances a recent
discovery may have changed our world forever. For years we have wondered if there has been a
water source on another planet. With Marsbeing in a more ideal location than Venus, the second
planet from The Sun due to temperature, scientist have been researching Mars for water precisely.
Images from NASAs Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter also known as the MRO, has shown citing s

previous missions, evidence of water on Mars has been captured thanks to an increase in missions

Stargirl Book Report
Book Report
I chose to read the book called Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli . This is a story about a girl who was
different, ordinary, special you could say, compared to her classmates. She had just moved from
Minnesota to Mica, Arizona. Her fellow classmates thought she was weird and goofy because she
didn t do or looked like them. The students started making up stuff about her and being mean to her
and only two ended up being her only true friends.
The story took setting mostly at the high school. Stargirl was a junior most of the story. There were
other places Stargirl and Leo had gone to like Archie s house, and Stargirls enchanted place. The
story is taken place in the past in almost the whole story. You actually don t know the story is being
told and not telled until around the end of the book.
Leo wanted Stargirl to be normal because people were mean to her and she was weird and goofy.
Stargirl loved him so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the Ocotillo Ball everybody was having so much fun and Stargirl was leading it. Hillari told
her she had to ruin everything and that s when she slapped her. Hillary was expecting a slap
against her cheek but what she felt were lips, Stargirl gently kissed her on the cheek and left and
ever since then they haven t seen her again. After fifteen years a lot has changed. Kevin stayed in
Mica, Arizona as an insurance salesman and I became a set designer. The school has a new club
called the Sunflowers, the marching band has a ukulele, there is a crowd that always cheers if
the other school makes a basket. There is a school where Stargirl s enchanted place was and
Archie s house does not look the same. I think that the story was about a girl who changes her
school in a good way and has no ego, does not hold grudges, and cares for other people. This book
can teach a great lesson and I recomend reading

1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis
The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991
Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired
firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with
the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four
bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had
told negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States,
frustrated by the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage
crisis (Gross, p. 8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of
origin, Vietnam, using the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the
hostages, shooting several of them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom
requests, the Vietnamese men made little headway. After they realized their ransom offers were
not going to be met, they pushed the negotiators to give bulletproof vests in exchange for several
women and children. After successfully delivering one vest, ...(SED Sniper Jeff Boyes) had

Analysis Of Pretty Woman And The Proposal
Filmmakers have been making romantic comedies since the beginning of the art. The genre
includes light hearted scenes with two beautiful main characters showing their idyllic struggle and
journey to finding their love. The genre, most like most movies are not realistic, but it proves
great for escapism from your stressful everyday life. Romantic comedies, also poorly nicknamed
as the chick flick , have almost sturdy societal gender roles representing the two main characters.
One cis male and one cis female are typically shown. Pretty Woman and The Proposalboth show
typical conventions seen in romantic comedies, although The Proposal does a much better job
appealing to a modern feminist audience. The movie appeals to the modern woman by not
conforming to the stereotypical gender roles, not glorifying materialism, and focusing more the two
lead characters and their realistic flaws.
The man typically shows dominance and has a higher working status than the woman. This is
clearly shown in Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts is depicted as a low class
prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy businessman, Richard Gere. Many romcoms made in
the 90s through 2000s depicted this basic misogyny, but in the mid 2000s a romcom was released
that went against the standards of most movies in that genre. The Proposal directed by Anne
Fletcher shows a powerful working woman depicted by Sandra Bullock, who forcibly gave her
secretary an ultimatum to marry her when she was

T. D. Jakes Quote
Don t allow your past or present condition to control you. It s just a process that you re going
through to get you to the next level. T.D. Jakes
This quote sound comparable to something one of my close acquaintances would say because they
don t like to dwell on the past and they don t care about what s going on right now; they only care
about what happens in their future. We all know the famous children s cartoon animator, Walt
Disney (most famous for creating Mickey Mouse). One of his movies had a really good quote
kind of relating to this one, Around here... we don t look backwards for very long. We keep
moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things (Meet the Robinsons) I thought of
this quote because (I love this movie)

A Day Treatment For Psychiatric Patients When charged with building a day treatment for psychiatric patients that includes a population of schizophrenia, bi polar disorder and various types of addictions, you have to come up with a safe environment, detailed activities, and interact with the patients to set meaningful goals. Occupational Therapy is a profession that teaches meaningful, functional, and adaptive life skills. OT services can be beneficial to psychiatric patients because the negative cycle and disease is reversed by incorporating occupation. • 3. Analysis Of Humor In Angel Puss The rest of the episode consists of the cat constantly outsmarting Sambo. With a slight grin on his face, the cat moves the fence a few feet over, tricking Sambo to enter the wrong house. Now in the house, he easily sneaks up behind Sambo. Leaning in, he whispers a faint, Boo. Screeching, Sambo jumps out of his skin and then bolts in the opposite direction. This torture continues for some time and then to the cat s dismay, the two fall into a lake. The paint quickly washes off, exposing the cat. Puzzled, Sambo eventually realises he has been duped. Quickly, he gathers his gun, corners the cat, and shots him five times. With a giant grin on his face Sambo finally feels relief, but alas, the cat turns into nine real ghosts and begins to... Also, he committed a crime against his better judgement, just to get a few bucks which shows his low economic status. Sambo s socioeconomic status and appearance encourage feelings of superiority over the stereotypical poor, unhuman African American. Additionally, his behavior encourages the poor unintelligent African American stereotypeof the 1930s. Many times he can barely function as a human through the episode. Normal behaviors that most humans do with ease, like walking and talking, Sambo struggles with. He takes long strides while methodologically thinking about each step in his head, and then stumbles with most steps. Moreover, his speech skills are not to par with normal language abilities of a boy his age. At the beginning of Angel Puss, his sorrowful song is nearly impossible to understand with his heavy southern accent coupled with poor grammar. Likewise, his speech is slow and riddled with stutters, implying that he did not receive a proper education to speak properly. His inability to do basic human processes dehumanizes Sambo, making him inferior and easy to laugh at. Later in the episode, Sambo is running for his life from what he thinks is a ghost. Wanting to mess with Sambo even more, the cat starts rolling dice in his hands. Sambo hears the dice and begins to slow down and eventually comes to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection On The Root Cellar Since the beginning of September, I have been attending the Root Cellar in Portland Maine. My work has varied time to time, but, mostly includes watching and hanging out with kids from age 5 18. I also helped with projects around the organization and preparing meals for kids. Throughout my time at the root cellar, I have noticed multiple scenarios where concepts we learn in the classroom are evident with my experiences at this organization. The first concept or chapter I am going to focus on is education. They provide multiple services for the students attending to perform well in school and get extra help on homework or any other school work. They provide private tutors for free in which they will help students with specific subjects. Two times specifically stand out to me when thinking about the concept of education. The first was when I was walking by and witnessed an older gentleman helping a student for about an hour with his english homework. Next was when a little boy in the 4th grade came up to me and asked for some help with his math homework. He was learning how to multiply numbers and I taught him the multiplying nines trick on his hands. He was so amazed by this and was very thankful which made my whole experience at The Root Cellar worth it. The second concept I experienced was economic inequality. This is very apparent with people who come into the root cellar as they are seeking assistance. My last time volunteering I noticed this as I was picking up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone has their own perfect imagined place that they want to live in. The truth is, not every utopia is perfect. Many utopias have dangers, bad people, and a lot of the time people don t agree with the utopia. The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Zootopia by Phil Johnson and Jared Bush, The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and The Lottery by Shirley Jackson are great examples of utopias that aren t perfect. Utopias can be very dangerous. For example, in the book The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer many people get injured and even die. The utopia was only perfect for the leader ... They do this because the town s population is way too big. Mrs. Hutchinson drew the ticket with the black dot on it. She even said, It isn t fair, it isn t right. She was very frightened but didn t know what to do. She didn t agree with what was about to happen. The leader Mr. Summers was the only person not to get a ticket because he was the leader. This shows that not everyone agrees with utopias. In conclusion, all of my evidence shows that utopias aren t perfect. As I stated in my introduction, utopias have many bad people, dangers, and not a lot of people agree with a perfect utopia. Sir Thomas More was the first person to create a utopia in 1516. However, it should be noted that not all webhosting companies are able to host the colossal traffic required by eBay. In addition, eBay would preferably choose a webhosting option that is reliable and offers round the clock customer service since people conduct business over eBay round the clock. Next, there is a moderate threat of substitute services. More and more offline companies are tapping on the vast potential of the online market through the creation of their online retail sites. For example, if someone wants to get a Dell computer, he may choose to go to Dell s online store to purchase it. However, the uniqueness of the online auction site is that almost everything under the sun can be listed for sale. In China, Alibaba owned Taobao is already providing intense competition by providing zero listing costs and providing customer service catered to the needs of the local population[2]. Compare and Contrast Ecstatic, anxious, and thrilled are the emotions that run through seemingly every single teenager when the newest smartphone hits the market. Yet, numerous teens run into the same debate every time the top smartphone creators release their new devices. Teens are presented with the dilemma of choosing which phone to buy. In order to decide teens will often rely on peer pressure, whichever phone is released first, or the phone that their parents choose. The iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ are the most recent releases that have imposed distress upon teens trying to choose one phone over the other. However, when contrasting the iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is it undeniable that teens should prefer to buy the Samsung Galaxy S8+ due to the fact that it is the considerably superior device. For teens who rely on their parents to pay for their phones, or work in order to buy their own phones the deciding factor on which phone to buy is the price. According to the Apple.com, the iPhone 7 Plus retails for $969 with a charge port included. It is important to mention that this does not include accessories such as earbuds. Everything else is sold separately. According to Samsung.com, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ retails for $850 with included accessories such as earbuds, USB cord, and a charging port. Although the difference in price may only be about $100 this can make a significant difference. When buying new phone teens, will expectedly want to buy accessories for it. Such as a case, earbuds, screen protector and so on. Taking all these facts into consideration it is obvious that the SGs8+ is the better option. The Samsung accessories retail at lower prices and some of the accessories come included when the phone is purchased. Purchasing the iPhone 7 plus and all the desired accessories surely bring the bill to over $1000 which few parents will want to pay for a phone. The PACU was staffed with experienced intensive care unit (ICU) nurses with different backgrounds and a solid nursing knowledge base. Herodotus On The Customs Of Persians This essays point is to analyze the primary source and review what the document tells us about the Persians and what it might be telling us about the Greeks. The primary source being used is On the Customs of Persians by Herodotus which is written from his view point on the Persians in comparison to the Greeks customs and beliefs. This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the two with evidence found in the primary source to back it up with quotes and explanations to why it s important. The Greeks and Persians while sharing some similarities they are outweighed by the two s differences such as; their image in god, sacrificing rituals, customs, and death rituals. The first difference we see between the two and could also be the biggest, is the Persians not having a set image of god since the Greeks see their gods as in the same nature as man. We can infer this to Persians by this quote: They have no images of god, no temples nor alters, and consider them a sign of folly. Two different viewpoints on the subject exist. Many argue that child labor is morally wrong and that the children should not work, no matter how poverty stricken their family might be. Advocates and major corporations that support child labor argue that it is good because it gives poverty stricken families a source of income. • 16. An Analysis of Sacrifice in Arthur Miller s All My Sons In All My Sons sacrifice plays a crucial role in almost every part of the play. Miller explores the impact of sacrifices made for one s family versus humanity as a whole, explicitly the direction and intention of a sacrifice. As part of this essay, I will identify and explain what I consider to be the most important in the play. The second aspect of sacrificein All My Sonswhich I will examine in this essay involves the idea that not all sacrifices are actually conscious decisions; many of the acts of sacrifice in the play could be explained simply by an escape does Joe Keller kill himself as a final realisation of the crimes that he has committed or just as an escape from the pressure around him? When we first encounter the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the concept of a fine hairline crack could also be grafted onto Keller as a person: he has a serious and life threatening flaw which is only revealed after close inspection. In a sense, throughout the play Miller is also suggesting that just as an individual can thoroughly disrupt a family, so can an individual completely eviscerate a society linking back to the idea of a small crack and its massive outcome. Just as Joe Keller s denials lead to his family being torn apart, so Miller is implying that the same is true on a much larger humanitarian scale. As well as sacrificing morality, it is clear that towards the climax of the play, Joe sacrifices responsibility in order to preserve himself. On page 55 George is having an argument with Chris, Joe Keller s son when he says: And he s the kind of boss to let a hundred and twenty one cylinder heads be repaired and shipped out of his shop without even knowing about it? This questioning towards Keller is interesting because it shows us that George thinks he is responsible and he even comes up with a diligent retort later on the same page which makes Joe seem like a responsible boss; even to the audience: The same Joe Keller who never left his shop without first going round to see that all the lights were out. This seemingly un arguable confirmation that Joe is a responsible person is torn apart when we witness George, in a very accusatory manner, shout at Ann: He simply told your father ... The one thing that I do regret coming into this was not knowing the background and history of the Louvre and a majority of its works. After doing some research, I came across the history and mission of The Musee de Louvreand I was fascinated with what I read: from knowing that The Louvre was originally created as a fortress to finding out how hard the architects and designers worked so hard to make it an accessible place for all. The Louvre was originally created in the early 12th century while Francewas under the 43 year reign of Phillipe Auguste. During this time, a barricade was built to protect Parisfrom the Anglo Norman threat. France reinforced its defense with a fortress, which is today known as The Musee de Louvre. I found it neat that The Louvre was created so long ago and for such a different purpose. Most major places, such as the Palace of Versailles, were created to be a palace for the people to live in, but the Louvre was created for a much greater purpose: to protect the city. I believe that its original purpose has a huge affect on why it is so well known and means so much to the country of France today. In the first few years of the life of The Louvre, a... Magnetic Resonance Imaging The introduction of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the field of cognitive neuroscience had a profound impact on the ability of researchers to localize and record cognitive activity in the human brain. Created by a group led by Ramon Damadian in 1976, this cranial imaging technology finally bridged the gap between the cognitive outputs of behavior and the inner regions of the brainwith profound accuracy (Clark, 2007). Surprisingly, the implications for MRI scans are perhaps most significant in the field of lie detection. As stated by Melissa Littlefield in one of her publications on the subject, MRI technology represents a quantum leap for deception researchers (Littlefield, 2011). The study was one of the first to specifically address the limitations of polygraphs in measuring cognition, as deception is largely a goal orienting process mediated by cortical regions connected to the CNS. The goal of the study was to localize active regions during truth and lie generation and determine if an accurate deception fMRI model could be established from the results. To perform the truth and lie comparisons, the experimenters administered the Guilty Knowledge Task to a group of 26 college students during fMRI scanning sessions. Participants were given a set of cards and instructed to lie about a random card during the testing period. Langleben et al. used four different truth and lie conditions using cognitive subtraction to determine changes in activation patterns. The results from the study were clear. The researchers confirmed their hypotheses that the regions of interest for deception included the inferior lateral prefrontal and medial superior frontal regions. These areas contain intercortical networks responsible for attention, working memory, and response inhibition. Specifically, the prefrontal cortex was determined to be significantly predictive in discerning lies from truths. Langleben et al. suggested that the intensive load placed on working memory during lie emphasized trials indicated that truth generation occurred more anteriorly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a tall bird with a long slender neck and beak, rusty grey feathers, and long legs. They are about 1 1.2 meters, or a little over 3 feet tall. In addition to their ginormous height, for a bird, their wingspan is as equally magnificent; measuring in at roughly 1.8 2 meters, or 5.9 feet! This is quite an impressive wingspan. This is a bird I see year round all over Florida, though the Birds of North America chart shows that they are in Polk County during the winter months. The Sandhill Crane can be found in wetlands or grassy fields near wetland looking for food or even a place to breed. This type of eco system is best for this bird because it is designed to walk around and look for food such as crawfish, worms, snakes, mice, eggs, etc. Obviously, this bird is not meant to be perched up in a tree somewhere; but rather it is seen walking around grasslands instead of flying. Its long legs give it a huge advantage for hunting; essentially, they help the bird be able to stand in shallow water and still be well above the surface of the water to search for prey. However, a Sandhill Cranes diet is only partially meat. In most cases they can be found eating plant material around a wetland, or even some crops from and agricultural field. Sandhill Cranes are mostly active during daylight hours only; unless it is during a migration season, in which some birds will complete their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender Wage Gap Lisda Lara Professor Akpo GOVT 2305 P50 August 4, 2016 Throughout our world s history we have seen many grievous instances where discrimination caused severely negative repercussions on how our society functions. The inequity demonstrated by our nation in the past has estranged its residents based on their religion, the color of their skin, their beliefs, and even their gender. With time, our community has become more accepting which has led to the abolishment of most, if not all, bigotry and racist beliefs. However, there is still an issue today that we have been facing for almost a century. This conflict has led to the prohibition of certain people obtaining a particular job in some cases, and the penalty of being paid less than her male colleagues if she were to obtain that job. The problem is sexism and its consequences. The consequences of this type of discrimination lead to unequal pay for the same kind of work. This claim can be supported as true when Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey is examined more closely. Within this piece, Wordsworth states, These beauteous forms /Through a long absence, have not been to me/As is a landscape to a blind man s eye/But oft, in lonely rooms, and mid the din/Of towns and cities, I have owed to them/In hours of weariness, sensations sweet (Wordsworth 23 27). By personifying nature during this time of economic crisis, Wordsworth is creating an outlet that aids him in moving forward. For example, the Women March of 2017, March on Washington of 1963, Antiwar Protest 2003, and the Tea Party protest of 2009. All these protests impacted America in different ways. • 37. An Overview Of Aging An Overview of Aging and Existing Cultural Differences Society predetermines a specific life course for each person of their community. Missing any stage of this course is detrimental to the development of the human life. But not all societies have these stages of life; ergo different cultures define stages differently. The stages of the life course are childhood, adolescence, adulthood, young adulthood and middle adulthood, old age and death. Society thinks of childhood as the first twelve years of life. In most cultures it is known as the time of autonomy from the weight of the grown up world. But in other societies, such as Taiwan and Indonesia, childhood is seen as another occasion to send someone to work. The children do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their medical treatment system, taxation system, and social security are not set up properly for the aging individuals in Japan (Masud, 1999). Death is something, that if not caused by disease or accident, it occurs during the end of old age. For most cultures such as Canada the average life span is seventy seven years. However, as mentioned above some cultures, such as Zimbabwe, have a life span of only thirty eight years so they experience death at a sooner time than others. В‘Today most cultures have been viewing death more openly, and the trend is to view dying as preferable to painful or prolonged suffering in hospitals or at home (Macionis Gerber, 2002). Therefore these cultures are death accepting which teach us that death is something to be welcomed. Although, there are cultures such as the Hindu culture that are death defying and maintain that death does not exist. Therefore death is viewed differently from culture to culture. Aging is multidimensional construct that is defined differently from one culture to the next. Old age may be viewed as a positive stage of ones life or it may be looked at with a negative connotation. Depending on ones culture, ideas about aging and growing old may be different for men and women. In Canada growing old is not associated with positive images of beautiful women or handsome men. • 38. Two Approaches Of Leadership And Leadership Leaders throughout history have displayed many characteristics and traits which make them who they are, and influence the decisions they make. Whether or not the leader was born with these traits has never been scientifically proven. However, it is within human nature that we learn through trial and experience to improve our mental cognitive ability, and therefore leaders are, until proven otherwise, made not born. Whether a leader is born a leader, or made a leader is not relevant to the end result. What is relevant is if one of the two approaches of leadership produces a better leader. Leaders play a large role in society, and great leaders play a large role in history. Trying to hypothesise whether leaders are born or made is ironic, as by studying that topic, you are effectively helping to make future leaders. Leaders are crucial to the continuing development of the human race. Without leaders, the world would hardly change from when humans first inhabited it. Leaders inspire change, with goals and aims in place to further develop the human race. While not all leaders have the same ideology as others, they are still reaching to enhance the population. Leaders have been present throughout all history, and many have played a large role in how society operates today. Leaders usually show many similar characteristics to each other, and for this reason, many believe that a leader must have these same qualities or traits to be a successful leader. Who would you rather test on, a rat, or a loved one? Medical animal testing is needed to keep moving forward in the medical fields and to keep our society strong. The genetic similarities between humans and the laboratory animals implement positive results. Since we are so genetically similar to chimpanzees and mice there are no other alternative options of testing on living organisms other than humanbeings. Our brains are essentially analogous to the brains of mice and chimpanzees. (Holmes) Humans share 99% of the same DNA as chimps and 98% of the same DNA as mice. Oxford scientists are now working on developing a cure for malaria. All of the vaccines they have created that also helped save millions of lives, were tested on animals. Multiple scientists would like to point out that they do their best to make sure their tests cause the least amount of pain as possible. During transportation from one location to another, Ms. Tweeden fell asleep, Mr. Franken took advantage of her sleeping state and took a picture with his hands placed over her breasts. She was not made aware of the pictures existence until she was back in America for quite some time. According to Tweeden, Franken also forced himself on her while they were rehearsing. Tweeden came forward after discussing her experience with Democrat Representative Jackie Speier, a leading voice in ending sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Sexual misconduct among political leaders in our nation has long been a part of work life on Capitol Hill (Fandos), especially in light of the prior conduct of our President, the conversation surrounding this topic has never been more pressing. After examining the rhetoricused by Al Franken and respective media groups in response to the Tweeden Scandal, it can clearly be observed that the differing motivations of the rhetors drastically shape the rhetoric produced even though the exigence and audiences are the same. Firstly, for rhetoric to be established, there must be something to which rhetors respond. The event must be significant and present (for both the rhetor and audience), so that the response envisioned by the rhetor can occur. The sexual misconduct of Al Franken is both significant and present because it enters into the dialogue surrounding the post Harvey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She refers to a secular pre revolutionary time through contrast, the oppressive characteristics of the fundamentalist government upon women in particular. Her work is a lot similar to Margaret Atwoods, A Handmaid s Tale, in which the protagonist Offred reflects upon her former life s freedom, cherishing her former name and in doing so emphasizes the cloistered and enslaved life that she must now endure. When a woman is wearing the green Martha s dress no one is interested in looking at her as a person. She is just a servant. Martha s dress makes the woman serviceable not desirable, useful but undesirable. Pride and dignity is taken away from women in Gilead. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). • 49. Analysis Of Pretty Woman And The Proposal Filmmakers have been making romantic comedies since the beginning of the art. The genre includes light hearted scenes with two beautiful main characters showing their idyllic struggle and journey to finding their love. The genre, most like most movies are not realistic, but it proves great for escapism from your stressful everyday life. Romantic comedies, also poorly nicknamed as the chick flick , have almost sturdy societal gender roles representing the two main characters. One cis male and one cis female are typically shown. Pretty Woman and The Proposalboth show typical conventions seen in romantic comedies, although The Proposal does a much better job appealing to a modern feminist audience. The movie appeals to the modern woman by not conforming to the stereotypical gender roles, not glorifying materialism, and focusing more the two lead characters and their realistic flaws. The man typically shows dominance and has a higher working status than the woman. This is clearly shown in Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts is depicted as a low class prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy businessman, Richard Gere. Many romcoms made in the 90s through 2000s depicted this basic misogyny, but in the mid 2000s a romcom was released that went against the standards of most movies in that genre.
