Emergence Of Homosexual Identities In Early Modern Europe
Rebelling Against Nature:
Same Sex Relations, Sodomy, and The Emergence of Homosexual Identities in Early Modern
Europe.
Although during the early modern period the term homosexuality may not have existed, the
persecution of homosexuals was a vicious practice which was sweeping across society in Early
Modern Europe. Without a name, homosexuality and homosexual identities were heavily diluted
down to simple definitions which would set the standard for how homosexual identities developed
and how homosexual individuals were treated for many years to come. This essay will discuss the
criminalization of sodomy and the demonization of homosexual individuals in Early Modern
European society. It will also argue that these brutal practices and

Short Story Of Diablo 2
Diablo II s twin suns burned Carlos Nieto s exposed skin as he concentrated on the job before
him. He tried not to gag from the smell of the dead police sniper next to him. Carlos pulled the
bloody sniper rifle from under the dead officer s body and checked the action. He was amused to
see it was a locally manufactured copy of an old Earth .50 cal rifle. From his rooftop position on
the on the apartment building he had a good view of the surrounding area. Hundreds of protesters
advanced towards a line of policeofficers, protecting a government office. Carlos looked over the
other rooftops and didn t see any other police. He took positioned with the rifle barrel on top of the
half wall bordering the roof and took aim. There was surprisingly little recoil as the rifle fired.
Carlos watched as the police officers neck exploded, effectively decapitating the woman as her
helmet fell to the ground with her head still in it. Carlos fired nine more times, while the police
line held their position and opened fire on the protesters. That should be enough for today, Carlos
thought smugly. He walked to the opposite side of the roof and removed a rope from his satchel
then tied it to a pipe before throwing it down the side of the building. He reached into his satchel
and dropped a protest pamphlet next to the rope before taking one last look around the roof then
retreating to the roof exit. Cease fire damn it! Sgt. Kim Mulder shouted into her throat microphone.

Race Theory Of Race And Racism
Theories of race and racism have been used by sociologists to not only describe modern societies
but also address issues of social injustice and achieve an end to racial oppression. Critical race
theory is one of the most widely used for this purpose and provides the structure employed by
Dwanna Robertson in her analysis of racism against Native Americans and the consequences they
have experienced as a result. She uses the term legitimized racism to discuss the racialization of
American Indians. By classifying Indians as evil and less than human, whites felt justified in using
cruelty against them in order to appropriate their land and resources during the settlement of the
Americas. As a result of this, the part Native Americans play is both pivotal and foundational in the
economic and internal socio racial reality of the United States. Their social and economic inequality
is often blamed on a culture of alcoholism, individual laziness, and rural living while the fact that
they are subject to racial oppression is ignored.
Using an Indigenous epistemology and a qualitative approach, the author studied what she termed
the act of legitimized racism. She analyzed its influence and, through interviews, collected
narratives of those who had confronted legitimized racism. These interviews were with forty five
Indigenous people over the age of eighteen from twenty nine distinct tribes between June 2009 and
May 2013. As the participants needed to identify ethnically as

The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney
Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the
slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the
poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even
our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming
couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects
the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience
however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem
a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the
world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our
young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is
destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that
however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This
emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship.
Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem.
For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking
, stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity
that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura
Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and
clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be
able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between
these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take
over the joy of the activity.
The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature.
Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn.

Conflict Management Style With Others
Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it;
personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict.
Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of
your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It
helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal
conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the
middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More
frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and
resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve
A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an
important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path
decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling
content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is
usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict
management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I followed. The style
that I tend to follow is Harmonizing.

Parent Involvement In Preschool
The authors reached that parents need to be involved early on in the child s schooling. This way,
the parent knows what the child is learning and can help the child with problems in academic and
social live at preschool. Head start is one of the main preschools that use parent involvement. Head
Start uses family involvement to be a c cornerstone of their approach, with workshops, family
involvement in classrooms, mandated involvement on committees, and family liaisons designed
specifically to foster involvement. The authors of the article I am doing, did a study on the relation

The types of good involvement are the types that help out the child in school, with homework or
volunteering time with the class. However, when parents are not involved, it is a difficult time for
the child (parent involvement, 79). It was anticipated that adult engagement would be certainly
affiliated to preliteracy development (Parent involvement, 78). There are times when the parents
want to be involved, but do not have the time to be involved when they have long work hours or
cannot help the child due to transportation issues. The school systems are trying to fix this issue, by
having phone conversations with the parents and asking them to help at home with tasks that are
being done at school, and offering volunteering other individuals to help and send notes home to

The Story Of Cinderella
Rewrite a fairy tale from the perspective of one of the minor character in the story.
Once upon a time, there was a little house that lived in the forest not too far from the king s castle.
Hello, my name is Anna one of Cinderella s stepsisters and my other sister is Rose. You must have
heard that in the store of Cinderella that we are the evil stepsisters in the story. Well now I am
going to write a story about how nice we are and that we are not evil. One day Cinderella s father
had passed and my beautiful mother brought her into our house to do some chores around the
house. So, Cinderella got to work on the chores, making dinner for my mother and me and my
sister. We saved some for Cinderella while she was cleaning up she was eating the food that she
made. One day we all got an invention to the prince s ball tomorrow night. So that day we went
out to shop for some ball gown dresses. The night of the prince s ball we all got ready to go meet
the prince so that he can pick out a bride for himself and we all were so excited. The mother told
Cinderella to stay home and finish up the chores for when we get back from the ball. So, I and
mother and Rose left for the ball leaving Cinderella at home to work on the chores. When we all
got to the ball there was a lot of people there for the prince s ball, but I went up to talk with the
prince and maybe dance with him, but all of sudden everyone looked and there was a beautiful
princess walking down to the floor. The prince

Essay on The Power of Money in Campaign Finance
It may seem that with the Buckley decision, soft money and PACs the hope for reform has been
lost, however there is still hope. The Supreme Court upheld the voluntary public financing of
presidential election, which was considered a great step forward because taking public funds
requires the candidate to limit their spending on the federal level. There is also the hard money in
political campaigns, which is strictly regulated by law through the Federal Election Commission.
Hard money is the contrast to soft money meaning that it is the contributions made by a person
or PAC that gives to a federal campaign or political party for the use in federal elections. But of
course with one step forward there is always two steps back. Because of... Show more content on

As a result, all means of legal cheating had been justified.
PACs and overly wealthy individuals are not the only ones dipping their hands in the secretly
jumbled world of campaign finance. Smaller interest groups and lobbyists are also getting their
favors and paychecks. Because election laws are so crammed with exceptions these different
groups can directly and openly support a candidate spending as much money as they would like.
This loophole is referred to as independent expenditures. The Supreme Court cleared the way for
smaller groups to work directly for or against a candidate, so long as the group does not coordinate
its efforts with the candidate it supports. Although these expenditures tend to be a just a bit smaller
then soft money funds, they are far more straightforward and blunt which proves to be even more
effective (Anderson 2000).
In my view, campaign finance has gone from something that could potentially help give the power
of government back to the people to a complete joke. When trying to answer the questions of
campaign finance you get a series of hidden meanings, jumbled definitions and no real answer to
you questions, which is exactly the way Washington and campaign workers like it. The more
bizarre and convoluted the rules are the more money each campaign can make. It seems that only
way to find out any real information is to become a member of the inside, controlling the way
campaigns really operate and change.

Ceruloplasmin
Ceruloplasmin is a serum ferroxidase that carries more than 90 % of copper in plasma and plays
an important role in iron homeostasis as well as antioxidative functions [105]. Ceruloplasmin best
known as copper binding protein, found in the plasma of vertebrate species, and is mainly
synthesized by the liver [106]. After ceruloplasmin was originally isolated from plasma by
Holmberg and Laurell [107], this proteinquickly became the subject of many investigations
concerning its function, molecular structure and the physical properties of the copper ions bound
to it [106, 108 111]. The ceruloplasmin gene was identified on the human 3q25 chromosome with
a molecular weight of ~132 kDa [112]. The molecule is composed of six compact domains, with
large loop insertions, and is characterized by the presence of three types of spectroscopically
distinct copper sites.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ceruloplasmin protein contains more than 90% of copper in the plasma, but rather than strictly
functioning in copper metabolism, its main function appears to be a modulator of iron efflux via
oxidation [106, 108, 109]. Ceruloplasmin has been known to possess ferroxidase activity, the
ability to oxidize ferrous to ferric iron. This activity is required for its function in iron homeostasis
and is thought to reduce oxidative stress by inhibition of the Fenton reaction which uses Fe2+ to
generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) [106, 110]. Ceruloplasmin has also been demonstrated to
function as an acute phase protein activated by the host immune system during stress conditions

Professional Presentation Analysis
One of my personal strength regarding professional presentation is that I like to be very organized
and keep everything plain, simple and straight to the point. I also enjoy having fun while giving
professional presentations. I know that speaking to others need to be short and educational because
some people tend to get impatience and bored. One method to continue improving these methods
are to use short handout and utilize slides with wise content and colorful background. Keeping in
mind that slides should be elaborated and illustrate the main key point of the presentations. In
addition, brainstorming and develop at least 3 4 goals and objective (Sherman, 2012). With these,

The Genre Of Rock N Roll
Elvis Presley, also known as the king of Rock n roll, once said Rock n roll music, if you like it, if
you feel it, you can t help but move to it. That s what happens to me. I can t help it. The genre of
Rock n roll has been a part of the world since the early 1940 s. According to Just a Half a Mile
from the Mississippi Bridge : The Mississippi River Valley Origins of Rock n Roll, this genre
was born in the Mississippi River Valley and moved up and down its course, including its
tributaries (the Cumberland, Tennessee, Illinois, and Missouri rivers), and along the highways
and railroads which paralleled those rivers. This genre of music produced during the recovery of
the second World War, Rock n roll gave rise to one of the greatest impacts on past American
generations, and continues to go forward into my own generation today. James Henke
acknowledges that various cities played large roles in the history of Rock n roll: Memphis in the
1950s, Detroit during the Motown era, London and Liverpool during the British Invasion, San
Francisco during the psychedelic era, New York and London during the punk period, and Seattle
during the grunge era. Without rock music, pop and other genres would not as successful and
popular as they are now. While older generations have a tendency to despise rock music, Elvis
Presley exemplified his generation, and rock music generated an enormous impact on society, and
unified the American society. Rock n roll has numerous

John G. Neihardt s Black Elk
A little background I found on the author, John G. Neihardt, was that when he was little he
moved around in the west a lot. While he was travelling in the west, after meeting his wife, he
ran into Nicholas Black Elk, the Ogalala holy man, and would bring his visions to the world.
The original book was published in 1932, and sold millions all over the world. The idea of the
book was to recognize that not all Native Americans are going to kill you, and that it could
introduce the idea of dreams with perceptive understandings. Standing Bear was in the room where
the writing was taking place as a witness to tell that everything was true. While Neihardt was

He tells stories about how there was a time when the tribe was moving to a new location and it
happened to be in Soliders Town where six bands of Ogalala tribes were there to hunt, and while
they were there the white men had threatened to hurt a little boy who had gone and cut off a part of
their flagpole. While this incident is happening, Red Cloud is trying to make peace with the
white men so they aren t enemies. In the book Black Elk talks says in the book That winter one
of our boys climbed the flagpole and chopped it off near the top. This almost made bad trouble;
soldiers surrounded us with their guns; but Red Cloud, who was living there, stood right in the
middle without a weapon and made speeches to the Wasichus and to us. (Neihardt 48) He talks
about chiefs he saw that day, and which ones he thought were pretty great, such as Crazy Horse
and Red Cloud. He talked about the Ogalala tribe and how they wanted to move places and hunt
buffalo in a different area, and that was why he was in Soldiers Town at the time. Black Elk speaks
of another time when he had a vision while he was away from his camp and he wasn t sure what
to do at the time so he kept doing his thing. He tells of a story he had with his father while they
are out hunting, where he tells him to wait for the animals to come to him and not chase the
deer. He says Then the queer feeling came back, and I said without knowing why I said it: No
father, stay here; for they are bringing them to us. He looked at me hard again, and said; All right
son. So we lay down there in the grass and waited. They did come to us, and my father got two of
them. I found it interesting that he included this story considering that he has visions about animals
and whatnot. Black Elk speaks of a time when he was young and fishing; having what they would

The Ethics Of Plato And Aristotle
In this essay, I will be examining the ethics of Plato and Aristotle. I will explain the five
fundamental concepts of Plato and Aristotle. I will focus on their theories on the good life as a
life of justice, censorship, knowledge and the good life. I will first explain Plato s ethics. Plato was
a philosopher, both a rationalist and absolutist. According to Plato, people must be schooled to
obtain certain kinds of knowledgefor example mathematics, philosophy etc. The training will give
them the ability to know the nature of the good life. Not many people have the mental ability to
learn what the good life is. They have to be exactly like a person who has knowledge. The people
who have knowledge are to be the leaders in the society. Finding the nature of the good life is an
intellectual task, which is similar to discovering mathematical truths. They must develop righteous
habits of behavior.
Plato believes that control is necessary to stop some of the experiences by young people if they are
to discover the nature of the good life. If a person can discover what is right and knows what the
good life is, he or she will not go against the principles. Plato s virtue of wisdom, courage and
temperance are in operation, a supreme virtue is indication in justice. Wisdom is the feature of the
intellect. Courage is the feature of the will. Temperance is the feature of the appetites. There is
one and only one good life for all to lead since goodness is not dependent on

Whether or not we are aware of it, each of us is faced with an abundance of conflict each and
every day. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s boss for a raise, we ve
all learned the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller, Getting to Yes, introduces the
method of principled negotiation, a form of alternative dispute resolutions as opposed to the
common method of positional bargaining. Within the book, four basic elements of principled
negotiation are stressed; separate the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of
positions, invest options for mutual gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Following this

Again, I found these guidelines to be oversimplified and completely void of the fact that human
s are inapt to simply putting their feelings aside. Also, following the suggestions such as using
symbolic gestures, an example being to В‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me
as a pathetic way of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could
see the acts as a way of asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are
the cause, the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it
makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by
the other. The second part of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to
the result needed, while positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to
ideal conflict and negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough,
and where positions can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even
unfavourable. In the case of a В‘victim in conflict, one can usually bargain more than they В‘need
for their damages. In the case of positions and power, an employee not acknowledging a CEO his
/her power would not make a difference in the status of the two individuals and the potential

What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany
Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or
embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their
destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with
the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen
Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories
involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead
closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly
changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen
Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical
realism, it is the best genre to put it in.
The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any
stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While
telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides
the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to
explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see
Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips
presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a
medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps
and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time
also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before
previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but
not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and
several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten
years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic
church

Lincoln And Darwin Analysis
Gopnik s primary message in this essay is what Lincoln and Darwin have in common with us
today. Modern society is based on scientific reasoning and democratic politics.
Darwin was born in a comfortable family home, nicely named Monte, that still stands in the leafy

comfort but to a family that was far from safe with a long history of free thinking and radical
beliefs. Lincoln was born in a hut of nameless, long lost cabin in the Kentucky woods. He was the
second of three, born to a poor farmer, Thomas Lincoln.
They were family men, loved their wives and lived for their children. Darwin was rich but he still

Cost Of Woman
The Cost of Being a Woman The average woman menstruates from around age twelve until about
age fifty (Nelson). This means that for around thirty eight years, between approximately two to
seven days a month, a woman bleeds as her uterus sheds and menstrual blood flows from the
opening in the cervix out of the vagina (Nelson). During those times women are in need of
feminine hygiene products. In the majority of our country women pay sales tax on these necessary
products. In this way women are paying our government for simply being women. These products
are a necessity that women need, just like groceries, which are exempt from sales taxes in the

context inferring that removing the sales tax on items such as men s razors and razor blades
would level the field between sales tax placed on products specifically meant for women or men

tax removed from their razors and razor blades as well, putting men behind in what seems to be
some sort of government taxation game. This game would then cause a slippery slope of
requests for sales tax cuts on any number of male or female specific products. The second issue

The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson
In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer
clearly turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and
position that he started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with
God alone. The transgression that ruined Lucifer was self created pride. I used that lesson from
the bible to say that pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see
a perfect example of that when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has
hurt the people who are closest to him without even realizing it. He has acted in an unsensitive
and heartless way towards his significant other, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his children, Cory
and Lyons. Toward the start of the story, Troy feels he has made them proud. He feels this all
through the story. He doesn t understand the amount he has harmed them. In the first scene of
the play his oldest son Lyons come to ask him for 10 dollars and answers no saying You ain t
gonna find me going and asking nobody for nothing. I done spent too many years without (Troy).
Troy s biggest strength and weakness is that he always looks out for his best interest and doesn t
see anyone else s interest as important as his own.

African Americans During The American Revolution
During the American Revolution, African Americans fought on both sides. Those who fought
were given their freedom and, in some instances, provided with land after the war. African
American slaves who fought for the Loyalists were resettled after the war in places such as Nova
Scotia, Upper and Lower Canada, and England. Those, however, who were on ships that went to
the Caribbean remained slaves until 1834 when slaverywas abolished in the British colonies. African
Americanfreemen and slaves, although the southern colonies resisted the enlistment of black slaves,
who fought for the Patriots where offered freedom and re settlement after the war.
Ideological rationales where offered to garner Patriotic support to openly revolt against British rule
in America. The ideological beliefs where based on the basic rights of man, which the Patriots
believed the British monarchy and government where violating. These rights included that
Americans should have the right to local autonomy, a government by consent, and that all mankind
is born free and equal. That everyone is equal led to the belief that no one had a right to govern
without the consent of those being governed, thus providing justification for the American
Revolution (1765 1783). These arguments persisted, of course, even with the hypocrisy of the
Founding Fathers who claimed all men are created equal even while providing justifications for
racism and enslavement. For example, in Thomas Jefferson s Notes on the State

Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And...
Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924
with a single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global
recognition has afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as
creatively diversify in a manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil
companies as well as what some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such
as Dole Food Company, Inc. created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company
and create a secure future. In addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which
includes Universal Studios and them parks as well as electric companies build an impressive
portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that highly diversified organizations are more successful,
firms whose business units are highly related to each other, such as in a focused company, are
outperformed by those whose business units are moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012,
p.14). Although this argument makes little sense, Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits
of being highly diversified. With the strength of diversification Seagram has created over its long
life offers a firm foundation for future growth and stability. The objective of this current project is
to evaluate the assets and design a plan that will utilize the strengths of the organization while
shoring up new systems to realign Seagram for maximum growth

Examples Of What Does One Voice In A Prayer For Owen Meany
m maSome of the smallest people have the loudest and most powerful voices. John Irving
demonstrates that with Owen and Johnny in his novel A Prayer for Owen Meany. Owen is
exceedingly small with a high pitched voice and he is also extremely powerful, while Johnny is
average and does not speak up. They are different sizes and both have different impacts on
people. Owen is not afraid to speak freely about the thing that he adores or has a strong animosity
for, and his confidence shines through and touches people, while John is the one telling the story,
no one knows how he feels about anything except Owen. He uses his voice to talk about Owen.
John does not impact anyone in anyway besides his father. There are various examples of how one
voice can inspire and motivate others to think and react a certain way that their inspiration directed
them to be. John Irvinguses Owen s voice as a way to show how one s voice can affect others; for
instance, Owen is used to send a message showing that everyone s voice is effective.

Being Vegan Research Paper
Veganism 2nd Essay When people ask me what my favorite food is and I replied, either a burger

standard of how the meat and dairy industry has influenced people s perceptions deeply. One
essential aspect of my life is my lifestyle choice of being vegan, in which I learned more about
myself and where I stand without entering a classroom. By educating myself on the effects of the
meatand dairy industry to the animals, my health, and the environment, I expanded my horizons
beyond the what I see on my plate. Raised in a filipino culture, meat, dairy, and fish are an
significant ingredient in the cuisine. When I was younger, I ve never been exposed to a vegan
lifestyle nor have I heard of the word itself! Rather than exaggerating what I ate, I ate without a
thought. About a year ago, I made the choice to transition into a vegan lifestyle, initially based on
ethics. Since then, I ve learned about the heavy burden the meat and dairy industry has on the
environment, which not only affects me but everyone around the world. But before that transition, I
intuitively had a predisposed idea that animals were being killed for the people s taste buds, yet...

LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a
lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of
$25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the
temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting
flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area
was dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route
back, with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding
due to rain that had fallen on the previous two days. The man who operated a wrecking

The Physical Pain Of The Worst Pain
Up to now, I have only described the physical pain. Which as it turns out was and is not even
close to being the worst pain. The worst pain resides way back in that dark place you do not want
to go, because you know if you allow yourself to crawl there, you may never come back. All along
the way, through this journey through pain, I have always allowed time to beat myself up and
question everything about whom, why and how come I made the choices I have made. I questioned
my manhood. I questioned my dedication. I questioned everything but the truth. I was physically
unable to do it. The mental exhaustion from the physical limitations were impeding my judgement.
Admitting this would mean acknowledging I was not a man. I would be unable to provide for my
family. I was pushing myself closer to that dark spot. I was getting down on myself. I had already
pushed people away with my attitude and misery. As each day passed, and I realized another
person I had hurt or bad decision I made, I became more distant and reclusive. More bitter, more
angry and I could not stop it. What I was failing to realize was I was already on the spiral slide
down the dark abyss to hell. I would go through this never ending cycle. The center of the circle is
pain and circling around it are depression, anger and anxiety. It was a never ending cycle. Always
in one of those dark places.
The pain, as is my leg, is gone. I am not sure how eight years of pain wound up disappearing that
quickly. The hard part

Appeal to Emotions is when an ad is created specifically for drawing on the viewers emotions in
order to get them to make a donation to a specific organization or cause. The first thing you notice
when looking at this advertisement is the sad expression on the childand the tears running down its
face. When most people see the face of a sad child they begin to feel empathy for the child or feel
sadness themselves about the situation this child is in. Because of these feelings of empathy there

Abortion Is The Destruction Of A Fetus
In this essay, I will discuss my position on abortion, how it has changed, and how it compares to
others more established positions. Before I can begin this, however, I must first discuss the terms
that will be used and their definitions. For the purposes of this essay an abortion is the destruction
of a fetusat any point in development. A fetus constitutes a fertilized egg. At the moment the egg
and sperm converge, the product is entitled a fetus. Prior to this course, my opinion on abortion
was firm, but underdeveloped. I had a position that stated abortion to be immoral but acceptable
in some cases. By this, I meant that it was always wrong, but could be understood in some cases,
and thus, somehow, less of a wrongness. I see now the major issues with this argument and will
use this essay to better clarify my position, and I will find myself aligning very closely with the
views of Don Marquis, as portrayed by his article entitled An Argument that Abortion is Wrong. I
will expound upon these views as they are shared by mine, but will also cite portions from
writings by Judith Thomson and Mary Anne Warren. I find that my position was developed by
using terms and ideas from these three authors, but I will also discuss how their writings and
views conflict with mine. My position has been altered by new knowledge, and new incorporation
of different circumstances. Prior to this class, I had an opinion that abortion was wrong, but it was
okay if the mother was raped or if

The Veil is not Mandatory in Islam Essay
Over the years many scholars have argued on the interpretation of the Qur an on the verses that
relate to the hijab (veil). A few debated that is not fard (mandatory) and only Sunnah (choice). The
majority though won and it was decided that the hijab is mandatory in Islam based on verses in the
Qur an and hadeeths said by the prophet and passed on by others. Misinterpretations can be made,
although by the majority at times, and I think they made an incorrect assumption in this matter.
Nowhere in the Qur an is it stated that a woman should cover her hair.
Some may say that the hijab is clearly stated in Surat noor and that there is no question about it.
The verse most people refer to is the one that says: And say to the believing women ... Show more

It is true, men should lower their gaze, but at the same time women should wear reverently and
not reveal parts that attract men and cause fitna. The definition of fitna is to seduce, lure, or
tempt. Most of the time, women are a fitna to men and that is why they should attempt to be
considerate and dress wisely to not be bothered and avoid facing sexual harassment. Wearing
loose clothes is one thing, and covering your hair is another. Some may have beautiful hair but I
suppose that the body is more attractive to a man than just hair is, and that is why the hijab is to
cover yourself and not necessarily your hair, or only if you chose to. It is choice, not obligation.
After choosing the Qur anic verse, I now want to talk about a hadeeth about the veil which if was
accurate would have been very clear and convincing to anyone. It is the one that told us about

Ernest Rohm was a German military officer and founding member of the Nazi party, making him
a close companion and early ally of Adolf Hitler. But, by 1934, Hitler had come to see him as a
potential rival and had him executed during the Night of the Long Knives.
The historical context of Germany in Rohm s rise in power was what thrust him into the position of
high power and authority. In a time of a fractured Germany, the Treaty of Versailles had reduced the
German army to just 100,000 men, which was something that greatly angered all of the German
officials, including Rohm. Therefore, Rohm notoriously fought against the communists who had
taken over Munich in 1919, using brutality in order to eliminate the communists and socialists that
helped, along with others, to destabilize the early years of the Weimar Republic. Born in Munich in
1887, Rohm had a violent relationship with his father which is a direct link to his own violent
nature, and what prompted Rohm s troubled mind to never accept the fact that Germany had lost
World War One. He also believed that the loathed Treaty of Versailles had been imposed on the
Germans by hated and traitorous socialist politicians. Rohm had a possessed hatred for the
democratic republic, and had an extreme flair for politics and natural ability of an organizer. Based
in Munich it was almost inevitable that Rohm would have heard about a young political party that

The Main Changes That the Paramount Decree Effected on the...
Outline the main changes the paramount decree effected on the structure of the American film
industry and discuss the measures the ex studios took to remain in control of the film market.
The period of the 1920 s to 1950 s where known as the studio era in Hollywood. A few major
companies monopolized the industry through vertical integration when the film companies
controlled all production distribution and exhibition. The majors determined which movies were
shown in which theatres, choosing their own over others. The theatres were often palaces, about
spectacle and a night out more than the movie itself. Marcus Loew said , we sell tickets to

They took on more responsibility and had more time to work on the production. since the late
1960s it has been common for directors to average only one feature every year and a half , two
years , whereas at the height of the studio system, a John Ford or George Cukor might regularly
have made two or even three major features a year. There were serious implications for the way in
which directors learned their craft. (pg9 Hillier J , 1992, The New Hollywood). Independent film
production increased the importance of agents in the system. After contracts were dropped,
staff went to agents who brought them together with a script and a director and a package to
studios, for film projects. by the 1960s two thirds of films being made were pre packaged by
agentsВ….Agents continued to grow in importance to such an extent that by the 1980s, Michael
Ovitz, president of CAA, was being the single most influential person in the movie industry ,

decree , there were fewer films to maintain the profitability balance and offset losses, as a result
there was a need for greater profits. Blockbusters became the industries idea of sure fire profit .

Similarities Between Prairie Dogs And Jaguars
In this essay, I will go into detail about two examples of keystone species. First, I will talk about
prairie dogs and then I will talk about jaguars. Both species contribute and add to the life in their
environments both directly and indirectly. Next, I will discuss the consequences if the prairie
dogs and the jaguars left their habitats. Lastly, I will talk about similarities and differences
between the two species. Prairie Dogs live in the western Great Plains region of the United States.
Specifically, they live in grasslands. They live in tunnels with rooms that they use as shelter. Prairie
Dogs aerate and fertilize soil, which in turn gives life to plantspecies native to the Plains. They
also help provide life for animals native to the plains such as wolves, bison, bees, and birds.

The Fashion of Whiskers in Victorian England Essay
Whiskers: A Growing Fashion
Prior to the Victorian era, men in England maintained cleanly shaven faces. With the mid
eighteen hundreds came a widespread shift toward facial hair in a multitude of styles
(Camellia). The ability to grow whiskers began to be regarded as a sign of manhood. In pictures
and photographs from the era, it is rare to find a male, past the age of manhood, depicted without
facial hair in some capacity. As the century continued, the preferred style of facial hair grew
progressively longer, bushier, and more pronounced (Nunn), but it remained stylish for men to wear
facial hair of all sizes and descriptions (Camellia).

This long, combed out style of side whiskers was known as Piccadilly weepers or Dundrearies
(Nunn).
Side whiskers were often, though not always, worn with mustaches, and there were a variety of
mustache styles. Some men chose to wear them long and waxed out straight at the sides, while
others waxed their mustaches so they curled up at the ends (Nunn). Toward the end of the century
the handlebar mustache came into vogue. This style of mustache, which was marked by long,
droopy ends, was not worn with a beard (Camellia).
Beards in the nineteenth century were also worn in several varieties, usually with a mustache.
They could be thick and bushy, affording the most coverage of any style of whisker, or neatly
manicured (Nunn). Beards could be groomed into points, called spade beards, or neatly rounded
into Imperials (Camellia).
Though the facial hair movement of the Victorian era faded with the conclusion of the nineteenth
century, it was a fad that affected nearly all men of the age (Camellia). Facial hair, ranging from
bushy mutton chops to carefully waxed mustaches, defined the appearance of mid to late nineteenth
century men in England, and created a divide between boyhood and manhood.

The New England Fold Belt (NEFB) of eastern Australia is composed of variably deformed
terranes, going in age from Early Palaeozoic to Late Triassic. These different terranes are for the

Civilians Vs California
Farmers vs Civilians Envision yourself, about to complete a straightforward, everyday thing such
as washing the dishes, suddenly to your surprise there is no water coming out of the faucet. Well
for the civilians of East Porterville this is their reality. California has always had very lenient and
ineffective groundwater regulations. Today, this has become a major issue, especially with
California s severe drought. The regulation of the aquifer is a necessity because cleanliness is a
basic human right and by not regulating the groundwater and leaving civilians with no working
water, that right is taken away. The right to bathe, wash your hands, and have a working toilet is
simply no more. Furthermore there are scientific statements, proving that excessively pumping
groundwater will lower the water levels, which will likely lead to the land level sinking as well....

has also had a strain on people s pockets, some dive out of town to take proper showers. When it
first went dry, we used to drive to my daughter s house in Visalia about 45 minutes away to have a
shower, he says. But it was costing a lot of money in gas (Source

Archduke Cruz Ferdinand Research Paper
On June 28, 1914, 50 year old Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, along with
his 46 year old wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, were shot to death at 10:45 a.m while
driving through Franz Joseph street in Sarajevo, the Capital of Bosnia. They were assassinated
by Gavrilo Princip, an 19 year old Serbian nationalist who is part of a conspiracy by a terrorist
group of six assassins called Black Hand hoping to inspire Bosnia to revolt against rule by Austria
Hungary. Two attempts were made on the archduke s life during the day. He was in Bosnia to
direct the manoeuvres of the Austrian Army Corps stationed in the province. At 10:15 a.m, when
the royal couple passed the central police station, 19 year old student Nedeljko Čabrinović
hurled a hand grenade at the Archduke s motorcade. The chauffeur accelerated when he saw the
object flying towards him, but the bomb had a 10 second delay and exploded under the wheel of
the fourth car. Two of the occupants, Eric von Merizzi and Count Alexander von Boos Waldeck,
were seriously wounded. About a dozen spectators were also hit by bomb shrapnel and were taken
to the hospital.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the morning, the Archduke decided to go to the hospital to visit the victims of the
bomb. Princip saw his motorcade passing near the Latin Bridge, and made the split second
decision to fire with his revolver. The first bullet pierced the side of the motorcade and hit Sophie
in the abdomen, the second bullet struck the Archduke in the neck. Both died of their wounds
fifteen minutes later. They were such a lovely couple; I wish I had known about the change of
route, that way I could have gone down Appel Quay road and save their lives said Leopold Loyka,

Outline Of Unresponsiveness
Considering the high mortality in the intensive care unit in hospitals compared to other units as
well as the high costs of inpatient treatment in these units, mortality prediction has long been a
concern [3]. In recognition of these problems, various scoring scales have been proposed and
validated. However, no score has been used as a gold standard and some are difficult to use [4].
The most commonly used scale is Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) [5]. Lately Full Outline of
Unresponsiveness (FOUR) score has been validated and is being used as an alternative to GCS
in evaluation of consciousness in severely brain damaged patients [2]. GCS was introduced in
1974 as a method to objectively determine the severity of brain dysfunction and coma six hours
after the occurrence of head trauma [1]. It takes into consideration of three parameters, eye
opening, verbal response and motor response. It was revised in 1976 with the addition of a sixth
point in motor response subscale for withdrawal from pain stimulus [6]. Although initially devised
for the patients with traumatic brain injury, it has now been validated for most of other primary
neurological disorders like intracerebral hemorrhage [7], subarachnoid hemorrhage [8],
neurodegenerative diseases [9], drowning [10], cardiac arrest [11], ethanol poisoning [12],

characterization of patients and its high level of inter observer reliability [14]. It can be utilized by

The Between Food And Culture
The United States has long been known as a melting pot because most of its people are descended
from immigrants. The immigrants come to USA for a better life so they leave their own country
and decide to call it home. Most of the immigrants live in New York in this city, so we can see the
variation in people and culture. Basically the immigrants leave their country but they don t leave
their culture. They want to maintain their culture and one of the way to maintain their culture is
food. Not only that but also many people want to introduce their culture to other, that s why they
open restaurant. Sometimes people open a restaurant in a diverse area and they cook food
combining the recipe of different countries so the place plays an important role for the people who
are not even from that culture. From that, we can see that food can easily combine any culture
without changing their own culture. When given the task to find a restaurant that has represents the
connection between food and culture a restaurant that comes in my mind was Sagar Restaurant
located in 169 street in Jamaica, Queens. Though Sagor restaurant is a Bangladeshi, Indian style
Chinese restaurant, it represents the interaction between various groups of Asian immigrants
through food and it also reminds Bangladeshi people about their country. The percentage of Asian
raceand Black race in Jamaica are all higher than other races and least percentages of races in
Jamaica is Native Hawaiian and American Indian

The Magic Lantern Was Used In The Early Age Of Animation
There were many devices that were used in the early age of animation. One of them was the
magic lantern. The magic lantern was the first device to be made in the early age of animation.
It was created in the 1600 s by Athanasius Kircher. It projected images onto a wall. The magic
lantern that Athanasius Kircher created was a small box. A hole was cut into a side and a light
source was placed inside the box such as a candle. There was a curved mirror behind the light
source, and in front of the light source was a lens. The mirror reflects the light from the light
source and it goes through the lens and out of the hole in the box. If a glass slide with an image
was placed in front of the hole in the box, the image would reflect onto the wall.

THE GREAT CHILEAN EARTHQUAKE The Chilean earthquake was the earth s biggest

recorded by a seismograph (a device used to find and record vibrations that comes from an

Dreamron currently carries a Straight Protect variant in its portfolio for chemically treated hair.
The brand has also grown by 810% (AC Nielsen) as at YTD Sep 2013. They are also actively
driving their salon agenda with a complete range of salon products.
While currently Pantene is on par with Dove in terms of price points, the brand could be
considered a threat for Sunsilk when taking in to account the localization plans which are rumored
to take place within an indefinite time period. It is expected to drop prices post localization in
order to capture the market (Kotler. et al, 2012).
The benefits offered by the product are not considered distinctive. Whilst consumers recognize the
unique positioning of The product, they associate the concept strengths more with the end benefits
of smooth , silky and shiny hair, over and above the distinctive straight hair message. To drive
stronger distinctiveness for the proposition the product could enhance it s straight hair benefit by

Although during the early modern period the term homosexuality may not have existed, the persecution of homosexuals was a vicious practice which was sweeping across society in Early Modern Europe. Without a name, homosexuality and homosexual identities were heavily diluted down to simple definitions which would set the standard for how homosexual identities developed and how homosexual individuals were treated for many years to come. This essay will discuss the criminalization of sodomy and the demonization of homosexual individuals in Early Modern European society. It will also argue that these brutal practices and ... He tried not to gag from the smell of the dead police sniper next to him. Carlos pulled the bloody sniper rifle from under the dead officer s body and checked the action. He was amused to see it was a locally manufactured copy of an old Earth .50 cal rifle. From his rooftop position on the on the apartment building he had a good view of the surrounding area. Hundreds of protesters advanced towards a line of policeofficers, protecting a government office. Carlos looked over the other rooftops and didn t see any other police. He took positioned with the rifle barrel on top of the half wall bordering the roof and took aim. There was surprisingly little recoil as the rifle fired. Carlos watched as the police officers neck exploded, effectively decapitating the woman as her helmet fell to the ground with her head still in it. Carlos fired nine more times, while the police line held their position and opened fire on the protesters. That should be enough for today, Carlos thought smugly. He walked to the opposite side of the roof and removed a rope from his satchel then tied it to a pipe before throwing it down the side of the building. He reached into his satchel and dropped a protest pamphlet next to the rope before taking one last look around the roof then retreating to the roof exit. Cease fire damn it! Sgt. • 4. Race Theory Of Race And Racism Theories of race and racism have been used by sociologists to not only describe modern societies but also address issues of social injustice and achieve an end to racial oppression. Critical race theory is one of the most widely used for this purpose and provides the structure employed by Dwanna Robertson in her analysis of racism against Native Americans and the consequences they have experienced as a result. She uses the term legitimized racism to discuss the racialization of American Indians. By classifying Indians as evil and less than human, whites felt justified in using cruelty against them in order to appropriate their land and resources during the settlement of the Americas. As a result of this, the part Native Americans play is both pivotal and foundational in the economic and internal socio racial reality of the United States. Their social and economic inequality is often blamed on a culture of alcoholism, individual laziness, and rural living while the fact that they are subject to racial oppression is ignored. Using an Indigenous epistemology and a qualitative approach, the author studied what she termed the act of legitimized racism. She analyzed its influence and, through interviews, collected narratives of those who had confronted legitimized racism. These interviews were with forty five Indigenous people over the age of eighteen from twenty nine distinct tribes between June 2009 and May 2013. As the participants needed to identify ethnically as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship. Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem. For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking , stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take over the joy of the activity. The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature. Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn. ... • 6. Conflict Management Style With Others Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it; personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict. Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). You must have heard that in the store of Cinderella that we are the evil stepsisters in the story. Well now I am going to write a story about how nice we are and that we are not evil. • 9. Essay on The Power of Money in Campaign Finance It may seem that with the Buckley decision, soft money and PACs the hope for reform has been lost, however there is still hope. The Supreme Court upheld the voluntary public financing of presidential election, which was considered a great step forward because taking public funds requires the candidate to limit their spending on the federal level. There is also the hard money in political campaigns, which is strictly regulated by law through the Federal Election Commission. Hard money is the contrast to soft money meaning that it is the contributions made by a person or PAC that gives to a federal campaign or political party for the use in federal elections. But of course with one step forward there is always two steps back. Because of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, all means of legal cheating had been justified. PACs and overly wealthy individuals are not the only ones dipping their hands in the secretly jumbled world of campaign finance. Smaller interest groups and lobbyists are also getting their favors and paychecks. Because election laws are so crammed with exceptions these different groups can directly and openly support a candidate spending as much money as they would like. This loophole is referred to as independent expenditures. The Supreme Court cleared the way for smaller groups to work directly for or against a candidate, so long as the group does not coordinate its efforts with the candidate it supports. Although these expenditures tend to be a just a bit smaller then soft money funds, they are far more straightforward and blunt which proves to be even more effective (Anderson 2000). In my view, campaign finance has gone from something that could potentially help give the power of government back to the people to a complete joke. When trying to answer the questions of campaign finance you get a series of hidden meanings, jumbled definitions and no real answer to you questions, which is exactly the way Washington and campaign workers like it. The more bizarre and convoluted the rules are the more money each campaign can make. It seems that only way to find out any real information is to become a member of the inside, controlling the way campaigns really operate and change. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ceruloplasmin best known as copper binding protein, found in the plasma of vertebrate species, and is mainly synthesized by the liver [106]. After ceruloplasmin was originally isolated from plasma by Holmberg and Laurell [107], this proteinquickly became the subject of many investigations concerning its function, molecular structure and the physical properties of the copper ions bound to it [106, 108 111]. The ceruloplasmin gene was identified on the human 3q25 chromosome with a molecular weight of ~132 kDa [112]. This activity is required for its function in iron homeostasis and is thought to reduce oxidative stress by inhibition of the Fenton reaction which uses Fe2+ to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) [106, 110]. While this incident is happening, Red Cloud is trying to make peace with the white men so they aren t enemies. He talked about the Ogalala tribe and how they wanted to move places and hunt buffalo in a different area, and that was why he was in Soldiers Town at the time. • 15. The Ethics Of Plato And Aristotle In this essay, I will be examining the ethics of Plato and Aristotle. I will explain the five fundamental concepts of Plato and Aristotle. I will focus on their theories on the good life as a life of justice, censorship, knowledge and the good life. I will first explain Plato s ethics. Plato was a philosopher, both a rationalist and absolutist. According to Plato, people must be schooled to obtain certain kinds of knowledgefor example mathematics, philosophy etc. The training will give them the ability to know the nature of the good life. Not many people have the mental ability to learn what the good life is. They have to be exactly like a person who has knowledge. The people who have knowledge are to be the leaders in the society. Finding the nature of the good life is an intellectual task, which is similar to discovering mathematical truths. They must develop righteous habits of behavior. Plato believes that control is necessary to stop some of the experiences by young people if they are to discover the nature of the good life. If a person can discover what is right and knows what the good life is, he or she will not go against the principles. Plato s virtue of wisdom, courage and temperance are in operation, a supreme virtue is indication in justice. Wisdom is the feature of the intellect. Courage is the feature of the will. Temperance is the feature of the appetites. There is one and only one good life for all to lead since goodness is not dependent on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic gestures, an example being to В‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and where positions can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even unfavourable. • 17. What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical realism, it is the best genre to put it in. The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer clearly turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and position that he started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with God alone. The transgression that ruined Lucifer was self created pride. I used that lesson from the bible to say that pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see a perfect example of that when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who are closest to him without even realizing it. He has acted in an unsensitive and heartless way towards his significant other, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his children, Cory and Lyons. Toward the start of the story, Troy feels he has made them proud. He feels this all through the story. He doesn t understand the amount he has harmed them. Those who fought were given their freedom and, in some instances, provided with land after the war. African American slaves who fought for the Loyalists were resettled after the war in places such as Nova Scotia, Upper and Lower Canada, and England. African Americanfreemen and slaves, although the southern colonies resisted the enlistment of black slaves, who fought for the Patriots where offered freedom and re settlement after the war. Ideological rationales where offered to garner Patriotic support to openly revolt against British rule in America. The ideological beliefs where based on the basic rights of man, which the Patriots believed the British monarchy and government where violating. These rights included that Americans should have the right to local autonomy, a government by consent, and that all mankind is born free and equal. That everyone is equal led to the belief that no one had a right to govern without the consent of those being governed, thus providing justification for the American Revolution (1765 1783). These arguments persisted, of course, even with the hypocrisy of the Founding Fathers who claimed all men are created equal even while providing justifications for racism and enslavement. • 26. Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And... Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924 with a single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global recognition has afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as creatively diversify in a manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil companies as well as what some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such as Dole Food Company, Inc. created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company and create a secure future. In addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which includes Universal Studios and them parks as well as electric companies build an impressive portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that highly diversified organizations are more successful, firms whose business units are highly related to each other, such as in a focused company, are outperformed by those whose business units are moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012, p.14). Although this argument makes little sense, Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits of being highly diversified. With the strength of diversification Seagram has created over its long life offers a firm foundation for future growth and stability. The objective of this current project is to evaluate the assets and design a plan that will utilize the strengths of the organization while shoring up new systems to realign Seagram for maximum growth ... This question reflects the social standard of how the meat and dairy industry has influenced people s perceptions deeply. One essential aspect of my life is my lifestyle choice of being vegan, in which I learned more about myself and where I stand without entering a classroom. By educating myself on the effects of the meatand dairy industry to the animals, my health, and the environment, I expanded my horizons beyond the what I see on my plate. • 31. The Physical Pain Of The Worst Pain Up to now, I have only described the physical pain. Which as it turns out was and is not even close to being the worst pain. The worst pain resides way back in that dark place you do not want to go, because you know if you allow yourself to crawl there, you may never come back. All along the way, through this journey through pain, I have always allowed time to beat myself up and question everything about whom, why and how come I made the choices I have made. I questioned my manhood. I questioned my dedication. I questioned everything but the truth. I was physically unable to do it. The mental exhaustion from the physical limitations were impeding my judgement. Admitting this would mean acknowledging I was not a man. I would be unable to provide for my family. I was pushing myself closer to that dark spot. I was getting down on myself. I had already pushed people away with my attitude and misery. As each day passed, and I realized another person I had hurt or bad decision I made, I became more distant and reclusive. More bitter, more angry and I could not stop it. What I was failing to realize was I was already on the spiral slide down the dark abyss to hell. I would go through this never ending cycle. The center of the circle is pain and circling around it are depression, anger and anxiety. It was a never ending cycle. Always in one of those dark places. The pain, as is my leg, is gone. Before I can begin this, however, I must first discuss the terms that will be used and their definitions. For the purposes of this essay an abortion is the destruction of a fetusat any point in development. A fetus constitutes a fertilized egg. At the moment the egg and sperm converge, the product is entitled a fetus. Prior to this course, my opinion on abortion was firm, but underdeveloped. I had a position that stated abortion to be immoral but acceptable in some cases. By this, I meant that it was always wrong, but could be understood in some cases, and thus, somehow, less of a wrongness. I see now the major issues with this argument and will use this essay to better clarify my position, and I will find myself aligning very closely with the views of Don Marquis, as portrayed by his article entitled An Argument that Abortion is Wrong. I will expound upon these views as they are shared by mine, but will also cite portions from writings by Judith Thomson and Mary Anne Warren. I find that my position was developed by using terms and ideas from these three authors, but I will also discuss how their writings and views conflict with mine. Wearing loose clothes is one thing, and covering your hair is another. Some may have beautiful hair but I suppose that the body is more attractive to a man than just hair is, and that is why the hijab is to cover yourself and not necessarily your hair, or only if you chose to. Ernest Rohm was a German military officer and founding member of the Nazi party, making him a close companion and early ally of Adolf Hitler. But, by 1934, Hitler had come to see him as a potential rival and had him executed during the Night of the Long Knives. The historical context of Germany in Rohm s rise in power was what thrust him into the position of high power and authority. In a time of a fractured Germany, the Treaty of Versailles had reduced the German army to just 100,000 men, which was something that greatly angered all of the German officials, including Rohm. Therefore, Rohm notoriously fought against the communists who had taken over Munich in 1919, using brutality in order to eliminate the communists and socialists that helped, along with others, to destabilize the early years of the Weimar Republic. Born in Munich in 1887, Rohm had a violent relationship with his father which is a direct link to his own violent nature, and what prompted Rohm s troubled mind to never accept the fact that Germany had lost World War One. He also believed that the loathed Treaty of Versailles had been imposed on the Germans by hated and traitorous socialist politicians. Toward the end of the century the handlebar mustache came into vogue. This style of mustache, which was marked by long, droopy ends, was not worn with a beard (Camellia). Beards in the nineteenth century were also worn in several varieties, usually with a mustache. They could be thick and bushy, affording the most coverage of any style of whisker, or neatly manicured (Nunn). In recognition of these problems, various scoring scales have been proposed and validated. However, no score has been used as a gold standard and some are difficult to use [4].
