Savanna Geography
Savanna By Corey Carter A savanna is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being
sufficiently widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. It receives less precipitation that tropical
dry forests, but more than deserts; usually has a distinct rainy season. The open canopy allows
sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of
grasses. Savannas have a very warm temperature year round. There are actually two very different
seasons in a savanna; a very long dry season (winter), and a very wet season (summer). In the dry
season only an average of about 4 inches of rain falls. Between December ... Show more content on

The cheetah is the fastest land animal and can run in bursts of 70 miles per hour to catch its prey.
Other animals, like lions and hyenas, hunt in groups and trap the weaker animals away from the
protection of the herd. One reason that so many different kinds of plant eating animals can live on the
savanna is that different species have adapted to eat different plants. This may be a different type of
plant or even plants at different heights. Some animals are built to eat low grass while others, like
giraffes, are designed to eat leaves high up in

Summary Of The Four Spiritual Laws
Summary of Method I chose to research The Four Spiritual Laws the Intellectual method, this method
is a way to help bring the Good News to the un believers. Paul used this method when he spoke to the
people in Athens, when he spoke he was telling them how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We
can and should use the Intellectual method it can help you start a conversation. One way you can start
a conversation with a non believer is by asking have they heard about The Four Spiritual Laws. The
Four Spiritual Laws is a book written in 1952 by William Bill Bright an American evangelist, he also
founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 as ministry for the university students.
The first law is God s Love God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. John 3:16 God so
loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but
have eternal life. God s Plan Jesus said: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly . John 10:10
(NKJV) (www.cru.org 1994 2015) After those two verses the question is asked, Why is it that most
people are not experiencing that abundant life? Because of our sinful ways. Which brings us to the
second law.
The second law is Man is sinful and separated from God. Thus he cannot know and experience God s
love and plan for his life. Romans 3:23. All of us sin and our sin has

Causes of the Wall Street Crash Essay
Causes of the Wall Street Crash
On 24 October 1929, some shareholders began to lose confidence and believing that the prices of
shares could not continue to rise forever, decided to sell. A panic began, and so many shares were sold
on that day that it became known as Black Thursday. The Wall Street Crash was under way. By
Tuesday 29 October so many shares were being sold that the teleprinters could not keep up, share
prices continued to fall, and people lost vast sums of money and were ruined.
Causes of the Wall Street Crash
The reasons that led to the Wall Street Crash can be put into two main categories:
* Those to do with the overproduction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Too many people thought that share prices could only go up, which encouraged them to invest more
than they could afford in the stock market.
* Banks did not have enough money in reserve to help businesses that were in trouble. This was
because they had lent too much money but now the banks were facing difficulties because people
could not afford to repay their loans.
Exam tip
Try to group reasons together and, where possible, show how one event led to another. If you can
show this technique in your exam it will get you higher marks.
Outcomes of the Crash
The Wall Street Crash brought the Roaring Twenties to an end and led to a Depression in America.
What effect did this have on American society?
Here are some examples of how times changed after the Wall Street Crash.
1. President Hoover and the belief in prosperity
2. The growth of shanty towns
3. Food shortages
4. Farming
5. Franklin Roosevelt a new President

The Battle Of The Allied Powers During World War II
At a time when the Allied powers had very little success in World War II, the idea of an amphibious
landing was explored thoroughly and determined to be the only way to get a foothold into Hitler s
empire. The invasion was a bloody 3 day encounter on 5 beaches that resulted in an enormous
exchange between Hitler and the Allies. Because of this, it gave a rise to the power to the Allies in
Europe when D day was victorious. From 1941 1944 the Allies goal was to defeat Germany first. For
many months, the Allies were trying to plan a massive invasion of Northwest Europe. The initial plan
was to trap Germany from both the east and west sides with the help of the Soviet Union which would
make it easier for the Allies to close in on Hitler. Hitler believed that the Allies were planning an
attack somewhere along the coast of France so he fortified Northwest Europe. The Allies, however,
would have the upper hand because Hitler had no idea where and when the Allies would strike. The
Allies would spend countless hours planning to make this invasion one to remember. Firstly,
exploration of Northwest Europe was essential to find the absolute perfect location for the attack.
Finding this would be very time consuming and there were many aspects that needed to be accounted
for when looking for the right spot to plan the invasion. Many undercover men went to Northwest
Europe and scoped out numerous beaches, landing sites, and cities to determine what location would
be the spot for the

Effectiveness of Public Service Announcements
Introduction
Celebrity endorsements are one of the most famous methods of marketing used today. Celebrity
endorsers are being used in about 25% of all the advertisements that we can see on the television.
Marketers are investing large sums of money to have a contract with the celebrities as they believe
that celebrities can affect the chances of success of a product. (Erica Weintraub Austina*, 2008)

Petty and Cacioppo (1981) have developed the elaboration likelihood model of persuasion which
explains the peripheral route to persuasion and the central route. In the peripheral route, persuasive
influences are more tangential to the issues at hand. For egg in a PSA targeted against smoking in
youth, the peripheral route will show the teenagers having a better sex life after quitting smoking.
(William G. Shadel, January 2009) Central processing occurs when the person at hand is aware about
the main message of the PSA and is motivated to consider its content. We will analyze the use of
celebrities for both these routes of persuasion and try to find out the effectiveness in each case.
A PSA is usually not presented to the audience at the time of action. A PSA is supposed to make the
audience think and act on the message later. Thus human memory plays a very important role in the
success of a PSA. (Shen, Monahan, Rhodes, Roskos Ewoldsen, 2009) If the audience is attracted by a
PSA, likes it but is not able to recollect it later the whole exercise ends in futility. Many researchers
have found that for the message to be effective, retained and used highly credible sources of delivering
the message have to be used and these sources of delivery should be able to create a personal connect
with the audience. (Joseph B. Walther1, 2010)In this context if we are using a public celebrity; he has
his own personality and a public image. We will try to

The Benefits Of Therapeutic Cloning
For years and years clones have been viewed as a negative thing. But what if cloning could save a
persons life, cure them from their illnesses would it still be a bad thing? If cloning could change a
person s life for the better and cure them of illnesses isn t that an admirable thing? The cloning of cells
could cure so many people from illnesses that would takes years to cure. Cloning should be practiced
to improve the lives and health of human beings. With advanced medical research and experiments
cloning for medical treatment can be successfully accomplished. According to an article published by
the National Human Genome Research institute gene cloning is a carefully regulated technique that is

fact that people are taking other extreme measures to have healthy children. Cloning could mean
giving loving people a son or daughter or saving a life. Even though cloning has some risks the
benefits out way them because the stem cells that are naturally being produced anyway is what is
being used for medical treatment. It s more important that cloning is able to take place so that research

Mazzini s Ideas and Inspiration and Attitudes to Change in Italy in 1830s
Introduction
Guisseppe Mazzini was born in piedmont in Genoa; was a son of a doctor and a professor. He was a
depressive and physically frail.
In the revolutions of 1820 he became a nationalist.
He tried two occupational directions, Medicine but became bored and kept fainting as well as Law that
didn t interest him.
In 1827 he amalgamated (joined) the Carbonari but was disappointed. In 1830 he took part in the
revolts and was arrested then sent to France. In 1831 he formed young Italy when he was 26 years old

To achieve this he would use Newspaper plots and assassinations.
The secret greeting was what is the time? A time for struggle.
In 1823 he inspired and animated a revolt that failed.
German Italian and polish refugees in Switzerland were supposed to fight a second revolt. He gambled
away the revolution Money and in 1837 he was in London and wrote 10,000 letters and 100 articles
that were signed Emily. Mazzini migrated towards the Roman republic; he continued writing until his
death in 1872.
Philosophy: Mazzini believed in the people, he was against the influence of Austria and France; was
against all the old leaders. Thought Christianity was a worn out religion, and God should be shown
through the people, also he wanted a democratic republic.
Problems: His writings were too intellectual and idealistic for many people, but saying this he was a
very famed and successful publisher of ideas. He wrote thousands of letters and endless articles that he
smuggled into Italy, these appeared in his societies newspapers and elsewhere. According to the
Historian Dennis mack smith, Mazzini succeeded in defining the goal and arousing enthusiasm among
practiced soldiers and statesmen . He is therefore important, not so much for what he did as much for
what he did, but for the way he inspired many young radicals in this period. He gave their Liberalism

The Growth Of Technological Equipment
Individuals around the world love the concept of innovating and creating a better world for
generations to come. Throughout history, the way of life for individuals drastically improved due to
transformative individuals. The standard of living of the people of the United States doubled in the
first half of the twentieth century... The outstanding cause... is the growth of technological equipment
(Ogburn 386). Businesses were and still are allowed to grow economically as a result of the increased
productivity mainly from the rapidly growing development in technology. Technology allows
individuals to achieve results in a shorter time period but more importantly, the internet grants the
power to share the information and to connect with others about one s efforts. Because of this, it also
expands the boundless knowledge of the possible billions of people. However, to use the given
knowledge requires an extra step and some may not know which direction to take the steps in. The
current lifestyle of many individuals requires many to figure out and use information for him or her
self, which may discourage individuals from using technology. Although some individuals do not
enjoy the idea and use of technology, the internet has positive effects on society which include: the
internet increases info availability, serves as an entertainment resource, creates jobs, allows the

The Death Of Snow
Lying in a disturbed patch of snow, curled up against a nearby tree as the twisted wreckage of a car sat
smoldering nearby is a slim wolf, in his early twenties. He sat motionless, the heavy flakes of snow
falling around him being the only source of motion, before a series of coughs disturbed the scene. He
squirmed to rest on all fours, retching in the snow, whatever food he had in his stomach now mixed
with the snow and ice on the ground. After the fit passed, he leaned back against the tree with a few
light coughs, wiping his muzzle with the torn sleeve of his sweater, a few flecks of vomit catching on
the fabric.
The caustic taste of bile in his throat, the young wolf let a groan escape his lips, his body riddled with
aches. Holding onto the tree for support, he rose on unsteady legs, swaying heavily. Taking a few
small steps , he recovered his composure bit by bit, as he stumbled to the nearby wreckage of a car, it

How Did The Collapse Of The World Trade Center Towers
Collapse of the World Trade Center towers was a dramatic and sudden incident that shocked the entire
world, (Koening, 2001). Nearly everyone was shocked at the complete destruction of such a massive
building. A widespread speculation continues to grow among the public as what actually caused the
collapse. Surrounding the speculations are beliefs, such as poor structural design, which fire
suppression equipment failed to work, and steels of columns melted. This essay attempts to quantify
the collapse. There exists an ethical issue regarding how the World Trade Towers building was put up.
In their line of professional duty, Engineers are supposed to uphold the paramount safety, welfare and
health of the public about their work. With a critical review to the collapse of the building, it presents
the use of illusion of validity. Vividly, general investigation conclusion that the World of Trade Towers

redundant structure, for example, was to ensure that if two columns collapse, then the load would shift
to the adjacent ones. These proved not to be the case when the planes hit the building. While experts
hold different views to what would have caused the collapse, they are both using System One analysis
method, which is based on the intuition from the human reasoning and fear of the repercussions. On
the other hand, System Two forms judgment based on critical examination of evidence (Dyson, 2011).

Impact Of The Great San Francisco Earthquake
Great San Francisco Earthquake
On April 18, 1906, at 5:12 am over 400 thousand lives were forever changed, due to the San Francisco
Earthquake. The 7.7 7.9 magnitude earthquake only lasted for a minute, however, the impact was
incredible. The earthquake ignited several fires that spread throughout San Francisco and lasted for
three days.
Tectonic plates make up the outermost shell of the Earth and have been moving in relation to each
other for hundreds of millions of years. Two tectonic plates, North American Plate and Pacific Plate,
meet in Western California. The boundary between these plates is a zone of faults. One of these faults
is called the San Andreas fault, which is a transform plate boundary. This means the motion between
the two relative plates is mainly horizontal. At 5:12 am, the Pacific Plate slid horizontally north west
in relation to the North American Plate, causing the earthquake along the San Andreas fault and
associated faults.1 Contemporary geologists were amazed and bewildered with the size of the
horizontal tectonic movements and the large rupture length (477km).2
The San Francisco Earthquake had a highly significant impact on the surrounding environment. The
overwhelming total death count for the earthquake and fires is estimated to be 3 thousand people. In
addition, the earthquake left 250 thousand residents homeless and destroyed 28 thousand building.3
The tremors of the earthquake destroyed San Francisco s water mains, resulting in the

Haiti s Healthcare System Essays
The story of Haiti s healthcare system is unfortunately tied all too closely to disaster, both man made
and nature born. This paper will briefly discuss the pre 2010 earthquake healthcare environment in
Haiti as the uncertainty that exists provides little opportunity to provide a reasoned understanding of
its current national healthcare status. As the most basic indicator of health, the life expectancy from
birth in Haiti based on estimates by the World Health Organization is reported to be approximately
fifty five (55) years (although there are a variety of competing numbers provided by other sources).
The infant mortality rate is approximately eight percent (8%) and the less than 5 years old mortality
rate is over eleven percent (11.7%) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In health care spending, Haiti ranks last in the western hemisphere, spending only US$83 per capita
annually on health care. An even more striking figure is that there are only 25 physicians and 11
nurses per 100,000 population, although that number has been increasing recently due to an influx of
Cuban trained Haitian doctors (MEDICC). Even in the capital city of Port au Prince medical care is
limited with doctors and hospitals often requiring immediate cash payment for health services.
Compounding this lack of care, Haitians also lack clean drinking water and proper sanitation systems.
Less than half the population has access to clean drinking water, a rate that is only surpassed by civil
war torn African nations. Even worse, half the population of Haiti can be categorized as food insecure,
and this malnutrition has created a generation where half of all Haitian children are undersized (IFRC,
2010). In addition, this poor sanitation and hygiene, coupled with inadequate nutrition, have
contributed to exceptionally high levels of individuals with chronic, yet often at best ill treated,
conditions. Obviously, the extreme lack of quality health care services creates many opportunities for
a much deeper review of the current health care system and its overwhelming limitations. Hopefully

Reflection Paper On Gym
The Dreaded Gym Class I don t really enjoy exercise, the sweating, being out of breath etc. Therefore,
I would never guess that a high school gym class would influence how I would be spending the rest of
my life. Well, it never changed my opinion on exercise, but it did help me discover a passion for
education and how people should be treated. I always assumed that I would be a vet, healing animals
and having customers come from far and wide. However, around the age of twelve, I realized you
have to be willing to put animals down in order to do that job. Shortly, I decided that I need to rethink
my career choice. The gym is unwelcoming as ever despite the school colors being flaunted on every
surface in the large room. A cold draft of air blows through as the smooth wooden doors swing open,
letting out the odor of the hard work that the basketball team put in that morning. Two of the four
walls are lined with yellow ish bleachers which doe eyed students fill. As I walk, my head hangs low
enough I can see my reflection on the floor mocking my shyness. Now I m truly noticing the assembly
of other students, each one looks as nervous as the next. This class is not the classic gym class. No

However, even if it is clear that Shakespeare was not the patriarchal bard, The Taming of The Shrew is

comedic side of Shakespeare where irony and puns carry the play throughout. Also, as a comedy, this

Chain Store Case Study
Four elements must exist to prove there is a valid contract between the chain store and Sam Stevens.
These four elements include the agreement, consideration, contractual capacity and legal object. The
first element of the agreement would be deemed to exist if one person makes an offer and the other
party accepts that offer. In this case, Sam did verbally agreed to send the 1,000 units to the chain store;
that element does count toward a contract. The second element of the consideration would be deemed
to exist if each party gets something in exchange for their promise under a contract. If Sam and the
chain store agreed to what he would get in return for his 1,000 units, this element would be valid.
However, this was not mentioned by either side, so the contract would not be valid. ... Show more

A person who is considered to have a mental or physical defect cannot enter into a legally binding
contract. Age is also a contract limitation. This means that someone under the age of 18 is considered
a minor and, therefore, cannot enter into a contract unless it is voidable. However, only the minor can
void the contract, not the adult who entered into the contract. When a minor shows intent to rescind a
contract by either words or action, the whole contract is voided. If a person is emancipated, they have
legal control of themselves and can enter into a contract. In this case, Sam is of age to sign a contract
agreement with the store; this is a valid element. The fourth element of the legal object will be deemed

However, Sam was doing this illegally because he did not have the required license to conduct

Annotated Bibliography Of Borderlands
Julia Glandt October 24, 2017 Borderlands FYS Annotated Bibliography They had no life; they were
not allowed to have a life. They were isolated from not only the white race but also their own people.
Mr. Michael Reed was one of those slave owners that treated his slaves that they were nothing more
than a piece of property. In his files, Mr. Reed had a ledger of daily activities. This ledger contained
hourly and daily record of everything his slaves would do. In some of his recordings, Mr. Reed would
write down very strange things for what activity his slaves were doing. He would make mention when
they were sick, of course so he could know how many hours they worked; but many of his recording
were not appropriate for him to be writing. He acted almost as if a lion stalking its prey before it killed
them, minus the killing. If his slaves went to the restroom, he would repeatedly write that or the word
nothing if he felt that they were not contributing to work on the plantations. By Reed doing this to his
slaves, he isolated them to not allow for them to have any outside contact. He silenced his slaves from
feeling like humans. Being trapped in this isolation dehumanized the slaves by treating them as more
of a research project/business rather than actual people, even though they were never thought of as
people at the time. The treatment these individuals reported ran the gamut from the most harsh,
impersonal, and exploitative to work and living conditions and environments

agency analysis will briefly describe the agency at the national level, but will primarily focus on the
agency I intern at by taking a look specifically at the role of psychology services.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is a law enforcement agency serving under the United States
Department of Justice. In 1891, Congress passed the Three Prisons Act, which authorized the
establishment of the first three Federal Penitentiaries Atlanta, GA; Leavenworth, KS, and McNeil
Island WA (Bureau of Prisons, 2015). The first penitentiaries denoted their prisoners as religions
penitents who were serving time for their sins. In 1930, the assistant Attorney General hired Sanford
Bates to organize and establish what is known today as the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP, 2015).
Unlike its three penitentiary predecessors, the BOP began breaking away from punishment to creating
a culture of change and reformation. In 1934, Congress established the Federal Prison Industries to
provide training and paid work for the inmates (BOP, 2015). In the early fifties, they revised ... Show

They are also dedicated to providing work and other self improvement opportunities to assist inmates
in becoming pro social, law abiding citizens. The Bureau has three core values: correctional
excellence, respect, and integrity. Its commitment to correctional excellence can be seen in many
different areas, including the level of security inmates are placed in. Inmates are placed in different
security levels based on their classification level related to the inmate s individual needs. The Bureau
has also undergone upgrades in technology such as whole body imaging devices designed to detect

A Meteor will Strike the Earth and Destroy All Life Forms
With millions and millions of meteors hurtling around in our solar system, there s always a chance that
one could hit Earth at any moment. But what would be the consequences and how would the Earth be
affected if one does happen to hit? If an object from space hit the sea, a huge tidal wave would be
formed, hundreds of meters high, which would leave most of the world under water for a period of
time, destroying and killing everything in it s way. This would have a catastrophic effect on the Earth,
as most people would be killed, and leaving countries powerless, unable to do anything. Crops would
also be destroyed, starvation would kill all of the survivors, homes would ... Show more content on

Scientists have never proven this to be 100 % true, but it is one of the beliefs on how the dinosaurs
became extinct. Both scientists and paleontologists, feel that a meteor must of hit Earth, a few million
years ago, killing the dinosaurs. The meteor that might of wiped out the dinosaurs also could have
brought about the ice age, because of the huge dust cloud that was thrown into the air.
Also, even though this meteor strike never hit Earth, the world watched in awe as thousands of
meteors hit the planet Jupiter two years ago. For about one week, many meteors collided into Jupiter
causing huge craters on it s surface. If the meteors hit the Earth instead of Jupiter the world might
have been destroyed. Almost every American has to know of the crater in Arizona. About
49,000 years ago, a 150 foot meteor hit into the present day state of Arizona. This is the biggest crater
in the United States.
Throughout time, there have been many meteors that have hit
Earth causing great damage, but the scary thing is that there are still trillions and trillions of meteors
right outside our planet. In the Milky Way, the Earth is one of the planets with the greatest chance of
getting hit by a meteor. The Earth is only one planet away from the Asteroid Belt, which is located
between Mars and Jupiter. At any moment, a meteor could break free and head straight towards Earth.
With millions of meteors located in this belt there is

Sex, Lies, And Conversation Deborah Tannen
In the essay Sex, Lies, and Conversation Deborah Tannen focuses on the differences and lack of
communication between men and women though observations. She came to the conclusion that men
were not lacking in their listening, but they were however listening in a different way than the women
did. On the other hand, men aren t the only people that have terrible communication skills. In many
ways, these differences between the two genders can cause major conflict when not understood by the
opposite side. A few examples of lack of communication may be when women don t decide where
they would like to eat, men who walk away from an argument rather than talking it out, and their
decision making processes. The stereotypical mask that covers the female gender is that when asked
where they would like to eat, they reply with, I don t care, wherever you d like to go. Instead of
bluntly telling their significant other an actual response. The indirect message often can lead to
frustration and/or annoyance for the other person. This response can mean a number of things. For
one, the woman may not want to come off as too picky or even they are giving lean way for what you
might be interested in, too. However, when suggesting where he might want to go, the woman often
says she doesn t want to go there simply because she is shortening the options without bluntly saying
where they want to go. Woman often want the men to think that they care where they would like to go
also just so they

Disneyland Research Paper
It was a sunny Christmas morning I had just woken up to the sounds of my brothers and sisters
making a ruckus in the family room, so I got up out of bed and I was attacked by the screams from the
living room. My siblings were extremely excited that it was Christmas morning and that they were
finally able to open their presents that have been sitting under the Christmas tree since the beginning
of the month. It was about 9:30 am by the time my parents woke up and we were aloud to open our
presents. I got clothes which is fine because it saved me one trip to the mall. My sisters also got some
clothes and my little brother got mountains of Legos. After we opened presents my cousins showed up
and we all went out for brunch at Denny s. After our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was wearing the new clothes that my girlfriend got me for Christmas and they fit great. They were
really comfortable and really nice clothes. We got on a few rides =, not a lot because the lines were
super long. However, we enjoyed our time at Disneyland. We also got some really cool Disney hats.
She got a white hat with Stitch in the middle and I got a Monsters Inc. hat. After Disneyland we went
back to her house to pick up her little sister because we were on babysitting duty for the night while
her parents had some alone time. We didn t mind they had left us with more than enough money for
the night so we went out to eat at Taco Bell and then we went bowling with her sister. We also picked
up my sisters because they are around the same age and also wanted to get out of the house for a little
bit. We all went to Lucky Strike and spent about two hours bowling. My girlfriend is a horrible bowler
but she doesn t mind as long as she s having fun she doesn t care what we are doing. After bowling I

Theories Of Personality
The subject of personality is one that is extremely complex and dynamic. Personality has been defined
as the ingrained pattern of behavior, thoughts, and feelings consistent across situations and time. It
consists of a mixture of characteristics and qualities that form an individual s distinctive character. The
configuration of an individual s personality is quite unique because trying to uncover what prompts us
or inspires us to accumulate the different behaviors and thought processes has yet to be discovered
over the past centuries of time. Personality is something an individual can examine in another and
determine if they have any similar qualities or traits in common and from there conclusions can be
drawn that exhibits compatibility or incompatibility to the given circumstance, situation, or person.
Nevertheless, the question that still remains is what determines a personality and enables an individual
to have the character and qualities that they may have? Many theories of personality have been
formulated in an attempt to give a valid, reliable, and thorough explanation concerning the influences
on a personality and the variety of personalities that are known. All of these theories that will be
mentioned all hold pertinent information worth stating and hold interesting views and approaches,
however, some may be out dated, yet useful and others may have been accepted and later rejected due
to new discoveries. Among all the theories regarding personality, four

Essay About Jiao Zi
When people talk about Chinese food culture, I have to mention the traditional Chinese food Jiao Zi.
After Zhang Zhongjing create cold dispelling dumpling soup , it passed to Mongolia in Song Dynasty
(960 1279) and became as festival food named Bian Shi. With the conquest of the Mongolia Empire,
Bian Shi gradually introduced to East and North Asia, eat dumplings during festivals customs
gradually for a number of ethnic identity. In Yuan Dynasty (1271 1368) Bian Shi once again returned
to China, after Qing Dynasty (1644 1912), Bian Shi collectively known as Jiao Zi and has been spread
to today.
Why dumplings called Jiao Zi? In ancient times, people divided one day into twelve periods to record
time, the beginning of one day was called Zi Shi , which is 11 pm. to 1 am. In New Year s Eve, Zi Shi
is not just a time period for the alternately of the old day and the new day, it is the ... Show more

dumplings been placed nice and beautiful, he was very happy. At the same time, the rich man s family
in the same village was also making dumplings, with meats and eggs in it, but because the family eat
all kinds of costly foods every day, so they didn t care about dumplings, placed them in a mess; when
they eat their dumplings, the dumpling stuffing is totally different, all of the dumpling stuffing
changed into vegetables, and the poor family s dumpling stuffing changed into meats and eggs. The

Roman Social Classes
Introduction
During the days of the early Roman Republic (509 264 B.C.), two social classes existed in Rome, the
Patricians and the Plebeians (Breaugh, 2013, p.76; Encyclopedia Britannica, 2015). Composed of the
aristocratic families of Rome, the Patricians wielded the political power in Rome secondary to their
dominance of the political system (during the early days of the Roman Republic only members of the
Patrician class could hold public office) and their vast wealth. (Breaugh, 2013, p.76; Lewis, 2011,
p.57; Morey, 1901).
But who were the Plebeians and why were they so important that on the numerous occasions they
threatened to leave Rome, the Patricians had to begrudgingly make concessions to appease them
(Morey, 1901)? In my learning journal entry for this unit, I will explain who the Plebeians were and
why they were so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, the Patricians, though they served as the government officials, contributed little to the
economy and defense of Rome as they viewed those jobs as beneath them socially (Wasson, 2014).
Hence, the functioning of the economy depended entirely on the Plebeian class. Without them trade
and commerce would have ground to a halt. Subsequently, as the Roman army was composed heavily
of members of the Plebeian class, had the Plebeians permanently abandoned the city, it would have
left Rome at the mercy of her neighbors and left her defenseless during times of invasion (Morey,
1901).
Being the military force and the economic backbone of the city, empowered the Plebeians and
provided them the leeway to force political concessions from the Patricians as the Patricians knew that
without the Plebeians, there was no Rome (Breaugh, 2013, p.78; Lewis, 2011, p.57 59; Morey,

Redwood Trees
Laws are implemented for the betterment of the community. However, a law was put back in play
when eight redwood trees were planted in the backyard of Ms. Carolynn Bissett and Mr. Richard
Treanor overshadowing solar panels of their neighbor, Mr. Mark Vargas, who installed the panels on
year 2001. This generated a conflict between the two neighbors. Resulting to Mr. Mark Vargas filing a
dispute against Ms. Carolynn Bissett and Mr Richard Treanor. The California Solar Shade Act of 1978
was used against the couple. The law provides protection to solar panel system owners from shading
trees and shrubs on their property. The law also prevents a property owner from allowing trees or
shrubs to shade an existing solar panel installed on a neighboring ... Show more content on

Vargas used the law to get rid of the trees that he did not like and to keep his solar panels for his own
benefit. To which the law was not used for the betterment of the whole community but to only make
one person happy. In a way that he intently installed the power panels without consulting his neighbor
about it and knowing that the trees will cast a shadow over it. In addition, his willingness to cut more
trees the next year is a sign that he just wanted to get rid of all the trees for good. How can we allow a
law to cut down trees that is much beneficial for everyone than a solar panel? People always say that
cutting trees is not good for our environment, for it somehow controls temperature of our
surroundings, clean the polluted air and most of all prevents climate change. In the end, they know
that the court only favored Vargas because of the law, but without it Mr. Treanor would win the fight
against Mr.

Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column
The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal
reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression.
At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become
popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural
characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete
prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the
tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame
compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression
behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled
tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross
section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to
triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other hand, the axial load and
deformation behavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width
to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete.

Case Study on Engstrom
Discussion: 14746 Re: Case Memo #1: Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant Issues: Though the Scanlon plan
was effective when it was implemented, there are now several potential issues existing in Engstrom.
The employees are no longer seeing the benefits of the incentive plan that originally showed them
bounty. They do not trust the system of bonuses, or the methods by which they are calculated, and by
extension are beginning to distrust management entirely. They are starting to observe a lack of fairness
in payment, valuing relative over concrete compensation. Ultimately, employees as a whole are
beginning to be more individually minded as opposed to having a group mentality. This is the main
cause of Engstrom s problems. The Scanlon plan is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Savanna Geography Savanna By Corey Carter A savanna is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being sufficiently widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. It receives less precipitation that tropical dry forests, but more than deserts; usually has a distinct rainy season. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of grasses. Savannas have a very warm temperature year round. There are actually two very different seasons in a savanna; a very long dry season (winter), and a very wet season (summer). In the dry season only an average of about 4 inches of rain falls. Other animals, like lions and hyenas, hunt in groups and trap the weaker animals away from the protection of the herd. One reason that so many different kinds of plant eating animals can live on the savanna is that different species have adapted to eat different plants. This may be a different type of plant or even plants at different heights. Some animals are built to eat low grass while others, like giraffes, are designed to eat leaves high up in ... • 3. Summary Of The Four Spiritual Laws Summary of Method I chose to research The Four Spiritual Laws the Intellectual method, this method is a way to help bring the Good News to the un believers. Paul used this method when he spoke to the people in Athens, when he spoke he was telling them how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We can and should use the Intellectual method it can help you start a conversation. One way you can start a conversation with a non believer is by asking have they heard about The Four Spiritual Laws. The Four Spiritual Laws is a book written in 1952 by William Bill Bright an American evangelist, he also founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 as ministry for the university students. The first law is God s Love God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. God s Plan Jesus said: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly . John 10:10 (NKJV) (www.cru.org 1994 2015) After those two verses the question is asked, Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life? Because of our sinful ways. Which brings us to the second law. The second law is Man is sinful and separated from God. Thus he cannot know and experience God s love and plan for his life. Romans 3:23. All of us sin and our sin has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Causes of the Wall Street Crash Essay Causes of the Wall Street Crash On 24 October 1929, some shareholders began to lose confidence and believing that the prices of shares could not continue to rise forever, decided to sell. A panic began, and so many shares were sold on that day that it became known as Black Thursday. The Wall Street Crash was under way. By Tuesday 29 October so many shares were being sold that the teleprinters could not keep up, share prices continued to fall, and people lost vast sums of money and were ruined. • 6. The Battle Of The Allied Powers During World War II At a time when the Allied powers had very little success in World War II, the idea of an amphibious landing was explored thoroughly and determined to be the only way to get a foothold into Hitler s empire. The invasion was a bloody 3 day encounter on 5 beaches that resulted in an enormous exchange between Hitler and the Allies. Because of this, it gave a rise to the power to the Allies in Europe when D day was victorious. From 1941 1944 the Allies goal was to defeat Germany first. For many months, the Allies were trying to plan a massive invasion of Northwest Europe. The initial plan was to trap Germany from both the east and west sides with the help of the Soviet Union which would make it easier for the Allies to close in on Hitler. Hitler believed that the Allies were planning an attack somewhere along the coast of France so he fortified Northwest Europe. The Allies, however, would have the upper hand because Hitler had no idea where and when the Allies would strike. The Allies would spend countless hours planning to make this invasion one to remember. Firstly, exploration of Northwest Europe was essential to find the absolute perfect location for the attack. Finding this would be very time consuming and there were many aspects that needed to be accounted for when looking for the right spot to plan the invasion. Many undercover men went to Northwest Europe and scoped out numerous beaches, landing sites, and cities to determine what location would be the spot for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Petty and Cacioppo (1981) have developed the elaboration likelihood model of persuasion which explains the peripheral route to persuasion and the central route. In the peripheral route, persuasive influences are more tangential to the issues at hand. We will analyze the use of celebrities for both these routes of persuasion and try to find out the effectiveness in each case. A PSA is usually not presented to the audience at the time of action. A PSA is supposed to make the audience think and act on the message later. Thus human memory plays a very important role in the success of a PSA. (Shen, Monahan, Rhodes, Roskos Ewoldsen, 2009) If the audience is attracted by a PSA, likes it but is not able to recollect it later the whole exercise ends in futility. He squirmed to rest on all fours, retching in the snow, whatever food he had in his stomach now mixed with the snow and ice on the ground. • 19. Impact Of The Great San Francisco Earthquake Great San Francisco Earthquake On April 18, 1906, at 5:12 am over 400 thousand lives were forever changed, due to the San Francisco Earthquake. The 7.7 7.9 magnitude earthquake only lasted for a minute, however, the impact was incredible. The earthquake ignited several fires that spread throughout San Francisco and lasted for three days. Tectonic plates make up the outermost shell of the Earth and have been moving in relation to each other for hundreds of millions of years. Two tectonic plates, North American Plate and Pacific Plate, meet in Western California. The boundary between these plates is a zone of faults. One of these faults is called the San Andreas fault, which is a transform plate boundary. This means the motion between the two relative plates is mainly horizontal. At 5:12 am, the Pacific Plate slid horizontally north west in relation to the North American Plate, causing the earthquake along the San Andreas fault and associated faults.1 Contemporary geologists were amazed and bewildered with the size of the horizontal tectonic movements and the large rupture length (477km).2 The San Francisco Earthquake had a highly significant impact on the surrounding environment. The overwhelming total death count for the earthquake and fires is estimated to be 3 thousand people. In addition, the earthquake left 250 thousand residents homeless and destroyed 28 thousand building.3 The tremors of the earthquake destroyed San Francisco s water mains, resulting in the ... As the most basic indicator of health, the life expectancy from birth in Haiti based on estimates by the World Health Organization is reported to be approximately fifty five (55) years (although there are a variety of competing numbers provided by other sources). In health care spending, Haiti ranks last in the western hemisphere, spending only US$83 per capita annually on health care. An even more striking figure is that there are only 25 physicians and 11 nurses per 100,000 population, although that number has been increasing recently due to an influx of Cuban trained Haitian doctors (MEDICC). Even in the capital city of Port au Prince medical care is limited with doctors and hospitals often requiring immediate cash payment for health services. Compounding this lack of care, Haitians also lack clean drinking water and proper sanitation systems. Less than half the population has access to clean drinking water, a rate that is only surpassed by civil war torn African nations. Even worse, half the population of Haiti can be categorized as food insecure, and this malnutrition has created a generation where half of all Haitian children are undersized (IFRC, 2010). In addition, this poor sanitation and hygiene, coupled with inadequate nutrition, have contributed to exceptionally high levels of individuals with chronic, yet often at best ill treated, conditions. Obviously, the extreme lack of quality health care services creates many opportunities for a much deeper review of the current health care system and its overwhelming limitations. Hopefully ... Still, The Taming of The Shrew is an important piece of work which brings out the comedic side of Shakespeare where irony and puns carry the play throughout. Also, as a comedy, this play truly brings us laughter receiving a great value as a comedy The Roaring Girl written by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton is another Renaissance comedy about women and marriage. • 24. Chain Store Case Study Four elements must exist to prove there is a valid contract between the chain store and Sam Stevens. These four elements include the agreement, consideration, contractual capacity and legal object. The first element of the agreement would be deemed to exist if one person makes an offer and the other party accepts that offer. In this case, Sam did verbally agreed to send the 1,000 units to the chain store; that element does count toward a contract. The second element of the consideration would be deemed to exist if each party gets something in exchange for their promise under a contract. If Sam and the chain store agreed to what he would get in return for his 1,000 units, this element would be valid. However, this was not mentioned by either side, so the contract would not be valid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person who is considered to have a mental or physical defect cannot enter into a legally binding contract. Age is also a contract limitation. This means that someone under the age of 18 is considered a minor and, therefore, cannot enter into a contract unless it is voidable. However, only the minor can void the contract, not the adult who entered into the contract. When a minor shows intent to rescind a contract by either words or action, the whole contract is voided. If a person is emancipated, they have legal control of themselves and can enter into a contract. In this case, Sam is of age to sign a contract agreement with the store; this is a valid element. The fourth element of the legal object will be deemed to exist if the object of an agreement is valid. Sam agreed to ship 1,000 units of his barking device. They were isolated from not only the white race but also their own people. Mr. Michael Reed was one of those slave owners that treated his slaves that they were nothing more than a piece of property. In his files, Mr. Reed had a ledger of daily activities. This ledger contained hourly and daily record of everything his slaves would do. In some of his recordings, Mr. Reed would write down very strange things for what activity his slaves were doing. He would make mention when they were sick, of course so he could know how many hours they worked; but many of his recording were not appropriate for him to be writing. He acted almost as if a lion stalking its prey before it killed them, minus the killing. If his slaves went to the restroom, he would repeatedly write that or the word nothing if he felt that they were not contributing to work on the plantations. By Reed doing this to his slaves, he isolated them to not allow for them to have any outside contact. He silenced his slaves from feeling like humans. Being trapped in this isolation dehumanized the slaves by treating them as more of a research project/business rather than actual people, even though they were never thought of as people at the time. The treatment these individuals reported ran the gamut from the most harsh, impersonal, and exploitative to work and living conditions and environments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Prison Agency Analysis Paper The Bureau has over 39,000 employees and multiple prisons throughout the United States. This agency analysis will briefly describe the agency at the national level, but will primarily focus on the agency I intern at by taking a look specifically at the role of psychology services. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is a law enforcement agency serving under the United States Department of Justice. In 1891, Congress passed the Three Prisons Act, which authorized the establishment of the first three Federal Penitentiaries Atlanta, GA; Leavenworth, KS, and McNeil Island WA (Bureau of Prisons, 2015). The first penitentiaries denoted their prisoners as religions penitents who were serving time for their sins. In 1930, the assistant Attorney General hired Sanford Bates to organize and establish what is known today as the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP, 2015). Unlike its three penitentiary predecessors, the BOP began breaking away from punishment to creating a culture of change and reformation. In 1934, Congress established the Federal Prison Industries to provide training and paid work for the inmates (BOP, 2015). In the early fifties, they revised ... A Meteor will Strike the Earth and Destroy All Life Forms With millions and millions of meteors hurtling around in our solar system, there s always a chance that one could hit Earth at any moment. But what would be the consequences and how would the Earth be affected if one does happen to hit? If an object from space hit the sea, a huge tidal wave would be formed, hundreds of meters high, which would leave most of the world under water for a period of time, destroying and killing everything in it s way. This would have a catastrophic effect on the Earth, as most people would be killed, and leaving countries powerless, unable to do anything. The meteor that might of wiped out the dinosaurs also could have brought about the ice age, because of the huge dust cloud that was thrown into the air. Also, even though this meteor strike never hit Earth, the world watched in awe as thousands of meteors hit the planet Jupiter two years ago. For about one week, many meteors collided into Jupiter causing huge craters on it s surface. If the meteors hit the Earth instead of Jupiter the world might have been destroyed. Almost every American has to know of the crater in Arizona. About 49,000 years ago, a 150 foot meteor hit into the present day state of Arizona. This is the biggest crater in the United States. • 28. Sex, Lies, And Conversation Deborah Tannen In the essay Sex, Lies, and Conversation Deborah Tannen focuses on the differences and lack of communication between men and women though observations. She came to the conclusion that men were not lacking in their listening, but they were however listening in a different way than the women did. On the other hand, men aren t the only people that have terrible communication skills. In many ways, these differences between the two genders can cause major conflict when not understood by the opposite side. A few examples of lack of communication may be when women don t decide where they would like to eat, men who walk away from an argument rather than talking it out, and their decision making processes. The stereotypical mask that covers the female gender is that when asked where they would like to eat, they reply with, I don t care, wherever you d like to go. Instead of bluntly telling their significant other an actual response. The indirect message often can lead to frustration and/or annoyance for the other person. This response can mean a number of things. For one, the woman may not want to come off as too picky or even they are giving lean way for what you might be interested in, too. However, when suggesting where he might want to go, the woman often says she doesn t want to go there simply because she is shortening the options without bluntly saying where they want to go. • 30. Theories Of Personality The subject of personality is one that is extremely complex and dynamic. Personality has been defined as the ingrained pattern of behavior, thoughts, and feelings consistent across situations and time. It consists of a mixture of characteristics and qualities that form an individual s distinctive character. The configuration of an individual s personality is quite unique because trying to uncover what prompts us or inspires us to accumulate the different behaviors and thought processes has yet to be discovered over the past centuries of time. Personality is something an individual can examine in another and determine if they have any similar qualities or traits in common and from there conclusions can be drawn that exhibits compatibility or incompatibility to the given circumstance, situation, or person. Nevertheless, the question that still remains is what determines a personality and enables an individual to have the character and qualities that they may have? Many theories of personality have been formulated in an attempt to give a valid, reliable, and thorough explanation concerning the influences on a personality and the variety of personalities that are known. All of these theories that will be mentioned all hold pertinent information worth stating and hold interesting views and approaches, however, some may be out dated, yet useful and others may have been accepted and later rejected due to new discoveries. Roman Social Classes Introduction During the days of the early Roman Republic (509 264 B.C.), two social classes existed in Rome, the Patricians and the Plebeians (Breaugh, 2013, p.76; Encyclopedia Britannica, 2015). Composed of the aristocratic families of Rome, the Patricians wielded the political power in Rome secondary to their dominance of the political system (during the early days of the Roman Republic only members of the Patrician class could hold public office) and their vast wealth. (Breaugh, 2013, p.76; Lewis, 2011, p.57; Morey, 1901). But who were the Plebeians and why were they so important that on the numerous occasions they threatened to leave Rome, the Patricians had to begrudgingly make concessions to appease them (Morey, 1901)? In my opinion, the Patricians, though they served as the government officials, contributed little to the economy and defense of Rome as they viewed those jobs as beneath them socially (Wasson, 2014). Hence, the functioning of the economy depended entirely on the Plebeian class. Without them trade and commerce would have ground to a halt. Subsequently, as the Roman army was composed heavily of members of the Plebeian class, had the Plebeians permanently abandoned the city, it would have left Rome at the mercy of her neighbors and left her defenseless during times of invasion (Morey, 1901). Being the military force and the economic backbone of the city, empowered the Plebeians and provided them the leeway to force political concessions from the Patricians as the Patricians knew that without the Plebeians, there was no Rome (Breaugh, 2013, p.78; Lewis, 2011, p.57 59; Morey, ... Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other hand, the axial load and deformation behavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete. 1.3 Significance of research ...
