Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local...
Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural
mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like
them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the
human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of
understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that
is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John
Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply
because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood).
There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies.
Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even
among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to
experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They
were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans
have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances,
which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was
able to demonstrate that having

Observation On A Restaurant
On October 15, 2017 at approximately 10 AM, I woke up to go to Freddie s Restaurant to start my
observations. It was a nice morning, about 50 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. I hopped into
my Chevy truck to head to the restaurant. There were cars zipping around the town because church
had just gotten let out, and families were going to get food somewhere.
Through my personal experiences, I know that Freddie s is a popular place to go on a Sunday. The
owner s daughter, Stephanie Cannon, is my middle brother s girlfriend (also my broker), and she
worked at the restaurant on its busiest days. She explained to me that many families enjoy gathering at
Freddie s for a traditional breakfast after their church service is finished. She also noted that Freddie s
offers some of the best food for a great price. On certain Sundays, there is a breakfast buffet that is
extremely popular, and there s a wide variety of food offered at those buffets. I also know the owners,
Mark and Sue Cannon, very well because they are obviously Stephanie s parents. Our families have
been very close ever since I was a little kid, and we ve eaten at Freddie s many times. During the
summer when my brother and Steph are home, we eat there occasionally. It s nice because we don t
even have to pay.
I had to pick up my brother, Derek, and Steph from her house because they wanted to go to breakfast
while I observed. We arrived at the restaurant, and there were a lot of cars parked outside the
restaurant.

Effective Negotiation Conflict Resolution
Tamaris Purvines
Assignment Three

Assignment Three
Part One There are several different processes, ideas, and efforts that go into the overall practices of
effective negotiation and conflict resolution. Yet no productive negotiation could be possible without
the valuable use of skills. Two types of skills can help a successful negotiator. The first type is hard
skills, which are guidelines, strategic measures, or anything that can be copied down onto paper and
taught. The second type is soft skills, which are the skills acquired through practicing negotiation that
can t necessarily be taught. To get a better idea of the definition and examples of each type of skill, it
is better to discuss them each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the process problems arise that are situation specific. Knowing when one party is bluffing
or trying to trick the other party are skills that come with learning through experience. The delivery of
statements and ideas are definitely situation specific. Discussing an issue with a church group may not
be the same type of discussion that may be necessary with a theater group. Individuals respond
differently to how phrases are stated. Only through working with similar groups does a negotiator
learn how best to phrase their ideas to parties in any given situation. Learning how to best reframe a
harsh or inappropriate statement into the truth of the statement is also a soft skill that is highly
beneficial to negotiators. The only way to learn how to accomplish this difficult skill is by practicing
it. It takes years of practicing and using this skill in negotiation processes to truly learn how to
effectively hone it.
Being able to determine the best possible solution to the problem for both parties involved in a
negotiation is also something that cannot be learned. Each negotiation is going to be different and
have different circumstances. Even after years of working with groups in negotiation or mediation
situations, it is still difficult to help both sides create a mutually beneficial solution to their problem.
This is something that almost comes as a talent to negotiators. It takes a certain gift

Nutrition Informative Speech
Nutrition
Nutrition is a very vital part of our everyday lives. Nutrition is how our body functions properly, or let
alone functions at all. Nutrition is based off of many different things. The six most vital fat nutrients
include carbohydrates, which can be grouped in either simple or complex, protein, fat, vitamins,
minerals, and water. All of these are essential for your body in more than one way, but for today I am
just going to talk about how much sugar and calories are in the drinks and candy we consume every
day.

Comparing Marvell’s To His Coy Mistress and Herrick’s To...
Comparing Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make
Much of Time
Ever since the beginning of time, love has played an enormous role among humans. Everyone feels a
need to love and to be loved. Some attempt to fill this yearning with activities and possessions that
will not satisfy with activities in which they should not participate and possessions they should not
own. In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress, the speaker encounters an emotion some
would call love but fits better under the designation of lust for a woman. In contrast, the speaker of
Robert Herrick s poem, To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time, urges virgins to marry, to make a
lasting commitment in which love plays a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the lustful lover of Marvell s poem also bases his love on physical beauty, the speaker in
Herrick s poem neither condones nor condemns this societal standard, but simply acknowledges its
existence. Because he realizes beauty plays a huge role in society s standards for marriage, he urges
the virgins he addresses to go marry (14). He explains that they may for ever tarry if they do not marry
when youth and blood are warmer and they are in their prime (16,10,15). After all, who wants to
marry some gnarly old woman?
The speaker in Herrick s poem makes a reasonable request, urging virgins to marry. On the contrary,
the infatuated boyfriend in Marvell s poem makes an unreasonable request, even for today. In essence,
the speaker of Marvell s poem asks his girlfriend to lie with him. Even if God deemed fornication an
acceptable practice, the speaker shows no true love for his girlfriend. The Bible explains, Love is
patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act
unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered
(1 Corinthians 13:4 5). The speaker shows absolutely no patience and looks out only for himself,
clearly indicating he has no love, as 1 Corinthians describes it. Jesus

Plato s the assistant of Socrates, enhanced love (eros) on Socrates s ideas and philosophies. This is

Essay On The Boston Marathon Bombing
The Boston Marathon bombing terrorist attack that took place a short distance from the finish line of
the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. A pair of homemade bombs detonated in the crowd watching
the race, killing 3 people and injuring more than 260 (Boston Marathon Bombing). Many people were
hurt, physically or mentally, by this attack. Because of this the bombing lead to the all out lockdown
and manhunt in the boston area. The act of terrorism committed by the Tsarnaev brothers will forever
be remembered by everyone there. Including the semi famous Carlos Arredondo, otherwise known as
The Man in a Cowboy Hat.
The day of April 15, 2013 will forever be remembered as a day of sorrow and cruelty in the eyes of
americans. On that day two pressure cooker bombs were put in backpacks that were placed on the
ground among the crowd of people watching the boston marathon, and exploded within seconds of
eachother. The bombs killed three people and injured more than 260. Accordingly, this wasn t going to
just be brushed off of america s shoulder. So, the FBI and over 1,000 different law enforcements set
out to find whoever did this. Three whole days later, on April 18th, they finally were able to home in

The Relationship Between School Choice And Segregation
School choice is a hot topic at the moment in the politics throughout Texas. Many seem to be against
it, but see the benefits in the choice. Through this paper I research what the relationship between
school choice and segregation is. Through this paper I will explore the isolation of the English
language learning students and the challenges they face because of it. The location of schools and that
reflects in their students, policies of the schools, and of the programs that they offer.
Literature Review
Charter schools enroll larger proportions of minority and low‐income students and smaller proportions
of White students than traditional district public schools statewide: African American students make
up 33% of the students in Texas open‐enrollment charter schools compared to 14% in Texas public
schools, overall. Hispanic students make up 48% of the students enrolled in open‐enrollment charter
schools, compared to the state average of 46%. Open‐enrollment charter schools have a higher
percentage of economically disadvantaged students (70%) than the state average (56%), a lower
percentage of students classified as limited‐English proficient (14%) than the state average (16%), and
a lower percentage of students served in special education (10%) than the state average (11%). o
Campus charter schools serve predominantly Hispanic and low‐income student populations.

Essay about J.D. Salinger s Development of Holden Caulfield
Many authors put their own life as inspiration towards their works and characters. J.D. Salinger s
character development of Holden Caulfield has been affected by Salinger s complications in his school
life, devastating past relationships, and overwhelming traumatic events during his pre The Catcher in
the Rye adulthood. J.D. Salinger s school life had many significant events that are shown through
Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye. In the novel, the 17 year old Holden Caulfield leaves
Pencey Prep. In chapter one, Holden states ...I d just got back from New York with the fencing team. I

When Salinger attended McBurney School, he tried to conform so he can fit (one way was calling
himself Jerry). While at this school, he also acted in plays and wrote the school s newspaper. This is
shown through Holden as he doesn t try to conform (which could be representing Salinger s regret to
try and conform), hates phoniness (as acting as a character [for example: in a play] is considered being
phony), and likes writing (as shown in the beginning of chapter one as he tells the audience his story
and how he admires his writer brother, D.B.). Salinger himself stated, My boyhood was very much the
same as that of the boy in the book, and it was a great relief telling people about it (interview by
Shirlie Blaney). Salinger s many failed relationships in his lives, from his parents to love interests, are
hinted throughout Holden s life and his character. Salinger s father was from a Jewish descent while
his mother was from a Catholic descent; however Salinger didn t know about this until his bar
mitzvah. Salinger had problematic issues with his father like how his father basically disapproved of
his son in general (for example: participation in plays). It was even described that J.D. skipped his
father s funeral and later stopped eating meat (stated by www.nndb.com). Salinger s relationship with
his parents were broken because of the trust broken by his mother and the

The Personality Theories Of Sigmund Freud ( 1856-1939 )...
Examined are the key elements in the personality theories of Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) and Carl
Jung (1875 1961). Prior to Freud, personality psychology did not exist. Freud s psychoanalytic theory
conceptualized personality development in terms of psychosexual stages whereby personality was
fixed by middle childhood. Freud explained that mental and physical illnesses were the result of an
individual not being aware of the inner conflict which was experienced due to repressed infantile
sexuality (Friedman Schustack, 2012). Jung, as part of the neo analytic movement, meaning new
analysis, was the first to deviate from Freud calling his theory of personality analytic psychology.
Central to Jung s belief was that people s sexual urges were no more important than their goals and
motivations and that personality development was lifelong (Friedman Schustack, 2012). His
perspective was more social and optimistic than Freud s perspective. Within the many similarities in
their personality theories, exposed in some detail are their many differences in terms of motivation,
the id versus the ego, consciousness, dream interpretation, and complexes. By Jung challenging Freud
on his conceptualization of personality, doors were opened enabling fresh approaches to emerge and
thrive.

Integrating Change Models and the Theology of Leadership...
Integrating Change Models and the Theology of Leadership A sentiment common to almost any
organization is that the one fact that remains constant is change. As society changes, and human
understanding grows, any organization that maintains a static posture, assures its demise. Churches
and Christian organizations are no exception. The gospel may remain the same, but the method for
communicating it must speak to the audience to assure understanding. The Christian leader must be
prepared to meet this challenge by incorporating an effective model for change into his theology of
leadership in order to keep the ministry relevant and effective. Searching for such a change agent can
prove to be challenging as well. To aid in this search, four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Breakthrough Innovation Framework, or BrinnovationTM, incorporates Kotter s Leading Change
model, while emphasizing a framework of innovation (Gupta, 2011). The Brinnovation framework
accentuates the abilities and talents of those in the system, with its success depending on a change in
the organization s culture to embrace innovation (Gupta, 2011). The leadership can achieve a
transformation in organizational thinking by applying Kotter s eight step plan, focusing on creativity
(Gupta, 2011).
The General Systems Theory (GST) came about as an effort to describe the systems approach, born
from the biological concept of the organism developed in the first part of the 20th century (Von
Bertalanffy, 1972). In contrast to the mechanistic systems which are closed and have a direct
relationship between a cause and its effect, a biological or social system is open, operating on a
principle of equifinality, where regardless of the starting point, the objective can be achieved (Kast
Rosenzweig, 1972). Any system will achieve equilibrium, but an open system can reach a steady state
by accessing resources from outside itself (Kast Rosenzweig, 1972). The underlying assumptions of
GST rely on the organization of a company resembling the inner workings of an organism. However,
subgroups within organizations can act independently of the the whole, in

Effective Leadership Principals
It is important to enlist teachers as potential leaders to support ongoing improvement of teacher
performance and student learning outcomes. The demands placed on principals today would be almost
impossible to meet if it was kept as an autonomous, top down, non collaborative position. Principals,
now more than ever, are expected to be visionaries, resource directors, instructional leaders, and
building managers (Danielson, 2007). In every building, there are teachers whose vision and expertise
drives them to seek opportunities for leadership, coaching, curriculum development, and school
improvement outside the classroom. When we deny them the opportunity to expand their horizons, we
build apathy, cynicism and an air of complacency. Teaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

solves to possible dilemmas. The third grade position will also be possible this year because the

Jimmy Valentine Analysis
If a person cannot change their morals, then no one can change. Jimmy Valentine was a burglar that
had just gotten out of jail for cracking safes. Jimmy was a good guy at heart but made some bad
decisions. Jimmy moved to Elmore where he opened a shoe store, and met Annabel his fiance. Jimmy
Valentine was trying to live a moral life because he was honest, compassionate, and responsible.
First, Jimmy Valentine was trying to live a moral life by showing his honesty. Jimmy showed his
honesty by agreeing to go with Ben Spencer after he cracked open the safe. Jimmy knew that Ben had
been watching him, and instead of running after he cracked the safe he went to Ben as if he was going
to take him back to jail. Although, Ben gave him another chance to live a moral life, the fact he went

him. Jimmy stuffed it into his vest pocket, threw off his coat and pulled up his shirt sleeves. With that
act Ralph D. Spencer passed away and Jimmy Valentine took his place (Henry). It was Jimmy s
responsibility to open the safe to save Agatha. Jimmy had to try his best to open the safe because he
was the only one there that knew how to open it. Another reason Jimmy showed his responsibility was
by planning to move west with Annabel and keep her safe. Jimmy knew it was his responsibility to

of immediate investigation once they have received a report of abuse. If the investigation brings forth
serious issues, it is reported to a care and protection co ordinator who then urgently calls a family

Total Equality Analysis
The Societal Problems of Total Equality
I m the Greatest man you ll never know (2081). Harrison Bergeron was indeed the greatest character
never known in his society. 2081 and Harrison Bergeron tell of the futuristic society who citizens that
excel in normal activities are handicapped to meet the normal population standards. In Harrison
Bergeron and the short film 2081, the author and director use similar and different plot structures and
characteristics. Each similarity and difference show that limiting variation in a society is dangerous.
Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081 have many similar elements in plot structure and
characteristics. For example, The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren t only
equal before the law. They were equal in every which way (Vonnegut 38). 2081 choose to incorporate
the same beginning narration in the short story. This element sets up the viewer s expectations for the
plot and contributes to the idea of what Vonnegut portrays as the conflict of interest in the story.
Harrison does not want society to be equal and tries to overthrow the government to change that
because he sees the problems with total equality in society. In addition, both the film and short story
show how handicaps negatively affect society through Harrison father, George. In 2081, George is
shown with a handicap that plays sharp sounds such as a pin hitting a milk bottle to impair his thought
process. This detail shows how the

Social Anxiety Disorders
The diagnosis of social phobia requires the symptoms to be consistent and persistent , as well as
causing significant distress which damage social, occupational, or other important areas of life

My Personal Experience In College
My first semester at the University of Evansville has been some of the best, yet hardest, days of my
life. I have made many new friends, joined clubs, attended events on campus, and worked out at the
gym, but along with all this fun came a lot of stress, hard work, and restless nights. Although I had
some rough times, I believe that taking ID 106 provided with me all the information I need to cope
when put into these situations and taught me how to avoid being put into stressful situations. Dr.
Powell lectured on positive psychology during the first week of ID 106, and I think that overall, this
was the most valuable lecture all semester. Coming into college, I knew it would be challenging, but I
do not think I realized exactly how challenging it would actually be. Dr. Powell s lecture on hope,
resilience, self efficiency, and personal responsibility allowed me to cope in times of struggle. For
example, my first college exam was in chemistry. I studied hard for the exam, and I ended up getting a
C . I was distraught, but then I remembered back to what I had been taught in ID 106. Instead of
moping around and harping on the bad, I decided to look at my test and figure out what I did wrong.
That way, I could correct my mistakes next time. After reviewing my first chemistry test, I realized
that I was still not in full understanding of why I missed some of the questions that I did. I knew right
then that I needed to talk to my professor, but he seemed intimidating, and I

Essay on Critical Circumstances of the Vietnam War
CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VIETNAM WAR
The Vietnam War was a cold war that spanned from 1956 to the fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975. It
can be seen that the end result of the Vietnam War tainted America s image through its failure to
demolish the Vietnamese Communist Government . It should be noted that many years before
America was directly involved with the war, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were under French colonial
rule where the Việt Minh (the communist nationalist independence coalition) spent many years
fighting for freedom from the French. In 1959 the Geneva Conference permitted the foremost powers
to come to an agreement on Indochina which would temporarily divide Vietnam at the 17th parallel.

This examination hopes to place further clarity on the positions of both the Americans and the
Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War, while also providing additional insight behind living
through the war experience.
VIETNAMESE INSIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES During the Vietnam War the Northern part of
Vietnam was controlled by the Việt Minh while also being supported by communist China and Russia.
The Novel, The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam, written by Bao Ninh, does not heavily
emphasize the political position of the North solely, but tells the tale of a Vietnam soldier who has
lived through war, who happens to be fighting for the North s cause. Kien, the main character,
attempts to comfort both his personal and national losses through recounting experiences by compiling
a memoir, while also exploring the causes of anguish behind the war. A recurring theme in the novel is
the idea of people who fight in the war and people who become affected by the war both share a heavy
burden of trauma and suffering. As the story unfolds, Kien recalls his position as a platoon
commander responsible for collecting corpses, but then turns in for the night on a hammock on a
transport truck very close to the edges of The Jungle of Screaming Souls. Being a survivor of many
gruesome battles within this jungle, Kien suddenly begins to suffer from vivid flashbacks of his time
fighting. He also recalls the desperation of him and his comrades, who would consume

Importance of Cross Cultural Communications
Effective cross cultural communication is one of the most important issues dealt with in business,
particularly when a firm operates at an international level. Communication is a process with three key
elements, which includes a source, an audience, and a channel. Communication derived from
businesses will have listeners that include, but are not limited to customers, employees, suppliers, and
the community (Caddy et al.). These listeners contribute to the success of a firm, which is why there is
so much emphasis put into creating appropriate channels of communication. This effect is further
amplified when dealing at an international level, where the effect of culture and time has more
bearing.
What makes effective communication important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many cultures employ a hierarchical approach to communication, but often this method of results in
important issues being dodged. This problem is highlighted in an (Nakamoto 2008) article on Japanese
companies. In the article it is reported that many of the Japanese companies employ a very rigid
communication structure, and overseas managers were hired to create a more efficient method of
communication. An open exchange or direct method of communication is much more effective as
ideas can be garnered from different levels of the organisation.
Overcoming various linguistic issues is another operational benefit experienced when an effective
communication channel is established. Due to the legal issues of each country, language differences do
not only affect face o face interaction, but written communications as well (Bovee 2008). Through
proper planning and research, however, a business is able to preempt such a problem from occurring,
possibly by arranging for an interpreter to translate.
Failing to establish an effective means for communication when an ethical issue arises can be
detrimental to the stability of a workplace. This problem is particularly pertinent, when you consider
the fact that globalization has diversified workplace cultures. This can lead to what Huntington (cited
in Eunson 2005) described as a clash of civilizations , due to the different perspectives on morality in
the western and eastern countries. Neglecting this issue can create

is a perfect mix of catchy rock songs, real life problems and experiences with exciting characters and
storylines that made the show destined to be a hit. And a hit it became, as it is a winner of the Tony
Award for Best Musical and Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama. The play is set in New York City s East
Village during the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the late 1980s. The story focuses on eight impoverished
young artists whom are struggling with addiction, AIDS and hope. The play was written in 1993 by
Jonathan Larson, whom based it loosely off of Puccini s La Boheme. The production was initially
performed in an Off Broadway theatre until it was moved in 1996 to Broadway s Nederlander Theatre.
With its success, director Chris Columbus transitioned the play into a film in 2005. The film has
proven to be an even bigger success and even became an important part of American culture. The
storyline with its breakthrough themes have shed a light into the struggles and life during this time

England experienced in the war and the drastic changes made after the war. Forced to give up their

GPSIntroduction : GPS on bike has a market in India
The worldwide market for global positioning system (GPS) navigation and locationbased services has
been growing exponentially and is expected to rise to 13.4 billion Rupees in 2014, with a high
compound annual growth rate. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market
holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger
generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike.
However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation devices
(PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend, says Rajat
Tandon, director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market. In
this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will be
critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer perspective it
will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change devices periodically
and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would be similar to what the
mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge.
Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business
plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on import of GPS
devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important to encourage
competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the past has been exciting
and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the more interesting and exciting
than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be created and leaders will be made of
existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us look forward to a huge growth in the
coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it actually does come our way.

states the aim of the research and the reached findings. There are 7 sections in the article. The first one
is introduction, where the authors explain what results are reached and carefully introduce the readers
to the structure of the article. In the next section the hypotheses is derived. After that, section 3, the
variables and the data is described. The tests begin from section 4 to section 6. In those sections the
authors use non parametric tests, regression analyses and vector autoregressive specifications in order
to reach their results. The last section is the conclusion of the article, where the major findings are
listed. The authors find that institutions prefer firms that pay dividends to ones which don t. Moreover,
within dividend paying firms, institutions are not attracted to high dividends. They also find a positive
relation between repurchases and institutional holdings. Their results also suggest that institutions
prefer firms that repurchase regularly to firms that repurchase sporadically. They don t find evidence
that an increase in institutional holdings in firms is followed by an increase in dividends or
repurchases. Their article has been cited 412 times by other authors.

It was sparked by Hitler s invasion of Poland, but hostilities between Germany, Poland, and the rest of
Europe had existed long before the invasion. Clearly some problems had strained these international
relations previously. Instead of looking at single events that gleam no information as to the causes of
these horrendous wars, examining more fundamental causes will lead to valuable information about
the guiding forces that lead to the World Wars. Knowledge of these causes will not only allow for
better study of the World Wars, but will allow for better study of contemporary actions that could lead
to World War Three. Imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and incompetent leaders laid the
foundations for WWI, but the treaty that was supposed to end the war never solved those problems.
Instead they, along with the Great Depression, created the perfect breeding ground for Axis fascism
and imperial conflict that spiraled into

Emile Durkheim Social Facts Examples
According to Emile Durkheim, a social fact is a manner of acting, thinking and feeling engaged by
individuals because and on condition that other members of the social group are also engaged in the
same thing. He said that social facts exist outside human consciousness because it is external,
objective and inherited. It is not in the mind of the person, it is in the environment. Social facts also
have a coercive power that can have a causal influence. We often realize and be aware of the social
fact if we stay away from them, resist or contradict because we are usually unaware of all the social
facts. Social facts do not necessarily require social institutions or organizations for it to be recognized
as a social fact because there are social facts that are not institutional facts. Social facts cannot be
defined by their universality for it can only be defined in a collective aspect because it is practiced by
the community, creating a collective action, making it social. Lastly, according to him, in a holistic
perspective, social facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Searle defined brute facts as facts that exist independent of us. They are objects that are independent
of human environment. Example would be mountains, rivers, pebbles, etc. Institutional facts however
are facts that are greatly dependent on human environment or institutions for its existence. Example of
this is the government. We constantly recognize the importance and purpose of the government
because of its function. With out human institutions, the government will just be a system. Even the
thought of it of being a system is highly dependent on us. Aside from the brute and institutional facts,
Searle made another distinction in his article, the regulative and the constitutive rules. Regulative rules
regulate existing activities while constitutive rules constitute a certain thing and are responsible for the
creation of a certain

Death And The Maiden Short Story
Don t you know who I am? Intro Hook Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol
Oates, was originally entitled Death and the Maiden. In this short story, Oates provides internal events
in the form of excitement and suspense. These internal events are also the climax. Arnold Friend, the
demonic adversary, causes Connie, the protagonist, the anguish which drives the plot. Arnold Friend
persuades Connie to cross the threshold into the adult world and lose her innocence. Home life Friend
first noticed Connie when she was at the diner, her parents did not know she was there. Connie has
been hiding a lot from her family, including the way she dressed when she was not home. Connie has
a home life which is not ideal. Her father is mentally absent, her mother is jealous of her and therefore
treats her poorly, she is always compared to her sister, she feels she has nothing other than her looks,
and seeks attention from boys, since she doesn t get any attention at home. This is what causes her to
meet Arnold Friend. Appearance One of the things about Arnold Friend that cause one to believe he is
the Devil is his appearance. From head to toe, his appearance is meant to be deceptive. He is roughly
thirty years old, and dresses like a teenager. Friend has black shaggy hair that looks like a wig, black
thick lashes, and a five o clock shadow. In literature, it is common for dark hair to symbolize an evil
character, and that is definitely the case here. Friend s face is

Lab Report On The Reaction Time
Nicholas Durazo
KINE2202 section 002
Lab Report 1
Introduction
The reaction time (RT) of students was measured in the experiment to determine whether light or
sound stimulus initiates a quicker response time. The question of whether or not RT was related to
movement time (MT) was also challenged. Each student performed two test in random order; one
testing the reaction time of a red light stimulus, or visual reaction time (VRT); and the other testing the
reaction time of a beeping sound stimulus, or auditory reaction time (ART). The student completed the
VRT trial by simply receiving the stimulus and pressing a button. The student placing and holding
their hand on a button starts the ART trial. Once the student receives the stimulus (beep) they press the
adjacent button as fast as they can. The ART trial does not only include the data of the RT, but also the
data from the MT. Having previous knowledge that light travels faster than sound; one can predict that
VRT is faster than ART. The prediction that MT is independent upon RT can be made with the thought
that there are so many opposing variables that could affect the MT of an individual unrelated RT such
as old age
Methods
In the experiment, 80 students were randomly separated into groups of 2 to write down the data from
the test for the other individual. The VRT was measured by pressing a button once the student had
seen the stimulus. The reaction time data would simply show up on the screen once the student
completed

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite
manifestation, for God is All in all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real

Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual. (S H 468)

unconventional, this is not a major departure from mainstream Christianity, since God is believed to
encompass both male and female (both were created in the image of God ). Christian Science teaches
that Jesus is divine but not God, and that Jesus human nature is a separate entity from the divine
Christ. Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God (Science and Health,

idea of God, healing the sick and sinning and destroying the power of death (Science and Health,

  • 2. Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local... Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood). There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies. Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances, which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was able to demonstrate that having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a nice morning, about 50 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. I hopped into my Chevy truck to head to the restaurant. There were cars zipping around the town because church had just gotten let out, and families were going to get food somewhere. Through my personal experiences, I know that Freddie s is a popular place to go on a Sunday. The owner s daughter, Stephanie Cannon, is my middle brother s girlfriend (also my broker), and she worked at the restaurant on its busiest days. She explained to me that many families enjoy gathering at Freddie s for a traditional breakfast after their church service is finished. She also noted that Freddie s offers some of the best food for a great price. On certain Sundays, there is a breakfast buffet that is extremely popular, and there s a wide variety of food offered at those buffets. I also know the owners, Mark and Sue Cannon, very well because they are obviously Stephanie s parents. Our families have been very close ever since I was a little kid, and we ve eaten at Freddie s many times. During the summer when my brother and Steph are home, we eat there occasionally. It s nice because we don t even have to pay. I had to pick up my brother, Derek, and Steph from her house because they wanted to go to breakfast while I observed. We arrived at the restaurant, and there were a lot of cars parked outside the restaurant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet no productive negotiation could be possible without the valuable use of skills. Two types of skills can help a successful negotiator. The first type is hard skills, which are guidelines, strategic measures, or anything that can be copied down onto paper and taught. The second type is soft skills, which are the skills acquired through practicing negotiation that can t necessarily be taught. Throughout the process problems arise that are situation specific. Knowing when one party is bluffing or trying to trick the other party are skills that come with learning through experience. The delivery of statements and ideas are definitely situation specific. Discussing an issue with a church group may not be the same type of discussion that may be necessary with a theater group. Individuals respond differently to how phrases are stated. Only through working with similar groups does a negotiator learn how best to phrase their ideas to parties in any given situation. Learning how to best reframe a harsh or inappropriate statement into the truth of the statement is also a soft skill that is highly beneficial to negotiators. The only way to learn how to accomplish this difficult skill is by practicing it. It takes years of practicing and using this skill in negotiation processes to truly learn how to effectively hone it. Being able to determine the best possible solution to the problem for both parties involved in a negotiation is also something that cannot be learned. Each negotiation is going to be different and have different circumstances. Even after years of working with groups in negotiation or mediation situations, it is still difficult to help both sides create a mutually beneficial solution to their problem. This is something that almost comes as a talent to negotiators. It takes a certain gift ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone feels a need to love and to be loved. Some attempt to fill this yearning with activities and possessions that will not satisfy with activities in which they should not participate and possessions they should not own. In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress, the speaker encounters an emotion some would call love but fits better under the designation of lust for a woman. While the lustful lover of Marvell s poem also bases his love on physical beauty, the speaker in Herrick s poem neither condones nor condemns this societal standard, but simply acknowledges its existence. He explains that they may for ever tarry if they do not marry when youth and blood are warmer and they are in their prime (16,10,15). After all, who wants to marry some gnarly old woman? The speaker in Herrick s poem makes a reasonable request, urging virgins to marry. On the contrary, the infatuated boyfriend in Marvell s poem makes an unreasonable request, even for today. • 10. The Relationship Between School Choice And Segregation School choice is a hot topic at the moment in the politics throughout Texas. Many seem to be against it, but see the benefits in the choice. Through this paper I research what the relationship between school choice and segregation is. Through this paper I will explore the isolation of the English language learning students and the challenges they face because of it. The location of schools and that reflects in their students, policies of the schools, and of the programs that they offer. Literature Review Charter schools enroll larger proportions of minority and low‐income students and smaller proportions of White students than traditional district public schools statewide: African American students make up 33% of the students in Texas open‐enrollment charter schools compared to 14% in Texas public schools, overall. Hispanic students make up 48% of the students enrolled in open‐enrollment charter schools, compared to the state average of 46%. Open‐enrollment charter schools have a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (70%) than the state average (56%), a lower percentage of students classified as limited‐English proficient (14%) than the state average (16%), and a lower percentage of students served in special education (10%) than the state average (11%). o Campus charter schools serve predominantly Hispanic and low‐income student populations. https://www.tasb.org/Legislative/Issue Based Resources/documents/charters.aspx ......................................... Salinger s character development of Holden Caulfield has been affected by Salinger s complications in his school life, devastating past relationships, and overwhelming traumatic events during his pre The Catcher in the Rye adulthood. J.D. Salinger s school life had many significant events that are shown through Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye. In the novel, the 17 year old Holden Caulfield leaves Pencey Prep. When Salinger attended McBurney School, he tried to conform so he can fit (one way was calling himself Jerry). While at this school, he also acted in plays and wrote the school s newspaper. This is shown through Holden as he doesn t try to conform (which could be representing Salinger s regret to try and conform), hates phoniness (as acting as a character [for example: in a play] is considered being phony), and likes writing (as shown in the beginning of chapter one as he tells the audience his story and how he admires his writer brother, D.B.). Salinger himself stated, My boyhood was very much the same as that of the boy in the book, and it was a great relief telling people about it (interview by Shirlie Blaney). Salinger s many failed relationships in his lives, from his parents to love interests, are hinted throughout Holden s life and his character. Salinger s father was from a Jewish descent while his mother was from a Catholic descent; however Salinger didn t know about this until his bar mitzvah. Salinger had problematic issues with his father like how his father basically disapproved of his son in general (for example: participation in plays). It was even described that J.D. skipped his father s funeral and later stopped eating meat (stated by www.nndb.com). • 12. The Personality Theories Of Sigmund Freud ( 1856-1939 )... Examined are the key elements in the personality theories of Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) and Carl Jung (1875 1961). Prior to Freud, personality psychology did not exist. Freud s psychoanalytic theory conceptualized personality development in terms of psychosexual stages whereby personality was fixed by middle childhood. Freud explained that mental and physical illnesses were the result of an individual not being aware of the inner conflict which was experienced due to repressed infantile sexuality (Friedman Schustack, 2012). Jung, as part of the neo analytic movement, meaning new analysis, was the first to deviate from Freud calling his theory of personality analytic psychology. Central to Jung s belief was that people s sexual urges were no more important than their goals and motivations and that personality development was lifelong (Friedman Schustack, 2012). His perspective was more social and optimistic than Freud s perspective. Within the many similarities in their personality theories, exposed in some detail are their many differences in terms of motivation, the id versus the ego, consciousness, dream interpretation, and complexes. By Jung challenging Freud on his conceptualization of personality, doors were opened enabling fresh approaches to emerge and thrive. Integrating Change Models and the Theology of Leadership A sentiment common to almost any organization is that the one fact that remains constant is change. As society changes, and human understanding grows, any organization that maintains a static posture, assures its demise. Churches and Christian organizations are no exception. The gospel may remain the same, but the method for communicating it must speak to the audience to assure understanding. The leadership can achieve a transformation in organizational thinking by applying Kotter s eight step plan, focusing on creativity (Gupta, 2011). The General Systems Theory (GST) came about as an effort to describe the systems approach, born from the biological concept of the organism developed in the first part of the 20th century (Von Bertalanffy, 1972). In contrast to the mechanistic systems which are closed and have a direct relationship between a cause and its effect, a biological or social system is open, operating on a principle of equifinality, where regardless of the starting point, the objective can be achieved (Kast Rosenzweig, 1972). Any system will achieve equilibrium, but an open system can reach a steady state by accessing resources from outside itself (Kast Rosenzweig, 1972). Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike. However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation devices (PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend, says Rajat Tandon, director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market. In this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will be critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer perspective it will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change devices periodically and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge. Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on import of GPS devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important to encourage competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the past has been exciting and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the more interesting and exciting than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be created and leaders will be made of existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us look forward to a huge growth in the coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it actually does come our way. Cultural implication for gps entry in Indian market... World War One (WWI) started when Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalist, assassinated Archduke Francis Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro Hungarian throne. The assassination was not the singular cause of WWI, as tensions between Serbia and Austria Hungary(AH) existed before Ferdinand s assassination. Emile Durkheim Social Facts Examples According to Emile Durkheim, a social fact is a manner of acting, thinking and feeling engaged by individuals because and on condition that other members of the social group are also engaged in the same thing. He said that social facts exist outside human consciousness because it is external, objective and inherited. It is not in the mind of the person, it is in the environment. Social facts also have a coercive power that can have a causal influence. We often realize and be aware of the social fact if we stay away from them, resist or contradict because we are usually unaware of all the social facts. Social facts do not necessarily require social institutions or organizations for it to be recognized as a social fact because there are social facts that are not institutional facts. Social facts cannot be defined by their universality for it can only be defined in a collective aspect because it is practiced by the community, creating a collective action, making it social. Lab Report On The Reaction Time Nicholas Durazo KINE2202 section 002 Lab Report 1 Introduction The reaction time (RT) of students was measured in the experiment to determine whether light or sound stimulus initiates a quicker response time. The question of whether or not RT was related to movement time (MT) was also challenged. Each student performed two test in random order; one testing the reaction time of a red light stimulus, or visual reaction time (VRT); and the other testing the reaction time of a beeping sound stimulus, or auditory reaction time (ART). The student completed the VRT trial by simply receiving the stimulus and pressing a button. The student placing and holding their hand on a button starts the ART trial. Once the student receives the stimulus (beep) they press the adjacent button as fast as they can. The ART trial does not only include the data of the RT, but also the data from the MT. Having previous knowledge that light travels faster than sound; one can predict that VRT is faster than ART. The prediction that MT is independent upon RT can be made with the thought that there are so many opposing variables that could affect the MT of an individual unrelated RT such as old age Methods In the experiment, 80 students were randomly separated into groups of 2 to write down the data from the test for the other individual. The VRT was measured by pressing a button once the student had seen the stimulus. The reaction time data would simply show up on the screen once the student completed ...
