This puts Daniel in a potentially dangerous situation that is out of his control. After finding his shop in
shambles, Farhad goes to Daniel s house to confront him and demands his money back. While they are

The Salvation Army and its Biblical Soundness Until very recently, I believed that the Salvation Army
was only a charity. My father had spoken to me of them about their kindness to him when he was
waiting to disembark during World War Two. I also encounter them during the holiday season when
they are ringing their bells beside donation kettles. Upon receiving my assignment to research them,
brought me to the understanding of their denominational status. In the preface to his book, Marching
to Glory, E.H. McKinley makes this clear: The Army is more than blandly beneficial, more than a
mere charity. It is a religious crusade, an evangelical Christian denomination (McKinley xi).
The scope of this paper will be to examine some of the background and history of the Salvation Army,
but more importantly to analyze the Biblical soundness of their doctrine. Further, the Biblical
soundness will be presented showing where their doctrine might be lacking. This purpose is to gain
personal and shared edification with my colleagues concerning the workings of this denomination.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Euthyphro believes that for a man to be holy to the gods, he must act accordingly, and do what is
pleasing to the gods. Taking care of the gods is doing service for the gods. This definition seems to
lead to the idea that prayer and sacrifice will get a person what he or she wants as long as it is
considered holy by the gods. This explanation indicates that either the gods recognize holy things and
love them because they are holy, or the gods love these things that they are holy. It is only because the

The effect of irony is generally comic, but as we can see from these few examples, Garcia Marquez

The Aztecs built their city of Tenochtitlan on the site, which today is found in the center of Mexico
City. At its height, Tenochtitlan had a multi ethnic population of more than 200,000 people, which

Solomon Northup executed his very gruesome and serious tone throughout his memoir by providing
dialogue said by real life people and using diction to give nauseating details to events going on around
him throughout his twelve years in bondage. For example, Solomon Northup explains in chapter five
how a fellow free slave named Arthur was abused for trying to protest the unfair kidnapping. Solomon
states, He fought until his strength failed him. Overpowered at last, he was gagged and bound with

called Abandoned Mine Drainage. AMD is a nonpoint source pollution that has degraded more than
4,500 stream miles, in just the mid Atlantic region, due to the drainage of metal rich water from
mining activities (Jacobs). The runoff is extremely acidic due to the exposure of pyrite containing
rocks, a sulfur bearing mineral (FeS2), during mining activities, and the chemical reactions associated
with the contact of air and water with such rocks. As a result of such chemical reactions, sulfuric acid
(H2SO4) is produced. Several chemical reactions take place and are as follows: 1. 2FeS2(s) + 7O2 (g)

The Koster site located in Eldred, Illinois is an exceptionally unique site because of its multiple
inhabitants over nine thousand years during the archaic period. Each layer of the Koster site reveals a
story of the people living there, and gives a visual into what people living there did, what they ate, and
how they lived day to day life as ancient Native Americans (Indiana University of Penn 2015). The
Koster site is just one of the many archaeological sites in North America, which seems to be consistent
with other ancient peoples living during this archaic time period.
The Koster site is located in the Illinois River Valley, in Green County Illinois. The closest town

for a tower. A telecommunications tower cannot be built in excess of the maximum height limitation
imposed within a specific zone. As a matter of clarification, Mr. Powell has indicated that they have
placed this tower where the County directed them to do so. She had several conversations over the
duration of three to four months with one of Mr. Powell s colleagues relative to the location of the
proposed tower and staff s concerns relative to the placement of such. When the applicant submitted
the special use permit application, the zoning maps indicated the proposed site was in the A 2 Zone
District. Upon review of the application, it was determined that the zone district line on the digital
map, which are not the official zoning maps, was A 3. This is when the height limitation came into

The book Orchid of the Bayou was eye opening. Cathryn (Kitty) Hoffpauir Fischer did a good job of
being honest, which really allowed the reader to get a better understanding of what being deaf in this
time period meant. Her writing really allowed me to see the different struggles that deaf children had
to face, and how these struggles were overcome by Kitty. This book taught me many things about
Deaf culture. First, this book allowed me to see the negative way in which deaf people were
perceived. This book is not old by any means, and I was taken aback by the way deaf children were
perceived by not only others in the community, but often times by their own parents as well. The term

This also discouraged some parents from enrolling their child because they did not want them to be
away for such long periods of time. Now schools for the deaf are more common, and deaf children can
attend mainstream public schools also; making it apparent that just because a child is deaf does not
mean that they are dumb by any means. Also, Kitty has a disease called Usher Syndrome. Before
reading this book I had never heard of it, and thus never realized how common it really is. This
disease takes away two vital senses; hearing and vision. Kitty really opens up about her fears about
losing her sight. The idea of total isolation is scary, without a doubt, and in my opinion she handles it
with more courage than I could have ever imagined. Sign language is visual, and once Kitty loses her
ability to see it will be very difficult to communicate with her family, and nearly impossible to
communicate with hearing people who she most of the time needs an interpreter to communicate with
anyways. I was very impressed by Kitty s courage throughout her life. As a child she is extremely
brave considering she in unable to communicate with her family, and is very confused by most of
what goes on in her life because of this communication barrier. Kitty makes the best of her situation
regardless. As she gets older she shows extreme courage again as her father faces alcoholism and
struggles to keep food on the table for the family. Kitty again handles this with courage beyond her
