Berlusconi s Struggles Essay
According to Silvio Berlusconi, he is the best political leader in Europe and in the world. There can be
a difference in opinion regarding that statement, but the majority of Italian voters decided Berlusconi
should be elected prime minister again in 2008. He is in the midst of his third term as prime minister
of Italy; inheriting many challenges from his predecessor. During his time in office, addition problems
arose. An analysis of Berlusconi s government reveals three issues affecting Italy: the garbage pick up
strike in Naples, immigration, and personal scandals. An analysis shows the causes, repercussions and
responses to the issues.
Silvio Berlusconi was born in Milan on September 29, 1936. According to BBC News, he started out

Inadequate resolutions to this problem early on have allowed this to happen again in 2007. Although
$11 billion has been spent on waste management, it has not prevented the issue from recurring (
Rubbish in Naples ).
The garbage crisis started in December 2007 when landfills closed and workers stopped collecting
trash. With nowhere else to dump garbage, streets became dumpsters. The Naples strike had garbage
piling up to an incredible height and even narrowed streets. Residents were left to deal with the foul
smell of the left over trash, but also the possibility of the trash having an effect on their health.
The European Commission set a deadline of a month for the garbage to be picked up in Naples. In a
press release, the European Commission formally accused Italy of not adhering to EU legislation on
waste and threatened legal actions if measures were not taken to alleviate the problem ( Commission
Sends Final Warning ). Stavros Dimas, a top environmental official, estimated that 100,000 tons of
garbage was contributing to the problem (Polvoledo, EU Criticizes Italy ). The European Commission
argued that the risk of the spread of disease and pollution through air, water and land needed to be
taken seriously ( Commission Sends Final Warning ). If Italy did not resolve the garbage crisis by the
deadline it imposed, the case would be sent to the European Court of Justice. The mafia in Italy has

Moral Philosophies In Business
Moral philosophies provide a guide on how conflicts in businesses are settled. They also assist in
optimizing mutual benefits of individual in a business setup. There is no single manner of solving
ethical issues in businesses and each type of moral philosophy provides a distinct source of
determining whether a certain act is right or wrong. Although there are different sources of
determining whether an act is wrong or right, each type of moral philosophy provides a similar
appropriate outcome. Utilitarianism, for example, follows that an act is moral if it yields the greatest
good for the greatest number. In this case the determination of whether an act is right or wrong
depends on whether the consequences resulting from the act affects everyone an d not just a single
individual. Utilitarianism requires the determination of alternatives regarding the act or situation,
estimation of benefits of the action to all individuals in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moral philosophies create an avenue for the assessment of a business especially with respect to
matters that concern economic science. These views are likely to depict views that are founded on
moral decisions and results in policies which are based on better choices. The application of moral
philosophies by a business inspires the business and other entities to examine whom they conduct
business with. Additionally, moral philosophies inspire business managers and executives to adopt
more socially responsible organizational practices in order to stay relevant in the global environment.
Moral philosophies adopted by a business also provide a basis for the development of public
perception of the business. The way a business is viewed by other business entities is largely
dependent on the moral philosophies adopted by the business. Adoption of appropriate moral
philosophies by an organization is important in the improvement of the businesses public

Celebrities And Teen Drinking
In today s society one of the things that we hold dearest to our hearts are celebrities. We watch them
on our favorite tv shows, we listen to them sing, and we watch them walk on the runway. But are they
good role models towards teens? No celebrities are not good role models to kids of all ages.
Celebrities can cause teen drinking, they can cause teens to have a lower self esteem of themselves,
and the create a sense of disillusionment. With teen drinking at an all time high people are looking for
the cause of the problem, but is the problem right in front of them. Celebrities on television shows,
and commercials are shown drinking alcohol, and doing drugs and Teens see these people partying,

as role models. The next reason is because they show kids that they should not do good work because
they should do good work. Rather they show it because the majority of stars doing charity work are

How Does Schindler s List Relate To Steven Spielberg
In 1993, Schindler s List won Best Picture from the Academy Awards. Steven Spielberg not only
directed the movie, but helped produce it as well. Spielberg won his first Oscar for Best Director for
Schindler s List, an award that had eluded him in the past. He managed to acquire the rights to direct
the film from Martin Scorsese in exchange for the rights to direct Cape Fear (1991), (New York
Times, 1991). Branko Lustig, a producer for Schindler s List, tracked down Spielberg and pleaded to
him to let him produce the movie. He showed Spielberg his Jewish tattoo that the Nazi s gave him
during his time at Auschwitz. Lustig brought a great sense of authenticity to the film and is credited
with selecting the faces of the extras in the films. Schindler s List is based off of the novel, Schindler s
Ark by Thomas Keneally. According to Spielberg, he wanted to make the movie because the book is

of the time half being in shadow, the other in light showing Schindler s selfish dark side. Towards the
end, he finally transition from profiteer to savior with his face becoming lighted more. One major
color shot in the movie was when Schindler was on a hill and saw a little Jewish girl walking through
the ghetto with a red coat. It is when Schindler finally grasps the innocence of the Jews that are being
slaughtered by the hands of the Nazis. She is the purity walking unnoticed by the Nazis and

To Mix or Not to Mix? The official mixing of the Natives and white Europeans began during the
French and Indian War when the white settlers collided with the Natives. People of the 1700s held
divided perspectives on the increasing prevalence of miscegenation, and James Fenimore Cooper
fictionalizes several of them in his oeuvre. The two groups nonetheless had numerous conflicts, which
led to racist opinions and prejudices on both sides. James Fenimore Cooper s The Last of the
Mohicans, while endowing humanity to the Native Americans through certain character portrayals,
actually reinforces stereotypes about Native Americans and ultimately suggests that they are an
inferior race to whites. In the novel, Europeans feel superior to Native Americans, creating a clash
between identities that does not permit coexistence. Although Hawkeye interacts with both cultures, as
a man without a cross who lives with natives but remains insistently white, Hawkeye is allowed to
negotiate all possible worlds by remaining either genetically or geographically detached (McIntosh
Byrd 146). Hawkeye stays detached from the whites but still prefers them to the natives. He does not
wish to be part of the native culture because he holds disparaging views of their primitive weapons
and limited scientific knowledge. Hawkeye substantiates this

Introduction Disasters have become an inevitable part of businesses and organizations as well. They
not only have a major effect on business and organizational continuity; they also result to an overhaul
in organizational operational mechanisms (Awasthy, 2009). It is for this reason that many
organizations and business resort to preparing business continuity plans and disaster recovery plans
that will facilitate better disaster management in future. Effective disaster recovery plans are important

Disaster Plan Declaration All efforts of the firm are aimed at establishing and developing an active and
cyclic planning process and document that will foster innovation and technology and that will ensure
that the disaster recovery process is participatory, up to date and timely to meet the objectives of Bain
Company.
Assessment of security Security measures to be input into the firm to boost disaster recovery process
include establishing firm registry in bomb proof vaults that will shield the firm s documents and data
from disasters such as terrorist attacks. Such will ensure that the records of the firm are not tampered
with and as such the company is able to run business without fundamental data loss (Menken and
Blokdjik, 2010). The company can also ensure the installment of fire extinguishers and fire exit doors
within the firm s premises to create better channels of evacuation during fire outbreaks. In addition,
smoke detectors and alarms should also be installed to signify and create warnings in case of such.
Establishing access codes to data registries is another security measure that the firm can uphold. This
will ensure that confidential data and information is only managed by a certain level of management.
In addition, during threats such as civil unrests or riots data will be managed effectively (Thejendra,
2008).

Marianist community they too are very much involved in wide variety of people such as, education,

Marianist community consisted of Priest and Brothers which eventually spread to the Sisters, while
the Jesuits are mainly made up of just Priests and Brothers. The mission of the Marianist is to seek the
gospel through service and the lives of others. With the guidance of Mary, the Marianist work together
to find faith to help serve others for their dignity, liberation, and justice. The Marianist look at Mary as
a model of faith and guidance to help carry out God s plan to serve others. Mary is their model of
faith, just as Jesus is the Jesuits model of faith. Marianist put the presence of Jesus among not only

Rawls Justice As Fairness
Rawls Justice as Fairness: John Rawls was dissatisfied with the traditional philosophical approach to
justifying social and political actions therefore he attempted to provide a reasonable theory of social
justice through a contract theory approach. In his work, A Theory of Justice, Rawls bases almost the
entirety of his piece on the question, what kind of organization of society would rational persons
choose if they were in an initial position of independence and equality and setting up a system of
cooperation (A Theory of Justice enotes)? From this seemingly simple question, Rawls goes into
further detail describing what he believes society would and should do when setting up a fair and just
organizational structure. Throughout his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The veil allows for equality and ensures that no advantaged nor disadvantaged individual will be
swayed to decide a certain way on a principle due to their natural and social biases in society. One
example given in Rawls work deals with two men; one man is wealthy while the other man is poor. As
the topic of tax and reform comes up, the wealthy man pleads his case and denounces the tax and
welfare system that was in place solely because he did not want his riches taken from him. On the
other hand, the poor man pleaded his side of the discussion, fully supporting the tax and welfare
system in place, stating that the system is completely just and necessary, therefore causing a split
conclusion on the principle due to differences in characteristic bias. Therefore, to solve this difference,
Rawls created the notion of the veil of ignorance which gives neither the wealthy man nor the poor
man prior knowledge to their financial status (or any other natural/social statuses) allowing the overall
greater equality for society to be exposed. John Rawls then turns to his justice principles, arguing that
the parties in the Original Position would adopt two such principles, which would structure the
theoretical organization. The first and most important principle is the Liberty Principle. The

Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are
Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set various pieces of literature
apart, while also determining the effectiveness said literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My
Beloved and By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and
religion, but are each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences
include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and the style the
novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers due to its following of a
traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language, and a higher use of personal words and
sentences than found in By Grand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the border and a guard
states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this tough on yourself. (Smart, 48)
Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her mind which only the reader can comprehend
stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main
character is quite unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to
stay on track with the plot.
The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the ease of read the
story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story forward while providing the
reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The passage examined in this paper captures the
dialogue heavy nature of the story and some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to
offer. An interesting point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen
words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level Skill algorithm to be
at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an argument that this story is written to reach
many people as it uses a less advanced dictionary than many other works.
Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand Central Station I
Sat Down and Wept, which although written

First Seed Plants False The Earth
How the First Seed Plants Froze the Earth
With a little bacteria and a little bit of dirt, the first plant on earth was created. This plant was no more
than mats of algae that layered on top of itself in water, but it was a first nonetheless. It was not until
the end of the Ordovician period, some 480 million years ago, that plants began to grow on land.
Bryophytes were the first to grow, which included mosses, hornworts, and liverworts. Lacking any
leaves, these plants went through a Gametophyte stage, reproducing by dividing cells into spores. Also
reproducing with spores, the Lycopodiophyta (Lycopods) evolved simple microphyll leaves with just
one leaf vein bringing sunlight and nutrients in to support the plant.
The beginning of the Silurian Period (440 million years ago) brought vascular plants such as ferns,

The lignins in plants becomes buried over time, not allowing the carbon atoms to release back into the
atmosphere. Two historic climate changes that took place around the same time could possible be
explained by the evolution of seed plants. The first is the Snowball earth theory that suggest the
equator and therefore the whole earth was at one point completely covered in ice. Evidence for this
theory is found in earthforms that contain markings similar to those that glaciers make. Another theory
is the Cambrian explosion which resulted in creating the first fossils of every animals category. There
are still many debated and unproven theories about the evolution of plants but one thing that is for
certain is that they had one of the largest impacts on the planet, shaping the atmosphere and biosphere
the most in establishing conditions to support animal life, by supporting the soil, air, water, food

Steven Spielberg s Jaws And Jurassic Park
Steven Spielberg is a director who has made many movies including Jaws (1975) and Jurassic Park
(1993). Both Jaws and Jurassic Park show animals behaving in the way that nature intended them to
behave. However, in Jaws the animal finds himself trapped in an unnatural environment, an inlet
where humans swim. In Jurassic Park, animals that became extinct millions of years ago, dinosaurs,
also find themselves in unnatural environment occupied by humans. I want to compare these two
movies because I enjoy action movies and thrillers. Also they were both made before I was born and I
have only seen them now for the first time. Both movies hold the audience attention from the very
beginning and you feel yourself going through the emotions that the actors display. Steven Spielberg
uses nature in both films as his theme to develop his story. In Jaws there is a great white shark that
terrorizes a small island town and in Jurassic Park there are manufactured dinosaurs that are developed
out of altered DNA that terrorize an island that was to be a theme park.
In Jaws there is a large white shark who seems to be unstoppable. The movie begins with an
unsuspecting girl swimming when the shark comes up on her and kills her. From the moment the
movie begins the viewer knows who the villain is. The cast consists of Roy Schneider as Chief Brody
who struggles throughout the movie to do the right thing to save lives while the politicians constantly

Essay about The Constitutionality of Prayer
The question of the constitutionality of prayer in our public schools and public school system has been
an ongoing controversy for the past three decades. There is only one way to end the controversy, and it
is pertinent to the well being of our youth and our nation. We must keep church and state forever
separate. Any form of prayer in the public school system is an explicit violation of the first
amendment, is coercive, and harmful to not only our nations children, but to the nation itself. The
question of prayer in school should never have even been a question, and the fact that it remains three
decades later is nothing short of unfaithful to the constitution. One could even go so far as to call this
issue unpatriotic, as we are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or, take it from Thomas Jefferson. As he put it, the First Amendment serves in part to build a wall of
separation between church and state (Gaylor). Any way you put it it is clear to see that the First
Amendment was created to keep church and state separate, and allowing prayer in our public schools
is an obvious violation to the intentions of the creators of the Constitution. There is no possible way
one could misinterpret the intentions of our forefathers when they wrote the Bill of Rights. The First
Amendment forbids government funded religious activity. Public Schools are government funded, and
prayer is a religious activity. Therefore, according to our constitution, prayer has no place in our
public schools. This is not to say that a Christian child cannot pray to God, or a Muslim child cannot
pray to Allah, they just cannot do so during the time spent at school or during school functions. This
leaves the average elementary to high school student with a good 130 hours a week to do their
worshiping, and this does not even include weekends (Education). If the amendment itself is not clear
enough, maybe a little history is. No one can argue that our founders made America home in pursuit of
religious freedom. This is fact. America was created when our founding fathers fled religious
persecution from their own government. Since the beginning America has been a religious mosaic,
blending Christians with Catholics and

Small Government And Nonprofit Groups Vs. Small Community
A large scale effort including the government would be much more effective, than a small community.
You have much more people helping out when you are required to do it and when you already have
committed to it. When having a community doing it, it s not like you are forced to help out, because it
s a volunteering thing, so you usually don t get a bunch of people helping out. It s not that a
community coming together wouldn t be any help, it just wouldn t make as much of a difference as the
government would.
A large scale effort would also be more effective, because they have the ability to buy supplies when
needed. The government also has different positions to do different jobs, so they can get every job
done.
Nonprofit groups are also a really big help in the community and can make a big difference in the
community. Nonprofit groups are large organizations that make a difference in our community. These
groups are important, because they are valuable programs that help make an economic impact within
everybody s local communities. Nonprofit groups provide a community driven way to help ensure
services and programs are in place when certain people need them.
These large nonprofit groups and the government have helped save and flourish many different
species of many animals and plants. One example is the Brown Pelican located in Louisiana. This
animal was at 1,276, before the government and nonprofit groups helped out. In the 1970 s this
pelican almost became extinct,

In this paper we will discuss Toyota s Production System and how it works with the strategy of their
business. We will define their mission and visions goals and their core principles as it applies to their
company. This paper will also discuss their basic approaches and general practices. It is also important
to understand what the Toyota Production System entails and how Lean operations began.
For instance, according to Stevenson, lean operation is a flexible system of operations that uses
considerably fewer resources than a traditional system. For example, Lee s Transportation owned by
Tony and Lisa Jones, can no longer operate due to several vehicle accidents caused by their drivers.
This has resulted in an increase in their insurance premiums with All State and the premiums are too
expensive for them to maintain their business. This unfortunate situation has caused a great hardship
and Tony and Lisa have no other option than to discharge their employees. Eventually, they coordinate
with a business partner and financial advisor and are able to start their company again under a changed
name, Loving Hands. They are now able to obtain insurance coverage through State Farm.
The Jones re hire their previous employees but with new policies and procedures implemented. They
have incorporated monthly staff meetings on safety while driving, online training courses quarterly, in
addition to driving classes being mandatory and held annually. Tony and Lisa executes strict policies

Explain both concepts and the differences between them. Describe the observations that led to the
hypothesis that dark matter is an important component of the Universe. Describe the suggested
constituents of the dark matter.
There have been many attempts to understand the world we live in, ranging from studies of objects as
small in size as DNA to the study of massive objects as galaxy clusters and even the whole universe.
Being focused on only what can be observed, it had been thought that the universe is completely of
visible matter for most of the past (1) (2). However, after many researches it has been found that the

During the 1970s, dark matter had been discovered accidentally by astronomers Vera Rubin and Kent
Ford, they were observing galaxies and they noticed that stars far from the galaxy centre had a
velocity similar to the celestial objects closer in. The observation was unexpected due to the visible
mass of galaxies lacking the required gravity to keep the further stars in the orbit, therefore the
astronomers were faced with a missing mass problem and the concept of dark matter had been created
(16). The main problem with dark matter is that we can t observe it directly, we must indirectly study
its interaction with normal matter to be learn more about it (17). There may be a misconception
between what is observed and what is known to be there, for example; if a man is floating mid air, due
to the fact that humans are unable to fly; it can be concluded that there must be something holding the
man up there (2). In 1997, Hubble Space Telescope revealed light from far galaxies bent due a mass of
250 times greater than the visible mass which that scientists believe dark matter is the reason for (18).
Also, NASA s Chandra X ray observatory had been used by astronomers to measure the allocation of
dark matter in an immense constellation of galaxies located around a billion light year from earth, the
cluster is engulfed by a significant amount of clouds of hot gas, from the observation it had been
found that the amount of dark matter is a hundred trillion more than the mass of the sun which held
the cluster of gravities together (17). Comprehending dark matter is an important task to understand

Naturalism In Call Of The Wild
Jack London seemed to be a socialist at heart, however, in his book Call of the Wild he writes with a
under developed naturalism perspective. Naturalism in literary terms applies two major tenants. The
first being heredity and environment are the significant forces that shape human beings. The second
tenant conveys that the author presents life exactly as it is in reality. Some writers may omit
insignificant details that slow the flow of a passage down. However, a naturalistic style will include
these details. The author writing in this style strives to be objective and detached preferring to write as
if he were observing the characters in their natural setting and then reporting what he has witnessed.

Influence Of Muscular Dystrophy
Inheritance of Muscular Dystrophy Muscular Dystrophy is a condition that affects the growth of
muscles in the body. MD effects for the most part manly males (1 in every 7,250 males) (CDC.gov).
There are two main forms of MD, one is call Duchenne MD and the other Becker MD with a lifespan
average of 30 years old. Duchenne MD is the more severe form because no dystrophin is formed,
when this happens the symptoms are shown in early childhood usually by age 5. Becker MD is not as
severe it is caused by misshapen dystrophin, when this happens symptoms are shown later in life
usually at age 10 20. Researchers identified that a gene in the X chromosome that when flawed it is
the cause of MD. Dystrophin is the gene that is needed in the X chromosome to have fully functioning
muscle development. MD is inherited in only the X chromosome so males have a 50% chance of
inheriting the condition if the mother is a carrier, but females have a very low risk because they get an
X chromosome from both mother and father. This condition is an X linked recessive pattern. If a
female inherits a mutated dystrophin gene from one of her parents, she will usually get a healthy
dystrophin gene from her other parent because the father can pass the recessive gene in the X
chromosomes. The female becomes a carrier just like her mother because the mutation is still in her
genes . A male who mother who s is a carrier has a 50% chance of inheriting the mutation and if they

The Role Of Technology In The Modern American Household
Over the past 30 years, technology has made great strides towards becoming a fundamental part of our
everyday lives; and for millions of parents and their children, it already is. The modern American
household is catered towards the technologically inclined computers, tablets, gaming systems, and
smart TVs have become commonplace in many homes. Not only do they serve their practical purpose,
but devices such as these also offer many opportunites for children and toddlers to learn, play, and
experience things they d previously been unable to. Many might challenge ideas such as this without
outdated statistics or conservative mindsets, but the truth of the matter is, the technological era has
arrived; and our children need to learn how to live in it.
With the growing population of middle class households that have access to internet and cable,
educational programming has seen a burst in activity and popularity. Families that were otherwise
unable to access educational TV and games before are now able to do so, and their children have the
opportunity to learn and play as they never have before. Increased exposure to such educational

Texture is one of the crucial primitives in human vision and texture features have been used to identify

Moreover, texture can be used to describe contents of images, such as clouds, bricks, hair, etc. Both
identifying and describing characteristics of texture are accelerated when texture is integrated with
color, hence the details of the important features of image objects for human vision can be provided.
One crucial distinction between color and texture features is that color is a point, or pixel, property,

SHAPE
Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image content.
However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3 D real
world object is projected onto a 2 D image plane, one dimension of object information is lost. As a
result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To make the
problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary distortion and
occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches have both positive
and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape representation which is
unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to find features common to
most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be extracted from an image by using
two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Contour based methods are normally used to extract the
boundary features of an object shape. Such methods completely ignore the important features inside
the boundaries. Region based image retrieval methods firstly apply segmentation

Essay on Violence and the Media
Violence and the Media
Television programming today can be a powerful influence in developing value systems and shaping
behavior (Bee, 1998: 261 262). Unfortunately, much of today s television programming is violent. For
instance, the level of violence during Saturday morning cartoons is higher than the level of violence
during prime time. There are about six to eight violent acts per hour during prime time, versus twenty
to thirty violent acts per hour on Saturday morning cartoons ( Killing Screens, 1994). Also, well
before children finish their grade school, they will witness up to 8,000 murders and 100,000 violent

For example, because young children do not understand the line between fantasy and reality, one may
find children crawling down storm drains looking for them [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] (Minow
LaMay, 1995: 33). This example clearly represents that children do not understand that their favorite
characters are only made up characters and that they do not exist in reality. However, many children
may act upon their favorite movie or film character in such way, that they will try to imitate them.
Young children instinctively imitate actions, or rather model human behavior by observation without
always possessing the intellect or maturity to determine if such actions are appropriate. For example,
in Bandura s modeling studies children expressed more aggressive behavior toward the blow up doll
called Bobo, when they observed an adult model verbally and physically attack the doll in real life, on
film, or in a cartoon (Westen, 1996: 206). Therefore, due to the televisions programs role model
capacity to promote real world violence, there is a deep concern that watching violent programs on
television will cause children to become more aggressive. As a result of viewing violent programs on
television, children may become more aggressive toward other children, use violence and

The Effects of the Video Game Industry on Japan

Sports In Sports
Introduction
The primary object of sports is, of course, exercise, but sports have a far greater impact on the
wellbeing of many besides physical health. Introducing new opportunities for youth, sports create
unbreakable bonds, build athletes characters, unite communities, and promote teamwork.
Undoubtedly, sports can positively impact many children of all ages. As children grow older and
become more athletic, parents and athletes may consider specializing in one sport to maximize the
athlete s chance of earning a scholarship for college; furthermore, almost every youth athlete, myself
included, dreams of becoming a professional athlete one day, so they will do anything to achieve that
goal. On the contrary, specializing in one sport may have the opposite effect. Depriving themselves
from diverse environments, specialized athletes are excluded from valuable lessons that are beneficial
for sports and life. Specializing in one sport today is not merely playing one season of a sport, but
specialization is intensely concentrating on one sport year round. For this reason, athletes should play
multiple sports because focusing on one sport all year does not produce the same benefits as playing
multiple sports throughout the year. Most athletes, including myself, would probably agree that they
love more than one sport, and if this is the case, then athletes should participate in every sport they
love. After all, the purpose of sports is not to earn money or to become famous but to

Men and Women in Non-Traditional Sports Essay
Men and Women in Non Traditional Sports
The benefits of an individual entering a non traditional sport for his or her sex can be huge but they
are usually greater for society in general than for the athlete him/herself. Being the first person to
break into a non traditional sport would obviously be trying on the athlete, who would have to face the
questioning and criticisms of media, fans, and even their fellow athletes. But one athlete s
determination and persistence can open up a whole new world to both athletes and spectators.
In the early 1900s, women did not participate much in figure skating competitions, partly because of
the fact that they had to wear long, movement hindering skirts. But some women did fight to ... Show

When males began to participate, the routines took on a different look more like what one would see
in a pairs figure skating or ice dancing competition. Some people feel that having both sexes
participate in the sport make it more athletic, whereas all female synchronized swimming had the
reputation of being too showy.
So clearly, the biggest benefit of individuals entering into non traditional sports for their gender occurs
when they successfully open the sport up to other people of their gender. On the other hand, however,
an individual entering a non traditional sport most likely will be forced to deal with some resistance
and some difficult issues to resolve.
For example, as we saw in the film Girl Fight, one obvious problem with the girl attempting to train to
box was the lack of resources for her. She could not share the locker room with the boys, and had to
make do with a run down storage closet instead. Another problem that is brought up when individuals
participate in non traditional sports for their sexes is about how the game is actually played. For
example, if a female were to play ice hockey on a team of boys, would she be treated as an equal in
the game? Would the boys be willing to hit and check her like they would do to the boys in the game?
Or would they be extra hard on her and take advantage of the fact that she was playing in the game to
try to score more goals? Achieving a level of total equality is a

Effects Of Sports On Sports Performance
The importance of vision in sports is a subject that triggers everyone s awareness for the past couple
years .In fact, with the increasing of people playing sports as a recreational activity or at a professional
level, it is becoming more relevant than ever to stress the type of eye injuries that can happen while
practicing a sport and the best way to protect ourselves. Whether it s basketball, football, baseball or
any type of sports human in general, is more exposed than ever to eye injuries. According to the book
sport vision care for the enhancement of sports performance sports related ocular injuries account for
33000 to 100000 of the estimated 2.4 million eye injuries that occur in the US annually (Brumitt
Erickson, p. 139). Furthermore, eye injuries are the number cause of blindness and ocular morbidity in
children (Brumitt Erickson, p. 139). Traumatic eye injury, according to the sports medical organization
sports eye injuries remain the second most common cause of visual impairment, behind only cataracts.
Moreover, every year, nearly 15 percent of the 2.5 million eye injuries in the United States occur
during sporting activities. Of these injuries, 42,000 are severe enough to warrant an emergency
department visit, and approximately 13,500 result in legal blindness (R.A., D., TS, 2012). All those
facts reunite prove that sports related ocular injuries should be a concern for everybody. This paper
will focus on the diverse type of injuries that can

Assisted Suicide Ethical Dilemmas
It is my belief that assisted suicide is completely ethical and therefore should be made legal.
Throughout the mainstream media over the last twelve months, the topic of assisted suicide, which
was once taboo, has been mentioned more times than nought. The number of people taking their lives
by assisted suicide in 2014, alone, was 792 people. This figure jumped to a whopping 1,004 the
following year in the Netherlands alone. While the state of Oregon has seen a 26% increase in assisted
suicide in the years from 2011 2015.
The topic of assisted suicide has skyrocketed so much thanks to the bestselling novel Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes and the subsequent movie that followed. This movie allowed the public to build a
stronger opinion on the ethicalness of this topic rather than just brushing it aside and announcing that
it was some ridiculous idea. Assisted suicide is a great escape for people who have no other way out
and do not have the means to end their own lives. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, in many cases, during a lucid moment for a person with Alzheimer s or dementia that they
may choose this option.
This is also a lot easier if someone has very expensive medical treatment, this would lessen the cost of
it significantly which could be a major factor for someone who would be leaving behind a large family
or one that is struggling to get by. Another advantage of assisted suicide is that if the family have more
time to prepare for the death of a loved one it makes it a lot easier to be prepared and the grief is also
easier to handle as they knew that this was coming.
This also makes it easier on the patient as they can choose the way to spend their last remaining days
in the way they see fit and gives them the full right to choose how they live and die, which is the most

Airport Environmental Impact And Legislation
Airport Environmental Impact and Legislation
Overview
Airports impact their local communities in a wide variety of ways. As an employer, large, international
airports can help local economies thrive financially with employment opportunities for area residents.
Even smaller municipal airports give back to the local community in the form of tax revenue from fuel
sales, airplane property taxes, and in the case of land lease arrangements, hangar property taxes.
Further, airports can (and typically do) impact the environment around them. Airport operators are
mandated by federal and state guidelines on areas such as erosion mitigation, pollution prevention,
and to fuel spill prevention, and are bound even further to protect the local ecology and reduce the
impact on wildlife, flora, and endangered species (Horonjeff, 2010). Airports must be prepared to
respond to any potential environmental disaster. This is accomplished through action plans developed
at the state and local levels, such as a Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Spill Prevention, Control
and Countermeasures Plans.
Environmental Impact
There are significant rules and regulations placed on airports that deal with the environment. One
widely referred to document is Federal Aviation Administration Order 5050.4B, National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Instructions for Airport Projects (DOT, 2006).
Procedures contained within this instruction are mandatory, and airport operators are legally

  • 2. Berlusconi s Struggles Essay According to Silvio Berlusconi, he is the best political leader in Europe and in the world. There can be a difference in opinion regarding that statement, but the majority of Italian voters decided Berlusconi should be elected prime minister again in 2008. He is in the midst of his third term as prime minister of Italy; inheriting many challenges from his predecessor. During his time in office, addition problems arose. An analysis of Berlusconi s government reveals three issues affecting Italy: the garbage pick up strike in Naples, immigration, and personal scandals. In the novel, Europeans feel superior to Native Americans, creating a clash between identities that does not permit coexistence. Although Hawkeye interacts with both cultures, as a man without a cross who lives with natives but remains insistently white, Hawkeye is allowed to negotiate all possible worlds by remaining either genetically or geographically detached (McIntosh Byrd 146). As the topic of tax and reform comes up, the wealthy man pleads his case and denounces the tax and welfare system that was in place solely because he did not want his riches taken from him. On the other hand, the poor man pleaded his side of the discussion, fully supporting the tax and welfare system in place, stating that the system is completely just and necessary, therefore causing a split conclusion on the principle due to differences in characteristic bias. Therefore, to solve this difference, Rawls created the notion of the veil of ignorance which gives neither the wealthy man nor the poor man prior knowledge to their financial status (or any other natural/social statuses) allowing the overall greater equality for society to be exposed. John Rawls then turns to his justice principles, arguing that the parties in the Original Position would adopt two such principles, which would structure the theoretical organization. Any way you put it it is clear to see that the First Amendment was created to keep church and state separate, and allowing prayer in our public schools is an obvious violation to the intentions of the creators of the Constitution. There is no possible way one could misinterpret the intentions of our forefathers when they wrote the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment forbids government funded religious activity. Public Schools are government funded, and prayer is a religious activity. Therefore, according to our constitution, prayer has no place in our public schools. This is not to say that a Christian child cannot pray to God, or a Muslim child cannot pray to Allah, they just cannot do so during the time spent at school or during school functions. This leaves the average elementary to high school student with a good 130 hours a week to do their worshiping, and this does not even include weekends (Education). If the amendment itself is not clear enough, maybe a little history is. No one can argue that our founders made America home in pursuit of religious freedom. This is fact. America was created when our founding fathers fled religious persecution from their own government. Since the beginning America has been a religious mosaic, blending Christians with Catholics and ... • 24. Small Government And Nonprofit Groups Vs. Small Community A large scale effort including the government would be much more effective, than a small community. You have much more people helping out when you are required to do it and when you already have committed to it. When having a community doing it, it s not like you are forced to help out, because it s a volunteering thing, so you usually don t get a bunch of people helping out. It s not that a community coming together wouldn t be any help, it just wouldn t make as much of a difference as the government would. A large scale effort would also be more effective, because they have the ability to buy supplies when needed. The government also has different positions to do different jobs, so they can get every job done. Nonprofit groups are also a really big help in the community and can make a big difference in the community. Nonprofit groups are large organizations that make a difference in our community. These groups are important, because they are valuable programs that help make an economic impact within everybody s local communities. Nonprofit groups provide a community driven way to help ensure services and programs are in place when certain people need them. These large nonprofit groups and the government have helped save and flourish many different species of many animals and plants. One example is the Brown Pelican located in Louisiana. It is also important to understand what the Toyota Production System entails and how Lean operations began. For instance, according to Stevenson, lean operation is a flexible system of operations that uses considerably fewer resources than a traditional system. For example, Lee s Transportation owned by Tony and Lisa Jones, can no longer operate due to several vehicle accidents caused by their drivers. This has resulted in an increase in their insurance premiums with All State and the premiums are too expensive for them to maintain their business. There have been many attempts to understand the world we live in, ranging from studies of objects as small in size as DNA to the study of massive objects as galaxy clusters and even the whole universe. During the 1970s, dark matter had been discovered accidentally by astronomers Vera Rubin and Kent Ford, they were observing galaxies and they noticed that stars far from the galaxy centre had a velocity similar to the celestial objects closer in. The observation was unexpected due to the visible mass of galaxies lacking the required gravity to keep the further stars in the orbit, therefore the astronomers were faced with a missing mass problem and the concept of dark matter had been created (16). The main problem with dark matter is that we can t observe it directly, we must indirectly study its interaction with normal matter to be learn more about it (17). There may be a misconception between what is observed and what is known to be there, for example; if a man is floating mid air, due to the fact that humans are unable to fly; it can be concluded that there must be something holding the man up there (2). In 1997, Hubble Space Telescope revealed light from far galaxies bent due a mass of 250 times greater than the visible mass which that scientists believe dark matter is the reason for (18). SHAPE Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image content. However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3 D real world object is projected onto a 2 D image plane, one dimension of object information is lost. As a result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To make the problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary distortion and occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches have both positive and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape representation which is unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to find features common to most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be extracted from an image by using two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Contour based methods are normally used to extract the boundary features of an object shape. Such methods completely ignore the important features inside the boundaries. Introducing new opportunities for youth, sports create unbreakable bonds, build athletes characters, unite communities, and promote teamwork. Undoubtedly, sports can positively impact many children of all ages. As children grow older and become more athletic, parents and athletes may consider specializing in one sport to maximize the athlete s chance of earning a scholarship for college; furthermore, almost every youth athlete, myself included, dreams of becoming a professional athlete one day, so they will do anything to achieve that goal. On the contrary, specializing in one sport may have the opposite effect. Depriving themselves from diverse environments, specialized athletes are excluded from valuable lessons that are beneficial for sports and life. Specializing in one sport today is not merely playing one season of a sport, but specialization is intensely concentrating on one sport year round. For this reason, athletes should play multiple sports because focusing on one sport all year does not produce the same benefits as playing multiple sports throughout the year. So clearly, the biggest benefit of individuals entering into non traditional sports for their gender occurs when they successfully open the sport up to other people of their gender. On the other hand, however, an individual entering a non traditional sport most likely will be forced to deal with some resistance and some difficult issues to resolve.
