Executive Summary
This report examines the new world of sustainability reporting, and the complex web of stakeholders.
It focuses particularly on the demands for new kinds of transparency which serve the interests of the
environment and society.

Woolworths believes their existence is directly linked to the global environment as well its
community. In carrying out its activities, Woolworths believes it must maintain respect for human
dignity, and strive towards a society where the global environment is protected. Woolworths are
committed in understanding how people feel, their fears and their needs and aligning the business s
focus into addressing those needs in order to build both loyalty from customers and effort from
employees (ICAA, 2011).
In order to be sustainable over the long term, Woolworths has made sure that their success doesn t
come at the expense of the society, economy and environment as they are a part of it (ICAA, 2011).
They believe it not only involves responsibility to understand and manage their impacts, but also gives
them an opportunity to achieve lasting and beneficial change that extends beyond their operations
(ICAA, 2011).
Corporate Stakeholders of Woolworths
Woolworths is a significant part of the Australian community and are aware that their actions and
operations do have an impact beyond their immediate interactions with customers, employees and
shareholders. A result, they are also concerned with reconciling and aligning the demands, needs,
interests, and values with suppliers, communities, the environment, and society at large (ICAA, 2011).
Woolworths has a number of programs in place to engage with stakeholders. Through these avenues

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay
Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and lows,
depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major depressive
disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar
disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric
Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II
disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the
diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been
at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite
manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an
abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along
with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep.
Pressure of speech or being extremely talkative, racing thoughts or flight of ideas, distractibility, an
increase in goal directed behavior, agitation, poor judgment and impulsive decision making are more
signs and symptoms of a manic episode. A manic episode can result in unwise and potentially
dangerous behavior. Destructive behaviors can often occur with spending money, sexual

A New Type of Film Essay
A New Type of Film
Every day we are one step closer to filmmaking being as easy as taking out the brush and oils for a
painting (Veneruso, 1998). The new technologies that have emerged in films have been the latest in a
string of inventions, to help make the film industry better. Films have become an important part of our
culutre since they started being made and shown regularly around the world. Although new
technology in films may be nothing compared with other technology, it does seem that this technology
will benefit a lot of people, and help to improve the quality of the entertainment. These new
technologies to the film industry all have important roles in the new industry. Computer generated

The 1970 s gave birth to the summer blockbuster films that appealed to the young, mass audiences.
Movies such as Jaws and Star Wars in 1975 and 1977 respectively, started the blockbuster trend.
Begin with lots of action, great music, and a ton of special effects, and you have a hit movie.
Audiences were amazed at the effects in George Lucas Star Wars and although the film looks old
fashioned by today s standards, seeing life like foreign creatures and flying ships was exciting stuff
(Howell, 2001).
The 1980 s saw cable television, direct broadcast satellite and videocassettes all offering new ways to
see films. Digital sound was introduced into theatres to draw the audiences once again. Now, special
effects have reached a whole new level. If you ve been to the movies lately, you have probably noticed
that many movies rely heavily on computer generated images (Howell, 2001). Films such as Shrek
and Final Fantasy are made from all computer generated images. Sometimes it is difficult to tell
whether characters are animated or real. Final Fantasy contains some of the most lifelike images ever
seen in film. The computer program known as HyperReal captures the tiniest human characteristics
such as hair follices and skin tone (Howell, 2001). Computer generated images have added also to the
effects in some films. Pearl Harbour used computers to

Hope in The Nineteenth Century in Europe
1.Hope During the Nineteenth Century in Europe it has been described as a time of hope and
rightfully so because of all the new ideas flowing around the continent. Ideas of a world without
monarchs and a government run by the people for the people. France showed it was possible and other
European countries attempted to follow along but what about the rest of the world. Maybe this century
was not filled with hope maybe something else. Possibly this century was filled with the sense of
European powerhouses trying to run the world. Let us go back to Europe in the Nineteenth Century
were ideas of democracy and no kings began to emerge and series of revolutions began. All of this
was a cause of the French Revolution that had just taken place at the end of the Eighteenth Century
and that event showed for one of the first times that a monarch could be over thrown and the common
people such as peasants could have a say in the government. Even though Napoleon took control of
the government in France after the revolution he still did not have the role as a king and did not
possess all the power that came with that role. So the French people still felt like it was step in the
right direction especially with new bills that protect a person s human rights. Here France is without a
king and a new government and for the first time certain rights given to a person so the government
could not control their every move. All the other European countries see this and it sparks a wildfire of

Discrepancies In Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Historical Discrepancies in Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark was a fictional film that involved Indiana Jones search for the Ark of the
Covenant and his struggle against the German Nazis. Along with the Nazis, he fought against one of
his personal enemies, Dr. Belloq. The film took place in 1936, three years before the beginning of
World War II. This movie used the Nazi search for religious artifacts and created a mission, and an
enemy, for Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark contained many historical references, but it
contained many fictional aspects as well.
The main character in Raiders of the Lost Ark was Indiana Jones. Marion Ravenwood accompanied
him on his search for the Ark of the Covenant. She was the daughter of Jones former archaeology
professor. She was angry with Indiana Jones in the beginning of the movie due to an event which
occurred before the movie began. One of the main antagonists, Dr. René Belloq, was a French
archaeologist hired by the Nazis. The other was a German Nazi named Major Arnold Toht. Arnold
Toht specialized in torturing people into revealing their secrets. ... Show more content on

The Nazis acted cruel and unemotional in the film. While this behavior coincides with history, it still
counts as bias against the Nazis. Raiders of the Lost Ark also portrayed the French as evil conspirators
with Germany using Dr. Belloq as representation for France. The French were not wicked, they merely
set different goals and saw the world in a different way than America and Britain. On the more
positive side, Raiders of the Lost Ark portrayed the Ark of the Covenant as all powerful and it burned
away the swastika on the Nazi crate. The Ark also killed everyone who watched it open because
human eyes were not meant to see its contents. It s assumed that Indiana Jones was a Christian
because he knew to look away when Belloq opened the Ark of the

Saturday Value Play Analysis
Eight games are are back in action this Saturday in the NBA. Today s slate provides a solid mix of
high scoring totals and key defensive matchups for us to target and exploit in our DFS lineups. Let s
take a look at today s value plays. Saturday Value Plays Point Guard John Wall vs NYK, $9,900: Wall
is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double doubled in six of the
past seven games. The matchup today against the Knicks is about as good as it gets, with Jose
Calderon performing as one of the worst defending point guards in the NBA. New York ranks in the
bottom five in FanDuel points allowed to opposing point guards over the past three weeks. Wall has a
great chance to earn his third straight triple double today at home. Shelvin Mack @ CHI, $6,200: Over

defenders in Kenneth Faried for rest purposes, which should be a boost to Williams fantasy upside.

win in their past 10 contests. Center Robin Lopez @ WAS, $5,600: Though he s never been the most
sexy option in the pivot, RoLo keeps coming back into DFS relevance every few weeks like a zombie

recreational equipment. Product selections ranges from tents, sleeping bags, camping packs, hiking
gear and outdoor apparel. Founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, L.L. Bean remains a privately
owned retail company. Leon Bean was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. When
he initially set up shot L.L. Bean only sold one product the duck boot. This boot was designed to be

Competitive Analysis L.L. Bean is currently in a market where there are few stores that dominate.
They face competition from companies such as Columbia, North Face, REI Timberland. In some cases
these companies may offer a wider range of products, more appealing design and higher quality.
Where L.L. Bean stands out is there in country manufacturing and Discovery School classes. Not only
are they selling outdoor gear they are offering outdoor classes as well. The way I look at it is, they
offer a product and a way to test it out at the same time so you know whether you are buying a good
quality product. But this however may still not be enough to succeed. Below I have included a list of
L.L. Bean s competitors. Columbia Columbia Sportswear may not be one of L.L. Beans strongest
competitors as they do not offer equipment but they do have a strong presence in apparel and offer a

Columbia is family owned but traded on public stock exchange. Columbia Sportswear takes pride in
manufacturing there products and has taken a stance to be environmentally friendly. Since Columbia

Leigh Syndrome Essay
The first reported case of LS occurred when Denis Archibald Leigh examined a baby boy who
displayed symptoms similar to that of Wernicke s, description of W (new source) . Before the child
passed, he exhibited child: development regression, somnolence, bulbar palsy, spasticity lims. (JNNP)
.It was only after the child had passed, that Leigh Syndrome, LS, was confirmed through a close
examination of his tissue, as there was no other effective way to confirm LS up until modern
technology began to develop. (JNNP).
Leigh Syndrome is a neurological disorder that occurs throughout the early stages of childhood
(Wiley) In infancy, symptoms may include severe vomiting and respiratory issues, as well as failure to
thrive (USEFUL). LS in infants causes death in up to 75% of those affected, by the time they are two
or three years old they experience critical organ failure (SOLACE). And as much as 25% of LS
affected people survive past their childhood which is rare but possible (SOLAC).
Symptoms of an affected person include but are not limited to ( decreasing mental and motor function
) (Useful) LS attacks the brainstem which results in the loss of ( respiratory problems, nystagmus,

Taking a Look at the Western Shoshone Nation
Traditionally the Western Shoshone Nation s ancestral land covers an area spanning from southern
California, clear through Nevada, and barely touching southern Idaho. Within this scope of land is the
previously mentioned Yucca Mountain, but also Mount Tenabo, a mountain in the Cortez Range of
Northern Nevada, which is currently subject to mining. This large area of land is know as the Great
Basin, where the habitat is dependent on the rain and snow melt water which comes off the high
mountains, feeding the creeks which keep the living, living. Mount Tenabo is one such mountain;
however it also holds a place in Shoshone creation stories, and is the site of ancient burials causing it
to be of great importance to the entire nation of the Western Shoshone. The people of the Western
Shoshone Nation still use the mountain to gather medical plants from these sacred places of their
ancestors, and hold ceremonies. In 1863 the elders of the Western Shoshone agreed to the Ruby Valley
Treaty, which recognized the Western Shoshone as the owners of the land, though allowed non native
Americans to use the land by payment of royalties to the nation. However, by the 1900s this treaty was
not respected by the Americans, and the Government took over the land, and marked it for public use.
The Western Shoshone have been pursuing legal action against the United States government for the
right govern their own land, and in 1976 a settlement of $26 million was offered to the nation. This

Puritans And Puritans Essay
The most known acts of cruelty in the power of the people are the various punishments dealt out by
the Puritans. Then you have the Quakers they weren t just men appearing on labels of oatmeal bins;
they were chosen to be on the label because the Quaker faith projected the values of honesty, integrity,
purity, and strength. However, the Puritans and Quakers both traveled to the New World to escape
religious prosecutions. John Winthrop, leading the Puritans, wanted a more purified state and society,
giving them the name, Puritans. William Penn, leading the Quakers, wanted to spread their beliefs
through themselves. They questioned leaders, resulting in leading themselves. Both had different
views of reconstructing a new society, religion, and government. Religion was important to the
Quaker and Puritans, but how far they took it made them different. Instead of fighting to purify the
Church of England, the Puritans just traveled to the New World. They settled in the Massachusetts
Bay Colony, which is Boston today. They were able to start over and do it the right way, but everyone
had to practice the bible or be punished. In their purified eyes, the Church back in England was
embracing too many Catholic beliefs. Puritans had zero tolerance and took religion very seriously,
making them a theocracy after leaving that in the first place. They were led by John Winthrop. On the
other hand, the Quakers were known as the friends. They believed everyone had their own inner light

Vygotsky´s Zone Proximal Development Essay
Vygotsky has had a profound impact on developmental psychology. One of his main contributions was
the idea of zone proximal development. He places emphasis the shaping of cognitive development. He
is one of the first in children development that emphasized on cultural context. I have chosen his
theory and what it entails for this paper because its very interesting and some certain parts of his
theory like scaffolding and the zone proximal development were relatable to my experience at my
field site. This theorist believed that our minds, cognition, and psychological abilities could be

They get a chance to interact with other students and children. Children make friends and can start to
develop social relationships. Students can get the attention they need that they don t get at home or

students to be. Social environments do have an effect on them. It can be positive or negative, so it s
important that where they decide to be is going to have an optimistic and profound effect on children.
As a service learner, I learned that by just being around and being there with them weekly is giving
them a positive social environment that they might not get at home or the neighborhood they reside.
Also the afterschool program allows them to keep friendships and permit them to flourish. The Zone
of Proximal Development (ZPD) another part of Vygotsky theory is applied a lot in classrooms by
teachers. By definition it is the difference between what a learner can do without help and what he or
she can do with help. Apart of that is a concept called scaffolding, which helps us understand how
aiming coaching within a students/child s ZPD can stimulate and increase knowledge and

Book Of Tolls Essay
The Book of Kells is one of the most beautiful and mysterious surviving medieval manuscripts, and it
is prominent for its extreme decoration. It comprises of four Gospels in Latin created on vellum in a
bold, as well as, professional version of the writing referred to as the Insular majuscule that St. Jerome
completed in 348 AD. 1 The manuscript is intermixed with readings from the from the earlier Old
Latin translation. The book contains 340 folios currently measuring approximately 330 x 255 mm that
was trimmed and the edges and gilded in the course of rebinding in the 19th century. The habitation of

The art of the Book of Kells is a complicated synthesis of Christian iconography, derived from the
Mediterranean world, and the northern European predilection for brilliant colour and abstract pattern.
In the religious scenes, abstract values dominate at the expense of naturalism, imbuing the images
with a detached, visionary quality. The bulk of the painting, however, appears to be as much
decorative as religious in content. The book has a broad palette of colors with purple, lilac, red, pink,
green, as well as, yellow being the colors greatest frequently used in the writing. The lavish
illumination of the program of the book is far better than any other enduring insular gospel book.
There are ten persisting full page illuminations including two evangelist pictures, three pages with the
four evangelist symbols, a carpet page, a minuscule of the Virgin Child, a minuscule of Christ
enthroned, a minuscule of the Arrest of Jesus, and the Temptation of Christ. There are thirteen existing
full pages of decorated text including pages for the first few words of each of the Gospels. 9 There are

First, I would recommend decreasing the amount of sodium and saturated fat in his diet. The client
should be conscious of what is in his food and educate himself on portion sizes.
The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (2005) explains how important it is to reduce the
amount of added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium to prevent weight gain or health problems such as
hypertension, heart failure, high cholesterol or diabetes (HHS, 2005, para. 3 12).
In addition, I would also recommend increasing whole foods in his diet. Eating healthy snacks such as
apples or oatmeal could help reach his calorie limit as well as decrease hunger throughout the day.
There are also many benefits to whole foods. Rui Liu (2003) explains that consumption of whole
foods is strongly associated with reduced risk of chronic diseases (para.10).
Finally, I would recommend increasing his daily intake of water and avoiding sugary drinks such as

Truss Construction Shop Incident
Introduction
Injuries from equipment in the workplace can lead to a tense work environment in the aftermath. It is
important for a company to know that employees can rely on equipment and be comfortable in their
jobs. This critical thinking paper will entail an analysis of an incident on the job at Truss Construction
Shop. The paper will include: identifying the problem, analyzing the information, considering other
viewpoints, and developing well reasoned conclusions.
EXPLANATION
Two weeks ago, there was an incident at Truss Construction Shop. A hoist operator was placed into an
induced coma due to a large part of a Truss breaking apart during a QA Truss load test. The Truss
broke apart because the testing was pushed beyond the threshold. This incident made the employees
worry that the trusses would fail underloaded. The sales department is concerned about customers
cancelling orders because of delays in shipping. A cancelled order creates an unsatisfactory customer,
which can affect sales tremendously. Another issue arising from the event is that a worker named
Faruch Habib leaked the details of the incident and the testing outcomes of the QA Truss load ... Show

procedures regarding employee safety at work. Since employees have been curious about
disadvantages in the manufacturing and engineering process, this is one way to increase worker
morale. Worker s morale can increase by employees feeling safe and understanding how or why the

The Piano Play Analysis
The piano music becomes rapidly more passionate, and then breaks off suddenly in mid phrase
(Stoppard, 85). Immediately before this quote, Stoppard writes that there are now four hands present
on the piano, rather than the usual two hands. The music became more intense over time, because the
plot in the play is currently uprising to a main event. Thomasina mentions how her mother, Lady
Croom, is in love with Count Zelinsky, who happens to be the man playing the piano. After
Thomasina confesses this unknown statement, there are suddenly four hands on the piano, hinting at
the readers that both Count and Lady Croom are now playing the piano. Love can be a powerful thing
and the piano enhances this message by suddenly becoming more intense. Within the play, the
background noise is critical when understanding the meaning of Arcadia. The main source of noise in
this play is the piano. The piano plays a crucial role in both the past and present tense of the play. In
the past, the piano is used when talked about waltzing because music and dancing go hand and hand
together. Also, the piano resembled carnal embrace or otherwise known as sex in the past tense. On
the other side, in the present tense the piano serves as a distraction. When the tempo of the piano is
drastically changed, the characters seem to notice it more and comment more frequently on it than
before. Whether it is in the past or present, noise changes the audience s mood throughout the play and
pushes them towards

Erving Goffman
There are two different concepts of the self. One is from theorist George Mead and the other is from
Erving Goffman. There are similarities and differences between the two concepts. Each theorist views
the function of the self in society. First off, George Mead s self is defined as the ability to take oneself
as an object (Ritzer and Stepnisky, 2013, p. 60).While Erving Goffman s self is defined as a sense of
who one is that is a dramatic effect emerging from the immediate dramaturgical scene being presented
(Ritzer and Stepnisky, 2013, p. 144). This is the first difference between the two. The theorists have
different ways of defining self. In Mead s self, he believed that the self emerged as a child through two

Essential Question #1 What does the experience of the blind in the quarantine tell us about modern
government? The Experience in the quarantine is a critic on the different forms of government in the
modern world. At first look there is a stark contrast between the two regimes in parts 8 11 of the novel.
At first there is the doctor s regime , which is democratic but ultimately inefficient as the attendees
must waste time by making decisions diplomatically. But as seen in part 8, as more and more of the

she was the one who had to go through these obstacles with them only she could visibly see what they

heavily on her shoulders knowing their lives were in her hands. The doctor s wife is also extremely
happy that she can care for the blind less and less as the ward members continue to get their sight back
and the fact that her and her husband will no longer have to live in the filth of the ward. I believe the
wife had many moments of doubt when it came to taking care of the group because it would take a lot
of responsibility for just one person. I think from this, you can get glimpses of her character and
personality. From the beginning we see that she just couldn t leave her husband and wanted to stay
which led to her lying to the doctors and telling them that she was indeed blind

there? Leaving them in those conditions to die would be unthinkable when there was still a glimpse of
hope out there. The doctor s wife feels as if since she has been given this gift (or arguably, burden) of

Gallipoli Movie Propaganda
The film Gallipoli by Peter Weir, is a fantastic historical representation of the British military
campaign against Turkish positions on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915. The film starts out in Western
Australia, 1915. Archie is young man who is introduced in the first scene, is a talented sprinted who is
very passionate about the war. Young men living in this time period all aspired to go to war to help
fight for their country and gain honor from their families. Archie saw it as an opportunity to go travel
the world as his uncle had. There were many reasons for the young men to sign up, for some it was the
fear of humiliation, others the excitement of a new job with better pay, even just being able to wear the
uniform to impress women. Throughout the film the patriotic feeling depicted in the film was very
encouraging, telling everyone to sign up to support their country. However not everyone is in support
of the war. One scene is with Frank one of Archie s friends who is also a fellow sprinter. Frank goes
on to question the reason he is even fighting in the war knowing that it is an English war. This was a ...

Analysis Of Roy Lichtenstein s Bedroom At Arles
Art is an evolving subject that changes with time and ideas. Inspired by their earlier compatriots, some
artists produce new artworks by enhancing the existing ones. Roy Lichtenstein became such an artist
when he created a new version of the Bedroom at Arles painting after being inspired by the Bedroom
at Arles artwork that was made by Vincent Van Gogh. Having received little recognition during his
lifetime, Van Gogh s popularity as a great painter and artist grew immensely after his death in 1890.
He was a post impressionist writer from Netherlands whose paintings gave rise to modern art. Gogh s
painting, Bedroom in Arles was created in October 1888 and is an expression of his own life. In
addition to this painting, Van Gogh produced about 2,100 pieces of art out of which 860 were oil
paintings. On the other hand, Roy Fox Lichtenstein was a modern artist who was instrumental in the
20th century art movement. His primary style was the use of parody to define pop art. Most of
Lichtenstein s work was influenced by the comic book style and popular advertising. Consequently,
He was often referred to as a pop artist. Lichtenstein s Bedroom at Arles is based on the original
painting by Van Gogh, and it was made in 1992. This is the only painting of an interior that was made
by Lichtenstein, and it depicts the contemporary appearance of a bedroom in the afternoon.
The two paintings by Lichtenstein and Vincent Van Gogh have certain specific similarities. Firstly, the

Compare And Contrast College Football And Pro Football
Many of the fans think college football is better than pro football, but I think this is not true. Each of
the programs have differences and we should respect this, but they also have similarities as well. They
also have rules which the players have to follow. Although the penalties are severe, the nfl and college
football, have the same rules which many of the players think are fair. Also, many of the players
respect the history behind it and encourage other players to do the same.
Many of the rules which are the same are significant and should be followed by both the pro football
players and the college players. Holding penalties for the defence are both ten yards from the last dead

When a team and another team tie the game, they have what is called overtime. In this period, the first
team who scores a touchdown before the other team does, wins the game. Both teams have three
timeouts, and has a chance to touch the football and try to score a touchdown. This situation is led off
of a coin flip which decides what team gets the football first.
There are some similarities about the stadiums which host the team who is playing another(away)
team. Most stadiums have a hall of fame or a historic piece of history which stands today. Many of
these stadiums are very expensive and many are asking why they have the stadiums in the first place.
The length of each football field are one hundred yards and have two end zones, which you get points
when one person walks or runs into it.
Next, is the differences. One of the differences is about the rules. One of the rules is when the players
take drugs when the doctor did not prescribe it to them, it is an offence. The penalty for college is ban
for more than three games, and for pro football, it is four or more games. Many of the pro football
players get paid and the college football players do not get paid at all, because they are in school and
they can t do anything to get paid for just playing

Review Of Ayn Rand s Anthem
Anthem: A Review Anthem written by Ayn Rand is a novella about Equality 7 2521 and the dystopian
society he lives in. Everything is decided by a World Council and doing anything that makes you stand
out is classified as crime, your individuality is seen as a great evil. It is a warning of how putting
others in front of yourself is a great evil. So, after all 105 pages, how good was Anthem exactly? Plot
(6/10): The plot of Anthem is quite simple, almost everything you have seen in a dystopian novel is
also portrayed in Anthem. What is unique about Anthem however, is how the plot is given to you.
Pronouns in Anthem are quite unique, replacing words like I or me to those that refer to the group ( we
or our ). This little change causes the story feel more unsettling, as it gives the reader a sense that no

A Good Example Of Mr. Johnson s First Amendment Rights
In the year 1984 1989 there was a case that struck America and shows a very good example to having
your first amendment rights, not everyone will necessarily agree with this but this is how Mr. Johnson
took his actions against the supreme court. This case is based on Mr. Johnson feeling violated against
his first amendment right and standing up for himself and burning the American flag. Many patriotic
people would completely disagree with this but, in our first amendment we have the freedom of
speech and freedom of expression. Leading Mr. Johnson to this case because the American flag is
supposed to represent our country and our freedom. Gregory Lee Johnson burned an American flag
outside of the convention center where the 1984 Republican National Convention was being held in
Dallas, Texas. Johnson burned the flag to protest the policies of President Ronald Reagan. He was
arrested and charged with violating a Texas statute that prevented the desecration of a venerated
object, including the American flag, if such action were likely to incite anger in others. A Texas court
tried and convicted Johnson. He appealed, arguing that his actions were symbolic speech protected by
the First Amendment. Based off this case with this evidence this shows how much this could affect
Mr. Johnson and the public significantly. Mr. Johnson born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Drug Abuse ( Polysubstance ) Essay
On the 10/05/2016, I took care of a 29 year old female who has been on admission since 09/24/2016.
EMS found her in a ditch intubated her (ETT), mechanical ventilated, and brought her to the hospital.
The patient informed me that police tried to stop her and her boyfriend but her boyfriend refused to
stop, so she decided to jump out of a moving vehicle. Later she informed me that her boyfriend is in
jail. However, her story about her incident is unclear. Her admission record shows that she started
drugs at the age of 12. In addition, she is homeless, and her mom died when she was very young.
Furthermore, her past medical and surgical histories are type 1 diabetes, ADHD, depression, anxiety,
history of MRSA, TB ( latent TB per history from patient s mother), history of drug abuse(
polysubstance abuse) and hysterectomy. She has no known allergies. The following list of her home
medications are Seroquel, Neurontin, Celexa, Remeron, Ativan, Klonipin, and Xanax. Patient was
placed on contact isolation because of MRSA TB.
The admitting diagnosis is rib fracture, lung contusion, sternum fracture, femur fracture, right occipital
condyle fracture, spine fractures, pelvic fractures, and right hand fractures. Due to her multiple
orthopedic injuries, she was placed on morphine Dilaudid for pain relief because she rated her pain 7

An Evaluation Of A Uk Public Limited Manufacturing Company
Introduction
This report is an evaluation provided to a finance director of a UK public limited manufacturing
company, whose subsidiaries are around the world. The company s stock is trading on the London
Stock Exchange. The report is going to provide some information about working capital management
(WCM).
It is commonly known that working capital investment has become a large proportion in a firm s
balance sheet. According to Bank of Belgium, the proportion of accounts receivable, payment and
inventory were respectively 17%, 13% and 10% of total assets of all Belgian nonfinancial firms in
1997 (Deloof, 2003). There is a similar situation in Spanish firms: there is 69% current assets of total
assets and 52% current liabilities of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, firms may lose the early payment discount offered by its suppliers, which may
result in more finance costs (Wong, 2002).
Trade receivable: Trade receivable may boost sales because it allows customers to access product s
quality before paying. The flip side of trade receivable is that capital would be locked in working
capital, as a result the company s financial department may face cash flow and liquidity problems
(Jose, Lancaster and Stevens, 1996; Lazaridis and Tryfonidis, 2006).
Inventory: A larger inventory reduces the risk of stock out and it is also a vehicle to increase sales. The
negative side of inventory is the same as trade receivable (Nazir and Afza, 2009; Deloof, 2003).
Lazaridis and Tryfonidis (2006) states that an optimum level of inventory will have a direct effect on
profitability since it will release cash invested in working capital and could also respond to a high
demand.
The measurement of WC
Cash conversion cycle (CCC) is a widely used WC measurement, which is the time lag between the
raw material purchase and the collection of finished goods. The CCC can be calculated as: The cash
conversion cycle = Number of days accounts receivable + Number of days inventory Number of days
accounts payable payments. In real business operations, CCC as whole and each parts of CCC could
be used to measure the efficiency of WCM (Deloof, 2003; García Teruel and Martínez Solano, 2007;

My Philosophy Of My Personal Philosophy In The Classroom
All students are unique individuals, who have their own way of learning. Some students, might find it
easier to learn from hands on work rather than reading materials. Others, may be capable of learning
with just reading content. Since every student learns differently, I believe there isn t just one
philosophical way of how students should be taught. I would incorporate a couple different
philosophies and teaching mechanisms into my classroom. I also believe that the environment a child
is in impacts the way they learn. Students should have a set of rules to follow, but also be able to
express what they think and feel just as well. My personal philosophy is that there are numerous ways
to teach children the materials they need to know. Pragmatism is one philosophical theory I will

certain things. In a workplace you have a schedule to follow. I believe implementing certain rules
early in life gives the opportunity for success and good work ethic. Number two will be to complete
all tasks in a timely manner. This sets them up for a good work ethic also. If all tasks are completed on

Chesapeake Bay Persuasive Essay
With a decrease in algae population, the grasses of the bay will be fed on by zooplankton, oysters, and

Zooplankton, oysters, and fish will no longer eat the algae, they would resort to the Bay grasses. The
effects then go onto the plants and animals living here. (Science Daily) Since the algae population
decreases, so does the algae bloom, which sink to the bottom and decompose to create oxygen many
underwater animals need. Some blooms also produce toxins, which can harm or kill the fish, harm
animals that drink the water, and cause problems for humans as well. With a decrease in algae blooms,

Treatment of Religion and the Church in Pedro Paramo and...
Christianity has become, in over two millennia, the world s largest religion, spreading to almost every
corner of the world. Based on this fact, it does not come as much of a surprise that Juan Rulfo s 1955
Mexican novel, Pedro Paramo, and Robertson Davies 1970 Canadian one, Fifth Business, are both
largely affected by this pervasive religion. What is interesting, however, is that despite the vast
differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment of Christianity and
the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions.
The first major similarity in the books on this particular subject is that both Rulfo and Davies show
Christianity and the church as being flawed. Father Renteria, the local ... Show more content on

One of the major faults that Rulfo portrays of the Church in Pedro Paramo, is that it fails in its main
responsibility of providing moral standards to the people of Comala. The novel illustrates characters
that have sinned more than any other, yet show little or no guilt. Rulfo s book contains a careful listing
of the cruelties that the Paramos inflicted on the people of Comala: Rumor has it that your brother was
murdered by [Miguel Paramo] and you believe that your niece Ana was raped by him. 6, Pedro
Paramo slaughtered so many folks after his father was murdered that he killed nearly everybody who
attended that wedding. 7 However, despite these crimes, neither Miguel nor Pedro seems to feel any
remorse for their actions. After listening to a number of women confess to having sinned for either
sleeping with Pedro Paramo, or bearing his children, Father Renteria says, I kept waiting for him to
come and confess something, but he never did. 8 Renteria also refuses to absolve Miguel at first,
saying, [he] died without forgiveness. 9

Inter Ethnic Conflict And Ethnic Conflicts
Topic
Underlying Causes of Inter Ethnic Conflict in Samburu County, Kenya
Background
Inter ethnic conflict is one of the major problems facing most Kenya community and mostly the
nomadic communities. Inter ethnic conflicts involving pastoralists have become widespread and
increasingly severe in the northern region of Kenya. Conflict has often resulted in severe disruption of
social and economic development. It has also constrained efforts to reduce or end poverty and sustain
basic human rights. There has been a recurrence of violence where peace agreements have been sealed
and an escalation of violence where conflicts have hitherto been latent.
Several facts have been advanced to explain the main causes of inter ethnic conflicts between most
nomadic tribes. Most of these issues revolve around livestock ownership and to get access to scarce
natural resources such as water. Although the pastoral conflicts have deep roots in history, culture and
are generally attributed to their retrogressive and outdated practices, there is more to their current
nature and dynamics. In recent years it is mainly due to the proliferation of modern small arms,
banditry and predation, commercialization of livestock raiding, dispute over land tenure rights.
According to many authors, the cattle raiding which is a cultural practice has become a widespread,
sophisticated, more violent, and destructive among pastoral communities in northern Kenya (Kumssa,

Aside from the entertainment value, newspapers exist for the main purpose of bringing news of

nations talking only as far as word of mouth could reach. Lack of a national medium of information is
an obvious problem in any democracy.
Today, Newspapers are at the lowest circulation in seven decades. Numbers do not lie, newspapers are

Transmission Replacement Research Paper
The short answer to this is no, almost certainly not. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that a
busted transmission will inevitably be expensive, regardless of how you decide to handle it.
Transmissions are complicated but essential. Repairing or replacing one is always pricey, buying a
new car would be expensive as well but just because your transmission is damaged doesn t mean you
should discard the entire car. The situation may not be as bad as you think.
On average, replacing a car s transmission can range from $1800 to $3500, which makes it one of the
most expensive things your car could possible require. However, it s still probably cheaper than an
entirely new car. If your price estimate for a transmission replacement falls on the upper end of that
scale, it s either because you drive a high end car, or you need a total rebuild following a massive
mechanical breakdown. If neither of those situations applies to you, the cost to replace your
transmission will likely be on the lower end of the scale, which makes buying a replacement a more
sound financial decision than buying a new car. If you drive a car with a manual transmission, you
may be able to fix the problem by replacing your clutch, which will probably cost you $1000 to
$1500. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hope, Despair, And Memory By JD Salinger
Literary Analysis Task The value of memory is an important aspect in a person s life because most of
the time our brains will go back into our memory and recall past events weather them being good or
bad. Memory plays a part in every human being s life, whether it may be about a great loss of
someone you loved dearly or it be a great gift like having a child or a miracle happen like getting a
perfect score on your SATs. Memory will always be an aspect in everyone s life. In the passage, Hope,
Despair, and Memory by Elie Wiesel, and in the excerpt from The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger
the value of memory are treated in both worthy and harmful ways using diction, repetition, and theme.
For example, in the excerpt from The Catcher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, in the passage from Hope, Despair, and Memory , the diction in this goes both
ways. For the first time in history, we could not bury our dead. We bear their graves within ourselves.
Diction is shown in that quote in a negative way because Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor witnessed
people that he loved and people that he didn t even know die. All those innocent people weren t buried
the right way, and they died with horror in their eyes knowing that they would most likely die. This
tragedy was carried on everyone s back. Elie Wiesel wrote this to show that because of the Holocaust,
those people that died didn t die in peace, and all their loved ones now have to carry that with them.
Also, diction and repetition comes into play in Elie Wiesel s passage because he tends to use the words
memory and forget . He uses the word memory five times and the word forget four times in a negative
way because he writes, Indeed this was another universe. Forget where you came from; forget who
you were. Elie Wiesel wrote this to show that the people in the concentration camps would mentally
survive better if they just forgot who they were. They wouldn t have to feel the pain from

Abstract
Gender Marketing is not about male versus female. It is about understanding your customer and his
profile thoroughly. Marketers generally adopt the approach of neutral marketing to play safe; by and
large both men and women feel that they have not been targeted by the marketers properly. The
marketers should continuously strive for competitiveness and take benefits from the ever changing
environment which can be facilitated by the realization of the concept of gender marketing. In this
article I will discuss about the changing role of women today and how it has an impact in marketing of
products like online selling, car purchase, garment purchase and food drinks.

Like the way we just saw that 60% of the online purchasers are women, Similarly with changing

the forte of only women. Today men are becoming increasingly brand conscious and trend savvy. Now
let us try to identify the key drivers that influence the decision making process for garment purchase
which is different for men and women. Sears conducted a research and concluded that for men, the
sole purpose while buying clothing is to see that it fits properly. Whereas in case of females there is a
big list of factors considered while purchasing clothing which includes it should fit properly overall
specially from the waist region, the color should match the color of the skin and the neckline should

phonological short term and phonological working memory deficits? Child Language Teaching and
Therapy,33(1), 33 46. doi:10.1177/0265659016654955
Background
Phonological delay is a label given to those individuals who have speech sound error patterns that are
usually normal for younger children, but the individuals with the delay have not yet mastered these
phonological processes (Waring, Eadie, Liow, Dodd, 2016).
Pre school aged children include children ages 3 to 5 years old (Waring, Eadie, Liow, Dodd, 2016).
Short term memory is the process of information temporarily being stored in the brain (Waring, Eadie,
Liow, Dodd, 2016).

Article Review This article discusses the differences between working memory and short term
memory in children who have either a phonological delay or typically developing speech. It aims at
discovering whether there is any other language or cognitive aspects that are involved in phonological
errors in children with phonological delay and the differences between phonological working memory
and phonological short term memory. This was measured using various memory tasks and measuring
each child s receptive vocabulary size (Waring, Eadie, Liow, Dodd, 2016).
The subjects of this study are children that solely speak English and have typically developing speech
and language skills and children that speak only English and have a phonological delay. These

Canadian Cattle Identification Program Essay
The Canadian Cattle Identification Program exists to track beef cattle from birth to slaughter. This way
cattle can be tracked through an approved radio frequency tag in the case of a serious outbreak of
disease. Having beef cattle that are trackable through ear tags ensures that beef will be of high quality,
and the number of beef cattle are regulated. The cattle identification program radio tags were
implanted due to an outbreak of mad cow disease in 2001, the radio tags operate as a way to track
back to a source of a disease outbreak; therefore, beef can ensured to be of high quality by managing
disease issues in beef cattle. The Canadian Cattle Identification Program for beef cattle was originally
implemented due to the mad cow crisis in 2001. These tags gave the industry a way to track diseases
back to their source. Even though the program began in 2001 it was not fully enforced with penalty for
not complying until July 2002 (1). Tags are to be applied to the calf/steer before leaving the ... Show

Each radio tag has a unique number, or barcode that corresponds to a steer s records over their
lifespan, which are kept in a database (2). Each time a steer has a procedure by the farmer, or a
veterinarian done it will be recorded into the database to maintain the history of that particle steer.
Having a database allows the inspection agency to obtain history if needed after the cow has been
slaughter, and if that steer is relocated in its life time then then it should be tagged before leaving its
original farm. The new farmer may need to retag cow for their farm because it may have lost its
previous tag in transit then the steer s history must be put back in the database up to date, if known, for
reference after slaughter. The identification number is passed on to the carcass after the animal is

Egypt ABSTRACT
Rice is one of the most important food crops for more than half of the world s population, the rice
weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a major pest of stored rice in Egypt. The
use of nanoparticles as pesticide could be promising alternative strategy to affect pests which have
become resistant to pesticides. Two nano materials nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide were
tested against rice weevil under laboratory and store conditions. Nano aluminum oxide was found to
be highly effective against S. oryzae, while nano zinc oxide has lowered effectiveness against the
weevil.
Results showed that mortality percentage of S. oryzae were 65.34 ± 8.9 and
58.58 ± 8.3 after treatment with 0.5 gm / kg, 100.00± 9.6 and 81.81 ± 4.2 with
1 gm / kg. The mortality scored with 2 gm / kg 100.0 ± 0.0 and 80.80 ± 2.3 after 14 days of treatment
with nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide, respectively as compared to 0.0 ± 0.0 in the control
and 59.4 ± 3.2 with

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and lows, depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major depressive disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep. Pressure of speech or being extremely talkative, racing thoughts or flight of ideas, distractibility, an increase in goal directed behavior, agitation, poor judgment and impulsive decision making are more signs and symptoms of a manic episode. The new technologies that have emerged in films have been the latest in a string of inventions, to help make the film industry better. Films have become an important part of our culutre since they started being made and shown regularly around the world. Audiences were amazed at the effects in George Lucas Star Wars and although the film looks old fashioned by today s standards, seeing life like foreign creatures and flying ships was exciting stuff (Howell, 2001). The 1980 s saw cable television, direct broadcast satellite and videocassettes all offering new ways to see films. Digital sound was introduced into theatres to draw the audiences once again. Now, special effects have reached a whole new level. If you ve been to the movies lately, you have probably noticed that many movies rely heavily on computer generated images (Howell, 2001). Films such as Shrek and Final Fantasy are made from all computer generated images. Sometimes it is difficult to tell whether characters are animated or real. Final Fantasy contains some of the most lifelike images ever seen in film. The computer program known as HyperReal captures the tiniest human characteristics such as hair follices and skin tone (Howell, 2001). • 6. Hope in The Nineteenth Century in Europe 1.Hope During the Nineteenth Century in Europe it has been described as a time of hope and rightfully so because of all the new ideas flowing around the continent. Ideas of a world without monarchs and a government run by the people for the people. France showed it was possible and other European countries attempted to follow along but what about the rest of the world. Maybe this century was not filled with hope maybe something else. Possibly this century was filled with the sense of European powerhouses trying to run the world. Let us go back to Europe in the Nineteenth Century were ideas of democracy and no kings began to emerge and series of revolutions began. All of this was a cause of the French Revolution that had just taken place at the end of the Eighteenth Century and that event showed for one of the first times that a monarch could be over thrown and the common people such as peasants could have a say in the government. Even though Napoleon took control of the government in France after the revolution he still did not have the role as a king and did not possess all the power that came with that role. So the French people still felt like it was step in the right direction especially with new bills that protect a person s human rights. Here France is without a king and a new government and for the first time certain rights given to a person so the government could not control their every move. All the other European countries see this and it sparks a wildfire of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Discrepancies In Raiders Of The Lost Ark Historical Discrepancies in Raiders of the Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark was a fictional film that involved Indiana Jones search for the Ark of the Covenant and his struggle against the German Nazis. Along with the Nazis, he fought against one of his personal enemies, Dr. Belloq. The film took place in 1936, three years before the beginning of World War II. This movie used the Nazi search for religious artifacts and created a mission, and an enemy, for Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark contained many historical references, but it contained many fictional aspects as well. The main character in Raiders of the Lost Ark was Indiana Jones. Marion Ravenwood accompanied him on his search for the Ark of the Covenant. She was the daughter of Jones former archaeology professor. She was angry with Indiana Jones in the beginning of the movie due to an event which occurred before the movie began. • 12. Puritans And Puritans Essay The most known acts of cruelty in the power of the people are the various punishments dealt out by the Puritans. Then you have the Quakers they weren t just men appearing on labels of oatmeal bins; they were chosen to be on the label because the Quaker faith projected the values of honesty, integrity, purity, and strength. However, the Puritans and Quakers both traveled to the New World to escape religious prosecutions. John Winthrop, leading the Puritans, wanted a more purified state and society, giving them the name, Puritans. William Penn, leading the Quakers, wanted to spread their beliefs through themselves. They questioned leaders, resulting in leading themselves. Both had different views of reconstructing a new society, religion, and government. Religion was important to the Quaker and Puritans, but how far they took it made them different. Instead of fighting to purify the Church of England, the Puritans just traveled to the New World. They settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which is Boston today. They were able to start over and do it the right way, but everyone had to practice the bible or be punished. In their purified eyes, the Church back in England was embracing too many Catholic beliefs. The bulk of the painting, however, appears to be as much decorative as religious in content. • 17. The Piano Play Analysis The piano music becomes rapidly more passionate, and then breaks off suddenly in mid phrase (Stoppard, 85). Immediately before this quote, Stoppard writes that there are now four hands present on the piano, rather than the usual two hands. The music became more intense over time, because the plot in the play is currently uprising to a main event. Thomasina mentions how her mother, Lady Croom, is in love with Count Zelinsky, who happens to be the man playing the piano. After Thomasina confesses this unknown statement, there are suddenly four hands on the piano, hinting at the readers that both Count and Lady Croom are now playing the piano. Love can be a powerful thing and the piano enhances this message by suddenly becoming more intense. Within the play, the background noise is critical when understanding the meaning of Arcadia. The main source of noise in this play is the piano. The piano plays a crucial role in both the past and present tense of the play. In the past, the piano is used when talked about waltzing because music and dancing go hand and hand together. Also, the piano resembled carnal embrace or otherwise known as sex in the past tense. On the other side, in the present tense the piano serves as a distraction. Inspired by their earlier compatriots, some artists produce new artworks by enhancing the existing ones. Roy Lichtenstein became such an artist when he created a new version of the Bedroom at Arles painting after being inspired by the Bedroom at Arles artwork that was made by Vincent Van Gogh. Having received little recognition during his lifetime, Van Gogh s popularity as a great painter and artist grew immensely after his death in 1890. He was a post impressionist writer from Netherlands whose paintings gave rise to modern art. Gogh s painting, Bedroom in Arles was created in October 1888 and is an expression of his own life. In addition to this painting, Van Gogh produced about 2,100 pieces of art out of which 860 were oil paintings. On the other hand, Roy Fox Lichtenstein was a modern artist who was instrumental in the 20th century art movement. His primary style was the use of parody to define pop art. Most of Lichtenstein s work was influenced by the comic book style and popular advertising. Consequently, He was often referred to as a pop artist. Lichtenstein s Bedroom at Arles is based on the original painting by Van Gogh, and it was made in 1992. This is the only painting of an interior that was made by Lichtenstein, and it depicts the contemporary appearance of a bedroom in the afternoon. This case is based on Mr. Johnson feeling violated against his first amendment right and standing up for himself and burning the American flag. Many patriotic people would completely disagree with this but, in our first amendment we have the freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Leading Mr. Johnson to this case because the American flag is supposed to represent our country and our freedom. Gregory Lee Johnson burned an American flag outside of the convention center where the 1984 Republican National Convention was being held in Dallas, Texas. On the other hand, firms may lose the early payment discount offered by its suppliers, which may result in more finance costs (Wong, 2002). Trade receivable: Trade receivable may boost sales because it allows customers to access product s quality before paying. The flip side of trade receivable is that capital would be locked in working capital, as a result the company s financial department may face cash flow and liquidity problems (Jose, Lancaster and Stevens, 1996; Lazaridis and Tryfonidis, 2006). Inventory: A larger inventory reduces the risk of stock out and it is also a vehicle to increase sales. The negative side of inventory is the same as trade receivable (Nazir and Afza, 2009; Deloof, 2003). Lazaridis and Tryfonidis (2006) states that an optimum level of inventory will have a direct effect on profitability since it will release cash invested in working capital and could also respond to a high demand. What is interesting, however, is that despite the vast differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment of Christianity and the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions. Inter Ethnic Conflict And Ethnic Conflicts Topic Underlying Causes of Inter Ethnic Conflict in Samburu County, Kenya Background Inter ethnic conflict is one of the major problems facing most Kenya community and mostly the nomadic communities. In recent years it is mainly due to the proliferation of modern small arms, banditry and predation, commercialization of livestock raiding, dispute over land tenure rights. If your price estimate for a transmission replacement falls on the upper end of that scale, it s either because you drive a high end car, or you need a total rebuild following a massive mechanical breakdown. • 40. Hr Essay I want to start by addressing the topic of productivity. John Muir claims one of the reasons for my termination was due to a significant lack of productivity, yet doesn t have evidence to support that claim. It s impossible to falsify productivity due to weekly audits conducted by supervisors, which I review and sign. Enclosed are my productivity records submitted by Ann Marie Hartmann which proves the information on the termination letter was altered and fabricated to intentionally misrepresent the amount of work I completed. In addition to weekly audits, the Epic program John Muir uses for patient charting, records (with a time stamp) everything I do within the account. Interruptions depended on things like how many patients put valuables in the safe, or how many employees collected payments that day, or if patients came in with billing questions, or whether the gift shop and cafeteria needed change or needed to make deposits, and so forth. Secondly, I would like to discuss the issue of accessing work from home. John Muir has record of a work ticket and documentation showing that IT installed the program on my home computer which granted me access. At no point was I ever told not to access work from home or talked to regarding my access from home. In fact, the opposite was true. When IT installed the program on my home computer around the beginning of March, IT stated this was the new system where all employees were going to be required to use in order to access John Muir s system from home. Employees access John Muir s system for multiple reasons such as, paystubs, W 2 forms, email, learning points, and so on. IT stated I could access Epic (patient charting) and many employees have already started using this program. • 41. Hope, Despair, And Memory By JD Salinger Literary Analysis Task The value of memory is an important aspect in a person s life because most of the time our brains will go back into our memory and recall past events weather them being good or bad. Memory plays a part in every human being s life, whether it may be about a great loss of someone you loved dearly or it be a great gift like having a child or a miracle happen like getting a perfect score on your SATs. Memory will always be an aspect in everyone s life. In the passage, Hope, Despair, and Memory by Elie Wiesel, and in the excerpt from The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger the value of memory are treated in both worthy and harmful ways using diction, repetition, and theme. For the first time in history, we could not bury our dead. We bear their graves within ourselves. Diction is shown in that quote in a negative way because Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor witnessed people that he loved and people that he didn t even know die. All those innocent people weren t buried the right way, and they died with horror in their eyes knowing that they would most likely die. This tragedy was carried on everyone s back. Elie Wiesel wrote this to show that because of the Holocaust, those people that died didn t die in peace, and all their loved ones now have to carry that with them. Also, diction and repetition comes into play in Elie Wiesel s passage because he tends to use the words memory and forget . He uses the word memory five times and the word forget four times in a negative way because he writes, Indeed this was another universe. Forget where you came from; forget who you were. Elie Wiesel wrote this to show that the people in the concentration camps would mentally survive better if they just forgot who they were. They wouldn t have to feel the pain from ... This way cattle can be tracked through an approved radio frequency tag in the case of a serious outbreak of disease. Having beef cattle that are trackable through ear tags ensures that beef will be of high quality, and the number of beef cattle are regulated. The cattle identification program radio tags were implanted due to an outbreak of mad cow disease in 2001, the radio tags operate as a way to track back to a source of a disease outbreak; therefore, beef can ensured to be of high quality by managing disease issues in beef cattle. The Canadian Cattle Identification Program for beef cattle was originally implemented due to the mad cow crisis in 2001. These tags gave the industry a way to track diseases back to their source. S.; El Helaly, A. A. * Plant Protection Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Fayoum University, Fayoum, Egypt Department of Economic Entomology and Pesticides, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt ABSTRACT Rice is one of the most important food crops for more than half of the world s population, the rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a major pest of stored rice in Egypt. The use of nanoparticles as pesticide could be promising alternative strategy to affect pests which have become resistant to pesticides. Two nano materials nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide were tested against rice weevil under laboratory and store conditions. Nano aluminum oxide was found to be highly effective against S. oryzae, while nano zinc oxide has lowered effectiveness against the weevil. Results showed that mortality percentage of S. oryzae were 65.34 ± 8.9 and 58.58 ± 8.3 after treatment with 0.5 gm / kg, 100.00± 9.6 and 81.81 ± 4.2 with 1 gm / kg. The mortality scored with 2 gm / kg 100.0 ± 0.0 and 80.80 ± 2.3 after 14 days of treatment with nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide, respectively as compared to 0.0 ± 0.0 in the control and 59.4 ± 3.2 with Malathion at LC50 value.
