A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course in Haematology equips students with a comprehensive understanding of blood, its
cellular components, laboratory safety measures, hematological studies, and quality assurance
in the field of Haematology. The course includes a theoretical exploration of various aspects
of Haematology, as well as practical experiments to provide hands-on experience.
B. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. List and describe the important equipment used in a Haematology laboratory, recall the types of
anticoagulants and their mode of action, and identify normal blood cells.
2. Explain the composition and function of blood, understand the importance of Haematology, and
interpret the results of various hematological investigations.
3. Apply the knowledge of safety measures in a Haematology laboratory, demonstrate the correct
method of collecting and preserving blood samples, and conduct a urine analysis.
4. Analyze the synthesis and degradation process of Hemoglobin, differentiate between the formation
processes of various cellular components of blood (Erythropoiesis, Leucopoiesis,
Thrombopoiesis), and scrutinize urine analysis results.
5. Evaluate the importance of quality assurance in Haematology, assess the internal and external
quality control measures, and determine the accuracy and precision of hematological
investigations.

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course in Haematology equips students with a comprehensive understanding of blood, its cellular components, laboratory safety measures, hematological studies, and quality assurance in the field of Haematology. The course includes a theoretical exploration of various aspects of Haematology, as well as practical experiments to provide hands-on experience. B. COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. List and describe the important equipment used in a Haematology laboratory, recall the types of anticoagulants and their mode of action, and identify normal blood cells. 2. Explain the composition and function of blood, understand the importance of Haematology, and interpret the results of various hematological investigations. 3. Apply the knowledge of safety measures in a Haematology laboratory, demonstrate the correct method of collecting and preserving blood samples, and conduct a urine analysis. 4. Analyze the synthesis and degradation process of Hemoglobin, differentiate between the formation processes of various cellular components of blood (Erythropoiesis, Leucopoiesis, Thrombopoiesis), and scrutinize urine analysis results. 5. Evaluate the importance of quality assurance in Haematology, assess the internal and external quality control measures, and determine the accuracy and precision of hematological investigations. C. COURSE OUTCOMES CO No Statement Performance Indicator Level of Learning (Highest BT Level) Target Attainment CO1 Students will be able to recall and define the core concepts and terminology of Haematology, PI 1, PI 6 K1: Remembering 70%
