Environmental Scarcity And Food Insecurity
A.
According to the FAO estimation, there are 840 million undernourished people in the world, and 95%
of them are from developing countries.
B.
Environmental scarcity and food insecurity are critical factors that intensify the issue of malnutrition
among people in most developing countries.
C.
d. Evidence health issue:
protein energy malnutrition (PEM) refers to a form of malnutrition where there is lack of calories and
protein intake. There are two kinds of PEM: the nutritional edema and starvation. They affect children
the most because children have less protein intake than adults. PEM is a fairly common issue across
the world and accounts for 45% of children s death in the global level, which can be attributed to
insufficient food intake.
Second hair illness is also a common deadly form of malnutrition of which kwashiorkor and
marasmus are extreme manifestation.
Marshall Island becomes a dietary colony of US. US provides cheap and unhealthy food to locals from
Marshall Island, which results in their malnutrition with high rate of obesity and high possibility of
getting cardiovascular disease.
Factors:
Globalization [looks like] improving the economies of poor countries (Guest), yet it accelerates in
inequity and weakens nations ability to achieve food security in local communities. More specifically,
The International Monetary Fund and World Bank provide financial support for the countries yet

The Political Dangers Of Santa Fe Trails
The political dangers of the Santa Fe Trails are not unique to a time period; they were however
differed in severity only shared across the timeline. Throughout the nineteenth century, the Southwest
faced a range of challenges, including the Mexican American War (1846 1848), which was fought
over the disputed boundary of Texas after it was annexed in 1845. The Mexicans and the Native
Americans continued to cause problems for political agents in the Southwest. Challenges in the
Southwest such as the relations with the Mexicans and Native Americans continued through to The
American Civil War, 1861 65. James Silas Calhoun (b.1802) was made Indian Agent in 1851 by
President Fillmore. His political history begins in 1825 working within Georgia Legislature, starting
as a Democratic he became a Whig in the early 1830 s. He died in Independence Missouri in 1852.
James Calhoun s correspondence illustrates a wide range of circumstances from which the political
situation can be deduced. The correspondence covers the period of his time in office: 1849 52.
Alongside other contemporary accounts the details of the political situation can be concurred across
the timeline, although the situation adapted over the time period of this study. Accounts from Captain
William Becknell and William Ryus give further details of the Santa Fe Trail before and after James
Calhoun s correspondence. Becknell and Ryus travelled the Trail in 1821 and 1860 respectively;
Becknell was the first one to travel

Roswell Incident Research Paper
The Roswell Incident This world we live in can be a mystery, and because of that there are people out
their dedicating their lives to solving the unknown. So when the Roswell incident accured there was a
massive rush down south to figure out exactly what happened and where this Unidentified Flying
Object (UFO) came from. When this event got public the local townspeople got out that the entire
thing was from another planet entirely. After the government stated that the material was from a
weather balloon, some people thought it was a cover up for what it actually was. I d like to make three
brief points on why I think the Roswell incident and this discovery of UFOs is fake. First off, I d like
to say how people originally thought of the UFOs as Extra Terrestrial beings. Although I guess people
looked over the fact that the material that the UFO contained a human made material. The people of
Roswell turned this into a big story with a major assumption that the material came from space, but I
don t think they have much evidence for that. With all these people coming up with random ideas as to
what may have landed in that farmers field in 1947, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My three topics ran through my ideas that I came up with such as how the Weather Balloon could ve
been a hoax but how it also wasn t. How the material the Object was made of was human made and
not something the government couldn t identify, and how the current time period was during an active
war where anything could ve happened. With this I d like to say that I believe that the Roswell
incident was fake and completely over exaggerated and how people thought it was cool to go out and
pretend to see UFOs was kind of dumb. I know for sure that they were either planes or other man
made machines that people like to make things out of. I learned from this story to never trust things

Schick Razors Advertisement Analysis Essay
In a Game Informer magazine, I have found an advertisement for a Schick razor. The line of pictures
of bald men caught my eye, so I had to take a minute to see what this advertisement promotes. Schick
razors continue to rise as one of the most popular brands of razors for men and women. You can find
their advertisements virtually anywhere. This particular advertisement is for a newly designed razor
with a curved front, making it easier to get a close shave. Schick targets the male populations with this
advertisement. This advertisement has two pictures. The first shows four large, boldly framed pictures
of professionally dressed, aged bald men hanging on the wall. Underneath of these pictures, three
younger men set in white chairs lined up against the same wall, fidgeting with things. Another young
man sits in a chair facing to the side, separated from the others by an end table, looking up at the
pictures hanging on the wall. All the young men look sharply dressed and all have full heads of styled
hair. In the top corner, it says interview starts in 15 minutes . The second picture shows the same
scene, except the man sitting in the chair facing to the side, has shaved all his hair off. Him and an
older bald gentleman, who has just entered the room to call someone back for an interview, exchange

The razor, not the main focus, got overlooked easily when I first viewed the ad. The razor has a unique
design with its curved front, so I think that it should have taken center stage in the advertisement,
since the razor will sell and not the men. I remained too focused on looking at the men, trying to
figure out why the all sat there and why one guy had a bald head so quickly so I didn t even see the
razor. I had to look a little to finally realize what the advertisement promoted. If I plan to buy
something based off an advertisement, I do not want to have to solve a puzzle to know what they plan

Carotid Dissection Case Study Examples
Carotid artery dissection remains to be the least recognized entity among the variety of cardiovascular
syndromes (Stapf, Elkind, Mohr, 2000). Dissection of the carotid artery is caused by a tearing of the
arterial wall layers, usually the intima from the media. The tear flaps freely in the arterial lumen
creating a false lumen, where blood can enter and may form a thrombus (Kupinski, 2013). The
weakening of the arterial wall caused by the separation of the layers may also result in a
pseudoaneurysm (Schievink, 2001). Although carotid dissection account for less than 2% of all
ischemic strokes, they are the leading cause of ischemic strokes affecting all age groups, including
children, especially with patients in their fifth decade of life (Schievink, 2001). Most patients may
present with minor stroke symptoms with localized pain in the neck or face and some patients may be
asymptomatic. The diagnostic goal is to identify these patients prior to an ischemic event. Duplex
ultrasound has proven to be a reliable and safe imaging modality that provides accurate diagnostic
data for early carotid artery obstructive disease and follow up for dissections. Case Study A 63 year
old man presented at the clinic for carotid stenosis. He had a type A aortic dissection in 2010

Most commonly presented symptoms are unilateral headaches, facial or neck pain ipsilateral to the
dissection, as was the case for this patient, but they could also experience mild cranial nerve
dysfunction or a complete ischemic event (Stapf et al., 2000). Ischemic events frequently occur with
about 50% of patients reporting ischemic symptoms preceding a stroke (Schievink, 2001). There is a
higher risk of a stroke within the first month of the onset of a dissection, thus, early diagnosis is
important to initiate management and prevention of stroke (Adkins et al.,

The Network Formation and Maintenance:
Many phases are involved in formation and the execution of a network. We need to have undeniable

After this we have the power active for which each of the windup device builds and airings the join

The Indian Removal Act By President Jackson
The idea of western expansion was promoted in order to strengthen the reputation and the entirety of
the infant country. This was appropriated and romanticized through texts and documents, such as
Manifest Destiny by John C. Calhoun and the message promoting the Indian Removal Act by
President Jackson, which uses various appeals and logical fallacies to persuade the audience on the
ideal benefits and optimistic virtues without the consideration of the Native American demographic.
While expanding, the Americans encountered numerous Native Americans that ranged from a violent
interaction to a peaceful treaty of removal in order to satisfy the American s territorial cupidity.

Similar to African Americans and women in 1800 s (and arguably now), these Amerindians were
minorities that arguably possessed no value nor contribution the cultivation of the United States. Ideas
initially encouraged by Christopher Columbus, where he refers to Native Americans as ignorant
savage beasts, has been preserved and acknowledged by the Americans where the belief of inferiority
resonates with their perspective of the Native Americans. Immoral as this notion sounds, the
Americans would then enfranchise to urbanization, industrialization, and acquisition of abundant
resources without pondering on the consequences it has on the Native Americans. In 1830, in order to
proceed in territorial aggrandizement, newly inaugurated President Jackson scribed a congressional
message promoting the removal of Indians for the vain benefit of the United States. In the
intermediary of his message, he states a rhetorical question: What good man would prefer a country
covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our extensive Republic, studded with
cities, towns, and prosperous farms embellished with all the improvements which art can devise or
industry execute, occupied by more than 12 million happy people, and filled with all the blessings of
liberty, civilization, and religion? (Jackson 1) The inclusion of this rhetorical question is to exclude the

dismembering the baby by breaking the baby s bones, skull, and spine and then removes the now dead

you will have a successful one. I have seen testimonies on tv about children who were attempted to be
aborted and now they have disabilities that they probably would not have had before. My suggestion
is. If you do not want kids have a hysterectomy. Recently I found out there is sex selective abortion
which means if a couple is unhappy with the sex of their baby then they can terminate the pregnancy.
This article I read states If we are committed to a Pro choice stance with regard to selective abortion
for disability, we will be unable to justify the prohibition of sex selective abortion (Williams 1). What
this quote is saying is that if people are going to be on the pro choice stance, then they have to be all

Eureka Phenomenon Essay
There are many times when one sits for long periods thinking and trying to find solutions to their
issues, be it in mathematics, or in relationships, or even in challenging games. Often, however, the
answer to the question is found not by deliberately looking for the solution, but while doing leisurely
activities and seeing or hearing something that makes them realize the answer to their problem. Isaac
Asimov goes into detail about this experience in his essay The Eureka Phenomenon which can also be
observed in the film Zootopia, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore. Asimov takes on a
decidedly alternative method to solving problematic situations. In his essay, he is emphatic that
thinking too hard for too long about our concerns will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Application Room For Breast Imaging
When I entered the medical field over twenty years ago, at the front desk of the radiology department
were file cabinets which contained notecards listing the imaging studies performed on each patient. If
a patient had previous imaging, we would go to the film file room to retrieve the folder from the
rolling storage units. In these heavy folders, along with the films, is also where we would find the
typed reports associated with those old exams. After the radiologist compared new studies with the old
and dictated a report onto a small cassette tape, the transcriptionist would type the report from the
recording and a copy of the report stapled to the paper order for the exam performed was added to the
folder. Copies of the reports were filed in medical records and sent to the ordering provider. At the end
of each day, all film folders were returned to the file room for storage. In my current practice, imaging
orders are entered in the patient s electronic chart in the Epic computer system. When a patient arrives
for breast imaging, the relevant medical history is reviewed and updated in the Magview system.
Previous images are retrieved from PACS and the current digital study is compared on high resolution
computer monitors. With a few mouse clicks in Magview, the radiologist generates a report from the
patient history and current findings. Signing off with another click, the report is then immediately
added to the patient s chart and the ordering provider is notified of

The Era Of New Technology
The 1990s was the era of new technology. This era consists of wars and a variety of inventions coming
into our world, such as The Persian Gulf War, and the Google Search Bar. This decade was a time of
all sorts of records broken and right into the history book, just like when Eilleen Collins was the first
female to become an astronaut. This is a start to something big in many years to come.
The Persian Gulf War was one of the great wars that helped America to be what is today. This war
helped people achieve freedom and liberty in their lives. Furthermore, the United States paid for the
war and it costs the U.S. millions of dollars in debt (NAGEL, 21). The war was declared on August
20, 1990. This war was declared because of Iraq s invasion in Kuwait on August 20, 1990. Iraq s
leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of
acquiring that nation s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding
Iraqi power in the region (EXAMINER.COM). Persian Gulf War took place in Southwestern Asia.
The U.S benefited some things not just for them, but for other countries. People said the U.S achieved
freedom for other countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These countries did not possess
freedom. One thing the U.S benefited from this war, was respect. Another thing the U.S. gained during
this war was allies, such as Iran. Also, the U.S. gained respect from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And as

How Animation Has The Power To Shape. . We Live In A Time
HOW ANIMATION HAS THE POWER TO SHAPE We live in a time where children are spending
most of their time in front of a television. Cartoons are a resource of transmission of cultural,
educational and social values, to which we do not always seem to give the attention that we must. A
research carried out in 1998 on the children s television universe in Euskadi (Spain), said that the
average television consumption in children aged from 4 to 12 years reached 162 minutes per day.
Children are immersed in a process of development, especially at a young age where they absorb

importance of the economic factor for the transmission of series of cartoons, we observe a series of
aspects that in some occasions reflect the intentionality educational and cultural of their authors, such
as Beauty and the Beast while others are far from this purpose and even disregard it using animation
for a more mature audience, like American Dad. Let us focus on these two examples for a moment.
The Beauty and the Beast, a film that is based on the importance of inner beauty and self love, The
critical function of this film is to represent some of the values that society seems to forget such as
indiscrimination, since the film shows a clear discrimination against the Beast with actions such as
trying to end his life just because he does not have the same physical characteristics as the rest of the
people. This discrimination is ended by Belle (the protagonist), since she is the one who begins to
approach to the Beast and tries to get him closer to society by instilling certain values, norms, and
behaviors.

A Byronic Hero Of Our Time By Mikhail Lermontov
Pechorin A Byronic Hero
A Hero of Our Time, written by Mikhail Lermontov, consists of 5 stories that reflect the life, the idea
and the personality of the main character named Pechorin. Pechorin is not a typical hero in romantic
literature perspective; instead, he is a great representation of a pathetic Byronic hero that more
commonly appears in the time of Lermontov.
Different from a traditional hero and as a typical Byronic hero, Pechorin is reflected to be self centered
and manipulative in many parts of the story. His selfishness is shown through his indifference to
others and through the despicable methods of getting the things he wants. Pechorin is sexually
appealing, and could won the love of many beauties easily. However, he never really cherished his
charming and tried to manipulate the girls in the way he wants. When he flirts with a girl, mostly it is
because he is temporarily enjoying their beauty and the pleasure he can get from them. When he really
falls in love with them, he still only knows to receiving the love from them and never really dedicates
anything for his loves. When he fell in love with Bela, he got her through a despicable trade of the
horse of Kazbich with Bela s brother. This trade made Bela lost her brother and father and deprived
her happiness for a long time. However, because of Pechorin s self serving and manipulative
personality, he failed to consider the consequence for his love and only enjoyed the feeling of

Take Away, By Jhumpa Lahiri And Pot Roast By Mark Strand
Around the world food is an international experience. It does not matter what a person s race is or
where they originated from, the culture of food is what brings people together. The diversity of food in
one s meal often brings back different memories from people s past. In the poem, Pot Roast, by Mark
Strand and the short story, Indian Takeout, by Jhumpa Lahiri both discuss about their experience with
food and present how food is significant to their culture.
Although Lahiri s and Strand s stories might seem different because of their style of writing they are

According to Alfred Rosa, concrete diction refers to words that stimulate some kind of sensory
response in the reader (Rosa 55). The description of her father sipping on mangoes allowed the reader
to feel the sensation of tasting the oozing juice of the fruit. In addition to that, her audience can also
sense the taste of the sweet, sticky oranges Lahiri s mother ate. Lahiri used specific diction when
describing the yogurt cups and her sister s Moghlai paraths. The reader can visualize what the author
saw by describing the red clay yogurt cups and the flat bread folded, omelet style Moghlai paraths.
Lahiri s choice of words gave an amusing effect on her readers to participate in what she sensed and
felt in her story. In the poem, Pot Roast, the speaker described his memory of his mother s pot roast
through simplistic, yet descriptive, poetic versus. Strand also provided his readers concrete and

Search Techniques Used By Google Scholar
When searching the above four databases the search techniques I used were: After selecting a topic the
next step is to identify, in a structured way, the appropriate and related information. A systematic
approach is most likely to generate a beneficial review. Searches for literature reviews are attempted
most ordinarily utilizing PCs and electronic databases. PC databases offer access to immense amounts
of data, which can be recovered more effortlessly and rapidly than utilizing a manual hunt. (Younger,
2004) There are various electronic databases, a large portion of which manage particular fields of data.
It is vital along these lines to recognize which databases are applicable to the theme. Google scholar
has latest information available and is freely accessible to all as compared to the other sources. I for
myself chose to search from google scholar for my review as it provides a wider and richer database
than others. It searches a wide variety of sources, including academic publishers, universities, and
preprint depositories looking for: Peer reviewed articles, Thesis, Books, Technical reports etc. is easy
to search as it provides some basic and advanced search options, like a database attempts to help you

of the business. As a young man Hitchcock was raised and lived in England with his parents. When a
new Paramount studio opened he rushed to get a job there having had interest in film making for quite
a bit of time. He was employed at Paramount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
#9;In Blackmail it is the use of both sounds and visuals. Hitchcock managed to not take away from the
visuals when incorporating sound into his films. The sound does not overwhelm the film so the viewer
is still able to pay attention to the finite detail. A viewer does not miss the reoccurring image of hands
reaching at Alice. The same with the glove being forgotten in the artist s studio, the place the murder
took place. The sound in the movie improved upon what was already there.
The next film I am going to discuss is the 1935 film The 39 Steps , or otherwise titled The Thirty nine
Steps , named and fashioned after the novel written by John Buchan. This film is one of the most
popular early works of Hitchcock, and it was from this movie that Hitchcock became Hitchcock , not
just a director but a name. It emanated his distinct and unique style of directing and gave him a very
big name in the industry and the audience. This film also displayed his talent in being able to make a
novel s story line work in a movie with just a few adjustments. He was able to compress the novel to a
length that would interest the audience and improve upon it as well. The length was important to
Hitchcock for he once was quoted as saying, The length of the film should be directly related to the
endurance of the human bladder , a standard all directors should work by in my opinion.

How Does Jane Austen Use Consumer Culture In Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen (16 December 1775 18 July 1817) was a famous English novelist, who is eminently
known for her six novels. Those novels, which include Northanger Abbey also, comment upon the
lifestyle, norms, practices, and social existence of British landed gentry towards the end of the 18th
century. Apart from that, her novels show the dependence of young girls on marriage in order to get a
pleasant social place and financial security. In Northanger Abbey, she gives the social image of
different characters and employs different structures such as etiquettes, social behavior, estates, and
preoccupation with consumer culture and fashion to show their place in the hierarchy.
Though there are different themes, which Jane Austen, explores in her novel Northanger Abbey, the
idea of consumer culture in her time and related social culture appealed to me the most. It is a general
habit of Jane Austen that she explores the norms and habits of English society ... Show more content

In Northanger Abbey, Austen has shown that most of the characters value themselves in relation to the
material wealth they possess. In other words, the material wealth becomes a scale for their identity and
social image. Accordingly, Mrs. Allen is always preoccupied with this fear that she might shred her
latest ball gown. In another instance, Isabella constantly compares and contrasts her attire with those
of other women while walking with Catherine. General Tilney is another example of a person who
measures everything according to and for wealth. Even he values people, not because of their innate
qualities but the wealth that person possesses. These examples show that people in Austen s time from
rich class used to live for the sake of the wealth they possessed and accordingly, their sense of self was
affected and grounded in their material wealth and social

First Day High School
Imagine a group of kids are walking down the street heading to school and all the sudden something
falls from the tree. As the group looks up they find it to be a brownish oddly shaped leaf has fallen
from the tree above. Once everyone notices they can consider that the leaves are now falling and the
season of fall is about to be approaching. Many Americans in the northern states tend to see leaves fall
in the months of September through November. These months always bring family and friends
together for college football games and Thanksgiving. What make these months so special are all the
fun activities going on in our busy lives. There is the beginning of school starting for Kindergartners

Masculinity Of Clytemnestra
In this paper, I will discuss the different ways Clytemnestra isn t your typical female character. In most
of Greek mythology women were mostly seen as passive, weak, and constantly taking orders from
men. She was the complete opposite, she was really a one of a kind. More masculine than some of the
men in the stories, and definitely more masculine than feminine she was a very strong, solid,
independent, powerful character throughout Agamemnon. The story definitely wouldn t be as
controversial as it was if it weren t for the boldness, extremely deceptive tactics, manipulative ways,
and ruthless acts of Clytemnestra. She constantly defied the role that was given to women in the art of
ancient Greece, she paved the way for powerful women characters for the future.
The story of Agamemnon was really a prime example of the masculinity of Clytemnestra. From the
point in the story where Agamemnon has to sacrifice his beloved daughter in order to save the people
of his empire and go to war, you could tell that did not sit well with her. I mean it must be the worst
thing in the world to have to sacrifice a child of your own, something that a king had to do. It makes
you think of how great of a king he was to have the balls to do so, but that decision that he made it
stuck with Clytemnestra. It drove her into madness, and ruthless behavior. She wanted her revenge
and she was going to have her revenge no matter what, she was going to stop at nothing in order to get
it. She ruled the

Designing The Robotic Arm Is Controlled By A...
In this paper a project is proposed to separate the objects from a set according to their colors. This can
be useful for categorization of the objects which move on a conveyer belt. The proposed method of
categorization is based on color of the object. In this project the system categorization of different
colors. The detection of the particular color is done by a light intensity to frequency converter method.
The robotic arm is controlled by a microcontroller based system which controls DC motor for picking
up the specified color from a moving objects conveyer belt.
In this project we will be using combination of microcontroller, Sensors and mat lab for some
virtualization. When a different combination of objects moving on industrial conveyer belt it s very
difficult or labor consuming to separate the objects based on the color , As machinery is capable to
produce the different color objects at the same time or different machineries produce the different
color objects and dump on the same conveyer belt. At this point of time our project provides value
added service in picking up the objects based on their color for packing or distinguishing.

Oedipus The King Pride Essay
Man s Greatest Enemies Although Oedipus is an ideal leader who once saved the city of Thebes from
the monstrous Sphinx, his fatal flaws of anger and pride ultimately lead to his tragic downfall.
Oedipus s harsh temper leads him to make rash decisions and often causes him to show disrespect to
people. For example, Oedipus displays his quick temper when the blind prophet, Tiresias, accuses him
of murdering Laius, the former king of Thebes. Although Tiresias is physically blind, he sees the truth,
while Oedipus sees but is blind to the truth. Oedipus becomes furious with the old man and begins to
yell at him for this ghastly accusation. You miserable old man! You d drive a stone to fury, Oedipus
screams violently. He even goes as far as to describe Tiresias as a night hatched thing. Oedipus truly is
an ideal leader; however, this flaw aids in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His more significant flaw, his pride, fuels his quick temper which leads to a greater dilemma for the
king. For instance, in the fourth episode as the shepherd from Corinth arrives, Oedipus shows his pride
when he takes advantage of the old man. Look, Elders, if I may play the prophet too, I d say although I
ve never met the man there s the herdsmen we ve been searching for, Oedipus declares pompously.
Seconds before the shepherd enters, Oedipus compares himself to a prophet when he tells the elders
his opinions about the man approaching. When the old man refuses to tell Oedipus the truth, Oedipus
threatens to hurt and even to kill the poor man, demonstrating Oedipus s hubris fueling his temper.
Perhaps the most significant example of his vanity occurs when the messenger from Corinth delivers
the news to Jocasta and Oedipus revealing the death of Oedipus s father. Instead of mourning his
father s death, Oedipus celebrates thinking that he broke the curse and outwitted the gods since his

The Role Of Debt During World War II
The Role of Debt In the time between the end of World War II and the early 2000s, the ways
consumers used debt changed significantly. However, one thing remained clear, borrowing became the
new lifestyle that most Americans adopted. Borrowing allowed the average working and middle class
person to purchase homes and the items that filled their interiors. It also became the fuel to a
resurrecting economy. The trust between borrowers and lenders has encouraged the stimulation of the
economy. Because of this, debt has played a crucial role in American history. The first change that
affected the lives of American citizens after World War II was the re introduction of credit. The roots
of credit, as it is known today, originated from department stores before the war. Women would enter
these stores to purchase items which were then charged to an account if they had insufficient funds to
pay for their goods. Nonetheless these accounts had to be paid.
Those charge accounts had to be paid each and every month promptly. From its inception in the
nineteenth century until World War II, this charge account, thought of as a shopper convenience like
gift wrap, defined department store credit (Louis Hyman, Borrow: The American Way of Debt, 100).
During the war, the government intervened with its widespread credit controls (Louis Hyman,
Borrow: The American Way of Debt, 105). Many department stores shut down their credit programs.
As a result, charge accounts and installment credit

Comparison Of Apple s IOS And Android OS
Comparison of Apple s IOS and Android OS Nowadays, smartphones have been an irreplaceable and
indispensable part of people s daily life. What makes the smartphones so smart is the OS, in other
words, the operation system. The OS is the basic and soul of a smartphone, which means if the phone
is the body, then the OS is the neural network and intellectual system to control the body. Among
diverse operation systems, Apple s IOS and Android OS are the most outstanding, they have occupied
about 96 percent of the whole global smartphone market together. They are both widely used and liked
by individuals but they also have own advantages and disadvantages. The first difference is in
Customizability. Accessing and completing control over the devices is available the bootloader can
also be unlocked by Android users while that is not available for IOS users. Users of IOS are highly
limited to customize it unless jailbreak, but after jailbreak, the Apple Company will be no longer and
no need to keep its promise on the products because jailbreak is banned by the official. The OS of
Android is totally different, users can change almost everything if they want to. This difference comes
from the different source model, which is closed, with open source component in IOS and open in
Android. The iOS kernel is not an open source but is based on the open source Darwin OS while the
Kernel, UI, and some standard apps of Android are all open source. As a result, Android can be more

original PCL but modified for those in the military and veterans. The purpose of this measure is to

The Causes of Sleep Deprivation
In Western cultures, the biggest cause of sleep deprivation is stress mostly as a result of being sick,
overworking and shift working, drugs, or examinations (Pinel, 2014). Sleep loss can lead to
impairment in decision making. Two studies have been conducted that look at twenty four hours of
sleep deprivation and focus on the effect it has on making complex decisions. Essentially, what is the
effect of total sleep deprivation in decision making? In 2009, David Schyner and his colleagues had
the opportunity to subject fifteen participants to a total of twenty four hours of sleep deprivation. They
set up their experiment by asking participants to make a decision between two choices and then again
between three choices after a day of sleep loss. Researchers found that participants had a decreased
ability to make integrative decisions between two choices, and the three choice tasks were
significantly harder to make more so than the two choice task. MRIs of the participants showed an
overall decrease in five regions of the brain in of task specific activity versus a full night s rest.
Affected brain areas were the superior parietal lobe, which functions in spatial orientation; the
superior frontal gyrus and the middle frontal gyrus, which function in self awareness in coordination
with senses and processing higher information, respectively; the orbital frontal, the cognitive aspect of
processing decision making; and the inferior and medial polar frontal, which operates in

Construct Validity
Construct validity is the extent to which a test measures a theoretical construct (Dyce, n.d.); that is,
can the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test measure the presence of the different behaviours
described by the diagnostic criteria for the different personality disorders? There are two subcategories
of construct validity: convergent validity and discriminant validity. In the case of a personality
disorder test convergent validity is the degree to which the test that should be theoretically related to a
behaviour associated with a given personality disorder is in fact related. This form of validity is an
example in which results should be taken in a person s context or in conjunction with results of other
forms of testing. For example, Q11 of the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test (n.d.) Do you have
a difficult time relating to others? (p. 1). If a person s contacts are of at a lower education level their
language or ideas may or may not be understood. For discriminant validity it is the degree to which
the test that should not be theoretically related to a behaviour associated with a given personality
disorder is in fact not related. No information was available to know how the 4degreez.com
Personality Disorder Test faired on testing for construct validity. Howard (1994) claims that the

Social Class Of The United States
If you took a handful of random strangers and asked them to tell you whom they are, a majority of
those people would start by defining themselves with their name and occupation. The American
society is conventionally arranged into social classes founded on income, wealth, occupation,
educational successfulness and social network. Social classes are defined as status hierarchy in which
individuals and groups are classified on the basis of esteem and prestige acquired mainly through
economic success and the accumulation of wealth. ( social class ) For most of American history, social
classes have created inflexible barriers, with multiple institutions and businesses, administering rules
established on racial discrimination and other forms of categorizing people founded on
preconceptions. Social class in the United States is a contentious matter, possessing many different
models, definitions and arguments for its obvious existence. Though many Americans now commonly
identify with the three tier model a model that incorporates the upper class, the middle class, and
lower class/poverty social scientists have suggested more intricately created model. The extreme
definition of social classes has only recently appeared in the past 250 years. Clarity of this natural
habit did not strike the citizens of the United States until the colonial times when many of the richer,
higher class citizens decided they were in need of separation from those that were considered low

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
From the arrival of Jurgis family to an America that was not what they expected, to the loss of all hope
in their lives, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle shows many instances where the immigrants and workers of
the industries are severely exploited. Sinclair traveled to the stockyards in Chicago in order to observe
the conditions the workers lived and worked in. What he found was disturbing, disgusting, and
something of major importance to the public. Sinclair then decided to write his story about the abuse
of the workers, published the story, and accurately called it The Jungle , since the chaos in

His narrative is part of numerous attempts to document those living on the margins of American

Sinclair s The Jungle provides an excellent example of the yellow journalism and muckraking that
opened the eyes of many Americans during the 1900 s by showing the exploitation of the workers, the
conditions of the workplace, and the products sold to the public.
Before the time of muckrakers and yellow journalists came along, the conditions held in workplaces
like Jurgis were disgusting and nauseating, but the public had no clue of any of this since this news
was not being shared with the public. In The Jungle , many secrets about the sanitation and work laws
conducted in the industries were kept secret from the public. Sinclair s character, Jurgis, provides an
excellent point of view as a worker having to make a living in these conditions. For example, Jurgis
points out that the livestock the businesses used for food production was unfit to be fed to human
beings, saying that the meat was old and crippled and diseased , steerly , or covered in boils , and of
course, company owners kept this from the public to continue sales and production (Sinclair 709). The

The begins of rock and roll have always been challenged as to when they were first established. The
most common argument is that is first started in Southern United states, the birth place of many of the

immigrants from Europe, through the gathering of different influences that created a connection
between African musical traditions with European instrumentation. Immigration of once slaves to

Pros And Cons Of Homophobia In America
In America, there are laws and policies to protect the working class. Employers can not discriminate
on employees based on race or gender, although sexual orientation is not covered by such laws. This
leaves gay people venerable to discrimination in the work place or the termination of their job,
because of how they choose to express their sexuality. This venerability caused by the lack of anti
discrimination laws. This puts gay people into a situation that is less stable than their heterosexual
counter parts. As long as a person s intimate relationships do not impact work performance, then a
person s relationship choices, gay or not, should not be a concern to the employer. Homophobia is

Alleviating homophobia in education, would allow for more LGB people to get the education that is
needed to get a secure job. John Iceland, Professor of Sociology and Demography at Pennsylvania
State University, in his book Poverty in America: A Handbook, explores how inequality in opportunity
plays a large role in driving poverty. He explains that in globalization of trade and sending jobs
overseas for cheaper labor, makes less unskilled jobs for people in America. Iceland explains those
who are more likely to lose their jobs are more likely to fall into poverty. He observes that an
uneducated people are having a harder time getting a job, and higher education is necessary to get a
well paying secure job (Iceland). The discrimination makes it harder for homosexual people to get an
education, therefore making it harder for them to secure a stable job in the current state of the
economy. Gay people are very prone to discrimination. LBT people are more prone to a wage gap
caused by lack of opportunity that makes them more likely to experience poverty. The constant threat

and continued to supply British troops for their own benefits. (Bennett 142) Also, Halifax was the
center of a large British naval and military base. As Wilms states the strong military presence made it
virtually impossible for any sort of active revolution. (qtd in Wilms) Although their influence did not
stretch across all of the settlements the base provided simple trade and protection from warfare. This
influenced many to stay neutral even if their fundamental beliefs had most likely lied with the rebels.
(Bennett 139)
Overall, based on multiple influences Nova Scotia decided to reside in the American Revolution and
stay neutral. Their lack of influence on the war was largely determined by spiritual revival, economic
salvation and independent ideology. In our modern society most citizens would go to extraordinary
lengths to protect loved ones, which is very similar to the Scotians. Some going against basic beliefs
they ultimately chose to benefit themselves. Although not taking the risk may have eliminated the
chance to create new identities and move into a new era built directly on their own

adversity has the effect on eliciting talents which prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant .

Buddhism And The Poetry Of Jac Essay
Buddhism and the Poetry of Jack Kerouac
For we all go back where we came from,

Buddhists, who will still be funny Masters up there, bless em.
Jack Kerouac
from Heaven
Jack Kerouac spent his creative years writing in a prosperous post world war II America. He was in
many ways a very patriotic person who had no problem making known his love for his country ,
particularly within his literature. It was, quite literally, America that he was in love with. Taking cues
from writers such as Whitman, he embraced the American landscape as a field for spiritual cultivation.
Kerouac was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kerouac was a devoted student of the Buddhist way and would often impress his peers with his
knowledge of the Sutras and other Buddhist texts and ideas. This is particularly interesting when it is
considered that these peers were other students of Buddhism such as Gary Snyder or even Philip
Whalen, who is an ordained Zen monk. In fact, Kerouac was so immersed in Buddhist thought that in
1956 he completed the manuscript to what would become a 420 page book titled Some Of The
Dharma, which was a collection of notes and thoughts on various ideas taken from the Sutras.
Included also were numerous poems and prose poems, which were attempts to transliterate the ancient
wisdom of Buddhism into a modern context, applicable to the western intellectual and spiritual
journeyman. Some of the Dharma was to be a study guide for the beginning practice of Kerouac
amp;#8217;s good friend and companion Allen Ginsberg.
While Kerouac was writing what was perhaps his best and certainly one of his most spiritually driven
novels, Desolation Angels, he was also writing a poem to accompany the novel which was titled
Desolation Blues. Although written after Kerouac was no longer up on Desolation Peak serving as a
fire lookout in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, it was a reflection upon the many contemplations
provoked by the solitude and serenity of the time he spent alone atop the mountain. From the opening
line he has recognized an inherently Buddhist view of the world

  • 2. Environmental Scarcity And Food Insecurity A. According to the FAO estimation, there are 840 million undernourished people in the world, and 95% of them are from developing countries. B. Environmental scarcity and food insecurity are critical factors that intensify the issue of malnutrition among people in most developing countries. C. d. Evidence health issue: protein energy malnutrition (PEM) refers to a form of malnutrition where there is lack of calories and protein intake. There are two kinds of PEM: the nutritional edema and starvation. They affect children the most because children have less protein intake than adults. PEM is a fairly common issue across the world and accounts for 45% of children s death in the global level, which can be attributed to insufficient food intake. Second hair illness is also a common deadly form of malnutrition of which kwashiorkor and marasmus are extreme manifestation. Marshall Island becomes a dietary colony of US. US provides cheap and unhealthy food to locals from Marshall Island, which results in their malnutrition with high rate of obesity and high possibility of getting cardiovascular disease. • 3. The Political Dangers Of Santa Fe Trails The political dangers of the Santa Fe Trails are not unique to a time period; they were however differed in severity only shared across the timeline. Throughout the nineteenth century, the Southwest faced a range of challenges, including the Mexican American War (1846 1848), which was fought over the disputed boundary of Texas after it was annexed in 1845. The Mexicans and the Native Americans continued to cause problems for political agents in the Southwest. Challenges in the Southwest such as the relations with the Mexicans and Native Americans continued through to The American Civil War, 1861 65. James Silas Calhoun (b.1802) was made Indian Agent in 1851 by President Fillmore. His political history begins in 1825 working within Georgia Legislature, starting as a Democratic he became a Whig in the early 1830 s. He died in Independence Missouri in 1852. James Calhoun s correspondence illustrates a wide range of circumstances from which the political situation can be deduced. The correspondence covers the period of his time in office: 1849 52. Alongside other contemporary accounts the details of the political situation can be concurred across the timeline, although the situation adapted over the time period of this study. Accounts from Captain William Becknell and William Ryus give further details of the Santa Fe Trail before and after James Calhoun s correspondence. Becknell and Ryus travelled the Trail in 1821 and 1860 respectively; Becknell was the first one to travel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Roswell Incident Research Paper The Roswell Incident This world we live in can be a mystery, and because of that there are people out their dedicating their lives to solving the unknown. So when the Roswell incident accured there was a massive rush down south to figure out exactly what happened and where this Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) came from. When this event got public the local townspeople got out that the entire thing was from another planet entirely. After the government stated that the material was from a weather balloon, some people thought it was a cover up for what it actually was. I d like to make three brief points on why I think the Roswell incident and this discovery of UFOs is fake. First off, I d like to say how people originally thought of the UFOs as Extra Terrestrial beings. Although I guess people looked over the fact that the material that the UFO contained a human made material. The people of Roswell turned this into a big story with a major assumption that the material came from space, but I don t think they have much evidence for that. With all these people coming up with random ideas as to what may have landed in that farmers field in 1947, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My three topics ran through my ideas that I came up with such as how the Weather Balloon could ve been a hoax but how it also wasn t. How the material the Object was made of was human made and not something the government couldn t identify, and how the current time period was during an active war where anything could ve happened. With this I d like to say that I believe that the Roswell incident was fake and completely over exaggerated and how people thought it was cool to go out and pretend to see UFOs was kind of dumb. I know for sure that they were either planes or other man made machines that people like to make things out of. I learned from this story to never trust things with very little ... • 5. Schick Razors Advertisement Analysis Essay In a Game Informer magazine, I have found an advertisement for a Schick razor. The line of pictures of bald men caught my eye, so I had to take a minute to see what this advertisement promotes. Schick razors continue to rise as one of the most popular brands of razors for men and women. You can find their advertisements virtually anywhere. This particular advertisement is for a newly designed razor with a curved front, making it easier to get a close shave. Schick targets the male populations with this advertisement. This advertisement has two pictures. The first shows four large, boldly framed pictures of professionally dressed, aged bald men hanging on the wall. Underneath of these pictures, three younger men set in white chairs lined up against the same wall, fidgeting with things. Another young man sits in a chair facing to the side, separated from the others by an end table, looking up at the pictures hanging on the wall. All the young men look sharply dressed and all have full heads of styled hair. In the top corner, it says interview starts in 15 minutes . The second picture shows the same scene, except the man sitting in the chair facing to the side, has shaved all his hair off. Him and an older bald gentleman, who has just entered the room to call someone back for an interview, exchange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The razor, not the main focus, got overlooked easily when I first viewed the ad. The razor has a unique design with its curved front, so I think that it should have taken center stage in the advertisement, since the razor will sell and not the men. I remained too focused on looking at the men, trying to figure out why the all sat there and why one guy had a bald head so quickly so I didn t even see the razor. • 6. Carotid Dissection Case Study Examples Carotid artery dissection remains to be the least recognized entity among the variety of cardiovascular syndromes (Stapf, Elkind, Mohr, 2000). Dissection of the carotid artery is caused by a tearing of the arterial wall layers, usually the intima from the media. The tear flaps freely in the arterial lumen creating a false lumen, where blood can enter and may form a thrombus (Kupinski, 2013). The weakening of the arterial wall caused by the separation of the layers may also result in a pseudoaneurysm (Schievink, 2001). Although carotid dissection account for less than 2% of all ischemic strokes, they are the leading cause of ischemic strokes affecting all age groups, including children, especially with patients in their fifth decade of life (Schievink, 2001). Most patients may present with minor stroke symptoms with localized pain in the neck or face and some patients may be asymptomatic. The diagnostic goal is to identify these patients prior to an ischemic event. Duplex ultrasound has proven to be a reliable and safe imaging modality that provides accurate diagnostic data for early carotid artery obstructive disease and follow up for dissections. In 1830, in order to proceed in territorial aggrandizement, newly inaugurated President Jackson scribed a congressional message promoting the removal of Indians for the vain benefit of the United States. In the intermediary of his message, he states a rhetorical question: What good man would prefer a country covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and prosperous farms embellished with all the improvements which art can devise or industry execute, occupied by more than 12 million happy people, and filled with all the blessings of liberty, civilization, and religion? Eureka Phenomenon Essay There are many times when one sits for long periods thinking and trying to find solutions to their issues, be it in mathematics, or in relationships, or even in challenging games. Often, however, the answer to the question is found not by deliberately looking for the solution, but while doing leisurely activities and seeing or hearing something that makes them realize the answer to their problem. Isaac Asimov goes into detail about this experience in his essay The Eureka Phenomenon which can also be observed in the film Zootopia, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore. Application Room For Breast Imaging When I entered the medical field over twenty years ago, at the front desk of the radiology department were file cabinets which contained notecards listing the imaging studies performed on each patient. If a patient had previous imaging, we would go to the film file room to retrieve the folder from the rolling storage units. In these heavy folders, along with the films, is also where we would find the typed reports associated with those old exams. After the radiologist compared new studies with the old and dictated a report onto a small cassette tape, the transcriptionist would type the report from the recording and a copy of the report stapled to the paper order for the exam performed was added to the folder. Copies of the reports were filed in medical records and sent to the ordering provider. At the end of each day, all film folders were returned to the file room for storage. In my current practice, imaging orders are entered in the patient s electronic chart in the Epic computer system. When a patient arrives for breast imaging, the relevant medical history is reviewed and updated in the Magview system. Previous images are retrieved from PACS and the current digital study is compared on high resolution computer monitors. • 28. The Role Of Debt During World War II The Role of Debt In the time between the end of World War II and the early 2000s, the ways consumers used debt changed significantly. However, one thing remained clear, borrowing became the new lifestyle that most Americans adopted. Borrowing allowed the average working and middle class person to purchase homes and the items that filled their interiors. It also became the fuel to a resurrecting economy. The trust between borrowers and lenders has encouraged the stimulation of the economy. Because of this, debt has played a crucial role in American history. The first change that affected the lives of American citizens after World War II was the re introduction of credit. The roots of credit, as it is known today, originated from department stores before the war. Women would enter these stores to purchase items which were then charged to an account if they had insufficient funds to pay for their goods. Nonetheless these accounts had to be paid. Those charge accounts had to be paid each and every month promptly. From its inception in the nineteenth century until World War II, this charge account, thought of as a shopper convenience like gift wrap, defined department store credit (Louis Hyman, Borrow: The American Way of Debt, 100). During the war, the government intervened with its widespread credit controls (Louis Hyman, Borrow: The American Way of Debt, 105). Many department stores shut down their credit programs. • 33. The Causes of Sleep Deprivation In Western cultures, the biggest cause of sleep deprivation is stress mostly as a result of being sick, overworking and shift working, drugs, or examinations (Pinel, 2014). Sleep loss can lead to impairment in decision making. Two studies have been conducted that look at twenty four hours of sleep deprivation and focus on the effect it has on making complex decisions. Essentially, what is the effect of total sleep deprivation in decision making? In 2009, David Schyner and his colleagues had the opportunity to subject fifteen participants to a total of twenty four hours of sleep deprivation. They set up their experiment by asking participants to make a decision between two choices and then again between three choices after a day of sleep loss. Researchers found that participants had a decreased ability to make integrative decisions between two choices, and the three choice tasks were significantly harder to make more so than the two choice task. MRIs of the participants showed an overall decrease in five regions of the brain in of task specific activity versus a full night s rest. Affected brain areas were the superior parietal lobe, which functions in spatial orientation; the superior frontal gyrus and the middle frontal gyrus, which function in self awareness in coordination with senses and processing higher information, respectively; the orbital frontal, the cognitive aspect of processing decision making; and the inferior and medial polar frontal, which operates in ... Construct Validity Construct validity is the extent to which a test measures a theoretical construct (Dyce, n.d.); that is, can the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test measure the presence of the different behaviours described by the diagnostic criteria for the different personality disorders? There are two subcategories of construct validity: convergent validity and discriminant validity. In the case of a personality disorder test convergent validity is the degree to which the test that should be theoretically related to a behaviour associated with a given personality disorder is in fact related. This form of validity is an example in which results should be taken in a person s context or in conjunction with results of other forms of testing. For example, Q11 of the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test (n.d.) Do you have a difficult time relating to others? (p. 1). Social Class Of The United States If you took a handful of random strangers and asked them to tell you whom they are, a majority of those people would start by defining themselves with their name and occupation. The American society is conventionally arranged into social classes founded on income, wealth, occupation, educational successfulness and social network. Social classes are defined as status hierarchy in which individuals and groups are classified on the basis of esteem and prestige acquired mainly through economic success and the accumulation of wealth. ( social class ) For most of American history, social classes have created inflexible barriers, with multiple institutions and businesses, administering rules established on racial discrimination and other forms of categorizing people founded on preconceptions. Social class in the United States is a contentious matter, possessing many different models, definitions and arguments for its obvious existence. Though many Americans now commonly identify with the three tier model a model that incorporates the upper class, the middle class, and lower class/poverty social scientists have suggested more intricately created model. The extreme definition of social classes has only recently appeared in the past 250 years. Upton Sinclair s The Jungle From the arrival of Jurgis family to an America that was not what they expected, to the loss of all hope in their lives, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle shows many instances where the immigrants and workers of the industries are severely exploited. Sinclair traveled to the stockyards in Chicago in order to observe the conditions the workers lived and worked in. What he found was disturbing, disgusting, and something of major importance to the public. His narrative is part of numerous attempts to document those living on the margins of American society , which is why the story is considered to be part of yellow journalism (Connery). Upton Sinclair s The Jungle provides an excellent example of the yellow journalism and muckraking that opened the eyes of many Americans during the 1900 s by showing the exploitation of the workers, the conditions of the workplace, and the products sold to the public. Before the time of muckrakers and yellow journalists came along, the conditions held in workplaces like Jurgis were disgusting and nauseating, but the public had no clue of any of this since this news was not being shared with the public. In The Jungle , many secrets about the sanitation and work laws conducted in the industries were kept secret from the public. Sinclair s character, Jurgis, provides an excellent point of view as a worker having to make a living in these conditions. For example, Jurgis points out that the livestock the businesses used for food production was unfit to be fed to human beings, saying that the meat was old and crippled and diseased , steerly , or covered in boils , and of course, company owners kept this from the public to continue sales and production (Sinclair 709). In fact, Kerouac was so immersed in Buddhist thought that in 1956 he completed the manuscript to what would become a 420 page book titled Some Of The Dharma, which was a collection of notes and thoughts on various ideas taken from the Sutras. Included also were numerous poems and prose poems, which were attempts to transliterate the ancient wisdom of Buddhism into a modern context, applicable to the western intellectual and spiritual journeyman.
