In The Time Of The Butterflies Expository Essay
There are many instances of Foster s How to Read Literature Like a Professor being applicable to In
the Time of the Butterflies. One such instance of this is the appearance of the bible in the novel.
Religion had a large impact on the Mirabal sisters, especially Patria who was more in touch with her
religion than the other sisters. This is increasingly apparent in her views of Pedrito who she calls her
earthly groom. Also, Trujillo is similar to a god through his use of spies, through which he can see
everything, and his authoritative rule over the Dominican Republic. Another instance of HTRLLAP
being validated in In the Time of the Butterflies is through weather. The use of rain throughout the
novel represents a transition. For example when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel Trujillo repeatedly can be compared to a god. Through the use of his spies and
his authoritarian rule suggests he is trying to play the role of an unjust god. In Mama s house a portrait
of El Jefe is hung next to a picture of Jesus. In chapter 4 while Minerva lies beside Patria , they look at
the pictures and Minerva says They re a pair, aren t they? . She wonders why God would allow such a
terrible man to rule their country. When she looks up again the two faces had merged, further
validating the comparison between God and Trujillo. A similar merging of Trujillo occurs in chapter 6.
The paper fans that the girls received at the party thrown by Trujillo have the Virgencita on one side
and Trujillo on the other. Minerva states Sometimes it was El Jefe s probing eyes, sometimes it was
the Virgin s pretty face I couldn t stand to look at. . This is one of the many instances of Trujillo being
compared to a god. Trujillo also creates a slogan for himself, Dios e Trujillo, through which he tries to
validate his rule through God. Through the use of the principles of HTRLLAP, one can understand
fully the characterization of

Brunelleschi Dome Vs The Pantheon
Brunelleschi Dome is a masterpiece and today it is the center of attention in the city of Florence. For
decades, this beautiful cathedral didn t have a roof. In 1418, they governor of the city decided that
need to change so he offered a prize to the architect who could come up with a design to complete
their cathedral. Brunelleschi had never studied architect, but his apprenticeship in Rome leads him to
think he could use the Pantheon as his model. He knew that the design needed to be different than the
Pantheon because he didn t have the lumber to make the scaffolding to hold the ceiling in place. He
decided to make a double dome, instead of a single dome as the pantheon is. His design had many
people worried because not only had it never

Table Tennis And Ping Pong
Why is table table tennis so similar to ping pong? Well they are exactly the same thing! Table tennis/
ping pong began in the 1880s, and was later trademarked in the United states by Parker Brothers, the
board game company. Like most other sports, table tennis had humble beginnings as a parlor game but
really it was open to anyone with access to a table, paddle, and a ball. In 1922, The Ping Pong
Association was formed but got renamed to The Table Tennis Association because they are the same
thing. Over the years table tennis popularity grew, table tennis became so popular because In 1902 a
visiting Japanese university professor took the game back to Japan, where he introduced it to
university students. Shortly after, a British salesman, Edward Shires, introduced it to the people of
Vienna and Budapest, [ . . . ]. Due to the popularity of table tennis and how successful it became it in
1902 the sport ended up going to Japan due to a Japanese University professor that was visiting. He
liked the game so much that when he went back to Japan he introduced it to his university students.
The sport also ended up going to Britain and spread pretty far to the Sunderland and Plymouth. In
1922, an All England Club was formed, which boasted such luminaries as Jack Hobbs the cricketer
and other famous names of the time from the world of sport The sport was so popular it was like

Thomas Kuhn s Theory Of Scientific Discovery
The reason someone writes is in order to try and get a message or an idea across. For some topics its
easier than others, but when you re trying and prove the whole idea of discovery wrong it may be
more difficult. Thomas Kuhn writes Historical Structure of Scientific Discovery in an attempt to try
and convey his message that the timeline role of discovery is wrong. He denies the idea about how
some discoveries are misleading and make it seem they were found in a single moment. When you
write you must assume that anyone can read it, so you have to keep your audience in mind. Different
articles of science will bring in all kinds of readers. Not only was he writing to historians and
scientists, but to the general public, so he needed to structure his writing to appeal his audience. Kuhn
starts his project by letting readers know his purpose, he denies the idea of how an individual made a
discovery at any moment. He opens up the reading to show what he finds wrong, so the reader can
begin to paint a picture in their head. He gives his opinion on discovery and writes what he believes to
be true. He makes an attempt to put the reader in his place and see things from his input. When a
writer is able to put a reader in their shoes it becomes easier to perused them. What s different about
Kuhn s writing is the way he structures it. He breaks up topics into different subcategories each having
a subtitle. He lists off examples of discoveries that help to prove his point such as:

Cindy Eastwood s Case Study
Cindy Eastwood was a fifth grader who had moved from Boulder Elementary School in Montana all
the way to Orchard Hills Elementary School in Michigan for her mom s job. Cindy s parents had
relatives in Michigan who invited them to stay at their house until they found the right home to buy
since their family was really big. Throughout the weeks leading up to the first day of school, Cindy s
family had a limited amount of time trying to find the right house. Fast forward three weeks, the
Eastwood family had already bought their new home and registered for the upcoming school year.
School supply shopping had begun (which was Cindy s favorite thing to do), and they had already

After getting tired of being barked at, Cindy told her mom about the sticky situation and her mom

have to become friends with it. Friends? With the dog? Questioned Cindy. Never would she have
thought that she would have to be nice to a dog that seemed so scary and mean. Ok fine I ll see if I
could pet it tomorrow.. Friday arrived, and Cindy was approaching the spot where the dog would

My Life And Life Of A Missionary
I look back on my life and realize what a turbulent time I have lived through. Through all of this
religious turmoil and political strife I have not lost my faith. I am Yann Allaman and I was born in
1560 in Geneva. I am the only son of my two beloved parents and ever since I was young I knew that I
wanted to be a missionary. I am blessed to have been born into a Calvinist family, so that I could have
been raised according to God s law. Throughout my life I have spread this religion to as many heretics
as possible. Because of my devotion I began my preaching in Geneva, then I traveled to Kampan in
the revolting Dutch provinces to spread God s word there, and finally I have settled in New
Amsterdam, and continue to preach this very day, 1632. This memoir will not specifically be about
Calvinism since I have already written down my treatise in another text. It will be about my travels
throughout Europe and what I have seen. Geneva is the heart of Calvinism and where I was born, so I
do have a special connection to it. When I was growing up in Geneva we had the perfect kind of
governance in which the church leaders tried their best to insure that the conduct of God s people in
Geneva was holy and righteous with Calvin s guidance, Geneva s government became a theocracy
(Cole Symes) . Therefore people were prevented from consuming alcohol, dancing, card playing, and
more; in order to purify the town. My father was a minister in the Consistory and was very pious, so

Mountain Man Beer Company Case Reco
Recommendation for Mountain Man Beer Company (MMB)
Although the launch of a new product is always going to be a risk, banking on the withering demand
for a single offering is surely not going to alter the fortunes of the Mountain Man Beer Company.
More importantly, light beer is the largest sales opportunity and it is what the market demands,
therefore, to introduce the Mountain Man Light can be a gateway necessary for MMB to attract new
customers and expand its market. Here are a series of recommendations offering to the company in
order to help it successfully launch the Light beer.
First and foremost, it is strongly needed to do additional market research before MMB starts with new
product marketing plan. Several issues should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, as the Light brand gains market share locally it would grow in popularity through
untraditional advertising: grass roots marketing. And MMB has know for some time, word of mouth
(WOM) advertising is more effective than the traditional, lifestyle advertising other national beer
brands have used to reach young drinkers. MMB also would have strong brand strategy and visual
identification to brand the Light beer, which had achieved with the Lager product line.
Another way to promote the Light beer is sponsorship. MMB would target younger drinking aged
adults at sports venues, especially extreme sports events like rock band concerts, and events popular
with this segment. Sponsoring events where young drinkers are found would increase the likelihood of
grass roots marketing through WOM advertising after the event. Additionally, the marketing campaign
would need maintain the tough standard its Lager beer created while reaching a younger audience:
Mountain Man Light: 19th century tough. 21st century taste. Once an established market has been
tapped in West Virginia Light would need to make its way to other locales where Lager is already
popular: Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, etc. The key to this approach is creating a light beer that tastes good,
is inexpensive enough for younger drinkers to afford, while branding

1. The opening and closing paragraphs of the essay make the issue more personal. Bramson connects
the readers to these children, their community and the people in their lives that make it possible for
them to live close to normal lives. He then shifts the responsibility from the caretakers that are going
to get old, frail and fragile to the communities that have the means to help these people when family
members no longer can. The last paragraph gives them a real person, an example they cannot imagine

positive idea to reflect on instead of all the negative beliefs they have about these homes and people.

How Women Should Break the Glass Ceiling That Exists...
Social Stratification: How women should break the glass ceiling? The glass ceiling starts to form itself
very early on. Glass ceiling is one of the most compelling metaphors used for analyzing inequality
between men and women in the workplace. Appelbaum Chambliss (1997 : 232) describe the term
glass ceiling as a seemingly invisible barrier to movement into the very top positions at all levels of
employment in business and government, which makes it difficult for women to reach the top of their
professions. We have seen powerful women like Hillary Clinton enter high political positions. Janet
Reno was elected as the first woman Attorney General. Women such as Oprah Winfrey dominate the
entertainment industry. Oprah has overcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both must first believe that women are equal to men, and then they must act upon it. It is
possible. The glass ceiling can mean different things to different people. I do not feel that women and
other minorities should be given anything that is not deserved. Discrimination will never be totally
abolished, because it has been handed down for generations. The only way to break the glass ceiling is
through actions, not words. We have so much more control over the glass ceilings inside our brains
than the glass ceilings in our environment. And my belief is that any transformation must first start
from within. Be the change you wish to see in the world (Mahatma Gandhi), although I doubt he
would have thought it might apply to glass ceilings. Women are the first who need to change in this
situation in order for there to ever be a modification and a shatter of this glass ceiling. They must
believe that they can not only succeed, but also that they deserve a chance to succeed. Because the
notion that women do not belong in the workplace has been around for so long, women have started to
believe that they have no place in a career and at least have no place in the upper level, executive job.
Believing that they deserve a better job and equal treatment is the first step that a woman needs to
take. Although she will come across many men who will try to hold her back, a woman needs to press
on. Education also plays an

The Role Of Fate In Greek Mythology
When we look at Greek Mythology we often run into the gods of that era. Sometimes they are merely
backdrops to the human element of the story but in stories such as The Odyssey the gods play a
prominent if not vital role to the central themes of the story.
Fate has a place in the Greek world but is place is not the same as it is in other scenarios or worlds. It
is important to understand the word before we discuss it. Fate as far as Greek mythology goes is not
just fate, by most standards fate is described as things that occur for an unknown reason that no one
has any control over. However, in Greek Mythology fate simply does not just happen. The God s

That was his free will. Some say that the gods knew Odysseus would not stay and that is why they
decided to let him go. However, knowledge of an act doesn t take away the fact that Odysseus chose
himself. The gods took much of his life away and he had more reason than anyone to give up and say
to himself, This is my fate. Ann, a critic of The Odyssey says, Blaming the gods for your faults doesn t
always work, though. There s a difference between having a fate and accepting your fate. The real
heroes never give in. (Ann par. 26) That difference, between having fate and accepting it, is free will.
Once the gods have controlled the fate of certain people, the gods let the happenings take course. It is
true that the gods interfere with the lives of the people, but that will never take away their free will.
Zeus says it himself in the beginning of The Odyssey while talking to other gods upon Olympus, My
word how mortals take the gods to task! All their afflictions come from us, we hear. And what of their
own failings? (Homer 210) This statement by Zeus says that the people are indeed responsible for
themselves and they have the ability to make their own choices. Regarding the same verse Torrey
stated, This makes it seem that while men don t take responsibility in the Odyssey, the gods say they
should... (Philemon, par. 1) Zeus also gives us another good example in that same speech. Here Zeus

Similarities Between Of Mice And Men
John Steinbeck is considered one of the great American authors. His novels centered on the American
landscape, particularly California. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is a classic
American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. In 1992, a MGM
film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise was created. As with all book to film adaptations, many
people debate over which work is better. Some say that the book is better because it creates a mood of
darkness within the reader. Although both works convey their themes well, Steinbeck s novel has more
emotional impact on readers due to its setting and mood. The novel s setting exceeds the film s
because it is meaningful and symbolic. The author utilizes the California ... Show more content on

Characters are presented differently scene to scene to change the reader s perspective of them. For
example, in the film Curley s wife is depicted as a lonely housewife who is desperate to leave her
husband. Although this characterization is accurate, the novel provides a more complex view of her
because it shows how her frustration manifests itself in her treatment of others. One instance of her
pent up anger hurting others is when she verbally attacks Crooks. She declares, Listen, Nigger... You
know what I can do to you if you open your trap?...you keep your place, Nigger. I could get you strung
up on a tree so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck, 79). This moment of cruelty shows that Curley s
wife has been corrupted by the evil of the world. She hurts those who are lower than her on the social
hierarchy because she believes doing so will make people respect her. This shows that she is deeply
insecure of her place in the world. The reader comes to hate Curley s wife, until they learn more about
her life. She monologues about her dreams of becoming an actress before she dies, but her death is
optimistic and bitter sweet. The author states, ... the meanness and the plannings and the discontent
and the ache for attention were all gone from her face. She was

Gender Inequality In Latin American Culture
Gender Inequality in Latin American Culture
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold details how Latin American culture lead to
the murder of the character Santiago Nasar caused by a series of events. Marquez s depiction of the
patriarchal society in the novel reveals the role of men and women. In particular, family, men and
women expectations, honor, and sex portrayed in the novel are further utilized to reveal the
inequalities between both groups.
Consequently, Marquez recounts the traditional family in Columbian culture to unveil gender
expectations. At the beginning of the novel, for instance, Santiago Nasar s family viewed Santiago as a

that Pura Vicario and her husband accompanied [Angela] to watch over her honor when it was less

marriage communicating that her honor was actually her virginity rather to Beyardo, his honor
involves that virginity of the women in his family. Violence due to the loss of Angela s virginity is
evident when Beyardo returns her and her mother beats her up for disgracing her family . Imagery
incorporated describes how infuriated her mother really was because of the consequences to come
involving the critics in town. Moreover, the loss of Angela s virginity is what ultimately leads her twin
brother to seek revenge in order to restore her honor. The narrator clarifies this by revealing that the
twins were comforted by the honor of having done their duty . This helps clarify that the twins were
relieved and viewed the action as a duty rather than a murder, depicting the importance of killing

Wartime Propaganda During World War II
Wartime propaganda has always been a beneficial tool for warring nations. Its ability to effectively
persuade, influence, and convince citizens even in a time of distress has made it a vital component of
many war engaged countries. The United States, for example, reaped great benefits by using war
propaganda in World War II. American propaganda helped dramatically increase the sale of war
bonds, rate of civic engagement, and public morale. Although American propaganda during World
War II can be considered as extremely biased and racist, it would have been more difficult to for the
Americans to defeat Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany if propaganda was not used at all. The general

with boosting morale, many enthusiastic posters also encouraged women to join the workforce and to

racism and discrimination to foster enthusiasm. Many posters and videos were created demonizing the

Japanese Americans relationships on home soil. Americans started to discriminate Japanese even
more, eventually forcing them out of their homes and placing them in internment camps, where they

The Effect Of Changing Demand On Kokosing s Pricing...
Introduction Problem Statement This paper will study the effect of changing demand on Kokosing s
pricing strategy, specifically when conducting government funded projects. Background Kokosing
Construction Company is a large construction firm based in Ohio that primarily conducts highway
projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation (Kokosing, 2009). Due to the nature of the projects
conducted by Kokosing, the company s pricing strategy is unique since the projects must first be won
through bidding. Due to high competition and the nature of the projects, Kokosing essentially uses a
cost plus pricing strategy to determine their bids. Therefore, Kokosing has the ability to alter their
price and profit margin for each project. Moreover, this scenario is unique because Kokosing has the
opportunity to use the price to their advantage: during low demand they can decrease their profit
margin to win bids and gain projects and vice versa during peak demand. Thus, research will be
conducted to determine if demand truly does have an effect on Kokosing s pricing strategy and the
reasoning behind the strategy. Overview In order to investigate the problem statement, in section 2 the
theories of cost plus pricing and elasticity of demand will be defined and explained in depth.
Additionally, section 2 contains the discussion about how each theory addresses the problem
statement. Section 3 will contain the research conducted, specifically an overview of the information

Symbolism In To The Lighthouse
So waves do a couple things in To the Lighthouse. First, and most importantly, they are the drumbeat
of Time for Mrs. Ramsay. They are usually a soothing force, but they take on a more ominous tone
when they become synonymous with destruction. For Mr. Ramsay, waves are a destructive power
because they are part of the vast sea of human ignorance that eats away at a little spit of land
symbolizing human knowledge. We threw out the idea that waves are a negative force, but our trash
guy picked it up and threw it back at us. Smart man. How can you attach a value to the rhythm of life
itself? The waves represent flux you know, ups and downs, as well as forcibly reminding Mrs. Ramsay
of transience. Life, as well as waves, always goes on, but they re never the same. So, if you didn t pick
up on it by now, the impermanent waves are a counterpoint to the permanent light from the
Lighthouse.

As the most major symbol in To the Lighthouse, the Lighthouse is employed in the whole novel.
Different critics has different ideas on how to explain the symbolic meaning of the lighthouse. When
we see it associated with human life, the construction of the lighthouse does mean something. As a
building it is tall, huge and powerful on islands, meanwhile ,the lighthouse has not only light but also
darkness. During the day time the light turns off , but at night it helps the people who sail on the sea to

The Reign Of Louis Xv And Disappearing Toward The End Of...
Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century, Rococo
was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of Baroque. As
dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was beginning to become
stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was a chance for artistic styles
to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign, movement away from previously
mentioned artistic styles began. Taking up residence in Paris, the aristocracy abandoned the Palace of
Versailles. This move away from the monarchy in favor of the aristocracy can be seen in Rococo art,
as can other elements from the time period. The actual term, rococo, comes from the French word
rocaille, which means rock work . The Rococo style was given its name due to its reliance on
seashells, bits of rock, and other playful motifs for decorations. During his reign, Louis XIV

Civilian Criminal Process
A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CIVILIAN AND MILITARY CRIMINAL PROCEDURES
Introduction
When a crime has been committed, the case proceeds through the criminal justice system from
investigation and arrest through probation and parole. However, the process can vary wildly between a
civilian offender being tried at the local, state, or federal level and a military offender being tried in a
military court martial.
The Civilian Criminal Process
Pre Trial Procedure The civilian process begins with the investigation. Once an investigation is
cleared, warrants are issued and the police make an arrest. In some cases, such as when an officer
witnesses the crime taking place, the arrest may proceed the warrant or the case may go straight from
arrest to completion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is not a retrial. An appeal is merely a request to review the trial and how it was conducted.
If procedure was not followed at some point in the process or the defendant was not awarded full
Constitutional rights, a conviction could be overturned. Following the sentencing hearing, many
offenders will be classified and assigned to a specific corrections facility. Which facility is utilized
depends on local procedures, confinement facilities, and treatment programs. Common problems with
this post sentencing avenue includes lock psychosis (a preoccupation with security) and a severe

After RDH was taken over by HI, and since it was a Chinese hotel the its relationship with the

South Virginia s Coal Industry
The coal industry has helped fuel this nation for 150 years, and coal can be used to heat our homes,
power our economy, and protect our nation for at least another 150 years if we continue to use it. Tim
Murphy. Coal has an interesting history in West Virginia, which has contributed significantly to the
improvement and livelihood of West Virginians since its first discovery, which is now Boone County
in 1742 by Peter Salley, more than a century before West Virginia, became a state. The coal industry
has played a major role in the state s economic, political and community history. The industry has also
been a center of debate and the impact of unfounded criticism, giving rise to battles in the arenas of
labor, environment and safety. Since 1742, West Virginia has provided our nation and the world with
the finest coal found anywhere. As of today, West Virginia s coal miners apply useful and effective
mineral removal technology that makes other countries envy their counterparts around the world. West
Virginia s exports more coal than any other state in the country. West Virginia has more longwall
mining systems than any other state. This leads the nation in underground coal productions and sets
the pace for the rest of the industry in recovery and environment protection. At the same time, West

Essay on Scottish American Immigration
Scottish American Immigration
America was created by people who immigrated to the country over the years. One of the many
groups of people to come to America and help build into what she is today was the Scots. In order to
discuss the Scottish immigration you must understand why they immigrated, what type of prejudice
they faced, and what role the Scots now have in today s America. Though the Scots did not have the
influx of people immigrating as the Irish, Italian, or English they had a major influence on the
development of America.

Because of this many Scots did not face prejudice or discrimination and more Scots came to the New
World. So much so that at the time of our first federal census (1790) people of Scottish (including
Scottish Irish) origins made up more than six percent of the population. (geneologymagazine.com) By
the year 2000 approximately 1.5 million Scots have immigrated to America. (Gormley) So were the
Scottish discriminated against or did they discriminate. The truth of the matter is that though the
Scottish was not discriminated against, they did participate in discrimination. The Scottish was some
of the main farmers of cotton and tobacco. Because of this the Scottish owned many slaves and fought
to be able to keep the African Americans slaves. Their discrimination against this race would continue
well into the 1960 s. This would include discriminating against them in jobs, whether that being not
hiring because of color, or not promoting for the same reason.
For the most part the Scottish did real well for themselves once they were in America. A fair went on

Andrew Jackson there were a few more Scots to help sign the Declaration of Independence. Many
presidents later would be of Scottish decent. Many went on to become successful tobacco and cotton
farmers. Many went on to settle and discover the American West

Fear of Polio in the 1950s Essay examples
Fear of Polio in the 1950s Paralytic poliomyelitis, polio , held a reign of terror over this nation for
decades. But unless you were born before 1955, polio may seem to be just another ephemeral disease
that has been nonexistent for years. Those born before 1955 remember having a great fear of this
horrible disease which crippled thousands of once active, healthy children. This disease had no cure
and no identified causes, which made it all the more terrifying. People did everything that they had
done in the past to prevent the spread of disease, such as quarantining areas, but these tactics never
seemed to work. Polio could not be contained. Many people did not have the money to care for a
family member with polio. This was one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an attempt to control the disease, bewildered health officials reinstituted the usual rules of sanitation
which they would later learn had worsened the threat of polio. They advised against open drains and
unscreened windows. Parents were instructed to keep their children well bathed, well rested, well fed,
and away from crowds. Bathing suits were locked away in closets, and nobody went to the public
pools. When polio struck, movie theaters were shut, camps and schools were closed, drinking
fountains were abandoned, draft inductions suspended, and nonessential meetings were canceled until
the epidemic appeared to be over for the time being.[1] These precautions were harmless, but not
particularly helpful. In the past, these precautions proved very effective in stopping the spread of
diseases such as influenza and plague. For three decades now, people still did not know why they were
getting their disease. And for three decades now, doctors, epidemiologists, and laboratory researchers
were trying to figure out how the disease was spread.[2] Nobody has ever discovered completely how
it is that polio is spread. The best evidence suggests that the virus is excreted in the stool and passed
through hand to hand or hand to mouth contact by people who do not wash their hands properly or
often enough. It was during the first few years of the fifties and many years before then, that health

Testing is the process to execute the program and find the bugs and fix on the spot. It evaluates the
quality of the software, and done during the development and after the implementation process.
Software testing is the process of executing the program with intend to find the errors.
It is a verification and validation process.
Verification is the process which make sure the product to satisfy the specific requirements at the start
of the project.
Validation it is the process to make sure the product which satisfies the specific requirements at the
end of the development phase.
5.1 Software Testing Basics
In the start of testing process the basic and primary thing is requirements of development cycle, this
phase the testing will be easier for testing.
The quality and capacity of software can be examining by executing the code and check the code at
different conditions such as software testing by subjecting it to different sources as input and
evaluating the results with respect to the inputs.
There are two basics types of software testing.
Black box testing
White box testing
These two basic types of testing are explained at lower part of this chapter.
5.1.1 Functional and Non Functional Testing
Functional testing defines the specific function of a particular code in the program. The functional
testing gives us the information about the performance and security of a program.
Non functional testing defines the capabilities of a specific software, and it

Leadership Roles And Lead Teams During My Internship With...
This past summer, I was able to take leadership roles and lead teams during my internship with
Community Empowerment Solutions in Ecuador. It was during this experience where I began to see
my leadership skills unfold. One big critique of my leadership is that I can be mean. It was times when
my teammates weren t working hard enough or not moving where I wanted to be that I didn t know
how to communicate these problems in an efficient manner in order to get my point across. This
caused tension and bad chemistry in our group. In retrospect, I see that I was moving too fast and not
pausing to observe what was happening around me. I wasn t a critic of myself and I didn t take time to
assess my group or new ideas that they brought forward. I now see that when getting to an end point in
a project, one must always assess the environment and direction that the group is heading pivoting and
retracting when it s called for and efficiently communicating with teammates. One aspect of my
leadership that I think is a strength is being able to get rolling on a project. Facilitating ideas and
coming together to map out the direction of a project is something I excel at. I can assign roles that fit
people s skills and give them instruction on where they need to go. While I mentioned that, I need to
evaluate situations closer, I have the ability to move a team forward. During the summer, I was always
able to organize the team and get us started on our projects.

Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut
Love, Death, and War in J.D Salinger s
Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut
J.D Salinger was best known for his portrayal of isolationism and the loss of innocence in his literary
works. Like many Modern artists of the 1950 s, such as his good friend Ernest Hemmingway, Salinger
was highly interested in reflection of the individual as well as the disconnectedness between adults
and children (Calloway 3). In his short story, Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut , Salinger uses the themes
of love, death, and the war to reflect the emotional detachment between Eloise and her own life, as
well as her relationships with her husband and daughter.

abandons her critical nature and attitude when describing the man of her past, who made her laugh. He
could do it when he talked to me. He could do it over the phone. He could even do it in a letter. And
the best thing about it was that he didn t even try to be funny he just was funny (Salinger). The
language she uses gives the reader the image of her lying on her couch as she reminisces about her
past experiences with him. Salinger invites us into her emotional memory bank, and constructs the
dialogue within this very scene in such a way that places Eloise mentally by herself remembering
things that once made her happy, and making everything at that moment obsolete, in the same way a

Inclusion In The Inclusive Classroom
Inclusion has been a term stated several times in the past few years in the school system. However, do
you really know what this word means and what inclusion looks like in a classroom? According to the
book, The Inclusive Classroom, The term inclusion has been used to describe the education of
students with disabilities in general education settings (Mastropieri, pg. 6). This term simply means it
is the child s right to participate and the school s responsibility to accept the child in the general
education classroom. Furthermore, mainstreaming differs from inclusion because mainstreaming is
something students earn by demonstrating their skills were sufficient. A critical difference of inclusion
is the view of the general classroom as the primary placement for the student with disabilities, with
other special services regarded as ancillary (page 7). Inclusion plainly means integrating students with
disabilities into a setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

students in the classroom the teacher needs to consider the individual first. Full inclusion is seeing the
whole child in all aspects of life. It involves taking the genuine time to have conversations with the
students still professionally but on a personal level that is caring. Additionally, it is taking the effort to
reach the diversity of students in the classroom and making everyone feel welcomed when coming to

The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay
Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words:
If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter anything
in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator (qtd. in
Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source Language (SL)
to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from SL to TL, for exact
equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is both linguistic and
cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not merely lexical
equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each word is charged
with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full equivalence of a SL word in
another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth.
The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter
freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator is
not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he likes, and
that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation and it has to
and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as taking too much
liberty. In the name

Rain Or Snow By Thomas C. Frost

AP Eng. Lit. Period 3

Rain or Shine
Weather was used as a literary technique throughout the novel of Thomas C. Foster. It is not yet
explained until the ninth chapter titled Its More Than Just Rain or Snow . He begins with a very
common line among stories; It was a dark and stormy night. This ensures the same response from all
readers. Rain can be used to add dramatic effects to a scene which is why we all have the same
negative reaction to the phrase. The main idea Foster is trying to explain is that rain never means rain.
We sense that rain is always to be associated with negative feelings and or outcomes. Foster explains
that there is much more to it.
Rain can be used as a way to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be the lesser side of snows purpose to literature. It can also be used as a source of hope.
Snow actual can be useful if you are to bury yourself in it. It works as an insulator which can be used
to give a positive vibe by the written scenes involving it.
We have covered rain and snow. There s one that has been left out; fog. So far we have been blessed
with both rain and snow having negative and positive reflections on the scene. That is not the case
with this one. Fog is used to express uncertainty. The thicker the fog the less you can see literally but
in a figurative way an author can use it to show a tough decision needing to be made by a character or
an undetermined future or path. It can spark fear in the eyes of those surrounded by it. We, being
human, re scared of the unknown. Fog is the perfect way to display this lack of knowledge through the
use of weather. It blocks the light. We know that all things bad lie within darkness but the problem is
that we do not know what specifically is within it. This gives the author a chance to direct the story in
a new direction. It is an escape route in a way. Authors can use fog to divert the characters in a
different direction which results in an overall change of the plot.
There s more to weather than just cloudy days. The sun can be used to describe a sort of happiness
given off by a character. It can be used to show a positive take on an altered path. You can say that the
day went from

A Pro Versus Con Argumentative Article Essay
In America we currently have tax placed on our gas. However, with new changes in the automotive
industry, there have been ideas of changing the tax to a tax based on miles travelled rather than gas.
Mr. Earl Blumenauer and Mr. Phil Byrd both expressed their strong views on the topic in a pro versus
con argumentative article. Blumenauer and Byrd both built up their credibility by using strong
sources, including facts and statistics, and appealing to the readers emotions; however towards the end
of the article both sides had a slight flaw which weakened their credibility.
When analyzing both viewpoints of the topic, the credibility of the sources and appeals to ethos in the
article are very important. The pro side of the article was written by Earl Blumenauer, a sponsor for
the Road Usage Fee Pilot Program Act. After looking further into his profession, he works as a

Questions On Expectations Affect Your Experiences Essay
Did you know?
Expectations affect your experiences in life.
Meaning: Your outlook going into a situation will affect your outcome.
Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for
new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and
found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed
things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same
negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith
in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard
seed has grown into a plant taller than her.
A well know saying:
FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly
impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move
mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it.
Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have
faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will
move, and nothing will be impossible for you. What situation looks impossible to you?

Paradise Lost Character Analysis
In the story of Paradise Lost by John Milton, many of the fallen angels exhibit certain qualities that
could be interpreted as virtues. Some of these qualities include courage, justice, and perseverance.
However, many say these characters are meant to be portrayed as completely evil, which leaves a
reader wondering as to why they display a certain level of morality. It is obvious that the characters
believe that they have been wronged and are seeking justice for themselves against what they view as
a tyrant of the heavens. However, when reading the text, I noticed that John Milton gave the fallen
angels many human like qualities, making it impossible to have any wholly evil characters.
Throughout the entire story, Milton illustrates the fallen angels as having both physical and mental
resemblance to humans. He even goes as far as to discuss Satan s physiognomy in the first book,
saying, ...but his face deep scars of thunder had entrenched, and care sat on his faded cheek, but under
brows of dauntless courage, and considerate pride waiting revenge... (1. 600 604). This goes to show
that Milton at the very least has a picture of the fallen angels in his mind s eye as being human in
appearance. As well as this, Satan also brings up an interesting argument regarding the mind, asserting
that the mind if its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven (1. 254 255).
In this quote, he is essentially saying that attitude has everything to do with one s

an all seeing helmet. The innovation is a pilot commanding tablet that supervises all the controls in the
cockpit, also the helmet that creates a full angled view through a glass screen on the helmet in front of
the eyes. Boyle writes Equipped with a huge helmet and a handy wrist attached device, future fighter
pilots will have maps, surround sound, radar and infrared vision all at their fingertips even when they
re outside the cockpit. (Boyle par 1) In other words, the author is saying that each soldier will have
access and use of all command control technology at the swipe of a finger or touch even when they re
not inside of the fighter jet as long as they have the full angled helmet and touch screen device on
them. This is significant because it makes everything so much more easier for the soldier and less
dependent on movement to use the control panel rather than touching a touch screen placed on their
wrist. Also this is significant because the helmet is giving them a full length view 360 degrees. If the
United States military was to implement this technology in every soldier pilots jet fighter than the
military would have no other choice than to cut down two pilots and

  • 2. In The Time Of The Butterflies Expository Essay There are many instances of Foster s How to Read Literature Like a Professor being applicable to In the Time of the Butterflies. One such instance of this is the appearance of the bible in the novel. Religion had a large impact on the Mirabal sisters, especially Patria who was more in touch with her religion than the other sisters. This is increasingly apparent in her views of Pedrito who she calls her earthly groom. Also, Trujillo is similar to a god through his use of spies, through which he can see everything, and his authoritative rule over the Dominican Republic. Another instance of HTRLLAP being validated in In the Time of the Butterflies is through weather. The use of rain throughout the novel represents a transition. For example when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the novel Trujillo repeatedly can be compared to a god. Through the use of his spies and his authoritarian rule suggests he is trying to play the role of an unjust god. In Mama s house a portrait of El Jefe is hung next to a picture of Jesus. In chapter 4 while Minerva lies beside Patria , they look at the pictures and Minerva says They re a pair, aren t they? . She wonders why God would allow such a terrible man to rule their country. When she looks up again the two faces had merged, further validating the comparison between God and Trujillo. A similar merging of Trujillo occurs in chapter 6. The paper fans that the girls received at the party thrown by Trujillo have the Virgencita on one side and Trujillo on the other. Minerva states Sometimes it was El Jefe s probing eyes, sometimes it was the Virgin s pretty face I couldn t stand to look at. . This is one of the many instances of Trujillo being compared to a god. Trujillo also creates a slogan for himself, Dios e Trujillo, through which he tries to validate his rule through God. • 4. Table Tennis And Ping Pong Why is table table tennis so similar to ping pong? Well they are exactly the same thing! Table tennis/ ping pong began in the 1880s, and was later trademarked in the United states by Parker Brothers, the board game company. Like most other sports, table tennis had humble beginnings as a parlor game but really it was open to anyone with access to a table, paddle, and a ball. In 1922, The Ping Pong Association was formed but got renamed to The Table Tennis Association because they are the same thing. Over the years table tennis popularity grew, table tennis became so popular because In 1902 a visiting Japanese university professor took the game back to Japan, where he introduced it to university students. Shortly after, a British salesman, Edward Shires, introduced it to the people of Vienna and Budapest, [ . . . ]. Due to the popularity of table tennis and how successful it became it in 1902 the sport ended up going to Japan due to a Japanese University professor that was visiting. He liked the game so much that when he went back to Japan he introduced it to his university students. The sport also ended up going to Britain and spread pretty far to the Sunderland and Plymouth. In 1922, an All England Club was formed, which boasted such luminaries as Jack Hobbs the cricketer and other famous names of the time from the world of sport The sport was so popular it was like modern day drugs (DON T DO DRUGS! • 7. Thomas Kuhn s Theory Of Scientific Discovery The reason someone writes is in order to try and get a message or an idea across. For some topics its easier than others, but when you re trying and prove the whole idea of discovery wrong it may be more difficult. Thomas Kuhn writes Historical Structure of Scientific Discovery in an attempt to try and convey his message that the timeline role of discovery is wrong. He denies the idea about how some discoveries are misleading and make it seem they were found in a single moment. When you write you must assume that anyone can read it, so you have to keep your audience in mind. Different articles of science will bring in all kinds of readers. Not only was he writing to historians and scientists, but to the general public, so he needed to structure his writing to appeal his audience. Kuhn starts his project by letting readers know his purpose, he denies the idea of how an individual made a discovery at any moment. He opens up the reading to show what he finds wrong, so the reader can begin to paint a picture in their head. He gives his opinion on discovery and writes what he believes to be true. He makes an attempt to put the reader in his place and see things from his input. When a writer is able to put a reader in their shoes it becomes easier to perused them. What s different about Kuhn s writing is the way he structures it. He breaks up topics into different subcategories each having a subtitle. He lists off examples of discoveries that help to prove his point such as: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. My Life And Life Of A Missionary I look back on my life and realize what a turbulent time I have lived through. Through all of this religious turmoil and political strife I have not lost my faith. I am Yann Allaman and I was born in 1560 in Geneva. I am the only son of my two beloved parents and ever since I was young I knew that I wanted to be a missionary. I am blessed to have been born into a Calvinist family, so that I could have been raised according to God s law. Throughout my life I have spread this religion to as many heretics as possible. Because of my devotion I began my preaching in Geneva, then I traveled to Kampan in the revolting Dutch provinces to spread God s word there, and finally I have settled in New Amsterdam, and continue to preach this very day, 1632. This memoir will not specifically be about Calvinism since I have already written down my treatise in another text. It will be about my travels throughout Europe and what I have seen. Geneva is the heart of Calvinism and where I was born, so I do have a special connection to it. When I was growing up in Geneva we had the perfect kind of governance in which the church leaders tried their best to insure that the conduct of God s people in Geneva was holy and righteous with Calvin s guidance, Geneva s government became a theocracy (Cole Symes) . Therefore people were prevented from consuming alcohol, dancing, card playing, and more; in order to purify the town. My father was a minister in the Consistory and was very pious, so he ... At the same time, as the Light brand gains market share locally it would grow in popularity through untraditional advertising: grass roots marketing. And MMB has know for some time, word of mouth (WOM) advertising is more effective than the traditional, lifestyle advertising other national beer brands have used to reach young drinkers. MMB also would have strong brand strategy and visual identification to brand the Light beer, which had achieved with the Lager product line. Another way to promote the Light beer is sponsorship. MMB would target younger drinking aged adults at sports venues, especially extreme sports events like rock band concerts, and events popular with this segment. Sponsoring events where young drinkers are found would increase the likelihood of grass roots marketing through WOM advertising after the event. Additionally, the marketing campaign would need maintain the tough standard its Lager beer created while reaching a younger audience: Mountain Man Light: 19th century tough. 21st century taste. Once an established market has been tapped in West Virginia Light would need to make its way to other locales where Lager is already popular: Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, etc. The key to this approach is creating a light beer that tastes good, is inexpensive enough for younger drinkers to afford, while branding ... • 15. How Women Should Break the Glass Ceiling That Exists... Social Stratification: How women should break the glass ceiling? The glass ceiling starts to form itself very early on. Glass ceiling is one of the most compelling metaphors used for analyzing inequality between men and women in the workplace. Appelbaum Chambliss (1997 : 232) describe the term glass ceiling as a seemingly invisible barrier to movement into the very top positions at all levels of employment in business and government, which makes it difficult for women to reach the top of their professions. I do not feel that women and other minorities should be given anything that is not deserved. Discrimination will never be totally abolished, because it has been handed down for generations. The only way to break the glass ceiling is through actions, not words. We have so much more control over the glass ceilings inside our brains than the glass ceilings in our environment. And my belief is that any transformation must first start from within. Be the change you wish to see in the world (Mahatma Gandhi), although I doubt he would have thought it might apply to glass ceilings. Women are the first who need to change in this situation in order for there to ever be a modification and a shatter of this glass ceiling. They must believe that they can not only succeed, but also that they deserve a chance to succeed. Because the notion that women do not belong in the workplace has been around for so long, women have started to believe that they have no place in a career and at least have no place in the upper level, executive job. Believing that they deserve a better job and equal treatment is the first step that a woman needs to take. Sometimes they are merely backdrops to the human element of the story but in stories such as The Odyssey the gods play a prominent if not vital role to the central themes of the story. Fate has a place in the Greek world but is place is not the same as it is in other scenarios or worlds. It is important to understand the word before we discuss it. Fate as far as Greek mythology goes is not just fate, by most standards fate is described as things that occur for an unknown reason that no one has any control over. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is a classic American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. Introduction Problem Statement This paper will study the effect of changing demand on Kokosing s pricing strategy, specifically when conducting government funded projects. Background Kokosing Construction Company is a large construction firm based in Ohio that primarily conducts highway projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation (Kokosing, 2009). Due to the nature of the projects conducted by Kokosing, the company s pricing strategy is unique since the projects must first be won through bidding. Due to high competition and the nature of the projects, Kokosing essentially uses a cost plus pricing strategy to determine their bids. Therefore, Kokosing has the ability to alter their price and profit margin for each project. Moreover, this scenario is unique because Kokosing has the opportunity to use the price to their advantage: during low demand they can decrease their profit margin to win bids and gain projects and vice versa during peak demand. Thus, research will be conducted to determine if demand truly does have an effect on Kokosing s pricing strategy and the reasoning behind the strategy. Overview In order to investigate the problem statement, in section 2 the theories of cost plus pricing and elasticity of demand will be defined and explained in depth. Additionally, section 2 contains the discussion about how each theory addresses the problem statement. Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century, Rococo was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of Baroque. As dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was beginning to become stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was a chance for artistic styles to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign, movement away from previously mentioned artistic styles began. • 35. Inclusion In The Inclusive Classroom Inclusion has been a term stated several times in the past few years in the school system. However, do you really know what this word means and what inclusion looks like in a classroom? According to the book, The Inclusive Classroom, The term inclusion has been used to describe the education of students with disabilities in general education settings (Mastropieri, pg. 6). This term simply means it is the child s right to participate and the school s responsibility to accept the child in the general education classroom. Furthermore, mainstreaming differs from inclusion because mainstreaming is something students earn by demonstrating their skills were sufficient. A critical difference of inclusion is the view of the general classroom as the primary placement for the student with disabilities, with other special services regarded as ancillary (page 7). Inclusion plainly means integrating students with disabilities into a setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should go beyond that in the classroom and it is the teacher s goal to further the meaning in the classroom. Inclusion is not simply about physical proximity, it is about intentionally planning for the success of all students. The following quote elaborates past the context of inclusion. When including students in the classroom the teacher needs to consider the individual first. Full inclusion is seeing the whole child in all aspects of life. It involves taking the genuine time to have conversations with the students still professionally but on a personal level that is caring. Additionally, it is taking the effort to reach the diversity of students in the classroom and making everyone feel welcomed when coming to school. Full inclusion allows the students to create personal relationships with everyone and to be treated equally. They have the opportunity to be in the classroom setting all day with the assistance of special education teachers coming to the room if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Translator s Dilemma Of A Translator Essay Ages ago, Cicero summed up the translator s dilemma in the following words: If I render word for word, the result will sound uncouth and if compelled by necessity I alter anything in the order or wording, I shall seem to have departed from the function of a translator (qtd. in Bassnett 43). Translation in the first place, is transference of meaning from the Source Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL). But what matters is not a translation of words from SL to TL, for exact equivalence of words of the former is hard to get in the latter. Translation is both linguistic and cultural activity and it is concerned with communication of meaning. It is not merely lexical equivalent of words of one language to that of another, but much more. Since each word is charged with memory, associations and literary echoes, it is difficult to find full equivalence of a SL word in another word in TL. That is why, total or full translation is a myth. The translator has to make a balance between maintaining close fidelity to the original and utter freedom it. Sri Aurobindo is in favour of taking liberty with the original. He states that a translator is not necessarily bound to the original he chooses; he can make his own poem out of it, if he likes, and that is what is generally done (2). Translation is neither transliteration nor transcreation and it has to and it has to guard against the danger of word for word literal translation as well as taking too much liberty. In the name ... • 37. Rain Or Snow By Thomas C. Frost Hanna Myetich Mrs. Smith AP Eng. Lit. Period 3 September 20, 2017 Rain or Shine Weather was used as a literary technique throughout the novel of Thomas C. Foster. It is not yet explained until the ninth chapter titled Its More Than Just Rain or Snow . He begins with a very common line among stories; It was a dark and stormy night. This ensures the same response from all readers. Rain can be used to add dramatic effects to a scene which is why we all have the same negative reaction to the phrase. The main idea Foster is trying to explain is that rain never means rain. We sense that rain is always to be associated with negative feelings and or outcomes. Foster explains that there is much more to it. Rain can be used as a way to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would be the lesser side of snows purpose to literature. It can also be used as a source of hope. Snow actual can be useful if you are to bury yourself in it. It works as an insulator which can be used to give a positive vibe by the written scenes involving it. We have covered rain and snow. There s one that has been left out; fog. So far we have been blessed with both rain and snow having negative and positive reflections on the scene. That is not the case with this one. Fog is used to express uncertainty. The thicker the fog the less you can see literally but in a figurative way an author can use it to show a tough decision needing to be made by a character or an undetermined future or path. It can spark fear in the eyes of those surrounded by it. We, being human, re scared of the unknown. Fog is the perfect way to display this lack of knowledge through the use of weather. It blocks the light. We know that all things bad lie within darkness but the problem is that we do not know what specifically is within it. This gives the author a chance to direct the story in a new direction. It is an escape route in a way. Authors can use fog to divert the characters in a different direction which results in an overall change of the plot. There s more to weather than just cloudy days. The sun can be used to describe a sort of happiness given off by a character. It can be used to show a positive take on an altered path. You can say that the day went from

  • 40. A Pro Versus Con Argumentative Article Essay In America we currently have tax placed on our gas. However, with new changes in the automotive industry, there have been ideas of changing the tax to a tax based on miles travelled rather than gas. Mr. Earl Blumenauer and Mr. Phil Byrd both expressed their strong views on the topic in a pro versus con argumentative article. Blumenauer and Byrd both built up their credibility by using strong sources, including facts and statistics, and appealing to the readers emotions; however towards the end of the article both sides had a slight flaw which weakened their credibility. When analyzing both viewpoints of the topic, the credibility of the sources and appeals to ethos in the article are very important. The pro side of the article was written by Earl Blumenauer, a sponsor for the Road Usage Fee Pilot Program Act. After looking further into his profession, he works as a congressman for Oregon. Since he is only a sponsor for the program, there are unanswered questions as to if he is knowledgeable enough on the subject of these types of taxes. After further reading you learn that he actually used his job as a representative to introduce the Pilot Programming Act to congress. The program is taking place in Oregon, where they are beginning projects in hope of switching over to a tax on miles travelled rather than gas. Whereas, the con side was written by Phil Byrd, the chairman for the American Trucking Association and the president of Bulldog Hiway Express. He seems like the more ... • 41. Questions On Expectations Affect Your Experiences Essay Did you know? Expectations affect your experiences in life. Meaning: Your outlook going into a situation will affect your outcome. Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard seed has grown into a plant taller than her. A well know saying: FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it. Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. What situation looks impossible to you? Stupified! Twice in the bible, Jesus marveled and his chin hit the floor in shock at such great FAITH ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We talked about how Winston Churchill had to make certain decisions even though not all were good. After looking and seeing what his choices were and why, he asked us what would we do ? Looking at the early ages of Winston Churchill, he was born November 30, 1874 right in Blenheim Palace. His parents were never involved much in his life so his nanny, Mrs. Everest, took care of him. Churchill had graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1895, and from there he fought in Cuba, India, and Egypt. Churchill grew weary of being in the military, so he left in 1899 and ran for Parliament, which didn t turn out to well. After a couple tries, Churchill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Paradise Lost Character Analysis In the story of Paradise Lost by John Milton, many of the fallen angels exhibit certain qualities that could be interpreted as virtues. Some of these qualities include courage, justice, and perseverance. However, many say these characters are meant to be portrayed as completely evil, which leaves a reader wondering as to why they display a certain level of morality. It is obvious that the characters believe that they have been wronged and are seeking justice for themselves against what they view as a tyrant of the heavens. However, when reading the text, I noticed that John Milton gave the fallen angels many human like qualities, making it impossible to have any wholly evil characters. Throughout the entire story, Milton illustrates the fallen angels as having both physical and mental resemblance to humans. He even goes as far as to discuss Satan s physiognomy in the first book, saying, ...but his face deep scars of thunder had entrenched, and care sat on his faded cheek, but under brows of dauntless courage, and considerate pride waiting revenge... (1. 600 604). This goes to show that Milton at the very least has a picture of the fallen angels in his mind s eye as being human in appearance. As well as this, Satan also brings up an interesting argument regarding the mind, asserting that the mind if its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven (1. 254 255). In this quote, he is essentially saying that attitude has everything to do with one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Comparing The Immigrant Contribution And A Quilt Of A Country The two stories, The immigrant Contribution by John F. Kennedy, and A Quilt of a Country by Anna Quindlen are similar in many ways, but the passages are also very different from each other. Even though they are both the same type of writing, they both have very different approaches on how to get across their ideas to the reader. Quindlen who wrote A Quilt of a Country used a formal diction, whereas John F. Kennedy used a concrete diction in The immigrant Contribution . Kennedy makes it very clear that every American citizen has either been an immigrant or come from the descendants of immigrants. Unlike Kennedy, Anna Quindlen talks more about the ethnic groups that make up America. She also talks about terrorist attacks that happened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article Cockpit Controls Now Available As a Wrist Tablet and Mega Helmet written by Rebecca Boyle describes a new full length cockpit command mechanism controlled through a touch screen and an all seeing helmet. The innovation is a pilot commanding tablet that supervises all the controls in the cockpit, also the helmet that creates a full angled view through a glass screen on the helmet in front of the eyes. Boyle writes Equipped with a huge helmet and a handy wrist attached device, future fighter pilots will have maps, surround sound, radar and infrared vision all at their fingertips even when they re outside the cockpit. (Boyle par 1) In other words, the author is saying that each soldier will have access and use of all command control technology at the swipe of a finger or touch even when they re not inside of the fighter jet as long as they have the full angled helmet and touch screen device on them. This is significant because it makes everything so much more easier for the soldier and less dependent on movement to use the control panel rather than touching a touch screen placed on their wrist. Also this is significant because the helmet is giving them a full length view 360 degrees. If the United States military was to implement this technology in every soldier pilots jet fighter than the military would have no other choice than to cut down two pilots and ...
