Formal Essay Template
Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Formal Essay Template" can prove to be a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the necessity to adhere to the conventional structure of a
formal essay but also in the demand for a profound understanding of the topic itself. One must
navigate through the intricate web of introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, ensuring
that each section seamlessly contributes to the overall coherence and persuasiveness of the essay.
Establishing a compelling thesis statement becomes paramount, requiring a nuanced
understanding of the chosen template and its implications. Delving into the research phase to
gather relevant information and supporting evidence can be time-consuming, as it necessitates
sifting through various sources to discern credible and pertinent data.
Moreover, maintaining a formal tone throughout the essay while avoiding redundancy and
clichГ©s adds an additional layer of complexity. The challenge is not merely in presenting
information but in doing so in a manner that engages the reader intellectually and retains their
interest.
Structuring the essay in a logical sequence, where ideas flow seamlessly from one paragraph to
the next, is another hurdle. Each paragraph must contribute cohesively to the overarching
argument, making transitions smooth and ensuring the reader can follow the progression of ideas
effortlessly.
Editing and revising are integral parts of the writing process, and achieving precision in
language, grammar, and style further intensifies the difficulty. Striking a balance between
eloquence and conciseness is crucial, as verbosity can dilute the impact of the essay, while
brevity may sacrifice depth.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of crafting an essay on the topic of a "Formal Essay
Template" demands a multifaceted skill set. It involves not only understanding the nuances of
the template itself but also mastering the art of effective communication and persuasion. The
process requires diligence, critical thinking, and a commitment to refining each aspect of the
essay.

Self Esteem Essay
Can self esteem really engender success, or does it induce the well being of
individuals? By success, I mean academic achievement and a college degree. Self
esteem is crucial to the well being and happiness of individuals. However, too much
self esteem makes people become narcissistic, which is destructive and superfluous to
becoming successful. Therefore, self esteemcannot engender success, which is
corroborated with the self esteem movement, but it can cause the well being of
individuals.
The self esteem movement over the last few decades confirms that self esteem is not
essential to success and academic achievement. The self esteem movement started in
the 1960 s where people thought that therapy was okay. In the article, A Short... Show

This shows that a copious amount of students have described themselves above
average when there can only be half of them above average in order to maintain the
average. This means that a lot students have high self esteem and are becoming
narcissistic, which means that some of them would not get what they expected. The
students would either hurt themselves when they fail or hurt others with their
behavior if they succeed. Therefore, self esteem is dangerous and destructive. After
that, Kremer asserts, An intervention that encourages [students] to feel good about
themselves, regardless of work, may remove the reason to work hard, writes
Baumeister (3). This means students with high self esteem are hindered to work
hard because they are confident about their skills that they think they do not need
to work hard and be assiduous. This shows that self esteem is not crucial to success
and academic achievement. Although self esteem is not crucial for success and
academic achievement, it is essential for the well being of individuals. In the Ted
Talk, How to practice emotional first aid, Guy Winch states, We know from dozens
of studies that when your self esteem is lower, you are more vulnerable to stress

Descriptive Writing On An Invention
For the past five years my friends Tristen, Alice, Courtney, Leo, and I, Ruby, have
been working on an invention to help cure tons of diseases. We spent our hours
between classes, nights, and days working on Invention. After all the time working
and designing it, we hadn t put any thought into the name and started calling it
Invention. I had come up with the original design and idea for it, but none of us
had been able to get Invention to work. My dorm room had a special cabinet for all
of the prototypes we made of Invention, so far none of them had been able to work.
Courtney and Tristen called everyone together for another late night working on
Invention. We all met in the library that was on the college campus. I carried in my
bookbag and Invention, meeting Courtney, Alice, and Tristen who were seated at a
table in the back of the library.
Should we start without Leo? I sat Invention in the middle of the table carefully and
my book bag on the ground, leaning up against the chair I sat down in. My friends
nodded and started setting up the table with our supplies.
Alice pulled out three colored notebooks, setting them up on the table and I pulled
my laptop out of my backpack. Courtney and Tristen sat out a pack of paper that was
laminated with some of the designs they had come up with.
Before I knew it, it was almost three o clock in the morning. I had been able to go
over everything we had talked about and work on Invention. The last few hours of
the night were a blur, I was on the verge of falling asleep and eventually I did fall
asleep.
*******
I woke up later in the morning to Courtney yelling at me, Ruby, wake up! We almost
got Invention to work! Hurry up, everyone else is in the tech lab.
I bolted up and gathered all of my belongings. Courtney was already halfway across
the library by time I had gotten up from my spot.
Courtney and I hurried to the tech lab that was on the other side of campus. I felt
like I was sprinting as Courtney tugged at my arm for me to hurry up. Ten minutes
later we were standing outside of the tech lab. Courtney pushed the door open as fast
as possible and pulled me in with her. Invention was sitting in the middle of the room
as Alice, Leo, and Tristen were sitting on

Early Musical Instrument Project: Hurdy Gurdy Music has been a part of human
society for thousands of years, and in each time period, music has been an integral
part of culture. During the Middle Ages, numerous instruments were created for the
art of music making. One of these instruments is called the hurdy gurdy. Despite its
strange name, this instrument has stood the test of time and still attracts the attention
of music lovers today (Baines, Bowles, Green, 2001). The first known appearance of
the hurdy gurdy was in Europe during the 12th century. Specifically, earliest art pieces
of the hurdy gurdy are in various churches and cathedrals in Spain and in France.

For instance, in order to play the instrument, a wheel has to be turned. In the first
version of the instrument, there were 3 strings, and one person had to turn the
wheel while the other person would change notes on one melody string by pressing
levers (Baines et al., 2001). The wheel is rosined, like a violin bow, which allows
the strings to resonate as the wheel is turned (Montagu). In later versions, when the
hurdy gurdy was small enough to be played by one musician, the wheel is cranked
with the right hand while the left hand presses the levers. When one string is being
pressed, the other strings create a drone like sound that gives the impression that there
are more instruments playing (Burkholder, Grout, Palisca,

Throughout history; more specifically throughout different generations, we as human
beings have been subject to a certain amount of change within our society. As time

When asked about his sense of community during his childhood, my Grandfather
spoke about how much his family and his neighbours relied on each other to survive
and to keep each other in good spirits. They helped farm each others land and in the
end would split what was harvested. It was not until doing further research that it
became obvious to me just how important the interdependence of this tight knit
community was to their survival. Between 1943 and 1945 the Dutch people faced a
horrible famine that killed nearly 30,000 Dutch civilians which is an astronomical
number for a two years span. (Hitchcock, 98) Seeing as my Grandfather was so
young at the time he was not able to remember much about his times during the
war, so instead I conducted some research on what life might have been for a
Dutch civilian during that time period. During the war time the Dutch government
was completely ran by Nazis and as a result many rules were implemented that
were of little benefit to the people of the country. For example men from ages 18
35 were forced to work in munitions factories and do field work, Dutch people were
handed out ration cards that would limit the amount of food they could consume
within the week. (Van der Zee, 3) Evidently this was a difficult time for the Dutch
people so I decided to then change the topic of discussion and ask my Grandfather
about his teenage years. To kick off the discussion the

The task of implementing a protection scheme that will provide controlled access

ensure that the integrity as well as the availability of that file is maintained

UNIX files permissions falls short.
Groups
Creating and assigning users to groups in a protection scheme is not only a
recommendation but also a standard for control all modern operating system. Users
and machines alike can be assigned to groups and that group is then placed on ACLs
as if they are individual users. Every group member inherits all the permissions
granted to that group on the ACL. This assignment of users and machines to groups
will solve many problems when addressing security issues, one such issue would be
the assignment of permissions to massive number of people rather than individually
Groups permissions are managed by the ACL that grants the user the permissions
assigned by the ACL to take actions on objects. These permissions can be assigned
fixed actions for a given group. For example, a User in the Accounts group could
only submit, manage and view data pertaining to the accounts department. Someone
in the Sales group also would only be able to view customer information, add or
remove products or services from the customer account, etc. Permissions also can be
set where there is an all or nothing, parameter where a member of a group manages
files across multiple ACLs. For example the HR group can manage files associated
with all employees from every department. Actions and permissions assigned

Impacts Of The Great Depression
What was the Great Depression and what impact did it have? The Great Depression
was the worst economic situation known to man. It started in the late 1920s, 1929
1939 to be exact. It was the very first severe depression ever encountered to our
world. The impacts it had was that the stock market crashed harshly, there was bank
failures, and the government couldn t do much about it. Its not until Franklin D.
Roosevelttook charge and created a New Deal, unlike the previous president, Hubert
Hoover, he let our economy be in a complete state of depression.
What caused the horrific historical event, the Great Depression? There was plenty of

the 1930s. Sports and amusement parks were a great way of distraction but many
couldn t afford it since they were unemployed. No need to worry, those whom

Witchcraft In The Middle Ages
Witchcraft was, and still is the practice of magic, especially black magic with the
use of spells. Although many people did practice witchcraft (male or female), old,
poor, single or widowed ladies were usually accused to be witches in the Middle
Ages. Witchcraft in the Middle Ages was a controversial crime that was equally
punishable by poisoning. If one was accused of witchcraft, the charges could be
dropped by a relative s defence in a trial by combat, or by twelve people swearing an
oath of the accused s innocence.
Witchcraft in the Middle Ages was feared throughout Europe. Although there was no
definitive proof, magic was believed to be a creation of the devil and associated with
devil worship by many people. Most witches were thought ... Show more content on

Black Magic had more of an acquaintance with the devil and malicious worship. If
someone fell ill of unknown causes, this was often said to be caused by witches
who practised black magic. Other harms caused to society, such as accidents,
deaths, or bad luck, were also said to be caused by Black Magic. In other words,
things that had occurred for an unknown reason or reasons that no one wanted to
explain was assumed for black magic to be the cause.
The other type of magic is white magic. The source of White Magic was in
Christian symbolism, and it focused especially on nature and herbs. It was
acknowledged as the good type of magic. White magic was further used for good
luck, love spells, wealth and spells for good health. Astrology was another major
part of White Magic. Alchemy, which is known as the manner of creating potions,
was a portion of White Magic as well.
Throughout the Early Middle Ages, the Christian churches did not lead witch trials.
The Germanic Council of Paderborn in 785 explicitly banned the very belief in
witches, and the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne later approved the law.
Orthodox Eastern Christians concentrated in the Byzantine Empire, and faith in
sorcery was generally regarded as superstition. By the 9th and 10th centuries in the
Latin Christian West, belief in witchcraft had commenced being seen as heresy (to be
strongly at variance with established beliefs or
The Importance Of Lebanese Migration To Australia
The earliest recorded account of Lebanese people arriving to Australia was in the
late 19th century to escape and flee from the economic adversity and religious and
political discrimination under the Ottoman Empire. Victoria arose to see settlement
from Lebanon after about the 1880s. It is tough to be precise about the amount of
Lebanese settling as immigrants from Lebanon were variously confidential as Asian,
Turkish or Syrian until the 1950s. Nonetheless, it is identified that countless primary
migrants were single males or small clusters of males, eager to create money fast
and possibly return home. Several of the early Lebanese settlers in Victoria labored
as hawkers, purchasing their goods in Melbourne and vending them in rural regions.

Sacred Texture Analysis Essay
Introduction
To explore the use of innovation and creativity in leading the early Christian
communities from insular spirituality to a global social or religious force, I am
using the method of Sacred Texture Analysis. Analysis of sacred text is a way of
systemically probing dynamics across a spectrum of relationships between the
humans and the divine (Robbins, 1996, pg.4). The sacred texture of a text is the
formation and nurturing of religious community (Robbins, 1996, pg.127). Therefore,
socio rhetorical criticism extends intertextuality to include cultural discourse (Gowler,
1999, pg.197). So the challenge is how to understand Apostle Peter s organizational
leadership and then apply these concepts to today s organizational leadership. Below
are my insights according to Bible reading and extensive research of 1 and 2 Peter. In
carrying out his mission, Peter persistently had to struggle with questions of
leadership with creativity and innovation. In a very significant sense, he had to

verses to the elders but only a short verse to the young men due to the level of

Young men definitely need wisdom before going their own way when the right time

has influenced them and their churches, they can rethink what is important in their

6)CROWDFUNDING:
Crowd funding is a funding option by raising monetary contributions from large
number of people. It is based on three types of actors the project initiator who
proposes the idea to be funded, individuals or groups who support the idea and a
moderating organization that brings parties together to launch the idea.
ADVANTAGES:
It can be a fast way for the entrepreneur to raise funds for the business.
Crowd funding help you to get feedback and expert guidance on how to improve
your business.
It is a good way to test the public s reaction to your product/idea.
Your investors often become your loyal customers through the financing process.
It is more efficient than traditional options of fund raising.
DISADVANTAGES:
An entrepreneur need to do lot of work in building up interest before the product
launches.
If an entrepreneur have not protected its business idea with a patent or copyright,
someone may see and steal your concept.
If crowd funding campaign fails, the details will remain on the crowd funding

How Gender Dysphoria Is The Opposite Sex Essay
Chanel Johnson
Professor Becker
October 14, 2016
We are all given a choice on whether we would prefer to be bi sexual, gay, dress as
the opposite sex, or be in no romantic relationship at all. These are ideas that have
been displayed to us and most possibly thought it would be interesting to explore, or
simply felt as though this is how it was meant to be. Gender dysphoria has been
around much longer than individuals would think. The only difference now is that
more people are accepting of this lifestyle, and a greater amount of human beings
are opened to sharing about it. Gender Dysphoria is simply where an individual
who feels very strongly that they are not the gender they appear to be. It is
possible that a man would rather portray his life as a woman by dressing as one,
and acting as one. This will give him a purpose of feelings and life. A woman
would rather dress as a man, and resemble the life of a man also. There are many
individuals; such as parents, friends, and relatives who question this and ask if it s
just a phase? As you read my paper, we can determine if Gender Dysphoria is just a
phase or the actual reality. I want to start off by saying that Gender Dysphoria was
formerly known as Gender Identity Disorder. The classifications of being considered
to have gender dysphoria today would be that an individual would have to display a
heavy and constant desire to cross gender. Typically, with younger children this
feeling is shown by

Stockhausen Life and Works
Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen was born August 22, 1928 in the small town of
Mödrath located just west of Cologne Germany. He was the first child of three
born to Simon and Gertrud Stockhausen. Early in his life, the Stockhausen family
struggled financially. Germany was in a low point of stability after WWI and most
people had trouble making ends meet. Simon Stockhausen, a teacher at the time, was
forced to move from one temporary post to another on average twice a year.
Unfortunately in 1932 when he was four years old, Stockhausen s mother Gertrud
was committed into a sanatorium. This was likely due to the depression she
encountered associated with the instability, poverty, and having three children so
close to one another. In 1935 Shortly after his wife became ill, Simon Stockhausen
was promoted to head teacher at a small village school located in Altenburg. The
newly formed Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler used him in this position to influence
the local community by spreading propaganda and organizing fundraisers for the new
movement. Karlheinz Stockhausenshowed an early interest in musicand the family
piano. The family also owned a radio that young Stockhausen listened to and
attempted to imitate. When he was seven, Karlheinz was enrolled in school and
began his first piano lessons with the organist of the local Protestant church. He
practiced often and learned to play back music he heard on the radio.
In 1939 Karlheinz was refused admission to an elite high
Technology Revealed In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The Consequences of Technology Revealed in Shelley s Frankenstein In Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein, written in the late nineteenth century, the author proposes
that knowledge and technology can be dangerous to individuals and all of
humanity. Frankenstein was one of the first cautionary tales about scientific
research. Shelley s novel offers profound insight of the consequences of morally
insensitive scientific and technological research. Learn from me. . . at least by my
example, how dangerous is the acquirement of knowledge and how much happier
that man is who believes his native town to be the world, than he who aspires to
become greater than his nature will allow (Shelley 101) The popular belief of how
Frankenstein came to be written derives from Shelley herself, who explains in an
introduction to the novel that she, her husband Percy Shelly, and Lord Byron set
themselves the task of creating ghost stories during a short vacation at a European
villa. According to Shelley, the short story she conceived was predicated of the
notion as the eighteenth became the nineteenth century that electricity could be a
catalyst of life. In her introduction she recalls the talk about Erasmus Darwin, who
had preserved a piece of vermicelli in a glass case, till by some extraordinary means
it began to move with voluntary motion, (Joseph vii). The extraordinary means forms
the basis for Frankenstein. Many people also believe that a
Financial Aspects Of The Economy
Financial aspects essentially concentrates on how laws and government approaches
sway the economy. A lot of this takes a gander at duties particularly and all the more
for the most part the general population money, which incorporates the spending and
borrowing that the government does. The root expression of financial aspects is the
economy. Economy originates from the Greek oikos home and nomos overseeing.
Economy can be portrayed as the present soundness of monetary markers, for
example, employments and occupation development, financial profitability and yield,
and can likewise be measured by an immense scope of different elements. For
example, the exchange shortage, national obligation, GDP, and unemployment rates.
In this paper, the impacts of the moneyrelated arrangement on macroeconomics, GDP,
unemployment, inflationand loan fees will be discussed. Throughout the paper,
clarifications on how cash is made will be given alongside examining what fiscal
approaches will accomplish the objective of financial development, low inflation, and
a sensible rate of unemployment, what mix of money related strategies will better
perform this objective. The goals of monetary policyare rather straightforward. One
objective of the Federal Reserve, generally known as the Fed, is to influence the
monetary creation and occupation, both of which rely on numerous different
components. They are affected by monetary policy, meaning that when the demand of
something weakens, the fed

Charlotte Bronte s Use Of Sexism In Jane Eyre
Charlotte BrontС‘, the author of Jane Eyre has used the art of her writing to
compose a novel considered to be a feminist novel, along with raising points about
the sexism of women in Victorian society. Within the thirty eight chapters of this
novel discussing the protagonist Jane Eyre s, coming of age story, BrontС‘ not
only discusses the hardship of Jane s life, but the battles she and other female
characters, such as Miss Temple face in this book by being belittled for their

This is because it is evident that since John is a male, his actions regardless get the
benefit of the doubt, as Jane declares, The servants did not like to offend their

female to daresay criticise a males actions during Victorian society is wrong, as
Miss Abbot states, For shame! For shame! What a shocking conduct, Miss Eyre, to
strike a young gentleman, your benefactress s son! Your young master . BrontС‘
brought forth that women in Victorian society had standards that they had to meet
in ordered to be respected, as Mr. Lloyd (in regards to Jane) declares that, If she
were a nice, pretty child, one might compassionate her forlornness; but one really
cannot care for such a little toad as that . Bessy then replies with, A beauty more
like Miss Georgiana would be more moving in the same condition , which proves
that women who were defined as pretty , automatically were reassured if they were
supposedly forlorn or if they made supposed bad
Personal Note On Time Management And Leisure
I recorded and tracked my time for a week and as I was totaling up my hours for
each block of time used in similar tasks I soon realized a trend. I love to sleep and I
love to be social. Community service and religion was absent in my totaled hours.
Time management and leisure are very closely related. With the help of a time use
calendar, I plan to better balance my time in the future. My initial observations of
sleeping or napping were not surprising because we all need it. Second, I realized
that I am an incredibly social person more than I thought I was. For the most part, I
love to be with my friends, my family, and with my significant other. The third
place I significantly spend my time is at work, I was surprised it was not school. I
was shocked to find that I did not spend a lot of time doing homework as much as I
initially thought. I spend just as much time driving as I do getting ready. I hope
technology advances with self driving cars so I can get ready on my way to work
and school, which would kill two birds with one stone. I don t feel wasteful of my
time because it seems I don t watch as much television as I thought I did. I can
however, use my time more wisely in using more hours to study and do homework
over the weekend than to be socializing as much as I do. I seem to binge socialize
from Thursday through Sunday. I can balance that out if I socialize throughout the
week and leave some time to do my homework in the weekend. I noticed that I hardly

Purpose Of Immortality In Ancient Egyptian Religion
Purpose of Immortality Out of all things, there is usually one aspect of life that may
bring people together and bring consistency to their lives religion. There are a wide
variety of different religions, yet many of them contain overlapping beliefs and
concepts, including life after death, and it does not matter whether or not these
religions are monotheistic or polytheistic. As a result, people may have a general
notion of death, however, what many do not realize is that these religions support the
idea of immortality. Although there is a contradiction when religions tell people that
death is inevitable yet that they are also immortal, it is true because many religions
have the idea of life after death, proving that immortality exists.... Show more content

That being said, it is clear to see that Ancient Egyptians did believe in immortality,
but to add to this, the fact that one of the many death rites includes mummification,
further extends the concept of immortality because of the fact that the purpose of it
is to preserve the bodies. On another note, The Book of the Dead provided
instructions and access to magical power to assist the deceased in his passage to the
afterlife and in his existence there (184). This is because of the fact that living well
off was a very important aspect of the Ancient Egyptian religion. They wanted their
paradise and afterlife to seem appealing because they do not want people to not enjoy
themselves once they have died. It is very important to them to keep these souls
content and happy for a reason, hence the fact that they have offerings for the dead.
With this, they are able to keep the faith in happiness after death alive, to help them
understand death
The history of Rooster Teeth Production, LLC.
Part One: Background and History Rooster Teeth Productions, LLC. is a
production company based in Austin, Texas. It was officially established April 1st,
2003; although, the company made video production content, such as parodies and
short movies, before then. The history of Rooster Teeth starts at the University of
Texas in the mid 1990s. Three friends, Michael Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, and
Joel Heyman were friends who attended the university in Austin. They were not the
best students, and they were worried the high paying technology jobs, that were
growing increasingly popular at the time, were out of their reach. So, as an attempt
to get themselves noticed in the industry, they decided to make a short film
together. The film was called The Schedule; Burns and Hullum directed it while
Heyman played the lead role. The three of them brought their film to several
festivals, and they received some minor recognition. In fact, it prompted Heyman to
move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting, and Hullum decided to follow his
heart (i.e. Joel) (roosterteeth.com) and decided to move there as well to work in
visual effects. Burns stayed in Austin, where he started working at a tech support
center, and where he eventually became Director of Operations. At this point in time,
three key players who would eventually form Rooster Teeth were separated from
each other, and they could have feasibly spent the rest of their lives this way.

Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets
Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love
confessions and tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche
topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not
defined by these archetypal features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and
Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical sonnets. However both poems differ, as
Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and parodies the classic
subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while
Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the
strictness of sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules.
Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the
Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet
form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument
on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The
sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, adhering to the rhythm of the iambic
pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English
sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the general
sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan
style, as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a
stanza of six lines, in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor
does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn
in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins
begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at
Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems
parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways.
Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets
about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through
unpleasant ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty
of their lover through

Introduction:
Oxidation involves the gain of electrons of hydrogen or the loss of oxygen or
decrease in oxidation state. If zinc completely reacts with HCL, then the theoretical
yield of copper should be equivalent to the actual yield.
Purpose:
In this lab, we will determine the percent composition of a modern (post 1982)
penny by using a strong acid to react and dissolve the zinc core, leaving only the
copper coating. Once only copper remains, we will compare its mass to the entire
mass of the penny to determine how much of a penny is copper and how much is zinc.

Comparing Quickdraw with in Paris with You Essay
How do the Poets James Fenton and Carol Ann Duffy Present the Pain of Love in
their Poems In Paris with You and Quickdraw ?
James Fenton and Carol Ann Duffy are both contemporary poets. Their poems In
Paris with You and Quickdraw both include the themes of the pain of love. This
essay compares how the two poets present the pain of love in their poems, exploring
things such as imagery, vocabulary and form and structure.
One way in which the poets present their ideas about the pain of love is through
their use of imagery with their poems. For example, they both use metaphors about
being wounded . Fenton s line I m one of your talking wounded adopts a pun which
relates to the expression walking wounded , used by soldiers to imply ... Show more

Although Fenton s and Duffy s structures differ in places, they are also similar in
some ways too. For instance, both poems include repetitions. In Quickdraw , Duffy
writes Take this...and this...and this...and this...and this... . This is meant to represent
her partner shooting her again and again; in reality, he is saying many mean things to
her, and hurting her further each time he says something. Similarly, Fenton repeats
the phrase I m in Paris with you , which suggests that no matter what the couple have
been through in the past, the fact that they are together is the only thing that matters.
Also, the word Paris may have a double meaning of love in the phrase. This is
backed up in the last stanza in the last stanza of the poem, when Fenton writes I m
in Paris with the slightest thing you do , which would mean I m in love with the
slightest thing you do . Fenton may have used the word Paris instead of love
because he is to afraid to speak of his love for her because of the possible
consequences that he may eventually face, or he may have just used it because Paris
is a city associated with love and romance.
The language styles of the two poets differ in their poems. For example, Fenton
writes In Paris with You in the first person. He also uses many imperatives, such as
Don t talk to me of love . This suggests that Fenton has almost become afraid of the
word love , as he
Immigration Is A Big Problem
Immigration is a big problem in the United States. This paper analysis the people
immigrate to U.S. in legal and illegal ways and the cause of it are the safe and
economic problems in their home country. The legal immigrants can have most of
the same rights as a U.S. citizens and have more opportunities. However, illegal
immigrants don t have the same right and also increase the criminal problem in the
U.S. . The cost of illegal immigrationcontrol is the serious problem for United Stated
government. The conclusion is government need to make the immigration process
easier and provide them benefit for immigrants. The increase of legal immigration
willingness can decrease the illegal immigrants number. There were over 40 million
immigrants lived in the United States in 2013 and the population of immigration
keeps increasing. For safety and economic problems people leave their home town
and move to other countries for a better life. This immigration upsurge brings the
American government a new problem because not all of the immigrants come to
other countries with a legal identity. Some of them probably can t afford the
expense to immigrate with legal identity, and some of them move to other countries
for special reasons. Immigrating to other places means people can have a better job
opportunity and even higher wages. However, illegal immigrants should not be made
legal citizens. People move to U.S. for job and better living environment. U.S. is a

Sweatshops In America
In last week s meeting in Canada, the Group of Eight industrial nations grappled
with the question of how to better economic conditions in poor nations. One
powerful means would be to improve the conditions of workers in sweatshops. Two
billion people in the world make less than two American dollars a day. As voters and
consumers of sweatshopproducts, Americans can make a difference in ending the
miserable conditions under which these people work.
Some argue that sweatshops are simply a step up a ladder toward the next
generation s success: the garment worker at her loom is carrying out some objective
law of development, or the young girl making toys for our children is breaking out of
male dominated feudalism. This line of thinking recalls ... Show more content on

Don t we have the consumer and political power to pressure our corporations to end
sweatshop wages paid to the people who make these goods? These workers are not
demanding stock options and Jazzercise studios. Women in Bangladesh say they
could care for their children if their wages rose to 34 cents an hour, two tenths of 1
percent of the retail price of the Harvard hat.
Some economists argue that even the most exploited and impoverished workers are
better off than those who are unemployed or trapped in slave labor. But that argument
is not about offering anyone a ladder up, but about which ring of Dante s inferno
people in developing nations are consigned to. We don t want Disney, Mattel, Wal
Mart or other major American companies to leave the developing world. We simply
want to end the race to the bottom in which companies force countries to compete in
offering the lowest wages for their people s labor. There should be a floor beneath
which no one has to
The Power of the Written World
I think the most beautiful thing about the written word is that there s really no limit
to the power it possesses. Every day we re influenced and intrigued by the things
we read, and inspired to write the words that nobody else wants to say. This is the
kind of life that I could see myself pursuing and I couldn t see a place better fit to
learn such things than at university studying Creative Writingand Drama beside others
who share my desire.
It s possible to state that I have a keen interest in reading, though I wouldn t use
that term myself because the affinity I have for reading isn t exactly common. My
love of books stems from the fact that people can be completely lost in these
fictional universes, and that there s a way to find solace in one s imagination. This
is something that I ve always had an interest in, but over the past 5 years it s grown
in to something truly special. I enjoy reading a range of books, but my favourite
genre is dystopian (specifically, but not exclusively, teen fiction) by far as it always
seems to explore complex issues that are relevant no matter the age; corruption, the
meaning of freedom etc.
There are quite many aspects of this course that interest me, the main one being my
love of writing. I ve been on a few writing courses, the most notable being the
Summer school for Poetry and Prose held at the University and College of London. It
took part over three days and showed me the beauty of classic fiction works by the

Rule And Act Utilitarianism Essay
Rule and Act Utilitarianism
Utilitarianism is the ethical theory that an action s right or wrong depends on the
outcome or consequences of it. Utilitarians believe that the main point of the theory
is that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as
they tend to produce reverse of happiness, (The Ethical Life, p. 97). They believed
that life was better if the amount of happiness and pleasure would be increased but
that no one s happiness was more important than someone else s. According to act
utilitarianism, an action is morally required just because it does more to improve
overall well being that any other acction you could have done in the circumstances,
(Fundamentals of Ethics, p. 123). In other words, an action is morally good if it
creates a large amount of happiness and is wrong if it causes unhappiness. On the
other hand, rule utilitarianism is the belief that an action is morally good depending
on the correctness of the rules whose goal is to achieve the greatest amount of
happiness.
On the scenarion given, I believe that the rule utilitarian would think about choosing
the second patient for their study and an act utilitarian will choose the first patient. In
the case of the first patient, who is a genetics researcher working on a multi year
research in malaria, an act utilitarian would think that choosing that person would be
morally right because if the drug is used on her the value of the consequences would
be greater. Since she is a genetics researcher she can contribute to the expansion of
this new medication and that will increase the amount of happiness that it can bring
to other people. In rule utilitarianism, an action is considered right only if it follows
the rules but also creating the greatest happiness. So in the other case, a rule
utilitarian would think that giving the experimental drug to the second patient would
be morally right because that s the only way of his ooportunity to recover. According
to Shaffer Landau, Utilitarianism claims that my happiness is no more than yours,
meaning that the decision wouldn t be taken thinking about the patients happiness,
instead they think about the consequences.
The main core of utilitarianism is that an
Analyzing The African Art Galleries On The Metropolitan...
This paper will be describing and analyzing the African Art Galleries in the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. The galleries that will be critiqued in this paper are
350, 351, and 352. Gallery 350 (Samuel H. and Linda M. Lindenbaum Gallery) is
an averaged size rectangular room that spans about the length of a sidewalk. The
gallery contains several carved wooden sculptures, primarily located in the center
of the gallery that immediately take over upon entering. While most objects are
not enclosed in cases and are instead freestanding, some works such as the Senufo
Face Mask are not freestanding and are supported by a wall in a case allowing for
frontal viewing. The Bozo door has a slight relief and can be viewed frontally as it
hangs on the wall. Some freestanding works are displayed in cases that are built
into the walls of the gallery, which limits the individual s ability to view the work all
the way around. Though external lights bring some brightness into the gallery, they
seem to add a muted sepia tone to the room. In the cases against the walls, the lights

kingdom, seducing many different men across. The time of singing is upon the
people and spring arrives. The man and woman are very happy with each other;
they continue to speak with each other on where their heart sets. The women begin
to notice many different things from the forest, and she notices that it is Solomon.
The woman is very interested in what Solomon has to offer. I m quite confused, I
can t tell if she was talking to herself during that episode or talking to someone else.
The woman is very worried that her beloved is near and thrills her with love. She
begins to imagine many different outcomes that include her beloved. I m not sure
who her beloved is or what it is at that matter. Songs of Songs is the exact same
story over and over and over again. The city is now lonely, but the people of the
provinces have become slaves. Judah is now in exile and the woman dread what
might come upon the nations next. Jerusalem s people fell into sin and became
filthy. God has killed everyone who was good in our eyes but not in his, Zion begins
to talk bad

One Child Policy Synthesis Essay
1.Synthesis The issue of child policy has been approached from very different
perspective and some have even remained at the center very confused on which side
to support or condemn. The supporters have urged that this measure was essential for
the economic growth of china. In science, modernity and making of china`s one child
policy Greenhalgh states that the one child policy represents an extraordinary attempt
to engineer national wealth, power and global standing (163).She further improves
her credibility by using statistical data to support her claim. On the contrary, authors
such as Hesketh and Wang Feng state that the imbalance that the one child has caused
in China have far outweighed its benefits. Other scholars such as that Mrs. And Mr.
Ehlrich have approached this issue of a whole different perspective. In their article
the population explosion they argue that; The key to understanding population is not
the population density but the number of people in the area relative to its resources.

Formal Essay Template

  • 1. Formal Essay Template Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Formal Essay Template" can prove to be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the necessity to adhere to the conventional structure of a formal essay but also in the demand for a profound understanding of the topic itself. One must navigate through the intricate web of introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, ensuring that each section seamlessly contributes to the overall coherence and persuasiveness of the essay. Establishing a compelling thesis statement becomes paramount, requiring a nuanced understanding of the chosen template and its implications. Delving into the research phase to gather relevant information and supporting evidence can be time-consuming, as it necessitates sifting through various sources to discern credible and pertinent data. Moreover, maintaining a formal tone throughout the essay while avoiding redundancy and clichГ©s adds an additional layer of complexity. The challenge is not merely in presenting information but in doing so in a manner that engages the reader intellectually and retains their interest. Structuring the essay in a logical sequence, where ideas flow seamlessly from one paragraph to the next, is another hurdle. Each paragraph must contribute cohesively to the overarching argument, making transitions smooth and ensuring the reader can follow the progression of ideas effortlessly. Editing and revising are integral parts of the writing process, and achieving precision in language, grammar, and style further intensifies the difficulty. Striking a balance between eloquence and conciseness is crucial, as verbosity can dilute the impact of the essay, while brevity may sacrifice depth. In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of crafting an essay on the topic of a "Formal Essay Template" demands a multifaceted skill set. It involves not only understanding the nuances of the template itself but also mastering the art of effective communication and persuasion. The process requires diligence, critical thinking, and a commitment to refining each aspect of the essay. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and more comprehensive support can be accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, where expert guidance is available to streamline the essay-writing process. • 2. Self Esteem Essay Can self esteem really engender success, or does it induce the well being of individuals? By success, I mean academic achievement and a college degree. Self esteem is crucial to the well being and happiness of individuals. However, too much self esteem makes people become narcissistic, which is destructive and superfluous to becoming successful. Therefore, self esteemcannot engender success, which is corroborated with the self esteem movement, but it can cause the well being of individuals. The self esteem movement over the last few decades confirms that self esteem is not essential to success and academic achievement. The self esteem movement started in the 1960 s where people thought that therapy was okay. In the article, A Short... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that a copious amount of students have described themselves above average when there can only be half of them above average in order to maintain the average. This means that a lot students have high self esteem and are becoming narcissistic, which means that some of them would not get what they expected. The students would either hurt themselves when they fail or hurt others with their behavior if they succeed. Therefore, self esteem is dangerous and destructive. After that, Kremer asserts, An intervention that encourages [students] to feel good about themselves, regardless of work, may remove the reason to work hard, writes Baumeister (3). This means students with high self esteem are hindered to work hard because they are confident about their skills that they think they do not need to work hard and be assiduous. This shows that self esteem is not crucial to success and academic achievement. Although self esteem is not crucial for success and academic achievement, it is essential for the well being of individuals. In the Ted Talk, How to practice emotional first aid, Guy Winch states, We know from dozens of studies that when your self esteem is lower, you are more vulnerable to stress and anxiety (13:07). This means that people with low self esteem are more likely to experience a lot stress and have
  • 3. Descriptive Writing On An Invention For the past five years my friends Tristen, Alice, Courtney, Leo, and I, Ruby, have been working on an invention to help cure tons of diseases. We spent our hours between classes, nights, and days working on Invention. After all the time working and designing it, we hadn t put any thought into the name and started calling it Invention. I had come up with the original design and idea for it, but none of us had been able to get Invention to work. My dorm room had a special cabinet for all of the prototypes we made of Invention, so far none of them had been able to work. Courtney and Tristen called everyone together for another late night working on Invention. We all met in the library that was on the college campus. I carried in my bookbag and Invention, meeting Courtney, Alice, and Tristen who were seated at a table in the back of the library. Should we start without Leo? I sat Invention in the middle of the table carefully and my book bag on the ground, leaning up against the chair I sat down in. My friends nodded and started setting up the table with our supplies. Alice pulled out three colored notebooks, setting them up on the table and I pulled my laptop out of my backpack. Courtney and Tristen sat out a pack of paper that was laminated with some of the designs they had come up with. Before I knew it, it was almost three o clock in the morning. I had been able to go over everything we had talked about and work on Invention. The last few hours of the night were a blur, I was on the verge of falling asleep and eventually I did fall asleep. ******* I woke up later in the morning to Courtney yelling at me, Ruby, wake up! We almost got Invention to work! Hurry up, everyone else is in the tech lab. I bolted up and gathered all of my belongings. Courtney was already halfway across the library by time I had gotten up from my spot. Courtney and I hurried to the tech lab that was on the other side of campus. I felt like I was sprinting as Courtney tugged at my arm for me to hurry up. Ten minutes later we were standing outside of the tech lab. Courtney pushed the door open as fast as possible and pulled me in with her. Invention was sitting in the middle of the room as Alice, Leo, and Tristen were sitting on
  • 4. Hurdy Research Paper Deborah Wu Early Musical Instrument Project: Hurdy Gurdy Music has been a part of human society for thousands of years, and in each time period, music has been an integral part of culture. During the Middle Ages, numerous instruments were created for the art of music making. One of these instruments is called the hurdy gurdy. Despite its strange name, this instrument has stood the test of time and still attracts the attention of music lovers today (Baines, Bowles, Green, 2001). The first known appearance of the hurdy gurdy was in Europe during the 12th century. Specifically, earliest art pieces of the hurdy gurdy are in various churches and cathedrals in Spain and in France. While there are speculations that the instrument may have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in order to play the instrument, a wheel has to be turned. In the first version of the instrument, there were 3 strings, and one person had to turn the wheel while the other person would change notes on one melody string by pressing levers (Baines et al., 2001). The wheel is rosined, like a violin bow, which allows the strings to resonate as the wheel is turned (Montagu). In later versions, when the hurdy gurdy was small enough to be played by one musician, the wheel is cranked with the right hand while the left hand presses the levers. When one string is being pressed, the other strings create a drone like sound that gives the impression that there are more instruments playing (Burkholder, Grout, Palisca,
  • 5. Essay about Inter Generational Interview Intergenerational Interview Report The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Alan Watts Throughout history; more specifically throughout different generations, we as human beings have been subject to a certain amount of change within our society. As time goes by change is almost inevitable among a nation. Change has occurred throughout history due to specific events that have a ripple effect upon individuals. Whether the change is a result of advancing technology, social climate, or foreign influence there is little chance of preventing the effect it will have on society. When asked about his sense of community during his childhood, my Grandfather spoke about how much his family and his neighbours relied on each other to survive and to keep each other in good spirits. They helped farm each others land and in the end would split what was harvested. It was not until doing further research that it became obvious to me just how important the interdependence of this tight knit community was to their survival. Between 1943 and 1945 the Dutch people faced a horrible famine that killed nearly 30,000 Dutch civilians which is an astronomical number for a two years span. (Hitchcock, 98) Seeing as my Grandfather was so young at the time he was not able to remember much about his times during the war, so instead I conducted some research on what life might have been for a Dutch civilian during that time period. During the war time the Dutch government was completely ran by Nazis and as a result many rules were implemented that were of little benefit to the people of the country. For example men from ages 18 35 were forced to work in munitions factories and do field work, Dutch people were handed out ration cards that would limit the amount of food they could consume within the week. (Van der Zee, 3) Evidently this was a difficult time for the Dutch people so I decided to then change the topic of discussion and ask my Grandfather about his teenage years. To kick off the discussion the

His travels around Europe and the United States was the true reason that his poetry was a great success. On his travels throughout Europe, Williams met other poets, and saw different ways in which poetryhad been written. One major travel of Williams was his trip to London in 1910. Users and machines alike can be assigned to groups and that group is then placed on ACLs as if they are individual users. Every group member inherits all the permissions granted to that group on the ACL. This assignment of users and machines to groups will solve many problems when addressing security issues, one such issue would be the assignment of permissions to massive number of people rather than individually Groups permissions are managed by the ACL that grants the user the permissions assigned by the ACL to take actions on objects. These permissions can be assigned fixed actions for a given group. For example, a User in the Accounts group could only submit, manage and view data pertaining to the accounts department. Someone in the Sales group also would only be able to view customer information, add or remove products or services from the customer account, etc. Permissions also can be set where there is an all or nothing, parameter where a member of a group manages files across multiple ACLs. Sacred Texture Analysis Essay Introduction To explore the use of innovation and creativity in leading the early Christian communities from insular spirituality to a global social or religious force, I am using the method of Sacred Texture Analysis. Analysis of sacred text is a way of systemically probing dynamics across a spectrum of relationships between the humans and the divine (Robbins, 1996, pg.4). The sacred texture of a text is the formation and nurturing of religious community (Robbins, 1996, pg.127). Therefore, socio rhetorical criticism extends intertextuality to include cultural discourse (Gowler, 1999, pg.197). According to Shelley, the short story she conceived was predicated of the notion as the eighteenth became the nineteenth century that electricity could be a catalyst of life. There are a wide variety of different religions, yet many of them contain overlapping beliefs and concepts, including life after death, and it does not matter whether or not these religions are monotheistic or polytheistic. As a result, people may have a general notion of death, however, what many do not realize is that these religions support the idea of immortality. Although there is a contradiction when religions tell people that death is inevitable yet that they are also immortal, it is true because many religions have the idea of life after death, proving that immortality exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, it is clear to see that Ancient Egyptians did believe in immortality, but to add to this, the fact that one of the many death rites includes mummification, further extends the concept of immortality because of the fact that the purpose of it is to preserve the bodies. On another note, The Book of the Dead provided instructions and access to magical power to assist the deceased in his passage to the afterlife and in his existence there (184). This is because of the fact that living well off was a very important aspect of the Ancient Egyptian religion. They wanted their paradise and afterlife to seem appealing because they do not want people to not enjoy themselves once they have died. It is very important to them to keep these souls content and happy for a reason, hence the fact that they have offerings for the dead. With this, they are able to keep the faith in happiness after death alive, to help them understand death
  • 33. The history of Rooster Teeth Production, LLC. Part One: Background and History Rooster Teeth Productions, LLC. is a production company based in Austin, Texas. It was officially established April 1st, 2003; although, the company made video production content, such as parodies and short movies, before then. The history of Rooster Teeth starts at the University of Texas in the mid 1990s. Three friends, Michael Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, and Joel Heyman were friends who attended the university in Austin. They were not the best students, and they were worried the high paying technology jobs, that were growing increasingly popular at the time, were out of their reach. So, as an attempt to get themselves noticed in the industry, they decided to make a short film together. The film was called The Schedule; Burns and Hullum directed it while Heyman played the lead role. The three of them brought their film to several festivals, and they received some minor recognition. In fact, it prompted Heyman to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting, and Hullum decided to follow his heart (i.e. Joel) (roosterteeth.com) and decided to move there as well to work in visual effects. Burns stayed in Austin, where he started working at a tech support center, and where he eventually became Director of Operations. At this point in time, three key players who would eventually form Rooster Teeth were separated from each other, and they could have feasibly spent the rest of their lives this way. However, one more important
  • 34. Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love confessions and tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these archetypal features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical sonnets. However both poems differ, as Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and parodies the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules. Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, adhering to the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style, as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a stanza of six lines, in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways. Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through unpleasant ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through

Determination of % Composition of Pennies Using Redox and Double Displacement (Precipitation) Reactions Introduction: Oxidation involves the gain of electrons of hydrogen or the loss of oxygen or decrease in oxidation state. If zinc completely reacts with HCL, then the theoretical yield of copper should be equivalent to the actual yield. Purpose: In this lab, we will determine the percent composition of a modern (post 1982) penny by using a strong acid to react and dissolve the zinc core, leaving only the copper coating. Once only copper remains, we will compare its mass to the entire mass of the penny to determine how much of a penny is copper and how much is zinc. 1. In a procedure developed to determine the percent zinc in post 1982 pennies, 50 ml of an HCl solution was used to react (dissolve) all of the zinc in the penny. To ensure complete reaction, the solution contains twice as many moles of HCl that is actually needed. What concentration of HCl should be used? In the scenario described in problem 7, what is the amount (in moles) of excess (unreacted) HCl in solution? 9. How many moles of NaOH would be needed to completely react with all of the excess HCl determined in problem 8? 10. As described in problem 7, a procedure was developed to determine the percent zinc in post 1982 pennies. In that procedure 50 ml of an HCl was used to react (dissolve) all of the zinc in the penny. To ensure complete reaction, the solution contains twice as many moles of HCl that is actually needed. To determine the percent zinc in the penny, the excess (unreacted) HCl was titrated with NaOH. James Fenton and Carol Ann Duffy are both contemporary poets. Their poems In Paris with You and Quickdraw both include the themes of the pain of love. This essay compares how the two poets present the pain of love in their poems, exploring things such as imagery, vocabulary and form and structure. One way in which the poets present their ideas about the pain of love is through their use of imagery with their poems. For example, they both use metaphors about being wounded . Fenton s line I m one of your talking wounded adopts a pun which relates to the expression walking wounded , used by soldiers to imply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Fenton s and Duffy s structures differ in places, they are also similar in some ways too. For instance, both poems include repetitions. In Quickdraw , Duffy writes Take this...and this...and this...and this...and this... . This is meant to represent her partner shooting her again and again; in reality, he is saying many mean things to her, and hurting her further each time he says something. Similarly, Fenton repeats the phrase I m in Paris with you , which suggests that no matter what the couple have been through in the past, the fact that they are together is the only thing that matters. Also, the word Paris may have a double meaning of love in the phrase. This is backed up in the last stanza in the last stanza of the poem, when Fenton writes I m in Paris with the slightest thing you do , which would mean I m in love with the slightest thing you do . Fenton may have used the word Paris instead of love because he is to afraid to speak of his love for her because of the possible consequences that he may eventually face, or he may have just used it because Paris is a city associated with love and romance. The language styles of the two poets differ in their poems. For example, Fenton writes In Paris with You in the first person. He also uses many imperatives, such as Don t talk to me of love . This suggests that Fenton has almost become afraid of the word love , as he

This paper analysis the people immigrate to U.S. in legal and illegal ways and the cause of it are the safe and economic problems in their home country. The legal immigrants can have most of the same rights as a U.S. citizens and have more opportunities. However, illegal immigrants don t have the same right and also increase the criminal problem in the U.S. . The cost of illegal immigrationcontrol is the serious problem for United Stated government. The increase of legal immigration willingness can decrease the illegal immigrants number. There were over 40 million immigrants lived in the United States in 2013 and the population of immigration keeps increasing. For safety and economic problems people leave their home town and move to other countries for a better life. This immigration upsurge brings the American government a new problem because not all of the immigrants come to other countries with a legal identity. Some of them probably can t afford the expense to immigrate with legal identity, and some of them move to other countries for special reasons. Immigrating to other places means people can have a better job opportunity and even higher wages. However, illegal immigrants should not be made legal citizens. One powerful means would be to improve the conditions of workers in sweatshops. Two billion people in the world make less than two American dollars a day. As voters and consumers of sweatshopproducts, Americans can make a difference in ending the miserable conditions under which these people work. Some argue that sweatshops are simply a step up a ladder toward the next generation s success: the garment worker at her loom is carrying out some objective law of development, or the young girl making toys for our children is breaking out of male dominated feudalism. Some economists argue that even the most exploited and impoverished workers are better off than those who are unemployed or trapped in slave labor. But that argument is not about offering anyone a ladder up, but about which ring of Dante s inferno people in developing nations are consigned to. We don t want Disney, Mattel, Wal Mart or other major American companies to leave the developing world. Every day we re influenced and intrigued by the things we read, and inspired to write the words that nobody else wants to say. This is the kind of life that I could see myself pursuing and I couldn t see a place better fit to learn such things than at university studying Creative Writingand Drama beside others who share my desire. It s possible to state that I have a keen interest in reading, though I wouldn t use that term myself because the affinity I have for reading isn t exactly common. My love of books stems from the fact that people can be completely lost in these fictional universes, and that there s a way to find solace in one s imagination. This is something that I ve always had an interest in, but over the past 5 years it s grown in to something truly special. I enjoy reading a range of books, but my favourite genre is dystopian (specifically, but not exclusively, teen fiction) by far as it always seems to explore complex issues that are relevant no matter the age; corruption, the meaning of freedom etc. There are quite many aspects of this course that interest me, the main one being my love of writing. I ve been on a few writing courses, the most notable being the Summer school for Poetry and Prose held at the University and College of London. It took part over three days and showed me the beauty of classic fiction works by the likes of Charles
  • 40. Rule And Act Utilitarianism Essay Rule and Act Utilitarianism Utilitarianism is the ethical theory that an action s right or wrong depends on the outcome or consequences of it. Utilitarians believe that the main point of the theory is that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce reverse of happiness, (The Ethical Life, p. 97). They believed that life was better if the amount of happiness and pleasure would be increased but that no one s happiness was more important than someone else s. According to act utilitarianism, an action is morally required just because it does more to improve overall well being that any other acction you could have done in the circumstances, (Fundamentals of Ethics, p. 123). In other words, an action is morally good if it creates a large amount of happiness and is wrong if it causes unhappiness. On the other hand, rule utilitarianism is the belief that an action is morally good depending on the correctness of the rules whose goal is to achieve the greatest amount of happiness. On the scenarion given, I believe that the rule utilitarian would think about choosing the second patient for their study and an act utilitarian will choose the first patient. In the case of the first patient, who is a genetics researcher working on a multi year research in malaria, an act utilitarian would think that choosing that person would be morally right because if the drug is used on her the value of the consequences would be greater. Since she is a genetics researcher she can contribute to the expansion of this new medication and that will increase the amount of happiness that it can bring to other people. In rule utilitarianism, an action is considered right only if it follows the rules but also creating the greatest happiness. So in the other case, a rule utilitarian would think that giving the experimental drug to the second patient would be morally right because that s the only way of his ooportunity to recover. According to Shaffer Landau, Utilitarianism claims that my happiness is no more than yours, meaning that the decision wouldn t be taken thinking about the patients happiness, instead they think about the consequences. The main core of utilitarianism is that an

The gallery contains several carved wooden sculptures, primarily located in the center of the gallery that immediately take over upon entering. The Bozo door has a slight relief and can be viewed frontally as it hangs on the wall. Some freestanding works are displayed in cases that are built into the walls of the gallery, which limits the individual s ability to view the work all the way around.
