Ebola In The Hot Zone
Introduction
In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are a
threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an
interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in
the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body.
Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to safely
help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical
professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to
effectively make decisions and protect all patients and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preston (1995) argues, [a] hot virus from the rainforest lives within a twenty four hour plane flight
from every city on earth (p. 16). In addition, only one host is needed to spread the hot virus into a
massive outbreak in any part of the world, and such an outbreak could plunge the global population
into oblivion. To further explain, Preston (1995) draws the conclusion that the airline routes that tie
earth s cities together are a web, and once a hot virus enters the web, it can be delivered to far corners
of the earth in one day (p. 16). Simple and flawed decisions by humans can make this frightening idea

Like Water For Chocolate And John Steinbeck s The Grapes...
In Laura Esquivel s Like Water for Chocolate and John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, the female
characters are presented in nontraditional ways for the times in which the novels are set. Each novel
shows a clear distinction between the male and female characters, and it would make sense to feel a
feminist vibe from the authors at certain points in the novels. In these novels, the female characters
use the traditional distinction between gender roles to change the dynamics of their families and
function within the novel.
Before discussing the change from identifying the characters traits as female to relating their actions
more to a male identity, and vice versa, the relationships between the male and female characters must
be explored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, the beginning of Like Water for Chocolate barely mentions men in leadership roles. Tita s
father, who remains unnamed throughout the novel, is dead. Because he is an unnamed dead man he
foreshadows the insignificance of the men in this novel. He is honestly better off dead than being
emasculated by Mama Elena, or even Tita later in the novel. The only other men mentioned in the first
chapter are Pedro and his father. Their encounter with Mama Elena was demeaning in itself. They
were denied Tita s hand in marriage and manipulated by Mama Elena into marrying Pedro and
Rosaura. Power in this novel is clearly, from the very beginning, in the hands of Mama Elena, a
woman. Will that power remain with her up until her death or does Tita, by staying in her place
cooking and nurturing, hold the power all along?
The structure of Like Water for Chocolate is permeated in feministic tendencies. The subtitle reads, A
Novel in Monthly Installments with Recipes, Romances, and Home Remedies. Does that not ring with
the familiarity of women s magazines from the 1800 s and early 1900 s like Godey s Lady s Book and
McCall s Magazine? Women would use these magazines to keep up with current fashion trends and to
connect and share ideas with women they otherwise would not know. Communication is a powerful
tool. Although, the women were sharing recipes, clothing patterns, and stories, they were still making
connections

Brain Ischemia Essay
The blood brain barrier (BBB) is a metabolic and physical barrier between the central nervous system
and the brain blood flow (1). The correct functioning of the BBB is crucial for keeping brain
homeostasis and avoiding many poisons and pathogens (2). During cerebral ischemia, BBB disruption
is a crucial event that induces an influx of water, resulting in vasogenic edema (3), and causes
supplementary brain harm such as dementia through accumulation of beta amyloid peptide (4). Brain
edema aggravates the development of infarct development and causes herniation and loss of life (5). It
s been reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS) exert deleterious activities, such as BBB
disruption and BBB hyperpermeability, during vasogenic edema (6). ... Show more content on

Furthermore, inhibition of ROS protects TJs against disruption during brain damage (8). Furthermore,
amelioration of ischemia induced BBB disruption and brain edema in addition has been shown by
using diet antioxidants such as olive leaf extract and ginkgo biloba extract (9, 10). Matricaria
chamomilla can be an aroma herb with anticancer, antioxidant, and anti inflammatory properties (11),
is an important source of dietary antioxidants (12). Various studies show that matricaria chamomilla is
associated with several health advantages such as antioxidants (13), and cancer (14). However, to the
best of our knowledge, little is well known about the result of matricaria chamomilla extract on BBB
dysfunction during brain ischemia. In the present study, we looked into whether matricaria
chamomilla extract has beneficial results on brain ischemia induced edema and BBB dysfunction in
mice. The possible root systems are also looked into, especially those from the antioxidant
ramifications of the matricaria chamomilla

The Attention Span Myth Summary
The Price of Attention
In Virginia Heffernan s essay The Attention Span Myth, she argues against the ineffable quality (115)
associated with the attention span. At first she provides both sides of the attention corruption by
technology debate, but then questions the definition of the attention span and its very existence.
According to Heffernan, the attention span is an inaccurate tool for measurement, as can be seen by
looking at the works of past authors who recognize the virtues of distractibility (114). While she
addresses the value of a short attention span, Heffernan fails to provide direct evidence in support of
her phantom idea of an attention span (115) theory. She gets lost in the world of hyperactive (114)
genius and never quite gets around to thoroughly backing up her concluding argument.
While Heffernan may believe that attention spans have become the digital age equivalent of souls
(113), equating the barely mentioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each time we write an essay or read a book we have to find a way to concentrate on one area for a
long period of time. Heffernan s fervent interest in the distraction glorifying past is deceptive. She
presents the case of Moby Dick and Ahab s monomania (114) as if it is pro distraction, when really it
just recognizes the danger of obsession. Focus does not equal obsession. Even Tom Sawyer s interest
in beetles is a case for the opportunity for focus interest presents, not distraction. The German Bertolt
Brecht and his anti boredom theater again simply stress the importance of interest and constant
contemplation. The attention span is not the enemy, but rather a resource for great thinking. The
inability to understand how to use it properly does not render it null and void as Heffernan would have
you believe. If anything, the attention span is imperative for getting the most out of the human mind
by understanding its limits. No attention span can last

My Philosophy Of Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is to engage in a mutual exchange of knowledge with the students. I believe
that through helping students to develop skills of critical reflection and critical thinking they will
become able to carry out innovative research and also succeed in work beyond academia. Through
interactive teaching methods such as group work, role play, and joint presentations I seek not only to
encourage students to engage with me as an instructor, but also to exchange and discuss ideas with
their fellow students. I am a firm believer in the value of interdisciplinary teaching and research.
Therefore, I seek to make my students familiar with concepts and research that reaches beyond
political science and is related to law, sociology, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also offered weekly office hours to provide the students with targeted feedback and help them with
their individual questions. Furthermore, I offered to get in touch with me via e mail at any time and
regarding all questions related to the class.
A second course I taught as an undergraduate teaching assistant was the Introduction to Social
Structure Analysis of Modern Societies at the Institute for Sociology at Georg August University
Göttingen. In this weekly course, I made undergraduate and graduate students familiar with basic
concepts of empirical sociology and introduced them to different fields of sociological studies such as
labor market analysis, analysing educational systems, and studying migration. In addition, I made
myself available outside of the classroom via regularly scheduled office hours as well as providing my
students with my email address so that they could contact me at any time. Doing so allowed me to
clarify any issues they might have had with course material and to help with their individual research.
As a PhD student, I designed a course together with a colleague for undergraduate and graduate
students. The course was designed for the Spring Seminar entitled Failed States Problems and
Perspectives in collaboration with the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes at Technische Universität
Dresden, Germany. Both undergraduate and graduate students participated in this course. The course

Control Processes Essay
Discuss the types of control you and your friend would use and the control processes the two of you
would implement as new owners of the firm. Control processes that should be implemented
Cybernetic control system
Is defined as a self regulating system in which standards of performance are determined, once
operating can automatically monitor the situation and take corrective action. (Management Pacific
Rim focus Bartol, Tein, Matthews, Martin 4 th edition). Cybernetic control makes performance
comparisons between the standards and actual performance, and feedback provides information on the
variances.
The cybernetic model of control is associated with delivering efficiency in mechanistic organizations
(Brownell 1987) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control
should be combined with clan control.
Clan control
According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms
and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals.
Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face
change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation.
For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes
can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone. This will also reduce
labor costs as a person can do more then one task. Since there is increased emphasis on clan control,
the plant firm can improve productivity and reduce costs.
ASSESING CONTROL SYSTEMS
To make sure controls are facilitating change and innovation and improvement in the business control
systems need to be monitored to ensure they get expected results if problems such as the following are
present the control system will need to be looked at carefully.
Negative attitudes
Implementing of controls can lead to negative attitudes if controls don t meet the business
requirements or are poorly designed (Greenberg and Strasser 1986).

A Report On Bmw Z8
To the casual observer, the BMW Z8 looks like a 1960s roadster, its swoopy retro esque lines belying
the fact that it first saw light of day in 1999. BMW wanted to create a car to celebrate the turn of the
millennium, bringing together its past and future in one design. Therefore the aluminium bodied Z8
draws heavily from Z07 concept car seen only a few years earlier at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show,
which in turn pays homage to the original BMW 507 from the 1950s. The car was met with great
excitement by both the motoring press and customers alike, an appearance in the James Bond movie,
The World is Not Enough cemented its place as a desirable exotic.
Rivals in this retro modern category were thin on the ground, and there were precious few cars to
which the Z8 could be compared, especially when looking at its traditional German counterparts.
BMW itself had a model range comprising only of the 3, 5 and 7 series with the recently introduced
X5 having just dipped an adventurous toe into untapped segments. The 8 series was in its last year and
rivals had a similarly modest set of offerings to choose from. You had to move to look at niche
manufacturers and up your budget considerably to find any meaningful challengers, the Ferrari 360
and Aston Martin DB7 come to mind and while both have their merits, it is the Z8 that is now worth
considerably more than either of those cars in today s market.

The Wrongful Conviction Of The Criminal Justice System
Since the late 1980s, there have been thousands of cases in which prime suspects have been
wrongfully convicted, the most common causes being eyewitness misidentification, incriminating
statements, and statements from informants. According to The Innocence Project, there have been
almost four hundred post conviction DNA exoneration cases in our country, and they are working to
investigate even more wrongful conviction cases. This life changing program, along with their six
attorneys, gather information about thousands of cases and determine whether or not DNA evidence
can be reevaluated. Kenneth Ireland s case was submitted for litigation after they found that the court
relied heavily on false statements from witnesses. Researchers working ... Show more content on

The rape kit evidence unfortunately found that it was impossible to find a match because the sample
came from a person who does not exhibit their blood type in their bodily fluids ( The Innocence
Project, n. d.), meaning that Ireland could not be immediately ruled out. Ireland ended up pleading
guilty of the crime, most likely to have a lesser sentence. The jury deliberated for three days over the
decision, most likely because not all of the evidence was consistent. Ireland s defense had just enough
information for a successful case, but the lack of more evidence in his favor and information about
other possible suspects lead the jury to make the devastating decision of sentencing him to fifty years
in prison ( The Innocence Project, n. d.). There were three charges against Ireland: felony murder, first
degree sexual assault, and third degree burglary.
In 1991, Ireland appealed the decision by providing two arguments: that the two witnesses were
informants and were being given a $20,000 reward to cover for another man, and that the court
prohibited his defense from exhibiting evidence about another possible suspect. Unfortunately, his
appeal was denied. The Innocence Project branch in Connecticut reviewed Ireland s case in 2007 and
with the improvement of DNA testing equipment, analysts confirmed that Ireland was not a match for
the suspect. The court found Kevin Benefield guilty of the

Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train
Christina Baker Kline, a very accomplished writer, produced the work of Orphan Train which quickly
rose to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and there is no question why. This was a novel
about adventure, discovery, persevering, and learning to love life. It was based between a series of two
different time periods one being during 2011, which is Molly s story. She meets a 90 year old woman
who has had many identities during her time. She tells Molly about her travels as an orphan during the
1930 s. These stories are very similar in their type, even though they were many years apart. Molly
and Vivian are both orphans, they have both encountered tragedies, hope, and most of all loss. They
have come to feel at times as if the world were to fall apart, and the ground might break from beneath
their feet, however they found ways to move past the mournfulness and frightening times. Kline has
written a page turning masterpiece that paints a picture for the audience, the lives of orphans and how
they persevered through the unbearable times. Molly and Vivian both encountered times, where they
were mistreated as a child, lacking the education or food they needed, yet ... Show more content on

Hearing Loss Research Paper
A very long time ago, being deaf was looked upon as undesirable and individuals were disconnected
from the rest of the community. The were considered to be freaks and thought to be incapable of being
educated, deaf and dumb. They were left to live a life in isolation, not only from sound, but from
society as well. Today, we see these individuals through a different lens. Their struggles throughout
history have been many and they have continued to open our eyes and show the world that being deaf
is not about having a disability, but rather ability.
What is hearing loss and deafness? Is it the inability to hear sound? Or is it more than that? The
answer will depend on who you ask. With regard to hearing loss, there are three main types. ... Show

Genes are like road maps for various proteins, which are the building blocks of the body. Every person
will inherit half of their genes from their mother and the other half from their father. This includes
healthy genes and genes that might be defective and cause a health disorder such as hearing loss.
Defective genes can be inherited from one parent, or both parents. If the possibility of passing along
defective genes is an issue, couples might seek genetic counseling where informed decisions can be
made pertaining to medical, psychological, and support groups. For some parents to be where the
possibility of having a deaf child is a concern, counseling can be beneficial. Typically, genetic
counseling is not sought after by members of the Deaf community due to not having concerns over
reproductive outcomes.
As we get older, the natural aging process of our auditory system may start to weaken. This process is
known as presbycusis and is a gradual one that initially affects higher pitched frequencies (CITE). It is
one of the most common conditions which has a great influence on the elderly. According to National
Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, about one in three people in the United
States ranging from the age 65 to 74 suffers from some form of hearing loss. Approximately half of
people older than 75 have a hard time hearing. Unfortunately, the natural aging process cannot be

The Problem Of Chemical Dependency
Chemical Dependency is common. It is most likely more common than one would think. The 2013
report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found the percent of people 12
years of age and over with any illicit drug use in the past month: was 9.4%. The statistics also show
people 12 years of age and over with any nonmedical use of a psychotherapeutic drug in the past
month was 2.5%. These rates are significant. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIH, 2014) found
abuse of and addiction to substances costs Americans more than $700 billion a year in increased
health care costs, crime, and lost productivity. Unfortunately, each year illicit and prescription drugs

Risk Factors and Protective Factors
According to Walsh (2012), experimentation with alcohol and drugs is the most prominent risk to
becoming a substance abuser. There are neurologists and mental health professions that agree some
people are more susceptible than other people to becoming addicted to substances because of genetic,
biological, or environmental differences. Some of these risk factors include, but are not limited to:
family history of substance abuse, mental disorders, childhood trauma, and early experimentation with
substances. Even someone who does not have these risk factors but experiments with substances can
still become addicted. Typically, the more risk factors a person has, the more likely are chances that
using drugs will lead to abuse and addiction. Alternatively, having protective factors reduce a person s
risk of developing addiction. These protective

My mom sat beside me as I recovered from surgery. I could tell something serious was being
conveyed. I watched tears begin to stream down her face as she spoke on the phone. My dad
reluctantly informed her of the outcome of Belle s veterinarian appointment.
Belle was introduced to our family in 1994 when a friend of my middle school aged sister needed
someone to rescue an unwanted litter. This was crazy to me because my dad, who had a horrible
memory of wild cats attacking him as a boy under his family farmhouse, hated cats. My mom on the
other hand, loved cats. I never imagined he would allow my young sister to have this pet. Despite my
assumptions, he did.
My mom convinced him the circumstances would only be for a few months. Despite my dad s hope in
this temporary adoption,16 years later, we still had Belle!

Ralph Waldo Emerson From Self Reliance
Self reliance is being shown throughout Excerpts from Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson and
Excerpts from Resistance to civil government by Henry David Thoreau. It is saying that you think for
yourself; do for yourself. Emerson is explaining that you need to believe in yourself and use your gut.
Thoreau demonstrates that you need to speak up for yourself because if you hold back and just keep it
to yourself then you can t do anything about it. In Self Reliance Emerson explains on how using what
your brain tells you can be helpful. First, Emerson talks about how you should believe in yourself. To
believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all
men . That is considered being a genius. Willing to think different thoughts and believe in it. Have
confidence in yourself. Whatever you think is right go for it, try your best to show people who you
really are. Believe in what you re doing. Secondly you have your own voice inside of you, your force .
Your force is referred to your whim. You whim is like your gut. It makes you feel what is the best
possible thing for you. For example, when your with a group of people discussing on what is going to
happen or change and you don t agree but want to say something, say it. We are always nervous to
speak what we think. That s why we have our whim! It makes us say what we feel is right and it
usually helps you out and makes you feel more relieved after. Never give up on

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Is Cheaper From Scratch Or From A...
As a frugal cook, I often make things from scratch rather than buying a mix or packaged food item.
This works well in many cases, but in others, it s actually cheaper to buy the pre packaged item.
Recently, I decided to look at whether spaghetti sauce is cheaper from scratch or from a can. Canned
vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy call. At Winco
Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78 cents. At most stores,
in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For comparison purposes, I
also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, and one four ounce can of
mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that doesn t even include the onions,
herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is
obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti
Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually prefer the canned sauce or the homemade

sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are nearly invisible they must be finely minced

Rhyme Scheme Of The Tyger By William Blake
William Blake was more than just a poet. He was an artist, a politician and a theologian. Blake was
born in 1757 and died in 1827, He was known for his artistic talent and political involvement. Born in
to a middle class family in London, Blake was one of 7 children born to his family, but only 5 of them
survived past infancy. Blake did not receive any formal schooling and mostly spent his days
wandering the streets of London (Poetry Fdn.). When he was ten he was enrolled in art school for
multiple years and when he was 14 he became an apprentice engraver to James Basire (Poetry Fdn.).
His work as an engraver allowed him to make money and continue to hone his artistic ability. Blakes
artistry is clearly seen in most of his poems, whether its his early political works such as America or
his classic lyric poems like The Tyger . (Poetry Fdn.). In The Tyger William Blake unconventionally
questions the creation of the world through rhyme scheme, deep imagery, and conflicting ideas. ...

The poem is a trochaic tetrameter meaning it consists of 8 syllables per line starting with a stressed
then unstressed syllable. The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh, iijj, and then
ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it contains a catalexis,
which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake uses the catalexis in The Tyger
to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies. / Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5
6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep the poem interesting. Another purpose of the
catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that
reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God who made it. Blake uses the structure of the poem
to fit the aggressive tone he writes

Bourdieu Cultural Capital Analysis
Discuss Bourdieu s ideas on cultural capital in relation to foodies. Introduction: The insight of status
in relation to foodies is strongly manifested within the foodie culture. Food plays an important role in
society as it is essential to life and it reflects upon social and cultural consumptions. This essay will
discuss how Bourdieu s ideas on the cultural capital have influenced the identity of foodies in the
society. The essay will first explore and define Bourdieu s concept of the cultural capital. The essay
will then illustrate the emergence of the foodie identity, and further explain the association in regards
to the concept of cultural capital. The essay will also analyze the dispute whether or not foodies still

Most foodies are known as upper class promoters of elite consumptions which largely impacts the
development of social identity and class differences. As explained by Johnston and Baumann (2014),
foodies tend to consume foods that are traditionally connected with high status goods. The food they
consume includes imported and expensive foods, which creates a fence among the poor individuals.
Even though, most foodies consume foods from both high and low cost groups. It does not mean that
all foodies are traditionally ingrained to high status goods. Rather, they utilize such district of interest
in describing if food is worthy and unworthy (Johnston Baumann, 2014). According to Johnston and
Baumann (2014) interview towards twenty six foodies, foodies use their taste and practices to raise
their social status and distinction of cultural capital to receive social privileges. This means that their
decision towards what to consume, what type food to choose and how to advertise the food, indicate
cultural component which foodies consider it to be sophisticated. An example Guptill et al. (2013),
have mentioned is the growth of consuming donuts in Canada. Donuts in Canada has become an
accessible food towards the working class individuals. Yet, the foodies would turn it into something
more sophisticated to represent the food in a unique way. Thus, this describes the emergence of more

Imperialism Spread Of China And The Opium War
When imperialism spread to China: Events leading to the Opium War
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if an event in history ceased to happen or the effect of
a slight change in the past and if it would drastically change the future? Like the butterfly affect? I
recently came across some historical text about China. During the time of imperialism, a major shift
had happened in China that caused an entire dynasty to fall. The collapse caused a half century long
recovery period and a change in world trade. This event was the Opium War.
The Opium War in China occurred in two time spans, 1839 1842 and 1856 1860, however, I am just
going to discuss the first one. During the 19th century, global trade had spiked interest in many ...

Would the country have collapsed on itself? Throughout history Britain consistently continued taking
over and or imperializing multiple countries to then rely on them for survival and wealth. Could this
have been a possible future for China? Today the United States is China s major agricultural source.
Yet, if this event had not transpired would China still be able to produce its own food? Would China
today even exist or would it have been consumed by another superior country?
During the reign of Qing Emperor Daoguang (1820 1850), foreign trade was only allowed in the
commercial port of Canton. Due to the foreign trade policy, for Britain to obtain Chinese goods they
would have to purchase them with silver. Silver was China s currency at that time. The English
speaking merchants were not allowed to learn Chinese and were to be harshly punished if they left the
port to enter China. This frustrated the British East India Company. They had very few restrictions
from foreign ports and companies. The reasoning behind this was they had already seized control of
them. This gave Great Britain a massive advantage: A monopoly system of the seas. A stem of related
problems began to emerge for Britain. They did not have their own supply of silver and would
purchase it from Mexico so it could be used to purchase large quantities of Chinese Tea. Tea and sugar
made a marvelous mildly addicting drug food... (qtd. Dunn) Years went by of accelerated

Analysis of Anselm s Ontological Argument and the Argument...

Analysis to Anselm s Ontological Argument and the Argument from Evil The debate of the existence
of God had been active since before the first philosopher has pondered the question. Anselm s
Ontological Argument was introduced during the 11th century and had stood deductively valid until
the 18th century. Then there are the arguments to aim disprove God, such as the Argument from Evil.
The Ontological argument is an a priori deductive argument. That is, an argument relating to being,
that is independent of prior knowledge of the subject and with a conclusion you must accept IF one
accepts the preceding premises. St. Anselm of Canterbury presents the Ontological ... Show more

This leads to the conclusion, if you accept the premises then you accept the existence of the greatest
being possible, God.
This concept of God s existence is also led with the idea that God is a necessary being, a being that is
not dependent of something greater in order to exist. If God relied on another being, like how a
children rely on parents to conceive them, then this being called God is not God because it would be
imperfect. Therefore, there must be another to call God that meets all the requirements for perfection.
One of the first popular objections was created by Gaunilo of Marmoutiers. The premise and
conclusion to Gaunilo s argument is identical to Anselm s argument except with the replacement of the
word God with the Lost island and the word being with island . As simple as that, though Gaunilo s
argument is completely absurd, Gaunilo s reductio ad absurdum also proves to be as deductively valid
as Anselm s argument. However, this Lost Island could in no way exist. The absurdity and validity of
the lost island quickly brought up questions as to how Anselm s Argument cannot be absurd. Anselm s
argument was not proven invalid until Immanuel Kant, a german philosopher during the 18th century,
proposed an objection that would be the decisive blow to the Ontological argument (Immanuel Kant.

Eyewitness Testimonies
Throughout the history of the United States judicial system, eyewitness testimonies an account from a
witness of a crime or an accident that involves the witness recounting their firsthand experience of the
incident to a court have been used as conclusive evidence to prove a defendant guilty. It is thought that
although memory can be unclear at times, it is assumed memories of stressful or otherwise threatening
events are well encoded into the brain, largely indelible, and therefore can be accurately recalled. This
idea is based off of the psychological concept of flashbulb memories which are sudden onsets of

The Harmonicus Culture of Hong Kong
What place has the best harmony of the east and the west in the world do you think? The Middle East?
Southeast Asia? or China town in the US? I think Hong Kong has the best harmonious culture in the
world because it was a part of England and China, and many people from Hong Kong can speak
English and Chinese. Even until now, China is not much open as many other liberal economy
countries, but Hong Kong is. According to Milton Friedman who is one of the famous economies in
the world, and who were awarded the Novel Prize in Economic Sciences, Hong Kong is a good
example of the free market system. Therefore, Hong Kong has been influenced many different
cultures, and it becomes one of the harmoniest countries in the world. It became independent from
England, but it has not been included China yet, so it has very distinctive culture. It was established in
July 1st 1997 and would be a part of China 50 years after 1997 (Hong Kong Basic Law). Hong Kong
rapidly developed social systems and economy in 1980. Therefore, there are many similarities and
differences between 1980 and now. First, old Hong Kong and now Hong Kong have similarities in
culture, especially movie industry. Hong Kong is one of the most famous movie stars home town such
as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung. In fact, Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, and he

American Schools Failing Essay
How America s Schools Are Failing America s once revered schools are no longer the greatest in the
world. This may seem unbelievable to most, but the truth is, America no longer leads the world in
education. Schools are shutting down at an alarming rate, and it is easy to see why when one looks at
some of the many flaws in our educational system today. Upon examining the schools of America, one
can find a plethora of issues within the system. This is proved time and again when students graduate
high school unprepared for college, a lack of exposure to different cultures, and without basic life
skills. Students are breezing through the years of high school and receiving a rude awakening when
they graduate. The four short years of high school have an enormous affect on the next forty. So many
things such as GPA, ACT scores, clubs etc. can mean the difference in thousands of dollars of debt
from student loans or a free ride to college. The failure to prepare in high school directly impacts the
future of America s students. Some may say that America in all her greatness cannot possibly be
failing its students. Yes, America is a wonderful country and a land of opportunity; however, the truth
is our nation is ranked just 36th in the world compared to being 1st in the world 30 years ago.

The Basics Of Synchronous And Asynchronous Circuits
ABSTRACT The aim of the presented report is to understand the basics of synchronous and
asynchronous circuits. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their
differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits are
discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the beginning of
the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained. Further, the sequential
machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences and variations. In the end, the
differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also, the term paper is summed with a
conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits wherever the signal should be one in
every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit. Every level is taken into account jointly of 2
completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1, true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits,
digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or degradation in quality, additionally the errors are
detected and corrected simply with the assistance of digital signals. EDA ELECTRONIC style
AUTOMATION tools (a style of package that improves or enhance the logic in digital circuit) is
employed by the engineer to automatize the method of coming up with such circuits. ADVANTAGES

Comparing The Gospels Of Matthew And Luke
The Gospels of Matthew and Luke are almost identical at times to each other, as well as the Gospel of
Mark. Interestingly enough, it is believed that Mark was written significantly earlier than the other two
Gospels mentioned. This means that it is very plausible that Mark was used as a source for the authors
of Matthew and Luke. That being said, there are stories included in both Matthew and Luke that are
almost identical to each other, but are not found in Mark. How could this be? This question has led
scholars to believe that there existed a document, in which they named Q , that both authors of
Matthew and Luke used as a source, other than Mark, when writing their books. In this analysis, I will

Reality Boy Theme
Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King. Reality
Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up because he
was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him up, and the whole
world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The book was interesting
because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to turn his life around for the
better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have experienced awful things in your life and
has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome the obstacles that stand in your way of

the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a warning label or a parental
advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in our library and especially an
elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of 10. It is interesting and funny at some
points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was ruined because of his family. I really wish
that there were less cursing in it because most of it is unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I

Why did the Order in council PC 1003 came into effect? During the Second World War, the federal
government declared the state of emergency which made the Canadian government to grant the
Canadians workers the same right as the American workers. It was in 1935 when the industrial
unionism spread to the Canada. In 1937, Canada suffered from the great depression. This depression
brought social unrest and poverty to the working class Canadians. This made the Canadian
government to ignore the hard work of their labourforce for quite long time. For example, in
November 1939, the federal government introduced PC 3495, which extended the IDIA to all
industries involved in war production. Thus the order in council PC 1003 came into effect which
granted the legal basis for the collective bargaining in Canada. The main reason for the Canadian
working class to adapt to the order in council PC 1003 was the recognition of the union. There were
many large strikes that took place before the PC 1003 was adopted. One of the significant strikes was
the Winnipeg general strike that the whole world remembers. The cause that led to this strike was the

Book Summary Peter Kramer s book, Listening to Prozac investigates the use of the medication
fluoxetine, or better known as Prozac. Prozac is a selective serotonin inhibitor (SSRI) which means
that it affects chemicals in the brain believed to responsible for depression, anxiety, and obsessive

Energy Project Fossil Fuels There are many different types of economic problems that this world faces
and one major problem is that we (all the people on the planet) are using too much of our non
renewable energy. Using too much of this non renewable can raise concern that we will eventually run
out of the energy that human civilization runs on. We have two different types of energy in this world,
non renewable and renewable. renewable energy is energy that is natural to this earth and we wont run

There are three different types of Non Renewable fossil fuels on plant earth, they are oil, coal, and
natural gas. Oil was first created by different living creatures that lived in the ocean waters, these
creatures were then buried under the oceans floor for many years. After a very long period of time the
heat from the sun and different pressure eventually started to heat up these different creatures that
were buried under layers of sediment deposits. That was how the thick substance called oil was first
formed. But deeper down into the earths crust the same thing happened but it eventually formed
natural gas . After a long period of time passes, the oils and natural gas that is formed eventually
works its way up through the earths surface into rock formation called cap rocks . From these cap
rocks we get most of our natural gas and oil today. The last non renewable energy is coal, we use coal
to do things like heat up our homes. Coal was created almost the same way as natural gas and oil. Coal
is created by many different kind of plants like ferns and trees that existed many many years ago. Coal
is also formed by swamps that were located in the eastern part of the united States that were covered
by sea water. a big problem is that this sea water contained a lot of sulfur. So when this coal that has
sulfur in it burns it creates an air pollutant. Luckily, we found other fresh water

Inevitable Blowback Many claim that ISIS has been created as a result of Islamic teachings and
principles. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce of
truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the struggle
for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence. State
sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely contributing causes to
the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic events that took place on 9/11,
Islamophobia was born. It has been over a decade and Islamophobia is not only still existent, but it s

The Islamic Diffusion Of India
INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH
In the 600s, Arab traders were in contact with India. They would regularly go to the west coast of
India to trade different goods, like African goods, spices, and gold. As the Arabs began to convert to
Islam, the religion carried to the coast of India. The first mosque in India was built in 629, it is called
the Cheraman Juma Masjid. The mosque was made in the Indian state Kerala. Islam continued to
spread into Indian cities, by immigration and conversion, as the Arab Muslims and the Indians
continued trading.
DIFFUSION
Islamic diffusion in India happened through both Relocation and Expansion.
India was first introduced to Islam in the 600 s when Arab traders regularly sailed to
the west coast of India to trade goods like spices and gold. At this time the Arabs had begun to convert
to Islam. When they came to the shores of India, they brought their new Islam religion with them. The
first mosque in India was built in 629. Islam continued to spread in coastal Indian towns and cities
through this immigration and relocation. However, most Indians stayed with their own religion and
there was not a massive immigration of Muslims from other areas.
Islam also has diffused through Expansion. The greatest Expansion of Islam in India first occurred in
711. Seventeen year old Muhammad bin Qasim was appointed to lead his army of 6,000 soldiers to
the far eastern side of Persia, Makran. As he made his way into India there was little

Why are we here? , and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the factors that have
allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and continue to influence
me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future.
Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something greater,
as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard, allowing for me to
have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the imagination to draw up
plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and vision to execute my plans
for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My parents have taught me that
anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it despite the what others may tell
you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to my current life, is the amount of
time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is extremely important because,
without a solid, flexible, long term plan, you could get lost in dreaming about the future, and end up
not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life have been planned out with not one or
two possible alternatives

Mig Welding
What is MIG Welding?
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, also sometimes called Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is a process
that was developed in the 1940s for welding aluminum and other non ferrous metals. MIG welding is
an automatic or semi automatic process in which a wire connected to a source of direct current acts as
an electrode to join two pieces of metal as it is continuously passed through a welding gun. A flow of
an inert gas, originally argon, is also passed through the welding gun at the same time as the wire
electrode. This inert gas acts as a shield, keeping airborne contaminants away from the weld zone.
Advantages and Disadvantages of MIG Welding
The primary advantage of MIG welding is that it allows metal to be welded much more ... Show more

 The necessity for the inert gas shield means that MIG welding cannot be used in an open area where
the wind would blow away the gas shield.
Since its development in the middle of the 20th century, MIG welding has become commonplace in
many manufacturing operations. For example, it is commonly used in the automobile industry because
of its ability to produce clean welds, and the fact that it welds metals quickly.
What is TIG Welding?
Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is the process of blending together reactive metals such as
magnesium and aluminum. The TIG welding method became popular and useful in the early 1940s
and, as a result, has greatly propelled the use of aluminum for welding and structural processes. TIG
welding is commonly used for both high quality and manual welding.
During the process of TIG welding, an arc is formed between a pointed tungsten electrode and the area
to be welded. As a result of the gas shield, a clean weld is formed. This prevents oxidization from
occurring.
The type of gas shielding typically used for TIG welding is argon, helium, or a combination of both.
When combined, these two gases can ensure a higher welding speed and welding penetration. Argon is
the preference of most welders when it comes to TIG welding. It is often used simply because it is
heavier than air and provides better coverage when welding.
With TIG welding, one can perform a variety of

Large Bathers
Art is always evolving with the people causing the styles and technique. In the 1900s style of
paintings started to change dramatically. The colors got brighter and the lines became more curved,
images started to become more abstract. This changed the meaning of the paintings to be a more
imaginative and creative. Cezanne and matisse were to artists that painted in the 1900s and they
changed with the times. The two paintings The Large Bathers and The Joy of Life are different but
also have some similarities.
In The Large Bathers the colors are dark, they are sitting around a pond, and it is a large group. Since
the colors are very dark and cold it makes the people seem distant. This makes the people go away
from us and the blues to stand out. All of the people are sitting around a pond washing cloths. This
gives the image a focal point in the center of the painting. It draws your attention to what the people
are doing and how they are interacting with each other. The emotions on the peoples faces are very sad
and not upbeat, they do not seem to be having fun and enjoying their time. All of the people in the
painting are with each other in a clump. No people are away from the group and they are all focused in
on what the two people in the center are doing which seems to be washing cloths. ... Show more

The image has bright colors such as red, orange, and greens that jump out at you and make you feel
like you are right next to the image. In the painting the people are found in pairs or a small group. This

that is dancing around hand in hand. The people have an auras around them that are green showing
love and happiness. All of the people and engaged with one another and have a happy look on their

  • 2. Ebola In The Hot Zone Introduction In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are a threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body. Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to safely help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to effectively make decisions and protect all patients and ... In addition, only one host is needed to spread the hot virus into a massive outbreak in any part of the world, and such an outbreak could plunge the global population into oblivion. To further explain, Preston (1995) draws the conclusion that the airline routes that tie earth s cities together are a web, and once a hot virus enters the web, it can be delivered to far corners of the earth in one day (p. 16). • 3. Like Water For Chocolate And John Steinbeck s The Grapes... In Laura Esquivel s Like Water for Chocolate and John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, the female characters are presented in nontraditional ways for the times in which the novels are set. Each novel shows a clear distinction between the male and female characters, and it would make sense to feel a feminist vibe from the authors at certain points in the novels. In these novels, the female characters use the traditional distinction between gender roles to change the dynamics of their families and function within the novel. Before discussing the change from identifying the characters traits as female to relating their actions more to a male identity, and vice versa, the relationships between the male and female characters must be explored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, the beginning of Like Water for Chocolate barely mentions men in leadership roles. Tita s father, who remains unnamed throughout the novel, is dead. Because he is an unnamed dead man he foreshadows the insignificance of the men in this novel. He is honestly better off dead than being emasculated by Mama Elena, or even Tita later in the novel. The only other men mentioned in the first chapter are Pedro and his father. Their encounter with Mama Elena was demeaning in itself. They were denied Tita s hand in marriage and manipulated by Mama Elena into marrying Pedro and Rosaura. Power in this novel is clearly, from the very beginning, in the hands of Mama Elena, a woman. Will that power remain with her up until her death or does Tita, by staying in her place cooking and nurturing, hold the power all along? The structure of Like Water for Chocolate is permeated in feministic tendencies. The subtitle reads, A Novel in Monthly Installments with Recipes, Romances, and Home Remedies. Does that not ring with the familiarity of women s magazines from the 1800 s and early 1900 s like Godey s Lady s Book and McCall s Magazine? Women would use these magazines to keep up with current fashion trends and to connect and share ideas with women they otherwise would not know. Communication is a powerful tool. • 4. Brain Ischemia Essay The blood brain barrier (BBB) is a metabolic and physical barrier between the central nervous system and the brain blood flow (1). The correct functioning of the BBB is crucial for keeping brain homeostasis and avoiding many poisons and pathogens (2). During cerebral ischemia, BBB disruption is a crucial event that induces an influx of water, resulting in vasogenic edema (3), and causes supplementary brain harm such as dementia through accumulation of beta amyloid peptide (4). Brain edema aggravates the development of infarct development and causes herniation and loss of life (5). It s been reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS) exert deleterious activities, such as BBB disruption and BBB hyperpermeability, during vasogenic edema (6). ... Matricaria chamomilla can be an aroma herb with anticancer, antioxidant, and anti inflammatory properties (11), is an important source of dietary antioxidants (12). Various studies show that matricaria chamomilla is associated with several health advantages such as antioxidants (13), and cancer (14). However, to the best of our knowledge, little is well known about the result of matricaria chamomilla extract on BBB dysfunction during brain ischemia. • 5. The Attention Span Myth Summary The Price of Attention In Virginia Heffernan s essay The Attention Span Myth, she argues against the ineffable quality (115) associated with the attention span. At first she provides both sides of the attention corruption by technology debate, but then questions the definition of the attention span and its very existence. According to Heffernan, the attention span is an inaccurate tool for measurement, as can be seen by looking at the works of past authors who recognize the virtues of distractibility (114). While she addresses the value of a short attention span, Heffernan fails to provide direct evidence in support of her phantom idea of an attention span (115) theory. She gets lost in the world of hyperactive (114) genius and never quite gets around to thoroughly backing up her concluding argument. While Heffernan may believe that attention spans have become the digital age equivalent of souls (113), equating the barely mentioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each time we write an essay or read a book we have to find a way to concentrate on one area for a long period of time. Heffernan s fervent interest in the distraction glorifying past is deceptive. She presents the case of Moby Dick and Ahab s monomania (114) as if it is pro distraction, when really it just recognizes the danger of obsession. Focus does not equal obsession. Even Tom Sawyer s interest in beetles is a case for the opportunity for focus interest presents, not distraction. The German Bertolt Brecht and his anti boredom theater again simply stress the importance of interest and constant contemplation. The attention span is not the enemy, but rather a resource for great thinking. The inability to understand how to use it properly does not render it null and void as Heffernan would have you believe. If anything, the attention span is imperative for getting the most out of the human mind by understanding its limits. No attention span can last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Control processes that should be implemented Cybernetic control system Is defined as a self regulating system in which standards of performance are determined, once operating can automatically monitor the situation and take corrective action. (Management Pacific Rim focus Bartol, Tein, Matthews, Martin 4 th edition). Cybernetic control makes performance comparisons between the standards and actual performance, and feedback provides information on the variances. Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control should be combined with clan control. Clan control According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals. Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation. For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone. This will also reduce labor costs as a person can do more then one task. Since there is increased emphasis on clan control, the plant firm can improve productivity and reduce costs. ASSESING CONTROL SYSTEMS To make sure controls are facilitating change and innovation and improvement in the business control systems need to be monitored to ensure they get expected results if problems such as the following are present the control system will need to be looked at carefully. Negative attitudes Implementing of controls can lead to negative attitudes if controls don t meet the business requirements or are poorly designed (Greenberg and Strasser 1986).

  • 9. A Report On Bmw Z8 To the casual observer, the BMW Z8 looks like a 1960s roadster, its swoopy retro esque lines belying the fact that it first saw light of day in 1999. BMW wanted to create a car to celebrate the turn of the millennium, bringing together its past and future in one design. Therefore the aluminium bodied Z8 draws heavily from Z07 concept car seen only a few years earlier at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, which in turn pays homage to the original BMW 507 from the 1950s. The car was met with great excitement by both the motoring press and customers alike, an appearance in the James Bond movie, The World is Not Enough cemented its place as a desirable exotic. Rivals in this retro modern category were thin on the ground, and there were precious few cars to which the Z8 could be compared, especially when looking at its traditional German counterparts. BMW itself had a model range comprising only of the 3, 5 and 7 series with the recently introduced X5 having just dipped an adventurous toe into untapped segments. The 8 series was in its last year and rivals had a similarly modest set of offerings to choose from. You had to move to look at niche manufacturers and up your budget considerably to find any meaningful challengers, the Ferrari 360 and Aston Martin DB7 come to mind and while both have their merits, it is the Z8 that is now worth considerably more than either of those cars in today s market. The rape kit evidence unfortunately found that it was impossible to find a match because the sample came from a person who does not exhibit their blood type in their bodily fluids ( The Innocence Project, n. d.), meaning that Ireland could not be immediately ruled out. Ireland ended up pleading guilty of the crime, most likely to have a lesser sentence. The jury deliberated for three days over the decision, most likely because not all of the evidence was consistent. Ireland s defense had just enough information for a successful case, but the lack of more evidence in his favor and information about other possible suspects lead the jury to make the devastating decision of sentencing him to fifty years in prison ( The Innocence Project, n. d.). There were three charges against Ireland: felony murder, first degree sexual assault, and third degree burglary. In 1991, Ireland appealed the decision by providing two arguments: that the two witnesses were informants and were being given a $20,000 reward to cover for another man, and that the court prohibited his defense from exhibiting evidence about another possible suspect. Unfortunately, his appeal was denied. The Innocence Project branch in Connecticut reviewed Ireland s case in 2007 and with the improvement of DNA testing equipment, analysts confirmed that Ireland was not a match for the suspect. • 20. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy call. At Winco Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78 cents. At most stores, in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For comparison purposes, I also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, and one four ounce can of mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that doesn t even include the onions, herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually prefer the canned sauce or the homemade sauce? Based on taste and appearance, I would favor the homemade sauce. The canned sauce is overly sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are nearly invisible they must be finely minced (probably leftover bits from something else). During the reign of Qing Emperor Daoguang (1820 1850), foreign trade was only allowed in the commercial port of Canton. Roxx Alvarado Professor Aaron Wilson PHI2010 8 September 2011 Analysis to Anselm s Ontological Argument and the Argument from Evil The debate of the existence of God had been active since before the first philosopher has pondered the question. Anselm s Ontological Argument was introduced during the 11th century and had stood deductively valid until the 18th century. Then there are the arguments to aim disprove God, such as the Argument from Evil. The Ontological argument is an a priori deductive argument. This leads to the conclusion, if you accept the premises then you accept the existence of the greatest being possible, God. This concept of God s existence is also led with the idea that God is a necessary being, a being that is not dependent of something greater in order to exist. If God relied on another being, like how a children rely on parents to conceive them, then this being called God is not God because it would be imperfect. Therefore, there must be another to call God that meets all the requirements for perfection. One of the first popular objections was created by Gaunilo of Marmoutiers. The premise and conclusion to Gaunilo s argument is identical to Anselm s argument except with the replacement of the word God with the Lost island and the word being with island . As simple as that, though Gaunilo s argument is completely absurd, Gaunilo s reductio ad absurdum also proves to be as deductively valid as Anselm s argument. However, this Lost Island could in no way exist. The absurdity and validity of the lost island quickly brought up questions as to how Anselm s Argument cannot be absurd. She recently moved from Chicago to New York in order to fulfil her career dream with her boyfriend, Nate (Adrian Grenier) who works as a chef. This film is about Andrea s many unplanned adventures experienced when she lands a job at the most famous fashion magazine: Runway. Runway is a publication company, the business is part of the micro environment and only top quality resources are used. Andrea gets a job as Miranda Priestley s (Meryl Streep) second assistant, known to be a job that a thousand girls would kill for because Miranda is the editor and chief of Runway and is known to be a fashion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miranda is extremely hard and nasty to her staff members so they leave, therefore human resources has to keep on replacing people which can be problem as they have to train all these new workers which is expensive and it makes the business unprofessional as these new people need time to fit in and learn how the business functions so the level of productivity slows down. Human resources is also shown when we see Andrea work after hours (25:56.) Andrea works until late at night and then is called at 6:15am to be told that she needs to come to work immediately. Andrea has not gotten enough sleep which will affect her productivity for the new day is she is now tired. It is also not mentioned if she is paid for afterhours but instead it is just seen as something you have to do which is not right because human resources is therefore not controlling her salary correctly and they are not making sure she is happy and that the team is working together successfully. Not only does Andrea have to work after hours but she is also asked to do personal errands for Miranda like deliver her dry cleaning and pick up books for her twins, this is not in Andreas job description and it might not be one of the skills Andrea has so she could be fired for doing something incorrectly but in actual fact it s not something she should be doing in the first place as it does not involve Runway ... • 30. The Basics Of Synchronous And Asynchronous Circuits ABSTRACT The aim of the presented report is to understand the basics of synchronous and asynchronous circuits. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits are discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the beginning of the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained. Further, the sequential machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences and variations. In the end, the differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also, the term paper is summed with a conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits wherever the signal should be one in every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit. Every level is taken into account jointly of 2 completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1, true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits, digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or degradation in quality, additionally the errors are detected and corrected simply with the assistance of digital signals. EDA ELECTRONIC style AUTOMATION tools (a style of package that improves or enhance the logic in digital circuit) is employed by the engineer to automatize the method of coming up with such circuits. Interestingly enough, it is believed that Mark was written significantly earlier than the other two Gospels mentioned. This means that it is very plausible that Mark was used as a source for the authors of Matthew and Luke. That being said, there are stories included in both Matthew and Luke that are almost identical to each other, but are not found in Mark. How could this be? This question has led scholars to believe that there existed a document, in which they named Q , that both authors of Matthew and Luke used as a source, other than Mark, when writing their books. • 32. Reality Boy Theme Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King. Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of 10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality Boy by A.S. PC 1003 was also known by the Wartime Labor Relations Order. The codes of the Order in council PC 1003 protected the worker s right to collectively bargain, represent and organize the unions chosen by a majority of the workers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why did the Order in council PC 1003 came into effect? During the Second World War, the federal government declared the state of emergency which made the Canadian government to grant the Canadians workers the same right as the American workers. It was in 1935 when the industrial unionism spread to the Canada. In 1937, Canada suffered from the great depression. This depression brought social unrest and poverty to the working class Canadians. This made the Canadian government to ignore the hard work of their labourforce for quite long time. For example, in November 1939, the federal government introduced PC 3495, which extended the IDIA to all industries involved in war production. Thus the order in council PC 1003 came into effect which granted the legal basis for the collective bargaining in Canada. The main reason for the Canadian working class to adapt to the order in council PC 1003 was the recognition of the union. There were many large strikes that took place before the PC 1003 was adopted. One of the significant strikes was the Winnipeg general strike that the whole world remembers. There are three different types of Non Renewable fossil fuels on plant earth, they are oil, coal, and natural gas. Oil was first created by different living creatures that lived in the ocean waters, these creatures were then buried under the oceans floor for many years. After a very long period of time the heat from the sun and different pressure eventually started to heat up these different creatures that were buried under layers of sediment deposits. That was how the thick substance called oil was first formed. But deeper down into the earths crust the same thing happened but it eventually formed natural gas . After a long period of time passes, the oils and natural gas that is formed eventually works its way up through the earths surface into rock formation called cap rocks . From these cap rocks we get most of our natural gas and oil today. The last non renewable energy is coal, we use coal to do things like heat up our homes. Coal was created almost the same way as natural gas and oil. Coal is created by many different kind of plants like ferns and trees that existed many many years ago. Coal is also formed by swamps that were located in the eastern part of the united States that were covered by sea water. a big problem is that this sea water contained a lot of sulfur. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce of truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the struggle for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence. State sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely contributing causes to the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic events that took place on 9/11, Islamophobia was born. You are led to think that it is a violent cult that preaches hate and teaches violence. The sad part is, whether Islam does any of this is still a question that is being debated. At this time the Arabs had begun to convert to Islam. When they came to the shores of India, they brought their new Islam religion with them. The first mosque in India was built in 629. Islam continued to spread in coastal Indian towns and cities through this immigration and relocation. However, most Indians stayed with their own religion and there was not a massive immigration of Muslims from other areas. Islam also has diffused through Expansion. Most often, the questions that arise include the common doubts of Am I doing this right? , or even the occasional midnight philosophical questions such as Why are we here? , and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future. Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard, allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long term plan, you could get lost in dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Mig Welding What is MIG Welding? Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, also sometimes called Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is a process that was developed in the 1940s for welding aluminum and other non ferrous metals. MIG welding is an automatic or semi automatic process in which a wire connected to a source of direct current acts as an electrode to join two pieces of metal as it is continuously passed through a welding gun. A flow of an inert gas, originally argon, is also passed through the welding gun at the same time as the wire electrode. This inert gas acts as a shield, keeping airborne contaminants away from the weld zone. Advantages and Disadvantages of MIG Welding The primary advantage of MIG welding is that it allows metal to be welded much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...  The necessity for the inert gas shield means that MIG welding cannot be used in an open area where the wind would blow away the gas shield. Since its development in the middle of the 20th century, MIG welding has become commonplace in many manufacturing operations. For example, it is commonly used in the automobile industry because of its ability to produce clean welds, and the fact that it welds metals quickly. What is TIG Welding? Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is the process of blending together reactive metals such as magnesium and aluminum. The TIG welding method became popular and useful in the early 1940s and, as a result, has greatly propelled the use of aluminum for welding and structural processes. TIG welding is commonly used for both high quality and manual welding. During the process of TIG welding, an arc is formed between a pointed tungsten electrode and the area to be welded. As a result of the gas shield, a clean weld is formed. This prevents oxidization from occurring. The type of gas shielding typically used for TIG welding is argon, helium, or a combination of both. When combined, these two gases can ensure a higher welding speed and welding penetration. Argon is the preference of most welders when it comes to TIG welding. It is often used simply because it is heavier than air and provides better coverage when welding. With TIG welding, one can perform a variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
