Lion Dancing
Lion Dancing Every time when you see youth swiftly glistening over the rampaging ungodly Earth
accompanied with the blistering heated wonder of the orb like sun, it can take you back to your
exhilarating days with no headaches, worries, or obligations also known as, childhood. Worries,
headaches, obligations, these are enemies within ourselves that we must overcome. These flea like
worries are infesting everyone. We are being overwhelmed by these creatures. The only ways to fight
off such beasts are to find relaxation, comfort, and soothing. These can come in different ways such as
an event, a ritual or even a location that eases your mind in tranquility. I have a special event where I
can be at ease and just enjoy: the lion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I head out towards the lion dance, I go through a maze like structure. On my way towards the
dance, an oppressive smell of gunpowder fills the unruly air. You can hear the deafening explosions
from the fire crackers dominating the skies. This place yet so full of commotion, I can just be at ease. I
can just enjoy what I see, the amazing spectacles that the Lion Dancers perform for me. It eludes me
in a carefree manner much like a mindset of a child. After some odd minutes, the maze is at its end.
Just a few more steps towards the carefree experience I have been striving for. Up the stairs, and
around the corner is the great spectacular I have been in search of, the lion dance. The oriental
designed lions, such use of dazzling colors. A blinding white base, with a bold red trim demonstrates
the wise lion. The single horn at the top is dignifying. Such ferociousness of the imitation of a lion, it
holds my interest on how they made it resemble the current lions so well when they didn t exist in
those parts of Asia. The thundering of the drums which so boldly overcomes the explosions from the
firecrackers initiates the dancing of the lions. The Lions with such pride and honor bow towards one
another in a sign of respect and agreement for the battle. The Buddha in high spirits guides the lions
while they brawl for the red envelope and lettuce. The footwork and

The Merneptah Stele and Early ‘Israel’. Essay
The mention of Israel as a people rather than a region in the Merneptah Stele identifies them as an
important socioeconomic entity and therefore a political threat to a hegemonic Egypt. The resilience
of the people Israel was established through a segmented tribal coalition, formed as a religious and
social identity that attributed to their survival in the turbulent times of the early 12th century .
The inclusion of Israel in the Merneptah Stele demonstrates the importance of these people. It was not
in the traditions of the Egyptian scribes to mention an entity that was considered socially inferior or of
little importance in the political environment of the era. Poetic licence and propaganda was employed
to ensure the Egyptian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view contradicts the theory of seed meaning grain so although appearing to be a sound
hypothesis relies too heavily on hyperbole and does not fit with Israel as an established socioeconomic
entity that posed a threat to Egypt.
We may ask the question of why a group of people that were perceived as a hill dwelling rural
sedentary group of agriculturalists threatened the power of hegemonic Egypt. From a geopolitical
perspective Egypt s agenda was to control the coastal highway that included Ashkelon, Gezer and
Yanoam to fortify military strongholds and control the trade route. Israel situated in the hill country
posed an autonomous threat, as had the other city states so it stands to reason it needed to be
conquered to fulfil the Merneptah s campaign goals. It must also be pointed out that it was not unusual
for unrest and rebellion to occur when a new ruler came to the throne. Vassals would have used this
opportunity to test the governing body and try to extricate themselves from the yoke of the oppressor.

Essay about Diamond Coated Machine Tooling
Diamond Coated Machine Tooling
Diamond is the hardest material known to man, in this day and age. Typically, diamonds have been
known to demonstrate hardness values up to 12000 HV (Vickers Hardness) or approximately
100HRC. Diamond coated Tungsten Carbide tools have demonstrated improved machining
characteristics over coated tool steels commonly used today. With the increased use of composites,
ceramics, and other ultra hard / lightweight materials in numerous industries, diamond coated machine
tools are becoming more common since their performance improvements generally out weigh their
increased cost.
This paper is an empirical summary of various research papers related to diamond coating processes

They are primarily used in the mining industry, but are also used for edge finishing of carbon fiber
composites and grinding hard materials like glasses and ceramics [2].
PCD (Poly crystalline Diamond) Coated Tools
PCD tools are similar to bonded diamond grit tools in that they both start with fine diamond particles.
However, the PCD method involves forming the particles into a dense sintered material using a binder
made from cobalt. These cemented compacts are then brazed into various shapes (for different kinds
of cutting tools) and brazed onto solid carbide tool bodies. The PCD tools edge can then be ground
down to a finished shape and even reground for tool sharpening purposes. PCD tools are over 50 years
old and are prevalent in the aerospace industry for drilling rivet holes into carbon fiber composite
materials. The automotive industry also uses these tools for machining of aluminum composites which
contain high silicone content (e.g. Al 390). These tools can be expensive, but are often the best option
for very high precision cuts and high impact loading [2].
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) Diamond Tools
The main focus of this paper will be on CVD tools. Using CVD technology, diamonds are actually
grown (nucleated) onto the surface of a machine tool substrate. For this process to be successful,
careful attention must be paid to the substrate material selection. The

Research Paper On Mobility Scooter
INTRODUCTION:
A mobility scooter is a mobility aid similar to a wheelchair but configured like a motor scooter. It is
often referred to a power operated vehicle or electric scooter.
A mobility scooter has a seat over two rear wheels, a flat area for the feet and handlebars in front to
turn one or two steerable wheels. The seat may swivel to allow access when the front is blocked by the
handlebars. Mobility scooters are usually battery powered. A battery or two is stored on board the
scooter and is charged via an onboard or separate battery charger unit from standard electric power.
Gasoline powered scooters are also available; through they are rapidly being replaced by electric
models.
Assistive and small sit down motor scooters provide important advantages to people with mobility
problems throughout the world. A scooter is useful for persons without the stamina or arm/shoulder
flexibility necessary to use a manual wheelchair. Also, swiveling the seat of an electric scooter is
generally easier than moving conventional wheelchairs. A mobility scooter is very helpful for persons
with systemic or whole body disabling conditions who are still able to stand and walk a few steps, sit
upright without torso support and control the steering tiller.

Ethical Dilemmas In Social Work
Episode 24 Dr. Frederic Reamer: Ethical Dilemmas in Work: Trends and Challenges presented
professional ethical standards for social work in a contemporary setting. Dr. Reamer began by
identifying the Code s humble one page beginning which was confirmed in the 1960 s however, it was
seen as being very shallow. The reason being, it did not address all ethical dilemmas that existed or
would eventually exist within the field of social work. For example, the Code did not address ethical
dilemmas regarding client and their social worker s relationship, value issues, and electronic
communication between social worker and their clients, to name a few. The historical one page Code
entailed 17 principles which was later re developed by a team of experts ... Show more content on

Ethical dilemmas in work is often encountered however, instructions of how to handle the situation is
not always clear. As a social worker, I understand the code of ethics is designed to be used as a tool to
guide our professional behavior as it is necessary. Certainly, what becomes an ethical guideline today
may shift according to the times and dilemma. Dr. Richardson was an expert speaker in providing us
this insight. Furthermore as he mentioned value and duty sometimes clashes, I am reminded when
delivering services ethical decision making tactics to manage ethics risks is expected and should be

Explication of the Cogito Essay
Explication of the Cogito
In his Meditations, Rene Descartes attempts to prove the existence and reality of himself and things
external to himself. In order to fulfill such a feat, Descartes decides to doubt all that he knows, for he
knows not whether that can be relied upon. He doubts his knowledge for three main reasons.
For one, he accounts that in dreams, many times he had thought that things external to himself were
real. Also, he had heard people declare pain in limbs that they had lost long ago. After pondering these
two experiences he declared, the chief and most common mistake which is to be found here consists in
my judging that the ideas which are in me resemble, or conform to, things outside me (Descartes 16).

It is a subject object relationship. In order to question something, there must be something to question,
therefore a questionable object exists. And in order for there to be questioning, some thinking thing,
i.e. Descartes, must be doing the questioning, therefore, he exists. Even if the Evil Genius is
constantly deceiving him, that fact that he is being deceived means that he exists. For this reason,
Descartes could not doubt that he was doubting, and thus was able to conclude that this proposition, I
am, I exist, is necessarily true whenever it is put forward by me or conceived in my mind. (17).
To completely prove his point to the skeptics he had to go further, for how could one realize that
he/she is doubting? Descartes answers that this is possible through natural light intuition. By
establishing that he is a thing that, doubts, questions, thinks, affirms, denies, imagines, and perceives,
through examples, he is able to prove how one could realize his/her doubting. Descartes gives us the
example of the wax that is melted, and the people on the street with coats. If the wax melts, one still
perceives such as wax because the wax is merely something extended, flexible, and changeable (21).
On the street, one could see coats and hats, but one determines that one is seeing people. This, like the
wax, is done through judgement alone, by the intellect alone. With this, Descartes posits that an

The All Black Character Analysis
Since 1905, The All Blacks of New Zealand, have been dominating the game of rugby. They have
taken the world by storm and it is hard for people to understand the origin of their success. Success is
often measured by numbers and perception. Individual spectators often overlook the actions that are
done behind closed doors. Performance is a combination of capabilities and behavior. I believe that
capabilities and behavior both stem from good character. Achieving good character will lead to
success in some way or fashion. The same way that a team captain of a sport should lead their team
can be found in the way a Marine Corps officer should lead their subordinates. The All Black s actions
emulate principles that are found in the Marine Corps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to train marines as a unit, but more importantly as a team. Andrew Mehrtens, a former
All Blacks second highest point scorer of all time, said that If you have personal discipline in your
life, then you are going to be more disciplined on the field. If you re wanting guys to pull together as a
team, you ve got to have that. You don t want a group of individuals. There could be a team with all
the talented individuals in the world, but without character, they will be individuals that accomplish
nothing as a team. Working together as a team will not guarantee the win every time but in the long
run the team will benefit. Collective character is vital to success. Focus on getting the culture right; the
results will follow. The lack of personal discipline could potentially handicap any team. Marines need
to be lead in the way that values character over talent. The presence of good character will ultimately
strengthen the team whether it was a marine unit or a national rugby

The Paleolithic Era
Human technology and social development fostered the rapid movement of people throughout the
globe during the latter phases of the Paleolithic Era. Many developments allowed the early hunter
gathers to cope with various environmental pressures. The first development is fire which was the
advance towards human technology. Fire was considered the most centered element in their culture.
They formed the technique to preserve glowing embers and starting fires by rubbing sticks together.
This technique led to many improvements in the Paleolithic people. It allowed people to eat much a
wider range of food since they could now cook them. With fire, they could eat animals such as cow,
goat, and chicken. Not only was fire used to cook meat, but it

Dostoyevsky ‘Notes from Underground’ Critique Essay
Notes from Underground was published in 1864 as a feature presentation of his first 1860 issue The
Epoch . Notes from Underground was written by the author during a time when he faced many
challenges in his life. Dostoyevsky faced failure in the publishing of his first journal Time , his
financial position was becoming weaker and embarrassing. Moreover, his wife was dying and his
conservatism was eroded leading to a decline in his popularity with the liberal reading Russians and
consequently, he became the focus of attack by the radical and liberal press (Fanger 3). Therefore, this
research seeks to find how the author presents the aspect of underground man and how he approached

By the time the author had completed writing Notes from Underground the society had moved to
liberalism and abandoned reasoning and enlightenment (Frank 35). This is clearly represented in this
novel since by the end, as the author concluded that there was more to man than enlightenment and
reasoning.
The underground man is an educated, literate, forty year old financially stable man, who, lives in a
modern society. As the novel progresses, the underground man remembers the days he used to work
without any affection. The man lives now alone in a place described as unattractive where he is
completely cut off from friends and family (Fanger 5). This situation provides an indication of the
troubles underground man is going through for they do not arise from work, money problems or the
lack of social interaction opportunities. This man has money, is educated and has plenty of social
interaction opportunities but he d rather remain in his solitude, Dostoevsky shows that in all respect
the man has reached enlightenment (Frank 36).
The problems of underground man are all concerned with what is happening to him from the inside.
This man is suffering from a disease that arises from his lack of feeling completely healthy. Though
the novel has depicted many medical discussions on doctors, liver problems, medicines, the real
disease is emotional distress. The entire first section of the book is about how emotionally troubled the

Description of a Trip to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey
When deciding on a place for my science trip, I knew the perfect place would be the Liberty Science

was a great deal to learn there. What I didn?t realize was how much it had been updated since I was
there last. There are so many advances going on in science and technology, it?s all so amazing. What
surprised me most, is that even at age 19, I still had as much fun there as I did when I was 9. When I

although we believe that the earth revolves around the sun, some cultures believe that the sun revolves
around the earth. They have actual facts to back up these beliefs, and it is easy to see that both points
are valid. The next exhibit was called ?Health?. Here I played a genetics game that told me that some
of my own physical characteristics are very common among people and how some of them are unique
only to me. Next I visited ?One Race.? Here I learned how little of a person?s genetic makeup actually
decides skin color. I found it interesting how just a little something on the inside makes such a great
change on the outside. The last exhibit of the gallery was called ?Prejudices.? Here I saw a model of a
slave ship and I was able to stand inside a box the same size as that of which slaves traveled in on
boats. It was a very unusual experience for me.
The next floor I visited was the Health Floor. All of the exhibits were about the study of the human
body. The first one I visited here was the ?Touch Tunnel.? This was a one hundred foot long,
completely dark tunnel that I had to crawl through to see how well my sense of touch could guide me.
Luckily, I made it out in one piece. Next I visited the ?Issues Arcade.? Here I was able to take many

There are just two weeks before opening day and instead of talking about who s going to make each

former White Sox first baseman Adam Laroche. Laroche retired earlier this week because White Sox
GM Kenny Williams asked him to cut back on the time his son Drake spent in the clubhouse.
First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I

Somehow I think if he hit 250 with 25 homers this issue wouldn t even have come about I don t think.
There are some unwritten rules in baseball and I think one of them includes the clubhouse being a
sanctuary allowing the players to be themselves and create that camaraderie and chemistry needed to
help win baseball games. I think having kids in the clubhouse are great because baseball is so
demanding and players live seven months out of a suitcase but I think there has to be some sort of line
drawn or rules in place so this situation doesn t ever become problematic.
The only good thing for the White Sox is it clears 13.1 million financially for the team to spend
elsewhere. Image wise it s terrible because it s going to be a distraction all year answering questions
about a difference in opinion. The White Sox have been very inconsistent the past few seasons and
now they will have this cloud over them when in reality all they wanted to do is focus on winning

Government Intervention And The Internet
Government Intervention in the Internet
A growing concern over our privacy online is causing us to seek legislation to protect us. Although
this may seem harmless and beneficial for all, there are many valid points as to why the government
should not intervene. When it comes to privacy online, the responsibility should be left in the hands of
the people that disclose such information in the first place. Government involvement should not be
allowed for the sake of our privacy, because it may come at the cost of being censored, losing
technical expertise, losing innovation, and DE unifying the internet. Despite all this, many still argue
in favor of government intervention. The majority of the reasons behind anyone that may argue in
favor of government intervention is the added protection to our private information from criminals
(Jason H.), and the vast amounts of explicit adult media that can be accessed by anyone, especially
children. What many may not know is that these problems can be handled by the people. Many
popular social and banking sites have effective countermeasures to protect the privacy of their users.
Although these security systems are robust, the user should be wary that their information may be
compromised if not handled correctly. Users should be careful about posting sensitive material on sites
that are easily susceptible to security breaches. Changing passwords regularly, avoiding sharing
information with strangers and destroying waste files with

Stem Cells And Its Effects On Development During The First...
Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are bodily cells that are in development during the first stages of
life. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons,
blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of
diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available
to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them
from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of
the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical
advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans
suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the
old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable
brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells
have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are
unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing
them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the
blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are
interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy
Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and
unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of
mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. Then in 1986,
researchers found that they could revert connective tissue collected from mice back into mytoblasts,
what generates

Baby Step 1: Put $1000 in a Beginner Fund
This may not seem like a major move in becoming debt free, but it gives us well needed practice in
changing our behaviors to start becoming money minded. For me this was a step that was already
complete, however, for some this may be the hardest step to take because it requires them to change
and become committed to a new process (Ramsey, 2012).
Baby Step 2: Pay Off All Debt Using the Debt Snowball
The debt snowball is a simple concept by which the user makes a list of all of their outstanding debts
from lowest to highest and starts paying them off. This step takes some coordination through
budgeting and lifestyle reduction. In the Chapter titled Dumping Debt , Dave states that the first thing
we should do to eliminate debt, is to quit borrowing money, which includes using credit cards
(Ramsey, 2012). This is such a profound revelation, taking that credit card debt is up to 887 billion
dollars as of January 2015 (Nasdaq, 2014).

The Influences Of Mahler s Work As A Conductor And Composer
How does one codify the influences of Mahler s work as a conductor and composer? As Gustav
Mahler is well known for his conducting, he is best known for his skills as a composer. Mahler s
interpretative style enabled him, undistracted by the army of gossipers who in all walks of life gather
round the success seekers, to develop, to grow, to mature, to live his works and to create, as Schubert
created his songs, Bruckner his symphonies and Masses, and Wagner his music dramas (Grange).
However, Leonard Bernstein sometimes felt (according to PBS American Masters video on Bernstein)
like he had become Mahler in his performances. Gustav Mahler has become an iconic figure in the
eyes of other conductors/composers, because it helped them become masters of their own works with
the influential ideas of Mahler.
Born on July 7, 1860, in Kalischt, Bohemia, Gustav Mahler was a late Romantic composer and one of
the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th
century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. While in his lifetime his
status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music gained wide popularity only
after periods of relative neglect which included a ban on its performance in much of Europe during the
Nazi era. However, Mahler also was a Jew, and Jews in the region were associated by ethnic Czechs
with Germans. Mahler s famous quote is: I am thrice homeless, as a native of

Arguments In Dealing With Dragons
While reading the novel, Dealing with Dragons , by Patricia C. Wrede, one could ask if someone like
Cimorene, a princess in the story, should be justified if they go against what expectations are made of
them and why that should ever be approved of. However, Cimorene was completely justified in
ignoring the social norms of her day because it is very clear that she was never content with being a
princess in that kingdom, she was only truly happy in living an improper life away from her heredity,
and she is far more intelligent than most men, yet she is still treated like a lesser human being while in
her kingdom that proves to only be keeping her behind from accomplishing great things. In the novel,
Dealing with Dragons , it is made very clear that Cimorene immensely loathes being a princess in the
Kingdom of Linderwall because of the social norms that she is forced to abide by. The author states,
Then what, exactly is your problem? ... This! Cimorene gestured at the castle around her. Embroidery
lessons, and dancing, and and being a princess! . This event occurs when Cimorene fairy godmother
comes to the castle for a visit. Cimorene blatantly states that everything involved in her life is exactly
her problem and because that, one can find that she was justified to run away from a life that she
despises. Furthermore, this shows that Cimorene had a motive to run away from what would be an
inexorable marriage because of her parents and that she never wanted to hurt

Cannery Row Doc And Mack Relationship
In John Steinbeck s Cannery Row, two main characters, Doc and Mack, set up the main plot for the
book. Mack and his gang of misfit men, also known as the boys , decide that Doc is a good man and
deserves a party. After careful planning and hard work to pull it off, the party still goes wrong and Doc
s house gets destroyed. The whole Row shuns Mack and the boys and everything in the town starts
going wrong, until Doc helps the boys with their dog and they in thanks, throw him another, this time
successful, party. Through many events in Cannery Row, it is hinted that the relationship between Doc
and Mack affects the entire Row and is contingent with contrasting use of similar intellect.

Mack is a character who does not seem to be successful or wealthy at the beginning of Cannery Row;
however, he proves his intellect throughout the events of the story. During this novella, Mack and the
boys hunt for frogs to get some money. In the forest, the men come across the owner of the land, who
is threatening Mack and the boys to get off his property. Mack tells the owner about the frogs and
what these animals will be used for, and says They (scientists) give cancer to the frogs and then they
can study and experiment and they got it nearly licked if they can just get some frogs (79). In this
circumstance, Mack uses his knowledge and intelligence to manipulate the situation to fit his own
personal interests, by holding a conversation about cancer research. This character uses his wit to have
contentment in life with the boys; most men fail at achieving contentment in life, but Mack and the
boys absorb this fulfillment in their own ways. Mack s success is defined by how he utilizes the

Essay on the Rental Heart
Most people have tried it before, and those that haven t are either too young to have tried it, or simply
just heartless. It s terrible and beautiful all at the same time, which is probably why it s such a great
topic for stories. However, getting your heart broken at some point in your life is inevitable. For some,
it happens more than once. This is the case for our main character in the short story The Rental Heart ,
by Kirsty Logan.
To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head
though, I got the image of a girl. The story is about this girl, who gets her heart broken over and over
again, by boys as well as girls (she is bisexual). It s not really a problem for her, because she ... Show

Maybe it s simply a whole different world! She also uses many symbols, especially to express how
love feels to the main character. The heart was dusty and tarnished and utterly empty . This shows the
reader just how heart broken she was. Her heart hasn t felt real love in a long time, so it is dusty. It has
been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her with nothing more
than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn t really an island that
she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally, unable to deal with the world
with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she was actually away on an island.
What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact that
even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it again, it s
nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real life you can t
just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about it . Healing a
broken heart takes time in the real, non fictional world. Just changing it like it s nothing, that s the real
science fiction in the story.
All in all, we should be glad that we don t have these kinds of rental services available. It would be
way too boring. What makes life exciting is that it s fragile; you never know

Decade of Corporate Greed
Decade of Corporate Greed Dale Schroll University of Phoenix Axia College As Ronald Reagan

for every millionaire there were several hundred homeless people. With this came more negativity that

their mouthpieces in the media, while the truth we found out later is that indeed it was these rich
people who were ripping us off and actually were responsible for dragging down the economy. Going
as far to blaming the poor the city of Los Angeles installed a fingerprint system to guard against
welfare fraud that cost the city and hardworking tax payers 30 million dollars, and for all of this it

Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Tempest
On Thursday 1st December 2016, the RSC s (Royal Shakespeare Company) production of The
Tempest was performed to an audience of around one thousand people at the Royal Shakespeare
Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. It was directed by the RSC s artistic director Gregory Doran, whose
version s aim was to break new boundaries in theatre making through its heavy reliance on cutting
edge technology to create magnificent spectacles and revitalise used tropes of past productions. Being
the first classical production to use live motion capture, Doran s imagination severs Shakespeare s last
play from some of its old ties and shifts it into the twenty first century. The play begins in media res,
enthralling the audience by immediately throwing them into chaos and disarray from the very first
scene. Martin Meisel states that the printed play acts as a manual or a blueprint for performance and
thus the RSC s performance, with its crescendo of thunderous music, flashing visual projections and
erratic lighting to mimic a storm brought the playwright s words to life before the audience s eyes. It
could be argued that the shipwreck in Act I Scene I captivated the audience s senses by creating strong
visual and auditory cues to invoke a sense of enigmatic intrigue and perhaps fear at the frantic scene,
placing them at the forefront of the shipwreck itself. The spectacle of this nautical scene could also
mirror the importance of expedition and voyage during the 1600 s, whether such travels

Text Messaging Affecting Teen Literacy
Introduction Texting can be both good and bad for students writing skills. As stated in Christine
Erickson s article A Brief History of Text Messaging text messaging, or SMS, was developed in the
Franco German GSM cooperation in 1984 by Friedhelm Hillebrand and Bernard Ghillebaert. Texting
has come a long way into existence. Texting, or SMS (short message service) is a method of
communication that sends text between cell phones or from a PC or handheld to a cell phone stated by
Christine Erickson. As I have done a lot of research I have found that the brain can receive messages

Texting Affecting Teen Literacy Many kids/teens use short handed text. The over use of texting affects
the way students write in class.(2) Teenagers use text messaging more than any other form of

Why I Started Working With Dontae
When I started working with Dontae I tried to be open minded and not interact with him with theories
floating around in my mind. I was taught in my undergraduate career that conversations with your
clients should feel natural and because I was nervous to showcase my abilities at a new placement I
did not want say the wrong thing and to ruin my ability to make a deep connection with Dontae later.
In addition I considered that Dontae may not be his true self for at least a week because he would be
new to the program and not know any or many of the other residents. I decided during the initial
intake that although I had read all the faxed documents and psychiatric evaluations on Dontae that I
would speak to him and determine for myself what was going on for him.
During Dontae s initial week at MTR I observed Dontae s interactions with others and assessed his
coping skills. I introjected myself into what he was doing to ensure that he adjusted well to MTR staff
and residents. I began to formulate some thoughts as to what was happening for Dontae but tried to
keep an open mind about him as a person. Moreover during the course of my work with Dontae I
began by making sure that I aligned myself with Dontae and made sure that he understood that I was
here to help him rather than hurt him. I made sure that Dontae felt like I cared about him and that he
understood that his all around wellbeing is a priority for me. My purpose for aligning myself with

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Density Forecasts
The density forecast of a random variable is an estimation based on the past observed data. This is a
symmetric interval prediction which means that the outcomes will fall into an interval that is a band of
plus/minus a fixed times of standard errors. The estimation provides a probability distribution of all
possible future values of that variable. Over the past decades, the price density forecast has been
widely used to study microeconomic and financial issues. Forecasting the future development of the
economy is of great importance for proper government monetary decisions and individual risk
management. A good macroeconomic density forecast presents a subjective description of inflationary
pressure and other information related to economics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

James K. Polk And Manifest Destiny
James K. Polk was elected as president of the United States in 1848 and with him he brought a
determination to expand territory more than any other president had before. In his one term
administration he expanded the country by two thirds. Polks hunger for more land resulted in a war
with Mexico over Texas which evoked lots of opposition from the Whig party. The idea of Manifest
Destiny was germinating throughout Democrats everywhere, countering the Whig ideology of true
republicanism . They believed A nation cannot simultaneously devote its energies to the absorption of
others territories and the improvement of its own, (pg, 49). Polk ignored this belief and soon John C.
Fremont was declaring California independent and Stephen Watts Kearny was leading his army to
several victories south of the Rio Grande. Nicholas Trist was able to get Mexico to sign the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo, recognizing the Rio Grande boundary of Texas and ceding New Mexico and
upper Californian to the US. Now that this triumph of Manifest Destiny was complete, the question of
expanding slavery to the newly acquired territories arose. Polk assumed there would not be slavery
there because it would simply not work in the natural conditions of the lands but southerners strongly
disagreed. Northern congressmen tried to pass a resolution known as the Wilmot Proviso to exclude
slavery from the new territory, extremely infuriating southerners and dividing the parties into a
conflict of sections.

Ethics help a person decide if the person should or should not be doing something. If someone only

Another way Charlie Gordon s doctors were not ethical was that they were not rationalizing and they

Literary Symbols In Graphic Novels
When picking up a graphic novel about civil rights you might not expect it to have as much content or
value as books such as Why We Can t Wait and Bearing the Cross by Martin Luther King Jr.
Traditional literary texts are widely accepted, whereas graphic novels are often viewed as childish due
to the comic book style. However, illustrations in graphic novels enhance literary meaning by proving
additional context, emotion, and characterization. John Lewis s graphic novel March Book Two , more
specifically the Burning Bus Scene , Nick Powell, the illustrator, uses context, emotion, and
characterization to make Lewis s point especially clear.
Graphic novel illustrations provide context to construct future events. John Lewis, while participating
in a Freedom Ride from Washington D.C. to New Orleans, had received an invitation to participate in
a service project in India. As a result, Lewis got off the bus and stayed the night at Friendship Junior
College after some trouble in Rock Hill, SC. Lewis decided to turn down the service opportunity and
instead wanted to meet back up with the bus in Nashville. Before continuing his Freedom Ride, John
Lewis attended a picnic to celebrate the successful desegregation of a community theater. Lewis

Persuasive Essay On Global Warming
Our world has adapted to the changes that come with our personal actions. Many of these actions
initiated around the time of The industrial revolution and the advances in technology generated issues
such as pollution. As time went on, one conflict became more evident, global warming. Global
warming is when there is a rise in the average temperature of the Earth s climate system.
Environmental policies should be more enforced in order to make progress in our environments
because global warming alters ecosystems and generates danger to human life. People should also be
able to contribute in a positive way because global warming also causes changes in things such as sea
levels, temperature, diseases,etc.
The individuals that currently reside on planet earth carry out harmful actions that have generated
issues such as climate change. The Earth s average temperature has increased over the last decade and
has affected agricultural aspects around the world. In areas where farming takes place, water is
essential in order to sustain crops. Climate change alters the way farmers take care of their crops
because water has become more scarce throughout the years . As the extremities in weather patterns
becomes more common, more frequent droughts are bound to occur. People in urban areas depend on
food that derives from rural areas, therefore climate change is a threat to us. Colder environments are
also affected by climate because many ice glaciers are rapidly melting.

Paper On Vitiligo
According to, Le Poole and Van den Wijngaard, vitiligo is a dermatological disorder characterized by
destruction of melanocytes and loss of pigmentation. Generalized vitiligo or non segmental vitiligo
(NSV) is characterized by white patches, often symmetrical, that usually increase in size with time,
corresponding to a substantial loss of functioning epidermal and in some cases hair follicle
melanocytes. According to a study done in 1983 by Naughton, Eisinger, and Bystryn, it affects
approximately 500,000 persons in the United States. There aren t many treatment options at the

Loss of the functionality of melanocytes is responsible for vitiligo but the real cause of vitiligo is
unknown. However, some conditions including autoimmune, genetic, neural, viral infections and
oxidative stress could have an important role in the onset of vitiligo. There are three hypotheses for its
pathogenesis including biochemical cytotoxic, neural, and autoimmune: the biochemical/cytotoxic
hypothesis emphasizes that vitiligo occurs when the melanocyte is killed by cytotoxic precursors to
melanin synthesis; the neural hypothesis is based on nerve injury development with affected sites that
leads to segmental vitiligo with neurons that interact with melanocytes and release melano cytotoxic
substrates; the autoimmune hypothesis is based on genetic data which are more associated to
autoimmune diseases (E. Ghafourian, S. Ghafourian, N. sadeghifard, R. Mohebi, Y. Shokooittni. S.
Nezamoleslam and R.A. Hamat). The onset of vitiligo is mainly seen in children, although, in rare
cases it can be seen in adults. It is usually acquired before the age of 20 and will continue to intensify
for many people. According to, Njoo, Bos, and Westerhof, a Dutch study found that among 1061
patients with vitiligo 25% of the patients noted the onset of vitiligo before the age of 10 years, 50%
before thee age of 20, and 95% before the age of 40. Of the total population of patients with vitiligo,
between 23% and 26% have been reported to be children younger than 12 years. Research and

now as another. So we interpret it, and see it as we interpret it (PI II). (3) In §118, Wittgenstein alludes
to a diagram (derived from Jastrow, depicted below) of what one may ordinarily interpret as a duck or
a rabbit. This section demonstrates that one may see an ambiguous picture in one way (e.g., seeing the
duck), and then the aspect dawns on them that the picture could be otherwise (e.g., it could be a
rabbit). (PI II, §118). (4) In §141, Wittgenstein continues the discourse on aspects dawning (or aspects
lighting up ) by pointing to an example in which one suddenly recognizes a familiar aspect of an
object by placing the object in an unusual position or lighting (PI II). §143 similarly discusses the
dawning of an aspect, when one comes to notice an old acquaintance they had not seen in years
because they come to recognize the former face in the altered one

Hart s Concept Of The Existence Of A Legal System
Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system is made out of these three differences. Behind the
concept is a structure built with great care. Thus far perhaps this Article has injured only the surface of
the network and has not yet come to grasps with Hart s concept of law. Rolf Sartorius would agree, for
he contends that Hart s two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system establish nothing
more than purely formal criteria for the existence of a legal system. As such, they could be satisfied by
the rules, officials, and players of the National Football League, as well as many other rule
administered social organizations. It will prove informative to intensify and study Sartorius s position
to provide a firmer grasp of Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system and of the connection
between this concept and Hart s concept of law. Sartorius contends that Hart surely is aware of the
inadequacy of defining law and morals in formal terms. The two minimum conditions for the
existence of a legal system, Sartorius struggles, are relevant neither to Hart s concept of a legal system
nor to his concept of law: If one is intending upon removing from Hart s analysis a definition of legal
system , indeed, if one wants a complete picture of Hart s concept of law, one must put together: (1)
what is said about the union of primary and secondary rules with (2) what Hart contends is the
minimal content of Natural Law shared by both law and morals, and then combine

Neuroenhancing Drugs Analysis
In a society where quantity of work overpowers quality of work, there is no wonder why
neuroenhancing drugs such as Adderall and Ritalin are on the rise of consumption. As more people
adopt the idea that these drugs are cognitively beneficial; the more they secretly use them for non
medical reasons. Margaret Talbot, a writer for The New Yorker, looks more into this problem in her
article, From Brain Gain: The Underground World of Neuroenhancing Drugs . Throughout this article
Talbot focuses on a new trend of drug use, such as Adderall and Ritalin, for non medical intentions.
She focuses mainly on the increase of drug use by scholars and public intellectuals throughout her
article. Talbot successfully proves to her audience that non medical ... Show more content on

include nervousness, headaches, sleeplessness, and the even have a high potential for abuse. Talbot
warns the readers that using drugs in this type of manner could ultimately harm them in the long run.
She stresses that the way society focuses more on taking these drugs to help complete work rather than

interviews. She picks what kind of things to put in the essay and only uses the part of the interviews

Horse Grooming Steps
It is a horse owner s job to care for the horse that includes grooming the animal. Grooming a horse has
many steps and takes many tools. In order to fully groom a horse it s entire body must be brushed
along with the mane and tail. All of these steps take a large amount of time. Brushing a horse is a dirty
job, plan on wearing clothes that can get dirty. The following paragraphs will explain how to properly
groom a horse. THese steps can be completed in another order however this seems to be the most
efficient order.
In order to groom a horse, first the horse must be caught from pasture. A pasture is a grassy fenced in
area where the horse will spend a majority of its time. To catch the horse a halter and lead rope are
needed. A halter is normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a rubber mit that has a strap to go around the groomers hand, and the bottom has rows of nubs.
These help to remove dirt from the body of the horse. Brush the entire body of the horse, starting with
the higher areas of but not the main, tail or face, with the curry comb. With the bristles facing the
horse, move the brush in a pattern following the way the hair grows. This method is similar to how
people pet cats or dogs. Use less pressure when brushing the stomach of a horse because that is a more
sensitive area. Once the entire body has been brushed with a curry comb the next tool needed is a
medium bristle brush. The brush is flat and has approximately two inch bristles they are slightly firm
but not extremely hard. Follow the direction of the hair when brushing the entire body of the horse.
Lasty a soft bristle brush is needed for the sensitive areas of the horse. This brush will look similar to
the medium bristle brush it will be the same approximate seven inches long flat surface with two inch
long bristles, but these bristles are very soft and flexible. It will feel similar to the bristles of a new
paint brush. This brush is useful when brushing the face and legs of the horse, but be careful of the
eyes of the horse. Also brush down the legs of the horse. Be cautious not to apply too much pressure
on the legs of the horse. After grooming the body of the horse the mane and tail are

The Helping Process
The Helping Process Journal 1 Definition: Helping is about other people in need of help to improve or
grow towards their personal goals which build on their abilities for managing with their life. The
experience I acquired over the years of my adulthood is described as informal method of helping
process. Reading this chapter on helping process, create an understanding on what I have been doing
for people directly or indirectly. The text on helping process reminded me I have been practicing road
map through the complicated roadway of helping people. Sometimes I encountered problems with
regrets or happiness. These regrets was as a result of presumptive negative outcomes where the helpee
s parent it as been given wrong advice and but eventually ended with positive outcomes. On the flip
side, right from onset of the helping process, I see signs of confidence in whatever advice I am giving
and they followed through with positive outcomes. I feel happy in myself and the helpee s too feels
happy and confidence in the helping relationship. I recognized my limitations and I always expressly
discussed it right from the beginning of helping process. My suggestion to helpee is to seek
professional advice if necessary. The role I had played shows that I performed two simple phases of
building relationship and facilitating positive action. I have helped friends, families and acquaintances
in the past in getting post secondary admission into Canadian Universities as international

Essay The mention of Israel as a people rather than a region in the Merneptah Stele identifies them as an important socioeconomic entity and therefore a political threat to a hegemonic Egypt. The resilience of the people Israel was established through a segmented tribal coalition, formed as a religious and social identity that attributed to their survival in the turbulent times of the early 12th century . The inclusion of Israel in the Merneptah Stele demonstrates the importance of these people. This view contradicts the theory of seed meaning grain so although appearing to be a sound hypothesis relies too heavily on hyperbole and does not fit with Israel as an established socioeconomic entity that posed a threat to Egypt. We may ask the question of why a group of people that were perceived as a hill dwelling rural sedentary group of agriculturalists threatened the power of hegemonic Egypt. From a geopolitical perspective Egypt s agenda was to control the coastal highway that included Ashkelon, Gezer and Yanoam to fortify military strongholds and control the trade route. Israel situated in the hill country posed an autonomous threat, as had the other city states so it stands to reason it needed to be conquered to fulfil the Merneptah s campaign goals. Diamond coated Tungsten Carbide tools have demonstrated improved machining characteristics over coated tool steels commonly used today. With the increased use of composites, ceramics, and other ultra hard / lightweight materials in numerous industries, diamond coated machine tools are becoming more common since their performance improvements generally out weigh their increased cost. They are primarily used in the mining industry, but are also used for edge finishing of carbon fiber composites and grinding hard materials like glasses and ceramics [2]. PCD (Poly crystalline Diamond) Coated Tools PCD tools are similar to bonded diamond grit tools in that they both start with fine diamond particles. However, the PCD method involves forming the particles into a dense sintered material using a binder made from cobalt. These cemented compacts are then brazed into various shapes (for different kinds of cutting tools) and brazed onto solid carbide tool bodies. The PCD tools edge can then be ground down to a finished shape and even reground for tool sharpening purposes. PCD tools are over 50 years old and are prevalent in the aerospace industry for drilling rivet holes into carbon fiber composite materials. The automotive industry also uses these tools for machining of aluminum composites which contain high silicone content (e.g. Al 390). These tools can be expensive, but are often the best option for very high precision cuts and high impact loading [2]. In order to fulfill such a feat, Descartes decides to doubt all that he knows, for he knows not whether that can be relied upon. He doubts his knowledge for three main reasons. For one, he accounts that in dreams, many times he had thought that things external to himself were real. Also, he had heard people declare pain in limbs that they had lost long ago. After pondering these two experiences he declared, the chief and most common mistake which is to be found here consists in my judging that the ideas which are in me resemble, or conform to, things outside me (Descartes 16). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a subject object relationship. In order to question something, there must be something to question, therefore a questionable object exists. And in order for there to be questioning, some thinking thing, i.e. Descartes, must be doing the questioning, therefore, he exists. Even if the Evil Genius is constantly deceiving him, that fact that he is being deceived means that he exists. For this reason, Descartes could not doubt that he was doubting, and thus was able to conclude that this proposition, I am, I exist, is necessarily true whenever it is put forward by me or conceived in my mind. (17). To completely prove his point to the skeptics he had to go further, for how could one realize that he/she is doubting? Descartes answers that this is possible through natural light intuition. By establishing that he is a thing that, doubts, questions, thinks, affirms, denies, imagines, and perceives, through examples, he is able to prove how one could realize his/her doubting. Descartes gives us the example of the wax that is melted, and the people on the street with coats. If the wax melts, one still perceives such as wax because the wax is merely something extended, flexible, and changeable (21). They have taken the world by storm and it is hard for people to understand the origin of their success. Success is often measured by numbers and perception. Individual spectators often overlook the actions that are done behind closed doors. Performance is a combination of capabilities and behavior. I believe that capabilities and behavior both stem from good character. Achieving good character will lead to success in some way or fashion. If you re wanting guys to pull together as a team, you ve got to have that. You don t want a group of individuals. There could be a team with all the talented individuals in the world, but without character, they will be individuals that accomplish nothing as a team. Working together as a team will not guarantee the win every time but in the long run the team will benefit. Collective character is vital to success. This is clearly represented in this novel since by the end, as the author concluded that there was more to man than enlightenment and reasoning. The underground man is an educated, literate, forty year old financially stable man, who, lives in a modern society. As the novel progresses, the underground man remembers the days he used to work without any affection. The man lives now alone in a place described as unattractive where he is completely cut off from friends and family (Fanger 5). This situation provides an indication of the troubles underground man is going through for they do not arise from work, money problems or the lack of social interaction opportunities. This man has money, is educated and has plenty of social interaction opportunities but he d rather remain in his solitude, Dostoevsky shows that in all respect the man has reached enlightenment (Frank 36). The problems of underground man are all concerned with what is happening to him from the inside. This man is suffering from a disease that arises from his lack of feeling completely healthy. First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I completely agree with, but bringing your kid to work 100% of the time is a bit ridiculous nowhere in the world does that happen so I completely agree with the White Sox organization in that aspect it s not like he said stop bringing him forever just reduce the amount ... • 13. Government Intervention And The Internet Government Intervention in the Internet A growing concern over our privacy online is causing us to seek legislation to protect us. Although this may seem harmless and beneficial for all, there are many valid points as to why the government should not intervene. When it comes to privacy online, the responsibility should be left in the hands of the people that disclose such information in the first place. Government involvement should not be allowed for the sake of our privacy, because it may come at the cost of being censored, losing technical expertise, losing innovation, and DE unifying the internet. Despite all this, many still argue in favor of government intervention. The majority of the reasons behind anyone that may argue in favor of government intervention is the added protection to our private information from criminals (Jason H.), and the vast amounts of explicit adult media that can be accessed by anyone, especially children. What many may not know is that these problems can be handled by the people. Many popular social and banking sites have effective countermeasures to protect the privacy of their users. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons, blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. As Gustav Mahler is well known for his conducting, he is best known for his skills as a composer. Mahler s interpretative style enabled him, undistracted by the army of gossipers who in all walks of life gather round the success seekers, to develop, to grow, to mature, to live his works and to create, as Schubert created his songs, Bruckner his symphonies and Masses, and Wagner his music dramas (Grange). However, Leonard Bernstein sometimes felt (according to PBS American Masters video on Bernstein) like he had become Mahler in his performances. Gustav Mahler has become an iconic figure in the eyes of other conductors/composers, because it helped them become masters of their own works with the influential ideas of Mahler. Born on July 7, 1860, in Kalischt, Bohemia, Gustav Mahler was a late Romantic composer and one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. While in his lifetime his status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music gained wide popularity only after periods of relative neglect which included a ban on its performance in much of Europe during the Nazi era. Wrede, one could ask if someone like Cimorene, a princess in the story, should be justified if they go against what expectations are made of them and why that should ever be approved of. Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Tempest On Thursday 1st December 2016, the RSC s (Royal Shakespeare Company) production of The Tempest was performed to an audience of around one thousand people at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. It was directed by the RSC s artistic director Gregory Doran, whose version s aim was to break new boundaries in theatre making through its heavy reliance on cutting edge technology to create magnificent spectacles and revitalise used tropes of past productions. Being the first classical production to use live motion capture, Doran s imagination severs Shakespeare s last play from some of its old ties and shifts it into the twenty first century. The play begins in media res, enthralling the audience by immediately throwing them into chaos and disarray from the very first scene. Martin Meisel states that the printed play acts as a manual or a blueprint for performance and thus the RSC s performance, with its crescendo of thunderous music, flashing visual projections and erratic lighting to mimic a storm brought the playwright s words to life before the audience s eyes. It could be argued that the shipwreck in Act I Scene I captivated the audience s senses by creating strong visual and auditory cues to invoke a sense of enigmatic intrigue and perhaps fear at the frantic scene, placing them at the forefront of the shipwreck itself. I was taught in my undergraduate career that conversations with your clients should feel natural and because I was nervous to showcase my abilities at a new placement I did not want say the wrong thing and to ruin my ability to make a deep connection with Dontae later. In addition I considered that Dontae may not be his true self for at least a week because he would be new to the program and not know any or many of the other residents. I decided during the initial intake that although I had read all the faxed documents and psychiatric evaluations on Dontae that I would speak to him and determine for myself what was going on for him. During Dontae s initial week at MTR I observed Dontae s interactions with others and assessed his coping skills. I introjected myself into what he was doing to ensure that he adjusted well to MTR staff and residents. I began to formulate some thoughts as to what was happening for Dontae but tried to keep an open mind about him as a person. Moreover during the course of my work with Dontae I began by making sure that I aligned myself with Dontae and made sure that he understood that I was here to help him rather than hurt him. I made sure that Dontae felt like I cared about him and that he understood that his all around wellbeing is a priority for me. My purpose for aligning myself with Dontae and creating a working ... • 31. James K. Polk And Manifest Destiny James K. Polk was elected as president of the United States in 1848 and with him he brought a determination to expand territory more than any other president had before. In his one term administration he expanded the country by two thirds. Polks hunger for more land resulted in a war with Mexico over Texas which evoked lots of opposition from the Whig party. The idea of Manifest Destiny was germinating throughout Democrats everywhere, countering the Whig ideology of true republicanism . They believed A nation cannot simultaneously devote its energies to the absorption of others territories and the improvement of its own, (pg, 49). Polk ignored this belief and soon John C. Fremont was declaring California independent and Stephen Watts Kearny was leading his army to several victories south of the Rio Grande. Nicholas Trist was able to get Mexico to sign the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, recognizing the Rio Grande boundary of Texas and ceding New Mexico and upper Californian to the US. Now that this triumph of Manifest Destiny was complete, the question of expanding slavery to the newly acquired territories arose. Polk assumed there would not be slavery there because it would simply not work in the natural conditions of the lands but southerners strongly disagreed. Northern congressmen tried to pass a resolution known as the Wilmot Proviso to exclude slavery from the new territory, extremely infuriating southerners and dividing the parties into a conflict of sections. ... • 33. Literary Symbols In Graphic Novels When picking up a graphic novel about civil rights you might not expect it to have as much content or value as books such as Why We Can t Wait and Bearing the Cross by Martin Luther King Jr. Traditional literary texts are widely accepted, whereas graphic novels are often viewed as childish due to the comic book style. However, illustrations in graphic novels enhance literary meaning by proving additional context, emotion, and characterization. John Lewis s graphic novel March Book Two , more specifically the Burning Bus Scene , Nick Powell, the illustrator, uses context, emotion, and characterization to make Lewis s point especially clear. Graphic novel illustrations provide context to construct future events. Many of these actions initiated around the time of The industrial revolution and the advances in technology generated issues such as pollution. As time went on, one conflict became more evident, global warming. Global warming is when there is a rise in the average temperature of the Earth s climate system. The Earth s average temperature has increased over the last decade and has affected agricultural aspects around the world. In areas where farming takes place, water is essential in order to sustain crops. Climate change alters the way farmers take care of their crops because water has become more scarce throughout the years . As the extremities in weather patterns becomes more common, more frequent droughts are bound to occur. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Loss of the functionality of melanocytes is responsible for vitiligo but the real cause of vitiligo is unknown. However, some conditions including autoimmune, genetic, neural, viral infections and oxidative stress could have an important role in the onset of vitiligo. There are three hypotheses for its pathogenesis including biochemical cytotoxic, neural, and autoimmune: the biochemical/cytotoxic hypothesis emphasizes that vitiligo occurs when the melanocyte is killed by cytotoxic precursors to melanin synthesis; the neural hypothesis is based on nerve injury development with affected sites that leads to segmental vitiligo with neurons that interact with melanocytes and release melano cytotoxic substrates; the autoimmune hypothesis is based on genetic data which are more associated to autoimmune diseases (E. Behind the concept is a structure built with great care. Thus far perhaps this Article has injured only the surface of the network and has not yet come to grasps with Hart s concept of law. Rolf Sartorius would agree, for he contends that Hart s two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system establish nothing more than purely formal criteria for the existence of a legal system. As such, they could be satisfied by the rules, officials, and players of the National Football League, as well as many other rule administered social organizations. It will prove informative to intensify and study Sartorius s position to provide a firmer grasp of Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system and of the connection between this concept and Hart s concept of law. Sartorius contends that Hart surely is aware of the inadequacy of defining law and morals in formal terms. The two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system, Sartorius struggles, are relevant neither to Hart s concept of a legal system nor to his concept of law: If one is intending upon removing from Hart s analysis a definition of legal system , indeed, if one wants a complete picture of Hart s concept of law, one must put together: (1) what is said about the union of primary and secondary rules with (2) what Hart contends is the minimal content of Natural Law shared by both law and morals, and then combine ...
