On How My Travel Experiences Changed My Views of Life
I thought I would discuss my travel experiences and how it has changed my views of life. I have been
to the Caribbean many times, for example, Cuba, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, St. Maarten to
name a few. I have also backpacked through Thailand and would like to discuss what I have learned
from a few of these countries and how these experiences have affected my perspective.
Travelling to Cuba for the first time was amazing. Having only travelled to Mexico once before my
first trip to Cuba I noticed a contrast in cultures even though my assumption was they would be
similar because they are both Spanish speaking. My first trip to Varadero was over 12 years ago. I was
informed that the locals valued tips of crayons, toothbrushes, razors, and toiletries, but I was unsure
why. I later realized it was because of the embargos, they had no, or very limited access to, these items
and many more. I remember going into Havana and while taking in the breathtaking sights, being
followed by many locals who were rubbing their arms. I had no idea what was going on and was later
informed that they were asking for soap. SOAP! I thought to myself, not money or food, but soap?
Something I had taken for granted my whole life. In my many discussions with the locals I learned
they were very educated, most of whom were doctors and environmental or corporate lawyers.
Education is free in Cuba and homes are also provided for free, therefore, many Cubans go to
University for many

IV. Supplier Power
A producing industry requires raw materials labor, components, and other supplies. This requirement
leads to buyer supplier relationships between the industry and the firms that provide it the raw
materials used to create products. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an influence on the producing
industry, such as selling raw materials at a high price to capture some of the industry s profits. The
following tables outline some factors that determine supplier power.

From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive
advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources:
Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve
competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of
monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies
because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to
permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this
advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of
barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by
competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local
governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal
government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices.
The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the
banking industry. Until the 1970 s, the markets that banks could enter were limited by state
governments. As a result, most banks were local commercial and

Who Is The Most Forgiven Dimmesdale In The Scarlet Letter
When Pearl kisses Dimmesdale, it was as if he had forgiven himself. Later, it shows as if the people
had forgiven Dimmesdale for his actions, for they buried Hester next to him. Dimmesdale couldn t
forgive himself unless the cause of his guilt forgave him as well. For his guilt/conscience to forgive
him, he had to own up to his sin. I believe God has also forgiven Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale was
forgiven by the people because they did not appear to be angry when he confessed. While the people
were surprised, none of them looked at him angrily, but with pity. to the people, whose great heart was

Examples Of Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper
Female Oppression in The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s The Yellow Wallpaper
approaches some often overlooked topics in literature including how men and women interact
differently when it comes to serious situations such as how to help someone who is greatly suffering
from a mental affliction. The narrator of the text is Jane, and her husband John is incidentally making
her mental illness worse while he is in fact trying to help her get better. John is not a bad person. He
truly loves his wife and believes he is helping her. He is a doctor so it is understandable that he would
dismiss his wife s opinions and do what he assumes is best for her. John represents the unintentional
female oppression and male dominance and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jane looks at him and declares, I ve got out at last in spite of you and Jane! And I ve pulled off most of
the paper, so you can t put me back! (86). At this point John fainted and Jane had to creep over him
(86). John becomes exactly what he is trying to prevent his wife from coming. He viewed Jane s
femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did
not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a
predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. John ends up
representing his own hidden femininity when he faints. It is often considered the job of the man of the
family to be strong and to protect the weaker sex. John s fainting ends up proving that both men and
women can experience high levels of distress when something serious happens. John treats Jane like
she is fragile and breakable, but it seems like he is just as fragile and breakable, if not more so. Even
though John ignores Jane when she tells him what she thinks would be better for herself John is also
denying himself the ability to show compassion to his struggling wife. By treating his wife like she is
unable to acknowledge her own needs John becomes shocked when Jane descends into madness. If he

Financial Preparation for Retiring Educators in Davao City
Financial Priorities in Preparation for Retirement among Retiring Public School Teachers in Davao
City Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study In an uncertain economy today, fiscal planning has become progressively
significant. George H. Schofield, Ph.D (2013) said that it would take money to be able to afford a
comfortable, no work, more leisure time when retiring. Being financially prepared is one of the goals
of every worker to enjoy the so called golden years with ease and comfort.
According to Annual Retirement Confidence Survey (RCS), Americans trust in their power to afford a
comfortable retirement remains low despite of a brightening economy is because they alone work for

Financial Priorities in Preparation for Retirement.
The economic predicts in preceding years, many of the employees will go into retirement without a
sufficient resource. The newest investigation was to design to evaluate the different elements that will
bear on the individual s financial preparedness. Structural equation model techniques were employed
to judge the connection among individual s personality characteristic, their financial knowledge and
financial readiness. As an ordinary person, it is really important to us to preserve and invest for the
hereafter( Hershey et al 2010).
An economist has provided a number of different explanations for why an individual might fail to lay
aside for retirement: Some families may be short and fail to accumulate assets because they do not
know the value of bringing home the bacon for their future.
More or less may be unlucky and experience lower profits or higher expenses than they required
before reaching retirement Others may have high discount rates and hence prefer to take in a high

You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and
floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move, gradually, each

months and the average number of aligners worn is between 18 and 30, but this varies by case. Toward
the end of the treatment we will re evaluate the progress and take specialized steps, unique to our
expertise, to make sure we get superior results that require minimal use of retainers and still hold teeth

Strong National Museum Case Study
The Strong National Museum of Play was originally founded in 1968 as the Margret Woodbury Strong
Museum of Fascination. The museum was created due to the will of Margret Strong and the bulk of
the collection came from her estate. Toys and dolls made up the largest part of the collection although
it contained a range of objects from buttons to home furnishings. The majority of the collection was
also mass produced so initially the museum used them to examine ways in which industrialization
changed everyday life. ...this focus evolved into an examination of the consequences of progress, the
rise of the middle class, and expressions of identity. This was a complete departure from the
interpretative themes of children, play, imagination, and fun that the dolls and toys evoked. Over time
the Strong Museum began to increase family programming and install more interactive, child focused
exhibits. Eventually, this led to the institution s rebranding as the Strong National Museum of Play in
the late 2000 s as well as its creation of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding this dichotomy, my thesis questions will include: When is it appropriate for a museum to
change its mission? Does success in a museum s current field mean that a museum should not change
its mission? Should institutional history prevent a museum from major change? Does a museum have
an obligation to serve a wider community over a smaller interest group? How should new research and
changing cultural norms affect a museum and its mission? Due to the fact that the Strong Museum s
new mission is seen as a return to the original ideals of Margret Strong, my research paper will also
explore these questions: Should the interests of a museum s founder play a role in shaping its mission?
How, if at all, should donated collections guide the mission of an

The Importance Of Hate Crime
How does one determine the punishment that a person will receive for the crime they have
committed? Well, there is a system of law that can be looked too. Some crimes require mandatory
sentences while the punishment for others can be determined by a judge. Generally, people tend to
receive the sentence that is due to them because the law requires it. The question is though; what does
the law says about hate crime? Hate crime is in a category of its own, and this is due to its specific
nature. It is not just old run of the mill crime but a crime fueled by some type of prejudice. They are
intended to harm the victims and send a message of intimidation and fear and today, hate crime is seen
across the world, and in abundance. This leads to more and more people calling out for justice against
the perpetrators. So, should this type of crime be punished more severely than other crime? Does the
nature of the crime justify a harder sentence? The law says yes, but why?
It is possible to have an opinion on this matter and to advocate for that opinion, but were all people to
do this, no one would get anywhere. This is why it is important to have a constant that can be looked
to, and that constant is the law. Therefore, the question is; what does the law say about hate crime? It
says that it must be punished more severely and taken more seriously than other crime. The United
States is immensely protective of its democratic values and anytime an enemy of those values appears,

Lola Bara Analysis
Lola bara depicts the mercilessness of poverty and weakness. In any case, amidst its pity all, Lola
Rosa breaths dauntlessness. In her own history, Lola Rosa, survivor of Japanese war barbarity, drives

extraordinary woman, Julia. Rosa s mother, Julia, is the eldest of the children who began her working
life as Don Pepe Henson s housemaid, despite her protestations. The showing up generosity of the

Rosa was gotten and transformed into a comfort woman for nine frightening months.
In telling unpretentious components, Rosa delineates the extreme and harsh treatment of comfort

me. Conventional, some place in the scope of 12 to more than 20 troopers struck me. There were times
when there were upwards of 30; they went to the unit in truckloads. The mercilessness towards Rosa
and interchange young women was unending especially in times when the officers were not satisfied

that he released even before he had entered me. He was outstandingly angry and he grabbed my hand
and obliged me to pet his genitals. Another trooper was sitting tight for his turn outside the room and
started striking against the divider. The man had no genuine alternative but to leave, yet before going
out, he hit my chest and pulled my hair.
Regardless, severity and shame were standard occasions in the regiment for comfort women. Not even
detainment nor scenes of wilderness fever hosed the spirit of Rosa to survive, more so to help the

Symbolism In The Necklace
The Necklace was a short story written by French writer Guy de Maupassant in the late nineteenth
century, which was a period of time where the literary movements naturalism and realism were
frequently used in French literature. The short story shows how greed and wealth can change a
personality and affect their lifestyles. Throughout The Necklace , Maupassant aims to show the
conflicts between the lower and upper classes, and how their desires may vary. This essay will discuss
how Maupassant uses social context, symbolism, literary devices and his characters demonstrate his
misogynistic viewpoints.

Mathilde s looks. Mathilde runs into Madame Forestier, to whom she confesses the whole story.
Madame Forestier tells her that the necklace was a fake.
Maupassant s misogynistic portrayal of women is evident through Madame Loisel s superficial and
materialistic nature. This is demonstrated when Monsieur Loisel tries to convince his wife to go to the

The main problem in my case is a budget threat relating to a food safety program in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. In order to fight the budget crisis, the state health commissioner ordered that they must
prove to the state legislature that food safety programs are important in maintaining the lives of
Louisiana citizens. In doing so, John Smith started with background on food safety: there are about 48
million food borne illnesses every year. Within those numbers, 128,000 people become hospitalized
and 3,000 occur in death due to these illnesses (CDC Estimates of Foodborne Illness in the United

Liberal Arts Education Vs Liberal Education
Liberal education consists in reading and analyzing complex intellectual material every day, this kind
of education is intellectually too demanding for most young people and only a few percentiles are
indeed good at it, however, a large proportion of people who are able to assimilate a liberal education
have no interest in doing so. Liberal arts education has been criticized due to misperceptions by
students, society, and media. Ungar points out seven misperceptions about Liberal arts education and
also provides a response for each one of them. Students can make a living with a liberal arts college
degree by finding a job easily in the future, the field of study in liberal arts education is broader, and it
is more affordable.
After students graduate from a liberal arts college, they usually obtain a job within a short period of
time. Although a misconception claims that College graduates are finding it harder to get good jobs

The Shape Memory Effect And Super Elasticity
INTRODUCTION
The Shape Memory Alloys are quite fascinating materials characterised by a Shape Memory effect and
Super elasticity, which ordinary metals and alloys do not have. This unique behaviour was first found
in Au 47.5%Cd alloy in 1951, and was publicised by its discovery in a Ti Ni alloy in 1963. After much
research and development thereafter, shape memory alloys are now being practically used as new
functional alloys for pipe couplings, antennae for cellular phones and various actuators in electrical
appliances, etc. Furthermore, they have attracted keen attention as promising candidate for smart
materials since they function as sensors as well as actuators.
The shape memory effect and super elasticity are based on the diffusion less transformation called
martensitic transformation. The Shape memory effect is a unique property of certain alloys exhibiting
martensitic transformations. Even though the alloy is deformed in low temperature phase, it recovers
its original shape by reverse transformation upon heating to a critical temperature called reverse
transformation temperature. Many other alloys such as In T1, 3, 4 Cu Zn and Cu Al Ni were also
found. The same alloys have another unique property called Super elasticity at a higher temperature,
which is associated with a large (18%) nonlinear recoverable strain upon loading and unloading. Since
these alloys have a unique property in remembering the original shape, having an actuator function
and having

Analysis Of Prometheus And The First People By Olivia E....
Prometheus And The First People is a historical work of art written by Olivia E. Coolidge. What the
Greeks believe at the time man was created there was no sorrow or wicked ways, a war was unknown
to man. Zeus entrusted their creation to two brothers, Prometheus and Epimetheus. Epimetheus took
over all things but got forced to appeal to Prometheus for help. Prometheus later was tortured by Zeus
for making humankind like the gods. After centuries Prometheus was released and him, along with the
other gods created woman. Then flooded the earth to kill all evil. This essay will examine, Prometheus

One day her curious mind got the best of her. She opened the box, and all the dark shadows of hunger,
disease, war, greed, anger, jealousy, toil, and all the other hardships man would now have to face
flooded out into the world. Oliva E. Coolidge wrote Prometheus and the First People for a particular
purpose. Oliva wanted people to understand the importance of making a decision. Each choice you
make may not only affect you, but it may affect others. Prometheus decision caused him to be tortured
by Zeus for hundreds of years. Afterwards, it caused the gods to create a woman for man. Each god
gave the woman a special gift. They gave her things like beauty and curiosity, and her curiosity is
what got the best of her. She opened the box the gods told her never to open and flooded out evil into
the world. She caused everyone to experience severe and live it that kind of world. The world filled
with so much evil, murders, robberies, and treachery the gods choose to destroy it. The gods flooded
the Earth sparing only two people, an elderly couple. The old couple was named Deucalion and
Pyrrha, and they were chosen to live because they lived their lives in truth and justice. The two were
too old to recreate more humans, so they prayed to the gods. They ended up gathering stones and
throwing them behind. Each stone Deucalion threw turned into a man and each stone Pyrrha threw a

Inheritance Of Traits Of Fruit Flies
Inheritance of Traits in Fruit Flies
Genetics shows us that we inherit traits in many different ways. A perfect example to show us the
different ways we inherit traits is fruit flies. Fruit flies are commonly used by scientists to conduct
genetic experiments due to their reaction to the experiment being very quick. Scientists mainly look at
how the flies inherit basic traits such as brown body color, or red eyes(basic trait flies are known as
wild type flies) from their parents, but sometimes they can come across some abnormal traits. Some of
these abnormal traits include having a yellow body color or having curly shaped wings and have made
scientists wonder how the flies have inherited these specific traits. So how do the flies inherit ... Show

This next table follows a similar skeleton as the one before. The table gives us an outcome for when
we cross the two parents with each other, and then gives us another outcome by crossing another male
and female from the F1 generation(the first offspring) which creates the F2 generation. So if we look
at the numbers for the F1 generation, we can get about a 2:2 ratio of 2 wild males to 2 wild females.
Then, if we look at the F2 generation we get around a 1:1:2 ratio of 1 wild male to 1 yellow male to 2

the people should be ruled by a group of people rather than one ruler. These opinions and different

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Recycled Aggregates
The recycled aggregates can undergo some processing procedures and adaptation to the desired
characteristics. Some of these processes are: homogenisation, crushing and screening and autogenous
cleaning. The homogenisation process Material aims to standardise and remove waste materials such
as wood, steel, plastics, among others. Initially, construction waste and demolition are separated by the
predominant color: gray or red. It is then performed quartering, where the material is distributed in
different layers along a plastic and from the middle section, they are divided into several sections
entitled cells. The material is then sent to a crusher where grinding occurs (Kwan, Ramli, Kam and

In general, the durability of concrete covers directly on the ease or difficulty of fluid transport within
the concrete, and classified as a concrete or too little permeable. The main transport agent fluid is
water in the concrete, which may be pure or contain aggressive agents, such as dioxide carbon and

Professionalism Is The Definite Aspect Of All Professions...
Introduction
Professionalism is the definite aspect of all professions because it connects with typical conducts,
aims, or qualities that stand in lieu to any profession. As we have discussed in class and as it has been
written in the class manual, the ability for a worker to groom his or her personality in line with the
temerity to exhibit a courteous, conscientious and generally businesslike manner in the workplace is
the attributes labeled as a professional. In retrospect, we have set a standard in the course of learning

kneeling into golden soil with bare toes digged into sandy soil. She was the only beauty he have ever

Stress Of Stress In Nursing
With the high demand of medical professionals and increasing numbers of people with chronic
diseased, there might be a time where one nurse have to over see more patients than normal. Taking
care of extra patients than normal might bring some work burnout and prevent nursing professionals
from performing their job effectively. A study was done to measure the stress level of nurses working
on the oncology department and the effect of stress leading the nurses to consider looking for job in
other departments. It was found that 35% of the nurses were experiencing emotional stress and 17 %
were depersonalized which then resulted in considering for other opportunities in less stressful
departments (Davis S, Lind BK, Sorensen C, 2013). Stress can be experience from many factors such
as death of a patient, patient s family history, severity of patient s health condition, and emotional
attachment with patients. As a nursing professional, one have to witness devastating situations such as
death of loved ones. It has been found that death and close relationship with patients and working
environment are the main factors causing stress among nurses (Pavlos S et. al, 2016). Despite the fact
that nursing professionals have to go through many stressful situations at work and may be in their
personal life, how much attentive can they be while performing their nursing duties?
It requires a lot of positive attitude and strong personality to be able to perform nursing duties properly

Euthyphro Dilemma Analysis
The Euthyphro Dilemma is a very interesting dilemma, the basis of it is that it deals with the concept

Graduate Descriptor: 5.1.1 Demonstrate understanding of assessment strategies, including informal
and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative approaches to assess student learning.
On my Google site, I have provided a summative Year 8 Examination for the topic Views and
Perspectives. This examination demonstrates my understanding of the Graduate Descriptor 5.1.1. The
task for EDFD307: Educational Assessment was to design an end of topic or mid year examination to
assess my students achievement of the syllabus outcomes in the unit of work, which was (Stage 4,
Year 8) View and Perspectives. The examination needed to draw upon students work and experience
during the unit. It needed to be based on an assessment plan (a table of specifications) that clearly
demonstrated how the questions, syllabus outcomes and the major components of the unit were
integrated.
The examination was a 60 minutes test with 10 minutes reading time. The first section of the
examination was a creative writing essay and 40 minutes was allocated to complete it. The second
section, which consisted of 11 multiples choice questions, was allocated 20 minutes for completion.
See the snap shots below.
The multiple choice questions were questions at Bloom s level of understand (Woolfolk and Magetts,

Summary Of An Act Of Vengeance
Isabels short story, An Act of Vengeance is an example of the power she depicts towards women along
with her foundation, The Isabel Allende Foundation which she states, Empowers women and girls
worldwide . In her text, in which a young teen s father is killed by the same man who raped her and
took away dignity and reason for living building up hate towards him. The irony is as Allende states,
She searched her heart for the hatred she had cultivated throughout those thirty years, but she was
incapable of finding...Then she understood with horror that by thinking about him every moment, and
savoring his punishment in advance, her feelings had become reversed and she had fallen in love with
him (Allende#1). The hatred and punishment she wanted to give him for what he did turned into an
unstoppable love. Isabel Allende is a strong feminist and it can be seen throughout her writing, reason
for this is her personal experiences, causing it to change the way she refers when writing about the
opposite sex.
Our last author would be Charlotte Perkins Gilman, author of The Yellow Wallpaper showing how
personal experiences can be a great influence when it comes to writing down their feelings in a piece
of paper. Stating the difficulty she had for various years: For many years I suffered from a severe and
continuous nervous breakdown tending... I went, in devout faith and some faint stir of hope, to a noted

Statements For Frankenstein
Every day in English I we are required to write I Can Statements. I Can Statements are basically
statements that we write that tell us what we learned that we can do that day. My I Can Statements this
week were that I can effectively analyze the text to understand and build my vocabulary (April 11,

The Importance Of School Uniforms
A student gets pushed into a locker, the instigator takes the child s shirt and pulls it. Where did you get
this shirt from, five below? The other people surrounding the child laugh. Now that same child runs
home to his mother crying in tears. The child proceeds to tell him about his day whimpering word
after word. A mother struggling to pay for the house now feels obligated to buy her child more
expensive clothes just because they were picked on. Well if students had a uniform the instigator
would not be able to pick on anything because they are wearing the same clothes. Roughly twenty
nine percent of the United States population are lower class according to the graph in Marilyn Geewax

the privilege to wear what they want to school, although is this a bad idea? Children are picked on for

schools enforce a rule about uniforms. One may argue that with a uniform does not give the student

Pathos Bananas
Today, I want to talk about bananas. This familiar yellow fruits is nutritious, delicious, and good for

Americans eat an average of 27 pounds of bananas per person every year, making them the most
popular fruit in the U.S. Banana fact: Research shows that eating bananas may lower the risk of heart
attacks and strokes, as well as decrease the risk of getting some cancers. Banana fact: Banana farms

the coast of Costa Rica are facing extinction partly due to the fact that pesticide runoff from banana
plantations kills the algae on which they feed. Now you might be thinking, those things aren t really
my problem, I ve never gotten sick from a banana and tortoises aren t doing bad, I saw one at the zoo

Supporting Ethical Behavior In The Workplace
Ethical behavior in the workplace is paramount to a successful organization. Commitment to
supporting ethical behavior in the workforce must be a top priority for all public service employees.
The ethical culture of the organization starts at the very top of the organization. The standards of the
agency are adhered to across the entire structure through fair and consistent ethical conduct as defined
by leadership. Effective leaders must demonstrate through their behavior that they believe what they
say. Those who pronounce that their supervisors and street level workers must adhere to the highest
ethical standards must themselves adhere to those same standards (Menzel, p. 70, 2016). Actions may

Retaliatory termination refers to firing an employee as revenge for an employee s protected activity.
Protected activities include such acts as refusing to participate in something illegal, reporting sexual
harassment or other illegal act, or seeking to join or form a labor union. If an employer fires an
employee for taking part in any of these activities, it is considered retaliatory termination, which is a
form of wrongful termination (Legal Dictionary, 2016). If Rob does fire Carolyn after the ruling is
decided in his favor, she should bring a lawsuit for wrongful termination. Wrongful termination, also
referred to as wrongful dismissal, or wrongful discharge, involves the termination of an employee

Analysis Of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
1. The Man who shot liberty valance Tom Doniphon, the outlaw hero, shot Liberty Valance To protect
Hallie and Ransom Stoddard because he knew that Ransom is the right future for his town and Hallie,
even though Ransom views contradict with Toms views and wishes. Throughout the movie there is a
clear message; wilderness V. civilization. Shine bow, Tom, Liberty, etc., portraying the wilderness and
Tom Donovan and The East portraying the civilization. Tom believed in the lawless frontier and is
even Compared to Liberty by Ransom saying, you are as bad as he is (liberty). Throughout the film,
Tom realizes that Ransom is a great asset to his Town and a wonderful man to Hallie who teaches the
whole town how to live a safer, happier and more civilized life. Tom does not believe in this way of
life and prefers the wilderness, but he thinks about his town and what is the best for them in the long
run, showing that Tom deep down strongly supports personal Integrity. Tom lets the town believe that
Ransom was the one who shot liberty because Tom wanted the town to support Ransom even more.
He knew after saving Ransoms live and shooting Liberty; he had lost his lawless freedom (liberty) and
the women he loved. When he told Ransom that he was the one who killed Liberty Valance, he said:
Cold blooded murder, but I can live with it. Hallie s happy. She wanted you alive. ... Hallie s your girl
now. Go back in there and take that nomination. You taught her how to read and write; now give her
something to read and write about! he called his shooting of Valance cold blooded murder even
though it was justifiable homicide to prevent the killing of Ransom, who he knew didn t have a chance
in a gunfight. I think Tom called it murder not from a legal standpoint but from his perspective as a
gunfighter since he cowardly killed Liberty from a corner instead of facing him in a gunfight.
However, he realized that this was necessary to boost Ransoms position among the townspeople
because Tom saw him as the best hope for the future of Shine Bow and Hallie. That s why he said, I
can live with that. He told Ransom the truth because he wanted him not to feel guilty about killing
someone and that at least one person would

Persuasive Essay On Public Wifi
These days many people carry around devices or own devices that can access the internet at any time.
Between smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops this can be establish. People tend to develop a
sense of security thinking there is no harm on the internet. This leads to many people using a computer
that s not theirs whether it s a friend s device, using public resources at the library, or your work
requiring you to log into different systems all day. Public WiFi is dangerous either way it is accessed
and does not matter what computer you re on, but foreign machines require an even greater caution
(Sanchez 2017). Whenever you have to use a computer that s open to the public one should be
cautious and be ready to employ some security measures. For most people, the most important part of
security is making our personal data safe. The best security is supposed to withstand any abuse. But
anyone that has dealt with computers know that in the real world, one can t cover all possible
situations of internet abuse. One of the most strategic ways to lessen the attack is to use multiple
techniques for increasing security. Most normal people don t need complicated schemes to be safe.
But it s always good to make it hard for intruders to get access to your data. Normally computer
security depends on protecting the system from an attack but people do not pay attention to how to
handle an attack once it happens. If one were to pay attention to the news you would notice that cyber

Neuroscience Background
Lifelong bilingualism has been associated with enhanced cognition. Scientists suggest that the
bilingual experience is closely related to neurological variations observed in brain anatomy and
function of bilinguals versus monolinguals. For instance, research conducted by Olsen et al. (2015)
investigated the structural brain differences of lifelong bilingualism. Given the importance of the
frontal and temporal lobes in executive and language functions, they hypothesized that bilinguals
would exhibit greater volume of these cortical areas. The researchers discovered that bilinguals had
more white matter in frontal lobe regions, which emphasizes the importance of preserved white matter
in executive function. Following immersion in a second language, young adults also demonstrated
increases in grey matter in the inferior frontal gyrus and anterior temporal lobe (Stein et al., 2012).

This means a significant part of the curriculum is out of reach for many of these immigrants. Classical
literature such as Shakespeare, Homer, and Faulkner, to name a few, have become the customary
literature books used in schools. American education, in many cases, has denied our diverse
population the use of these great books. Many students struggle with classical literature because it is
irrelevant in their lives. Classical literature must be taught with student s diversity in mind. If a person
is not from the Dominant Culture, he or she will have little or no interest in the great books described
above since these books were written for and by this culture.
Motivating the diverse culture of students in today s schools requires sparking their interest. Social

backgrounds within their classrooms.

Characteristics Of Culturally Relevant Teaching By...
Teachers must be aware and can identify the different levels of knowledge which goes hand to hand
with Bloom s taxonomy. According, to Center for Teaching this concept includes a maximum of six
different levels such as understanding, remember, or evaluate. However, knowledge is the basis of
these six cognitive processes allowing a teacher to categorize where the student exist and what it takes
to improve their knowledge. In chapter 3 5 the author relates to the knowledge of the teacher by
outlining the characteristics of culturally relevant teaching by providing classroom demonstrations and
teacher observations. Cultural relevant is responsive teaching is a pedagogy grounded in teachers
displaying cultural competence (Jabbar, Abdul 2013). This allows students to connect their prior
knowledge to what is presented in the classroom. In relations to the teacher it serves as a guide to help
teachers connect with their students by knowing and incorporating the student s culture into
instructional activities. This type of teacher views knowledge as something that is continuously re
created, recycles and shared. Various teachers were interviewed on how knowledge is valued in the
classroom. They viewed education and knowledge as vehicles for emancipation. These teachers
consistently found ways to bring African American customs and other viewpoints into class
discussions. The first scenario speaks on a teacher named Ms. Hilliard used learning tools that

Education And Economic Inequality
In the United States, people like to believe everyone has an equal chance at success. This emphasis on
self effort perpetuates the belief that people control their own social standing. However, sociologists
recognize that social stratification is a society wide system that makes inequalities apparent (Griffiths
et al., 2016, p.188). There are many factors that drive social inequality; globalization and immigration,
technology advances, the family you were born into, and even the education you received in pre
school. I feel the most important contributing factor is economic inequality. I consider this to be true
not only for the United States, but globally as well.
Both wealthy and poor classes, and all those in between would benefit from living in a more
economically equitable society. Statistics show correlation of an increase in overall physical health
and longevity, a decrease in infant mortality rates, and an increase in mental health in individuals
living in societies with higher economic equality. There is also substantial evidence linking greater
equality to better social relationships within societies there is less violence, and a greater sense of
overall trust.
I believe addressing education, implementing new tax policies, and making fundamental changes to
the way Americans think about success will help reduce economic inequalities. If we can achieve this
in our country, economic societies around the globe will all benefit.
It is widely agreed that

In recent years, the applications about multimedia have been developed rapidly. Digital media brings
about conveniences to the people, because it is easy to be processed. At the same time, it enables the
illegal attackers to attack the works. For the protection of data there has been growing interest in
developing effective techniques to discourage the unauthorized duplication of digital data. Digital
watermarking is the process of embedding information into a digital signal in a way that is difficult to
remove. Protection of digital multimedia content has become an increasingly important issue for
content owner and service providers. Watermarking is identified as a major means to achieve
copyright protection.
Due to the rapid and extensive growth of electronic publishing industry, data can now be distributed
much faster and easier. Unfortunately, engineers still see technical challenges in discouraging
unauthorized copying and distributing of electronic documents. Digital Watermarking represents an

Sophisticated watermark embedding is a potential method to discourage unauthorized copying or
attest the origin of the images. One approach used to address this problem is to add a visible or
invisible structure to an image that can be used to seal or mark it. These structures are known as digital
watermarks. Digital watermark is a kind of technology that embeds copyright information into
multimedia data. Each watermark method consists of an embedding algorithm and an extracting
algorithm. The embedding algorithm inserts the watermark information in the data and the extracting
algorithm decodes the watermark information. Some methods extract the whole watermark
information(decoder) and others determine only its existence(detector), the detection process decides
(yes) if the watermark is found and decides(no) if the watermark is

Life Insurance Vs. Medical Power Of Attorney
1) Have a life insurance policy that is not a condition of your employment. Purchase a life insurance
plan from an outside financial services firm. This allows you to have a security blanket in case for
some reason your employers life insurance believes you are uninsurable. Having a separate life
insurance policy outside of the one provided by your insurer allows you to structure it in a way that it
will escape your gross estate. Married couples can give an unlimited amount to each other with no
wealth transfer tax punishments.
Life insurance policies are typically taxed as part of your own estate if you own the policy when you
die. In contrast, if you are not the policy owner, the proceeds are not considered part of your estate

A power of attorney can be general, granting broad authority over all of your medical and financial
affairs, or it may be limited, giving your designee a defined set of responsibilities only in certain
situations. A general power of attorney may be written to last for a period of time or indefinitely. The
power of attorney ends when you die and is not a substitute for a will. You can authorize your power
of attorney to such things as sign checks and tax returns, enter into contracts, buy or sell real estate,
deposit or withdraw funds, run a business, or anything else you do for yourself. A power of attorney
can be broad or limited.
A physician s directive or living will is a form designed to help you communicate your wishes on
medical treatment in the future if at some point you are unable to make your wishes known due to
illness or injury. A Directive to Physicians goes into effect only when your physician has determined
that you have a terminal or irreversible condition and are unable to make your own health care
decisions. You can also change or cancel your Directive to Physician at any time for any reason
The biggest difference between a physician s directive and a medical power of attorney is that a
physician s directive tells doctors whether to make life saving treatment if your condition is life
threatening or terminal. A medical

Government Power Contradicts In Today s Society
Governmental power contradicts with how our society functions as a whole. In today s society the
government influences the lives of many with how we need to treat others. For example, in 2016 after
the presidential elections, a young African American girl by the name of Nida was bullied and
terrorized for the color of her skin. A young boy had told her that her family was going to get kicked
back to their country now with a new president sending illegal immigrants back to their home country
(Kowalski). In the same sense, the recent tragedy that has hit our nation today is the Marjory
Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. 19 year old Nikolas Cruz, a former
student, opened fire on the high school with an AR 15 semi automatic

Tituba s Guilt In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Tituba was a very repressed woman. Due to this repression, when
Tituba had the chance to air out her grievances, she did. She was like a dog let of her leash. However,
her confession started an avalanche of false, mean spirited accusations from the other girls present.
Though Tituba was pushed to confess, the onset of the Salem Witch Trials was completely her fault.
When it came to voodoo, Tituba was like the mother duck. Abigail and the others all toddled after her
like ducklings, asking her to conjure and work her voodoo magic. Due to this, Tituba had planted the
seed that would blossom into the Salem Witch Trials. Arthur Miller wrote, You beg me to conjure
Abby! She beg me make charm (Miller). If she hadn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like a dog eager to please her master, she eventually broke under the beatings, confessing to a crime
she didn t commit. Even though some might say she wasn t completely at fault since she would ve
been hanged for not confessing, her false confession was the straw that broke the camel s back. Tituba
had sobbed out, Oh, how many times he bid me kill you, mister Parris (Miller)! Her own repressed
bitterness and hatred for Parris clearly beat out her desire to maintain her innocence. Her own selfish
reasons for confessing made her responsible for what happened afterward. It was also these bitter
feelings that probably bolstered the girls into making their own accusations. There were many people
accused. Most, if not all, were accused out of spite. In the article, it states, The trials resulted in the
executions of twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by hanging
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem_witch_trials). The girls probably wouldn t have had the
confidence to make accusations, but after hearing Tituba s emotional confession, they jumped on it
like rabid animals. Tituba s confession the pebble that started the avalanche of wild accusations.
Tituba was completely responsible for the onset of the Salem Witch

Chinese Influence On Vietnamese Culture, Language And...
History
Vietnam is one of the countries in Southeast Asia with a population of over 95 million people. It has a
long history of being ruled by China for over a thousand years, resulting in a strong Chinese influence
on Vietnamese culture, language and writing system. Even after Vietnam has gained their
independence in the tenth century, Chinese was still the language was being spoken and used in many
written documents. However during the 16th and 17th centuries when Catholic missionaries arrived in
Vietnam, they wanted to establish a writing system that could be easily taught to people in order to
maintain their Catholic influence after they left. In 1651, a writing system based on the roman
alphabet called Quốc ngữ was created gaining popularity amongst missionaries and followers. It took
several years for the language to become more prominent in Vietnam eventually being deemed the
official language used for public documents in 1910. Though the transition from Chinese to Quốc ngữ
was very slow and difficult, eventually it became the writing system that everyone used over time.
Introduction Vietnamese falls under the Mon Khmer group of the Austro Asiatic family of languages,
which mean that most of the vocabulary within the language contain different buildups of lower
intonations leading to a strong stressed syllable. There are three major dialects of Vietnamese: Hanoi
primarily spoken in Northern Vietnam, Hue used mostly in Central Vietnam and Saigon which

A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Conner Essay
Flannery O Conner grew up in the backwoods of Georgia, where she found her inspiration for her
writing. Her Southern heritage was not the only thing that influenced her though; often her Roman
Catholic faith would impact her stories as well (Ellis 35 36). She described herself as a Catholic
peculiarly possessed of the modern consciousness (qtd. in Hubbard 38) and stated that the best of [her]
work sounded like the old testament would sound if it were being written today (qtd. in Kreyling 85).
As such, O Conner is known for her portrayal of religious themes throughout her writings. In A Good
Man is Hard to Find, Flannery O Conner utilizes violence in order to develop the grandmother s
character within the story, and by doing so, she is able to demonstrate the difference between having a
moral code and being virtuous.
For clarity, a person with a moral code by no means has to be virtuous, for a moral code is simply a set
of rules or a code of conduct which governs how an individual should act within a community (Pam).
By following a moral code, a character is not necessarily morally good. We see this clearly in the
grandmother. From the very beginning, it is made clear that the grandmother s perception of right and
wrong is rather superficial; that is to say, she bases both her code of conduct and her perception of
being good off of the opinions of others. Making this abundantly clear in the very beginning of the
story, O Conner writes a full paragraph to overly

Roman Catholic Church s Teachings on Abortion and Euthanasia The Roman Catholic Church teaches
that Human life is sacred. Explain how this teaching influences its attitude to abortion and euthanasia,
showing that you understand other points of view. (You should refer to the Bible, to the
thinking/writing of Christians and Roman Catholic tradition to illustrate and support what you say).
The greatest gift of God, I would think is the gift of life. The greatest sin of man, it would seem would
be to return that gift, ungratefully and unopened John Powell in the Silent Holocaust

Yet not one sparrow is forgotten by God. Euthanasia is the intentional ending of a life with the purpose
of relieving suffering. Euthanasia can be voluntary (at the request of the individual) or involuntary,
(without the consent of the individual). To Christians all life is sacred and a gift from God (genesis
1:27). Also they believe that God alone has the right to take life: I was born with nothing and I will die
with nothing. The Lord gave and now he has taken away Job 1:21. In the New Testament the writers
encourage the Christians to look at suffering in a positive way, Trouble produces endurance,
endurance brings God s approval, and his approval creates hope. Romans 5:3 4 The Presbyterian
Church chooses to emphasis care for the dying as opposed to practising euthanasia. The church of
Ireland believes that no one has the right to take away the right to life, but they also point out that if to
continue the treatment of a patient is futile or hopeless, then it s not considered wrong to withhold that
treatment. The Catholic Church condemns euthanasia morally unacceptable . In Holland euthanasia
isn t illegal, but is only acceptable under certain guidelines; the request may come only from the
patient and must be entirely free and voluntary. The patient s request must

  • 2. On How My Travel Experiences Changed My Views of Life I thought I would discuss my travel experiences and how it has changed my views of life. I have been to the Caribbean many times, for example, Cuba, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, St. Maarten to name a few. I have also backpacked through Thailand and would like to discuss what I have learned from a few of these countries and how these experiences have affected my perspective. Travelling to Cuba for the first time was amazing. Having only travelled to Mexico once before my first trip to Cuba I noticed a contrast in cultures even though my assumption was they would be similar because they are both Spanish speaking. My first trip to Varadero was over 12 years ago. I was informed that the locals valued tips of crayons, toothbrushes, razors, and toiletries, but I was unsure why. I later realized it was because of the embargos, they had no, or very limited access to, these items and many more. I remember going into Havana and while taking in the breathtaking sights, being followed by many locals who were rubbing their arms. I had no idea what was going on and was later informed that they were asking for soap. SOAP! I thought to myself, not money or food, but soap? Something I had taken for granted my whole life. In my many discussions with the locals I learned they were very educated, most of whom were doctors and environmental or corporate lawyers. Education is free in Cuba and homes are also provided for free, therefore, many Cubans go to University for many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Supplier Power A producing industry requires raw materials labor, components, and other supplies. This requirement leads to buyer supplier relationships between the industry and the firms that provide it the raw materials used to create products. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an influence on the producing industry, such as selling raw materials at a high price to capture some of the industry s profits. The following tables outline some factors that determine supplier power. |Suppliers are Powerful if: |Example | |Credible forward integration threat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources: Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices. The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the banking industry. Until the 1970 s, the markets that banks could enter were limited by state governments. As a result, most banks were local commercial and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Later, it shows as if the people had forgiven Dimmesdale for his actions, for they buried Hester next to him. Dimmesdale couldn t forgive himself unless the cause of his guilt forgave him as well. For his guilt/conscience to forgive him, he had to own up to his sin. I believe God has also forgiven Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale was forgiven by the people because they did not appear to be angry when he confessed. While the people were surprised, none of them looked at him angrily, but with pity. to the people, whose great heart was thoroughly appalled yet overflowing with tearful sympathy, as knowing that some deep life matter which, if full of sin, was full of anguish ... Examples Of Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper Female Oppression in The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s The Yellow Wallpaper approaches some often overlooked topics in literature including how men and women interact differently when it comes to serious situations such as how to help someone who is greatly suffering from a mental affliction. The narrator of the text is Jane, and her husband John is incidentally making her mental illness worse while he is in fact trying to help her get better. John is not a bad person. He truly loves his wife and believes he is helping her. He is a doctor so it is understandable that he would dismiss his wife s opinions and do what he assumes is best for her. And I ve pulled off most of the paper, so you can t put me back! (86). At this point John fainted and Jane had to creep over him (86). John becomes exactly what he is trying to prevent his wife from coming. He viewed Jane s femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. John ends up representing his own hidden femininity when he faints. It is often considered the job of the man of the family to be strong and to protect the weaker sex. John s fainting ends up proving that both men and women can experience high levels of distress when something serious happens. John treats Jane like she is fragile and breakable, but it seems like he is just as fragile and breakable, if not more so. Even though John ignores Jane when she tells him what she thinks would be better for herself John is also denying himself the ability to show compassion to his struggling wife. By treating his wife like she is unable to acknowledge her own needs John becomes shocked when Jane descends into madness. If he had only listened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Financial Preparation for Retiring Educators in Davao City Financial Priorities in Preparation for Retirement among Retiring Public School Teachers in Davao City Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Background of the Study In an uncertain economy today, fiscal planning has become progressively significant. George H. Schofield, Ph.D (2013) said that it would take money to be able to afford a comfortable, no work, more leisure time when retiring. Being financially prepared is one of the goals of every worker to enjoy the so called golden years with ease and comfort. Structural equation model techniques were employed to judge the connection among individual s personality characteristic, their financial knowledge and financial readiness. As an ordinary person, it is really important to us to preserve and invest for the hereafter( Hershey et al 2010). An economist has provided a number of different explanations for why an individual might fail to lay aside for retirement: Some families may be short and fail to accumulate assets because they do not know the value of bringing home the bacon for their future. More or less may be unlucky and experience lower profits or higher expenses than they required before reaching retirement Others may have high discount rates and hence prefer to take in a high fraction of income while playing at the expense of lower ... The museum was created due to the will of Margret Strong and the bulk of the collection came from her estate. • 9. The Importance Of Hate Crime How does one determine the punishment that a person will receive for the crime they have committed? Well, there is a system of law that can be looked too. Some crimes require mandatory sentences while the punishment for others can be determined by a judge. Generally, people tend to receive the sentence that is due to them because the law requires it. The question is though; what does the law says about hate crime? Hate crime is in a category of its own, and this is due to its specific nature. It is not just old run of the mill crime but a crime fueled by some type of prejudice. They are intended to harm the victims and send a message of intimidation and fear and today, hate crime is seen across the world, and in abundance. This leads to more and more people calling out for justice against the perpetrators. So, should this type of crime be punished more severely than other crime? Does the nature of the crime justify a harder sentence? The law says yes, but why? It is possible to have an opinion on this matter and to advocate for that opinion, but were all people to do this, no one would get anywhere. This is why it is important to have a constant that can be looked to, and that constant is the law. Therefore, the question is; what does the law say about hate crime? It says that it must be punished more severely and taken more seriously than other crime. • 14. The Shape Memory Effect And Super Elasticity INTRODUCTION The Shape Memory Alloys are quite fascinating materials characterised by a Shape Memory effect and Super elasticity, which ordinary metals and alloys do not have. This unique behaviour was first found in Au 47.5%Cd alloy in 1951, and was publicised by its discovery in a Ti Ni alloy in 1963. After much research and development thereafter, shape memory alloys are now being practically used as new functional alloys for pipe couplings, antennae for cellular phones and various actuators in electrical appliances, etc. Furthermore, they have attracted keen attention as promising candidate for smart materials since they function as sensors as well as actuators. The shape memory effect and super elasticity are based on the diffusion less transformation called martensitic transformation. The Shape memory effect is a unique property of certain alloys exhibiting martensitic transformations. Even though the alloy is deformed in low temperature phase, it recovers its original shape by reverse transformation upon heating to a critical temperature called reverse transformation temperature. Many other alloys such as In T1, 3, 4 Cu Zn and Cu Al Ni were also found. The same alloys have another unique property called Super elasticity at a higher temperature, which is associated with a large (18%) nonlinear recoverable strain upon loading and unloading. Since these alloys have a unique property in remembering the original shape, having an actuator function and having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scientists mainly look at how the flies inherit basic traits such as brown body color, or red eyes(basic trait flies are known as wild type flies) from their parents, but sometimes they can come across some abnormal traits. Also, that in making these small, uncontrollable portions, the ruler is begging for a collapse since the tax collectors of these portions are making it impossible for the peasants to live there. • 40. Characteristics Of Culturally Relevant Teaching By... Teachers must be aware and can identify the different levels of knowledge which goes hand to hand with Bloom s taxonomy. According, to Center for Teaching this concept includes a maximum of six different levels such as understanding, remember, or evaluate. However, knowledge is the basis of these six cognitive processes allowing a teacher to categorize where the student exist and what it takes to improve their knowledge. In chapter 3 5 the author relates to the knowledge of the teacher by outlining the characteristics of culturally relevant teaching by providing classroom demonstrations and teacher observations. Cultural relevant is responsive teaching is a pedagogy grounded in teachers displaying cultural competence (Jabbar, Abdul 2013). This allows students to connect their prior knowledge to what is presented in the classroom. In relations to the teacher it serves as a guide to help teachers connect with their students by knowing and incorporating the student s culture into instructional activities. This type of teacher views knowledge as something that is continuously re created, recycles and shared. Various teachers were interviewed on how knowledge is valued in the classroom. They viewed education and knowledge as vehicles for emancipation. These teachers consistently found ways to bring African American customs and other viewpoints into class discussions. • 41. Education And Economic Inequality In the United States, people like to believe everyone has an equal chance at success. This emphasis on self effort perpetuates the belief that people control their own social standing. However, sociologists recognize that social stratification is a society wide system that makes inequalities apparent (Griffiths et al., 2016, p.188). There are many factors that drive social inequality; globalization and immigration, technology advances, the family you were born into, and even the education you received in pre school. I feel the most important contributing factor is economic inequality. I consider this to be true not only for the United States, but globally as well. Both wealthy and poor classes, and all those in between would benefit from living in a more economically equitable society. Statistics show correlation of an increase in overall physical health and longevity, a decrease in infant mortality rates, and an increase in mental health in individuals living in societies with higher economic equality. There is also substantial evidence linking greater equality to better social relationships within societies there is less violence, and a greater sense of overall trust. I believe addressing education, implementing new tax policies, and making fundamental changes to the way Americans think about success will help reduce economic inequalities. If we can achieve this in our country, economic societies around the globe will all benefit. It is widely agreed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each watermark method consists of an embedding algorithm and an extracting algorithm. The embedding algorithm inserts the watermark information in the data and the extracting algorithm decodes the watermark information. Even after Vietnam has gained their independence in the tenth century, Chinese was still the language was being spoken and used in many written documents. However during the 16th and 17th centuries when Catholic missionaries arrived in Vietnam, they wanted to establish a writing system that could be easily taught to people in order to maintain their Catholic influence after they left. In 1651, a writing system based on the roman alphabet called Quốc ngữ was created gaining popularity amongst missionaries and followers. It took several years for the language to become more prominent in Vietnam eventually being deemed the official language used for public documents in 1910. • 49. A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Conner Essay Flannery O Conner grew up in the backwoods of Georgia, where she found her inspiration for her writing. Her Southern heritage was not the only thing that influenced her though; often her Roman Catholic faith would impact her stories as well (Ellis 35 36). She described herself as a Catholic peculiarly possessed of the modern consciousness (qtd. in Hubbard 38) and stated that the best of [her] work sounded like the old testament would sound if it were being written today (qtd. in Kreyling 85). As such, O Conner is known for her portrayal of religious themes throughout her writings. In A Good Man is Hard to Find, Flannery O Conner utilizes violence in order to develop the grandmother s character within the story, and by doing so, she is able to demonstrate the difference between having a moral code and being virtuous. For clarity, a person with a moral code by no means has to be virtuous, for a moral code is simply a set of rules or a code of conduct which governs how an individual should act within a community (Pam). By following a moral code, a character is not necessarily morally good. We see this clearly in the grandmother. From the very beginning, it is made clear that the grandmother s perception of right and wrong is rather superficial; that is to say, she bases both her code of conduct and her perception of being good off of the opinions of others. Making this abundantly clear in the very beginning of the story, O Conner writes a full paragraph to overly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Euthanasia is the intentional ending of a life with the purpose of relieving suffering. Euthanasia can be voluntary (at the request of the individual) or involuntary, (without the consent of the individual). To Christians all life is sacred and a gift from God (genesis 1:27). Also they believe that God alone has the right to take life: I was born with nothing and I will die with nothing. The Lord gave and now he has taken away Job 1:21. In the New Testament the writers encourage the Christians to look at suffering in a positive way, Trouble produces endurance, endurance brings God s approval, and his approval creates hope. Romans 5:3 4 The Presbyterian Church chooses to emphasis care for the dying as opposed to practising euthanasia. The church of Ireland believes that no one has the right to take away the right to life, but they also point out that if to continue the treatment of a patient is futile or hopeless, then it s not considered wrong to withhold that treatment.
