Richard Freeman Research Paper
Richard Freeman was born at Oakland Naval Hospital on October 8, 1986 to Windy Rice and Dale
Freeman. He was raised by his mom and grandparents with his sister. As a child, his family moved a
lot because his grandfather was in the Navy. He loved playing football. He enjoyed his childhood. As
a Freshman in High school on 9/11 he watched the twin towers fall in English class. He wanted to hurt
the terrorists that attacked our country. He felt this as a calling to join the military.
At 17 Richard joined the Army. He went to basic training between his junior and senior year in high
school at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He describes basic training as 90% mental and 10%
physical. He felt this was one of the easiest parts of his military service. He had to stay 2 weeks longer
than he was supposed to because of an injury. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He said that most people that go to Iraq and Afghanistan are MP or soldiers. He went to 6 flags, an
amusement park in the area of that base, many times there. He also played Call of Duty and worked

because after his transfer to infantry his old unit went overseas and his new unit had just got back from
overseas, which at that time was unpleasant for him because he wanted to go over and fight. He didn t
care what happened there thinking it would be great if it all ended there which now he thinks was
stupid because no one wants to die. In the Army he thought his job was to die for his country. Went to
funerals for dead soldiers and got annoyed by peace protesters that protested at military funerals. He
began to feel like the American people were turning against the

Diocletian Persecution Essay
When Christianity first came to the Roman Empire it was met with persecution, ridicule, and even
execution. Emperor Nero blamed the Christians for the Great Fires of Rome which was a widespread
urban fire that lasted for six days before being put out. The Fire took out three complete districts of
Rome and only three were left unmarred by its devastation. After being blamed for the Great Fire, the
Christians faced persecution for two and a half centuries. The most official and widespread
persecution of the Christians was carried out by Diocletian. Diocletian was the Emperor who split the
ruling of Rome into fourths and purged the empire of all invading and threatening outside sources.

Once Roman occupation of Britannia ended and the Anglo Saxons moved in to the previous land of
Roman occupation. The Swabians, Vandals, Alans, Visigoths, Franks, and Burgundians invaded Rome
seeking a more permanent settlement. The Huns pushed westward into the Roman territory of Gaul,
which led to the battle of Catalaunian Plains and Atilla retreated with his loot after he lost the battle to
Emperor Aetius. After the Huns came as close as they dared after their previous defeat they took over
Italy and in the next year Attila died and the Hun empire fell apart. The Roman empire hired the
Visigoths as mercenaries to guard the borders they has become laxe in watching. Eventually, Aleric
and the Visigoths invade Rome and tack over some of the Western Empire. The Vandals came next in
the invasion of Rome and they too took some of the precious Roman territory. Odoacer, a German

Congested Heart Failure Case Study Essay
Congested Heart Failure
(adapted from McGraw Hill Case Studies)
Chief Complaint: 74 year old woman with shortness of breath and swelling.
History: Martha Wilmington, a 74 year old woman with a history of rheumatic fever while in her
twenties, presented to her physician with complaints of increasing shortness of breath ( dyspnea )
upon exertion. She also noted that the typical swelling she s had in her ankles for years has started to
get worse over the past two months, making it especially difficult to get her shoes on toward the end
of the day. In the past week, she s had a decreased appetite, some nausea and vomiting, and tenderness
in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen.

As the blood quickly flows in, it will hit the hardened walls, creating an extra sound. In congestive
heart failure, preload and contractility are major factors in the improper functioning of the heart as a
pump.
3) Is her history of rheumatic fever relevant to her current symptoms? Explain. Rheumatic fever
caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria may cause damage to heart tissues including valves.
Overtime, congestive heart failure may have developed. However, the pulmonary semilunar valve
seems to be the issue in this case study, whereas rheumatic fever normally affects left heart tissue.
4) A chest X ray reveals a cardiac silhouette that is normal in diameter. Does this rule out a possible
problem with Martha s heart? Explain. No, a normal diameter of a cardiac silhouette does not rule out
a problem with Martha s heart. The heart adapts and will compensate for damage in order to still
function optimally. The right ventricle, in this case, will become stronger in order to push the same
amount of blood (stroke volume) through the narrowed pulmonary semi lunar valve. This thickening
doesn t necessarily change the inner diameter.
5) You examine Martha s abdomen and find that she has an enlarged liver ( hepatomegaly ) and a
moderate degree of ascites (water in the peritoneal cavity). Explain these findings.
The increased resistance of blood flow through the pulmonary semilunar valve from the right ventricle
backs up the pressure of blood

Donald Barthelme Not-Knowing
Not Knowing Summary
In Donald Barthelme s essay Not Knowing , Barthelme addresses his thoughts on writing, literature,
and art and the not knowing it encompasses. He expressed the great pleasure to be had in not knowing,
and the precision in arts ability to avoid being known and yet still be compelling.
Barthelme expresses there is no intuition when it comes to writing, just a slight itch. Writers like
himself are not knowing what they truly want to voice and that is the beauty behind the whole creative
process. He discusses early in the essay that the writer is one who, embarking upon a task, does not
know what to do and goes throughout discussing the technicalities of writing and the honesties along

Child Sexual Abuse Change
Child Sexual Abuse: Change of Conversation
Child sexual abuse has been a worldwide concern since it seems to be a very serious issue that many
children face. Child sexual abuse is the involvement of a child in a sexual activity in order to fulfill a
physical pleasure or a financial profit of the child. The debate on child sexual abuse has shifted
through the years from the early 2000s to 2016. Before 2010, the conversation was about informing
educators and parents about the issue and how could they prevent child sexual abuse to occur in their
fields? After 2010, the conversation shifted to how educators and parents take an actual move in
preventing sexual abuse of the children. The conversation has shifted from informing educators and
parents of the serious issue of child sexual abuse to taking movement in solving the issue because
educators and parents had a limited knowledge of taking an actual move in solving this problem and
prevent it to occur to their children.
In the year of 2007, researchers have found that child sexual abuse can ... Show more content on

Kurt Cobain Case
The latest lawsuit regarding Kurt Cobain s death scene images has been rejected by the King County
Superior Court on Friday, July 31. The lawsuit was filed by Richard Lee, a conspiracy theorist behind
the public show Now See It Person To Person: Kurt Cobain Was Murdered, who claims that Cobain
was actually murdered by government officials. Lee filed a lawsuit against Seattle, claiming that the
city purposefully withheld important reports and photos that would serve as evidence for his theory.
Ever since 1994, Lee has been on a mission to unveil the details regarding Cobain s death, but the
Superior Court Judge Theresa Doyle rejected the lawsuit with the explanation it was improperly
served. The verdict stated that Doyle failed to deliver the lawsuit to the mayor, city clerk or city
manager, who are the proper recipients of such cases. In addition, judge Doyle decided that Lee did

The Chase Approach
The Chase Approach, developed by Marian Chase, is the dance/movement therapy orientation that
continues to be studied and practiced the most to date. This orientation focuses on the therapist joining
a client on their verbal and physical level through mirroring or attunement. These interventions
involve group work that builds trust and communication through rhythmic movements. Mirroring of
the clients movements is a key rehabilitative intervention that validates their emotions on a deeply
personal and genuine level (Malchiodi, 2005, p.71). Susan Sandel, a student of Marian Chase,
identified the need to expand on the concept of mirroring through empathic reflection , which
highlighted the importance of nonjudgmental and supportive growth.

Researchers taught Ernie to ask for attention instead of engaging in aggressive behaviors by using
picture cards that displayed a form of attention from the therapist (Thompson et al.,1998).
Sessions of 30 s intervals were recorded and a picture card was placed in front of Ernie. If Ernie
handed the picture card to the therapist the therapist would give him attention. If he didn t do anything
15 s into the interval he was prompted on what to do. If he engaged in aggression behavior Ernie was
ignored. After training sessions, the researchers added extinction to FCT. Chin grinding and other
aggressive behaviors were ignored. An ABAB design was used to compare end results from FCT plus
extinction to baseline (Thompson et al.,1998).
Experiment III
This third experiment was conducted to reduce Ernie s chin grinding. It was concluded in the second
functional analysis of experiment two that Ernie s chin grinding was based on automatic
reinforcement. Ernie was provided with a similar stimulation for chin grinding. He was provided with
a device that provided similar stimulation to press against his chin. researchers used response block if

The Pros And Cons Of Baseball
According to the article, Quotations About Baseball (2017), Bill Veeck stated, That s the true
harbinger of spring, not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of a bat on a ball.
See what s crazy is this quote can apply to so much. As everyone loves when springtime rolls around,
avid sport lovers are eager for spring athletics. Known as America s pastime, baseball has been loved
amongst the country since its creation in 1836. According to the chart, Top 10 List of the World s Most
Popular Sports (2017), lists baseball as number seven and boasts a whopping five hundred million
fans . Being an average American, I notice how Americans close their mind to their beloved spring
athletics. Past the ocean borders beholds land with totally different cultures. Where America has
baseball, Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom all turn their eyes toward a sport that originated in
1877, cricket. Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017) lists cricket as the second most
popular sport in the world entrancing over 2.5 billion fans . While baseball is so popular in the United
States, cricket rules the eastern hemisphere with five times the number of fans. The two sports are
similar and different on multiple aspects, an argument definitely arises when discussing the difficulty
between the two. Each sport has their own attributes to declare better or more challenging than the
other. I believe it s all a matter of opinion, facts, and experience, but

Comparing Brahms And Pachelbel s Poem Time Line
Time Line
I detect the scent of round two blowing on the wind that gently courses its way over the hilly horizon
as the sun sets on the final page of a new chapter ... can you see it? Can you feel it? It s warm and
moist and is the color of old, stained and tattered sepia photographs of another time a time lost and
forgotten somewhere in between addiction and sobriety; a time after the birth of our children but
before the death of our parents; a time when love made sense and all the horror in the world couldn t
knock us off the back of the unicorn we once believed into existence with enough conviction to make
it as real as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Jesus and peace.
Oh my! Where has the time gone, and who are the keepers of time? Have they absconded with it,
along with our dreams, our realities, our nightmares? Will they return with it, or shall we just sit here
awaiting the end like two fishermen waiting for a nibble in a dried up lake? The question remains
unanswered just like many others, but wait we must, because we are still at the end of a long line and
our number isn t up yet, and this is one line where line jumpers are more than welcome.

Cell Phones Worst
Over the ages of time, there has been a questionable invention, several considered to be a disaster, but
the worst by far is the cell phone. A cell phone is not the worst because it doesn t always work or its

cyber bullying. Though viewed a cellphone is a helpful tool that most people have access to, it has
produced more negative effects on our health and well being rather than improved ourselves, and our
society. Schools enforce strict rules about the use of cell phones for the main reason such as students

The Challenges Of Growing Up In A Small City
Being raised in a small town was a challenge for me as a kid. A town in South Louisiana called
Chauvin runs along Bayou Little Caillou until it reaches the city of Cocodrie with marsh on the
opposite side of it. There were only a handful of streets off of the highway that served as
neighborhoods, since we were surrounded by water on both sides. I never got the opportunity to run
around the neighborhood with the kids around the block because we lived off of the highway. Instead,
I would run along to the neighbors house, which was owned by a man named Mr. John. Mr. John was
on older guy, about 6 foot and a little on the heavy side. He would always come home dressed in jeans
and a different color collared shirt with a label on the left side that read Cajun Critters . Cajun Critters
was Mr. John s Machine Shop he owned and ran. Until he told me, I would have never known that he
had his own business. Mr. John was my role model growing up. Yes my parents were there for me and
no I was never pushed away by them, but going over next door just sounded like a better plan for the
day. He acted like an Uncle for me, and his kids were all older and moved out so I was the only
company he would get, other than his wife of course. He would always tell me stories of him growing
up and how he could tell that I would be a successful person in the future. By the time I was a
sophomore in High School, I had known pretty much every detail of Mr. John s life. In 1967, Jonny

The Struggle Between Social Class In The Creature And...
The creature and Victor Frankenstein. Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle
between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display
by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s
Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the
bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared
to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar
dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises
between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his
labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his
creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and
Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes
enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as
the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or
his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the
upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At

Scriticism In The Sirens Of Titans
Most science fiction is rooted in the belief that through thinking human beings can indeed save the
planet and the species and that progress is not only possible but probable through science (Morse 293).
Dealing with themes common to most science fiction, Kurt Vonnegut s The Sirens of Titan explores
the question of purpose in a futuristic setting (May 35). This novel, however, contests many
presumptions upon which many science fiction foregrounds. Josh Simpson writes that by [us]ing
irony, satire, and black humor . . . Vonnegut forces his readers to consider what it means to be human
in a chaotic, often absurd, and irrational universe (262). In fact, many scholars would agree that The
Sirens of Titan is Vonnegut s most flamboyant novel, with its entire universe at the mercy of the
outrageous fortune (Wolfe 968). Seconding G. K. Wolfe s idea, Lynn Buck notes that the world of
Vonnegut is a mixture of hilarity and futility, [and] illusion (181). ... Show more content on

The Colonization Of Africa Is A Significant Reason Why The...
The colonization of Africa is a significant reason why the educational system in Africa is split between
the countries it holds. Between the late 1800s and early 1900s Africa faced many military annexations
and diplomatic conquests. The impact of colonialism has influenced the conflicts in Liberia that
happened in the late 1900s. Liberia s civil wars held a responsibility for the devastation that is
implicated in its racial stance. Social Darwinism gave support for the superior rule over Africa. Liberia
s conflicts play a notable role in how westernization of education and race are viewed throughout
Africa. Liberia s education system emerged because of these conflicts. Colonizing Africa began
between the 1870s 1900. An important tragedy of colonization is the stripping of ethnicities. Modern
Africa is a product of European imperialism, not African heritage and tradition. Once the profits of the
slave trade collapsed, because of its abolition, European markets were looking for ways to keep a
steady way to make profits. Traditionally, Africa had been divided into groups by tribe, family, clan
and lineage. During the process of colonization these characteristics were social, economic and
political. Colonial state formation caused new values, institutions and operational principles to take
place. The African colonization required the taking of territories that were unknown to the political
world. The old views on who would run each group were diminished by the new rulers

Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to exemplify how differences in molecular weight allow separation
of polymers from their monomers. Methods of dialysis and gel filtration chromatography will be used
to separate a glucose monomer from a starch polymer. Colorimetric glucose oxidase assay will be
used to monitor the presence of glucose and a colorimetric iodine assay will be used to monitor the
presence of starch in prepared solutions after separation

Mmr Vaccine And The Vaccine
Vaccines; a more than spectacular development of science which has prevented countless numbers of
diseases by giving one s body an immunity to a microorganism by stimulating the body s immune
system and giving it the ability to recognize the pathogen as it enters the body to be more easily and
readily destroyed. Autism, on the other hand, has not yet been fully linked back to a specific cause or
reason. Because of this uncertainty, disgruntled parents have chosen to believe ideas with no scientific
backing behind them besides what discredited scientist Wakefield said in a paper linking the MMR
vaccine to autism along with some celebrities following Jenny McCarthy s Anti Vaccination
Movement. This issue holds controversial value because of all of the parents whom refuse to vaccinate
their children putting them at risk for the diseases that the vaccine is supposed to prevent. All of this is
due to the one doctor who was bribed by a lawyer company four hundred thousand euros to bad mouth
vaccinations to give them a case against it in a lawsuit. This lost him his medical license and even still
is believed to this very day by a large group of people. This topic is talked about on the internet quite
often and it s typically a debate between parents and doctors with little to no reasoning behind the
parents perspective. This issue is so compelling because it is almost rage inducing to think about
parents putting their children s lives at risk for a controversy that was made

Anthropology In Sports
My personal interest in sports is based on how my parents and other family members nurtured me as a
child and youth. My continuous interest in sports has influenced my choice of this topic to provide me
a field experience and a deeper understanding. I have always been interested and engaged in play and
sports. Volleyball is my favorite sport and was the first organised sport I played in junior secondary
school at age 12. I have been involved in several competitive sports at from the amateur to the
national/elite level. I have participated in team sports (e.g., volleyball and soccer), field events (e.g.,
high jump, long jump), and track events (e.g., 100m, 200m, 400m, 800). I chose to focus on volleyball
for this project because it is a sport with which I am most comfortable and familiar. 1.4 Justification of
Study The anthropology of sports is a cross cultural sub discipline that focuses on analyses of sports
related social problems (Blanchard 1995:23). Although physical anthropologists for decades have
done studies on body types, morphology, and functions, less work has been done in the area of
cultural, social and psychological settings with regards to the way individuals live and also perform
(Malina 1972). There are virtually unlimited opportunities for additional research to be done (Coakley

Analysis Of Tim Willis s The At T Summer Bridge
When I first arrived to the AT T Summer Bridge, one of the first people I meet was Tim Willis. He was
heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present in that time. The more I talked to him
the more interesting his experiences were. He then invited me to check out the Sooner off Road team,
and joined the team. Tim is in his senior year of school and is the person with a lot of experience in the
Mechanical Engineering field before graduation. His interest was more through tinkering with things.
From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test things in his free time. During this time, he
joined the Boys Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout in the organization. To achieve this
rank he created a Man made waterfall in a stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very
challenging, but after that he finds a challenge and tackles it head on. However, the greatest challenge
he had to tackle was in 2011. During that year Tim was a junior in high school, his house was hit by a
tornado.
Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back. This thought me a
lesson in humbleness, through the whole process of getting back to where we were. I mean we went
from having a home to being homeless. It made me realize that things don not last forever.

Data is important and a main stream form of communication throughout the world; however, without
being able to represent the data in a format that is easily understandable, then the data will not be as
useful. Anderson, Sweeney, Williams, Camm, Cochran (2015) define data as the facts and figures
collected, analyzed, and summarized for presentation and interpretation (p. 5). It is important for
statisticians, mangers, and employees to collect and present statistical data in accurate and easy to read

Essay 1 Elephant
Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard.
Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong decisions
or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were trying to escape
from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not
always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something
productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the
most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point is William and his life,

wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a time where he was
waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The
elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his
mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in
him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a
switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving
to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with
the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with
his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s
introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s
life, because Nothing happens the way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant,
Williams does realize that he actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences.

Rabbit, Run by John Updike
Rabbit, Run by John Updike is a novel about a young man named Harry Rabbit Angstrom who leaves
his pregnant wife and young child and begins a journey to find happiness and freedom. He gets
involved with a prostitute and stays with her until his wife has their baby girl. While he is away from
his wife he is counseled by Reverend Eccles who tries to help Rabbit s situation, although it does not
do much good. After the new baby is born Rabbit leaves his wife again to go back with Ruth, the
woman he was with before. While he is away the second time, his wife drinks too much and
accidentally drowns their newborn. In the end, Rabbit runs away from both his family and Ruth. In his
article Rabbit Angstrom as a Religious Sufferer Lewis Lawson explores Rabbit s journey and how it is
relatable to religion and spirituality. He goes through the novel and finds examples that prove his
point. These examples illustrate Rabbit s connection and struggle with religion and to his own identity.
His main goal is to highlight Rabbit s struggle with being religious in a world which is not a religious
one but believes that it is.
Lawson begins his argument by speaking on Rabbit s relationship with his past successes, especially
with basketball. He explains that Rabbit has an ontological connection with basketball. His abilities in
the game represent, for him, a reassurance of being. Lawson gives the example in the beginning of the
novel where Rabbit joins the basketball game. This

Boo Radley
People tend to get upset when details get left out when books are turned into movies or plays. To Kill
a Mockingbird is about a family living in a fictional town called Maycomb, Alabama during the Great
Depression. The family consisted of a father, Atticus Finch, a brother, Jem Finch, and a sister, Jean
Louise (Scout) Finch. At this time, racial discrimination existed and caused tension everywhere.
Although, without racial discrimination readers wouldn t be introduced to a shy character named
Arthur (Boo) Radley. Boo Radley was a young man who stayed within the confinement of his home.
He is rumored to be scary, but he actually just chooses to stay inside away from all the tragedy
happening outside. In the play, several details such as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scout is still very young during the book and doesn t seem to quite understand all that is happening.
She thinks that her father is of very old age, but in reality he is not. For instance, Atticus was feeble:
he was nearly fifty (Lee, 118). Additionally, Harper Lee told the book from Scout s point of view to
show a child s perspective, but perhaps Miss Maudie s narration of the play was of greater importance
to the audience.
Changing the narration of the story helps the audience understand, but changing the opening scenes
helps them follow the story. Another difference between the book and the play is that the book opens
with Jem breaking his arm, while the play opens with Its a sin to kill a mockingbird. The author,
Harper Lee, wanted to symbolize the meaning of the mockingbird in the story. In addition,
mockingbirds don t harm humans in anyway. Mockingbirds simply sing for everyone to enjoy with
pleasure. Lee writes That s why it s a sin to kill a mockingbird (119). In the play, they started with It s
a sin to kill a mockingbird to emphasize the importance of the saying throughout the story. The
difference between the opening scenes helps readers follow along, while the difference in the setting
of the fight scene allows the audience to

Slavery had an effect on the world as we know it today for many differnet reasons. African American
slaves were considered the prime slave workers during the time of the atlantic world and this caused
African slaves to live a very brutal and unequal life to this day. When the english settled in the

best option. The best farming grounds were in central america, the only problem is the weather in

When slaves arrived in the new land, they had brought with them simple things such as music, culture,

number of slaves to choose from was a large amount. To get a profit from a slaves life they only had to

the 1800 s did the slavery of African Americans end. Americans did not drop the fact that Africans
were slaves and considered not human so Americans developed rasism. To this very day, African
Americans are still treated unfair and very uneqaul compared to the white men . This caused enormous

Characterism And Criticism In John Updike s A + P
Every character in works of literature is subjected to criticism and critique by its readers. In the short
story, A+P , the protagonist, Sammy has been subjected to criticism for his actions of quitting his job,
a reaction of seeing young ladies be disrespected in his workplace for wearing bathing suits. Many
readers depict Sammy as immature and ignorant for quitting his job. However, the author, John
Updike contradicts this assumption, portraying Sammy as a nineteen year old, who demonstrates
strong morals, ambition, defiance, and a promising future, characterizing him not as an insolent teen
but a developing young man. Sammy displays his maturity through his strong morals by refusing to

Sammy contains morals, yearnings for success, and defiance at only nineteen. Sammy achieves these
standards that many individuals can not attain at nineteen, demonstrating his bright potential as an
employee and a person. After Sammy resigns from his cashier job he steps out into the A+P parking
lot. He remarks, The door heaves itself open, and outside the sunshine is skating around the asphalt
(Updike). The sunshine and good weather when Sammy exits A+P is symbolic of his bright future,
one filled with potential and success. His potential, which is granted to him by his previous actions,
indicates that Sammy is capable of anything. Sammy was the only person who spoke in defense of the
young girls who were ridiculed by Lengel, showing his kindness and compassion, which are
admirable qualities of any employee. If Sammy did not have the courage to quit his job, he would
spend the rest of his life as a cashier, catering to others needs rather than his own. This proves that

1. Shift marketing research focus
TiVo s market research efforts were put on understanding current clients while it was not clear the
total number of still available clients in the market as well as other important factors regarding buying
behavior were not being considered.
We cannot assume that everyone with a TV enjoys it as much as current clients do and feel the
necessity to record their TV shows. The focus in current clients behavior and the lack of information
about the rest of the market considering client s cultural, social and personal factors does not allow us
to clearly see the potential for this product and more effort must be put on that rather than simple sales
effort.
Furthermore, it should be noticed that the results of the marketing research carried out by TiVo could
be influenced by a set of other biases: non response bias; web users bias; reward bias; questionnaire
length bias and formulation bias (the bi annual survey asks directly about satisfaction , which makes
respondents typically score high).
2. Influence problem recognition
From these learnings we can see that there was an important element in promoting the product which

  • 2. Richard Freeman Research Paper Richard Freeman was born at Oakland Naval Hospital on October 8, 1986 to Windy Rice and Dale Freeman. He was raised by his mom and grandparents with his sister. As a child, his family moved a lot because his grandfather was in the Navy. He loved playing football. He enjoyed his childhood. As a Freshman in High school on 9/11 he watched the twin towers fall in English class. He wanted to hurt the terrorists that attacked our country. He felt this as a calling to join the military. At 17 Richard joined the Army. He went to basic training between his junior and senior year in high school at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He describes basic training as 90% mental and 10% physical. He felt this was one of the easiest parts of his military service. He had to stay 2 weeks longer than he was supposed to because of an injury. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He said that most people that go to Iraq and Afghanistan are MP or soldiers. He went to 6 flags, an amusement park in the area of that base, many times there. He also played Call of Duty and worked out, and practiced on his weapon a lot when waiting to get called overseas. He never went overseas because after his transfer to infantry his old unit went overseas and his new unit had just got back from overseas, which at that time was unpleasant for him because he wanted to go over and fight. He didn t care what happened there thinking it would be great if it all ended there which now he thinks was stupid because no one wants to die. In the Army he thought his job was to die for his country. Went to funerals for dead soldiers and got annoyed by peace protesters that protested at military funerals. He began to feel like the American people were turning against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Diocletian Persecution Essay When Christianity first came to the Roman Empire it was met with persecution, ridicule, and even execution. Emperor Nero blamed the Christians for the Great Fires of Rome which was a widespread urban fire that lasted for six days before being put out. The Fire took out three complete districts of Rome and only three were left unmarred by its devastation. After being blamed for the Great Fire, the Christians faced persecution for two and a half centuries. The most official and widespread persecution of the Christians was carried out by Diocletian. Diocletian was the Emperor who split the ruling of Rome into fourths and purged the empire of all invading and threatening outside sources. Once Roman occupation of Britannia ended and the Anglo Saxons moved in to the previous land of Roman occupation. The Swabians, Vandals, Alans, Visigoths, Franks, and Burgundians invaded Rome seeking a more permanent settlement. The Huns pushed westward into the Roman territory of Gaul, which led to the battle of Catalaunian Plains and Atilla retreated with his loot after he lost the battle to Emperor Aetius. After the Huns came as close as they dared after their previous defeat they took over Italy and in the next year Attila died and the Hun empire fell apart. The Roman empire hired the Visigoths as mercenaries to guard the borders they has become laxe in watching. Eventually, Aleric and the Visigoths invade Rome and tack over some of the Western Empire. The Vandals came next in the invasion of Rome and they too took some of the precious Roman territory. History: Martha Wilmington, a 74 year old woman with a history of rheumatic fever while in her twenties, presented to her physician with complaints of increasing shortness of breath ( dyspnea ) upon exertion. She also noted that the typical swelling she s had in her ankles for years has started to get worse over the past two months, making it especially difficult to get her shoes on toward the end of the day. In the past week, she s had a decreased appetite, some nausea and vomiting, and tenderness in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. On physical examination, Martha s jugular veins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the blood quickly flows in, it will hit the hardened walls, creating an extra sound. In congestive heart failure, preload and contractility are major factors in the improper functioning of the heart as a pump. 3) Is her history of rheumatic fever relevant to her current symptoms? Explain. Rheumatic fever caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria may cause damage to heart tissues including valves. Overtime, congestive heart failure may have developed. However, the pulmonary semilunar valve seems to be the issue in this case study, whereas rheumatic fever normally affects left heart tissue. 4) A chest X ray reveals a cardiac silhouette that is normal in diameter. Does this rule out a possible problem with Martha s heart? Explain. No, a normal diameter of a cardiac silhouette does not rule out a problem with Martha s heart. The heart adapts and will compensate for damage in order to still function optimally. The right ventricle, in this case, will become stronger in order to push the same amount of blood (stroke volume) through the narrowed pulmonary semi lunar valve. This thickening doesn t necessarily change the inner diameter. 5) You examine Martha s abdomen and find that she has an enlarged liver ( hepatomegaly ) and a moderate degree of ascites (water in the peritoneal cavity). Explain these findings. The increased resistance of blood flow through the pulmonary semilunar valve from the right ventricle backs up the pressure of blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He expressed the great pleasure to be had in not knowing, and the precision in arts ability to avoid being known and yet still be compelling. Barthelme expresses there is no intuition when it comes to writing, just a slight itch. Writers like himself are not knowing what they truly want to voice and that is the beauty behind the whole creative process. The Pros And Cons Of Baseball According to the article, Quotations About Baseball (2017), Bill Veeck stated, That s the true harbinger of spring, not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of a bat on a ball. See what s crazy is this quote can apply to so much. As everyone loves when springtime rolls around, avid sport lovers are eager for spring athletics. According to the chart, Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017), lists baseball as number seven and boasts a whopping five hundred million fans . Being an average American, I notice how Americans close their mind to their beloved spring athletics. Past the ocean borders beholds land with totally different cultures. Where America has baseball, Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom all turn their eyes toward a sport that originated in 1877, cricket. Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017) lists cricket as the second most popular sport in the world entrancing over 2.5 billion fans . While baseball is so popular in the United States, cricket rules the eastern hemisphere with five times the number of fans. Comparing Brahms And Pachelbel s Poem Time Line Time Line I detect the scent of round two blowing on the wind that gently courses its way over the hilly horizon as the sun sets on the final page of a new chapter ... can you see it? Can you feel it? It s warm and moist and is the color of old, stained and tattered sepia photographs of another time a time lost and forgotten somewhere in between addiction and sobriety; a time after the birth of our children but before the death of our parents; a time when love made sense and all the horror in the world couldn t knock us off the back of the unicorn we once believed into existence with enough conviction to make it as real as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Jesus and peace. Oh my! Where has the time gone, and who are the keepers of time? Have they absconded with it, along with our dreams, our realities, our nightmares? Will they return with it, or shall we just sit here awaiting the end like two fishermen waiting for a nibble in a dried up lake? The question remains unanswered just like many others, but wait we must, because we are still at the end of a long line and our number isn t up yet, and this is one line where line jumpers are more than welcome. A town in South Louisiana called Chauvin runs along Bayou Little Caillou until it reaches the city of Cocodrie with marsh on the opposite side of it. There were only a handful of streets off of the highway that served as neighborhoods, since we were surrounded by water on both sides. I never got the opportunity to run around the neighborhood with the kids around the block because we lived off of the highway. Instead, I would run along to the neighbors house, which was owned by a man named Mr. John. Mr. John was on older guy, about 6 foot and a little on the heavy side. He would always come home dressed in jeans and a different color collared shirt with a label on the left side that read Cajun Critters . Cajun Critters was Mr. John s Machine Shop he owned and ran. • 14. The Struggle Between Social Class In The Creature And... The creature and Victor Frankenstein. Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Colonization Of Africa Is A Significant Reason Why The... The colonization of Africa is a significant reason why the educational system in Africa is split between the countries it holds. Between the late 1800s and early 1900s Africa faced many military annexations and diplomatic conquests. The impact of colonialism has influenced the conflicts in Liberia that happened in the late 1900s. Liberia s civil wars held a responsibility for the devastation that is implicated in its racial stance. Social Darwinism gave support for the superior rule over Africa. Liberia s conflicts play a notable role in how westernization of education and race are viewed throughout Africa. Liberia s education system emerged because of these conflicts. Colonizing Africa began between the 1870s 1900. An important tragedy of colonization is the stripping of ethnicities. Modern Africa is a product of European imperialism, not African heritage and tradition. Once the profits of the slave trade collapsed, because of its abolition, European markets were looking for ways to keep a steady way to make profits. Traditionally, Africa had been divided into groups by tribe, family, clan and lineage. During the process of colonization these characteristics were social, economic and political. Colonial state formation caused new values, institutions and operational principles to take place. The African colonization required the taking of territories that were unknown to the political world. The old views on who would run each group were diminished by the new rulers ... While he is away from his wife he is counseled by Reverend Eccles who tries to help Rabbit s situation, although it does not do much good. The slaves were in dreadful conditions being in close bunkers for anywhere over a 6 week journey. Slaves would only be in fresh air (top deck) for a few hours a week, even if that. This caused many slaves to die in the journey. When slaves arrived in the new land, they had brought with them simple things such as music, culture, and religion. Once slaves arrived at the new world they were auctioned off the the highest bidder. The number of slaves to choose from was a large amount. To get a profit from a slaves life they only had to be alive for 2.7 years, which caused a slave owner to be free to work their slaves to death. Not until the 1800 s did the slavery of African Americans end. Americans did not drop the fact that Africans were slaves and considered not human so Americans developed rasism. To this very day, African Americans are still treated unfair and very uneqaul compared to the white men . In the short story, A+P , the protagonist, Sammy has been subjected to criticism for his actions of quitting his job, a reaction of seeing young ladies be disrespected in his workplace for wearing bathing suits. Many readers depict Sammy as immature and ignorant for quitting his job. However, the author, John Updike contradicts this assumption, portraying Sammy as a nineteen year old, who demonstrates strong morals, ambition, defiance, and a promising future, characterizing him not as an insolent teen but a developing young man. Sammy displays his maturity through his strong morals by refusing to work in a profession where customers are degraded. Sammy, a cashier at A+P, is like a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sammy contains morals, yearnings for success, and defiance at only nineteen. Sammy achieves these standards that many individuals can not attain at nineteen, demonstrating his bright potential as an employee and a person. After Sammy resigns from his cashier job he steps out into the A+P parking lot. He remarks, The door heaves itself open, and outside the sunshine is skating around the asphalt (Updike). The sunshine and good weather when Sammy exits A+P is symbolic of his bright future, one filled with potential and success. His potential, which is granted to him by his previous actions, indicates that Sammy is capable of anything. Sammy was the only person who spoke in defense of the young girls who were ridiculed by Lengel, showing his kindness and compassion, which are admirable qualities of any employee. If Sammy did not have the courage to quit his job, he would spend the rest of his life as a cashier, catering to others needs rather than his own. This proves that standing up for one s beliefs will prompt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shift marketing research focus TiVo s market research efforts were put on understanding current clients while it was not clear the total number of still available clients in the market as well as other important factors regarding buying behavior were not being considered. We cannot assume that everyone with a TV enjoys it as much as current clients do and feel the necessity to record their TV shows. The focus in current clients behavior and the lack of information about the rest of the market considering client s cultural, social and personal factors does not allow us to clearly see the potential for this product and more effort must be put on that rather than simple sales effort. Furthermore, it should be noticed that the results of the marketing research carried out by TiVo could be influenced by a set of other biases: non response bias; web users bias; reward bias; questionnaire length bias and formulation bias (the bi annual survey asks directly about satisfaction , which makes respondents typically score high). 2. Sports has always been seen as a male dominated activity in America and even with the increase of female participation and mainstream interest there is still a perception that sports is man s world. There is also another assumption by people in our society that men are naturally better than women in sports. Speaking from a general standpoint that is not true. If a woman has the right skill and receives the proper coaching with good consistent practice she can beat a man in any sport. Mo ne Davis proved it last year in the Little League World Series when she became the first woman earn a with and a shutout as a pitcher.
