Nameexoworlds Contest Research Paper
If you ve been waiting all your life for the opportunity to name alien planets, wait no further, because
now s your chance to finally fulfill that childhood dream of yours. Thanks to the International
Astronomical Union s NameExoWorlds contest, you finally have a say in what a planet gets named,
the first time in history that the public has been given this grand opportunity. The contest also allows
the public to name several stars, something that hasn t happened in hundreds of years, according to the
IAU.

Their explanation was, Errai is Arabic for shepherd, so we chose an Arabic word for sheep, which is
herded by the shepherd.
For the star Pollux (beta Germinorum), the exoplanet Pollux b is up for naming. One group proposed
the name Leda, and said that in Greek mythology, the father of the twins Pollux and Castor is said to
be either Zeus or Tyndareus (the king of Sparta) depending on which version you go by. But all
versions have Leda as their mother, so it is fitting that the celestial version of Pollux is accompanied
by his beautiful mother Leda in an everlasting celestial orbit.
The system for 42 Draconis is home to the exoplanet 42 Draconis b, and both the star and its planet
are up for naming. One group proposed that the star be named Vepolar, explaining that is is because it
is the northern pole star of Venus. They proposed the name Brug for the planet, saying Brug is the
word Dragon in Tibetan language. We propose this name because this stellar system is located in the

Misrepresentation Of Chinese Culture
Nowadays, some chinese culture are misrepresented by people in other countries. In the essay,I will
talk about three kinds of misrepresentation of Chinese culture.
Due to the movie montage and some exaggerated shooting techniques, some foreigners have a deep
misunderstanding of Chinese Kung Fu (like Kung Fu dodge and the internal strength).
However, the essence of Chinese martial arts is to move as much in order to keep fit and keep calm.
People who practice the martial arts, naturally have more strength and good at fighting. But all these
achievements were based on the perennial hard work. It s ridiculous to consider using a few days to
learn Chinese Kung Fu.
When I talked with my American friends, the most common answers I get are Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan,
and Kungfu. Honestly, kung fu is such a mysterious thing to me.
The representation of Kung Fu in China has a large difference from those in the US movies. We call it
the type of martial arts Wu Shu (Wu refers to martial arts;Shu means a hero).
Because I grew up with a lot of martial arts novels, I was glad meet a martial arts artist called
Christopher Pei who was the first Kung Fu artist I have ever seen.
The first thing master Pei told me was Kung Fu s misunderstanding of martial arts ( martial arts or
discipline ,an exhibition of traditional Chinese martial arts and all in one sports.) To be aware of this
fact, I felt a bit disappointed. I believe that Kung Fu is a generation after generation of secrets, only in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Frozen Dough
It has been believed from ages that there is no substitute for fresh baked product. However the current
trend in the baking industry is to use frozen dough to manufacture quality product because it can be
quickly transformed into fresh baked product. Main advantages of freezing of dough are reduction of
losses caused by aging of products and harmonization of product with the market demands (Dodic et
al, 2007). However use of frozen dough has certain disadvantages such as its variable performance
and loss of stability over long term frozen storage (Inoue and Bushuk, 1991; Berglund 1988). All this
results in prolonged final fermentation time, lower loaf volume, and poor bread characteristics (shape
of bread, uniform pores, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agar forms the strongest and most stable gels at lowest concentration. Agar gels are transparent and
reversible upon heating and cooling. Therefore agar finds several uses in stabilizing food products.
Carrageenans are also sulphated galactans from seaweed extracts. These are both gel forming and non
gel forming carageenan fractions. Both form stable complexes with proteins and other gums.
Carrageenan are especially useful in dairy products because they form stabilizing complexes with milk
proteins and suspended cocoa powder in milk and give a more acceptable texture to processed cheese
and cream.
Some microbial gums also find use in foods. Two important ones are dextrans and xanthan gums.
Dextran is a polysaccharides consisting of D glucose units. Dextrans of molecular weight below
100,000 are readily soluble in water and are used in many food products. Xanthans are formed by the
action of bacterium Xanthomonas compestris on D glucose. The gum contains D glucose, D mannose
and D galacturonic acid and has a high molecular weight. It is dissolved in cold water and finds use in
food as a stabilizer, emulisifier, thickener, suspending agent, bodying and foam enhancer (Whistler
and Bemiller, 1972). Gums are widely used in baked goods to enhance dough handling properties, to
increase overall quality of the fresh products and to extend shelf life of stored goods. Different
hydrocolloids had been proved beneficial (sodium alginate,

Wynand And Toohey s Struggle For Power In The Fountainhead
Every man builds his world in his own image. He has the power to choose, but no power to escape the
necessity of choice (Rand). Rand s defined emphasis on the consequences resulting from one s choices
in life is abruptly emphasized in The Fountainhead. Wynand and Toohey s rise to recognition differs
greatly as each man s quest for power is obtained from contrasting motives made even more apparent
when compared to the character of Howard Roark and his drive towards intangible riches. Gail
Wynand, a self made millionaire, derives his motivation for success from the pleasant satisfaction he
receives when looking down upon the material empire he creates, while Ellsworth Toohey gains
pleasure when controlling those closest to him with manipulation, ... Show more content on

Even Toohey s niece, Catherine, is within the reign of his subtle dominance when he advises her not to
go to college because It s not advisable...to experiment with the laws of nature (59). Though Toohey
leaves the decision to Catherine to continue with her future, his deadly delicacy hints at the idea of
failure if she follows through with her original plan of going to college. Likewise, Toohey steadily
uses Peter as a pawn in his game to succeed in his rise to power. In Part Two, Rand further brings to
light Toohey s strong will as he urges Peter to marry Dominique, despite being well informed of the
love Catherine has for Peter. Toohey understands Peter s marriage to Dominique will further benefit
himself because of the distress their union inflicts upon Roark. Regardless of his efforts to destroy
him, Toohey is unable to quench Roark s rambunctious flame. This is exemplified while, during the
construction of the Stoddard temple, Ellsworth highly recommends Roark as a valued architect. With
this cunning act Toohey is able to bring recognition to Roark and falsely ensure Toohey of his grip on
Roark s career. Overall, since childhood Toohey possesses the power to manipulate those closest to
him in order to bring him to

Assignment On Deck Repairs And Costs
Deck Repairs and Costs
The type of wood that comprises your deck will play a big role in determining what repairs are
necessary, and on what timeline. While composite decks are becoming more and more popular, there s
just no denying the beauty and longevity of a wood deck. Wood decks should last for several decades
when properly maintained, and cost less to install than composite decks.
Wood decks also increase the value of your home, and it is estimated that a standard wood deck will
recoup on average 85.4 percent of its cost when the house is sold. In comparison, a composite deck
will only recoup an average 77.6 percent of its total cost.
Regardless of which type of wood your current deck is made of, the following repairs are most often
required at some point in the life of your deck:
Replacing Deck Boards
One of the most common repair projects is replacing deck boards. You might need to do this for a
variety of reasons, including:
● Instability If the boards themselves have become unstable, they should be replaced. Replacing a few
deck boards will generally run $500 to 4,000. Some companies charge a minimum of $1,000 for
carpentry repairs, so be sure to get quotes.
● Stairs and/or railing that are loose or not up to code Depending on the severity of the issue with your
stairs or railing, expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $4,000 for this type of repair job, depending on
local rates and materials.
● Mildew Mold and mildew can build up in decks that haven t been

Netball Is A Ball Sport Played By Two Teams Of Seven Players
Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early
versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been
standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women s Basketball (later
renamed the International Netball Federation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF comprises more
than 60 national teams organized into five global regions.
Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to
score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned
specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas
of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only three seconds before
shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most
goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to increase the game s pace
and appeal to a wider audience.
Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly
played by women. According to the INF, netball is played by more than 20 million people in more
than 80 countries.[12][13] Major transnational competitions take place, including the Netball
Superleague in Great Britain and the ANZ Championship in Australia and New Zealand. Three major

Gangster Genre In The Film Goodfellas By Martin Scorsese
The America gangster genre were life lessons that faced social issues and revealed the reality of
materialism. The typological characteristics in the gangster films were stories being told from a
criminal s point of view. Most gangster protagonists in the films are born outsider, immigrants, or
other groups who continues to be treated as outsiders. The gangster genre illustrates immigrants and
nativists who had different perspectives about what is the American Dream . The history of the
gangster genre is difficult to define, because there are several overlaps with gangster genre among
other film genre styles. The confirmation of what is a true gangster film involves the gangster
protagonist telling their story.

An African American gangster film, known as a gangsta film is about a heroin dealer name Frank
Lucas. Lucas organized crime in Harlem during the late 1960 s and early 1970 s. His tactics were
cutting out the middlemen in the drug trade and buying heroin directly from his source in Southeast
Asia. Then he proceeded to smuggle the heroin from Vietnam to the U.S. by using the coffins of dead
American servicemen (Frank, web). Another film called, Boardwalk Empire who added a political
dimension, continuing the gangster genre s focus on the fragility of the American Dream by the links
it made noticeable among family, crime, and national and local politics (Friedman, 422).
The American Dream is an illusion and the gangster genre showed those illusions in an entertainment
point of view. The gangster protagonists all were searching for a better life. Their perceptions of the
American Dream were someone being on top with money and power. Most of the protagonists were
immigrants who wanted to be a part of society that held barriers against them. The gangster genre
films allow the audience to see that Americans tend to lose their grip on reality as they pursue their
desires for success. Every gangster film s protagonist has their own perspective about the American

Physician Assistant Research Paper
Physician Assistant The first duties of the Physician is to educate the masses not to take the medicine.
This is a quote said by William Osler telling how a Physician s job is to give information on the drugs
and not to use them. The role of a Physician Assistant is to help the Physician do their job. A Physician
Assistant also known as a (PA) can diagnose and prescribe medications. A PA works above a Nurse
but under the supervision of a Doctor. A Physician Assistant typically works around 4 days a week. A
Physician Assistant is a fascinating and fulfilling career because it provides good pay, is mentally
challenging, and this profession benefits society by helping others. One of the many advantages of
being a Physician Assistant is it provides a great salary. Emergency Room Physician Assistant salaries
varied greatly. As of 2014 the lowest 10% earned less than $62,000. The average PA salary was
$98,000. Meanwhile the highest 10% earned more than $139,000. The Physician Assistant occupation
is expected to grow 38% by 2022. That is a faster growth than normal. The necessary schooling in

Three Laws Of Robotics
The Three Laws of Robotics were formulated by Isaac Asimov with the aim of creating a trusted
protection of humans from robots and vice versa. However, Asimov s short stories quite usually
challenge the rules that he has created. This essay will discuss three Asimov short stories that present
us with certain flaws in regards to the Three Laws of Robotics. The three stories will be Liar! ,
Runaround , and That Thou Art Mindful of Him . Through Liar! , Asimov is able to question the
meaning of harm, he is thus able to show that a problem will arise when considering what sort of harm
robots can protect us from. Through the short story Runaround , Asimov questions the importance of
each Law, creating scenarios in which a robot has to disobey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In this short story, it is seen that a development which is meant to enhance the ability of robots to
adhere to the Three Laws leads to the opening of a whole new realm of problems. Keith Harriman,
director of US Robots, explains that a certain model of robots is being reproduced to have the ability
to weigh every human being giving it an order in terms of factors such as age, gender and intelligence
(Asimov 1974: 609 610). Understandably, this supposed improvement to the robot is meant to ensure
that the robots ability to follow the rules is improved. More specifically, it is meant to strengthen their
adherence to the Second Law, which states, A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings
except where such orders would conflict with the First Law (Asimov 1974: page 605). However, in
practice, this development would actually break the First Law of Robotics. Keith Harriman states, A
robot they say, has no right to brand this person or that person as inferior. By accepting the orders of A
in preference to that of B, B is branded as of less consequence than A and his human rights are
violated. (Asimov 1974: page 609) This statement illustrates that a robot that follows an order of one
human being in favour of another, would be breaking the First Law of Robotics because the other
human being would feel inferior and would be

Hutton and Bate s views on Charles II s Domestic Policy in England In the books Charles II King of
England, Scotland, and Ireland, by Ronald Hutton, and The Declaration of Indulgence 1672 a study in
the rise of organized dissent, by Frank Bate, both authors expound the Declaration of Indulgence
enforced by King Charles II of England in 1672 in attempt to restore religious toleration to all
religions. Ronald Hutton, the author of Charles II King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, believes
that the Declaration of Indulgence was the key to keeping England unified. Hutton also believes that
the Cavalier Parliament was attempting to bring England back to a pre reformation era. In 1662,
Parliament established this by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relentless and inhumane. Hutton views on Parliament were slightly different. Hutton interpreted
Parliament s Act of Uniformity as a way of restoring order to the government. While their opinions
about Parliament s Act are different, they both agree that Parliament is limiting the power of the
throne: ecclesiastically and politically. The Declaration of Indulgence did successfully grant religious
tolerance to Catholics and Protestants. After the creation of the Test Act, all non anglicans lost the
right to hold civil or military office. In conclusion, both authors agree that the Charles s domestic

Magnesium And Hydrochloric Acid Lab Report
On November 3, 2017, I conducted an experiment with the purpose of measuring the heat in a reaction
between a mixture of Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid (HCI). While being mixed, the reaction can
either release or obtain more energy in an excessive manner. The surrounding environment then can
give a measure of the amount of heat energy, and in this case the surrounding environment is a
calorimeter. A calorimeter is a tool that is able to isolate the reaction from its surroundings, and is a
very essential part of the lab. One must be careful when conducting this experiment so that the
calorimeter can successfully retain the energy so the results will be as accurate as possible.
There are two possible reactions that can occur during an experiment. The first one is an endothermic
reaction, which is when there is a flow of heat coming into the reaction. When this happens, it will be

The rising need for protection of intellectual property rights and improvement of public health lead the
pharmaceutical industry to establish an agreement in 2001 with the World Trade Organization. In
Sanofi s earliest archived sustainability effort, Environmental Progress Report 2001, it states that
Sanofi has taken initiatives to promote sustainable development as a reaction to the rise of wider and
on going responsibilities. They have pursued these defensive efforts through promoting safety in the
workplace, industrial hygiene, respecting the environment, training investment, and many more.
Sanofi is shelling out great investments for their sustainability programs. In 2001 alone, Sanofi
allocated 11.2 Million Euros for a program to limit its operations impact on the environment. By 2008,
Sanofi showed efforts of compliance with the United Nation s Agenda 21 Blueprint for sustainability
by establishing the four pillars (i.e. Patient, Ethics, Planet, and People) that serves as the foundation of
their sustainability efforts . In the following year, Sanofi began its transformation to a diversified
global health care company. With this, a Corporate Social Responsibility Direction was created which
changed their sustainability report to an encompassing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.

When I was in the 7th grade, all students were required to take a Data Processing class, which

that was way better than riding the bus, so I tried to discretely respond that yes, I would like her to

H.P. Lovecraft’s Fascination in Supernatural Theories Essay
H.P. Lovecraft s fascination in supernatural theories plays into a main basis for his novels. (Wohleber)
With the unknown lurking, Lovecraft incorporates horror through the use of psychological fear as a
form of expression making it become crucial for many of his works. At the Mountains of Madness
encompasses this thought by the expeditions before and after effects on the characters. The urge to be
a success fills the scientists up with courage to embark on such a dangerous trip; however, after the

The horror felt by the characters in the novel are not those of pain, but simply the fear of knowing the
unsuspected truth hiding just beneath the surface of things. (Wohleber.) Lovecraft s writing goes
beyond what tends to be said as horror by using madness in his characters, suspicion and discovery to
the surroundings and the belief of supernatural beings upon us on Earth.(Wohleber.) Such statements
tamper with the mind because with enough evidence one can only wonder whether situations in life
like that can happen. Throughout the book the confusion only grows more by showing how their
suspicion makes them come up with ideas that didn t even happen. When arriving at base and having
only one person a group of dogs missing while everyone else is dead can only make someone bring up
ideas on who is behind it all. Situations like these tamper with the characters head only leading them
to further insanity. Lovecraft works with the nature of fear in literature. He possesses an understanding
of the psychological basis of horror appeal. (Burleson.) Although it is said he was influenced by Poe,
Lovecraft revised what Poe does in his writings. Poe questions the existence of the characters
themselves while Lovecraft deprives the mental wellness of the characters by questioning what their
eyes and ears see or hear.

The Battle Of Gettysburg Battle Analysis
Battle of Gettysburg Battle Analysis It is our duty, as soon to be Second Lieutenants in the Army, to
learn from history. Learning from mistakes in the past is necessary to understand the responsibilities
we will soon have. The Battle of Gettysburg shows prime examples of the nine principles of war:
Objective, Offensive, Mass, Economy of Force, Maneuver, Unity of Command, Security, Surprise and
Simplicity. In the military today, we are overwhelmingly blessed with every asset that we have
including technology and monetary resources the list could go on forever but the most invaluable asset
is history. Although all nine principles of war are pertinent to success on the battlefield, only five will
be discussed in this analysis.
Objective
What a cruel thing is war; to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and
happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our
neighbours, and to devastate the fair face of this beautiful world! I pray that, on this day when only
peace and good will are preached to mankind, better thoughts may fill the hearts of our enemies and
turn them to peace. ... My heart bleeds at the death of every one of our gallant men. (General Robert

Examples Of Respect Parents And Elders
Day 54
I. Revision
Give examples of masculine and feminine gender.
II. Respect your parents and elders
Respect is the greatest gift children can give to their parents and elders. It is not just a responsibility to
give respect but it is a moral value and duty. In order to get some respect we should give respect, and
parents and elders are the ones who deserve most of our respect as they help us in making our life
meaningful.
Together with many lessons in life, learning to respect people is also one the important lesson we learn
as kids.
Respect can be given in many ways. There is no particular way to respect elders and parents. But few
ways in which you can show your respect towards them are:
Never addressing them with their names.

The World Wide Web As A Practitioner s Perspective
According to Mark Pallen, The world wide web is the crowning glory of the internet, providing a
uniform, user friendly interface to the net. The world wide web is the system that connects the internet
together, and therefore connects the entire world. Without the interface of the world wide web, the
internet would simply be a collections of ones and zeros, not the place of communication, learning,
and collaboration it is. The world wide web was the most influential improvement of the 1990s
because it globalized government, business, and the public, therefore connecting all aspects of life for
Americans and people around the world even in modern day.
Modern governments require communication, and the world wide web offers this to countries ... Show

With the possibility for public communication through the world wide web, governments also have to
communicate. This newfound communication between governments, in reality, benefits the people
most. In Geoffrey Garrett s report on Globalization and Government Spending around the World, he
argues that the world wide web helps to maintain honesty in the government and its policies, The
common metaphor of a globalization induced race to the bottom suggests that governments are under
heavy efficiency pressures to reduce their economic policy activism to promote competitiveness and
to keep mobile capital within national borders. Now that citizens have access to an abundance of
information, the world wide web acts as a police to encourage the government to treat its citizens
fairly. For example, in many dictatorships today, certain parts of the internet, if not all, are restricted.
These people do not get to use the internet and the communication that comes with it realize their own
conditions are not just. The world wide web calls these governments to remember that the government
is representing its own citizens, and therefore needs to suit its policies to its people. John H. Dunning
calls forth the idea that globalization, especially thanks to the world wide web, calls governments to
change policies to adapt to this new world in his paper, Governments, Globalization, and International
Business, In doing so they

The Amistad Case
The Amistad Case began in April of 1839 when many Africans, including Cinque were captured and
taken to the Lomboko Slave Fortress. While in the Lomboko Slave Fortress Cinque and many others
were sold and loaded onto the Tecora that was sailing to Cuba. In June 1839, Cinque and the others
arrived in Havana, Cuba where they were sold to Jose Ruiz and Pedro Montes. This is where they
loaded the ship by the name of La Amistad. While out to sea in July Cinque is able to escape his
chains and help the others to lead them in an attack on the ship s crew. The Amistad s captain and cook

The Africans were put on trial for murder and piracy on the Amistad. James Covey, an interpreter, was

imprisonment. Judge Andrew T. Judson presided over this case. Judge Judson reported that the capture
of the Africans and selling them into slavery in Cuba was against the 1817 English Spanish treaty.
Judge Judson then decided that the Mende Africans were transported illegally and were to be set free.
Ruiz and Mendes were taken into custody for misrepresenting the origin of the slaves on the Amistad.
Senator John Calhoun felt that if the Amistad captives are freed the South might have to begin the

Testosterone And Estrogen Research Paper
When an individual comes out as homosexual or bisexual, they most likely hear the words well that s
your choice. But for any one person who actually is homosexual, they know it s not a choice. So what
makes us this way? The answers are small chemicals that control our very lives. These chemicals are
the Androgens, Testosterone and Estrogen.
Testosterone and Estrogen are the male and female hormones that control how either gender develops.
Between weeks 8 and 14 of fetal development, before the fetus s sex is determined, tiny fetal ovaries
(which may turn into testes depending on the chromosome factor) and adrenal glands release the
embryo s own supply of androgens. These chemicals then cause chain reactions in the body, spurring
the growth of the genitals (determined by chromosomes), causing major growth in brain regions and

When we feel attracted to an individual, we like the chemical balance or imbalance they possess.
Sexuality is also controlled by these chemicals. Estrogen and testosterone determine the gender an
individual is attracted to. But of course, there is a significant difference between sex and gender, both
affected by androgens. The gender that a person may feel can be changed by the levels of their
androgens. Their chromosomes may say one gender, but their brain says another. This all boils down to
evolution. Beauty, attraction, and sexuality is all part of Natural Selection. Humans with better genes
appear beautiful, saying I am healthy, I have good genes. However, this is futile, humans are no longer
physically evolving. We are in an age where we should value brains and productivity over beauty and
sex appeal. This is the remnants of the old vomeronasal organ that identifies other pheromones and
hormones in potential partners. These chemicals, among others, control our very

course of events. His journey will compel him to contemplate the veracity of the political foundation
which supports American democracy and confront the corruption which seeks to erode it.

In so doing, Smith stumbles into the movie s central struggle. While directly Capra s film powerfully
illustrates Smith s own intense confrontation with a seemingly omnipotent political machine; his
ultimate victory is a condemnation of all industrial greed as well as a reaffirmation of the power of the
citizen to make an impact in a government that through all its shortcomings is still democracy.
Capra s film is dramatically enhanced by its patriotic representation of our National s capitol, with
particular emphasis on the splendor of the Capitol and strength of the Lincoln Memorial. These
images are constant visual reminders of the freedom and strength of personal choice provided by our
government. The film s score composed of traditional renditions of patriotic melodies including
Yankee Doodle and Auld Lang Syne only reinforces these sentiments. Capra s most dramatic use of
setting is the reconstruction of the Senate chamber, the site for the film s most climactic and inspiring
scene. Unwilling to allow the Senate to vote on his expulsion and empowered with the goal of
uncovering the Willet Dam Project as fraud, Smith skillfully filibusters the Senate in hopes that his
state s populace will come to his support. Despite Taylor s ruthless propaganda, Smith s

The Transference Across The Case Of Dora ( 1905 ) Essay
In this essay we will firstly give a brief outline of what transference is. Then we will discuss the
transference across the case of Dora (1905).
Kahn (1991) claims that according to Freud, when entering therapy, a patient s view of and reaction to
their therapist is influenced by two tendencies. Firstly, the patient will view this relationship in the
light of their earliest relationships, and secondly that they will try and incite replays of early difficult
situations. Jacobs (2010) describes this transference as the repetition by the patient of former, often
child like patterns of relating to significant people, such as parents, but now viewed in relation to the
therapist. The author goes on to claim that the therapist becomes, for the patient, a transference figure
with whom the patient has an opportunity to relive or to find the type of parent child relationship he or
she might have wished for, or even to some extent had.
The transference is a way of seeing past relationships in the context of here and now. Bruce (1956)
states that transference, viewed as the transfer of affect (evoked in the past by people and events) into
the here and now of the analytic setting, means that the analysand must be able to project onto the
analyst a whole series of emotions felt in relation to significant figures from his or her past and present
(Bruce, 1956, P. 40). So, feelings and ideas that the patient may have about the therapist seen in the
transference aspect of their

Proverbs Essay
Proverbs: Choice and Discernment, the Two Ways of Living
In studying the book of Proverbs there is a similar theme of choice and discernment, the teachings of
decision making and the repercussions of your actions. These books are made up of extremes and
polar opposites. The dualisms are the rich and poor, the righteous and the wicked, and the wise and the
foolish. There is advice given and it is up to the judgment of the person to which category they will
fall into. There are two ways of living, and based on the person s discernment and ultimate choice to
which one they will get to live. This paper will focus on Proverbs 10, 12, and 14, Solomon s Proverbs,
to display this theme of choice and discernment. Proverb 10 is an ... Show more content on

The passage is most explicit to what will actually happen if a man chooses the wrong kind of wife. He
will greatly suffer if his judgment was bad on whom to marry, he will experience physical ailments. If
the man uses wisdom in making the decision to marry a capable wife, he will be rewarded for acting
wisely. If you are lazy, you will never get what you are after, but if you work hard, you will get a
fortune (12:27). This passage shows that the repercussions to your decisions can be very bountiful. If
you make the right decision to work hard and not be lazy, you will come into wealth and get what you
are after in life. Retribution is not an entirely satisfactory term, however, for the English word
connotes punishment rather than reward, and immediate rather than gradual consequences . This
passage is showing that there is not just consequences, there are rewards for discernment, and
God/dess will provide those to you. Again, this Proverb is about choosing which way of life suits you;
in all cases, having better judgment and being righteous will always bring you a better life, and be
profitable. Proverb 14 continues to address this dualistic approach on advice. Homes are made by the
wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness (14:1). This passage is very interesting because
Proverbs has been directed mainly to men, and this is telling the men that their women are wise. It
would be foolish to not listen to a woman. Your house is not built with

To What Extent Does Criminal Law Reflect the Moral and...
To what extent does criminal law reflect the moral and ethical standards of society?
Criminal law is a construct of the government, enforced through tangible measures. In a democratic
society, the government is elected by the citizens, and as such, laws are generally conceived with the
aim to reflect whatever ethical or moral standards are presently acceptable. However, in order to be
truly effective, some legislation must circumvent current sociological viewpoints in order to create
laws that are genuinely in the best interests of society. This results in a delicate balancing act, as
lawmakers attempt to weigh the views of the majority against the need for laws to be both reasoned
and objective.
One example of law being a reflection of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The law and legal processes are utilised in various ways in order to provide a fair and just trial process
for the victim and the accused, as well as the general community. There are set standards ensuring that
the trial process is a fair one for all involved, as a functioning, fair and efficient justice system is the
cornerstone of any true democracy.
In most cases, one of the main objectives of courts and the sentences they impose is that of
rehabilitation. This is evidenced through a growing move in favour of a more holistic approach to
justice, trying to address the issues which may have led to the crime, rather than just punishing the end
result. One of the prime examples of this therapeutic approach to justice is the introduction of the
Drug Court. Governed by the Drug Court Act 1998, the Drug court has both Local court and District
court jurisdiction, and seeks to target the causes of drug related criminal behaviour. It achieves this by
ensuring that those who go through it receive treatment for their addictions, thereby reducing their
propensity to reoffend, as many crimes are motivated by the need to satisfy addictions.

Conceptual Analysis Of Public Disclosure Working

5.1 Information Quality
The problem that exists in Pakistan under the current system is the lack of environmental information
that could create a drive towards improvement. There exists the classic principal agent problem with
regulators needing good data about firm s pollution levels, but the firms do not have a medium or
drive of providing such information. This information asymmetry is addressed through introducing
instruments such as the TRI or PROPER, which provides a platform for information collection and
usage. It will indeed incentivise firms an incentive to improve their public image in the cheapest way

disseminated and easily understandable with rankings provided for evaluation of performance.
Although US did not face the same challenge, Indonesia, being a low income country had challenges
to cater the data interpretation problem. PROPER has wisely combined multiple set of environmental
indicators into a color coded scheme through technical support from international agencies such as the
World Bank, to increase public understanding (Kanungo and Torres, n.d.; Ardiansyah, 2014). This
transformation of public environmental communication in Indonesia has proven to be a breakthrough
in its environmental policy and holds a promising example for Pakistan to apply. Raising awareness
through campaigns and disseminating the information to the public using the broad print and
electronic media network will grant easy access and develop public interest to use such information.
Generally, it becomes difficult to identify the source of pollution among various firms gathered in an
industrial area. To quantitatively record such data is challenging, especially for developing economies.
The emission data for TRI is self reported and little is done to check its accuracy. The US easily

Comparison of the Practices and Strategies Utilized in the Korean and Vietnam Wars
Two of the greatest battles which were fought by similar foes were those of the Korean and
Vietnamese wars. Both conflicts involved a communist and capitalist participant(s) which had their
own ideals and reasons for why to include themselves into such conflicts. There are also other
similarities other than the opponents in these wars, such as the military tactics and strategies which
were effectuated during this time. In both cases, the U.S. intervened forcefully introducing large
masses of militia and using a considerable amount of armament, yet on the other hand, their enemies

Likewise, the Vietcong received weapons, supplies, and heavy armaments, such as tanks, from the
Russians and Chinese which made the resistance even greater than the U.S. and its allies forces put
together. This was evidenced clearly during the Korean war when the U.N. and U.S. forces arrived to
Korea and forced the North Korean forces back to the 38th parallel and were even about to take North
Korea as well, but as this was about to occur, the human waves created by the Chinese soldiers were
introduced into Korea, retaking North Korea and forcing the allied forces out of Korea absolutely.
Correspondingly, when the U.S. introduced its forces into Vietnam, the Vietcong received much
support from Russia mainly but also from China, which turned the tide of the encounter and lead the
communist Vietnamese to victory.
On a more detailed level, during the mid of the conflicts, there were also several similar points.
Operations on behalf of the U.S. had similar results, such being the case with Rolling Thunder and
search and destroy tactics during the Vietnam war and the attack on North Korea after having taken
the 38th parallel during the Korean War. In the Korean affair, the U.S. attack seemed to have worked
by obtaining control over South Korea and then trying to take control over North Korea as well, yet
this as mentioned before failed since the Chinese overran all of Korea.

between preserving original, historic buildings, and creating functional additions for them. Additions
play a very important role in structures today; serving to work with what already exists while
accommodating changing functional requirements and aesthetic tastes. They seek to maintain the
original building s character, while becoming compatible with new design. The Vogelstein Center for

Prior to the addition, Ferry House challenged Vassar s preexisting architectural notions, being the first
modern building of its kind. In relation to surrounding buildings, Sanders Physics and Main Building,
Ferry is a misfit. However, upon completion of the Vogelstein addition, this section of campus was
transformed. The dark and light gray striped pattern addition fares well with the white painted brick of
Ferry House. The varying width of these stripes is representative of the contemporary nature the
architect was trying to further, similar to the rectangular shapes present on Ferry. Vogelstein s stark
burnt orange overhang again mirrors the style of Ferry building. The concrete masonry stands out not
only against the façade, but also against Vassar s many other brick buildings. These two adjacent
buildings share a common courtyard, known as the Frances Daly Fergusson Quadrangle, a venue for
outdoor theatrics. This minimalist courtyard serves to create a flow between the two buildings. This

literary journal called The Pioneer, one of them being The Birthmark . Time significantly influenced
Hawthorne in creating this short story (Wheeler). Aylmer, the main character, uses the scientific
experimentation throughout the story to remove the birthmark from his wife s, Georgiana, face which
results in him killing her. The Birthmark has attempting for perfection, the battle between science and
nature, and the earthly love.
Aylmer trying to make everything in his life perfect is the dominant issue. Unfortunately, he killed his
perfect wife due to an imperfection on her face. The potion he created to completely erase her

Everything Aylmer says relates to him striving for perfection.
Even though science is a main theme in The Birthmark , there is a lot having to deal with nature as
well. Aylmer is talented enough to make aromas from scratch; however, he can t make his wife live a
longer life. He believes he has powers from the knowledge of science. Georgiana is the main power of
natural in the story. She is so in love with her husband that she is willing to put nature aside for
science. Georgiana s birthmark has the power of nature to destroy everything who sees it. Aylmer asks
her to pluck a flower and the whole plant suffered a blight, its leaves turning coal black as if by the
agency of fire (220). The beautiful Georgiana tries to get a flawless flower thinks It is magical! cried
Georgiana. I dare not touch it (220); instead she had caused the flower to die. Georgiana s touch was
like the flaw characteristic that all human beings had, but Aylmer wanted nothing less than perfect.
Aylmer states, there was too powerful a stimulus (222), in which he meant that the flaw Georgiana has
caused that. As the flower continues to die, Hawthorne is trying to point out that the perfect flower can
t survive if something imperfect touches it.
Aylmer tries whatever he can to erase Georgiana s birthmark and this makes a person question how
does love play a role in this relationship of he s trying to remove

How Has Technology Helped Communication In The 20th Century
Communication is a major concern back in the old ages, letter was the commonly used medium of it
until telegraph was invented in 1792, and this allowed messages to be delivered over a great distance.
In the late 1800s the radio and the telephone both improved the means of communication, it brought
communication to a higher level. Technology began to change tremendously in the 20th century. With
the first supercomputer in 1940s, professionals began to experiment ways to bridge networks within
these computers and this leads us to the bloom of the Internet Age. In 1969 CompuServe ignited the
Internet age, it was one of the first the commercial Internet Providers in the United States. They used

Oppression Of Women In The Knights s Tale By Chaucer
What is a woman s role in society? Today this question would cause uproar of answers from both
feminists and anti feminists. Despite the disagreement, the most popular response would be, without a
doubt, that women s role in society is equal to men s. Currently, women can vote, hold a stable job,
and lead a successful life without a husband. However, back in medieval times there were no such
luxuries for women. Examples of their treatment can be found in Chaucer s story, The Knights Tale.
From being forced into marriage, to oppression by men, it is clear to see that women were treated as
objects. In the beginning of the story, the Duke of Theseus takes Queen Hippolyta, his future wife, and
her younger sister Emily after the Duke is victorious over the Amazon. The two women are simply
spoils of war for the Duke and the Amazon people. Meanwhile, the Duke of Theseus represents his
traditional gender roles as he is a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaucer shows that women cannot always be won as objects of war. Although the winner of the war is
supposed to win over Emily, Arcite doesn t actually win Emily. Instead, the one that truly loves Emily
wins her. This could be a possible message that love conquers strength and women ultimately conquer
men. Despite some non traditional gender roles, Chaucer still portrays the women as emotional and
weak. They cry over their husbands and cry the most at death. In addition, men are the stronger ones
as they are knights and the ones that are engaged in death and brutality. Chaucer presents most of the
human characters within the rigid gender roles of the time. When he presents the female that has a non
traditional gender role, Venus, she is non human. Perhaps, Chaucer suggests that human gender roles
are hard to break while non human gender roles are easier to break. With that said, the objectification
of women in medieval times is certainly one deserving of

Their explanation was, Errai is Arabic for shepherd, so we chose an Arabic word for sheep, which is herded by the shepherd. For the star Pollux (beta Germinorum), the exoplanet Pollux b is up for naming. One group proposed the name Leda, and said that in Greek mythology, the father of the twins Pollux and Castor is said to be either Zeus or Tyndareus (the king of Sparta) depending on which version you go by. But all versions have Leda as their mother, so it is fitting that the celestial version of Pollux is accompanied by his beautiful mother Leda in an everlasting celestial orbit. • 3. Misrepresentation Of Chinese Culture Nowadays, some chinese culture are misrepresented by people in other countries. In the essay,I will talk about three kinds of misrepresentation of Chinese culture. Due to the movie montage and some exaggerated shooting techniques, some foreigners have a deep misunderstanding of Chinese Kung Fu (like Kung Fu dodge and the internal strength). However, the essence of Chinese martial arts is to move as much in order to keep fit and keep calm. People who practice the martial arts, naturally have more strength and good at fighting. But all these achievements were based on the perennial hard work. It s ridiculous to consider using a few days to learn Chinese Kung Fu. When I talked with my American friends, the most common answers I get are Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Kungfu. Honestly, kung fu is such a mysterious thing to me. The representation of Kung Fu in China has a large difference from those in the US movies. We call it the type of martial arts Wu Shu (Wu refers to martial arts;Shu means a hero). Because I grew up with a lot of martial arts novels, I was glad meet a martial arts artist called Christopher Pei who was the first Kung Fu artist I have ever seen. The first thing master Pei told me was Kung Fu s misunderstanding of martial arts ( martial arts or discipline ,an exhibition of traditional Chinese martial arts and all in one sports.) To be aware of this fact, I felt a bit disappointed. I believe that Kung Fu is a generation after generation of secrets, only in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However the current trend in the baking industry is to use frozen dough to manufacture quality product because it can be quickly transformed into fresh baked product. Main advantages of freezing of dough are reduction of losses caused by aging of products and harmonization of product with the market demands (Dodic et al, 2007). However use of frozen dough has certain disadvantages such as its variable performance and loss of stability over long term frozen storage (Inoue and Bushuk, 1991; Berglund 1988). Both form stable complexes with proteins and other gums. Carrageenan are especially useful in dairy products because they form stabilizing complexes with milk proteins and suspended cocoa powder in milk and give a more acceptable texture to processed cheese and cream. Some microbial gums also find use in foods. Two important ones are dextrans and xanthan gums. Dextran is a polysaccharides consisting of D glucose units. Dextrans of molecular weight below 100,000 are readily soluble in water and are used in many food products. Xanthans are formed by the action of bacterium Xanthomonas compestris on D glucose. Wynand and Toohey s rise to recognition differs greatly as each man s quest for power is obtained from contrasting motives made even more apparent when compared to the character of Howard Roark and his drive towards intangible riches. Its development, derived from early versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women s Basketball (later renamed the International Netball Federation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to increase the game s pace and appeal to a wider audience. Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly played by women. In this short story, it is seen that a development which is meant to enhance the ability of robots to adhere to the Three Laws leads to the opening of a whole new realm of problems. Keith Harriman, director of US Robots, explains that a certain model of robots is being reproduced to have the ability to weigh every human being giving it an order in terms of factors such as age, gender and intelligence (Asimov 1974: 609 610). Understandably, this supposed improvement to the robot is meant to ensure that the robots ability to follow the rules is improved. More specifically, it is meant to strengthen their adherence to the Second Law, which states, A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law (Asimov 1974: page 605). However, in practice, this development would actually break the First Law of Robotics. Keith Harriman states, A robot they say, has no right to brand this person or that person as inferior. By accepting the orders of A in preference to that of B, B is branded as of less consequence than A and his human rights are violated. In Geoffrey Garrett s report on Globalization and Government Spending around the World, he argues that the world wide web helps to maintain honesty in the government and its policies, The common metaphor of a globalization induced race to the bottom suggests that governments are under heavy efficiency pressures to reduce their economic policy activism to promote competitiveness and to keep mobile capital within national borders. Now that citizens have access to an abundance of information, the world wide web acts as a police to encourage the government to treat its citizens fairly. For example, in many dictatorships today, certain parts of the internet, if not all, are restricted. These people do not get to use the internet and the communication that comes with it realize their own conditions are not just. The world wide web calls these governments to remember that the government is representing its own citizens, and therefore needs to suit its policies to its people. John H. Dunning calls forth the idea that globalization, especially thanks to the world wide web, calls governments to change policies to adapt to this new world in his paper, Governments, Globalization, and International Business, In doing so they ... But for any one person who actually is homosexual, they know it s not a choice. So what makes us this way? The answers are small chemicals that control our very lives. These chemicals are the Androgens, Testosterone and Estrogen. Testosterone and Estrogen are the male and female hormones that control how either gender develops. Between weeks 8 and 14 of fetal development, before the fetus s sex is determined, tiny fetal ovaries (which may turn into testes depending on the chromosome factor) and adrenal glands release the embryo s own supply of androgens. Capra s film is dramatically enhanced by its patriotic representation of our National s capitol, with particular emphasis on the splendor of the Capitol and strength of the Lincoln Memorial. These images are constant visual reminders of the freedom and strength of personal choice provided by our government. The film s score composed of traditional renditions of patriotic melodies including Yankee Doodle and Auld Lang Syne only reinforces these sentiments. • 32. The Transference Across The Case Of Dora ( 1905 ) Essay In this essay we will firstly give a brief outline of what transference is. Then we will discuss the transference across the case of Dora (1905). Kahn (1991) claims that according to Freud, when entering therapy, a patient s view of and reaction to their therapist is influenced by two tendencies. Firstly, the patient will view this relationship in the light of their earliest relationships, and secondly that they will try and incite replays of early difficult situations. Jacobs (2010) describes this transference as the repetition by the patient of former, often child like patterns of relating to significant people, such as parents, but now viewed in relation to the therapist. The author goes on to claim that the therapist becomes, for the patient, a transference figure with whom the patient has an opportunity to relive or to find the type of parent child relationship he or she might have wished for, or even to some extent had. The transference is a way of seeing past relationships in the context of here and now. Bruce (1956) states that transference, viewed as the transfer of affect (evoked in the past by people and events) into the here and now of the analytic setting, means that the analysand must be able to project onto the analyst a whole series of emotions felt in relation to significant figures from his or her past and present (Bruce, 1956, P. 40). Proverbs Essay Proverbs: Choice and Discernment, the Two Ways of Living In studying the book of Proverbs there is a similar theme of choice and discernment, the teachings of decision making and the repercussions of your actions. There is advice given and it is up to the judgment of the person to which category they will fall into. There are two ways of living, and based on the person s discernment and ultimate choice to which one they will get to live. The passage is most explicit to what will actually happen if a man chooses the wrong kind of wife. He will greatly suffer if his judgment was bad on whom to marry, he will experience physical ailments. If the man uses wisdom in making the decision to marry a capable wife, he will be rewarded for acting wisely. If you are lazy, you will never get what you are after, but if you work hard, you will get a fortune (12:27). This passage shows that the repercussions to your decisions can be very bountiful. If you make the right decision to work hard and not be lazy, you will come into wealth and get what you are after in life. Retribution is not an entirely satisfactory term, however, for the English word connotes punishment rather than reward, and immediate rather than gradual consequences . This passage is showing that there is not just consequences, there are rewards for discernment, and God/dess will provide those to you. Again, this Proverb is about choosing which way of life suits you; in all cases, having better judgment and being righteous will always bring you a better life, and be profitable. Proverb 14 continues to address this dualistic approach on advice. Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness (14:1). Criminal law is a construct of the government, enforced through tangible measures. In a democratic society, the government is elected by the citizens, and as such, laws are generally conceived with the aim to reflect whatever ethical or moral standards are presently acceptable. However, in order to be truly effective, some legislation must circumvent current sociological viewpoints in order to create laws that are genuinely in the best interests of society. In most cases, one of the main objectives of courts and the sentences they impose is that of rehabilitation. This is evidenced through a growing move in favour of a more holistic approach to justice, trying to address the issues which may have led to the crime, rather than just punishing the end result. One of the prime examples of this therapeutic approach to justice is the introduction of the Drug Court. Governed by the Drug Court Act 1998, the Drug court has both Local court and District court jurisdiction, and seeks to target the causes of drug related criminal behaviour. It achieves this by ensuring that those who go through it receive treatment for their addictions, thereby reducing their propensity to reoffend, as many crimes are motivated by the need to satisfy addictions. ... Despite the disagreement, the most popular response would be, without a doubt, that women s role in society is equal to men s. Currently, women can vote, hold a stable job, and lead a successful life without a husband. However, back in medieval times there were no such luxuries for women. Examples of their treatment can be found in Chaucer s story, The Knights Tale. From being forced into marriage, to oppression by men, it is clear to see that women were treated as objects. In the beginning of the story, the Duke of Theseus takes Queen Hippolyta, his future wife, and her younger sister Emily after the Duke is victorious over the Amazon. They cry over their husbands and cry the most at death. In addition, men are the stronger ones as they are knights and the ones that are engaged in death and brutality. Chaucer presents most of the human characters within the rigid gender roles of the time. When he presents the female that has a non traditional gender role, Venus, she is non human.
