The Process of The Life Cycle of A Star Essay
Professor Lawrence Krauss claims that, In our galaxy, there are over 100 billion stars alone. (
Extreme ). Each one of those stars is a factory which slowly builds the materials for the foundations
of the universe ( Stars ). Stars are as varied as people. While they are all born the same way, they do
not all die the same way. Some stars live fast and die young; others die slowly and quietly (
Extreme ). The life cycle of a staris violent, they churn, pulsate, and sometimes explode, but the
products of its life are invaluable building blocks for the Universe. There is a process to the life
cycle of a star. The birth of a star is a process completely fueled by gravity ( Life ). All stars are
born in something called a nebula, which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The evolution of a star s birth is a slow process. It can take up to fifty million years for a star the
size of our sun to fully mature (Redd). Many stars then go on to live long and brilliant lives,
although not always ( Stars ).
{Two new paragraphs: Main Sequence, and Post Main Sequence evolution) The deaths of stars
come in two varieties. The first variety is that of a slow fading into oblivion. After a long period
of time, all of the hydrogen inside the core of a star will be drained, and the hydrogen fusion
process within the core will cease. This cessation causes the core to begin to fall on itself,
generating heat. Within other stellar layers, there is still sufficient hydrogen to continue fusing
hydrogen into helium. The higher location in which the fusion occurs causes the other layers of
the star to increase in size. The star is now referred to as a red giant ( Stars ). After this stage
occurs and the star reaches the proper density, the helium in the star will begin to be fused into
carbon. This helium burning phase usually lasts about 100 million years ( Life ). Once the
helium fuel source is exhausted, the star will become a red supergiant, which will only live for a
few tens of thousands of years ( Life ). However, as the star expands, it becomes increasingly
unstable. Sudden energy surges rip through the star and start to blow away its

Nine Months Research Paper
Nine months is all it takes to create every single human living on this planet . Nine months and
in that time you turn from something as small as a seed to a newborn baby . During this whole
cycle and amazing journey we are all made to be unique and different from everybody else .
There is only one you in this planet which has characteristics that make you who you are. Some
of these characteristics happen in the womb which can affect your whole life. Situs inverses ,
Ectodermal dysplasia, and Sonic hedgehog are just a few examples of genetic conditions that have
a complete impact on one s life. Situs inversus is a reversal of organs in a humans body. According

This disorder is caused by altered genes. Altered genes can be inherited or normal genes can
change over time. Someone cannot control what type of genes you get and therefore you can t
change who you turn out to be. According to the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia,
more than 180 different types of ectodermal dysplasia exist. Sonic Hedgehog is a protein that plays
a role in cell growth, cell specialization, and shape of physical state. This protein is important in
the embryonic development. Sonic Hedgehog is also involved in a genetic condition called
polydactyly. Polydactyly can be passed down from family to family. This trait involves a genethat
can cause several variations like for example, an extra finger . Having an extra finger can
definitely add to something unique about you. In conclusion, some of us are chosen to be born
with something different from everybody else. Good or bad it can only affect a few people.
Whether it s inherited or caused by your genes this feature gives us a sense of who we are. Not
everyone can say they have mirrored organs or an extra finger. Although we all go through the
same process to be made something along the way can have a huge impact on

Analysis Of Oedipus Rex Bliss

Mr. Myles

Oedipus Rex Bliss in Ignorance One of the most memorable and meaningful Socratic quotes applies
well when in context of Sophocles Theban Trilogy. The unexamined life is not worth living,
proclaims Socrates. He could have meant many things by this statement, and in relation to the play,
the meaning is found to be even more complex. Indeed, the situation of Oedipus, king of Thebes,
the truth of this statement is in question. Would Oedipus have been better off if he was blind to
the knowledge of his birthing and the fate that was foretold to someday befall him? Truly though,
his life would have been a far better and easier path had he never known about his true origins. ...

Oedipus, up to the point in which he heard the comment in the tavern in Corinth, lived an
unexamined life. To Socrates, he was an unfulfilled man, one who deserved to know more, one
who not complete. However, in a much less metaphysical sense, Oedipus life was complete, in
that he had all that he needed, and was living a happy and fruitful life. As the drama progresses,
he finds out more and more, learning exactly what the implications of his birth was, he suffers
the fate for examining his life. So what Socrates had meant, that the life which was not rich with
self exploration and reflection was not worth living, was indeed different than its application in
terms of Oedipus, who s life was unexamined, yet complete (214). The question arises, what
would life have been like, if Oedipus had not discovered his true origins? If he had stayed in
Corinth, would this have ever happened? We find that indeed, we would have had no story, if not
for that lone comment of a drunkard that sparked the fire of rebellion in the young prince
Oedipus.(Chen) He ventured out to Delphi, to pry knowledge of his background out of it, and to
discover if this was indeed the truth, despite the fact that his adopted parents of Corinth had assured
him of it falseness. Oedipus leaves Corinth, fulfilling the Socratic idea of the unexamined life.
However, we must evaluate the eventual consequences of his actions and the

Dealing With and Conquering Grief in Banana Yoshimoto s...
Dealing With and Conquering Grief
Following the loss of a loved person, a person usually begins a period where they grieve over the
loss of that person. While grieving, a person usually has a hard time accepting that a beloved
person is truly gone. A personal activity is usually apparent during this time, and while this activity
is usually connected to the person that they have lose, it helps a person deal with the tragedy that
has fallen upon them. This idea is apparent in the stories Kitchen and Moonlight Shadow , both of
which written by Banana Yoshimoto. Throughout both Kitchen and Moonlight Shadow , it is clear
that grief is the stage when an individual is in denial over a beloved persons, and while there are
a number of different ways in order to cope with the grief, the only way to overcome grief for
good is by accepting the fact that the individual who passed away is gone. Perhaps the most
prominent example of this idea occurs during Kitchen, following the death of Mikage s
grandmother. Following the death of her grandmother, Mikage spends a large amount of time in
her kitchen, where she feels most comfortable. Mikage states that after her grandmother s death,
the hum of the refrigerator kept me from thinking of my loneliness (6). In order to help comfort
herself after losing a close relative, Mikage decides to stay in the kitchen, where she feels most
comfortable as it is the place in her home that provides her with fond memories of her

Effects Of Production Stoppage On Ford Motor s Single...
Risk #1: Losses caused by production stoppage in Ford Motor s single source suppliers Risk
Description Although single sourcing can create an efficient, low cost supply chain model for
many top manufacturers like Ford, dependence on a single source can also end up being quite
costly for a company. If one of Ford s single suppliers halts production on any key component for
any reason, there will be adverse effects. As Ford reported in their 2014 annual 10 K filing, many
of the components in their vehicles cannot be re sourced quickly or inexpensively to another
supplier because of long lead times and new contractual arrangements that the new supplier must
follow (Ford Motor Co.). Ford has had complications with this particular risk in the past. In 1998,
faulty software in a German supplier of door and trunk latches halted production in several of their
factories. After a three day halt in Ford Fiestas and Pumas, it is estimated that the difficulties cost
Ford up to 7,000 vehicles (Professional Engineering). Another example of the severity of the risk
occurred several months prior to the 1998 Ford incident. Week long national strikes in Denmark
froze Saab s supplier production of key engine parts. The halt in production left Saab without engine
mounts for its newly launched vehicles. Ultimately, 4,250 factory workers were sent home at an
approximate cost of $90,000,000 (inflation adjusted) (Professional Engineering). This has been a
recurring problem in large manufacturers

improve work flow (Business Dictionary, 2012).
A lot of the work will consist of analyzing, testing, and modifying. This is why a CPAF contract
was used instead of a fixed cost contract because it is difficult to predict actual costs. A company
would put themselves in a bad situation to have a fixed cost contract if the costs where more
than the contracted amount (Murphy, 2009, pp. 24 7). As with any project, there will always be
costs or expenses associated. The type of expenses will always depend on the type of work or
project. Some expenses that will be associated with this contract are direct and indirect costs.
Direct costs are costs that can be totally identified with or traced back to a particular product or
service. Those costs are materials, labor, or expenses related to producing the product or service.
Indirect costs are not easily traced back to a particular product or service, or can be involved with
other products or services in the same time period. Booz Allen provides services so they will never

The Role Of Sports In Society
Sports is language, tradition, and community. From the late nineteenth century to present day,
college and professional sports have helped build communities and help mold the American identity
on the bare ground level. These pastimes make society peaceful, socially cohesive, and more equal.
Throughout American history, sports have played a role in economic development, having
sociological impacts in different regions and have also influenced politics.
Professional and amateur sports have built regional fandoms across North America. The fans of
all ethnicities and races come together and unite to support their team whether its Football
Sunday or NBA Saturday . Sports enhance our understanding of the gender roles and socio
economic issues that help frame identity in every community (What Is the Role of Sports in
Society?). More than three fifths of adults in the general population are involved in sports related
activities. Additionally, one quarter are actively engaged in a sport as participants, parents of
children in a sport, coaches, or volunteers (Boxill et al 10). One s favored team provides a link to
overall social structure and a feel of togetherness This creates a network of relationships throughout
a community that connects one person to another through sports. Engagement rates of sports are
highest among men and high income households(Boxill et al 10). As reflected in America s
society, men are the dominant group in sports as they are most likely the coaches of

Primo Survival In Auschwitz Analysis
Imagine being taken from your home, and being stripped of all possessions including your
name. In the novel Survival in Auschwitz, a man named Primo tells his story about being a Jew
during the Holocaust. He starts the novel when he was found after hiding for some time, and
describes his day to day life until he is liberated. As the book goes on there are many examples of
the brutal treatment and dehumanization of the Jews that the Nazis were a part of on a day to
day basis. Right away at the start of the book Primo is taken from his hiding place and is forced
to go to a concentration camp (Levi 14). They are transported in small train cars and do not get

Analysis Of The Details Of Why Nice Guys Finish Last By...
Rozik Jemyan
Philosophy 101
Monday Night
Upon reviewing the details of Why Nice Guys Finish Last, the author Julia Serano emphasizes
that with society being the way it is, men tend to become bad boys because society and culture is
brought up to believe that the way to win a womans heart and attention is by being sexually
aggressive. Julia Serano argues that in order to recognize rape culture, we must first learn to
understand the predator / prey mindset. In this essay, I will argue that in order to neutralize the
predator / prey mindset, society needs to stop looking at women as the prey and the men as the
predators. I believe that if society learns how to overlook men as being hunters and women as the
prey, that would make the amount of rape occurrences drop massively.
In my past experiences I have ubiquitously heard throughout my life: Nice guys finish last. Women
don t want a man that is sweet and sensitive because it is a speculation that all women want a real
man. The comprehension of a real man in this society is taught to be someone who is dominant,
someone who leads and takes control. Nice guys continuously get turned down by women because
women are accustomed to see the sympathetic man as being unnatural and bizarre. In my opinion,
dominance and sexual aggression are the key ingredients in capturing a woman s attention. Womens
brains are stimulated automatically to set one s sights on a man who can protect them. Which is
why they fall towards the sexual

U.s. Drug Policy Critique Essay
U.S. Drug Policy Critique Drug Policy in the United States began under the Presidency of
Richard M. Nixon, who launched the War on Drugs and oversaw the creation of the Drug
Enforcement Agency (DEA). The sole purpose of both initiatives was to combat the copious
amounts of drugs flowing out of our borders. Then First Lady Nancy Reagan, who will go down
in history as the greatest First Lady of All Time, launched Just Say No . A campaign aimed
towards the youth to refuse the vices of drugand alcohol abuse. These policies were perpetuated in
the 1990s under the Clinton Administration who passed their own tough on crime initiatives as
well. The upside, the implementation of these policies has caused the drug use rates to equal where
they were 25 years ago. On the downside, the United Statesimprisons more people than any other
industrialized nation in the world because of the drug offenses. The War on Drugs, as mentioned
above, has driven mass incarcerations in the U.S. Judicial Systems. In 2014 there were 1.5
million drug arrests in the United States (Rothwell). Statistically speaking eight in ten of these
were for possession only. Today more than 50 percent of people in federal prisons are incarcerated
for drug violations (Rothwell). The main catalyst in new prison admissions has been drug law
violations. A study released by the Brookings Institution found that between 1993 and 2009 there
were more than 3 million admissions to prison for drug offenses in the United

problems are defined as being, Some aspect of society that concerns people and would like to be

On The Rainy River Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetorical Analysis Paper
The relationship you have with others often has a direct effect on the basis of your very own
personal identity. In the essay On The Rainy River, the author Tim O Brien tells about his
experiences and how his relationship with a single person had affected his life so dramatically.
It is hard for anyone to rely fully on their own personal experiences when there are so many other
people out there with different experiences of their own. Sometimes it takes the experiences and
knowledge of others to help you learn and build from them to help form your own personal
identity. In the essay, O Brien speaks about his experiences with a man by the name of Elroy
Berdahl, the owner of the fishing lodges that O Brien stays on while on how journey to find
himself. The experiences O Brien has while there helps him to open his mind and realize what his
true personal identity was. It gives you a sense than our own personal identities are built on the
relationships we have with others. There are many influences out there such as our family and
friends. Sometimes even groups of people such as others of our nationality and religion have a
space in building our personal identities.
In the essay O Brien is faced with a conflict, a moral dilemma. He had to decide whether he was
either going to go to the war and fight or was he going to run away and avoid the draft. The
relationship he had with Berdahl was not of friends or even regular acquaintances. Rather they
were perfect strangers. That goes to show you that anyone can be a major influence on your life.
Berdahl helped to open O Brien s heart. He realized who he was and where he had come from, his
past and what he has been through. How all the events of the past helped him to become the person
he was right now. How his past helped form his personal identity.
The formation of our own personal identities often begins at birth. As you grow up, your parents
are a major influence on you. They teach you many things and help to shape your personal identity.
They teach you the basics, from knowing right from wrong with your basic moral values. Your
moral values are often built upon the basic morals your parents have and what they have taught you
in return.

Night By Elie Wiesel
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change
anything. George Bernard Shaw. George Shaw s famous quote describes that to achieve, you
must change yourself. On May 1944, Elie Wiesel and his family were forced out from his home
in Sighet, Romania to live in Auschwitz, Germany. He and his two older sisters survived the
holocaust, Elie then wrote his experience in 1960. During the span of the book, Night by Elie
Wiesel, the novel demonstrates that traumatic events can change a person drastically. In the
beginning, Elie lived with his family in Germany, his mother, his father, and his three siblings.
The Germans forced the Jews to hand over their valuables, live in ghettos and finally moving
them to concentration camps, including Elie s family. He was disunited from his mother and
three siblings, but managed to stay with his father. At first when he entered the camp he was
pessimistic and discouraged when he saw the townspeople crying including his father. After, Elie
then learned to take care of himself and his father during tragic events, he stuck to his ambitions
and values which led him to go through many obstacles , despite the limitations, and be free of
the camp of Auschwitz. As he set out Eliezer was an immature and carefree 15 year old who
developed into a responsible young adult. Before Ellie was taken away from Sighet to Auschwitz,
he was an inquisitive adolescent interested in biblical studies. As stated One

Impact On Modern Technology
In the past few decades, there has been a huge revolution in an internet and communication
technologies. Technology has brought so many changes in today s society. People interact,
exchange information, and socialize in a whole new way that was not even possible thirty years
ago. According to a Forbes article, iPhoneX and Apple Watch: How Apple s Vision Will Further

of people s lives by the most advanced security function. Recently, Tim Cook, Apple s CEO, has
launched a new iPhone on their 10th year anniversary, since it launched its first iPhone, as called

led to complications, it is actually reasonable to say that modern technology has very much
improved the quality of people s lives.
The most interesting idea in Evans article is that the Face ID, facial recognition, will replace the
Touch ID in the previous edition of iPhone. This new technology will leverages machine

The Dark Side of Judge Pyncheon in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Novel, The House of the Seven Gables
People in society live in a masquerade. Everyone wears a decoratively adorned mask that displays
beauty, purity, and service. However, behind the mask lies on the inside of all society. One will
stop at nothing in order to be well liked, thus becoming hypocrites. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel,
The House of the Seven Gables, the narrator uses intense diction, a vivid selection of detail, and a

Pyncheon is always aware of his form as well as his appearance towards others like broad
benevolence, and a scrupulous attention to the rich and poor. The narrator suddenly transitions
from Judge Pyncheon s admirably arranged life to his early and reckless youth. Nathaniel
Hawthorne ultimately describes Pyncheon s looking glass image, his party mask. This hard, cold
man can only be brought down by the public loss of interest in him. The intensity of the narrator s
diction makes the Judge s contrasting inner and outer characters obvious and blatant.
A vivid selection of detail provides perfect evidence to Judge Pyncheon s unsightly hypocrisy.
Hawthorne pays close attention to Pyncheon s work life, social world, and conspicuous
appearances. At the same time, he elaborates on his wonderful involvement, his pursuing work
ethic, and his superb manner and attire towards others. However, it is not the superficial attributes
that Hawthorne pays attention to... it is the subliminal side of the Judge that he disregards. What
does Judge Pyncheon do in his leisure time when the public eye is not trampling in his world?
The Judge s splendid rubbish is only a mere reflection he wants society to witness. Because of the
narrator s selection of detail, Judge Pyncheon s secret existence soars to the surface.
A shocking and disappointing tone exposes Judge Pyncheon s active and subtle conscience.

How Did Immigration And Immigration In The 19th Century
The United States immigration and emigration is directly linked with the railroads construction
history of the 19th century. The construction of the railroads that facilitated western expansion
Immigrants were not only integral to part of the expansion, but they also used the railroad to
migrate west and form new immigrant States in the territory. In the early 19 century, United States
expanded westward, across the Mississippi River and later to the Pacific Ocean. These western
lands, either was purchased, won in battles, or seized outright from Indian tribes and other nations.
For many years migrants came in search of wealth and better opportunities and very often clashed
either with Mexicans or Indians who defended their homeland and traditions. From the Louisiana
Purchase of 1803 through the migration that resulted from the Transcontinental Railroad and the
Homestead Act. Americans engaged in what Theodore Roosevelt termed the Great Leap Westward.
(Historynet.com). The settlers were motivated to expand to the west after Meriwether Lewis and
William Clark led the expedition (1804 to 1806) through the Louisiana purchase territory that was
acquired from France in 1803. Their mission was assigned by President Thomas Jefferson with the
intention to assess the land s resources, make diplomatic contact with the Indians, and search for
the Northwest Passage, a route to the Pacific Ocean.

lesson plans daily, so it is extremely important that this is a skill that I continue to work on. Along
with this, it was exciting to see how you can have technology incorporated into almost any Iowa
Core standard. Another reason I enjoyed this assignment was because it put me into my future
position, one that I am really looking forward to. For example, because I hope to someday teach
kindergarten, I chose a kindergarten standard about geometry for my lesson.
From there, I was able to create a student project with technology, worksheets, checklists, and a
rubric. It was almost as if I was already in my future position.
Another highlight from CI 201 was video chatting with Carrie. It was amazing to see how
someone in the field of technology does their job on a daily basis, and get real time situations. With
talking to Carrie came learning about self paced math. This is a topic that I hadn t heard about
before coming into CI 201, but is extremely interesting to me. For self paced math, students learn
math from videos according to what level they are at. This guarantees that no student is farther
ahead

Why Didn t Noah Swat those Two Mosquitoes
Why Didn t Noah Swat Those Two Mosquitoes?
We all know how Noah was instructed by God to make an ark, and fill it with two of every sort
of living thing, and gather food for them (Genesis 6:11 22) but if you are lying in a hospital bed
waiting for the nurse to stick the big, gleaming needle in your vein for the nth time, you will
definitely want those pesky blood sucking parasites dead!
World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Health Day on 7th April each year and the
theme for 2014 was, Vector borne diseases under the banner Small Bite Big Threat .Vector borne
diseases account for 17% of the estimated global burden of all infectious diseases!
Imagine Mr. X, a resident of Mumbai who is suffering from high fever, severe headache (behind the
eyes), and nausea and vomiting. He also complains of excruciating joint pain. He has started to
develop a petechial rash. Mr. X goes to his physician who orders some blood tests. His CBC shows
decreased platelets and NS 1 antigen test is positive. What am I talking about? You guessed it right!
DENGUE!
Why talk about dengue? WHO says the world s fastest growing vector borne disease is dengue,
with a 30 fold increase in disease incidence over the last 50 years. The Centre for Disease Control
(CDC) states with more than one third of the world s population living in areas at risk for
infection, dengue virus is a leading cause of illness and death in the tropics and subtropics. As

Database Xml And Resource Description Framework ( Rdf )
A triplestore is a non relational database that stores and retrieves triples using semantic queries.
Triples store data and are imported and exported using the Resource Description Framework
(RDF). A triple is a data entity comprising three components a subject, predicate and object that
describe a set of data such as We have shoes . The subject is We , the predicate is have and the
object is shoes . Triples provide an easy and flexible way of modeling data that is similar to how the
human brain functions. Triples have a semantic structure that can easily represent connections
between structured data and free flowing text. Triples form interconnected data networks (graphs),
which are easy to read and can represent complex data structures.
Information is stored in a triplestore and retrieved using a database query language called SPARQL.
SPARQL is a query language for RDF data. It is a basic method for querying remote databases
over HTTP. SPARQL can perform graph pattern matching queries and allows users to specify types
of accessibility and navigational queries (the shortest distance between two nodes or how two
nodes are connected) in triplestores. SPARQL generates powerful queries and reasons intuitively on
the data in a triplestore. This also allows computers to reason intuitively on data.
The information in triplestores can be stored, accessed and manipulated much easier versus using a
relational database exponentially expanding data management and storage

Speech On Becoming A Firefighter
Becoming a firefighter requires specific qualities such as strength, endurance, and bravery.
Those who inspire to become a firefighter must devote their time and well being to those in crisis.
A firefighter does not just hang around the station all day, instead you will have to field many
calls. When you are not working you will have to be helping out around the station. The station
does not just stay clean itself you will be assigned chores and duties you will have to follow. Being
in physical shape is also a main part of being a firefighter.
Now there is also types of fires firefighters need to know about. The first type of fire there is class A
fire. A class A fire are the most ordinary and basic type of fire. They are ordinary combustible fires
like wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics. Class B fires are caused by flammable liquids.
Flammable liquids for example are things like gasoline, petroleum oil, and paint. Class B fires
also include flammable gases. The gases that are in class B are things like propane and butane.
Some people might mistake fires caused by cooking oils and grease as a class B but that is not
true at all they are not considered in the category. Class C fires involve electrical equipment.
Electrical equipment such as motors not just car motors, transformers, and appliances. If you
remove the power from any of the things listed it will no longer be able to be consider as a class C
fire it will get reclassified as a different group of fire class.

Factors Of Production Impact The Fabrication Of...
Factors of Production:
Factors of production impact the fabrication of commodities. These factors are the inputs for the
creation of goods and services applied to make an economic profit (Investopedia, n.d), and fall
within four categories land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship (Nickolas, 2015). Understand ing
these inputs is paramount as incremental changes in a cost structure can determine a profit and a
loss (Mohr, n.d.).
For Johnson Johnson (J J), the three key factors are land, labor, and entrepreneurship. Land is the
economic resource encompassing natural resources found within a nation s economy (Vitez, n.d.).
Natural resources do not turn themselves into products; labor is required. Labor is the available
human capital which converts raw or natural resources into consumer goods (Vitez, n.d.). Except
for the entrepreneur, all work performed at organizational levels signify labor (In vestopedia, n.d).
Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, involves the managerial tasks of assem bling, allotting and
dispensing economic resources or consumer products to individuals and other businesses (Vitez,
n.d.). Furthermore, entrepreneurship includes the furthering new engagement and experimentation
methods, which may lead to more revenue (Miller, 2016).
Costs:
It is no secret that to create a product, there are costs. A company s costs govern its product prices.
Artificial hip implant costs range from $1,797 to $12,093 (Robinson et al, 2012). As such, this

Examples Of Associative Learning
Learning: learning is a mandatory skill that is needed for every single person in the world. No one
simply just knows something right off the bat, everything must be learned. They re many types of
learning techniques; each person has their own learning style. Accordingly, there are three main
learning types; audible ( hearing), visual, and kinesthetic ( hands on ). Not every skill is learned in
the classroom, some skills are just acquired through life s experiences. There are many theories
concerning the matter of learning; this essay will discuss two very popular theories, Observational

Therefore It is very prominent in society. Associative learning in general encompasses many
forms of learning including observational. Because of the vast amount of possible examples of
associative learning, this essay will present the experiment of Ivan Pavlov and John B. Watson.
While this experiment is specifically an example of classical conditioning, like the observational
theory, associative learning encompesses many other theories such as classical conditioning.
Here is the experiment of Ivan pavlov and his dogs. Pavlov, a physiologist ( not a physcologist )
was conducting an experiment involving dogs and their digestive system. Because he was
interested in the digestive system, he implanted tubes within his s dogs mouths to collect saliva.
After the dogs ate food he would measure the amount of saliva secreted. He discovered that the
dogs did not only salivated to the taste of food but to the sight of food,an empty bowl, and even
to the sound of footsteps of the lab assistants bringing them food. Pavlov was interested by this;
so he took it farther. Because he knew that dogs salivate to food,In his next experiment he rang a
bell right before giving the dogs food. He repeated this for a while. Consequently the dogs
learned to associate the ringing of a bell with food and as a result the dogs would salivate. In other
words the dogs learned to associate the ringing of a bell to food and as a result they would salivate.
Pavlov concluded that after exposure to a unconditioned stimulus plus a neutral stimulus you could

The Devastating Effects of Pollution In the Arctic One man s trash is another man s treasure as the
old adage goes, but what about when one man s trash is another species pandemic. Pollution has
been plaguing humans for centuries, and as a result, the accumulation of this garbage has begun to
significantly affect populations other than human beings. A striking example of this is found in
Arctic Polar bearpopulations which as of recently are beginning to display some eerie side
effects. Most individuals tend not to think about where their trash goes the second it leaves their
hands, but it has to go somewhere. This somewhere is often times the ocean where the trash
congregates and migrates around the world where it is consumed by the various species which
dwell in its depths. The concentration of these toxins builds slowly within the various species that
are exposed to it. Consequently, these concentrations increase as one moves up the food web, and
at the top of the Arctic food web sits the beloved polar bearwhich bears the brunt of these ever

The Confession By Leo Tolstoy
Leo Tolstoy The Confession Many people find themselves in a mid life crisis when they reflect
on what is the real meaning of human life. Leo Tolstoy wrote his literal interpretation of God s
teachings. Towards his golden years, the writer rejected privileges and wealth and became a
wandering ascetic. At the height of his career, he encountered a midlife crisis which
revolutionized his views towards life. Tolstoy said that he considered ending his life since he no
longer understood the meaning of it. He wrote a publication in 1882 concerning his crisis in a
short piece called A Confession, and published it in 1884. The renowned writer was one of the
critical thinkers to raise a question concerning the true meaning of what is life before by any writer

and trusting in God is the only thing that can enable humans to escape the spector of
meaninglessness. Faith in afterlife and God of theism establishes ground that justice will
ultimately be served. Having belief in God develops the assertion that all things happening in
ones life, good or bad happen for a reason. If one person be good, good things will happen to you,
and if one person be bad, bad things will happen to you. People who believe or have faith in God
are certain that judgement day will come and every person will receive the judgement he or she

monitor. This works because of the electromagnetic interference caused by your hand. This happens
when you move your hand near or close to the screen.
In addition the LCD computer monitor is in fact soldered. One of the components that is
soldered is the capacitors. Another thing that is soldered is some of the copper wires. There are
nine compartments inside an LCD monitor. It has two polarized filters one on top and one on
the bottom. In the center of these two filter is were the LC remains. On top and bellow the LC is

lower filter is the back light/mirror. Then to finish it off there is either a red, blue or green film,
which can be adjusted to a certain brightness. On the back of all of this is where the wires are
connected to the battery and supply voltage. In conclusion Liquid Crystal Display is now a million

Pope Boniface Viii s Challenges To The King
Pope Boniface VIII s Challenges to the Kingship of Philip s
Pope Boniface VIII wrote the bulls, Clericis Laicos in 1296 and Unam Sanctam in 1302, to affirm
and perform the papal supremacy over his ecclesiastical persons and the kings, Philip IV of France
and Edward I of England. Both bulls consist of the decrees that restrain the rulers from enforcing
their derogatory authority over Christians: one forbids prelates and churchmen to pay the tax that
laymen heavily imposed on them: the latter one demands suspected clergies under the papal
jurisdiction, furthermore insisting the pope s total authority over his churchmen in France. Philip
had knocked off Clericis Laicos by depriving Boniface of a major revenue source, yet the pope again
threw down the gauntlet against the rulers with the new threat of excommunication. Although both

According to Clericis Laicos , Boniface criticized and opposed to Philip for his unethical scheme
to take over the churchmen s possession to continue his dishonest war with England. Since Philip
needed a tremendous amount of money to prepare for the war, he overtaxed his people including
clergies without any exception. However, Boniface considered Philip s preparation of the war as a
plot to pursue his power over the church s possessions. Therefore, he denounced the king s
overtaxation on the churchmen as though he suspected the king of striving to subject the
churchmen to slavery and bring them under his control. (Robinson) However, Boniface mildly
reacted to the heavy taxation on the clergies in which he merely forbade them to pay their tax
rather than directly objecting to the king. With indignation toward Boniface s reaction, Philip
threatened to jolt Apostolic Palace in an economical way. Therefore, it was inevitable for him to
withdraw his hand from Clericis

In the first period I got in deep on several shots but he was able to get out of bounds and cause us

Usually I would choose to defer to the second period but since it was 0 0, I chose bottom position.
In the event of sudden death overtime the wrestler who scored first gets to choose whether they
want to be on top or bottom position. The first overtime would be one minute in the neutral
position and if no one scored then it would be two 30 second periods with each wrestler getting a
chance at top and bottom position. If it s still tied after that we would go to a 30 second sudden
death victory in referee s position, which is the starting position with one wrestler on top and the
other on bottom. An escape is more likely than turning and getting back points so that s why I
chose to take bottom in the second period.

wrestling club I went to, DC Elite, taught me to be an expert at takedowns and escapes. Becoming

Environmental Sanctions And Safety Standards
Introduction
Coal is king. The coal industry controls the economy of states, and states rely on it for electricity.
However, many families involved in the industry of coal are experiencing profound economic
difficulty. This must be resolved to improve the economic disparity in West Virginia, a state known
for a large coal mining industry. Many mining families experience this economic difficulty,
particularly due to health risks and job situations.
Much research has been done into the effects of a large coal industry. In just the past twenty years,
air pollution from coal plants have shortened the lives of more than half a million Americans. (Jeff
Goodell, 2006). Mining kills; and it even affects those uninvolved in the production of it. There are
a vast amount of environmental sanctions and safety standards in mines. These are laws and
regulations meant to protect the population, yet most do not follow them correctly. Companies
must pay for all of this, however paying for regulations cuts into profit margins. These companies
manage to still make profit by shutting down deficit mines, but mainly make up costs by laying off
employees. This process results in a never ending cycle of downtrodden individuals trying to make
ends meet. Mining is a neutral party, it has negatives and positives, both of which impact the
Appalachia community significantly.
Mining has a vast assortment of negatives that are constantly being discussed. Mining can damage

Letters from a Birmingham Jail Essay
Letters from a Birmingham Jail
Aristotle is a very citable man when it comes to the way we think today. His rhetoric techniques
are still being used in today s society. The Neo Aristotelian Criticism is three different appeals of
persuasion. This is ethos, pathos and logos, which makes one heck of a convincing argument. Ethos
gives credibility, pathos shows emotion and logos uses words. In the text, Letter from Birmingham
Jail, we find many examples of the criticism. Martin Luther King Jr. is writing a letter from inside
the jail of Birmingham in April of 1963. This letter King wrote was in response to a letter he
received from the religious leaders after King is making a stand against the racial issues in
Alabama. These leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
has a sense of right and wrong under a religious point of view. King goes on to talk about how this
affiliation is across the south and this goes to show the ethics, because these eighty five groups
who believe the same thing, can t be wrong for what they believe in.
On the fifth page of the text, King gives an example of Adolf Hitler and what he did was legal in
Germany. Hitler was the maker of his own rules for his country, and due to his status didn t
make his actions correct. At that time I m sure there were those who came against Hitler and
were punished for it, just as King was being punished for his stand. Ethics is based on societies
views as right and wrong, not on what is written down in black and white. Today as we look at
history we see that Hitler was wrong for what did, and we see King was right for wanting a better
nation for everyone including African Americans.
Top of the seventh page is another great example of ethos in this letter. Martin Luther King Jr.
makes reference to Jesus, Amos, Paul, Martin Luther, John Bunyan, Abraham Lincoln and
Thomas Jefferson for all being an extremist. King views himself as an extremist for equality. I
think King first makes note of naming Jesus to refer back to the bases of the clergymen s

The Romantic Imagination (2103 QCM)
Semester 2, 2012
Convenor Mr.Stephen Emmerson
The role of women in the musical life of the 19th century.
Due: 4 October 2012
The 19th century was an era of change. There were lots of progression in technology, science, and
philosophy that gradually turned European society away from the past centuries. Women s status in
the 19th century Europe also changed. Many of the 19th century women were able to have a
profession as they received higher and wider education, and also allowed to have more
participation in society. In the musical life of 19th century Europe, numbers of women were able to
perform and compose as good and men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The style of Felix and Fanny was very similar, mainly because they studied with the same teacher,
and grew up in the same environment. Moreover, they often exchanged musical opinions, and
critiqued each other s music when they grew up. Many historians say that Fanny was inspired by
Felix, but some of their works show that they were inspired by each others. Between November
1839 to May 1840 Fanny was traveling in Italy. A year later she composed Il Saltarello romano, a
piano piece which was inspired by her traveling experience. However, it contains a rhythmic
pattern, and a motif which is reminiscent of the last movement of Felix s Italian Symphony,
composed in 1833. Therefore, it is possible that Fanny was also inspired by her brother s
symphony (Cooper amp; Prandi, 2002). On the other hand, Felix s Andante in G major Op.62
No.1 from Songs Without Words Book 5 composed in 1844 is very similar to Fanny s Andante in
G major Op.2 No.1 composed in 1836. These two Andante have very similar openings which
consisted of an anacrusis followed by a dominant seventh, then resolved down. Moreover, it is
obvious that Felix s Andante has a similar melodic structure to Fanny s. Even through the
Mendelssohn sibling s composition style were very similar, there are some characteristic in Fanny s
composition which are different from her brother s.
Fanny s style of composition is considered not as expressive as Felix s, but it is much

Design issues As like any other building the design of the Empire State building is prone to bad
design. A bad design could pose a major risk as any miscalculation or oversight would mean that
its structure may not be able to handle the stress and enormous loads. Design may show low
probability but will have very high impact if the building comes crashing down. The Empire
State Building was the first commercial construction project to employ the technique of fast track
construction, a commonplace approach today but very new in the early 20th Century. This
technique consists of starting the construction process before the designs are fully completed in
order to reduce delays and inflation costs. In this case, it was imperative to use the fast track
construction method to win the race for the tallest building (2). Force majeure By definition,
force majeure is a superior force , also known as cas fortuit (French) or casus fortuitus (Latin)
chance occurrence, unavoidable accident (11). Force majeure may be repeated heavy hail, or an
earthquake, or a hurricane. The building is intended to stand for some years should be able to meet
these challenges. A flexible structure may avoid destruction in an earthquake, while a more solid
building with good masonry would be destroyed. Earthquakes can also result in foundation
problems when moist filled land liquefies (13). The Empire State

What Are The Causes Of Squash A Rebellion In Ww1
It took the entire power of the British military to stop a rebellion that was going on however they
were put into a situation that they were just not used to doing. Though they were a powerful
military everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages that made the war hard for them
to fight. That being said this is one of the biggest showings of people who did not follow their
original orders. it seemed like no matter what orders were given even if they were by a
commanding officer or the King himself they were not purposely ignored but Just not listened to.
It seemed like everyone wanted to do their own thing which was the reason that no one could
really squash the rebellion. If orders were followed and officers took advice given they most... Show

This became the biggest downfall that the British could have had. If they wanted to stop the
rebellion they should have done so and not done so many parties and galas. Fighting till the very
end with every man you can is how you win not being gentlemanly cordial and nice. At the end if
their is the ability you fix how the people see you but the british showed a weakness in this book
and the rebels capitalized on it. They would not and did not stop until the Americas and Canada
was free. It seemed that when they were fighting the Rebels the British just did not think that
this was a real effort so they forgot all the things that they usually did. This seems that there was
no one to really blame but themselves. When they seemed to finally understand that this was a
real war it was to late for them and the French were already joining the war against the British
and it was to late for the British to kick it into high gear. If the British understood that this was a
battle and just crushed it instead of run around chasing things that were hard to capture. It seemed
like in the end they were just chasing behind instead of trying to tactically cut off so they could
win and bring the colonies back into the empire. Though they had good generals and commanders
who could win battle but they did not do anything unless their regiments had everything they
wanted but this was war and not everything is easy. In the end it was a lack of strategy and the
want for a more gentlemanly fighting style seemed to be what made the British lose America.
Though they did lose the colonies trade did start back up with them in place of the East India Trade
Company which sent supplies both ways and both the colonies and Britain

Essay on the African American Dream in Song of Solomon
The African American Dream in Song of Solomon
Like most Americans, African Americans have developed variations of the American Dream. Many
African Americans find that their dream differs from the traditional American dream in that there is
no immediate success. Sometimes the dream consists of equality via liberty or literacy, while at
other times it is a simple desire to know self through historical connection.
In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, Milkmanwas literate and had many options for further
education, if so desired. Milkman was apathetic toward education and work. In fact, he was not sure
what he wanted from life. Initially, he thought the best thing for his life was to leave his family and
home. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As his father unfolds his version, Milkman feels that the only reason Macon shares is to motivate
Milkman to locate the gold.
Besides his father s and Pilate s insufficient and distorted knowledge of the past, Milkman is
faced with yet another difficulty in retracing his family s past. His best friend, Guitar, seeks to
take Milkman s life. Once Milkman arrives into Shalimar, Virginia, the town in which Pilate
spent much of her earlier life, he discovers that Guitar has left him a message. As voiced by a
local, Yeah. Said to tell you your day was sure coming or your day...something like that...your
day is here (262). Milkman receives this message with shock and surprise. Not only must he
work to discover his family history, but he must do so while in danger of losing his life. He
chooses to risk his life and continue his search for the gold in Shalimar, a search that leads him to
his family history.
Milkman is faced with death while on a hunting trip with the men of Shalimar, The wire pressed
into his neck then and took his breath [...] there was a piece of a second in which the wire left
room enough to gasp, to take another breath. But it was a living breath this time, not a dying one
(279). Milkman survives this fight and deters Guitar, but as he struggles for his life, all the worries
disappear. This struggle becomes his true struggle for life, not his fighting against those that
surround his life. In this moment,

The Joint Commission Added the National Patient Safety...
The Joint Commission added the National Patient Safety Goal: Identifying Individuals at Risk
for Suicide (NPSG 15.01.01) in 2007. This goal was directed at psychiatric and general hospitals
with patients whose primary complaint is an emotional or behavior disorder, including substance
abuse (according to DSM). This goal is directed at both types of hospitals for important reasons;
(1) general hospitals do not have an environment that is conducive to the protection of individuals
who are suicidal, and (2) psychiatric hospitals are constructed to protect individuals who are
suicidal but have a high concentration of suicidal individuals and are not always staffed
appropriately. This goal has an intent that basic issues related to suicide... Show more content on

Psychiatric and general hospitals are required to, Conduct a risk assessment that identifies
specific characteriscts of the individual served and environmental features that may increase or
decrease the risk for suicide (Joint Commission, 2010). Many psychiatric hospitals have
extended their services in the last few decades to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and these
admissions and their environments will now require a complete suicide risk assessment, if it
has not been done so before. Safety goal 15A puts emphasis on care during and following
discharge from a healthcare organization to be an important first step in protecting and planning
care for at risk individuals, especially in emergency medicine where young patients are treated
quickly and not for overnight stays (Adamski, 2007). Elements for Performance for NPSG
15.01.01 as described by the Joint Commission in July 2010, M 3 reads, When an individual at
risk for suicide leaves the care of the organization, provide suicide prevention information (such as
a crisis hotline) to the individual and his or her family (Joint Commission, 2010). In general
hospitals and psychiatric hospitals assessment of the patient at risk for suicide will be done by the
treating physician and the nurse. Collaboration will be done with other treating

Analgesima Essay
Analgesics
Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients
frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating
properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce
inflammation and irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some
cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20).
Oral and intravenous antibiotics
Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Oral antibiotics are generally reserved for
patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes, adenopathy, or an infection extending outside
the ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S.
aureus (6). Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and
drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade.
Long term monitoring
For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris
has been removed. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild
cases, follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after
starting treatment is usually adequate (3).
(d) Prognosis
Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48 72
hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2 3 days should call the diagnosis into
question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in
7 10 days (3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In
some patients, OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating administration of narcotic pain relievers.
Pain usually improves 2 5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common
secondary to canal occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or
neck. If left untreated, the infection may invade the deeper adjacent structures and progress to
necrotizing (malignant)

Antisocial Persoanlity Disorder
Individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) are characterized as being deceitful,
egocentric, and having little regard for rules or the feelings of others (Duggan, 2009). Individuals
with ASPD have been found to be unable to correctly interpret emotional situations; they also
experience negative feelings more often than positive feelings. They are also more likely to
experience anger than fear, which can trigger violent behavior. Individuals with ASPD have a
tendency to employ defense mechanisms that can lead to charm and narcissism (Gawda, 2013).
The combination of lack of emotional insight with these psychopathic qualities can create a
dangerous individual. It also makes psychologists ambivalent about treating these individuals and it
can make the treatment process for even the most dedicated psychologist very challenging. As
such, many of these individuals run into trouble with law enforcement. Half of the population
diagnosed with ASPD have arrest records and half of all male inmates could be diagnosed with
ASPD (Duggan, 2009). Duggan determined that 1 6% of the general male population can be
diagnosed with ASPD and co morbidity with substance use is high. He also determined that ASPD
is a disorder that is not commonly studied properly; recent reviews of studies performed on ASPD
populations could only identify five experiments that met the Cochrane criteria for an acceptable
randomized controlled trial. Duggan examined whether or not preventive measures

The Internal Analysis Of Dollar Tree Essay
The internal analysis is very important in a company. Just like the external analysis, both of
these analysis help to determine strategies. The Internal analysis involves the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunity and threats of a company (Pearson, 2014). Dollar Tree has many
strengths but they also have some weakness too. If Dollar Tree would use the data that they
have from their internal analysis they could turn a lot of their weakness into strengths. But we
will talk about their weaknesses later. The more strength a company has the better. One of
Dollar Tree s strengths would be that they acquired Family Dollar in 2015. This is a huge
strength for Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree has many opportunities to overtake the dollar store market.
They only need to keep inquiring their competitor s stores. Strength for Dollar Tree is their
strong financial performance. They are the largest dollar store in the market. Dollar Tree has a
$15.5B Annual net sale that grew to 80.2% in 2015 and exceeded $15 billion for the first time in
Company history. Now to Dollar Tree s weaknesses, this would be their low inventory turnover
ratio. In 2016, Dollar Tree reported that their inventory turnover ratio was 3.8 (Canadean, 2016).
This is a high number. This is saying that they have more than enough of inventory in store that is
not being bought by their customers. This is really money that is setting in their warehouse or
stockroom and it just sitting and is not being used. This is bad for Dollar Tree.

Healthy Eating Unhealthy Ogden
HEALTHY EATING
INTRODUCTION
Ogden (2017) has defined health behavior as any behavior that has a positive or negative impact on
that individual s health status. For example, healthy eating, physical activity, safe sex, and wearing
seat belts are behaviors that would positively impact a person s health, while the opposite behaviors,
unhealthy eating, sedentary lifestyle, unsafe sex and desisting from wearing seat belts, can
negatively impact the health of an individual. This written assignment will discuss healthy eating
habits that my family has vigilantly engaged in for the last several years and the beliefs that have
motivated us to adapt this behavior. Before we got engaged in this behavior, we had no idea that an
individual s health outcome is largely determined by what they eat and how they eat it. Constantly
seeking information about diet and healthy eating in general, we gradually changed our behavior
concerning our eating habits. We strongly believed that we could take control of our health status
by deliberately choosing what to and what not to eat.
DISCUSSION
French and British Psychological Society (2010) have stated that health behavior may be
categorized into two: risk increasing behaviors and health promoting behaviors. To live a healthy
lifestyle, we resolved to avoid the former and adapt the latter, and the behavior that we felt was
crucial to pay attention to was healthy eating. French British Psychological Society have
emphasized that the modern food

  • 2. The Process of The Life Cycle of A Star Essay Professor Lawrence Krauss claims that, In our galaxy, there are over 100 billion stars alone. ( Extreme ). Each one of those stars is a factory which slowly builds the materials for the foundations of the universe ( Stars ). Stars are as varied as people. While they are all born the same way, they do not all die the same way. Some stars live fast and die young; others die slowly and quietly ( Extreme ). The life cycle of a staris violent, they churn, pulsate, and sometimes explode, but the products of its life are invaluable building blocks for the Universe. There is a process to the life cycle of a star. The birth of a star is a process completely fueled by gravity ( Life ). All stars are born in something called a nebula, which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evolution of a star s birth is a slow process. It can take up to fifty million years for a star the size of our sun to fully mature (Redd). Many stars then go on to live long and brilliant lives, although not always ( Stars ). {Two new paragraphs: Main Sequence, and Post Main Sequence evolution) The deaths of stars come in two varieties. The first variety is that of a slow fading into oblivion. After a long period of time, all of the hydrogen inside the core of a star will be drained, and the hydrogen fusion process within the core will cease. This cessation causes the core to begin to fall on itself, generating heat. Within other stellar layers, there is still sufficient hydrogen to continue fusing hydrogen into helium. The higher location in which the fusion occurs causes the other layers of the star to increase in size. The star is now referred to as a red giant ( Stars ). After this stage occurs and the star reaches the proper density, the helium in the star will begin to be fused into carbon. This helium burning phase usually lasts about 100 million years ( Life ). Once the helium fuel source is exhausted, the star will become a red supergiant, which will only live for a few tens of thousands of years ( Life ). However, as the star expands, it becomes increasingly unstable. Sudden energy surges rip through the star and start to blow away its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Analysis Of Oedipus Rex Bliss Anita Vacation English 9 CP Mr. Myles May 3, 2010 Oedipus Rex Bliss in Ignorance One of the most memorable and meaningful Socratic quotes applies well when in context of Sophocles Theban Trilogy. The unexamined life is not worth living, proclaims Socrates. He could have meant many things by this statement, and in relation to the play, the meaning is found to be even more complex. Indeed, the situation of Oedipus, king of Thebes, the truth of this statement is in question. Would Oedipus have been better off if he was blind to the knowledge of his birthing and the fate that was foretold to someday befall him? Truly though, his life would have been a far better and easier path had he never known about his true origins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oedipus, up to the point in which he heard the comment in the tavern in Corinth, lived an unexamined life. To Socrates, he was an unfulfilled man, one who deserved to know more, one who not complete. However, in a much less metaphysical sense, Oedipus life was complete, in that he had all that he needed, and was living a happy and fruitful life. As the drama progresses, he finds out more and more, learning exactly what the implications of his birth was, he suffers the fate for examining his life. So what Socrates had meant, that the life which was not rich with self exploration and reflection was not worth living, was indeed different than its application in terms of Oedipus, who s life was unexamined, yet complete (214). The question arises, what would life have been like, if Oedipus had not discovered his true origins? If he had stayed in Corinth, would this have ever happened? We find that indeed, we would have had no story, if not for that lone comment of a drunkard that sparked the fire of rebellion in the young prince Oedipus.(Chen) He ventured out to Delphi, to pry knowledge of his background out of it, and to discover if this was indeed the truth, despite the fact that his adopted parents of Corinth had assured him of it falseness. Oedipus leaves Corinth, fulfilling the Socratic idea of the unexamined life. However, we must evaluate the eventual consequences of his actions and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dealing With and Conquering Grief in Banana Yoshimoto s... Dealing With and Conquering Grief Following the loss of a loved person, a person usually begins a period where they grieve over the loss of that person. While grieving, a person usually has a hard time accepting that a beloved person is truly gone. A personal activity is usually apparent during this time, and while this activity is usually connected to the person that they have lose, it helps a person deal with the tragedy that has fallen upon them. This idea is apparent in the stories Kitchen and Moonlight Shadow , both of which written by Banana Yoshimoto. Throughout both Kitchen and Moonlight Shadow , it is clear that grief is the stage when an individual is in denial over a beloved persons, and while there are a number of different ways in order to cope with the grief, the only way to overcome grief for good is by accepting the fact that the individual who passed away is gone. Perhaps the most prominent example of this idea occurs during Kitchen, following the death of Mikage s grandmother. Following the death of her grandmother, Mikage spends a large amount of time in her kitchen, where she feels most comfortable. Mikage states that after her grandmother s death, the hum of the refrigerator kept me from thinking of my loneliness (6). • 6. Effects Of Production Stoppage On Ford Motor s Single... Risk #1: Losses caused by production stoppage in Ford Motor s single source suppliers Risk Description Although single sourcing can create an efficient, low cost supply chain model for many top manufacturers like Ford, dependence on a single source can also end up being quite costly for a company. If one of Ford s single suppliers halts production on any key component for any reason, there will be adverse effects. As Ford reported in their 2014 annual 10 K filing, many of the components in their vehicles cannot be re sourced quickly or inexpensively to another supplier because of long lead times and new contractual arrangements that the new supplier must follow (Ford Motor Co.). Ford has had complications with this particular risk in the past. In 1998, faulty software in a German supplier of door and trunk latches halted production in several of their factories. After a three day halt in Ford Fiestas and Pumas, it is estimated that the difficulties cost Ford up to 7,000 vehicles (Professional Engineering). Another example of the severity of the risk occurred several months prior to the 1998 Ford incident. Week long national strikes in Denmark froze Saab s supplier production of key engine parts. The halt in production left Saab without engine mounts for its newly launched vehicles. Ultimately, 4,250 factory workers were sent home at an approximate cost of $90,000,000 (inflation adjusted) (Professional Engineering). This has been a recurring problem in large manufacturers ... • 12. Analysis Of The Details Of Why Nice Guys Finish Last By... Rozik Jemyan Philosophy 101 Monday Night Upon reviewing the details of Why Nice Guys Finish Last, the author Julia Serano emphasizes that with society being the way it is, men tend to become bad boys because society and culture is brought up to believe that the way to win a womans heart and attention is by being sexually aggressive. Julia Serano argues that in order to recognize rape culture, we must first learn to understand the predator / prey mindset. In this essay, I will argue that in order to neutralize the predator / prey mindset, society needs to stop looking at women as the prey and the men as the predators. I believe that if society learns how to overlook men as being hunters and women as the prey, that would make the amount of rape occurrences drop massively. In my past experiences I have ubiquitously heard throughout my life: Nice guys finish last. Women don t want a man that is sweet and sensitive because it is a speculation that all women want a real man. The comprehension of a real man in this society is taught to be someone who is dominant, someone who leads and takes control. Nice guys continuously get turned down by women because women are accustomed to see the sympathetic man as being unnatural and bizarre. In my opinion, dominance and sexual aggression are the key ingredients in capturing a woman s attention. Womens brains are stimulated automatically to set one s sights on a man who can protect them. Which is why they fall towards the sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. U.s. Drug Policy Critique Essay U.S. Drug Policy Critique Drug Policy in the United States began under the Presidency of Richard M. Nixon, who launched the War on Drugs and oversaw the creation of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The sole purpose of both initiatives was to combat the copious amounts of drugs flowing out of our borders. Then First Lady Nancy Reagan, who will go down in history as the greatest First Lady of All Time, launched Just Say No . A campaign aimed towards the youth to refuse the vices of drugand alcohol abuse. These policies were perpetuated in the 1990s under the Clinton Administration who passed their own tough on crime initiatives as well. The upside, the implementation of these policies has caused the drug use rates to equal where they were 25 years ago. On the downside, the United Statesimprisons more people than any other industrialized nation in the world because of the drug offenses. The War on Drugs, as mentioned above, has driven mass incarcerations in the U.S. Judicial Systems. In 2014 there were 1.5 million drug arrests in the United States (Rothwell). Statistically speaking eight in ten of these were for possession only. Today more than 50 percent of people in federal prisons are incarcerated for drug violations (Rothwell). The main catalyst in new prison admissions has been drug law violations. In the essay On The Rainy River, the author Tim O Brien tells about his experiences and how his relationship with a single person had affected his life so dramatically. It is hard for anyone to rely fully on their own personal experiences when there are so many other people out there with different experiences of their own. Sometimes it takes the experiences and knowledge of others to help you learn and build from them to help form your own personal identity. In the essay, O Brien speaks about his experiences with a man by the name of Elroy Berdahl, the owner of the fishing lodges that O Brien stays on while on how journey to find himself. The experiences O Brien has while there helps him to open his mind and realize what his true personal identity was. It gives you a sense than our own personal identities are built on the relationships we have with others. There are many influences out there such as our family and friends. Sometimes even groups of people such as others of our nationality and religion have a space in building our personal identities. In the essay O Brien is faced with a conflict, a moral dilemma. He had to decide whether he was either going to go to the war and fight or was he going to run away and avoid the draft. The relationship he had with Berdahl was not of friends or even regular acquaintances. Rather they were perfect strangers. That goes to show you that anyone can be a major influence on your life. Berdahl helped to open O Brien s heart. He realized who he was and where he had come from, his past and what he has been through. How all the events of the past helped him to become the person he was right now. How his past helped form his personal identity. The formation of our own personal identities often begins at birth. As you grow up, your parents are a major influence on you. They teach you many things and help to shape your personal identity. • 21. The Impact Of Digital Technology On My Life I 201 brought many important highlights about digital technologies to my life. Coming from a 1:1 Apple Distinguished high school, I had been exposed to a lot of technology in the classroom, which gave me an interesting start to CI 201. A highlight for me was creating the technology lesson plan. Doing this assignment was significant because as a future educator I will be making lesson plans daily, so it is extremely important that this is a skill that I continue to work on. Along with this, it was exciting to see how you can have technology incorporated into almost any Iowa Core standard. Another reason I enjoyed this assignment was because it put me into my future position, one that I am really looking forward to. For example, because I hope to someday teach kindergarten, I chose a kindergarten standard about geometry for my lesson. From there, I was able to create a student project with technology, worksheets, checklists, and a rubric. It was almost as if I was already in my future position. Another highlight from CI 201 was video chatting with Carrie. It was amazing to see how someone in the field of technology does their job on a daily basis, and get real time situations. With talking to Carrie came learning about self paced math. This is a topic that I hadn t heard about before coming into CI 201, but is extremely interesting to me. For self paced math, students learn math from videos according to what level they are at. This guarantees that no student is farther ahead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Triples store data and are imported and exported using the Resource Description Framework (RDF). A triple is a data entity comprising three components a subject, predicate and object that describe a set of data such as We have shoes . The subject is We , the predicate is have and the object is shoes . Triples provide an easy and flexible way of modeling data that is similar to how the human brain functions. Triples have a semantic structure that can easily represent connections between structured data and free flowing text. Triples form interconnected data networks (graphs), which are easy to read and can represent complex data structures. Information is stored in a triplestore and retrieved using a database query language called SPARQL. SPARQL is a query language for RDF data. It is a basic method for querying remote databases over HTTP. SPARQL can perform graph pattern matching queries and allows users to specify types of accessibility and navigational queries (the shortest distance between two nodes or how two nodes are connected) in triplestores. SPARQL generates powerful queries and reasons intuitively on the data in a triplestore. This also allows computers to reason intuitively on data. The information in triplestores can be stored, accessed and manipulated much easier versus using a relational database exponentially expanding data management and storage ... These factors are the inputs for the creation of goods and services applied to make an economic profit (Investopedia, n.d), and fall within four categories land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship (Nickolas, 2015). Understand ing these inputs is paramount as incremental changes in a cost structure can determine a profit and a loss (Mohr, n.d.). For Johnson Johnson (J J), the three key factors are land, labor, and entrepreneurship. Land is the economic resource encompassing natural resources found within a nation s economy (Vitez, n.d.). Natural resources do not turn themselves into products; labor is required. Labor is the available human capital which converts raw or natural resources into consumer goods (Vitez, n.d.). Except for the entrepreneur, all work performed at organizational levels signify labor (In vestopedia, n.d). Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, involves the managerial tasks of assem bling, allotting and dispensing economic resources or consumer products to individuals and other businesses (Vitez, n.d.). Furthermore, entrepreneurship includes the furthering new engagement and experimentation methods, which may lead to more revenue (Miller, 2016). Here is the experiment of Ivan pavlov and his dogs. Pavlov, a physiologist ( not a physcologist ) was conducting an experiment involving dogs and their digestive system. He discovered that the dogs did not only salivated to the taste of food but to the sight of food,an empty bowl, and even to the sound of footsteps of the lab assistants bringing them food. Pavlov was interested by this; so he took it farther. Because he knew that dogs salivate to food,In his next experiment he rang a bell right before giving the dogs food. He repeated this for a while. Consequently the dogs learned to associate the ringing of a bell with food and as a result the dogs would salivate. Both bulls consist of the decrees that restrain the rulers from enforcing their derogatory authority over Christians: one forbids prelates and churchmen to pay the tax that laymen heavily imposed on them: the latter one demands suspected clergies under the papal jurisdiction, furthermore insisting the pope s total authority over his churchmen in France. However, Boniface considered Philip s preparation of the war as a plot to pursue his power over the church s possessions. • 39. Letters from a Birmingham Jail Essay Letters from a Birmingham Jail Aristotle is a very citable man when it comes to the way we think today. His rhetoric techniques are still being used in today s society. The Neo Aristotelian Criticism is three different appeals of persuasion. This is ethos, pathos and logos, which makes one heck of a convincing argument. Ethos gives credibility, pathos shows emotion and logos uses words. In the text, Letter from Birmingham Jail, we find many examples of the criticism. Martin Luther King Jr. is writing a letter from inside the jail of Birmingham in April of 1963. This letter King wrote was in response to a letter he received from the religious leaders after King is making a stand against the racial issues in Alabama. These leaders ... King goes on to talk about how this affiliation is across the south and this goes to show the ethics, because these eighty five groups who believe the same thing, can t be wrong for what they believe in. On the fifth page of the text, King gives an example of Adolf Hitler and what he did was legal in Germany. Hitler was the maker of his own rules for his country, and due to his status didn t make his actions correct. At that time I m sure there were those who came against Hitler and were punished for it, just as King was being punished for his stand. Ethics is based on societies views as right and wrong, not on what is written down in black and white. Today as we look at history we see that Hitler was wrong for what did, and we see King was right for wanting a better nation for everyone including African Americans. Top of the seventh page is another great example of ethos in this letter. Martin Luther King Jr. makes reference to Jesus, Amos, Paul, Martin Luther, John Bunyan, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson for all being an extremist. King views himself as an extremist for equality. I think King first makes note of naming Jesus to refer back to the bases of the clergymen s religion. All these men that he names were men who stood alone in someway for what they believed in. They all stood for what was right according to what we see today, but not at the time they made a move. ... Women s status in the 19th century Europe also changed. Many of the 19th century women were able to have a profession as they received higher and wider education, and also allowed to have more participation in society. The style of Felix and Fanny was very similar, mainly because they studied with the same teacher, and grew up in the same environment. Moreover, they often exchanged musical opinions, and critiqued each other s music when they grew up. Many historians say that Fanny was inspired by Felix, but some of their works show that they were inspired by each others. Between November 1839 to May 1840 Fanny was traveling in Italy. A year later she composed Il Saltarello romano, a piano piece which was inspired by her traveling experience. However, it contains a rhythmic pattern, and a motif which is reminiscent of the last movement of Felix s Italian Symphony, composed in 1833. Therefore, it is possible that Fanny was also inspired by her brother s symphony (Cooper amp; Prandi, 2002). On the other hand, Felix s Andante in G major Op.62 No.1 from Songs Without Words Book 5 composed in 1844 is very similar to Fanny s Andante in G major Op.2 No.1 composed in 1836. These two Andante have very similar openings which consisted of an anacrusis followed by a dominant seventh, then resolved down. Moreover, it is obvious that Felix s Andante has a similar melodic structure to Fanny s. Even through the Mendelssohn sibling s composition style were very similar, there are some characteristic in Fanny s composition which are different from her brother s. A bad design could pose a major risk as any miscalculation or oversight would mean that its structure may not be able to handle the stress and enormous loads. Design may show low probability but will have very high impact if the building comes crashing down. The Empire State Building was the first commercial construction project to employ the technique of fast track construction, a commonplace approach today but very new in the early 20th Century. This technique consists of starting the construction process before the designs are fully completed in order to reduce delays and inflation costs. In this case, it was imperative to use the fast track construction method to win the race for the tallest building (2). Force majeure By definition, force majeure is a superior force , also known as cas fortuit (French) or casus fortuitus (Latin) chance occurrence, unavoidable accident (11). Force majeure may be repeated heavy hail, or an earthquake, or a hurricane. The building is intended to stand for some years should be able to meet these challenges. A flexible structure may avoid destruction in an earthquake, while a more solid building with good masonry would be destroyed. Earthquakes can also result in foundation problems when moist filled land liquefies (13). The Empire State ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This goal was directed at psychiatric and general hospitals with patients whose primary complaint is an emotional or behavior disorder, including substance abuse (according to DSM). This goal is directed at both types of hospitals for important reasons; (1) general hospitals do not have an environment that is conducive to the protection of individuals who are suicidal, and (2) psychiatric hospitals are constructed to protect individuals who are suicidal but have a high concentration of suicidal individuals and are not always staffed appropriately. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20). Oral and intravenous antibiotics Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases, follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after starting treatment is usually adequate (3). (d) Prognosis Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. • 48. Antisocial Persoanlity Disorder Individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) are characterized as being deceitful, egocentric, and having little regard for rules or the feelings of others (Duggan, 2009). Individuals with ASPD have been found to be unable to correctly interpret emotional situations; they also experience negative feelings more often than positive feelings. They are also more likely to experience anger than fear, which can trigger violent behavior. Individuals with ASPD have a tendency to employ defense mechanisms that can lead to charm and narcissism (Gawda, 2013). The combination of lack of emotional insight with these psychopathic qualities can create a dangerous individual. It also makes psychologists ambivalent about treating these individuals and it can make the treatment process for even the most dedicated psychologist very challenging. As such, many of these individuals run into trouble with law enforcement. Half of the population diagnosed with ASPD have arrest records and half of all male inmates could be diagnosed with ASPD (Duggan, 2009). Duggan determined that 1 6% of the general male population can be diagnosed with ASPD and co morbidity with substance use is high. He also determined that ASPD is a disorder that is not commonly studied properly; recent reviews of studies performed on ASPD populations could only identify five experiments that met the Cochrane criteria for an acceptable randomized controlled trial. The Internal analysis involves the strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threats of a company (Pearson, 2014). Dollar Tree has many strengths but they also have some weakness too. If Dollar Tree would use the data that they have from their internal analysis they could turn a lot of their weakness into strengths. But we will talk about their weaknesses later. The more strength a company has the better. One of Dollar Tree s strengths would be that they acquired Family Dollar in 2015. This is a huge strength for Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree has many opportunities to overtake the dollar store market. They only need to keep inquiring their competitor s stores. Strength for Dollar Tree is their strong financial performance. They are the largest dollar store in the market. Dollar Tree has a $15.5B Annual net sale that grew to 80.2% in 2015 and exceeded $15 billion for the first time in Company history. Now to Dollar Tree s weaknesses, this would be their low inventory turnover ratio. In 2016, Dollar Tree reported that their inventory turnover ratio was 3.8 (Canadean, 2016). This is a high number. • 50. Healthy Eating Unhealthy Ogden HEALTHY EATING INTRODUCTION Ogden (2017) has defined health behavior as any behavior that has a positive or negative impact on that individual s health status. For example, healthy eating, physical activity, safe sex, and wearing seat belts are behaviors that would positively impact a person s health, while the opposite behaviors, unhealthy eating, sedentary lifestyle, unsafe sex and desisting from wearing seat belts, can negatively impact the health of an individual. This written assignment will discuss healthy eating habits that my family has vigilantly engaged in for the last several years and the beliefs that have motivated us to adapt this behavior. Before we got engaged in this behavior, we had no idea that an individual s health outcome is largely determined by what they eat and how they eat it. Constantly seeking information about diet and healthy eating in general, we gradually changed our behavior concerning our eating habits. We strongly believed that we could take control of our health status by deliberately choosing what to and what not to eat. DISCUSSION French and British Psychological Society (2010) have stated that health behavior may be categorized into two: risk increasing behaviors and health promoting behaviors. To live a healthy lifestyle, we resolved to avoid the former and adapt the latter, and the behavior that we felt was crucial to pay attention to was healthy eating.
