Conflict And Risk In Welcome To The Monkey House By Kurt...
Would you take a risk, knowing that there could be potential consequences? Characters always find
themselves in risky situations where they have to make a tough choice. Most people aren t daring
enough, and they wouldn t gamble with their safety. Risk, and the process of making decisions, is a
strategy that is prevalent in Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut uses this
strategy to show the conflicts and decisions that characters in his stories had to make. The use of
conflict and decisions are used in the stories A Long Walk to Forever and Next Door Doing this
reveals an aspects of the characters identity and shows if they are willing to take chances.
Love has the power to make you do crazy things. When you re in love with someone it makes your
head go crazy, and it makes you act irrationally. Leading you to take risks, and make difficult
decisions. The theme of conflict and risk is prevalent in Newt and Catherine s actions in A Long Walk
to Forever. Newt and Catherine both had to make a choice and take a risk to be with each other. Newt
was sacrificing his job in the Army. Newt exclaimed I m what they call A.W.O.L. (Vonnegut 52) This
means that Newt left his position to go back to their town to see Catherine. This is a major risk for
Newt to be taking. Leaving your position in the Army, and not taking a leave of absence can lead to a
serious punishment. Thirty days in the stockade, that s what one kiss will cost me. (Vonnegut 56)

Challenge Convention, Change Our World
There was much to learn from the collective process of this group project. The journey from planning
to the execution of the fundraiser was an interesting one. There were numerous moments where we
learned a lot, which were meaningful to us and will probably stay with us for a long time, which were
rewarding and gave the group a sense of accomplishment and at the same time there were moments
when we were frustrated and felt like everything was failing. Even after this memorable journey of
ups and downs we successfully organized the fundraiser and learnt to work as a group. After this
management project our group as a whole understood what Clark really stands for: Challenge
Convention, Change Our World. In a cliché way, this is true. There are many business schools that
have the sole purpose to push their students to become Fortune 500 CEOs or millionaires but Clark
focuses on putting a social welfare spin into their business programs, which we truly appreciate even
more now. This project has motivated us to contribute even more to society and to integrate ourselves
into the community. Some of us also want to work in a non profit. This project inspired us to work for
non profit organizations and to continue to work hard to be a successful businessman/woman, but also
a compassionate person in society. Working for this project helped us learn a lot of soft as well as hard
skills. It helped us develop a discipline of keeping group members updated about the current situations

A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In this extract we are presented with Scrooge. From the
beginning Scrooge is presented as a miser. In the extract we find out that he is an old, rude and
ignorant man that doesn t appreciate others around him. Dickens uses different language techniques to
describe Scrooges appearance as clear as possible. In the opening paragraph Dickens uses imagery to
create a vivid impression of Scrooge. He is described as a tight fisted hand at the grind stone , and this
metaphor suggests that Scrooge works hard for his money but is very tight with his money. In the
opening lines Dickens includes similes. Hard and sharp as a flint. Flint is a hard stone that was used
with iron to create sparks before people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickens has used verbs used as adjectives when describing Scrooge such as stiffened his gait . The
effect of these words makes the reader focus on it more and because it s a long list the reader gets a
clear definition of what Scrooge looks like. The adjectives that Dickens uses aren t describing him as
being a nice person, from these adjectives you can tell that he is an old and miserable character.
Dickens focuses on temperature, when doing this he emphasises how cold hearted Scrooge really is.
No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could cool him. This shows the reader that Scrooge is as
cold as he could ever be and nothing can change him. Dickens also uses a pathetic fallacy, he uses the
weather to describe Scrooges character. The heaviest rain, and snow, and hail, and sleet, could boast of
the advantage over him in only one respect. Dickens uses the harshest weather to describe him,
showing the reader how horrible of a man Scrooge is, using a pathetic fallacy clearly shows the reader
how important Scrooges personality is throughout the book. From this extract the reader knows that
Scrooge is a negative character. Straight away we know that he has a negative impact on others.
Nobody ever stopped him in the street to say, with gladsome looks, My dear Scrooge, how are you?
This dialogue never actually happened, this shows that the other characters in the book are too afraid

Raising A Child Discipline
Not a single parent will ever say raising a child is easy. In fact, raising a child is, indeed, difficult. It
costs money, and a great deal of emotional, psychological and physical energy; just to name a few.
Most importantly, parenting never seems to happen as many parents have imagined or wished.
However, the intention of this paper is not to greaten the sufferings of the parents by provoking their
frustrations. It is rather to provide an insight or an option to make parenting less painful and more
enjoyable as it should have been in the first place. Out of many adjustments a parent can make for the
betterment of his/her child and their relationship, one major component is discipline. There are already
many cases of failures of either over discipling or under discipling a child. However, with a well
balanced and prepared methods of disciplining, one s child can maximize to his/her potential.
One of the most significant element of discipline is the consistency of rules. Parents should clearly
elaborate on what the rules are and both the positive and negative consequences following certain
actions. Statistics show that children whose parents are strict with rules are less likely to be
noncompliant and to become a juvenile delinquent compared to children raised by parents with a lack
of consistent rules. Studies further indicate that children s self esteem and send of self efficacy directly
correlate with their family s control in their lives. Such positive influence on the

Interview with a Manager

Introduction: Leadership is understanding people and involving them to help you do a job. That takes
all of the good characteristics, like integrity, dedication of purpose, selflessness, knowledge, skill,
implacability, as well as determination not to accept failure (Burke 1995). The purpose of this paper is
to interview a manager from an organization and find out the leadership styles she uses to effectively
manage the staff there. This paper also looks at the approach she uses toward employment satisfaction,
how she motivates the employees and analyzes the different approaches she uses in her job. The
manager that I interviewed works in Loui Café in Penn University. Her name is Bobby Hill and she ...

If everyone worked equally aiming towards the same goal, the employees will be satisfied with their
job and in turn the customers will be happy with the service they received. Laura L. Paglis and
Stephen G. Green states in the article, Leadership Self Efficacy and Managers Motivation for Leading
Change that leadership efficacy helps in building the relationship of the manager with the employees,
gaining their commitment to the organization to change goals that have been set, and overcome any
problems that they face along the way. It has been found that managers with higher self efficacy are
more likely to initiate efforts into achieving the set goals for the organization (Paglis et al, 2002).
Ms. Hill works as a transactional leader in the café as she sets goals and rewards or punishes the

world.
It s designed to ensure air defense using long and medium range missiles that can hit aerial targets,
including tactical and strategic aircraft as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, at ranges of up to 400
kilometers.
The system consists of a set of radars, missile launchers and command posts, and is operated solely by
the Russian military.
The Russian S 300PMU 1 TMD System
The proliferation of ballistic and cruise missiles has created interest in theater missile defense (TMD).
The objective of a TMD system is to defend against missile attacks. Such a system might be
configured to protect an area as small as a city or port, or as large as several thousand square
kilometers. It could provide protection for civilian populations as well as military forces. Providing
effective TMD would require a seamless network of early warning sensors, command posts, fire
control radars, and anti missile missiles.
Although defensive in nature, the deployment of a TMD system may catalyze threats to international
peace and security by upsetting a regional balance of military forces, undercutting other states
deterrent capabilities, or by protecting forces that can be used for offensive purposes. TMD
deployment may therefore spur an unstable

Analysis Of The Article Barrel Cleaning Procedures
The assigned reading material for this week of CFL 100 is titled Barrel Cleaning Procedures . It is an
uncredited article, and appears courtesy of the website accurateshooter.com
(http://www.accurateshooter.com/technical articles/barrel cleaning debate/). In the world of firearms,
their maintenance can often be a highly debated subject. Such is the care when it comes to bore
cleaning. Every shooter has their own methods, and ideas. It can vary from the cleaner, solvent, and
brushes used in weapons maintenance. Even while I was serving in the Army, we had the same
cleaning standards across the board. However, the weapons would almost never be dressed right dress

I had previously heard of some of the tips, while others are brand new to me. I do agree with the
recommendation of getting your shots down on paper prior to scrubbing the bore with a brush. I think
great care must be used when you use any type of brush on a weapon. This is because of the hostile
nature of the brush on the interior of the bore. When I clean my weapons I always use a bore guide to
prevent scraping the sides of the bore. Also I prefer to use nylon over brass anytime. It is less abrasive,

Art, Meaning And Artist s Meaning By Daniel O. Nathan
When people encounter an artwork and try to understand it, some would refer to the artist s intention,
but some may think it is not helpful. This interpretation is concerned as one essential component of
aesthetics, both in the philosophical perspective and in common sense. They two kinds of people have
their official name for what they believe. The debate here is about whether the artist s intention can
influence the interpretation of the art.
The intentionalists believe that artist s intention can either determine or impact the interpretation. The
anti intentionalists hold the opposite view, artist s intention should not be taken into consideration in
interpreting. In the discussion of this, there are some small variations within each side, but we will
stay with this definition for now.
Daniel O. Nathan is obviously an anti intentionalist. In his paper Art, Meaning and Artist s Meaning ,
he demonstrated some vulnerabilities of the current anti intentionalism view, and then suggested some
new arguments and development on the basis of it. Some of them are not very plausible. I will defend
the intentionalist s view by evaluating some of Nathan s suggestions and point out the weakness of it. I
would first examine a suggestion regrading the convention of interpreting. The second will be about
the paradox of intention. Ideally this analysis would be illuminating to intentionalism view.

Middle School Are Essential For The Success Of Students
For me, middle school was probably the most excruciating years of my life. I thought it was only me
and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to their
bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting my locker
combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were gossiping about a
friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find it amazing that thirty
years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the layout, hallways, lockers, and
teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the middle school years are the most
influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they wish to become. Middle schools
are essential for the success of students because of the unique developmental stages of these students.
For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent development is key to understanding the physical,
emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55)
and also teachers need to develop a curriculum that is focused on developing students competence in
all subject matter and using their knowledge and available resources to design, implement, and
evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell,
2015, p. 145). All students should feel that they are accepted for who he or she is as an

Essay about French Baroque 1600c.e.-1750c.e.
French Baroque 1600 1750
Europe in the 1600s was at the end of Counter Reformation, and as the political and cultural shifts
took place, we begin to see art, particularly in France, influenced more and more, by the ruling
monarchy. The transition from Mannerism into Baroque is not clear, but eventually the arts started to
adopt a new look. And feel. Paintings started to become more exuberant, dynamic and ornamented.
The scale of work produced during this time increased dramatically. Where Mannerism marked a
departure from classical and realistic norms, Baroque becomes a return to these norms, but with an
emotional undertow and visual tension. However, through the Baroque pursuit of eloquence, it
abandoned the precious and contorted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light is always obscured by another element in the painting, which gives it a more dramatic, more
human feel, with greater depth. The emotional effect of this is very intimate and human. The
duplicitous nature of shadow and light in a La Tour painting could be seen as a metaphor for the good
and bad contained within human nature. It is also vague enough to be open to multiple interpretations.
In any interpretation this duality is almost given more importance than the subject matter.
The personality of Nicolas Poussin was contrary to La Tour, though both were very rational and
humanistic. Poussin sought to enter into the person of his subject, to become immersed in
psychological analysis. He combines his love of virtue and his love of landscape by placing tragic
figures in richly interesting and complexly constructed, heroic landscapes. He produced some of the
most demanding, yet satisfying landscape paintings in western culture. He believed passionately that
the disposition of the painting as a whole could be constructed to covey a mood or emotion. He also
had a unique combination of pagan and Christian themes, often giving a poetic treatment to subjects
from classic mythology and ancient history. Poussin was a classicist for whom the aesthetic values of
antiquity represented not only a formal ideal, but also a moral standard, a way conceiving a form that
cannot be separated from the good and true.

The Advantages Of Teaching Technology And The Benefits Of...
Benefits of Technology Children today are impacted by technology; some people believe that
technology can be beneficial in a child s life and others are strictly against it. Though, everyone is
accustomed to their own beliefs when it comes to raising a child, and how they want their child to be
educated. The main argument is should children or adults be involved with technology, and if so how
much technology should they encounter within the day? There is a wide variety of educational and
non educational resources that technology offers to teachers, parents, and students, in moderation
these resources can be beneficial to people educationally and socially. Schools today are trying their
best to stay up to date with the latest and greatest technology, from Smart Boards to lending each
student their own laptop or iPad. In the classroom teachers use the technology within their lesson
plans, but when planning they should make sure that the programs that they include will engage
students, and will also involve interaction between the students and program (Stošić, L). Incorporating
technology in the classroom is a great educational tool for teachers to use as part of their teaching
methods. While including educational technology methods in the classroom it will enhance students
learning skills and their cognitive characteristic (Stošić, L). With the right teaching methods and
reliable educational interactive learning programs, students are more excited and motivated about
learning, because of the involvement of today s modern technology. Outside of school, parents have
the option to entertain and at the same time educate their children by using technology. There are some
apps intended for kindergarten through twelfth grade, that parents can download to their device and
can be used for educational purposes. Most of the educational apps support the single person use of
interactive learning materials, simulations and learning games (Leinonen, T). Since apps include
multiple games to get children engaged in different educational lessons, they are more likely to retain
more knowledge of the content being taught. Educational apps are a great source for reviewing what
they child has learned or is learning in

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front A Book Review
Professor s Comments: This is a good example of a book review typically required in history classes.
It is unbiased and thoughtful. The Student explains the book and the time in which it was written in
great detail, without retelling the entire story... a pitfall that many first time reviewers may experience.
All Quiet on the Western Front is the story of Paul Baumer s service as a soldier in the German army
during World War I. Paul and his classmates enlist together, share experiences together, grow together,
share disillusionment over the loss of their youth, and the friends even experience the horrors of death
together. Though the book is a novel, it gives the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story is as relevant today as it was when published in 1929 because it is the story of more than
war; it is the story of humanity. The book begins with the death of Paul s friend. The men have, by this
time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a fine pair of English
airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer require them. It is not petty
greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the boots. The troops own equipment is
ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition an improvement on what they have. As we
find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots worn out, but the artillery of the German army is
also worn out. This may symbolize that not only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out,
but so is Germany as a whole. Germany was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just
as the soldiers had no idea where the artillery shells would land.
Paul reminisces about his days in school and how he and his friends believed the indoctrination they
had received from their schoolmaster. However, after experiencing war, Paul questions the fervent
nationalism of the Germans. What has nationalism done for Germany other than destroy the country?
In blindly following the words of his elders, Paul has achieved nothing except to become an old man
at the age of twenty. Not only does Paul now question his schoolmaster s reasoning, but he also

The Integumentary System In The Human Body
The Integumentary System plays an extensive role in our everyday lives. It consists of hair, skin, nails,

All these structures help protect the inner portion of the body. But the most important structure overall
is the skin.
The skin is used as a waterproof layer protecting everything on the inside of the body. The skin
regulates the temperature of the body and the moisture. It also works as a barrier keeping certain

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Economic Crisis
The second World War broke out and once again military engineering triggered the much need

were opportunities everywhere. The country began to use this war as a catalyst to gear up the industry.
The unemployed got inducted in the defence services. The governments subsidized wage program also
gave renewed impetus to the factories. The factories in turn generated employment. Military
engineering also propelled the economy with new growth arenas. New shipyards, bus services and
emergence of new electronic factories suddenly seem to bring in the lost glory to the US economy.

There is a science to it. There are many reasons one may attribute to this. One of them is that after
falling into the crisis the weaknesses of the economy gets exposed. These weaknesses may or may not
be the reasons for the emanated crisis but surly they now grab the eyeballs. Due to the crisis the policy
reforms get speeded up and measures are taken to tackle the weakness. In situations where financial
deficit take place austerity measures work. These measures have great impact as the spending of the
government reduces the fiscal deficit to huge extent. This is what the Greece policy reforms are
working at. During crisis, the measures aim to immediate relief and also long term solutions to current
problems. This kind of strategy has a great impact. To provide immediate relief some stress is put on
the economy but the long term now looks safe. In the long run when the economy recovers the stress
is relieved. This kind of policy reforms was used in America in the last recession. The idea was to
print money and inject them into the economy to boost spending; when the economy would recover
the policy would be to draw the excess money. The idea here was not a defensive move but more of an
aggressive policy reform. It has been seen throughout history that protectionist attitude leads to
aggregating the crisis and taking it into deeper zones of trouble while aggressive reforms boost the
recovery process. There is a saying Fortune favours the brave . Here it holds

Examples Of Learned Helplessness
Since childhood Sandra had experienced numerous difficulties in her life, began by her father who
was continuously abusing her in different ways, his actions had developed a sense of helplessness
inside of her that stayed with her for many years to follow at the age of 22 Sandra got married to her
husband who at first seemed to be a man of well manners, but it was proven later on that he was
completely the opposite of her expectations, besides he had also created an abusive unhealthy

defined as the inability to take control over one s life due to a previous lack of control in important life
outcomes (manyu li ,vaishali mardhekar, alka wadkar may 1 2012 ) The Learned helplessness

The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao Analysis
Anti feminist views through the novel of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao In recent discussions,
the novels The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, has given rise to a controversial
question: whether women should be labeled as incomplete and an uncertainty without men. At the
same time, some have argued and questioned the intention of the two authors i.e., whether they hold
any respect for women, at all. In fact, there has been a collective attempt to convey that men can
control women, and by controlling them (women), men are able to regulate love itself, and keep them
protected , as can be seen through these authors methodical choice of words such as bitch , raging ,
useless woman , fea , idiota , vividness and worthless . Moreover, though initially it may appear that
both aforementioned authors have taken a defensive stance when they label women as imperfect
human beings, setting the boundaries, and painting women as a disparaging object, in reality, however,
the said authors are heavily afflicted by thoughts of death, rendering them to be in a constant internal
conflict amongst themselves, in search of love, leaving us to further question whether their hostility
towards women is from an obdurate standpoint, wounded by personal experience, or are they just
merely trying to hypnotize their readers by confining the latter to only see 20th century s society
through his eyes. In this regard, my personal view is that not only do this novel shed light on the past
and immortality, but it is also undeniable that the idea of time and death constantly haunt the author,
adversely influencing his personal fears, rendering the latter to be subjective. Nonetheless, though it is
conceded that Diaz is power hungry for a superior status, i.e., dominance and power over his lovers, I
believe that the author finds comfort when he is able to vent out his actual feelings through the novel,
using ambiguous words, to channel his grievance as an act of voice against his individual
circumstance, the latter as it was experienced in his conservative era. In fact, the author has been open
to criticism and subject of much debate in recent times. As Diaz says, The dyad of Yunior and Oscar
drives much of what

Character Sarty In Abner Snopes
The main character, Sarty, is the son of a poor, migrant, sharecropper named Abner Snopes. Being a
sharecropper, Abner has to to divvy up half to two thirds of the harvest he reaps with the landowner, in
return for a roof over his family s heads, food, water, use of the land, etc.. During the late 1800 s, one
could only imagine how difficult it must have been to lift oneself out of poverty; and for the Snopes,
there was presumably no hope for advancement from the start. Abner knew what their future will hold
hard work and mere survival yet he continued to let his bitterness and anger get the better of him by
burning down the barns of those socially and economically above him. Sarty naively perceives his
father as no more than a buzzing wasp: capable of stinging for a little ... Show more content on

Though Abner still manages to find work, Abner and his family live like nomads, moving from farm
to farm, because of Abner s devilish behavior. Abner is setting a poor example for his young son,
Sarty, and perhaps after living such an unstable life for the past ten years, Sarty feels the desire to
breakaway and do what he believes is right and in his best interest, even if that means betraying his
father and leaving his mother and siblings behind. Perhaps this is his chance to get an education and
become something more than just a farmhand? Despite the fact that Sarty is a starving, vulnerable,
uneducated ten year old, and the idea of him being alone in the world is quite intimidating, he seems
to have a good head on his shoulders. After all, he is becoming a man, and that is apparent as the story
progresses. A simple example of Sarty s maturity is the change from calling Abner , Paps , to calling
him, Father , towards the end of the story. The informal, paps , indicates a loving relationship between
a father and child, while the formal, father , is often used by those who are more mature. It is curious
that Sarty quickly rephrased paps to father just after he betrayed

The Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The End Of The...
Reconstruction began early in 1865 after the end of the civil war when the South was undergoing
political, social and economic upheavals (Foner 15). The South embraced Union methods of total wars
that led to damage to their land and crops. As a result, many people died while others were captured as
slaves due to the huge drought and inflation facing their state, while their masters fled oncoming
unions. From these losses, policymakers by 1865 in Washington had no other choice rather than
reconstruction. Reconstruction involved several initiatives including abolishment and transformation
of the Southern society, recovering the Southern Unions and most importantly the enactment of an
assimilation legislation program that would aid in favoring the freed blacks into the American social
and economic system. President Lincoln had pardoned reconstruction of the South long before in1863
two years before the war ended (Kennedy and Cohen 44). This was known as the ten percent plan that
supported one of the initiatives. This plan allowed the Southern state to be assimilated to the union
after every ten percent of the population. Later in the year 1865 president Lincoln got assassinated and
Andrew Johnson succeeded him. President Johnson carried on with the ten percent plan. Both
presidents shared a similar interest during their reign which was to abolish slavery before joining the
union.
The radical republic congress as well admitted that the Southern States had to be transformed fully

Thy Sacrifice is Thy Salvation
Thy Sacrifice is Thy Salvation
Novels hold telling testaments within fraying pages, binding spines, breathless words, all to the sway
of theme and development. The complexity of a story can neither be salvaged nor understood but from
the barest elements that comprise its thematic importance. As this is but a proclaimed truth, it is given
that the themes of a narrative are the skeletal system as the parchment serves as its skin, the central
core to which without the foundation of, the entire system crumbles into but a mass. A Tale of Two
Cities is a work of grand depth, though its most fundamental seed is but the importance of rebirth
through sacrifice. This overarching theme is rooted in each character sprung from its roots, wrapped ...

Charles Darnay comes to us as a man of seemingly wondrous fortune, luck, though seeming of little
true consequence despite the manner of his introduction. These are the starting frames of their
character, the shallow impressions, the skeletons that shall parade through the pages of the book,

his miraculous transformation comes in the form of aid of his daughter, Lucie, that allows him to

hollowness, evolving into not a shadow of his former self, but a mirror, then an evolution, stronger
both in body as well as mind breathing, through actions and pages, capturing and reborn from the

and narrator, than that of Sydney Carton, whose sacrifice can be summarized in the simple phrase he
kept his word. The giving of himself, for another, to cover another, a sacrifice so great that he is not
only reborn in terms of character but also in the eyes of the knowing. To think the unlikely, to think of
the seemingly unkind, the shadows one never thinks that they shall step forth, shall do anything great,

The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Jewish Movement
Starting in the late 19th century, the Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a long standing clash between
the Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs due to several significant events. The Israeli palestinian conflict
is one that goes way back to the time of the Old Testament. The land known as Israel, was given to the
jewish people by God through Abraham. God Promised to give Abraham s descendants the land
eternally. Throughout the thousand of years, thousands of Arabs have moved to those lands which they
called Palestine. When it comes to whom should own the land, both sides have credible arguments.
The Jews say that it is written in the Bible while the Palestinian Arabs say that they have ruled the
land for thousand of years. The Palestinian Arabs are also the majority of the population in that region.
In the late 19th century, Theodor Herzl founded a group of Jews called the Zionists. According the the
Encyclopedia Britannica, Zionism is the Jewish nationalist movement that has had as its goal the
creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews. The
Zionist immediately began to relocate european Jews to four main cities in Palestine. These cities were
Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberias. During this time, Palestine was part of the Ottoman empire
and under direct control of the Ottoman Capital. Fast forwarding a couple of decades to WWI, the
Ottoman Empire began to weaken. In 1917, the British announced the Balfour Declaration

Literary Analysis: The Verdict
People delegate important personal aspects of their lives to professionals, but not without the risks of
unethical behaviors. The word Professional makes one think of wealth and power, which can result in
corruption; winning by any means necessary. In the movie The Verdict, Frank Galvin plays a lawyer
who has reduced himself to being a drunken ambulance chaser (Brown, Harris, Zanuck, amp; Lumet,
1982). He is given an opportunity by his good friend, Mickey Morrisey, to morally redeem himself;
not only as a lawyer, but most importantly a person.

I can t do it; I can t take it. Cause if I take the money I m lost. I ll just be a rich ambulance chaser. I

He was compelled to make their wrong right and did so by taking the case to trial. He viewed this as a
way to turn his life and career around by doing what was right, but he discovers quickly that Ed
Concannon was always one step ahead and through many corrosive acts almost derails Frank s case.
The Prince of Darkness Ed Concannon is a distinguished and deceitful lawyer defending the hospital
and doctors Towler and Marks. There would be no one to stand in his way of another victory; he pays
off witnesses and hired Laura Fischer, who sought out Frank romantically to get insight into his
strategies. Laura fell hard for Frank and her deceitful actions became more than she could handle. She
let Ed Concannon know and he said to her:
I m going to tell you something that I learned when I was your age. I had prepared a case and old man
White asked me, How did you do? I said, I did my best. He said, You re not paid to do your best; you
re paid to win! (Mamet, 1982, p. 59)
Ed Concannon viewed his client s as fomites that he could manipulate for profit rather than do what is
right. His approach to law was unethical both morally and professionally, but the most contentious
view of Concannon s ethical behavior was his callous views of justice.

Forrest were meeting up more often, so they were best friends. Forrest described their relationship as

Personal Narrative-Grounded In My Voice
At the start of the semester I had become more aware and grounded in my voice. In my everyday life,
I would notice if I was holding my breath. The reason for this was because over the summer I had to
stand up to one of my shut up judges, my dad. The incident was extremely emotional, and I coped
with it through the use of my actor training; instead of checking out and holding tension, I chose to
breathe deeply and stay grounded. This allowed me to speak up even when I was told to shut up. This
awareness of breath was developed through necessity rather than choice. I had to be strong. My
strength didn t only come from being grounded in my breath, but it also came using breathe to stay
present in the room. The use of breath also allowed me to go into my body and release the build up of
emotions. As a result of these experiences, my voice was able to drop more consistently to my lower
resonator rather than my typical chest voice.
The new drop in my voice had its own challenges as well. One, of course, was to avoid reverting into
old habits. When it comes to voice work, effort should be applied every day. Just because I was
breathing deep one day, doesn t mean I am allowed to stop the next day. Throughout this whole
semester, I ve had to continuously be aware of my voice and breath. The interesting thing was that I
would be holding my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Current Office Of President Of The United States
The Intended Presidency
The current office of president of the United States of America is not exactly what the Founding
Fathers intended. This paper addresses the intentions of what the founders of America wanted, as well
as the authority and duties given to the presidency, which are clearly defined in The Federalist Papers,
as well as the Constitution of the United States.
The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. While
writing under the pseudonym Publius, these three men attempted to convince and urge its readers,
especially those in New York, to ratify the Constitution of the United States. The founders realized
that the best way to promote liberty within America was to separate the political authority into three
independent powers. These three powers of authority maintain a system of checks and balance and
consist of the legislative, judicial and executive branches. The legislative branch makes the laws, the
judicial branch interprets and applies the laws, and the executive branch enforces and carries out the
laws.
When it came to the powers of the executive, the people of America were reluctant and fearful
because they had recently fought to rid themselves of monarchy. In Federalist No. 67, Hamilton
attempts to ease their minds and he defends the office of president. He compares the office to being
more like the governor of New York rather than the king of Great Britain. Hamilton also addresses the
misconception over

The White Heron, By Sarah Orne Jewett
One of my favorite things in any type of literature is the setting. I love how the setting can change and
how the characters change with it. I also enjoy how the setting can give insight to how the author was
feeling and thinking while writing. Settings also help develop the themes of the work and provide the
reader with the ability to understand the story. I have found that I am draw towards stories of which
are set in the natural world. I think this is mostly due to my love of nature and the outdoors. The three
works that I chose to look at are The White Heron , Loveliest of trees, the cherry now , and
Acquainted with the Night . I chose these works not only because they were my favorite but also
because I feel that each of their settings were strongly connected to their themes. The common theme
that connects all of these works together is man in the natural world. ... Show more content on

  • 2. Conflict And Risk In Welcome To The Monkey House By Kurt... Would you take a risk, knowing that there could be potential consequences? Characters always find themselves in risky situations where they have to make a tough choice. Most people aren t daring enough, and they wouldn t gamble with their safety. Risk, and the process of making decisions, is a strategy that is prevalent in Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut uses this strategy to show the conflicts and decisions that characters in his stories had to make. The use of conflict and decisions are used in the stories A Long Walk to Forever and Next Door Doing this reveals an aspects of the characters identity and shows if they are willing to take chances. Love has the power to make you do crazy things. When you re in love with someone it makes your head go crazy, and it makes you act irrationally. Leading you to take risks, and make difficult decisions. The theme of conflict and risk is prevalent in Newt and Catherine s actions in A Long Walk to Forever. Newt and Catherine both had to make a choice and take a risk to be with each other. Newt was sacrificing his job in the Army. Newt exclaimed I m what they call A.W.O.L. (Vonnegut 52) This means that Newt left his position to go back to their town to see Catherine. This is a major risk for Newt to be taking. Leaving your position in the Army, and not taking a leave of absence can lead to a serious punishment. Thirty days in the stockade, that s what one kiss will cost me. (Vonnegut 56) Newt said to ... • 5. Challenge Convention, Change Our World There was much to learn from the collective process of this group project. The journey from planning to the execution of the fundraiser was an interesting one. There were numerous moments where we learned a lot, which were meaningful to us and will probably stay with us for a long time, which were rewarding and gave the group a sense of accomplishment and at the same time there were moments when we were frustrated and felt like everything was failing. Even after this memorable journey of ups and downs we successfully organized the fundraiser and learnt to work as a group. After this management project our group as a whole understood what Clark really stands for: Challenge Convention, Change Our World. In a cliché way, this is true. There are many business schools that have the sole purpose to push their students to become Fortune 500 CEOs or millionaires but Clark focuses on putting a social welfare spin into their business programs, which we truly appreciate even more now. This project has motivated us to contribute even more to society and to integrate ourselves into the community. Some of us also want to work in a non profit. This project inspired us to work for non profit organizations and to continue to work hard to be a successful businessman/woman, but also a compassionate person in society. Working for this project helped us learn a lot of soft as well as hard skills. It helped us develop a discipline of keeping group members updated about the current situations ... • 6. A Christmas Carol A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In this extract we are presented with Scrooge. From the beginning Scrooge is presented as a miser. In the extract we find out that he is an old, rude and ignorant man that doesn t appreciate others around him. Dickens uses different language techniques to describe Scrooges appearance as clear as possible. In the opening paragraph Dickens uses imagery to create a vivid impression of Scrooge. He is described as a tight fisted hand at the grind stone , and this metaphor suggests that Scrooge works hard for his money but is very tight with his money. In the opening lines Dickens includes similes. Hard and sharp as a flint. Flint is a hard stone that was used with iron to create sparks before people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dickens has used verbs used as adjectives when describing Scrooge such as stiffened his gait . The effect of these words makes the reader focus on it more and because it s a long list the reader gets a clear definition of what Scrooge looks like. The adjectives that Dickens uses aren t describing him as being a nice person, from these adjectives you can tell that he is an old and miserable character. Dickens focuses on temperature, when doing this he emphasises how cold hearted Scrooge really is. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could cool him. This shows the reader that Scrooge is as cold as he could ever be and nothing can change him. Dickens also uses a pathetic fallacy, he uses the weather to describe Scrooges character. The heaviest rain, and snow, and hail, and sleet, could boast of the advantage over him in only one respect. Dickens uses the harshest weather to describe him, showing the reader how horrible of a man Scrooge is, using a pathetic fallacy clearly shows the reader how important Scrooges personality is throughout the book. From this extract the reader knows that Scrooge is a negative character. Straight away we know that he has a negative impact on others. Nobody ever stopped him in the street to say, with gladsome looks, My dear Scrooge, how are you? This dialogue never actually happened, this shows that the other characters in the book are too afraid to acknowledge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Raising A Child Discipline Not a single parent will ever say raising a child is easy. In fact, raising a child is, indeed, difficult. It costs money, and a great deal of emotional, psychological and physical energy; just to name a few. Most importantly, parenting never seems to happen as many parents have imagined or wished. However, the intention of this paper is not to greaten the sufferings of the parents by provoking their frustrations. It is rather to provide an insight or an option to make parenting less painful and more enjoyable as it should have been in the first place. Out of many adjustments a parent can make for the betterment of his/her child and their relationship, one major component is discipline. There are already many cases of failures of either over discipling or under discipling a child. However, with a well balanced and prepared methods of disciplining, one s child can maximize to his/her potential. One of the most significant element of discipline is the consistency of rules. Parents should clearly elaborate on what the rules are and both the positive and negative consequences following certain actions. Statistics show that children whose parents are strict with rules are less likely to be noncompliant and to become a juvenile delinquent compared to children raised by parents with a lack of consistent rules. Studies further indicate that children s self esteem and send of self efficacy directly correlate with their family s control in their lives. Such positive influence on the ... • 8. Interview with a Manager | MANAGER INTERVIEW | | | Introduction: Leadership is understanding people and involving them to help you do a job. That takes all of the good characteristics, like integrity, dedication of purpose, selflessness, knowledge, skill, implacability, as well as determination not to accept failure (Burke 1995). The purpose of this paper is to interview a manager from an organization and find out the leadership styles she uses to effectively manage the staff there. This paper also looks at the approach she uses toward employment satisfaction, how she motivates the employees and analyzes the different approaches she uses in her job. If everyone worked equally aiming towards the same goal, the employees will be satisfied with their job and in turn the customers will be happy with the service they received. Laura L. Paglis and Stephen G. Green states in the article, Leadership Self Efficacy and Managers Motivation for Leading Change that leadership efficacy helps in building the relationship of the manager with the employees, gaining their commitment to the organization to change goals that have been set, and overcome any problems that they face along the way. It has been found that managers with higher self efficacy are more likely to initiate efforts into achieving the set goals for the organization (Paglis et al, 2002). Ms. Hill works as a transactional leader in the café as she sets goals and rewards or punishes the employees according to their performance in the job. She helps them achieve their potential by training them to work effectively. However despite his savagery, his views are close to our own. World State removes unhappiness and tragedy from society, however in so doing it sacrifices true individuality. People are happy, but not truly happy. John debates with one of the World Controllers, who claims that, actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the over compensations for misery . The objective of a TMD system is to defend against missile attacks. Such a system might be configured to protect an area as small as a city or port, or as large as several thousand square kilometers. It could provide protection for civilian populations as well as military forces. Providing effective TMD would require a seamless network of early warning sensors, command posts, fire control radars, and anti missile missiles. • 11. Analysis Of The Article Barrel Cleaning Procedures The assigned reading material for this week of CFL 100 is titled Barrel Cleaning Procedures . It is an uncredited article, and appears courtesy of the website accurateshooter.com (http://www.accurateshooter.com/technical articles/barrel cleaning debate/). In the world of firearms, their maintenance can often be a highly debated subject. Such is the care when it comes to bore cleaning. Every shooter has their own methods, and ideas. It can vary from the cleaner, solvent, and brushes used in weapons maintenance. Even while I was serving in the Army, we had the same cleaning standards across the board. However, the weapons would almost never be dressed right dress (uniform) as far as cleaning is concerned. The question poised by the article is How often should you clean the bore? . So they polled manufacturer s, shooters, and a few shooting websites. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had previously heard of some of the tips, while others are brand new to me. I do agree with the recommendation of getting your shots down on paper prior to scrubbing the bore with a brush. I think great care must be used when you use any type of brush on a weapon. This is because of the hostile nature of the brush on the interior of the bore. When I clean my weapons I always use a bore guide to prevent scraping the sides of the bore. Also I prefer to use nylon over brass anytime. It is less abrasive, and likely to cause the damage that brass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Art, Meaning And Artist s Meaning By Daniel O. Nathan When people encounter an artwork and try to understand it, some would refer to the artist s intention, but some may think it is not helpful. This interpretation is concerned as one essential component of aesthetics, both in the philosophical perspective and in common sense. They two kinds of people have their official name for what they believe. The debate here is about whether the artist s intention can influence the interpretation of the art. The intentionalists believe that artist s intention can either determine or impact the interpretation. The anti intentionalists hold the opposite view, artist s intention should not be taken into consideration in interpreting. In the discussion of this, there are some small variations within each side, but we will stay with this definition for now. Daniel O. Nathan is obviously an anti intentionalist. In his paper Art, Meaning and Artist s Meaning , he demonstrated some vulnerabilities of the current anti intentionalism view, and then suggested some new arguments and development on the basis of it. Some of them are not very plausible. I will defend the intentionalist s view by evaluating some of Nathan s suggestions and point out the weakness of it. I would first examine a suggestion regrading the convention of interpreting. The second will be about the paradox of intention. Ideally this analysis would be illuminating to intentionalism view. • 13. Middle School Are Essential For The Success Of Students For me, middle school was probably the most excruciating years of my life. I thought it was only me and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to their bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting my locker combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were gossiping about a friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find it amazing that thirty years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the layout, hallways, lockers, and teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the middle school years are the most influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they wish to become. Middle schools are essential for the success of students because of the unique developmental stages of these students. For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent development is key to understanding the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55) and also teachers need to develop a curriculum that is focused on developing students competence in all subject matter and using their knowledge and available resources to design, implement, and evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell, 2015, p. 145). French Baroque 1600 1750 Europe in the 1600s was at the end of Counter Reformation, and as the political and cultural shifts took place, we begin to see art, particularly in France, influenced more and more, by the ruling monarchy. The transition from Mannerism into Baroque is not clear, but eventually the arts started to adopt a new look. And feel. Paintings started to become more exuberant, dynamic and ornamented. The scale of work produced during this time increased dramatically. Where Mannerism marked a departure from classical and realistic norms, Baroque becomes a return to these norms, but with an emotional undertow and visual tension. The light is always obscured by another element in the painting, which gives it a more dramatic, more human feel, with greater depth. The emotional effect of this is very intimate and human. The duplicitous nature of shadow and light in a La Tour painting could be seen as a metaphor for the good and bad contained within human nature. It is also vague enough to be open to multiple interpretations. In any interpretation this duality is almost given more importance than the subject matter. The personality of Nicolas Poussin was contrary to La Tour, though both were very rational and humanistic. Poussin sought to enter into the person of his subject, to become immersed in psychological analysis. He combines his love of virtue and his love of landscape by placing tragic figures in richly interesting and complexly constructed, heroic landscapes. He produced some of the most demanding, yet satisfying landscape paintings in western culture. He believed passionately that the disposition of the painting as a whole could be constructed to covey a mood or emotion. He also had a unique combination of pagan and Christian themes, often giving a poetic treatment to subjects from classic mythology and ancient history. Poussin was a classicist for whom the aesthetic values of antiquity represented not only a formal ideal, but also a moral standard, a way conceiving a form that cannot be separated from the good and true. • 15. The Advantages Of Teaching Technology And The Benefits Of... Benefits of Technology Children today are impacted by technology; some people believe that technology can be beneficial in a child s life and others are strictly against it. Though, everyone is accustomed to their own beliefs when it comes to raising a child, and how they want their child to be educated. The main argument is should children or adults be involved with technology, and if so how much technology should they encounter within the day? There is a wide variety of educational and non educational resources that technology offers to teachers, parents, and students, in moderation these resources can be beneficial to people educationally and socially. Schools today are trying their best to stay up to date with the latest and greatest technology, from Smart Boards to lending each student their own laptop or iPad. In the classroom teachers use the technology within their lesson plans, but when planning they should make sure that the programs that they include will engage students, and will also involve interaction between the students and program (Stošić, L). Incorporating technology in the classroom is a great educational tool for teachers to use as part of their teaching methods. While including educational technology methods in the classroom it will enhance students learning skills and their cognitive characteristic (Stošić, L). With the right teaching methods and reliable educational interactive learning programs, students are more excited and motivated about learning, because of the involvement of today s modern technology. Outside of school, parents have the option to entertain and at the same time educate their children by using technology. There are some apps intended for kindergarten through twelfth grade, that parents can download to their device and can be used for educational purposes. Most of the educational apps support the single person use of interactive learning materials, simulations and learning games (Leinonen, T). Since apps include multiple games to get children engaged in different educational lessons, they are more likely to retain more knowledge of the content being taught. Educational apps are a great source for reviewing what they child has learned or is learning in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. All Quiet on the Western Front All Quiet on the Western Front A Book Review Professor s Comments: This is a good example of a book review typically required in history classes. It is unbiased and thoughtful. The Student explains the book and the time in which it was written in great detail, without retelling the entire story... a pitfall that many first time reviewers may experience. All Quiet on the Western Front is the story of Paul Baumer s service as a soldier in the German army during World War I. Paul and his classmates enlist together, share experiences together, grow together, share disillusionment over the loss of their youth, and the friends even experience the horrors of death together. Though the book is a novel, it gives the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story is as relevant today as it was when published in 1929 because it is the story of more than war; it is the story of humanity. The book begins with the death of Paul s friend. The men have, by this time, become almost desensitized to death. Kemmerich (the dying friend) owns a fine pair of English airman s boots. It is a forgone conclusion that Kemmerich will no longer require them. It is not petty greed, but pragmatism, which drives Muller s desire to have the boots. The troops own equipment is ragged and worn, making anything in serviceable condition an improvement on what they have. As we find out in the story, not only are the soldiers boots worn out, but the artillery of the German army is also worn out. This may symbolize that not only are the soldiers and equipment at the front worn out, but so is Germany as a whole. Germany was worn out and had no idea what was going to happen, just as the soldiers had no idea where the artillery shells would land. Paul reminisces about his days in school and how he and his friends believed the indoctrination they had received from their schoolmaster. However, after experiencing war, Paul questions the fervent nationalism of the Germans. What has nationalism done for Germany other than destroy the country? In blindly following the words of his elders, Paul has achieved nothing except to become an old man at the age of twenty. Not only does Paul now question his schoolmaster s reasoning, but he also ... One of them is that after falling into the crisis the weaknesses of the economy gets exposed. These weaknesses may or may not be the reasons for the emanated crisis but surly they now grab the eyeballs. Due to the crisis the policy reforms get speeded up and measures are taken to tackle the weakness. In situations where financial deficit take place austerity measures work. These measures have great impact as the spending of the government reduces the fiscal deficit to huge extent. This is what the Greece policy reforms are working at. During crisis, the measures aim to immediate relief and also long term solutions to current problems. This kind of strategy has a great impact. To provide immediate relief some stress is put on the economy but the long term now looks safe. In the long run when the economy recovers the stress is relieved. This kind of policy reforms was used in America in the last recession. The idea was to print money and inject them into the economy to boost spending; when the economy would recover the policy would be to draw the excess money. The idea here was not a defensive move but more of an aggressive policy reform. It has been seen throughout history that protectionist attitude leads to aggregating the crisis and taking it into deeper zones of trouble while aggressive reforms boost the recovery process. • 22. The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao Analysis Anti feminist views through the novel of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao In recent discussions, the novels The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, has given rise to a controversial question: whether women should be labeled as incomplete and an uncertainty without men. At the same time, some have argued and questioned the intention of the two authors i.e., whether they hold any respect for women, at all. In fact, there has been a collective attempt to convey that men can control women, and by controlling them (women), men are able to regulate love itself, and keep them protected , as can be seen through these authors methodical choice of words such as bitch , raging , useless woman , fea , idiota , vividness and worthless . Moreover, though initially it may appear that both aforementioned authors have taken a defensive stance when they label women as imperfect human beings, setting the boundaries, and painting women as a disparaging object, in reality, however, the said authors are heavily afflicted by thoughts of death, rendering them to be in a constant internal conflict amongst themselves, in search of love, leaving us to further question whether their hostility towards women is from an obdurate standpoint, wounded by personal experience, or are they just merely trying to hypnotize their readers by confining the latter to only see 20th century s society through his eyes. In this regard, my personal view is that not only do this novel shed light on the past and immortality, but it is also undeniable that the idea of time and death constantly haunt the author, adversely influencing his personal fears, rendering the latter to be subjective. Nonetheless, though it is conceded that Diaz is power hungry for a superior status, i.e., dominance and power over his lovers, I believe that the author finds comfort when he is able to vent out his actual feelings through the novel, using ambiguous words, to channel his grievance as an act of voice against his individual circumstance, the latter as it was experienced in his conservative era. In fact, the author has been open to criticism and subject of much debate in recent times. As Diaz says, The dyad of Yunior and Oscar drives much of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the late 1800 s, one could only imagine how difficult it must have been to lift oneself out of poverty; and for the Snopes, there was presumably no hope for advancement from the start. Perhaps this is his chance to get an education and become something more than just a farmhand? Despite the fact that Sarty is a starving, vulnerable, uneducated ten year old, and the idea of him being alone in the world is quite intimidating, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. After all, he is becoming a man, and that is apparent as the story progresses. A simple example of Sarty s maturity is the change from calling Abner , Paps , to calling him, Father , towards the end of the story. The informal, paps , indicates a loving relationship between a father and child, while the formal, father , is often used by those who are more mature. • 24. The Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The End Of The... Reconstruction began early in 1865 after the end of the civil war when the South was undergoing political, social and economic upheavals (Foner 15). The South embraced Union methods of total wars that led to damage to their land and crops. As a result, many people died while others were captured as slaves due to the huge drought and inflation facing their state, while their masters fled oncoming unions. From these losses, policymakers by 1865 in Washington had no other choice rather than reconstruction. Reconstruction involved several initiatives including abolishment and transformation of the Southern society, recovering the Southern Unions and most importantly the enactment of an assimilation legislation program that would aid in favoring the freed blacks into the American social and economic system. President Lincoln had pardoned reconstruction of the South long before in1863 two years before the war ended (Kennedy and Cohen 44). This was known as the ten percent plan that supported one of the initiatives. This plan allowed the Southern state to be assimilated to the union after every ten percent of the population. Later in the year 1865 president Lincoln got assassinated and Andrew Johnson succeeded him. President Johnson carried on with the ten percent plan. Both presidents shared a similar interest during their reign which was to abolish slavery before joining the union. The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Jewish Movement Starting in the late 19th century, the Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a long standing clash between the Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs due to several significant events. The Israeli palestinian conflict is one that goes way back to the time of the Old Testament. The land known as Israel, was given to the jewish people by God through Abraham. God Promised to give Abraham s descendants the land eternally. Throughout the thousand of years, thousands of Arabs have moved to those lands which they called Palestine. When it comes to whom should own the land, both sides have credible arguments. The Jews say that it is written in the Bible while the Palestinian Arabs say that they have ruled the land for thousand of years. The Palestinian Arabs are also the majority of the population in that region. In the late 19th century, Theodor Herzl founded a group of Jews called the Zionists. According the the Encyclopedia Britannica, Zionism is the Jewish nationalist movement that has had as its goal the creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews. The Zionist immediately began to relocate european Jews to four main cities in Palestine. These cities were Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberias. The reason for this was because over the summer I had to stand up to one of my shut up judges, my dad. The incident was extremely emotional, and I coped with it through the use of my actor training; instead of checking out and holding tension, I chose to breathe deeply and stay grounded. This allowed me to speak up even when I was told to shut up. This awareness of breath was developed through necessity rather than choice. I had to be strong. My strength didn t only come from being grounded in my breath, but it also came using breathe to stay present in the room. The use of breath also allowed me to go into my body and release the build up of emotions. As a result of these experiences, my voice was able to drop more consistently to my lower resonator rather than my typical chest voice. The new drop in my voice had its own challenges as well. This paper addresses the intentions of what the founders of America wanted, as well as the authority and duties given to the presidency, which are clearly defined in The Federalist Papers, as well as the Constitution of the United States. The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. While writing under the pseudonym Publius, these three men attempted to convince and urge its readers, especially those in New York, to ratify the Constitution of the United States. The founders realized that the best way to promote liberty within America was to separate the political authority into three independent powers. These three powers of authority maintain a system of checks and balance and consist of the legislative, judicial and executive branches. The legislative branch makes the laws, the judicial branch interprets and applies the laws, and the executive branch enforces and carries out the laws. When it came to the powers of the executive, the people of America were reluctant and fearful because they had recently fought to rid themselves of monarchy.
