Political Ideas Stemming from Darwinism
At the turn of the 20th century American citizens were faced with many inequalities and progressivism
emerged as an evolutionary political response. People who considered themselves progressives
championed many different types of changes but the fundamental tenet of any progressive was the
idea that the central role of any government was to improve the quality of life for everyday citizens.
Before progressives became a powerful political force the main political ideas stemmed from
Darwinist views, that is to say that the survival of the fittest was the natural order of life. This
Darwinian way of thinking applied to all aspects of life, social, political, and economic. The reasoning
was that if good was to be done for the common man than it should be done at the behest of private
influence. Progressives needed a strong leader to support their positions and were it not for the
untimely assassination of President McKinley they might have had to wait years longer. President
McKinley s successor, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., was exactly the strong leader that they needed to help
combat the inequalities of the day.
Theodore, or Teddy , was not alone in influencing the growth of progressive influence. Many of the
inequalities would have never been brought to light, and the progressive movement would have been
hindered, had it not been for journalists exposing what was going on. Teddy popularized the term
Muckraker , used to refer to these investigative journalists, by mentioning

Informative Essay On Black Tea
Over the years, coffee has been termed to be harmful to health, and more people have turned to tea.
Globally, tea is the second most commonly consumed beverage after water, with black tea constituting
75 percent. All tea originates from the herb Camellia sinensis. Despite a lot of criticism surrounding
caffeinated drinks, when it comes to black tea, it might be a healthy choice as some studies have
shown.
Black tea is made through withering, rolling and fully oxidizing the leaves. Before the final heating
process, black tea leaves are fermented. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, amino acids, fluoride,
carbohydrates, manganese, proteins, potassium, xanthine, guanine, and trace minerals. It also contains
tannins that give it astringency and catechins which are powerful antioxidants that destroy cancer
causing cells and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
There are various health benefits that are associated with taking black tea regularly due to the presence
of multiple polyphenols and antioxidants. Black tea contains explicitly complex flavonoids
polyphenols that assist in preventing diseases. Theaflavin and thearubigin are among the flavonoid
that acts as strong antioxidants. Thearubigin gives black tea its red color. Studies have shown that
thearubigins benefit the mind and body in various ways. To harness the power of black tea, researchers
advise that, milk or sugar should not be added.

Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of...
When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read this
semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of
Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself perfectly to a
close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in Blake s volumes,
Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience versions) demonstrated this
duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same, however, the nature of the subject is
drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem
titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday. This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in
London, which was held on the first Thursday in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special
service was held for the poorest children in London. These children would be brought to the church by
their parish officers, serving approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this
procession of children to the cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes
towards the event itself. These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in
content to two drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a
picture of a bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the

The Controversy Over Internet Censorship Essay
The Controversy Over Internet Censorship
For many people, using the Internet has become practically a new way of life, especially for college
students and the like. Various types of information can be accessed at the touch of a button: anything
from encyclopedias, to surveys and essays, to articles from magazines, and adult sites. Anyone who
pays for their Internet service is usually offered space for his or her own web page, and even many
free services provide space for personal web pages. All of this available space can be used for any
number of reasons: posting newsletters for community groups, advertising for businesses, or just
voicing one s opinion. For those of us who know how to use this information, or at least how ... Show

Others feel that the government should step in and penalize anyone whose writings could be offensive.
Many of these people have expressed their opinions on the Internet, and have made several good
points.
Legislation on Internet Censorship In a statement made by Senator Leahy in January 1997 suggesting
legislation to repeal the Internet Censorship Provisions of the Communications Decency Act. The
Communications Decency Act penalizes anyone who sends inappropriate material to a minor, or posts
these materials where a minor might see it, with two year jail terms and large fines (Leahy, 2).
Senator Leahy states, The first amendment to our Constitution expressly states that Congress shall
make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Leahy also expresses his fears that other members of
Congress may not realize that the people at risk of committing a felony under the CDA are not child
pornographers, sex offenders, and purveyors of obscene material. Legislation has already been passed
in order to prevent the distribution of these kinds of materials to minors (Leahy, 1). Banning indecent
material from the Internet is like using a meat cleaver to deal with the problems better addressed with
a scalpel, due to information assessed by one court estimating that the percentage of Internet addresses
providing sexually explicit content would be well less than one tenth of 1

Essay On Ultra Orthodox
If you would be forced into the military you would probably not be happy, but what if you grew up
knowing you had to serve. This is the life of an average Israeli. Now imagine now that you have a
friend and he is more religious than you and because he is religious he does not have to serve at all.
You would probably not feel so happy about it. This is the issue that was discussed in Israel earlier last
year. Israel is one of the few countries in the world with a mandatory peacetime draft. Every Jewish
eighteen year old in Israel must serve in the army. For the longest time though ultra orthodox were
exempt from serving, as they would be studying in yeshivas. The big argument is can you force people
to serve in the army if their religious beliefs contradict it. As for many topics in Judaism there are
many answers. Within different categories of Judaism there are different answers, even between the
same categories there are different answers. The ultra orthodox have the most to lose from this
mandatory military service. Some ultra orthodox believe that there ... Show more content on

One would be protecting your soul and body, so putting yourself in an army has a chance of you
getting hurt. Another important value is having a moral responsibility beyond the law. If the ultra
orthodox truly believe that morally that studying torch is more important than defending where they
live it could be a point for them. There is also the belief in Judaism about freedom. The freedom to
choose your own life is very important and forcing people into the army gets rid of that freedom. Jews
are also supposed to teach so if the men of the ultra orthodox are going to school to become rabbis and
then to teach there community they would be doing the right thing. One important value though is not
to stand idly by your neighbor s blood. While Israel is not in a war at this time, if they were to get into

Copyright Infringement And Intellectual Property

Raja Vijay Kumar Mulleti
INTRODUCTION: In order to understand the concept of copyright infringement first we need to
know about intellectual property and laws that are under intellectual property. Intellectual property is
the property that is the invention or a creative work by one s own idea or knowledge. There is law that
protects this intellectual property by giving some restrictions to the persons who use it; these laws are
called copyright laws. When a person who is using the creative work of another person and when that
person crosses any limit and opposes copyright law, then it is called copyright infringement. Some
cases that are considered as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1662 act had been omitted and ignored in 1695, which led to an end for government censorship
and monopoly rule, and in 1710, the parliament made a bill by building the Statute of Anne. This
statue of Anne was to address various major and minor concerns of booksellers and publisher in
England. The act of the year 1710 had set various principles about the authors on the ownership of the
copyrighted content and introduced a constant term on protection of works that are copyrighted and

the copyrighted content was not upon expiration date). The rule that prevented the monopoly market

Analysis Of Al Lowe And Sierra On-Line
Al Lowe and Sierra On Line released Larry Laffer s first adventure in 1987. The premise of the Larry
games is one most of us guys can relate too: hook up with some smoking hot women. In 2013 an
enhanced version was released after a successful kickstarter campaign. The game has underwent quite
the graphical overhaul in this enhanced release, however most of the original concepts remain intact.
And that is a good thing, because Leisure Suit Larry is a hilarious game. Al Lowe has created a game
with a juvenile sense of humor that dares you keep a straight face. The, quite frankly, ridiculous
situations Larry stumbles into sticks with you after finishing the game. The puzzles are excellently
rooted in reality. Larry needs wine and condoms for

Compare And Contrast Plague Of Athens And The Plague
The Plague of Athens, taking place in 429 B.C.E., is the first mass killing plague known to historians
today. However, this doesn t mean that it wasn t as dangerous as plagues later on in history. In total
100,000 people died which is equivalent to more than one third of the Greece population. In the book
The Plague , the city of Oran is overrun by a deadly disease. In both the Plague of Athens and the
novel The Plague by Albert Camus, similarities occurred such as the diffusion of the disease, the
symptoms and causes, and the social change. In both plagues, rats played a big part in spreading the
disease. In the two separate plagues rats were one of the known reasons for the start of the plague. As
stated in an article by the New World Encyclopedia, In addition, crowding caused by the influx of
refugees into the city led to inadequate food and water supplies and an increase in insects, lice, rats,
and waste. ( Plague of Athens ). Not only were the rats spreading the disease to fellow rodents, but
they spread it to people also. This was the main reason why both plagues spread so fast. In the novel,
the rats were found before the main disease started. The author wrote, He saw a big rat coming toward
him from the dark end of the passage. It moved uncertainly, and its fur was sopping wet. The animal
stopped and seemed to be trying to get its balance, moved forward again towards the doctor, halted
again, then spun around on itself with a little squeal and fell on its

The Wilderness And Environment In Ancient Epics
The significance of the wilderness and environment in the three ancient texts, the Ramayana, the Epic
of Gilgamesh and the Odyssey is indisputable. It goes beyond just being the backdrop for the action in
the epics and instead, influences the action in some way. For this very reason, the environment
becomes as important as the central characters in the epics. The Ramayana s Cedar forest was a den of
mystical creatures, sages and demons that created challenges for the hero. It occasionally altered the
character s behaviors and tested their will to follow their dharma, which is an individual s duty
fulfilled by observance of custom or law ( dharma ). In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the wilderness serves
as a frightening force for the hero to tame and civilize, resulting in it being one of the themes carried
out through the narrative. The sea in the Odyssey hurled obstacles at the hero and his men that they
had to fight through on their journey back home and was representative of the Ancient Greeks way of
living under the influence of the gods. These environments, no matter how distant in cultural context,
all have a significant effect on their respective characters and story lines.
Pancavati, which is the forest in the Ramayana, is the place where Rama, the prince of Ayodya,
withdraws to after being exiled from his kingdom.. Throughout the epic, the forest is often viewed as
an antithesis of the kingdom, where all tradition is has to self imposed because there is no norm to

The Government Of India With The British Essay
There is a natural propensity to evaluate the Government of India with the British. But Indian
Parliament and parliamentary institutions and procedures are not a copy of the Westminster system.
There are fundamental differences between their system and Indian system. Democracy extends way
beyond elections. However, the holding of transparent, credible and accountable elections is important
for any democratic country and election observers make a significant contribution in this process. In
this essay, I will be heading a team of British officials who will be observing the Parliamentary
election process in India in May 2014. Being from Britain, we will witness a lot of similarities
between the political systems of India, however there will also be some differences, like India being a
federal republic and a parliamentary democracy at the same time while Britain practices constitutional
monarchy. Furthermore, India has a president and a prime minister, whereas, although the head of
state in Britain is in the form of a prime minister, it also has a symbolic royalty head in the form of a
ruling monarch. Generally the elections in India has been quite peaceful, well organized but quite
unpredictable at the same time, especially with the growing influence of upcoming parties.
English Parliament has developed through somewhere in the range of three hundred years of history.
In Britain, it can be the main establishment which practices sovereign forces and on which there are

James VI I s Desire to Create a Perfect Union Between Scotland and England
After succeeding the English thrown in 1603, James VI I of Scotland and England aimed to create the
perfect union . In 1604 he proclaimed himself king of Britain and attempted full unification of the
nations. This was to involve uniting the Scottish and English parliaments, the church and the legal
systems. It also included free trade, repeal of hostile laws and the renewal of borders. James s plan to
create a perfect union was not to be successful for numerous reasons. This essay will discuss the

Scotland was, after all, a poor nation and full unification would provide the benefits of, strength, peace
and security for Britain and he himself would be known for his greatness on a European level.[3]
James somewhat achieved this as, French and Venetian ambassadors were impressed…by the extent
of the king s authority .[4]
James was determined to succeed with the full unification of Scotland and England. In April 1604, the
Commons were asked to consider his new title as that of king of Britain. Their objection to do so
deeply offended James as he considered it his right. Decisions were delayed because the union was
imperfect and many were unclear as to exactly what it would involve. Commons were weary of James
because he intervened in such a way they had not been used to. As he made use of his full powers,
some were classifying it as, unwarranted interference in their affairs .[5] With the continual
postponing of the acknowledgement of James s position, he exercised his right of royal prerogative
and proclaimed himself king of Great Britain in October 1604.
His intentions of full unification were made known in his persuasive opening speech to Parliament
when he said, What God hath conjoined let no man separate. I am the husband and all the whole isle is
my lawful wife. I am the head and it is the body. I am the shepherd and it is the flock. I hope,

International Trade Development During The 19th Century
In the pre 16th century, trade played a major role during the mercantilist period. It marked the
beginning of economic development through exchange of goods and culture between continents.
According to Peter Stabel; Greve Anke and Bruno Blonde (2000) book, International Trade in Low
Countries, the trade allowed the emergence of the global market thus enhanced economic regions
interconnection and continents interdependence. In the 16th century, trade constituted a portion of
global trade but developed disproportionately in the early modern period. National markets became
increasingly interconnected, thus bringing various innovations in transportation, infrastructure, and
energy supply areas. The transition from individual manufacturing to the mass invention and
convergence in prices of materials made transactions significantly easier, thus accelerating integration.
The European countries dominated in international trade development during the 16th century. Later
on North America emerged and created a stronger global economic influence and in the 21th century,
Asian states especially China also gained influence by becoming USA creditors thus acting as the
current century economic growth engine (Peter, Bruno, Anke, 2000). As evidence in Walter Rolf
(2013) article, the establishment of new territories and population movement increased due to
economic expansion during the early days. People termed land as an important resource during those
early modern periods. The land

Methodology Qualitative And Qualitative Research
Methodology qualitative(300/5)(382/ )
In research the two main used approaches are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research
represents the study of perceptions, emotions and experiences in the direction of understanding the
human behaviour therefore from a subjective perspective ( R). On the other side the quantitative
research is expressed numerical, measurable, appropriate for statistics defined as being objective and
can be used for general public (R). Another difference, according to Moule (2015) is that qualitative
approach is usually using a smaller sampling size for the study than the quantitative approach. As the
qualitative research is inductive, the process is orientated and using a holistic view, allows the

Validity suggests the ability and degree of the method to measure the concept. More specific for the
qualitative study, the criteria refers to credibility and trustworthiness. Credibility is a principle of
trustworthiness and indicates the ability to answer the study question due to the quality of the research
undertaken and reflecting the participants perceptions rather than the researcher own opinion and that
the findings are trustworthy (Lincoln Guba 1985, cited in Corbin Strauss 2015).
Research design/methods/data collection(100/1)(143/3)
Focus group was the chosen data collection design by the PBL group. Polit Beck (2017) argued that he
benefits of this data collection include: cost effective and time effective; the participants feel
empowered which encourage them to express freely their emotions and opinions therefore is enhanced
the collection of rich data. The limitations associated with focus groups indicates to bias potential; the
level of confidence of some of the participants to express themselves in front of others or the
possibility to adopt the group think or the most powerful and vocal participant rather than expressing
own perception (Ellis 2016). Neuman (2014) believes that mixing the participants with different status
may impact on the study outcome as participants are more confident if they are sharing a similar
background. Therefore, it was decided that the participants will be split in two focus groups: students

The Impact Of Sexualization Of Women In Advertising
Women have always faced oppression and unequal rights. In the early 1800s, women were treated as
slaves and their purpose was to please the men in their lives (Smith, 2002). In the 1930s, Kellogg
released an advertisement stating, so the harder a wife works, the cuter she looks! which sexualized
women for their husband s enjoyment (Heilpern, 2016). One would think over seven decades things
would change, but unfortunately, similarities from both the 1800s and the 1930s are still present today.
These similarities are present in advertising today as women are sexualized and demoralized for men s
enjoyment. Portraying women as objects to satisfy men s needs contributes to a decreased view of
women in society and for the female population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Denbeau (2011, p. 55) highlights a study that looked at the progression of exploitation of women in
advertising between 1983 and 2003. There was a substantial increase in the sexualization of women
throughout this period and they hypothesized that by 2013 this would increase again (Denbeau, 2011,
p. 55). Looking at advertisements between 2003 and 2013, one could say that their hypothesis was
correct and their study findings are valid that overtime advertising will continue to sexualize women
more explicitly.
How Companies Get Away with Sexualization in Advertising At the turn of the 20th century, gender
stereotyping women in advertising became a popular marketing technique. As previously outlined, the
stereotyping and sexualization of women continued into the 21st century and is stronger than ever. But
how can companies continue with the blatant sexualization and victimization of women for over a
century? By incorporating humour into advertising, people often overlook the sexism presented in the
advertisement. Peters, Holmgreen, and Oswald (2015, p. 162) highlight that by mixing humour and
sexist material together in advertisements, the intention is to evoke benign laughter , not to promote
prejudice . Humour takes on a role in advertisements to pull consumer s attention away from the
derogatory and demoralizing content depicted. A façade has been created

Comparison Of Nibelungenlied Savagery And Good Manners
In The Nibelungenlied savagery and good manners have an integral role in the interactions between
characters and the epic as a whole. Proper etiquette is emphasized within the medieval culture, it is
used as a sign of respect and admiration to one s superior or equal. However, Savagery is often either
celebrated or discounted completely. There are many instances within the epic when an event or a
character s actions could be perceived as ignoble or undignified, usually, such acts are frowned upon
in medieval literature. However, in The Nibelungenlied these acts are not only acceptable, in certain
instances, they are even praised. Good manners are often used by characters within the epic in order to
gain some sort of political or strategical advantage. When Siegfried first ventures to Burgundy, he
immediately rushes into kingdom and challenges king Gunther. Instead of participating in war,
Gunther decides that appeasing Siegfried and making an ally of him would be significantly more
productive than battling him and risk losing the lives of many of his men. Gunther appeases Siegfried
by being well mannered and gracious towards him. Gunther offered The best possible quarters...for
Siegfried s squires...Siegfried was a most welcome guest among the Burgundians (31). While Gunther

Moralism In The Cask Of Amontillado
Looking at The Cask of Amontillado one can usually see the issue and theme of Montresor s rationale
in executing Fortunato. The tone of the story is that of the narrator being confused and angry for the
blame of his vindictive homicide that has denied him peace and questions the morality of his actions.
His uneasy inner voice has turned into a sort of retaliation for his wrongdoing, and the blessing In

insight that his own spirit is cursed by mortal sin. Fortunato and Montresor were political adversaries

products offered in that fashion, then the store would not be a success. . . . Carla Hills, United States
Trade Representative, February 1990 In early 1991, Toys R Us seemed poised on the brink of a high
profile entry into the world s second largest toy market. A category killer that enjoyed phenomenal
success in the United States and Europe, Toys R Us had tried for several years to crack the lucrative

Toys, he therefore decided, created a far superior business opportunity. After studying the U.S.
discounter Korvettes, Lazarus decided to experiment with a self service, supermarket style format. In
his new Children s Supermarket, he vowed to undercut competition and have a bigger, better selection
than any single toy store. Discounting had arrived in the toy business. Children s Supermarket quickly
grew into a thriving chain of four stores, renamed Toys R Us after Lazarus decided he needed better
signs with shorter words, bigger letters. 4 He sold the chain to Interstate Stores in 1966 for $7.5
million, retaining a seat on the company s Board. When Interstate folded in 1978, Lazarus rescued his
company, determined to build it into a nationwide chain. Over the next decade, Toys R Us sales
compounded by 26% per year, with sales productivity per square foot double that of the retailer s
nearest competitor. 5 By 1988, Toys R Us had captured 20% of the U.S. toy market, with sales
surpassing the $4 billion mark.6 Sourcing directly from manufacturers, the chain used its huge buying
clout to offer goods at 10 20% discounts compared to smaller toy retailers. Year round advertising
campaigns encouraged consumers to buy toys at any time, instead of just at Christmas. A typical Toys

Theme Of Stockings In Death Of A Salesman
Those Damned Stockings!
You didn t love her. You just didn t want to be alone. Or maybe, maybe she was good for your
ego...but you didn t love her. Because you don t destroy people you love
Grey s Anatomy
In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Miller uses many objects and events to represent bigger ideas
and themes to help ground the story and make it less confusing. Many of these objects could represent
multiple ideas within the story, and it is up to the reader to interpret what they believe the objects
represent. One such object is stockings. Miller uses Linda s stockings to represent her love for Willy
and how it is ripped and torn but mended just like fragile silk stockings. There is the odd resistance

WILLY: I have no stockings here!
THE WOMAN: You had two boxes of size nine sheers for me, and I want them! WILLY: Here, for
God s sake, will you get outa here!
THE WOMAN (enters holding a box of stockings) (Miller (FIND PAGE NUMBER)
The Woman wants Willy to show that he is willing to ignore Linda s care in order to be with her.
Miller represents this through the stockings. He gives the Woman countless of Linda s stockings, and
in that abandons Linda for another woman. He later regrets this and wants to deny it happened and
pretend he did nothing wrong. However he cannot change the fact that their relationship was damaged
because of his actions and he cannot take back what he did to Linda.
Linda is often seen repairing her expensive, silk stockings whenever there is something damaging to
their relationship hinted at or when she has a fight with Willy. One such example is after the long
scene with Willy s mistress:
And thanks for the stockings. I love a lot of stockings...
(The Woman bursts out laughing, and Linda s laughter blends in. The Woman disappears into the dark.
Now the area at the kitchen table brightens. Linda is sitting where she was at the kitchen table, but
now is mending a pair of her silk stockings.) LINDA: You are, Willy. The handsomest man. You ve
got no reason to feel that... WILLY (corning out of The Woman s dimming area and going over to
Linda):

IHSDA Dance
Hard Work Pays Off
Our coaches had told us since the beginning that the months and months we would spend preparing
for one particular day would all be worth it in the end. Taking place at New Castle Fieldhouse in early
March 2015, I competed in the IHSDTA Dance team competition with my fellow teammates and
members of the NHS dance team. We walked into the vast, expansive Fieldhouse knowing that it was
the largest High School Fieldhouse in the Nation. The anticipation in the air was electric and full of
excited chatter of girls who had been preparing for months for this one day... actually for these two
minutes.
We were a pom and hip hop team. Because this was Noblesville s first year competing, opposing
teams arrived with low expectations for us, and they also showed a polite disregard for our team. I was
to dance that day, but only once. I understood the privilege, for I was a freshman on a varsity team.
And though I was used to performing, I was not prepared for the criticizing looks, ... Show more

The fact that I was not dancing had somehow made me responsible for providing helpful criticism. I
was afraid I might have forgotten to tell her something important, that they may not look together on
the court, but it seems as though I had forgotten that birds of feather flock together. On the court, the
music started, and they danced perfectly. They look so good! How come they don t practice like that? I
wondered. They performed, were given a loud applause, then ran off the court. Ten minutes later, we
were already getting ready for the next dance, the one I was to perform.
I m going to play the music once, and you re going to close your eyes and think about the dance.
Ready? Kaitlyn said while we were still waiting in the dressing

Manufacturing Execution Systems Join The Cyber Physical...
Manufacturing becomes more and more complicated when production series are short, products are
diversified and production technology is variable. In the case of short series production,
Manufacturing Execution Systems join the cyber physical part of production with virtual
manufacturing services and business level operations. Unfortunately, most of the existing architectures
follow the paradigm of hierarchical MES placed between the control systems and business application
level. They have fixed interfaces to production facilities and a predefined set of services. The main
argument in favour of such a solution is the global optimisation of manufacturing operations but in the
case of highly dynamic, short series production, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The traditional design of manufacturing control systems does not allow for rapidly expanding options
in materials, processes, interfaces to product models that have a number of variants. Holons allow the
implementation of production variants and the rapid reconfiguration of the machines and robots.
Proposed MES architecture supports the capability of production systems. Demand chain management
will allow for a significant reduction in waste and will increase the profitability of production systems.
Flexible production planning will effect in reducing the setup and changeover time and costs. The
strategic target of proposed MES solution is one piece flow production that means the feasibility of
short series production (up to one element) by using the production lines designed formerly for mass
manufacturing.
Like all industrial solutions, the proposed MES also has to fit the existing standards accepted by
industry. The authors define an MES functional model that complies with the third part of the widely
accepted ANSI/ISA 95 (IEC/ISO 62264) standard. Since ISA95 represents a hierarchical vision of
MES, this model has been adapted to the heterarchical agent based architecture. ISA 95 defines the
workflow and information exchange for Manufacturing Operations Management. This includes the
structure of manufacturing management functions and their interactions with business systems. ISA95

Communication Theory Essay The Rebound
The Rebound is a romantic comedy movie, which described about a single mum, Sandy, discovered
her husband s infidelity video, then she decided to divorced with him, and moved to another city with
her two kids so as to start over again. She got an apartment that was above a coffee house. She met
Aram; a guy who only 25 years old and work in that coffee house, then they started befriends and
knew more each other. Not long after she was moving into the apartment and started hiring Aram to be
her nanny while she took on work for the first time. He started to have an inseparable relationship with
her children day by day; and have a chemistry effect to ferment between Aram and Sandy. After that
they became a couple and have a sexual intimate interaction. Notwithstanding, two of them
encountered many difficulties; and the biggest concern was that they have an age difference of 15
years. At the end five years later, they broke the rules, ignored the age problem and back together.
In this essay, I am going to use The Rebound movie to go deeply in order to discuss the Social

In The Promise Of A Pencil
In the Promise of a Pencil book, by Adam Braun, he explains or gives stories about his journey in

describes and his experiences towards each of them. I think that the themes that relate to me in my

yourself with those who make your better . I can identify with these two mantras because in my life I

joining my first college club and I ll be surrounding myself with people that would help me grow. In
doing so, I feel like I would become a better person in a social sense because I`ll be able to interact
with people without being shy. Another way that I plan to get out of my comfort zone is by
participating in more class discussions, which I already started, doing in my ENC class though not as

Steve Jobs And The History Of Apple
Everyone knows about Steve Jobs and the history of Apple. Apple is a worldwide known business that
is arguably one of the most popular in the technology industry today. Things like the IPhone, IPod,
and Macbook are some of the most popular products but that is not where things started. Steve Jobs
was one of the entrepreneurs that started apple and is the most widely known. Things did not always
look so pretty however. Steve Jobs was a good friend of Steve Wozniak. They joined together to create
a computer. They were inspired to build something all people could afford. In the article, History of
Apple, 1976 2016: The story of Steve Jobs and the company he founded it says, Jobs met Woz at the

not have to be expensive. It proved that computers could be affordable for all. Wozniak was happy
with what he had produced, although Jobs saw otherwise. The Woz we know now has a larger than life
personality he s funded rock concerts and shimmied on Dancing with the Stars but, as he told the
Sydney Morning Herald, I was shy and felt that I knew little about the newest developments in
computers. He came close to ducking out altogether, and giving the Club a miss. Let s be thankful he
didn t. Jobs saw the computer, recognised its brilliance, and sold his VW microbus to help fund its
production. Wozniak sold his HP calculator, and together they founded Apple Computer Inc on 1 April

the ability to what we see Apple is today. Although Apple does make many profits, it has succeeded in

Pimavanserin
The classifications of serotonin receptors, as well as drug classes that act upon serotonergic
transmission are discussed below. This includes serotonin (5 HT) agonists, antagonists and
medications that modulate 5 HT at the presynaptic level, all of which are of significant clinical
relevance.
Nuplazid (pimavanserin), is a selective serotonin inverse agonist (SSIA). Pimavanserin is a non
dopaminergic atypical antipsychotic drug with primarily selective inverse agonistic and minor
selective inverse agonistic properties on the 5 HT2A and 5 HT2C receptors, however it has no
substantial affinity on the 5 HT2B or dopamine receptors. Pimavanserin was discovered and
developed for the treatment of Parkinson s disease Psychosis (PDP) by Acadia Pharmaceuticals. ...

Another 5 HT2A and 5 HT2C antagonist with high affinity for dopamine receptors is the
therapeutically used atypical antipsychotic clozapine. Its significant clinical advantage is its reduced
incidence of extrapyramidal symptoms relative to first generation typical antipsychotics (Sansone,
2014).
5 HT3 antagonists include odansetron and palonosetron, which are particularly useful in the treatment
of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting (Sansone, 2014).
Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is a 5 HT1A, 5 HT2A, 5 HT2C, 5 HT5A and 5 HT6 agonist
demonstrating psychedelic properties. It is generally used recreationally however there is ongoing
research into it s application in LSD assisted psychotherapy (Müller, 2015)
Pimavanserin (marketed as Nuplazid) is a drug developed and approved for the treatment of PDP by
the FDA in April 2016. Its mechanism of action and therapeutic relevance is quite significant. As
previously mentioned it is a non dopaminergic second generation antipsychotic. It primarily exhibits
selective inverse agonistic behaviours due to its high affinity on the 5 HT2A receptors (Ki 0.087nM)
albeit low affinity on the 5 HT2C receptors (Ki 0.44nM) (Meltzer et al., 2012). Although it displays
anti hallucinogenic properties that assist in the overall alleviation of PDP, its mechanism of action is
not completely understood to

Advancements in Prosthetic Limbs
CHAPTER 1 Introduction
Prosthesis is a term used for replacing a human body part which has been damaged or cut accidently
with an artificial one. Hybrid prosthetic limb is a combination of mechanical and electrical circuit in
which a controller gives command to electrically driven motor for the gripper opening and closing.
Signal for the gripper opening or closing is acquired from the other shoulder movement. A strap on the
shoulder is tied to a string which switches on or off the limit switch to give a trigger signal. This
trigger signal actuates the motor in the gripper to perform open or close operation.
In the past few years prototype has been going under many modifications. Last year it was completed
but few flaws were there. Spring Mechanism was used by previous degree but it was not reliable as
due to excess use spring lost its elasticity and could not be used for triggering. Spring mechanism was
also not aesthetically good. A lot of aesthetics was to be done. To cater for this problem we used limit
switch for efficient triggering and made compact circuitry using 8 pin controllers and added much to
aesthetics of limb.
Literature Review
Prosthesis is a term used for replacing a human body part which has been damaged or cut accidently
with an artificial one. Earliest users of prosthesis were Ancient Egyptians. Due to war injuries they
used prosthetic limbs to look complete. A prosthetic toe was found on a 3000 years old mummy. An

Difference Between Mind And Body
When asked whether there is a difference between mind and body, most people (e.g. most non
philosophers) will likely answer with an immediate yes. This is due to the fact that we have the
inherent belief that our mental processes differ from that of the physical. This idea just seems right.
However, if we truly believe that the mind has a nonphysical existence then how can we reconcile the
relationship between mind and body an interaction between the nonphysical and the physical?
Furthermore, if we concede that the laws of physics, which only acknowledge the existence of
physical processes, are currently the most accurate descriptors of the world in which we live, how can
we continue to maintain this idea of a nonphysical existence of the mind in a world solely influenced
by physical causes? Therefore, in order to define the mind , we must first consider these two
conflicting ideas and distinguish the characteristics and capabilities of the mind and how they differ
from those of the body. In this paper I will argue that the mind is separate from the body and not
merely defined as a series of physical states.
Our first option in defining the mind is to solely rely on the physical laws of nature. However, these
physical laws only account for the physical states of the universe. Therefore, this option argues that
our mind states are identical with physical states and when we speak of the mind we are merely stating
a particular description of the physical world and

The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th...
During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the
church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned. Amid
these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be known as
the Renaissance period.
In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil servants
rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place and leading
the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope Boniface VII would
lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon.
After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged Phillip
to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was meant to
govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than the royal
court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a
running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope.
After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to
remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popes reigned there until pope Gregory XI
finally returned to Rome.
The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme

A Company And Limited Liability Company
A sole proprietor is one individual business that is not, like a corporation or limited liability company
(LLCs). It does not have to be registered with the participating states in order to be existent;
conferring to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS); in 2008, more than 22.6 million sole proprietors
existed in the United States (Staff I., N.d.). A sole proprietorship type of business is the easiest to
form, however, it is also the easiest to forget to register with the local government which is required,
acquiring a business license, and paying income taxes (Staff, I. N.d.).
Now in Joe s case, there were numerous steps that were required of Joe, nonetheless, he did not
accomplish them; first, Joe did not apply for a business license, secondly, he did not fill out a tax
return, thirdly, he did not acquire any liability insurance. Joe committed at least seven violations,
according to Section 1102.Title 18, of the United States Code; violations such as federal and state
charges of criminal damage to property, several civil suits, followed by weapons charges either which
could land him 10 to 20 years in prison plus fines (18 U.S. Code Chapter 40 IMPORTATION,
MANUFACTURE, DISTRIBUTION AND STORAGE OF EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS. N.d.). A few
of the legal difficulties that apply to Joe are negligence, due diligence, fraud, and duty care. First, there
is duty care, which is a misdemeanor law that states, the responsibility of attention is a lawful

Horseflesh Trial
Myself, being a good judge of horseflesh, kept my part in the Southern Hemisphere s greatest crime of
all time hush hush, as I was not handed a punishment by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court,

I did not know my acquaintances personally, being that we all met through the employment registers

was sentenced to death by mutilation, that being Ruben Monfils, which I didn t mind as he had a large
izzard on his forehead. Two others, the masked banditos, Lawrence and Mr. Découpage, had been
given hemlock. The intention of the Grenadian jury was for them to die by the cicutoxin in the plant.
They achieved death, but not how the quietus intended: Lawrence contracted an allergic reaction and
choked to death, whereas Mr. Découpage refused the drink, and after leaving the courtroom, was hit

Summary Of The Liberator In Venezuela
Venezuela was one of the very first colonies to gain their independence from Spain. At the time
Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that Spain was ruling their
colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar, whose nickname was The
Liberator since he liberated Venezuela and worked with San Martin to liberate most of Northern South
America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in 1810 and finally gained their
independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three symbolic elements of the
Venezuelan Revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech Simon gave to the Second
National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had in mind, and the high taxation
which was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705). In the monument to symbolize
Simon Bolivar, an incomplete statue of him was in the process of being completed by the people of
Venezuela. This is a representation of how Simon built and liberated Venezuela (Adelblue). The statue
is being built by the people of Venezuela just, as Simon built the country by freeing them, and by
establishing a strong foundation (Adelblue). The body of the statue is green to symbolize the growth
of the country and his pants are blue to symbolize independence. Simon was the commander of the
Venezuelan forces during the successful revolution against Spain (Martz and Heckler). Simon Bolivar
was nicknamed The Liberator (Adelblue).

  • 2. Political Ideas Stemming from Darwinism At the turn of the 20th century American citizens were faced with many inequalities and progressivism emerged as an evolutionary political response. People who considered themselves progressives championed many different types of changes but the fundamental tenet of any progressive was the idea that the central role of any government was to improve the quality of life for everyday citizens. Before progressives became a powerful political force the main political ideas stemmed from Darwinist views, that is to say that the survival of the fittest was the natural order of life. This Darwinian way of thinking applied to all aspects of life, social, political, and economic. The reasoning was that if good was to be done for the common man than it should be done at the behest of private influence. Progressives needed a strong leader to support their positions and were it not for the untimely assassination of President McKinley they might have had to wait years longer. President McKinley s successor, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., was exactly the strong leader that they needed to help combat the inequalities of the day. Theodore, or Teddy , was not alone in influencing the growth of progressive influence. Many of the inequalities would have never been brought to light, and the progressive movement would have been hindered, had it not been for journalists exposing what was going on. Teddy popularized the term Muckraker , used to refer to these investigative journalists, by mentioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mobile Devices And Its Impact On The Delivery Of... 4.2.1.3. SYMBIAN In its history Symbian, in a range of manifestations, has supported mobile devices by companies including Nokia, Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Siemens. It is now a privately owned limited company that focuses on delivery of professional services to the Symbian OS. That OS was developed to facilitate multimedia functions and data synchronization, among other voice and data features. EPOC is the foundation for Symbian; its foremost function is to support Psion s Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). For implementation and programming [38] [39], EPOC uses C++, a popular, efficient, general purpose programming language. A C++ library is included in the basic structure of Symbian OS, as are Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), drivers and system files. At the highest operating level, communication and multimedia features, PC connection services and other features are available. Symbian 9 is the latest version to be launched and offers better email features, additional services for external programmers and great system safety. Symbian should be approached with caution, however, as recent surveys suggest that its market percentage has slipped [40] [41]. 4.2.1.4. WINDOWS PHONE The Microsoft Windows Phone is a relatively new product in the smartphone sector. First introduced in 2010, the system is capable of applying the C++ language to XAML applications and to Direct3D game development. The entire interface suite for Windows Phone 8 is available and ... • 4. Informative Essay On Black Tea Over the years, coffee has been termed to be harmful to health, and more people have turned to tea. Globally, tea is the second most commonly consumed beverage after water, with black tea constituting 75 percent. All tea originates from the herb Camellia sinensis. Despite a lot of criticism surrounding caffeinated drinks, when it comes to black tea, it might be a healthy choice as some studies have shown. Black tea is made through withering, rolling and fully oxidizing the leaves. Before the final heating process, black tea leaves are fermented. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, amino acids, fluoride, carbohydrates, manganese, proteins, potassium, xanthine, guanine, and trace minerals. It also contains tannins that give it astringency and catechins which are powerful antioxidants that destroy cancer causing cells and prevent cardiovascular diseases. There are various health benefits that are associated with taking black tea regularly due to the presence of multiple polyphenols and antioxidants. Black tea contains explicitly complex flavonoids polyphenols that assist in preventing diseases. Theaflavin and thearubigin are among the flavonoid that acts as strong antioxidants. Thearubigin gives black tea its red color. Studies have shown that thearubigins benefit the mind and body in various ways. To harness the power of black tea, researchers advise that, milk or sugar should not be added. Improves cardiovascular health A recent study published in the journal Circulation ... • 5. Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of... When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read this semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself perfectly to a close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in Blake s volumes, Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience versions) demonstrated this duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same, however, the nature of the subject is drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday. This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in London, which was held on the first Thursday in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special service was held for the poorest children in London. These children would be brought to the church by their parish officers, serving approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this procession of children to the cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes towards the event itself. These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in content to two drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a picture of a bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Controversy Over Internet Censorship Essay The Controversy Over Internet Censorship For many people, using the Internet has become practically a new way of life, especially for college students and the like. Various types of information can be accessed at the touch of a button: anything from encyclopedias, to surveys and essays, to articles from magazines, and adult sites. Anyone who pays for their Internet service is usually offered space for his or her own web page, and even many free services provide space for personal web pages. All of this available space can be used for any number of reasons: posting newsletters for community groups, advertising for businesses, or just voicing one s opinion. For those of us who know how to use this information, or at least how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others feel that the government should step in and penalize anyone whose writings could be offensive. Many of these people have expressed their opinions on the Internet, and have made several good points. Legislation on Internet Censorship In a statement made by Senator Leahy in January 1997 suggesting legislation to repeal the Internet Censorship Provisions of the Communications Decency Act. The Communications Decency Act penalizes anyone who sends inappropriate material to a minor, or posts these materials where a minor might see it, with two year jail terms and large fines (Leahy, 2). Senator Leahy states, The first amendment to our Constitution expressly states that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Leahy also expresses his fears that other members of Congress may not realize that the people at risk of committing a felony under the CDA are not child pornographers, sex offenders, and purveyors of obscene material. Legislation has already been passed in order to prevent the distribution of these kinds of materials to minors (Leahy, 1). Banning indecent material from the Internet is like using a meat cleaver to deal with the problems better addressed with a scalpel, due to information assessed by one court estimating that the percentage of Internet addresses providing sexually explicit content would be well less than one tenth of 1 ... • 7. Essay On Ultra Orthodox If you would be forced into the military you would probably not be happy, but what if you grew up knowing you had to serve. This is the life of an average Israeli. Now imagine now that you have a friend and he is more religious than you and because he is religious he does not have to serve at all. You would probably not feel so happy about it. This is the issue that was discussed in Israel earlier last year. Israel is one of the few countries in the world with a mandatory peacetime draft. Every Jewish eighteen year old in Israel must serve in the army. For the longest time though ultra orthodox were exempt from serving, as they would be studying in yeshivas. The big argument is can you force people to serve in the army if their religious beliefs contradict it. As for many topics in Judaism there are many answers. Within different categories of Judaism there are different answers, even between the same categories there are different answers. The ultra orthodox have the most to lose from this mandatory military service. Some ultra orthodox believe that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One would be protecting your soul and body, so putting yourself in an army has a chance of you getting hurt. Another important value is having a moral responsibility beyond the law. If the ultra orthodox truly believe that morally that studying torch is more important than defending where they live it could be a point for them. There is also the belief in Judaism about freedom. The freedom to choose your own life is very important and forcing people into the army gets rid of that freedom. Jews are also supposed to teach so if the men of the ultra orthodox are going to school to become rabbis and then to teach there community they would be doing the right thing. One important value though is not to stand idly by your neighbor s blood. While Israel is not in a war at this time, if they were to get into one fighting to protect your neighbor would be ... The premise of the Larry games is one most of us guys can relate too: hook up with some smoking hot women. In 2013 an enhanced version was released after a successful kickstarter campaign. The game has underwent quite the graphical overhaul in this enhanced release, however most of the original concepts remain intact. And that is a good thing, because Leisure Suit Larry is a hilarious game. Al Lowe has created a game with a juvenile sense of humor that dares you keep a straight face. • 10. Compare And Contrast Plague Of Athens And The Plague The Plague of Athens, taking place in 429 B.C.E., is the first mass killing plague known to historians today. However, this doesn t mean that it wasn t as dangerous as plagues later on in history. In total 100,000 people died which is equivalent to more than one third of the Greece population. In the book The Plague , the city of Oran is overrun by a deadly disease. In both the Plague of Athens and the novel The Plague by Albert Camus, similarities occurred such as the diffusion of the disease, the symptoms and causes, and the social change. In both plagues, rats played a big part in spreading the disease. In the two separate plagues rats were one of the known reasons for the start of the plague. As stated in an article by the New World Encyclopedia, In addition, crowding caused by the influx of refugees into the city led to inadequate food and water supplies and an increase in insects, lice, rats, and waste. ( Plague of Athens ). Not only were the rats spreading the disease to fellow rodents, but they spread it to people also. This was the main reason why both plagues spread so fast. In the novel, the rats were found before the main disease started. The author wrote, He saw a big rat coming toward him from the dark end of the passage. It moved uncertainly, and its fur was sopping wet. The animal stopped and seemed to be trying to get its balance, moved forward again towards the doctor, halted again, then spun around on itself with a little squeal and fell on its ... • 12. The Wilderness And Environment In Ancient Epics The significance of the wilderness and environment in the three ancient texts, the Ramayana, the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Odyssey is indisputable. It goes beyond just being the backdrop for the action in the epics and instead, influences the action in some way. For this very reason, the environment becomes as important as the central characters in the epics. The Ramayana s Cedar forest was a den of mystical creatures, sages and demons that created challenges for the hero. It occasionally altered the character s behaviors and tested their will to follow their dharma, which is an individual s duty fulfilled by observance of custom or law ( dharma ). In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the wilderness serves as a frightening force for the hero to tame and civilize, resulting in it being one of the themes carried out through the narrative. The sea in the Odyssey hurled obstacles at the hero and his men that they had to fight through on their journey back home and was representative of the Ancient Greeks way of living under the influence of the gods. These environments, no matter how distant in cultural context, all have a significant effect on their respective characters and story lines. Pancavati, which is the forest in the Ramayana, is the place where Rama, the prince of Ayodya, withdraws to after being exiled from his kingdom.. Throughout the epic, the forest is often viewed as an antithesis of the kingdom, where all tradition is has to self imposed because there is no norm to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But Indian Parliament and parliamentary institutions and procedures are not a copy of the Westminster system. There are fundamental differences between their system and Indian system. Democracy extends way beyond elections. However, the holding of transparent, credible and accountable elections is important for any democratic country and election observers make a significant contribution in this process. In this essay, I will be heading a team of British officials who will be observing the Parliamentary election process in India in May 2014. Being from Britain, we will witness a lot of similarities between the political systems of India, however there will also be some differences, like India being a federal republic and a parliamentary democracy at the same time while Britain practices constitutional monarchy. Furthermore, India has a president and a prime minister, whereas, although the head of state in Britain is in the form of a prime minister, it also has a symbolic royalty head in the form of a ruling monarch. Generally the elections in India has been quite peaceful, well organized but quite unpredictable at the same time, especially with the growing influence of upcoming parties. It marked the beginning of economic development through exchange of goods and culture between continents. According to Peter Stabel; Greve Anke and Bruno Blonde (2000) book, International Trade in Low Countries, the trade allowed the emergence of the global market thus enhanced economic regions interconnection and continents interdependence. In the 16th century, trade constituted a portion of global trade but developed disproportionately in the early modern period. National markets became increasingly interconnected, thus bringing various innovations in transportation, infrastructure, and energy supply areas. The transition from individual manufacturing to the mass invention and convergence in prices of materials made transactions significantly easier, thus accelerating integration. The European countries dominated in international trade development during the 16th century. Later on North America emerged and created a stronger global economic influence and in the 21th century, Asian states especially China also gained influence by becoming USA creditors thus acting as the current century economic growth engine (Peter, Bruno, Anke, 2000). • 18. The Impact Of Sexualization Of Women In Advertising Women have always faced oppression and unequal rights. In the early 1800s, women were treated as slaves and their purpose was to please the men in their lives (Smith, 2002). In the 1930s, Kellogg released an advertisement stating, so the harder a wife works, the cuter she looks! which sexualized women for their husband s enjoyment (Heilpern, 2016). One would think over seven decades things would change, but unfortunately, similarities from both the 1800s and the 1930s are still present today. These similarities are present in advertising today as women are sexualized and demoralized for men s enjoyment. Denbeau (2011, p. 55) highlights a study that looked at the progression of exploitation of women in advertising between 1983 and 2003. There was a substantial increase in the sexualization of women throughout this period and they hypothesized that by 2013 this would increase again (Denbeau, 2011, p. 55). Looking at advertisements between 2003 and 2013, one could say that their hypothesis was correct and their study findings are valid that overtime advertising will continue to sexualize women more explicitly. How Companies Get Away with Sexualization in Advertising At the turn of the 20th century, gender stereotyping women in advertising became a popular marketing technique. As previously outlined, the stereotyping and sexualization of women continued into the 21st century and is stronger than ever. But how can companies continue with the blatant sexualization and victimization of women for over a century? By incorporating humour into advertising, people often overlook the sexism presented in the advertisement. Peters, Holmgreen, and Oswald (2015, p. 162) highlight that by mixing humour and sexist material together in advertisements, the intention is to evoke benign laughter , not to promote prejudice . Another way that I plan to get out of my comfort zone is by participating in more class discussions, which I already started, doing in my ENC class though not as much as I would like to. In my high school years I really didn t participate in school events, I would barely participate and if I did it was because it was required for a class or something else. As I progressed through my years at FIU, I would like to participate in more events like attend football ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Steve Jobs And The History Of Apple Everyone knows about Steve Jobs and the history of Apple. Apple is a worldwide known business that is arguably one of the most popular in the technology industry today. Things like the IPhone, IPod, and Macbook are some of the most popular products but that is not where things started. Steve Jobs was one of the entrepreneurs that started apple and is the most widely known. Things did not always look so pretty however. Steve Jobs was a good friend of Steve Wozniak. They joined together to create a computer. They were inspired to build something all people could afford. In the article, History of Apple, 1976 2016: The story of Steve Jobs and the company he founded it says, Jobs met Woz at the Homebrew Computer Club; a gathering of ... This was all just to show people a computer did not have to be expensive. It proved that computers could be affordable for all. Wozniak was happy with what he had produced, although Jobs saw otherwise. The Woz we know now has a larger than life personality he s funded rock concerts and shimmied on Dancing with the Stars but, as he told the Sydney Morning Herald, I was shy and felt that I knew little about the newest developments in computers. He came close to ducking out altogether, and giving the Club a miss. Let s be thankful he didn t. Jobs saw the computer, recognised its brilliance, and sold his VW microbus to help fund its production. Wozniak sold his HP calculator, and together they founded Apple Computer Inc on 1 April 1976 (Rawlinson). Thanks to Steve Jobs ability to see what was there, Apple was founded and given the ability to what we see Apple is today. Although Apple does make many profits, it has succeeded in its original company goal. Which is, as the article, Steve Jobs: An Extraordinary Career states, We started out to get a computer in the hands of everyday people, and we succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. • 30. Pimavanserin The classifications of serotonin receptors, as well as drug classes that act upon serotonergic transmission are discussed below. This includes serotonin (5 HT) agonists, antagonists and medications that modulate 5 HT at the presynaptic level, all of which are of significant clinical relevance. Nuplazid (pimavanserin), is a selective serotonin inverse agonist (SSIA). Pimavanserin is a non dopaminergic atypical antipsychotic drug with primarily selective inverse agonistic and minor selective inverse agonistic properties on the 5 HT2A and 5 HT2C receptors, however it has no substantial affinity on the 5 HT2B or dopamine receptors. Pimavanserin was discovered and developed for the treatment of Parkinson s disease Psychosis (PDP) by Acadia Pharmaceuticals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another 5 HT2A and 5 HT2C antagonist with high affinity for dopamine receptors is the therapeutically used atypical antipsychotic clozapine. Its significant clinical advantage is its reduced incidence of extrapyramidal symptoms relative to first generation typical antipsychotics (Sansone, 2014). 5 HT3 antagonists include odansetron and palonosetron, which are particularly useful in the treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting (Sansone, 2014). Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is a 5 HT1A, 5 HT2A, 5 HT2C, 5 HT5A and 5 HT6 agonist demonstrating psychedelic properties. It is generally used recreationally however there is ongoing research into it s application in LSD assisted psychotherapy (Müller, 2015) Pimavanserin (marketed as Nuplazid) is a drug developed and approved for the treatment of PDP by the FDA in April 2016. Its mechanism of action and therapeutic relevance is quite significant. As previously mentioned it is a non dopaminergic second generation antipsychotic. It primarily exhibits selective inverse agonistic behaviours due to its high affinity on the 5 HT2A receptors (Ki 0.087nM) albeit low affinity on the 5 HT2C receptors (Ki 0.44nM) (Meltzer et al., 2012). Although it displays anti hallucinogenic properties that assist in the overall alleviation of PDP, its mechanism of action is not completely understood to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Advancements in Prosthetic Limbs CHAPTER 1 Introduction Prosthesis is a term used for replacing a human body part which has been damaged or cut accidently with an artificial one. Hybrid prosthetic limb is a combination of mechanical and electrical circuit in which a controller gives command to electrically driven motor for the gripper opening and closing. Signal for the gripper opening or closing is acquired from the other shoulder movement. A strap on the shoulder is tied to a string which switches on or off the limit switch to give a trigger signal. This trigger signal actuates the motor in the gripper to perform open or close operation. In the past few years prototype has been going under many modifications. Last year it was completed but few flaws were there. Spring Mechanism was used by previous degree but it was not reliable as due to excess use spring lost its elasticity and could not be used for triggering. Spring mechanism was also not aesthetically good. A lot of aesthetics was to be done. To cater for this problem we used limit switch for efficient triggering and made compact circuitry using 8 pin controllers and added much to aesthetics of limb. Literature Review Prosthesis is a term used for replacing a human body part which has been damaged or cut accidently with an artificial one. Earliest users of prosthesis were Ancient Egyptians. Due to war injuries they used prosthetic limbs to look complete. A prosthetic toe was found on a 3000 years old mummy. An ancient Greek historian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Difference Between Mind And Body When asked whether there is a difference between mind and body, most people (e.g. most non philosophers) will likely answer with an immediate yes. This is due to the fact that we have the inherent belief that our mental processes differ from that of the physical. This idea just seems right. However, if we truly believe that the mind has a nonphysical existence then how can we reconcile the relationship between mind and body an interaction between the nonphysical and the physical? Furthermore, if we concede that the laws of physics, which only acknowledge the existence of physical processes, are currently the most accurate descriptors of the world in which we live, how can we continue to maintain this idea of a nonphysical existence of the mind in a world solely influenced by physical causes? Therefore, in order to define the mind , we must first consider these two conflicting ideas and distinguish the characteristics and capabilities of the mind and how they differ from those of the body. In this paper I will argue that the mind is separate from the body and not merely defined as a series of physical states. Our first option in defining the mind is to solely rely on the physical laws of nature. However, these physical laws only account for the physical states of the universe. Therefore, this option argues that our mind states are identical with physical states and when we speak of the mind we are merely stating a particular description of the physical world and ... • 33. The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th... During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned. Amid these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be known as the Renaissance period. In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil servants rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place and leading the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope Boniface VII would lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon. After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged Phillip to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was meant to govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than the royal court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope. After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popes reigned there until pope Gregory XI finally returned to Rome. The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme ... It does not have to be registered with the participating states in order to be existent; conferring to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS); in 2008, more than 22.6 million sole proprietors existed in the United States (Staff I., N.d.). A sole proprietorship type of business is the easiest to form, however, it is also the easiest to forget to register with the local government which is required, acquiring a business license, and paying income taxes (Staff, I. N.d.). Now in Joe s case, there were numerous steps that were required of Joe, nonetheless, he did not accomplish them; first, Joe did not apply for a business license, secondly, he did not fill out a tax return, thirdly, he did not acquire any liability insurance. • 35. Horseflesh Trial Myself, being a good judge of horseflesh, kept my part in the Southern Hemisphere s greatest crime of all time hush hush, as I was not handed a punishment by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, though many of my partners in crime did receive one. I did not know my acquaintances personally, being that we all met through the employment registers at Centerlink. The punishments for my confrères were meticulously, and unnecessarily sinister. One was sentenced to death by mutilation, that being Ruben Monfils, which I didn t mind as he had a large izzard on his forehead. Two others, the masked banditos, Lawrence and Mr. Découpage, had been given hemlock. The intention of the Grenadian jury was for them to die by the cicutoxin in the plant. They achieved death, but not how the quietus intended: Lawrence contracted an allergic reaction and choked to death, whereas Mr. Découpage refused the drink, and after leaving the courtroom, was hit by a Stout Scarab. • 36. Summary Of The Liberator In Venezuela Venezuela was one of the very first colonies to gain their independence from Spain. At the time Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that Spain was ruling their colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar, whose nickname was The Liberator since he liberated Venezuela and worked with San Martin to liberate most of Northern South America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in 1810 and finally gained their independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three symbolic elements of the Venezuelan Revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech Simon gave to the Second National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had in mind, and the high taxation which was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705). In the monument to symbolize Simon Bolivar, an incomplete statue of him was in the process of being completed by the people of Venezuela. This is a representation of how Simon built and liberated Venezuela (Adelblue). The statue is being built by the people of Venezuela just, as Simon built the country by freeing them, and by establishing a strong foundation (Adelblue). The body of the statue is green to symbolize the growth of the country and his pants are blue to symbolize independence. Simon was the commander of the Venezuelan forces during the successful revolution against Spain (Martz and Heckler). Simon Bolivar was nicknamed The Liberator (Adelblue). ... • 37. Electing A New Chief Essay Why would you go through the trouble of electing a new chief when you can just stick with me, Ralph? Why would you risk people having new conflicts that were not existing before? Why would you (rhetorical question) change the entire system of things when everything is working? I am not sure why anyone would want to elect a new chief when you have a perfect contender right in front of you. In the past, I might have gotten a bit carried away with the fact that we were going to be rescued, but now I have come to reality and have better plans for us. I have both the mental abilities as well as physical abilities, which make me the best candidate for chief. I am the best candidate for chief because the little uns look up to me which is necessary for being chief. Before when Jack was in charge of how we get our food, he was not very organized about it. Some people almost died because Jack was caught up in the idea of hunting and killing. That is not a good attribute for a chief. Because of the results of how it turned out, I will change the way we used to do things. I plan to be more organized and will assign certain people to do certain jobs. One example is if there are about 20 25 people on the island I will split us up into 5 groups and each group will have a specific job (logos). By doing this, it will ensure people are safe and understand what their job is and stick to their job. After hunting the food, we will receive and eat the food in orderly fashion to make sure everyone is given their ration of food.
