Martin Luther King In Jail Research Paper
While Martin Luther King may have gone to jail a few times, Martin fought for the rights for African
Americans. He was in marches and riots, received many awards and gave the famous speech I have a
Dream at the Washington Memorial. Martin was brave and determined to get freedom for African
Americans. One way was by leading marches like the March on Washington, Selma to Montgomery,
and the Montgomery bus boycott. Although he still had taken part of other events these were the
biggest reasons that led to the free rights of African Americans. He was brave walking through the
crowds yelling how he couldn t, still he kept walking. He was determined to one day that all men
would be equal, and he achieved his right to be equal. Martin received

The Respiratory System Essay
The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and
out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs
through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and
waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the
pharynx, larynx and windpipe also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through
the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process
known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where
it is then transported inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste
carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to
the cardiovascular system.
Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over
a semi permeable membrane between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level
environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements
such as blood cells, hence semi permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers
through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides.
The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller
than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only
contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or
alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration
processes.
As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to
contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the
chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure
inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls

Cypop 5 Task 1 Legislation and Governing Bodies Essay
CYPOP 5 Task 1
There are many pieces of legislation currently used to protect children and their parents whilst using
home based care settings. I have outlined the four below that I feel would be most important for
Anjum s family to be aware of:
Children Act 2004
The Introduction of The Children Act was the first time that a UK law had acknowledged that children
had rights. It Places responsibility on home based child carers to help a child meet the following five
priority outcomes:
Be healthy Ensuring the physical, mental and emotional well being of the child.
Stay safe protect the child from harm or neglect.
Enjoy and achieve education, praise and play.

* I personally feel The Equality Act is one of the most important legislations to have been introduced
in recent times, it is astounding that until recently woman were over looked in the work place so
frequently. It is of particular interest that woman wishing to return to work are now given the
opportunity to continue nurturing their child by breast feeding and also outside of the workplace ie in
public places. * The Equality Act is there to protect everyone whether in employment or not. It is there
to ensure we are all on an equal footing and that everyone regardless of their social status, race, sex,
sexual orientation, religion, mental health or intellectual acuity is treated with due respect and
presented with equal opportunities. * As a childcare provider this would mean treating all children and
their families or carers with respect and dignity irrespective of their colour, creed or special needs that
the child or adult might have etc. and ensuring that opportunities to learn and develop are obtainable
to all based on their particular level of development. Data Protection Act (1998)
The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA 1998) is an act defining the ways in which information about
people may be legally used and handled. The main intent is to protect individuals against misuse or
abuse of information about them.

Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da...
It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron. Many
famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the work. From
early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly interested in
commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst maintaining an image
of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni, (Gattamelata), (1443
1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military accomplishments during Gattamelata s
lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his death, Donatello represents the general as
youthful and stern. Anthony van Dyck s painting, Charles I at the Hunt, 1635, conveys a similar
interest in focusing on all the positive aspects of the patron, King Charles the ... Show more content on

The horse and Erasmo both are rendered with precision, flow, and with an accurate anatomical
representation. Detail is apparent in the muscular bodies which keeps a natural connection between the
horse and his rider. Although the subject rises above us, his disposition stays true to life. Donatello
chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This further establishes
himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand giving the statue forward
momentum. He presses onward even in death. The bronze statute sits on a plain marble base that is
arranged upon a limestone pedestal which includes the relief sculpture of the angels and battle armour.
The entire work is approximately 3.71 meters high (Stokstad, 631) with the base and statue in a
slightly deteriorated condition in present day. Donatello achieved his intense facial features by using
the lost wax method. By having individual emotions for each figure, it builds upon the overall
impressive feel to the whole

Plenitude Case
Plenitude Case
Plenitude s Position in the US Market 1996:
Plenitude s position has been bumped from 3rd position behind Pond to 2nd position behind Oil of
Olay who is the market leader in the skin care industry. The move of Plenitude s position to second
position has been due to the introduction of a new product Revitalift known with L Oreal. Revitalift is
the 20th brand product of Plenitude s product line sold in the US in a 1.7 ounce container and sales for
$11.05 per unit.
Revitalift was introduced in September, 1995 and quickly came to represent 20% of Plenitude sales
with the support of $5M in TV advertising which continued through 1996 to date.

users are concerned more a bout price.
Awareness to Trial ratio Plenitude has a reasonable awareness though not as good as Oil of Olay but
the percentage 23% of customers willing to try their brands are very low compared to Oil of Olay s
77%.
Product Information Plenitude products have a lot of information that most potential users do find
necessary and gets them confused hence making them lose interest in the product.
Test Markets Use of only 2 states out of 52 states were used to yield results upon which they based the
launch of their product line.
Product Launch Strategy Launching the entire product line was not a smart move. Potential users

What Hamilton should do:
Drop the bottom non performing brands: Hamilton should cease the production of the products that
are not yielding any sales such as the Excell Cream , Hydra Renewal Jar and Hydra Renewal cream
tube.
Price reduction on Daily Moisturizers: Hamilton should look into either price matching or reduce the
price on moisturizers in order to compete effectively hence boost up more sales for the moisturizers.

Social Work And Related Social Justice Issues
I come from a business and women s studies background, so I had very little previous knowledge
about the history of social work and related social justice issues. Reading through the articles
reminded me of how my assumptions and thought processes changed throughout my study in the
women s gender and sexuality program in undergrad. I went into the program not fully understanding
the history of women s rights and feminist theory and my eyes were opened very quickly to the
problems and issues that the field has had to learn to overcome. For example, the women s rights
movement has a history of being exclusive and fighting for particular rights as opposed to the rights of
all women and oppressed groups. The women s rights movement was associated

Post Op Hunger: What to Eat After Dental Surgery
Have you ever undergone oral surgery? Usually, those who have dental procedures done can t eat solid
food for a couple of days, sometimes even lasting for weeks because of the pain.
There are many options you can go for if we re just talking about soft food and liquids in general, but
be wary of what they contain. Some may come in those forms, but they may worsen your condition or
even infect your supposedly healing wound. Gentle Dentist, a family dentistry clinic based in
Indianapolis, shares a list of food that won t worsen the pain and will help you recover faster.

So, consider food items such as room temperature scrambled eggs, chicken, beef, fish, and nut butter
like almond and peanut. Consider the spices put into the food and the consistency, depending on how
much a person can take.
Liquids
In some cases, you won t even be able to chew and swallow properly because of the swelling and the
pain. For this, you can turn to fluids to help you get better. The number one choice is water, as it
washes away particles and sugars that may lead to tooth decay. It also keeps the mouth moist and the
throat hydrated.
Other choices are 100 percent fruit or vegetable juices to provide you with the right amount of calories
and nutrients. Green tea also helps improve dental health.
Avoid sodas and caffeine because the sugar may worsen your condition and cause tooth erosion.
Dairy
These are rich in vitamins and minerals, as well as known for being high in calcium. But, while there
are a variety of milk and milk byproducts available in the market, there are specific products
appropriate for dental surgery patients. Skim milk, cottage cheese, and unsweetened and low fat
yogurts work best to reduce healing time.
Hope this alleviates the frustration of not being able to eat solids. Who knows? Eating these might

Garrett Morgan Speech
Hello everyone and welcome to my new history channel, People of History. Today we will be
discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the traffic
signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan.
Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now we
will begin.
Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south. His
father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half Native
American and half African American.
Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as
ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the ... Show more content

His reason for making it was to save lives on the road, and reduce the chances of collisions on the
road. He wanted his invention to be used to tell cars when they could go, and when pedestrians could
walk across the street. This invention was recognized by General Electric, and led to the company
buying Morgan s patent in 1923.
Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds of
cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this invention
during the First World War.
Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his invention
received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and there was only
mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this occurred it would take
many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully recognize Morgan s
accomplishments. By the time of his death in 1963, he was recognized as a hero of Lake Erie and
restored to his rightful place in American history. Today, Morgan s inventions have evolved through
the years, and continue to be used to this very

Complications, Complication Rates, And 90 Day Readmission...
Abstract
With the recent focus on dramatic cuts and escalating healthcare costs in the United States, a new
center of attention has been placed upon postoperative readmission and reimbursement. Although
sacral fractures constitute a large component of all pelvic fractures, there is relatively little data
investigating differences in the postoperative length of stay (LOS), the complication rates, and the 90
day readmissions for these patients. The purpose of this paper was to investigate differences in
postoperative length of stay, complication rates, and 90 day readmission rates for patients with
operative isolated sacral fractures. All patients who presented to a large tertiary care center with
isolated sacral fractures in an 11 year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This significant difference in LOS between ORIF vs. percutaneous fixation of sacral injuries leading
to an average difference of $13,590 in average inpatient cost highlights predicative information to
potentially reduce perioperative costs related to sacral fractures for orthopaedic surgeons.
INTRODUCTION
45% of all pelvic fractures are sacral injuries [1]. They can occur in high energy collisions, with motor
vehicle accidents making up 57% of these crush injuries [2]. Traumatic force can lead to compression,
which then precipitates neurological complications [3]. For this reason, these fractures are
musculoskeletal injuries requiring emergent action at trauma centers to reduce the risk of
complications.
While open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) methods permits direct visualization of the injured
pelvis, there are highly variable wound complication rates ranging from 3.9% to 27% [4]. Critics of
ORIF are concerned about the extremely high risk of infection post operatively, which can increase
from 18% to 27% for fractures treated early and late, respectively [5]. It is reasonable to consider a
more minimally invasive technique such as percutaneous fixation, which uses screws to mechanically
stabilize an unstable sacrum [6]. Percutaneous fixation with iliosacral screws, for example, have led to
decreases in surgical time, exposure related hazards, and soft tissue disruption [7].
With the recent focus on dramatic cuts and

Hypersensitivity reactions are classified on the basis of the principal immunologic mechanism that is
responsible for tissue injury disease. As such, immediate hypersensitivity reactions are IgE antibody
and mast cell mediated responses to certain antigens which cause rapid vascular leakage and mucosal

essential components of allergic inflammation. Antigen specific IgE antibodies are produced in an
initial response and bind FcεRI receptors on mast cells and basophils on subsequent exposures. This

Creating Life After Life Before Life Essay
Creating Life After Life
There are seven billion people on Planet earth, many of which are blurs of bodies and faces. Each of
those faces will inevitably pass away, however each time someone passes away, another person is
born. Today, there is a lack space to fit all of the humans currently living due to the slightly larger rate
at which people are born. Where will we all go when we pass? When discussing what to do with the
remains after a loved one has passed, there are very few options . One can have a traditional burial and
funeral ceremony, or there is the option to be cremated. There are a multitude of problems surrounding
the traditional burial; the idea that one human body owns a certain amount of space for the rest of
eternity, the steel, wood and cushion that we are lodging into the earth. Each of these materials takes a
substantial amount of time for the earth to even begin decomposing. Most importantly, each material,
including the body itself, release toxins into the earth and atmosphere, affecting our environment
today. Researchers have recently discovered a more environmentally friendly way of burials. Should
the world begin to transition into a more green way of burial? We can begin to improve upon not only
our purpose beyond life, but we can also give back to our beautiful planet. There will never be a truly
perfect way to dispose of a corpse that will not affect the environment in a negative way but Green
Burials are a monumental leap towards that goal.

had been sick for some time and we all had anxiously been awaiting a prognosis. But none of us were
ready for the bumpy roads that lay ahead: testing, surgery, chemotherapy, nausea, headaches, and
fatigue. Even loud music would induce vomiting. He just felt all around lousy. After several surgeries
and many rounds of chemotherapy, Tommy had lost the will to go on. He stayed at home in bed, he
didn t eat, he had lost the go get em attitude he once had. We all tried to give him the love and ... Show

For they would be the ones who would truly heal. Each item had a specific meaning and purpose, and
each order must be followed exactly. The day came closer and we were all very nervous. The
ceremony was to take place at Baiting Hollow Boy Scout Camp. Everything was coming together and
the next weekend the healing would take place. We were all anxiously awaiting the day. It finally
arrived, and as my mom and I drove down the small, dirt, boy scout camp road, you could almost slice
through the tension in the car. I walked up the path, my heart echoing the faint sound of a beating
drum. As we came upon a clearing I began to feel nervous and a bit unsure. No one knew what to
expect. Familiar faces came into view. Some were faces I hadn t seen in years. We felt the urge to
display our excitement, but we were told there was a sweat lodge nearby, and to resist the temptation. I
wandered amongst the blur of faces saying hello to my large extended family, of life long friends. I
eventually found the man I was looking for. Our reason for gathering in the sweltering heat. The
common bond we all shared. Looking upon his withered body almost broke my heart. He looked frail,
nothing but brittle bones beneath his skin. His head is nearly bald with a few patches of the deep, dark
hair I remembered that the chemotherapy left behind. His thin tank top exposed the scars the surgeries
had left on his body. More difficult for me was noticing the

Discuss The Differences Between The Chesapeake And New...
Starting in the 1600 s, the English began immigrating to the New World. While the settlers from both
the Chesapeake and New England colonies were originally exposed to the same religion within the
Anglican Church, as well as primarily the same intention within the government system, the colonies
differed in how they would manage their societies once they were settled in the New World. The
Northern New England areas economy was built upon rocks. Their soil was very rocky, farming was
much harder than in chesapeake. The people who settled in this colony were families not single white
men who were to be indentured slaves. These factors created the New England colonies. As far as the
social aspect of the two colonies, there were significant differences in how the colonies were
populated. New England came over with big families which they would use to begin small
communities. The relationships that were already built between these settlers would go to benefit them
and provide the means to creating the society in an organized and well thought out manner. When you
are able to develop and rely on ones you trust making a wholesome community becomes easier, the
supplies, the labor needed to be done and issues that need to be dealt with come at a faster pass with a
trusted group of people (doc 1). The Ships List of Emigrants Bound for New England, 1635, lists
families who boarded the ships, giving the relation and age of each member (doc 2). Within these
communities they

Key financial ratios for retailers focus on aspects of income, liquidity and profitability. It is crucial for
retail stores to consider key financial ratios, however, is just the starting point. Once calculated, the
comparison of these ratios to industry standards would serve as targets to improve and review their
own performance over time. Through comparison and trend analysis, managers can further identify
key areas of weaknesses that may need immediate attention. Considering income retail managers turn
to the gross margin as an indication of the sales dollars remaining after subtracting the costs of
purchasing merchandise. Managers use this as a key indicator of their ability to convert existing
inventory into future cash. Audit planning provides specific guidelines that auditors need to follow

Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of William...
Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of Shakespeare
It is the very error of the moon;
She comes more nearer earth than she was wont,
And makes men mad. (Othello 5.2.112 14)
The moon is often seen in literature as an allegory for love, virtue, and chastity. In Shakespeare s
comedies, especially, the moon is personified as Diana, the Roman goddess of chastity. In these
comedies, the foolish antics of lovers (literally, lunatics ) usually occur under the auspices of the
chaste goddess, the lovers behaving like hounds about her feet that snap at each other in competition
for her bounty. The moon as allegory for the lunacy of romance helps us understand Shakespeare s
view of romance. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The finest example can be found in Othello. Iago convinces Othello that Othello is being cuckolded by
his wife, after which Othello questions him, referring to his wife as the moon:
Why, why is this?
Think st thou I ld make a lie of jealousy,
To follow still the changes of the moon
With fresh suspicions? No; to be once in doubt
Is once to be resolved . . . (3.3.190)
The moon/Desdemona is seen as at once chaste and inclined to change. Later, Othello accuses
Desdemona of infidelity despite her protesting innocence. Again, he compares her infidelity with the
moon: What committed!/ Heaven stops the nose at it and the moon winks . . . (4.2.74). The moon,
once chaste, is now flirting. Similarly, Othello believes that Desdemona, once chaste, is cuckolding
him. These two examples show the multiple allegories of the moon that, similarly, exist in women.
The moon also symbolizes the changeability of Fortune. What does the Fortune have to do with the
moon? Shakespeare considered both of them to be much the same. Both have a cyclical nature (hence
the term, Wheel of Fortune ): the moon waxes and wanes just like Fortune waxes and wanes. John
Hankins noted that the traditional Latin scholarship that Shakespeare may have studied (such as
Macrobius who studied the relationship of the celestial bodies to mortals on earth) would have lead to
his understanding

The Character Of Naomi Nakane In Obasan, By Joy Kogawa
Naomi is always the good, silent child who does what s expected of her, she takes whatever is given to
her, for awhile without any complaints. In Joy Kogawa s novel, Obasan, the main character, Naomi
Nakane, chronicles her life with distance, and it is through minor character like her brother, Stephen,
and their actions that we see the depth and impact of Naomi s passive nature.
At the start of the book, Naomi describes herself as being a part of her mother, like a branch to a tree.
She often hides behind her mother and is completely silent. Stephen on the other hand, is the star
child; musically gifted from birth. With [his] practice time each night (Kogawa 62) Naomi was
constantly forced to listen to Stephen play his music, and as a child she would sit and watch him, but
not just him, it would be her father and mother, too. Everyone in Naomi s immediate family had some

(242). Stephen was the talk of the town, everyone knew who he was and Naomi was just Stephen s
sister. Even academically they were compared, and still Naomi could not compete: Not like your

had that could compete with her brother s intelligence and musical talent. And so this, along with other

Dr. Jung, Ceo Of The Avon, And Howard Schultz
Andrea Jung, CEO of Avon, and Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks are both very effective leaders.
Although both are very effective leaders, their ways to leader inside each company are very different.
Jung is a leader that focus more on the tasks being done than creating a relationship with her
subordinates while Schultz is a leader that focus more on his relationship with his employees than
being concerned with them doing the tasks that they were told to do. In other words, Jung is basically
a task oriented leader and Schutz is a relationship oriented leader. However, both have many
similarities that make them effective leaders. Both are transformational leaders. Both want to make
their employees understand their roles inside the company and how their jobs are important for the
organization to achieve its goals. They also are concerned of how their employees can improve
themselves, about their situation inside the company, and how they can help the company to
accomplish its goals. Schultz, for example, create a way for his employees express what they think
that is good about the company or what could be improved. Analyzing Jung s leadership style and
Field s contingency model, we can see that Jung s style is a leadership that goes well inside Avon.
Jung said that Avon is a company that has the same values as her and that even if she would not had
taken the top position inside Avon, she would still had stayed in Avon. Therefore, the environment that

Ambulatory Central VA ECMO with Biventricular Decompression for Acute Cardiogenic Shock
Central Message
We describe the off pump insertion of a partial right ventricular assist device and a left ventricular
assist device with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: a novel technique that allows for walking
central VA ECMO with direct biventricular decompression.
Introduction
Cardiogenic shock is a life threatening emergency that results in high mortality rates 1. Inadequate
coronary and systemic perfusion are often present, and commonly lead to multi organ failure, which,
results in further insult and injury. Initial management involves the use of vasopressors and inotropes
to improve cardiac output and systemic perfusion. Surgical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We optimized his medical therapy, inotropic support and performed a successful cardioversion.
Despite these interventions, the patient s clinical status continued to decline with worsening fluid
retention, progressive AKI (SCr 3.8mg/dl) and multiple episodes of ventricular tachycardia and
ventricular fibrillation terminated by his implantable cardiac defibrillator (SAVE score 2) 5. We made
the decision to insert a partial right ventricular assist device and a left ventricular assist device with
extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for biventricular support and oxygenation. The patient
underwent a left mini thoracotomy, with off pump trans apical placement of a 31 French ProtekDuo®
cannula. We secured the device using 3.0 Prolene purse string sutures. The cannula provided a route
for blood exchange with the inflow port located in the left ventricle and outflow port and cannula tips
situated 2 3cm above the aortic valve. The blood circulated by the cannula passed through an extra
corporeal membrane oxygenator (TandemLung®) and pump (TandemHeart®). We also placed a 21
French IVC SVC venous cannula via the femoral vein and connected the tubing to the inflow of the
trans apical ProtekDuo® cannula (figure 1). The LVAD was up titrated to a flow of 4.4 L/min at
7000rpm.
Within 24 hours after the procedure, we observed a vastly improved response to diuretics, the AKI
started to resolve and he was successfully extubated.

Descent
The Most Beautiful Death

The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and
Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film award
from Indie Fest.
The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of
person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them
and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure

In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin their
dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are moments when the
camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up
in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from
before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things
that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours.
Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the
perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the
woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her
arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my
eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it that
makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone created

The Impact Of ESNO Cycles
Our text states that a lot of research must be done before ESNO cycles can potentially be linked to
anthropogenic global warming (Kitchen, 2016). Dr. McPhaden with the NOAA and NASA scientists
have been researching this issue and working on climate models. They have determined that there is
significant probability that extreme El Nino events will double in the 21st century. Rather than
extreme ESNO events occurring about every 20 years, they will occur every ten years. These extreme
climatic events have global impacts and could have significant socio economic impacts including
property damage, casualties and ecosystem damage (Cai et al, 2014), as well as result in vast

The modeling indicates that the increases in GHG cause this pump or the Brewer Dobson circulation,
to accelerate resulting in tropical and mid southern latitudes showing no signs of ozone recovery into
the next century. They also determined that there may be an over accumulation in the mid latitudes
which may drive O3 into the troposphere (Climate Change and Atmospheric Circulation Will Make
for Uneven Ozone Recovery, 2009). In addition to the health effects due to UV B radiation, there is
evidence that this change in atmospheric circulation forced by GHG concentrations has an impact on
the ITCZ and monsoon seasons. Some areas see a reduction in precipitation, adversely efecting
agriculture while other regions see an increase in precipitation causing flooding, displacement etc
(Mohtadi, Prange and Steinke, 2016).
An article in Nature discusses climate modeling as it relates to El Nino events. According to Cai et al
in Increasing frequency of extreme El Niño events due to greenhouse warming, global warming from
anthropogenic sources may have a compounding effect on the frequency and intensity of ENSO. The
article states this could have significant socio economic impacts. (Cai et al, 2013). Dr. McPhaden with

  • 4. The Respiratory System Essay The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to the cardiovascular system. Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over a semi permeable membrane between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements such as blood cells, hence semi permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides. The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration processes. As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da... It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron. Many famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the work. From early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly interested in commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst maintaining an image of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni, (Gattamelata), (1443 1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military accomplishments during Gattamelata s lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his death, Donatello represents the general as youthful and stern. Detail is apparent in the muscular bodies which keeps a natural connection between the horse and his rider. Although the subject rises above us, his disposition stays true to life. Donatello chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This further establishes himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand giving the statue forward momentum. He presses onward even in death. The bronze statute sits on a plain marble base that is arranged upon a limestone pedestal which includes the relief sculpture of the angels and battle armour. The entire work is approximately 3.71 meters high (Stokstad, 631) with the base and statue in a slightly deteriorated condition in present day. • 16. Garrett Morgan Speech Hello everyone and welcome to my new history channel, People of History. Today we will be discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the traffic signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan. Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now we will begin. Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south. His father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half Native American and half African American. Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the ... He wanted his invention to be used to tell cars when they could go, and when pedestrians could walk across the street. This invention was recognized by General Electric, and led to the company buying Morgan s patent in 1923. Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds of cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this invention during the First World War. Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his invention received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and there was only mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this occurred it would take many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully recognize Morgan s accomplishments. By the time of his death in 1963, he was recognized as a hero of Lake Erie and restored to his rightful place in American history. Today, Morgan s inventions have evolved through the years, and continue to be used to this very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Complications, Complication Rates, And 90 Day Readmission... Abstract With the recent focus on dramatic cuts and escalating healthcare costs in the United States, a new center of attention has been placed upon postoperative readmission and reimbursement. Although sacral fractures constitute a large component of all pelvic fractures, there is relatively little data investigating differences in the postoperative length of stay (LOS), the complication rates, and the 90 day readmissions for these patients. The purpose of this paper was to investigate differences in postoperative length of stay, complication rates, and 90 day readmission rates for patients with operative isolated sacral fractures. This significant difference in LOS between ORIF vs. percutaneous fixation of sacral injuries leading to an average difference of $13,590 in average inpatient cost highlights predicative information to potentially reduce perioperative costs related to sacral fractures for orthopaedic surgeons. INTRODUCTION 45% of all pelvic fractures are sacral injuries [1]. They can occur in high energy collisions, with motor vehicle accidents making up 57% of these crush injuries [2]. Traumatic force can lead to compression, which then precipitates neurological complications [3]. For this reason, these fractures are musculoskeletal injuries requiring emergent action at trauma centers to reduce the risk of complications. While open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) methods permits direct visualization of the injured pelvis, there are highly variable wound complication rates ranging from 3.9% to 27% [4]. Critics of ORIF are concerned about the extremely high risk of infection post operatively, which can increase from 18% to 27% for fractures treated early and late, respectively [5]. It is reasonable to consider a more minimally invasive technique such as percutaneous fixation, which uses screws to mechanically stabilize an unstable sacrum [6]. Percutaneous fixation with iliosacral screws, for example, have led to decreases in surgical time, exposure related hazards, and soft tissue disruption [7]. With the recent focus on dramatic cuts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Creating Life After Life Before Life Essay Creating Life After Life There are seven billion people on Planet earth, many of which are blurs of bodies and faces. Each of those faces will inevitably pass away, however each time someone passes away, another person is born. Today, there is a lack space to fit all of the humans currently living due to the slightly larger rate at which people are born. Where will we all go when we pass? When discussing what to do with the remains after a loved one has passed, there are very few options . One can have a traditional burial and funeral ceremony, or there is the option to be cremated. There are a multitude of problems surrounding the traditional burial; the idea that one human body owns a certain amount of space for the rest of eternity, the steel, wood and cushion that we are lodging into the earth. Each of these materials takes a substantial amount of time for the earth to even begin decomposing. Most importantly, each material, including the body itself, release toxins into the earth and atmosphere, affecting our environment today. Researchers have recently discovered a more environmentally friendly way of burials. Should the world begin to transition into a more green way of burial? We can begin to improve upon not only our purpose beyond life, but we can also give back to our beautiful planet. There will never be a truly perfect way to dispose of a corpse that will not affect the environment in a negative way but Green Burials are a monumental leap towards that goal. The ... While the settlers from both the Chesapeake and New England colonies were originally exposed to the same religion within the Anglican Church, as well as primarily the same intention within the government system, the colonies differed in how they would manage their societies once they were settled in the New World. The Northern New England areas economy was built upon rocks. Their soil was very rocky, farming was much harder than in chesapeake. The people who settled in this colony were families not single white men who were to be indentured slaves. These factors created the New England colonies. As far as the social aspect of the two colonies, there were significant differences in how the colonies were populated. New England came over with big families which they would use to begin small communities. The relationships that were already built between these settlers would go to benefit them and provide the means to creating the society in an organized and well thought out manner. Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of Shakespeare It is the very error of the moon; She comes more nearer earth than she was wont, And makes men mad. (Othello 5.2.112 14) The moon is often seen in literature as an allegory for love, virtue, and chastity. In Shakespeare s comedies, especially, the moon is personified as Diana, the Roman goddess of chastity. In these comedies, the foolish antics of lovers (literally, lunatics ) usually occur under the auspices of the chaste goddess, the lovers behaving like hounds about her feet that snap at each other in competition for her bounty. Think st thou I ld make a lie of jealousy, To follow still the changes of the moon With fresh suspicions? No; to be once in doubt Is once to be resolved . . . (3.3.190) The moon/Desdemona is seen as at once chaste and inclined to change. Later, Othello accuses Desdemona of infidelity despite her protesting innocence. Again, he compares her infidelity with the moon: What committed!/ Heaven stops the nose at it and the moon winks . . . (4.2.74). The moon, once chaste, is now flirting. Similarly, Othello believes that Desdemona, once chaste, is cuckolding him. These two examples show the multiple allegories of the moon that, similarly, exist in women. The moon also symbolizes the changeability of Fortune. What does the Fortune have to do with the moon? Shakespeare considered both of them to be much the same. Both have a cyclical nature (hence the term, Wheel of Fortune ): the moon waxes and wanes just like Fortune waxes and wanes. John Hankins noted that the traditional Latin scholarship that Shakespeare may have studied (such as Macrobius who studied the relationship of the celestial bodies to mortals on earth) would have lead to his understanding
