Most of the people we asked
about our storyline were aged
16. The fact that no one was
above the age of 18 is an
advantage because the target
audience are between 15-18. All
of the people we asked are
within the age range of the
target audience.

‘Psychological’ was the most popular answer in
this question. This could help us to develop our
idea because we could change our storyline so
the subgenre is psychological thriller. An example
could be to add scenes with mirrors or shadows.
When we develop our idea, it is more likely for
the audience to be on the edge of their seat. The
next popular answer was action. We could use
actions (for instance fighting) so the thriller film
appeals to the target audience.

The majority of the target audience thought the storyline was not
complicated. However, a few thought it was complicated. To develop our
idea, we could re read the storyline and pick out parts that are weak and
develop on it. This will lead the storyline to be more clear.

Overall, the storyline will create suspense. As there are some people who think the
storyline will not create suspense, we could change and improve our storyline. My
group and I could add more codes and convention in the storyline to create tense and
suspense. An example is having dull lighting, dark clothing and mysterious music.

We would name our thriller film
‘Amnesia’ as it was the most favorite
answer. There is a huge gap between the
other titles and Amnesia, implying the
title is successful and reflects our
storyline.

The greatest answer was mise en
scene/visual. However, there are not much
difference with the other options. This
implies the opening sequence has to include
a good use of sound, visual/mise en scene,
special effects and storyline. We could
choose a couple tense sounds and decide as
a group the best one. My group and I could
develop the visual/mise en scene by
focusing on the clothing, setting and lighting.

The answers are even in three

answers are: case scene,

an advantage because we could
chose how to start the opening
sequence.

Storyline was the most common
answer in this question. My group
and I need to make sure our
storyline is strong so the audience
wants to watch the film. When we
add more codes and conventions
(question 5), the target audience
are more likely to be thrilled when
watching the film. Being thrilled was
the second most chosen answer.

From the survey, I found out that
the target audience wants to feel
tense in an opening sequence. If
the opening sequence makes
them feel the way they want to
then there is a high chance they
will carry on watching the rest of
the film. In the opening sequence,
we could include codes and
conventions (such as including
shadows and dark lighting) to
make the audience feel tense.
