ANALYSING RESULTS
QUESTION 1: WHAT IS YOUR GENDER?
• As we can see in this chart 49% of
women have taken this questionnaire and
51% of men have taken this
questionnaire.
• We can also see that more men then
females from this question watch thriller
films. This may be because when men
tend to go cinema they go with their
partners
• From this information, we will be able to
notice that we should mainly target men
as a lot of more of them are watching
thrillers.
QUESTION 2: WHAT THRILLER SUB GENRE
ARE YOU MOST DRAWN TOO ?
• This question was based on the thriller
sub-genres and as we see 49% of the
respondents are most drawn to action
thrillers.
• But, we can also see that horror and
psychological thrillers are close up with
22% and 16%.
• The least popular thriller sub genre as
we can see are revenge thrillers,
supernatural thrillers, spy thrillers and
other which was romance.
• This gives us a main focus as more of
the respondents prefer action thriller.
QUESTIONS 3: HOW LIKELY IS IT THAT
WOULD RECOMMEND A THRILLER FILM TO
A FRIEND OR COLLEAGUE?
• This question was based on
whether people would recommend
thriller films to their friends or
colleagues.
• 43% of people were passive 34%
were detractors and 22% were
promoters.
• From this information, the potential
things that we could do to make
people recommend a film is by
making it catchy and making the
storyline very interesting.
QUESTION 4: HOW WOULD YOU RATE THE
QUALITY OF THRILLER FILMS?
• In this question the respondents had
5 options on how they would rate the
quality of thriller films.
• 55% of the respondents would rate
the quality of thriller films as high
quality. 15% of the respondents
would rate the quality as high quality.
25% of the respondents would rather
the quality as neither high nor low.
And the last two options were 4%.
• The main focus would be to make
the quality of thriller films high
quality/ very high quality as most of
that target is hitting high quality and
above.
QUESTION 6: HOW IMPORTANT ARE
COSTUMES/PROPS/LOCATIONS IN
THRILLERS?
• As we can its a joint between very
important and important which is at
39%.15% of the people are in between
important and not important.
• Based on this information we can see
that the main focus of thrillers has to be
costumes/props/locations as many do
focus on these features.
• We could add props that we usually use
in everyday life such as cars, phones
etc. as this will allow he audience to
relate with how they use the props.
• With the location it’s the same as the
props its got to be somewhere where
people can relate and know about in
order for the film to appeal to the film.
QUESTION 7:WHAT PUTS YOU OFF
WATCHING THRILLER FILMS?
• 52% of the respondents said that bad acting
is what puts them of watching thriller films.
• 25% said that the films are not scary enough
is what puts them off thriller films.
• 10% said that the thrillers are too scary.
• 49% of the respondents said that a confusing
plot is what puts them off.
• 10% said that props and costumes is what
pus them off.
• This graph shows us that the main two things
that put people off is bad acting and
confusing plot. This may be because the plot
has too much and doesn’t have one main
focus.
• This could be avoided by having a simple
plot and adding ideas to expand that plot but
not adding way to many ideas to over do it.
QUESTION 8: FOR YOU WHAT BUILDS
SUSPENSE?
• From the graph, 34%of the people believe
music builds suspense.
• 16% believe lighting creates suspense.
• 25% believe camera angles create
suspense and finally 28% believe sounds
create suspense in thriller films.
• The potential reasons why respondents
could have said music builds up suspense
as in films when something is about to
happen there's always sound behind it to
build up that moment.
• With this information we can see that the
main focus of building suspense would be
the music.
• people could prefer the music as that's what
helps the storyline flow and builds
suspense.
QUESTION 9: WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES
A GOOD OPENING?
• This may not be a clear graph of
showing me what people may think a
good opening is but it does however,
allow me to look at every idea and see
how we could mix and match.
• we can see a lot of people prefer
mystery to start off with which is a good
way of starting a thriller as it makes the
audience question why that certain
event happened which will be revealed
during the film.
• We also see that someone said shot
type which helps to build mystery as the
way the characters or plot is seen is the
way its going to crate that mysterious
opening.
QUESTION 10: WHAT WOULD YOU RATE
THRILLER FILMS IN GENERAL?
• 0 of the respondents rated thriller
films a 1 star.
• 2 of the respondents rated thriller
films a 2 star.7 of the respondents
rated thriller films a 3 star.
• 20 of the respondents rated thriller
films a 4 star.4 of the respondents
rated thriller films a 5 star.
• As we can see that most of the
respondents rate thriller films 4 stars
this may be because as we’ve seen
throughout the results there are many
missing pieces which are missed out
in thrillers in order to make it just
perfect.
