2. Synopsis/ Narrative
Eight college coeds have won a contest for a popular T.V. show. The
contest; One night on the Cole Carter's supposedly haunted lot. They're
all alone, miles from the next town. The lot, and house are rigged with
camera's. Recording every move, and every death. Cole Carter was
killed in the 1970's, he was a psycho. But now, they have summoned
the spirit of Cole Carter, now they fight to stay alive.
3. Question 1: Do you think the title is suitable
for the synopsis?
As shown by the graph 100% of respondents said
that they think the title of our trailer suits the
synopsis, which is One Night.
4. Question 2: Do you think the narrative is easy
to understand?
Here we see that 80% of the respondents
understood the narrative of the trailer
however 20% didn’t find it easy to understand.
From this we will have to alter the narrative in
order for every member of the audience will
find it easy and straight forward.
5. Question 3: What should be the antagonists
signature weapon be?
This was an open question, 50% of the
respondents said that the antagonists signature
weapon should be a knife. However, a knife does
not fit into the sub genre of supernatural, it’s
more of a slasher horror weapon. For next time
in order to prevent this from occurring again we
should ensure that all the respondents are aware
of the trailer’s sub genre or we could have made
this a multiple choice question.
6. Question 4: Do you think our synopsis gives
too much of the film away?
The graph shows that 50% of respondents said that it does
give away too much and the other 50% of respondents
claim that it doesn’t give too much away.
7. Question 5: Does the antagonist sound
patronising?
A whopping 70% of respondents said that
they didn’t find the antagonising patronising
whereas 30% said they did. This a cause for
concern as the audience are meant to find the
antagonist patronising. I think this is down to
how the antagonist was described in the
synopsis, we should have made him sound a
lot more scarier.
8. Question 6: Does the synopsis sound
appealing?
90% of the respondents said that the
synopsis sounds appealing and 10% said that
its not appealing.
9. Question 7: Would you watch this if it was a
real film?
From the bar graph we can see that 80% said that they
would go and watch our film if it was real and 20% said
that they wouldn’t. This shows that as a team we did a
good job of trying to make our trailer appealing to our
target audience and this proves that we succeeding in
doing just that.
10. Question 8: Where would you expect this to
be filmed?
This was another open question where 70% said that it
should be filmed in a house/building which fits in with
where we are actually planning to film it (in an
abandoned building).
11. Question 9: On a scale of 1-5 what would you rate
this film?
1 being not scary at all
5 being typical horror film
40% said 5, 30% said 4, 20% said 3, 10% said 2. This outcome
is great as this is the whole aim of creating a horror trailer, to
scare the audience.
12. Question 10: Do you have any further
suggestions/improvements?
This again was an open question the majority of
respondents didn’t have any further suggestions however
there were a few that did and moving forward we plan to
take these suggestions’ improvements on board.
