3. Info-graphic Research: VFX Artist
median annual wage for VFX artist was reported as $63,970 in May 2015
You can apply for a VFX Trainee position through Trainee Finder, which gives you hands-on experience in the industry and
helps you build those all-important contacts that are essential when competing for a job:
Junior Visual Effects Artist estimated salary is about £18K - £20K a year

4. Info-graphic Research: Animator
The salary of animators starts at around £12,000 – £15,000 a year but salaries in computer games start higher at
£18,000
More experienced animators can earn around £23,000 -£26,000 a year. After 10 years experience is around £36,000+
Working hours for an animator are around 40 hours a week but as deadlines approached it may be required to work
overtime including weekends. Flexittime is quite common and most studios allow you to work from home at times if you
have the right equipment.
The area of animation is work that is open to all graduates. However it is very helpful to have Degrees or foundations IN
Animation, Art and design, Film and video or 3D design, etc. Entry without a higher education is unusual but not
impossible. Exceptions have been made for very talented candidates. Many animation studios find having an artistic
background to be just as important as having a background in IT. Most people become a 3D modeler after progressing
from 3D animator. There are also other ways of becoming a 3D modeler professionally like becoming a trainee or a
junior. However most still look for at least a bachelors Degree in art, 1 year of experience and an outstanding demo reel

Things to consider:
Who is your client,
My client is A.G. Barr a soft drinks manufacturer in scotland. The company was founded in 1875 by Robert Barr. They
Launched IRN BRU in 1901. In 2012 the company agreed to merged with Britvic which produces drinks like J2O, Tango
and Robinsons as well as the authority to produce Pepsi in the UK market. This would have made it one of europe's
largest soft drinks companies but it was abandoned by 2013. IRN BRU is known for its very unique and Hilarious adverts
which everybody loves but some ads have been taken down after being accused of being ‘Sexist’ ‘Transphobic’
‘Insensitive to women’ ‘Promoting Theft’ and some were found ‘Offensive’ to vegans and animal rights activists.
In 2017 the company sold £257.1M worth of product making a profit (before tax) of £43.1M. They also launched omj in
2017 which exceeded £1Million worth of sales.
A.G. Barr has over 900 employees across 10 locations across the UK

Things to consider:
what do they make, Irn Bru is a Soft drink described as Scotland's other national drink (after
whisky) it is produced by A.G. Barr of Glasgow since moving out of their parkhead factory in
the mid-2000s. IRN BRU is available throughout the UK and most of the world. Its innovative
and sometimes controversial marketing campaigns have kept IRN BRU as Scotland's number
one soft drink and competes directly with Coca-Cola. There have been multiple IRN BRU Soft
Drinks including Low Calorie IRN BRU which was relaunched in 1991 as Diet IRN BRU and
again in 2011 as Sugar Free. There was an energy drink called IRN BRU 32 in 2006 nut that
was quickly scrapped. IRN BRU is the 3rd Highest selling soft drink in the UK only just beaten
by Coca-Cola and Pepsi but beats Fanta, Dr Pepper, Sprite and 7-Up by miles.

how do they advertise their products? MORE DETAIL SCREENSHOTS Analyse in more detail.
Alot of their advertisements are very silly and comedic because a lot of their drinkers are
younger. A lot of advertisement is based around everyday scottish people. A lot of advertisement
are based around young people. They try to make their product look like it can calm you down
and gets you through even in the worst situations “IRN BRU Gets you through”.Their
advertisements are very unique and they attract a lot of people to drink the products, their adverts
are also known world wide because of how different and funny they are. All the other products
like Coca-Cola always take it so serious and play it safe which becomes very samey to a lot of
people. Some of the best adverts have been tied up in controversy but i think most would agree
that your not supposed to take these adverts seriously. The history behind theses ads was
explained by marketing director Adrian Troy who said “This new campaign for Irn Bru was borne out
of a lengthy process that started with understanding youth consumers in their world today. Our research
highlighted that young people lived in a very serious world, but that sometimes they just wanted to
escape it, be a bit less 'adult' and have a bit of fun.” He also added “We are turning a negative situation
into a positive one, encouraging our consumers to think positive and be positive” This seems to have
worked very well because not only are the adds very funny but they have also captured young
minds across the world as these ads will always be a source of laugher.

Number 9
It starts off being seemingly childish and silly but then it goes into slightly darker tones as one
of the chickens kills its own egg and the man feeds a living carrot to a bunny to be eaten alive.
The man then leads them all into the butchers shop to be slaughtered. This is played for a bit
of dark humor and to make it seem very silly. This is intended to make the audience laugh. The
darker themes at the start that you just kinda pass as being just innocent and you arent really
supposed to think about how the bunny eats a carrot while its still alive or about the chicken
killing its egg before its hatched. The advert is very liniar as its events happen in order and its
set in a non realistic situation where IRN BRU makes rain go away and cartoon animals come
out. I think the dark humour of the advert works very well as it very much appeals to younger
audience. The style they have chosen is very much like Bugs Bunny and other old Iconic
cartoons. This Retro style animation will win over a lot of the older generations from their
nestalgia and they will also hopefully get the dark humour. This mixing 2D animation with the
real world has been done many times. Especially with Who framed roger Rabbit back in 1988.
Mary Popins in 1964 and Looney Tunes back in action in 2003. I think the Retro cartoon style
mixed with live action works very well here. However the dark humor in this advertisement has
been accused of being offensive to Vegans and has been complained about by animal rights
activists.

It starts with Midwife trying to bring out the Baby with IRN BRU but it ends
up stealing the can and drinking it before throwing it in the bin. This advert
takes a situation in real life that is quite painful and not fun at all and
makes it comedic and i think they have done this very well. They even
have a comedic burp by the baby. Unfortunately this advert was accused
of being “insensitive to women” and was taken down in most countries.
This advert takes place is a very real situation then makes it very
unrealistic by making the baby drink the IRN BRU. This is to try and show
customers that the drink is so good anyone will die to drink it.

Number 5
The add starts off with a man who walks into see his new born baby for the first
time. when he goes in he finds that his girlfriend/wife and her mother decided
to call their baby Fanny. This is played for laughs but the buy immediately
drinks his bru to get him through the issue and it suddenly seems fine to him.
This is meant to keep going with the slogan “IRN BRU-GETS YOU
THROUGH”
This advert was taken down in most countries for obvious reasons as it very
much pushes what they can get away with. And in my mind thats a good thing
but unfortunately some people dont share the same sense of humor.

Number 4
It starts off with a stereotypical Scottish dad whos very proud of their scottish nationality.
Then his daughter walks in introducing her new boyfriend and hes a very stereotypical
english football boy. Her dad then gets triggered because of the stereotype of the scottish
not liking the english. This is played for a joke as he desperately goes for his BRU to help
him handel it. And it gets worse and worse for him as the boyfriend shows himself to be
even more english.
This is playing on the friendly rivalry between Scotland and england and how a lot of the
scottish are very proud of their nationality. This is a liniar advert as it goes from scene to
scene in order. Its set very much in a realistic setting.
However a lot of people found the advert to have Anti-British Sentiment and it was banned
in the UK. It is so unfortunate that a lot of adverts have this problem with people taking
things too seriously and ruining the fun for everyone else. As someone who is english i
personally dont have anything to be offended over in this advert and i found it very funny.

Its a parody of the snowman but it goes through scotland instead. It then has the
snowman desperately wanting his bru and steals it from him. This is supposed to be
funny as it has a different twist from the original snowman

Put your market research here.
Things to consider:
What market is your client part of, who is their competition?
IRN BRU’s competition is other fizzy drinks such as FANTA, Coca Cola, Dr Pepper and pepsi.
These soft drinks are all from very big global manufacturers

Statistics from secondary research show that the main demographic
is young scottish men. And the secondary demographics would be

23. Individual Idea:
Write down and overview of your idea here. What is your is that you want to take to the rest of the group?
You can also add some visual elements to help explain your idea.
My idea is to have the IRN BRU sitting on the table and the shadow approaches.
Then the can gets picked up by a string and you hear drinking sounds before the
Empty can drops back onto the table and the shadow retreats. Then the logo
Appears with the slogan IRN BRU gets you through
24. Group Idea:
Put your groups idea here. Agree on what you are doing. You need to work to this concept from here on.
The group idea is to have cans of irn bru fight in a western showdown. The ad will have separate shots of the cans eyes.
They then charge at each other then there is an explosion. The logo and slogan will then appear. We will use stock
special effects and Sound effects In post

We will require 2 cans of IRN BRU, string and paper. Anything else can just be done in post. The responsibilities will be
shared between the group. We will shoot the ad in the college class room. In post we will correct and finish off the
scenes.
Add over side of storyboard and maybe have more slides

For the adva game i am considering a western shooter gallery type game shooting other cans but you dont shoot the
IRN BRU cans. I want the background to maybe be a western town. I dont think they will have many characters or any
other locations needed.
