Republic Forces Podcast
• Has an Intro, using the theme from the TV show, as well as someone explaining what will happen in the podcast. For the intro using the theme of the
show im sure they had to find some way around a copy right strike or being sued. Maybe they used it under fair use. This intro is so iconic to the tv
series so when people think of it they think of the TV show. Using something iconic to the show helps show this is made for people who like the TV
show.
• Reviews the ending of the TV show on its final season. They each give their opinions which are very varied about things they liked an things they
could have done better. Each of them seem to respect each others opinions and the podcast goes very well From that.
• Multiple Voices, so there are multiple people taking time to talk about their opinions. Multiple people talking must also help stop it from getting
boring as your not just listening to the same person talk to his self of an hour
• They use a very informal tone, kinda like they are chilling around while they talk. This might help the audience also relax and they might just want to
put it in the background, this is an advantage because more people will be putting it into the background. Being formal could bore them from the
task they are doing and will want to relax
• it makes the audience want to hear their opinions so they can think about things they may have missed or maybe they want to think about it more.
Podcasts like this take advantage of people wanting that and they provide for those people who maybe want a second opinion
The podcast is completely audio, not offering a Visual option. This means its more centred around not being the main focus and more something you have
in the background as your working or travelling, your less likely to listen to it being the centre of what your doing
• Made for long time fans of star wars and star wars the clone wars. This is apparent as the whole podcast is centred around it. This is an advantage
and a crutch as it can only run as long as the series runs but it can gain a following from the popularity of the show

RT Podcast
• The podcast has a intro with music if you listen to the audio only version you cant see the animated graphic, but the music still holds up on its own. Which is a huge advantage for roosterteeth because it means
people can enjoy the intro whether they listen to the audio version or watch the visual version, so it can be used in the background or at the front of what someone is going.
• Made in mind for long time fans of their products such as red vs blue, RWBY, lazer team, X-ray and Vav, Day 5, etc. This is an advantage, as roosterteeth keeps producing and gaining fans they can also use that
popularity to push their podcasts forwards. The more popular the podcast gets the more money they get from the podcast, which is on top of they money they already make from their main products
• They introduce themselves at the start which is good for new viewers but this has often became an inside joke to get the names wrong. This is both an advantage for long time viewers because they get a laugh out of
the inside joke but it’s a disadvantage for long time viewers who don’t know who is talking and may get confused but I guess they will understand the more podcasts they watch
• They have both an audio Version and a visual version meaning its for people who want to watch it as the main thing they are doing but can also be fore people who are travelling or someone who is working and just
wants it in the background
• It’s available on multiple sites and formats such as youtube, podbean, and Itunes, in .mp4, .mp3 and .Wav files. This is a great way to try and make it much more widely available for more people to listen to your
podcast.
• The roosterteeth podcast is mainly designed for long time and loyal fans who get every reference they say and every joke they do. This is an advantage for long time fans but it might be harder for new fans to get into
it and this could decrease the popularity of it
• They use in house made music for the intro this works very well as it sounds very good and it avoids copyright strikes. But smaller podcasts might not have the resources to create music like this as roosterteeth has its
own music studio to make its music for its other products so it depends if they have the resources or not
• Very chill and messing around, the tone is not formal at all, they often tell jokes and laugh about personal stories they share, this is an advantage because it can help the audience relax as they listen to them which
helps it be something good to have in the background while your working or travelling
• They talk about funny stories which often make the audience laugh making them more likely to listen to the whole thing and come back for the next one if they find it entertaining
• Their Podcast is Sponsored, this means they can get money from it but it is very hard to get a sponsorship and is often only available for podcasts who have a lot of followers and people who watch them, being
sponsored is hard but is a huge advantage as they make money from it which they can keep for themselves and/or put it back into the production value of the podcast
• It appeals to the audience because the audience want to listen to the youtube personalities and their stories. These people also feature on lots of RT productions, such as Red Vs Blue, RWBY, Day 5 and more
• This relates to what I want to do because its mainly about reviewing and telling personal funny stories with the people watching to make them laugh. This isn’t what I know for a fact im going to do but I feel like this is
the direction I want to take it

Geeks + Gamers late night in cantobite Podcast
• They have a animated logo with sound created by me but unfortunately, you can only hear the sound of it in the audio version, since I
designed the logo with the idea of it being visual people who are only listening to the audio wont understand what's going on what
why those sounds are there. This is a disadvantage because it could push people away from the podcast. To try to avoid this problem
the logo should be sound first, visual second but when I do my podcast its not going to have an audio version
• They introduce themselves at the start so people know who they are, this works well because people who Haven’t listened to it before
might not know who they are, especially since its still new
• They have an option for video for their podcast which has a webcams of them unfortunately this is only really good to have in the
background so a visual version isn't very useful unless the quality goes up dramatically
• They haven't edited the audio so its got a lot of background noise S’s and T’s are hard to hear and it feels very unprofessional, this
could easily be fixed spending 5 minutes in adobe audition. This will be something I will have to avoid in my product
• They talk a lot about Star Wars in their podcast which is their main thing. This can help boost the podcast but they need to be careful it
doesn’t become a crutch where they cant do anything else because they only focused on Star Wars before. Many people have lost
their popularity because they became to reliant on something and when it became irrelevant non of their fans were interested in
anything else they wanted to do. When I make mine ill have to be careful of that too
• The tone is very informal, and they often make a lot of bad jokes, can be a little cringe worthy at times, this is bad because it can very
much push away their audience when they need to attract them

5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
− Lots of these podcasts are very relaxed and chilled throughout, with a very informal tone which works well to connect with the
viewer
− They all have some form of intro and the video versions have animated graphics with their intros this works well because it
immediately grabs the audiences attention and makes them more likely to watch. Further
− They all introduce themselves at the start this is good for new viewers to the podcast as they can instantly know who they are
listening to
− Making their own intro this is a theme in two of the podcasts as they make their own intro making the visuals in after effects and
making the sounds in audition, audacity, and garage band, making your own things is good as it takes away any risk of copyright
while also keeping your work unique
− They tell stories and talk about recent events
− They are all using related products to boost their own to try and boost the podcasts popularity, the first and last are using
someone else’s product while Roosterteeth are using their own products which they have made
− Not being sponsored, while roosterteeth is sponsored G&G and republic broadcast don’t have that luxury. But if they did it would
be a huge advantage
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
– Like the RT podcast I think ill make my own intro music myself and I think I will plan to do this on garage band, this seems to be the
best way as it would easily get around any legal issues. This also allows the audience to associate this new music only with the
podcast and not any related pre existing products
– I think I will keep the relaxed, informal tone, to try and make it more appealing to people who just want to listen to it in the
background of what they are doing at the time,
– I will use related products to boost my own, but ill have to try not make it a crutch because I don’t want to closely self off and not
be open to doing and talking about other things
– I wont be sponsored since it would be impossible for me to get sponsored while making my product, through if I could it would be
a huge advantage
