Website Analysis

Masthead-
The font and style of the masthead
is identical to that of the regional
magazine, the text contrasts the
background so that it stands out to
the reader
Advertisement of the magazine-
The advert at the top and centre of
the page is promoting an offer for a
subscription of the magazine rather
than buying the magazine as a one
off. This is a good way of appealing to
the target audience because they are
being lead to believe they will save
money and the magazine will know
they have their custom for the
amount of months they have
subscribed. The advert is placed on a
part of the page where it is
guaranteed that the reader will see
whereas if it was placed further down
the page where the reader will only
see the advert if they scroll, it would
cut down the views significantly
Social media links-
Using logos to link to social media is a good way of making it obvious
what it is without taking up a large space on the page, however the
majority of the target market are not experienced or educated on
technology so may be confused by the small logos. The logos add a pop
of colour and represent the magazine as caring about the reader due to
them wanting to stay connected with them
Adverts-
The adverts along each side of the webpage are bright and catch the eye of the reader nicely,
it is advertising a business that links to the area the regional magazine covers so is relevant for
the target audience. Although, the adverts within the main text of the webpage I feel are too
much for the target audience. The target audience don’t want to feel advertised to and like
businesses just want to take their money, therefore too much advertising may actually put off
potential customers and/or infuriate them when they may be trying to find out some
information by looking at the website
Advertisement of the magazine-
This advert is likely to appeal to the target market due to its being more subtle than other adverts. As
previously stated the target market do not like to feel as though hey are being advertised to so by
showing an image of the magazine it is likely to spark the interest of the person viewing the website
without looking like the company just want the viewers money. This however may put off anyone that
has seen a similar magazine that offers a subscription offer that saves them money because this advert
does not make it clear that this magazine offers that. Therefore, it highly depends on the level of
competition this regional magazine has on whether they need to make a money saving offer obvious to
attract the target audience more than the competitors
Masthead-
The font and style of the masthead
is identical to that of the regional

separate from any other test means
the page looks more tidy than
others instead of looking
unnecessarily busy which may put
some potential customers off
Adverts-
The lack of advertising does make the page look less busy which may appeal to the target
audience but it does mean that the company could otherwise be receiving revenue for local
business that want to advertise on the website. The space at each side of the webpage that on
other websites is filled with an advert has been left blank and now just looks like wasted space
Adverts-
The advert at the top of the page has no relevance to what the website is
about, it does not advertise the magazine itself and does not advertise a local
business that is based within the region that the magazine covers. It is
therefore most likely going to be ignored by any viewer, especially as it is not
colourful or attractive. When scrolling down the webpage it is made clear that
the focus of the website is to gain revenue from having many adverts instead
of interesting content
Main text-
At first glance it is not obvious that this website is for a regional
magazine unless the viewer already knew of the magazine and its
name, this could confuse viewers, even more so because the
majority of the target audience are not going to feel confident
using the internet
Main image-
The main image is of content that is
relevant to what is currently being
featured in the magazine, the fact
that the interviews section is what
the viewer would initially see
means that people who are a fan of
any of the many celebrities
mentioned in this section are going
to want to look further into the
website and therefore possibly
purchase the magazine

  • 2. Masthead- The font and style of the masthead is identical to that of the regional magazine, the text contrasts the background so that it stands out to the reader Advertisement of the magazine- The advert at the top and centre of the page is promoting an offer for a subscription of the magazine rather than buying the magazine as a one off. This is a good way of appealing to the target audience because they are being lead to believe they will save money and the magazine will know they have their custom for the amount of months they have subscribed. The advert is placed on a part of the page where it is guaranteed that the reader will see whereas if it was placed further down the page where the reader will only see the advert if they scroll, it would cut down the views significantly Social media links- Using logos to link to social media is a good way of making it obvious what it is without taking up a large space on the page, however the majority of the target market are not experienced or educated on technology so may be confused by the small logos. The logos add a pop of colour and represent the magazine as caring about the reader due to them wanting to stay connected with them Adverts- The adverts along each side of the webpage are bright and catch the eye of the reader nicely, it is advertising a business that links to the area the regional magazine covers so is relevant for the target audience. Although, the adverts within the main text of the webpage I feel are too much for the target audience. The target audience don’t want to feel advertised to and like businesses just want to take their money, therefore too much advertising may actually put off potential customers and/or infuriate them when they may be trying to find out some information by looking at the website
  • 3. Advertisement of the magazine- This advert is likely to appeal to the target market due to its being more subtle than other adverts. As previously stated the target market do not like to feel as though hey are being advertised to so by showing an image of the magazine it is likely to spark the interest of the person viewing the website without looking like the company just want the viewers money. This however may put off anyone that has seen a similar magazine that offers a subscription offer that saves them money because this advert does not make it clear that this magazine offers that. Therefore, it highly depends on the level of competition this regional magazine has on whether they need to make a money saving offer obvious to attract the target audience more than the competitors Masthead- The font and style of the masthead is identical to that of the regional magazine, the text contrasts the background so that it stands out to the reader. The masthead being so separate from any other test means the page looks more tidy than others instead of looking unnecessarily busy which may put some potential customers off Adverts- The lack of advertising does make the page look less busy which may appeal to the target audience but it does mean that the company could otherwise be receiving revenue for local business that want to advertise on the website. The space at each side of the webpage that on other websites is filled with an advert has been left blank and now just looks like wasted space

Adverts- The advert at the top of the page has no relevance to what the website is about, it does not advertise the magazine itself and does not advertise a local business that is based within the region that the magazine covers. It is therefore most likely going to be ignored by any viewer, especially as it is not colourful or attractive. When scrolling down the webpage it is made clear that the focus of the website is to gain revenue from having many adverts instead of interesting content Main text- At first glance it is not obvious that this website is for a regional magazine unless the viewer already knew of the magazine and its name, this could confuse viewers, even more so because the majority of the target audience are not going to feel confident using the internet Main image- The main image is of content that is relevant to what is currently being featured in the magazine, the fact that the interviews section is what the viewer would initially see means that people who are a fan of any of the many celebrities mentioned in this section are going to want to look further into the website and therefore possibly purchase the magazine
