2. • Brand establishment is common in most regional magazines that I
have looked at. By stamping the magazines title on the contents as
well as the front page, the reader has the title embedded in their
minds for future reference.
• The web address can be found in a smaller font just below the
branding title. This acts as portal to the reader as they can, if they
wish to, further their knowledge of the magazine and what it has to
offer by visiting the brands website.
• This magazine has a small section dedicated to the departments
advertised on the front cover. In essence this fulfils the magazines
promise to offer information on the said events, articles and
locations. This all helps to build a strong relationship between writer
and reader encouraging a positive attitude toward the magazine.
• The heading of each numbered points is given a bright colouration
to help it stand out and grab the readers attention.
• Cornwall life magazine really boasts its use of regional imagery. The use
of multiple pictures that take up over two thirds of the page is in my
opinion extremely affective in making the page seem attractive and
manageable to the prospective target market.
• Kilbourne’s representation theory can be employed to describe some of
the imagery used. One picture in particular features a fashion model
with blemish free clear skin, good hair etc. Not truly representative but
more visually satisfying to the reader.
• The listing is formatted nicely and is ordered in clear columns
making it easy for the reader to locate individual pages that most
appeal to them. In addition to this, it used bright coloured titles to
help break apart the dense block of text and maintain the reader’s
attention
• Only a third of the page is dedicated to the content listing. The font
used on the front cover is continued throughout the issue.

1. In my design I intend to
replicate the excessive use
of imagery as it has been
proven to draw in the
attention of potential
buyers.
2. Keeping text to a minimum
is important in maintaining
the readers attention. If
they seek extra
information, they can find
this by going to the
numbered pages instead of
having an overloaded and
messy contents.
3. The brand should be re-established
and the colour
scheme should carry
through to this page form
the cover.
