Cofferdam: The word "cofferdam" comes from the word coffer meaning box. In other words, we
could say a cofferdam is a dam shaped like a box. A cofferdam is a watertight structure designed to
make construction projects in normally submerged regions easier. Such projects include bridges,
piers and the repair works in oil platforms. A dam is placed in the area of the project and water is
then removed from that area until the soil isn't submerged by water. This allows the workers to place
structural supports, repair or any other type of work in dry surroundings. A cofferdam is a temporary
structure most likely consisting of steel structures welded together, with other parts consisting of
sheet pile and sand braces. The cofferdam is usually broken down after the main work is done. The
main cases in which cofferdams are used are a very large plan area of foundation, low water depths,
soft soils in which sheet piles would easily be driven. A cofferdam involves the collaboration of the
structure itself, the oil and water and the acting loads on them including the hydrostatic forces of
water and dynamic forces caused by currents and waves. Loads acting on the cofferdam due to

Pressure ulcers continue to be problem for health care organizations, despite their aggressive move
to eliminate them in the health care setting. Furthermore, the acute care units pressure ulcers
occurrences continues to be one of the most underrated problem that has a major impact on patient
outcomes as well as reimbursement of care. Acute care patients are at a higher risk for developing
pressure ulcers than other patients within the hospital. Primarily due to the fact that patients are
hemodynamically unstable, from the use of vasopressors, the use of life saving devices, population
age and other health issues. Health care must continue to place emphasis on the prevention of
pressure ulcers in order to reduce co–morbidities and ensuing costs. The aim of this paper is to
discuss the cost of pressure ulcers, multiple risk factors associated with the development of pressure

technique. This study aims to extend on previous research pertaining to working memory capacity,
distractibility and pain perception. The objective of this study is to observe the effect distraction has
on altering pain perception relative to an individual's working memory capacity. In this study we
will utilize the operational span task (OSPAN) developed by Turner and Engle (1989) to split the
participants into high and low working memory span groups dependent on their OSPAN scores.
Participants will then engage in a simulated pain task under two conditions: distraction and no
distraction. This study will include 40 participants; 20 in the low working memory span group and
20 in the high working memory span group. We expect that the low working memory span group
will, on average, report higher pain ratings than the high working memory span group in the
experimental (distraction) condition. We hope that this study will show that the inverse relationship
between working memory and distractibility will have an effect on how people perceive pain. We
hope that the current study will guide future research in exploring alternative non–pharmacological
methods to relieve pain.

her ability to follow through on coping skills discussed and when using a subjective scale to assess
moods she reported improved moods. Jill reported mood changes to be related to interventions in

A short term wind tunnel test rig known as the QinetiQ Isentropic Light Piston Facility (ILPF) is
capable of "aero–heat transfer" testing of a turbine the size of an engine under real life conditions.
Initially this facility was designed for testing of a single high pressure turbine stage but was recently
converted to being able to test 1.5 stages of the turbine. One of the exclusive features of this facility
is the aerodynamic turbo brake that is driven by the turbine exit flow on the same shaft as the
turbine.
With this design the turbo–brake power is matched with the turbine at the design speed, which
causes the turbo brake to maintain a continuous speed while it's running. Air from a high pressure
reservoir moves a piston down a piston tube, isentropically compressing and heating the air which is
used as the working gas inside the tube. Once the preferred pressure is achieved in the reservoir, the
compressed air is quickly released out of a fast acting valve into the test area. For 500 milliseconds,
the turbine is under steady state testing conditions. The turbine stage is a modern high pressure
Rolls–Royce aero–engine design with stage pressure ratio of 3.2 and nozzle guide vane Reynolds
number of 2.54 × 10 6 .
The stage is unshrouded and blade counts for the HP stator, HP rotor, and the IP stator are 32, 60 and

A cofferdam is a watertight structure designed to make construction projects in normally submerged regions easier. Such projects include bridges, piers and the repair works in oil platforms. A dam is placed in the area of the project and water is then removed from that area until the soil isn't submerged by water. This allows the workers to place structural supports, repair or any other type of work in dry surroundings.
