My Childhood Experience
Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and
different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their
childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their best
friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have memories
of vacations, funny stories at family gatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and their dad
carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away.
When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with me
forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... Show more content

Telling us how much he loved us and that he was just gonna spend the night at his parents house for a
while until our mom calmed down. My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho the next
day to visit family . When we came home, all of my dad s stuff was gone.
In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being
happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my
childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to
photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was obsessed
with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn t care that it wasn
t the best quality or I didn t know the right angles. I knew I would learn and upgrade and that in the
meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in hopes to make up for all the lost
memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with a dreadful, fleeting childhood,
emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life.
In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could ve had. Mixed with all the bad
was some good. Like flattening out cardboard boxes and sliding down a steep, dry, grass hill because
we wanted to go sledding in the middle of July. Or going on

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa In Blood Agar
Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the Blood Agar is expected for the color of the media to stay the same.
The colony should be grayish green, and it should produce a beta hemolysis reaction, which
completely destroys all the red blood cells and clears the Blood Agar. In the Brilliant Green Agar, the
color of the media should stay the same. The colony should be pink, and it should be gram negative.
In the Eosin Methylene Blue Agar, the color of the media should stay the same. There should be no
growth in the colony, and it should be gram negative. In the Hektoen Enteric Agar, the color of the
media should be dark blue. There should be no growth in the colony, and it should be gram negative.
In the MacConkey Agar, the color of the media should stay the same. There should be no growth in
the colony, and it should be lactose negative. In the Mannitol Salt Agar, the color of the media should
be the same, and there should be no growth in the colony. In the Salmonella Shigella Agar, the color of
the media should be the same. There should no growth in the colony, and it should be gram negative.
From the results of the lab for P. aeruginosa in the Blood Agar, the color of the media stayed the same.
The color of the colony was cream, and it produced an alpha hemolysis reaction instead, which only
partially destroyed the red blood cells in the Blood Agar. In the Brilliant Green Agar, the media was
red and yellow. The color of the colony was cream, and there was lactose fermentation. In the

The Benefits Of Aging Population
It is suggested that at the rate we are going now we won t be able to accommodate the needs of an
aging population as it continually grows. I argue that this is true based on the numbers from the
research I have done. I argue for the reasons of manning in health care, money, health and the
economy with a large population getting older and ready to retire that we are going to potentially face
some serious problems. At the rate our aging population is growing I believe we will not have enough
people and facilities to take care of the aging population once they need health care for things that
come with old. The populations of most western countries are getting older, mainly the Baby
Boomers, born in the 1950s and 1960s. They live longer and had fewer children than previous
generations. (Irman, 2017). Population aging of this dimension is unique in world history. Because of
this it will pose serious challenges for the health care systems, pension schemes, and public debt
management of modern societies. (Irman, 2017), The problem is that population aging is itself a cause
for a decline in both GDP and per capita GDP . (Irman, 2017, p. 3). If you have less people in the
workforce than before that s less people paying taxes and buying goods and services. There could be
less money going into the government and more coming out for older folks for things like Social
Security and Medicare. The aging population is growing and so is the population of people getting
ready to

Scriptpad
Case 2.1 ScriptPad
Discussion question 1:
The way ScriptPad was originally positioned satisfied the four dimensions of an opportunity .
It was attractive: 1. It provided physicians to submit electronic prescriptions through iPhone, iPad and
iPod touch devices. 2. It can memorize the medical record, the dosage and the volume of the pills. It
was timely: 1. With the development of the internet and technology, the computer is used in
everywhere. With the emerging of the IPAD and Iphone. The Scriptpad is the inevitable trend. 2.
Through the years, it was approved that 40% of the handwritten prescriptions contain minor errors
(per case 2.1 in the textbook), some are even with major problems. 3. ... Show more content on

III. Also it reduces my daily work, I won t receive those call back phones from the pharmacies.
Patients won t need to wait for long time to get the medicine. They will be happy to both me and the
pharmacies.
B. Pluses of adopting ScriptPad service:
I. As above point A listed point I. II. and III. II. Easy to learn and reduce the pharmacy call backs. III.
To protect the patients to get the right pill, right dosage and the right pill volume. Some what to save
patients lives. IV. Small fee in applying the service, no need to purchase expensive infrastructure, and
can get government incentive for the offset. V. Singularly focused on one function only (electronic
prescription), which made the cost lower, not easy to make mistake when tapping the key, and easy to
learn.
C. Minuses of adopting ScriptPad service:
I. As a human being, physicians after all will tap the wrong key on their key board. Moreover
physicians must have a smart phone, or portable notepad, which will be an additional cost. II.
ScriptPad will collect charge from pharmacies through every transaction, we are afraid that it may
raises up the pill cost, since most probably pharmacies will add that cost into their pill price. III. High
cost of hardware (smart phone, notepad IV. Lost of hardware results in data and personal information

The Childhood Of A Hispanic Girl
As a hispanic girl, the typical dream which is expected of us is to want to have a quinceanera. Which
would be a large party for the transition from childhood to adulthood. However this wasn t the way it
went for me. My dreams where different. I could honestly care less about having a huge party to
celebrate me turning 15. Of course it would be great experience to have one and it is a once in a
lifetime thing as you can only turn 15 once. Yet, I tend to not want this but at the same time I long
having one. This wouldn t be for the attention that is give or presents or anything you would expect. I
would want it so that I could fulfill a long term dream. One which I have held onto for many years. I d
do it, only in order to be able to meet my other biological parent. Growing up my biological father was
not present. Thus he fails to appear in many of my childhood memories. However, if you were to ask
any other person, chances are they know their father. If not, they do remember him and have a piece of
him in their memory. Yet, this isn t my case. Therefore growing up I made it a long term goal to meet
my father. Yes, I may have meet him during the first few years of my life, as he was present there.
However my memory does not trace back up to that point. I also do not have any pictures of him. I
have been told that I show much resemblance to him, so I imagine him to have some of my own
characteristics and features. His voice is faded but remains in the back of my memory.

Climate Change
Climate change: Climate change is one of a larger set of large scale environmental changes occurring
in today s world. Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health clean air,
safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.
Over the last 50 years, Human activities particularly the burning fossil fuels have released sufficient
quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to trap additional heat in the lower
atmosphere and affect the global climate.
Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing Extreme weather
events are becoming more intense and frequent.
climate change, together with other characteristic and human made health stressors, impacts human
health and sickness from various perspectives. Some current health dangers will strengthen and new
health dangers will develop. Not every person is similarly in danger. Vital consideration incorporate
age, monetary assets, and area.
In the U.S., general health can be influenced by interruptions of physical, natural, and biological
frameworks, including unsettling influences beginning here and somewhere else. The health impacts
of these interruptions incorporate expanded respiratory and cardiovascular ailment, wounds and
unexpected losses identified with outrageous climate occasions, changes in the commonness and

nursing care facilities, residential care facilities, and offices of physicians. It is also written that
examples of these would include nursing homes, private homes, and extended care facilities. Also
according to the U.S. Department of Labor (2014) it is said that hospitals usually hire the most LPNs
to work. Also mentioned, an LPN s work environment requires them to wear scrubs as their daily
uniforms. This job results in nurses on their feet a majority of their work hours. According to a reliable

Should The Government Deplete The Price Of Illegal Drugs
Based on the given scenario, if the government declares marijuana and cocaine illegal the price of
illegal drugs increases, creating more gangs and gang welfare. Due to the high price of illegal drugs,
fewer street drugs are consumed. I personally think that the government trying to be rational about the
drug market would lead them to a market failure. In the article, it stated that a legal dispensary charged
$70 for up to 1 ounce of marijuana and less than that, 0.25 being the maximum, to customers that were
from out of town. Most cartels would take a hard hit due to the scarcity of their products because this
public policy would put marijuana and cocaine in high demand. If you consider the fact that most
cartels don t give you a limit such as the 1 oz limit offered by the legal dispensaries portrayed within
the article, they will most likely go into short supply soon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the government has been fighting a war on drugs for quite a while now and it doesn t seem
to be slowing down. The government s attempt to deplete the use of illegal drugs actually gave gangs
and drug cartels a more efficient market power because since they have a product that s high in
demand they have more influence over the economy than the government does. The government s
actions could lead to an increase in violence due to addicts killing or stealing to get their product. The

The Use Of Motor Vehicles And Their Ownership, Social And...
It s a fact, commercial vehicle use around the world is expanding, both in the developed and
developing world. It is debatable whether the use, and more specifically ownership, of a passenger
vehicle is a need, or a want, but before we consider the implications surrounding this debate, we need
to discuss what these terms mean. Needs are things such as food, water, shelter, clothing, sleep, and
comfort that are necessary for human survival. Wants are things that may increase a person s feelings
of self worth, self fulfillment, independence, and personal potential. Note that defining what is a need,
and what is a want is not always black and white, there are many things, such as passenger vehicles,
that may fall somewhere in between these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also found that fuel consumption and emissions were 20 45% higher during rush hour traffic
than in steady traffic conditions. Stopped traffic, especially during commute times, is not only a
frustration to drivers, but to business and corporations as well. Each year, traffic tie ups are estimated
to result in 1.2 billion hours of lost time, with productivity loss equal to approximately $30 billion in
the United States alone. On top of that, an estimated 2.2 billion gallons of gasoline are also lost. One
way that rush hour traffic can be reduced is through car pooling, or car sharing. An initiative in
Portland called Car Sharing Portland (CSP) has been shown as one way to effectively reduce road
traffic. Car sharing is when a group of individuals or businesses share their cars with other members,
who primarily use these vehicles for short, local trips. As a result of CSP, 26% of members sold their
own personal cars, and 53% were able to avoid purchasing their own vehicle. This is only one of
many innovative solutions that have been shown to be effective in reducing traffic congestion and
unnecessary motor vehicle ownership. When the true costs of commercial vehicles are considered, it is
easy to find solutions that can be beneficial both for you, and the environment.
The difficulty in determining whether commercial vehicle use or ownership is a need

Jesus Death Allusion
Immediately preceding Jesus death by crucifixion an oral tradition of recounting the story began to
take hold. Numerous scriptures in Evolution of the Word by Marcus J. Borg, the primary version of
the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Bible that will be used in this paper, contradict each other
not only while recounting the death of Jesus but, a plethora of times while recounting his life or the
interpretations of his message. Even though scriptures contradict each other at every turn it is hardly
enough evidence to simply proclaim that the Bible is false. Oral tradition simplified is the passage of
significant events, like Jesus crucifixion, from one generation to the next via speech. Antiquity was a
time of vast illiteracy and sub par ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the Gospel of Mark was tailored towards early Christians, the majority of which were Jewish. Roman
power had decimated the Jewish Temple and many believed that the second coming was near,
including Mark. Due to the common belief among Christians and Christian Jews that the second
coming was near Mark tailored his death narrative to appeal to his community. Mark writes in verse
15:34 that before Jesus death he cried out with a loud voice My god, my God, why have you forsaken
me? Mark uses this statement as Jesus last because he wants the Jewish Christians to better align with
Jesus. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like they were no longer in the presence of
God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with Jesus. Doctor J. Bradley Chance a professor
at William Jewell College stated that The temple has ceased to be what it is supposed to be; rather, it
has become an instrument of exclusion of both the people of God and non Jews. Mark addresses this
by writing verses 15:37 39 which stated that upon Jesus last breath the curtain of the temple was torn
in two. By using this wording Mark is attempting to illustrate that God is no longer off limits to Non
Jews, and that God is no longer confined to the Temple. During Mark s narration of Jesus death he
was not only retelling a tragic story, he was unveiling the path to God to non Jews and Jews by using
literary devices to bring them closer to

Relationship Between The Body And The City s Building
The symposium then explored the relationship between the body and the city s building in more depth
with Adam Greenhalgh s paper Body/Building: New York City around 1910. The associate curator of
the National Gallery of Art in Washington presented once more Manhattan as a living body, and his
interpretation of Excavations at night as an autopsy of the city conveys a powerful image of the city
being exposed and vulnerable like Miss Bentham. Mr Greenhalgh confessed that he tends to see the
grim side of Bellows, therefore his interpretation of his paintings does have a darker interpretation as
he desires to seek for a deeper and darker meaning than just the simple representation of a reality. His

Arguably Marin suffers the influences of the European futurists who are just emerging in Europe
during this period, which can imply that Bellows, like other Ashcanners and the French
Impressionists, did involuntarily start the concept of dynamism and its application in their paintings.
From the macabre description of New York and some of his inhabitants and the thermodynamic of
some of Bellows paintings, the symposium proceeded under a different note that still analysed the
body in relation to movement, in particular the female body in commercial art. Professor Jennifer
Greenhill presented her paper Commercial Illustration s Immaterial Bodies which focused on the
commercial artist Coles Phillips and this imagery for the mass press where design is vital to attract any
potential buyers. It was illuminating to discover this artist and some of his most characteristic works
created with a fade away technique where the body of women disappears in the background so
dematerialising their bodies. Prof Greenhill provided an excellent overview of the artist as well as his
technique and showed many eye catching images that are still incredibly powerful in terms of graphic
and design. Coles Phillips was a lawyer, a painter, but most importantly a graphic designer and his
preferred technique was the watercolour; his pictorial technique consists in

Potassium Chloride And The Molecules Through Semipermeable...
Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane
Introduction:
Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high concentration
to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into two different kinds
of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and osmosis. Dialysis is
defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass through a
semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992).
When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys
ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the kidneys
failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist, 2015). This
experiment mimics the nature of a selective plasma membrane and with time, monitors to passing of
substances in and out of the barrier. The end results should appear to show a color changing chemical
reaction within the more concentrated tube of 15%glucose/1%starch solution. Initially the clear and
milky appearance should transform into a black and deep purple hue from the attachment of iodine to
the sugar solution. The experiment has been conducted previously yielding various results. External
factors affecting the rate of diffusion play a part in this experiment. Heat due to its influence on the
thermodynamics of the molecular substances. Increasing

muscle cells produce more protein, which as long as the athletes works out, leads to increased muscle
size and strength and, at the same time, also allows the body to produce more ATP, the fuel muscles
need to move. (Horwitz). Testosterone is a naturally occurring steroid hormone that not only promotes
bone density and muscle growth, but also produces sperm in the testes. ... Perhaps the biggest myth is
that choosing testosterone replacement therapy to increase testosterone levels will produce exactly the
same side effects as abusing steroids. (What s the Difference...). Athletes are always interested in

Healthcare Technology of Today
Introduction
Healthcare technology has come a long way. I remember the days of putting my fingers on patients
wrists to take their pulse and looking up at the clock while counting, using manual blood pressure
cuffs and looking at their chest rise and fall to count for respirations. Today that picture is very
different, now, almost everything nurses do depends on the information they get from electronic
devices, and Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professionals, are responsible for the
majority of those devices (Hayhurst, 2015). In the last four weeks we covered many topics on nursing
leadership and styles. First, I learned that time management, leadership theories, learning styles,
leadership and management are all essential parts of nursing. Second, I learned that everyone has
different types of personalities and what seems right to me, is not the only way. Third, I learned about
change theories, conflict theories and leaders as change agents. Also, the conflict resolution
questionnaire analysis showed me that my style of conflict resolution is Collaboration. Last, I learned
about emotional intelligence, communication styles, and the body language quiz showed me that I
have a strong ability to read other people. Nursing informatics and Healthcare Technology is the way
of the future. With the electronic health records (EHRs)

The Crop Duster Sequence Of North By Northwest
In This essay I will discuss the use of camera movements, framing and the editing devices in the crop
duster sequence of North by Northwest (Alfred Hitchcock, USA, 1959) By focusing on these three
techniques I hope to establish what effect they have on us and how that effect is achieved? I will look
closely and analyse certain shots in this sequence, which I feel are significant in creating suspense. By
dissecting the layers of each shot, I hope to reveal the technique and intentions behind them.
The first significant shot I will discuss is just after Eva Marie Saint s face dissolves. This extreme
aerial shot established the vast area in which Cary Grant faces. The camera stays in its fixed high
angle as a bus approaches with Grant. The bus drives off and the camera angle and frame do not
change. This establishes the setting for the viewers. Such extreme high angle shots make characters
into pawns (E. Roger, 2008, 4). In other words it evokes the insignificance of a single human being in
such a vast and secluded area.
With nothing around the slow pacing in the beginning of this sequence can be seen as a tantalising
build up of suspense, not knowing what to expect. It cuts to a long shot and low angle as Grant waits
by the side of the road. This emphasises the space he is in and establishes the characters level of power
and control (Class notes, Introduction to Cinema)
A medium shot of Grant by the sign met with an eyeline match of approaching cars, which Kaplan

Threat Analysis On The Server Administration
Threat Analysis
Threats to the Server
1. Poor Server Administration
Server administrators are required to maintain a broad range of security safeguards in order to secure a
server. While backups are a valuable tool, it is not a replacement for preventative measures meant to
protect the server. If the administrator is not diligent or sufficiently knowledgeable they can introduce
a broad range of security issues. When an administrator does not configure and monitor logs, an attack
in progress can be missed, as well as reviewing any evidence left behind after an attack to develop
new procedures to block future incidences. Failing to implement a patch policy for the system and
software installed can leave the server open to attack. Server administrators who do not change
settings from default settings also leave the server open to unused services that are not needed being
left open, and default passwords in place.
2. Misconfigured Security
When security settings are not implemented properly or secured correctly attackers can exploit these
settings. This can mean default accounts being compromised, exposing the systems files, and data.
Authentication settings and user privileges on the server can be misconfigured giving incorrect
settings and allowing privilege creep as well as privilege escalation on the server.
3. Insecure Website settings
As the website is a component of the server, and is a public facing entity, it serves as a potential door
for attackers when

John Steinbeck s The American Voice
The world has depended on its resources for millions of years and John Steinbeck has put the
resources to work in a dependent way through the works of his writing. Steinbeck gives the reader
something that everyone can relate to. He allows the public to connect to an emotional level by
presenting the reader with a blend of social consciousness and sentimental value to bring out the true
inner self. Work in literature can appear to be so simple, but have such a complex and deep meaning.
Due to the stock market crash in October 1929, everyone was wiped off their feet and thrown face first
in the dirt. This was known as The Great Depression. The Depression changed many lives drastically
and brought out the real values in people that were never seen before. Steinbeck s writing does not
demonstrate the shallow outside picture; his writing gets into the deep gritty detail that brings out the
real values of the desired time period. John Steinbeck contributed to the American voice by drawing
the reader out of their own reality and into his own fantasy by giving the character s relatable traits
through their actions and not their words. With this in mind it is important to realize the unique ways
Steinbeck is able to appeal to the public and make an impact on others. Considering the fact that the
world is filled with poverty and economic concern, Steinbeck allows the reader to engage in a
connection with the characters through their actions. Every movement made is either one in the

The Fall Of Singapore
The Fall of Singapore to the Japanese happened on the 15th February 1942 and is thought to be one of
the greatest defeats in the entire history of the British Army and most likely Britain s worst defeat in
all of World War 2. Singapore was considered to be a major part of the British Empire and it was
thought to be as strong as a fortress. Improvement s to Singapore as a British military base had only
been completed in 1938, a mere 4 years before the fall of Singapore. On the 8th February 1942, the
Japanese attacked across the Johor Strait. Many of the Allied fighters were simply too far away to
have any influence on the battle as they were spread out along the 112 kilometer coastline. They were
also kept away from the battle as it was feared that the Japanese would make another attack further
along the coastline. The Japanese took 100,000 men prisoner in Singapore, of which 9,000 died. It was

Cancer Cell Essay
Breaking away: cancer cell dissemination and survival in the periphery
Once the primary tumor gains the capacity to evade host immune system and cancer cells enter the
circulation, metastatic dissemination takes place. Before metastatic dissemination, the prematastatic
niches are primed. Cell types which earlier were recruited to destroy cancer now facilitate in tumor
progression(Fig. 2). TME supports cancer cells in leaving the primary tumor site seeding in secondary
organs.
In the primary tumor one of the initial steps was EMT, during which tumor cells lose epithelial
markers and gain mesenchymal traits that confer stem like properties and a migratory phenotype. But
in secondary site, cancer cells show phenotypic switching, i.e., ... Show more content on

Hypoxia takes place in the tumor core due to deficiency of oxygen. Hypoxia mediates immune cell
recruitment (eg.; Lymphocytes in colorectal cancer) and concentrates them at the tumor periphery to
support cancer invasion at the leading edge. Hypoxia in the tumor core leads to aggressive selection
pressure for resilient stem like tumor cells due to which these cells migrate to the periphery of the
tumor.
2.3INTRAVASATION
According to Paget s hypothesis of seed and soil , cancer cells (seed) gradually acquire mutations in
oncogenes or tumour suppressor genes that confer the ability to intravasate, survive in the
haematogenous or lymphatic circulation, and prosper in a distant site (soil). This soil would have
characteristics that allow the metastatic cell to adhere and proliferate. In humans, certain tumours
metastasize to specific organ sites. For example, breast cancers metastasize to lung, liver, bone and
brain; melanoma to liver, brain and skin. By contrast, some tumors like glioma do not metastasize,
instead migrate along white matter tracks, others such as ovarian tumours are restricted to the
peritoneal cavity. Some others such as head and neck cancers only spread to regional lymph nodes.
The molecular bases of these differences are poorly if at all understood, but probably have a
microenvironmental component. Recent studies mention about the power of transcriptome profiling to
identify cohorts of genes of which

The Negative Effects Of Unnatural Weather Change
The atmosphere on the Earth is evolving. Ice age is interleaved with the a worldwide temperature
alteration. In the present age, the temperature of the Earth s atmosphere framework proceed quickly

of progressive development of normal yearly temperature of the air of the Earth and World sea. The
normal temperature on the Earth was expanded by 0.6C. There are different reasons of a dangerous
atmospheric devation, for example, human exercises, regular occasions, expanding of gasses, for
example, carbon dioxide in air and sun oriented action. Almost 200 nations have marked Kyoto

The Jacket and Seventh Grade by Gary Soto
Many authors use different structures for their writings. This can relate to Gary Soto s The Jacket and
Seventh Grade . The Jacket and Seventh Grade have different structures which build up their plot.
Three main structural distinctions between Seventh Grade and The Jacket are their point of view, the
setting, and the type of conflict. One transparent difference between The Jacket and Seventh Grade is
their point of views. In The Jacket , Soto chose a first person narration, but for Seventh Grade Soto
chose a third person omniscient narration. Throughout The Jacket , the narrator uses I, me, and my

something like bikers wear: black leather and silver studs, with enough belts to hold down a small

repetition of I during the narration. On the other hand, in Seventh Grade , the narrator uses him, she,

a girlfriend in borrowed cars... Victor couldn t stand to look at Teresa. He was sweaty with shame.

Personality Traits Of The Big Five
As we all know, humans come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. A big part of being an adult is
entering the work field and finding a career. That s where the Big five personality traits come in. The
five traits that most employers base their tests off of are; neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and openness to experience. So the next time you take a pretest for employment
would these would be good to keep in mind. Especially when determining if you re a good fit for that
position. As stated earlier, the big five personality traits are neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and openness to experience (sevencounties.org). There are other personalities that
we as people have. It s a way to express ourselves and communicate with others. But the big five was
picked to help focus in on a successful work environment. Neuroticism is how easily the person will
experience unpleasant emotions, such as depression, anger, and anxiety (sevencounties.org). This will
measure how the person will be able to handle uncomfortable situations involved with these emotions.
In the workplace we don t only have to deal with consumers, we also have to deal with our fellow
coworkers. This will help prepare someone for the workplace. The next personality is extroversion.
Extroversion describes how much energy one would have and if they would be able to interact with
others (sevencountries.org). Communication is a very import life

The City Of Orlando Is Split It Up Into 9 Districts
The City of Orlando is split it up into 9 districts. Indeed, each district has its own personality and
offers different events throughout the year. The manager of each district is in charge of these activities
and their primary goal is to always drive customers and tourists into their districts. For example, the
Small Business Saturday is an event that is held, each year, the day after Black Friday and the main
goal of each district is to get business to their stores and to celebrate with the community. For these
small businesses, this time of the year is extremely important and many of them rely on the holiday
season to accomplish their annual sales. (Orlando Sentinel, 2015).
This year is not different, the Mills50 district is going to hold the Small Business Saturday and it
needs a little bit of help to stand out of the rest. Audubon Park is one of the Orlando Districts and an
indirect competitor of Mills 50. This park has done similar activities in the past and last year for the
Small Business Saturday event they did a raffle for cash. The event was successful in getting business
to the local stores and this year they are planning on following along with the Ivanhoe District in their
annual Sip and Stroll. According to Fresh Market (2016), the event is scheduled to take place on
November 26th. The Audubon Park district is committed to create a sustainable local economy and
they want to put the area on the path to becoming an Orlando EcoDistrict. (Audubon Park, 2016).

Challenges Business Operations Performance
CHALLENGES BUSINESS OPERATIONS PERFORMANCES FACE A business can only seize
extra ordinary opportunities if it only becomes good at the average ordinary operations. How do you
ensure your business profits are escalating even as you stay focused on achieving revenue growth? At
this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational excellence is a
philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a consistent
improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee empowerment,
and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and processes in any business
perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and goals and priorities become
achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an ordeal world. There a few barriers
within the business can keep it from attaining operational excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration
A business with well coordinated exercises that merges discrete steps into joined effort will experience
continues and sustainable improvements. This is however a challenge if each organization s function
acts independently without taking into account where and how the rest of the functions can add up to
their development plans. Operational strategies would be easier to implement if only employees could
collaborate and unite to construct and act on a single plan with a general goal and clear accountability

The Society Today, People Still Belittle Women And Treat...

Theme Analysis In our society today, people still belittle women and treat them like second class
citizens. Women are just as important as men, if not better, and should be treated equally in society. I
do acknowledge the fact that we are living in a heternormative society put upon us in the United
States. As a heterosexual male, I see the bias, prejudice, and injustice that go toward gays, lesbians,
transgenders, and woman. Even though some say we are moving into a post feminism era, there is still
much that needs to be addressed and changed. Things such as equal pay for equal work, workplace
discrimination, and male generic language are some problems just to name a few. According to
Gendered Lives, sex discrimination is no longer a problem in the workplace, but they can t explain
why women earn less than men for equivalent jobs (2011). In addition, popular politicians such as
Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton are evidence that the playing field in politics is now level, but they
don t seem to realize that women only hold 17% of seats in the Senate and House of Representatives
(Bennetts, 2012). When speaking about feminism and what hardships women must endure, there is no
other book out there that describes it so detailed. The Second Sex by Simone De Beauvoir is a very
long manuscript about the hardships that women must face when living in a patriarchal society. It
starts off with the data and biology of women

The Civil Rights Activist Malcolm X
The future belongs to those who prepare for it today said Malcolm X ( 1960 s). To fully understand
what Malcolm X was trying to say, one would have to understand what future really means. Future:
the time or a period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time regarded as still to
come (Merriam). An interpretation of this is that one should prepare for the future, so that when the
future becomes the present, a person knows she or he did everything thing he could have to make
today better than yesterday. The future was always a very big concept for the Civil Rights Activist.
The future was always something the Civil Rights Activist wanted to concur by making equal rights
for people of all races, and gender. They conquered the future by getting the Jim Crow laws
abolished, and many other things like the end of discrimination. To some, the 1960 s was the golden
era for Civil Rights because of events like Bloody Sunday, and the Greensboro sit ins. These
movements, and many others, led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, many would question if
the law is still used today. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is indeed still relevant today in education,
politics, and in the workplace.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a very important law that changed a lot of things for many people of
different races, genders, and religions. The law basically outlaws discrimination based on race, color,
religion, sex, or national origin in the United States of America ( 1960 s ).

Theme Of Patriarchy In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
For centuries, books, television shows, even beloved childhood movies have subtly reinforced the
social construct of patriarchy. Classic movies such as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty follow the
typical story line of a damsel in distress, followed by a heroic man coming to her rescue. This
conception of a male focused storyline is nothing new and is an aspect that constitutes patriarchy,
which has existed since the advent of agriculture and has persisted throughout the centuries. In fact,
patriarchy was a major theme that was reinforced in the first story ever recovered; The Epic of
Gilgamesh was written as early as 2000 BC in Mesopotamia and is loosely based on the Sumerian
king, Gilgamesh. The story tells of Gilgamesh s adventures with his friend Enkidu as they conquer
everything from other men to the Bull of Heaven. Throughout the story, patriarchy is heavily
reinforced. Although the driving force behind patriarchy is personal attainment of security and status,
a number of objectively undesirable events result such as the subjugation of women and societies that
value control and dominance. The narrator reinforces different aspects of patriarchy in The Epic of
Gilgamesh by portraying men in a good light and women in a bad one, focusing society around males,
withholding agency from female females, normalizing violence, and creating the need for unequal
relationships between men and women.
The narrator of this epic consistently reinforced the stereotypical gender roles and

The Promised Analysis of Gay Suburbia
In Peacocks, Chameleons, Centaurs, Wayne Brekhaus discusses more than the promised analysis of
gay suburbia. Brekhaus presents a thorough investigation of human identity construction, which just
so happens to apply well to gay suburban life in America. The title refers to the three main types of
identity management that people use to construct their sense of self. Brekhaus defines his terms well.
Identity is defined in three ways; or, there are three different types of identity. These three identity
types include the following: first, there are broad group identities; then, there are the commonly
recognized dimensions along which group identities are formed, such as sexual identity; and finally,
there is self identity. An individual can have multiple identities; what Brekhaus explores is how
individuals manage these sometimes disparate identities in one persona. The person will have a core
self, or true self, the very core of a person that reflects an inner, true, unchanging, context independent
essence of human being (Brekhaus 23). Brekhaus posits three main methods of managing identity, or
three identity types. Those three identity types include the lifestyler (peacocks); the commuter
(chameleon); and the integrator (centaur). These are also what Brekhaus refers to as identity
grammars, as there is a grammar or structure by which identity is formed. Each of these three identity
management types (lifestyler, commuter, and centaur) corresponds with a grammatical

The Discovery Of Norwegian Viking Culture
In 1903 a miraculous discovery was made in western Norway. Under a large mound on a small farm in
the Vestford region, there was unearthed a massive Viking ship. Its treasures and contents were so
large they are still being studied today. The Oseberg ship burial, as it has come to be known, gives us
important information on Norwegian Viking culture. This essay will look at the history of its
discovery, the ship itself, its objects, the intriguing carvings, the intricate fabrics, and of course, the

All the wooden objects were preserved, although broken by mechanical means, through the great
pressure of the masses of earth above. (Brøgger, 1921) As the digging continued Prof. Gustafson and
Mr. Shetelig began to unearth what they believed was a Viking longship. Instead, what they found was
a class of Viking ship called a karv. A karv is shorter than a longship and unlike the naval longship, is
used in everyday life to transport people or goods. They were mostly used in shallow waters. This was
further supported by the fact that the discovery was close to an ancient riverbed. (Brøgger, 1921) Like
many other Viking ships it was clinker built. This means each board of the hull overlaps the one below
and is attached with iron rivets. The Oseberg ship pointed north to south in its barrow. The ship
measured 21.5 m long and 5.0 m wide. It was made of oak with a pine deck. It had 15 pine oars. The
mast was 9 10 m tall and was found laying in the ship with a sail that was 90 m. The prow and stern
were decorated with animal carvings. Unfortunately the ship and its contents were broken into
thousands of pieces. The ship was later dendrodated to ca. 820. When Gustafson began digging the
first thing he found was some carved wood. He had no idea how important this would be. The prow

  • 5. My Childhood Experience Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have memories of vacations, funny stories at family gatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away. When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with me forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Telling us how much he loved us and that he was just gonna spend the night at his parents house for a while until our mom calmed down. My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho the next day to visit family . When we came home, all of my dad s stuff was gone. In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was obsessed with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn t care that it wasn t the best quality or I didn t know the right angles. I knew I would learn and upgrade and that in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in hopes to make up for all the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with a dreadful, fleeting childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life. In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could ve had. Mixed with all the bad was some good. Like flattening out cardboard boxes and sliding down a steep, dry, grass hill because we wanted to go sledding in the middle of July. Or going on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Benefits Of Aging Population It is suggested that at the rate we are going now we won t be able to accommodate the needs of an aging population as it continually grows. I argue that this is true based on the numbers from the research I have done. I argue for the reasons of manning in health care, money, health and the economy with a large population getting older and ready to retire that we are going to potentially face some serious problems. At the rate our aging population is growing I believe we will not have enough people and facilities to take care of the aging population once they need health care for things that come with old. The populations of most western countries are getting older, mainly the Baby Boomers, born in the 1950s and 1960s. They live longer and had fewer children than previous generations. (Irman, 2017). Population aging of this dimension is unique in world history. Because of this it will pose serious challenges for the health care systems, pension schemes, and public debt management of modern societies. (Irman, 2017), The problem is that population aging is itself a cause for a decline in both GDP and per capita GDP . (Irman, 2017, p. 3). If you have less people in the workforce than before that s less people paying taxes and buying goods and services. There could be less money going into the government and more coming out for older folks for things like Social Security and Medicare. The aging population is growing and so is the population of people getting ready to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It provided physicians to submit electronic prescriptions through iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. 2. It can memorize the medical record, the dosage and the volume of the pills. It was timely: 1. With the development of the internet and technology, the computer is used in everywhere. With the emerging of the IPAD and Iphone. The Scriptpad is the inevitable trend. 2. Through the years, it was approved that 40% of the handwritten prescriptions contain minor errors (per case 2.1 in the textbook), some are even with major problems. 3. ... Minuses of adopting ScriptPad service: I. As a human being, physicians after all will tap the wrong key on their key board. Moreover physicians must have a smart phone, or portable notepad, which will be an additional cost. II. ScriptPad will collect charge from pharmacies through every transaction, we are afraid that it may raises up the pill cost, since most probably pharmacies will add that cost into their pill price. Which would be a large party for the transition from childhood to adulthood. However this wasn t the way it went for me. My dreams where different. I could honestly care less about having a huge party to celebrate me turning 15. Of course it would be great experience to have one and it is a once in a lifetime thing as you can only turn 15 once. Yet, I tend to not want this but at the same time I long having one. This wouldn t be for the attention that is give or presents or anything you would expect. I would want it so that I could fulfill a long term dream. One which I have held onto for many years. I d do it, only in order to be able to meet my other biological parent. Growing up my biological father was not present. Thus he fails to appear in many of my childhood memories. However, if you were to ask any other person, chances are they know their father. If not, they do remember him and have a piece of him in their memory. Yet, this isn t my case. Therefore growing up I made it a long term goal to meet my father. Yes, I may have meet him during the first few years of my life, as he was present there. However my memory does not trace back up to that point. I also do not have any pictures of him. I have been told that I show much resemblance to him, so I imagine him to have some of my own characteristics and features. His voice is faded but remains in the back of my memory. My ... Should The Government Deplete The Price Of Illegal Drugs Based on the given scenario, if the government declares marijuana and cocaine illegal the price of illegal drugs increases, creating more gangs and gang welfare. Due to the high price of illegal drugs, fewer street drugs are consumed. I personally think that the government trying to be rational about the drug market would lead them to a market failure. In the article, it stated that a legal dispensary charged $70 for up to 1 ounce of marijuana and less than that, 0.25 being the maximum, to customers that were from out of town. Most cartels would take a hard hit due to the scarcity of their products because this public policy would put marijuana and cocaine in high demand. It is debatable whether the use, and more specifically ownership, of a passenger vehicle is a need, or a want, but before we consider the implications surrounding this debate, we need to discuss what these terms mean. Needs are things such as food, water, shelter, clothing, sleep, and comfort that are necessary for human survival. Wants are things that may increase a person s feelings of self worth, self fulfillment, independence, and personal potential. Stopped traffic, especially during commute times, is not only a frustration to drivers, but to business and corporations as well. On top of that, an estimated 2.2 billion gallons of gasoline are also lost. One way that rush hour traffic can be reduced is through car pooling, or car sharing. An initiative in Portland called Car Sharing Portland (CSP) has been shown as one way to effectively reduce road traffic. Car sharing is when a group of individuals or businesses share their cars with other members, who primarily use these vehicles for short, local trips. Roman power had decimated the Jewish Temple and many believed that the second coming was near, including Mark. Due to the common belief among Christians and Christian Jews that the second coming was near Mark tailored his death narrative to appeal to his community. Mark writes in verse 15:34 that before Jesus death he cried out with a loud voice My god, my God, why have you forsaken me? Mark uses this statement as Jesus last because he wants the Jewish Christians to better align with Jesus. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like they were no longer in the presence of God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with Jesus. Doctor J. Bradley Chance a professor at William Jewell College stated that The temple has ceased to be what it is supposed to be; rather, it has become an instrument of exclusion of both the people of God and non Jews. Mark addresses this by writing verses 15:37 39 which stated that upon Jesus last breath the curtain of the temple was torn in two. By using this wording Mark is attempting to illustrate that God is no longer off limits to Non Jews, and that God is no longer confined to the Temple. During Mark s narration of Jesus death he was not only retelling a tragic story, he was unveiling the path to God to non Jews and Jews by using literary devices to bring them closer to ... Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992). When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. The Crop Duster Sequence Of North By Northwest In This essay I will discuss the use of camera movements, framing and the editing devices in the crop duster sequence of North by Northwest (Alfred Hitchcock, USA, 1959) By focusing on these three techniques I hope to establish what effect they have on us and how that effect is achieved? I will look closely and analyse certain shots in this sequence, which I feel are significant in creating suspense. By dissecting the layers of each shot, I hope to reveal the technique and intentions behind them. The first significant shot I will discuss is just after Eva Marie Saint s face dissolves. This extreme aerial shot established the vast area in which Cary Grant faces. The camera stays in its fixed high angle as a bus approaches with Grant. The bus drives off and the camera angle and frame do not change. This establishes the setting for the viewers. Such extreme high angle shots make characters into pawns (E. Roger, 2008, 4). In other words it evokes the insignificance of a single human being in such a vast and secluded area. With nothing around the slow pacing in the beginning of this sequence can be seen as a tantalising build up of suspense, not knowing what to expect. It cuts to a long shot and low angle as Grant waits by the side of the road. Poor Server Administration Server administrators are required to maintain a broad range of security safeguards in order to secure a server. While backups are a valuable tool, it is not a replacement for preventative measures meant to protect the server. If the administrator is not diligent or sufficiently knowledgeable they can introduce a broad range of security issues. When an administrator does not configure and monitor logs, an attack in progress can be missed, as well as reviewing any evidence left behind after an attack to develop new procedures to block future incidences. Failing to implement a patch policy for the system and software installed can leave the server open to attack. Server administrators who do not change settings from default settings also leave the server open to unused services that are not needed being left open, and default passwords in place. 2. Misconfigured Security When security settings are not implemented properly or secured correctly attackers can exploit these settings. This can mean default accounts being compromised, exposing the systems files, and data. Authentication settings and user privileges on the server can be misconfigured giving incorrect settings and allowing privilege creep as well as privilege escalation on the server. 3. John Steinbeck contributed to the American voice by drawing the reader out of their own reality and into his own fantasy by giving the character s relatable traits through their actions and not their words. With this in mind it is important to realize the unique ways Steinbeck is able to appeal to the public and make an impact on others. • 35. The Jacket and Seventh Grade by Gary Soto Many authors use different structures for their writings. This can relate to Gary Soto s The Jacket and Seventh Grade . The Jacket and Seventh Grade have different structures which build up their plot. Three main structural distinctions between Seventh Grade and The Jacket are their point of view, the setting, and the type of conflict. One transparent difference between The Jacket and Seventh Grade is their point of views. In The Jacket , Soto chose a first person narration, but for Seventh Grade Soto chose a third person omniscient narration. Throughout The Jacket , the narrator uses I, me, and my very often: When I needed a new jacket and my mother asked what kind I wanted, I described something like bikers wear: black leather and silver studs, with enough belts to hold down a small town. (Soto) This quote from the story shows Soto is using first person narration because of the repetition of I during the narration. On the other hand, in Seventh Grade , the narrator uses him, she, they, and knows the inner thoughts of the characters: He remembered his college years when he dated a girlfriend in borrowed cars... Victor couldn t stand to look at Teresa. He was sweaty with shame. (Soto) The narrator uses he, she, and they often because he is not in the story, proving that Seventh Grade is a third person narration. When the narrator shows what Mr. Bueller is thinking in his past years in college, and what Victor is feeling (shame), he portrays ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The City Of Orlando Is Split It Up Into 9 Districts The City of Orlando is split it up into 9 districts. Indeed, each district has its own personality and offers different events throughout the year. The manager of each district is in charge of these activities and their primary goal is to always drive customers and tourists into their districts. For example, the Small Business Saturday is an event that is held, each year, the day after Black Friday and the main goal of each district is to get business to their stores and to celebrate with the community. For these small businesses, this time of the year is extremely important and many of them rely on the holiday season to accomplish their annual sales. (Orlando Sentinel, 2015). This year is not different, the Mills50 district is going to hold the Small Business Saturday and it needs a little bit of help to stand out of the rest. Audubon Park is one of the Orlando Districts and an indirect competitor of Mills 50. This park has done similar activities in the past and last year for the Small Business Saturday event they did a raffle for cash. The event was successful in getting business to the local stores and this year they are planning on following along with the Ivanhoe District in their annual Sip and Stroll. According to Fresh Market (2016), the event is scheduled to take place on November 26th. • 38. Challenges Business Operations Performance CHALLENGES BUSINESS OPERATIONS PERFORMANCES FACE A business can only seize extra ordinary opportunities if it only becomes good at the average ordinary operations. How do you ensure your business profits are escalating even as you stay focused on achieving revenue growth? At this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational excellence is a philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a consistent improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee empowerment, and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and processes in any business perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and goals and priorities become achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an ordeal world. There a few barriers within the business can keep it from attaining operational excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration A business with well coordinated exercises that merges discrete steps into joined effort will experience continues and sustainable improvements. This is however a challenge if each organization s function acts independently without taking into account where and how the rest of the functions can add up to their development plans. Operational strategies would be easier to implement if only employees could collaborate and unite to construct and act on a single plan with a general goal and clear accountability for ... • 39. The Society Today, People Still Belittle Women And Treat... Bruce Guu Raven Pfister Communication 412 5 May 2015 Theme Analysis In our society today, people still belittle women and treat them like second class citizens. Women are just as important as men, if not better, and should be treated equally in society. I do acknowledge the fact that we are living in a heternormative society put upon us in the United States. As a heterosexual male, I see the bias, prejudice, and injustice that go toward gays, lesbians, transgenders, and woman. Even though some say we are moving into a post feminism era, there is still much that needs to be addressed and changed. Things such as equal pay for equal work, workplace discrimination, and male generic language are some problems just to name a few. According to Gendered Lives, sex discrimination is no longer a problem in the workplace, but they can t explain why women earn less than men for equivalent jobs (2011). In addition, popular politicians such as Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton are evidence that the playing field in politics is now level, but they don t seem to realize that women only hold 17% of seats in the Senate and House of Representatives (Bennetts, 2012). When speaking about feminism and what hardships women must endure, there is no other book out there that describes it so detailed. The Second Sex by Simone De Beauvoir is a very long manuscript about the hardships that women must face when living in a patriarchal society. It starts off with the data and biology of women ... • 40. The Civil Rights Activist Malcolm X The future belongs to those who prepare for it today said Malcolm X ( 1960 s). To fully understand what Malcolm X was trying to say, one would have to understand what future really means. Future: the time or a period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time regarded as still to come (Merriam). An interpretation of this is that one should prepare for the future, so that when the future becomes the present, a person knows she or he did everything thing he could have to make today better than yesterday. The future was always a very big concept for the Civil Rights Activist. The future was always something the Civil Rights Activist wanted to concur by making equal rights for people of all races, and gender. They conquered the future by getting the Jim Crow laws abolished, and many other things like the end of discrimination. To some, the 1960 s was the golden era for Civil Rights because of events like Bloody Sunday, and the Greensboro sit ins. These movements, and many others, led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, many would question if the law is still used today. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is indeed still relevant today in education, politics, and in the workplace. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a very important law that changed a lot of things for many people of different races, genders, and religions. The law basically outlaws discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in the United States of America ( 1960 s ). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Theme Of Patriarchy In The Epic Of Gilgamesh For centuries, books, television shows, even beloved childhood movies have subtly reinforced the social construct of patriarchy. Classic movies such as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty follow the typical story line of a damsel in distress, followed by a heroic man coming to her rescue. This conception of a male focused storyline is nothing new and is an aspect that constitutes patriarchy, which has existed since the advent of agriculture and has persisted throughout the centuries. In fact, patriarchy was a major theme that was reinforced in the first story ever recovered; The Epic of Gilgamesh was written as early as 2000 BC in Mesopotamia and is loosely based on the Sumerian king, Gilgamesh. The story tells of Gilgamesh s adventures with his friend Enkidu as they conquer everything from other men to the Bull of Heaven. Throughout the story, patriarchy is heavily reinforced. Although the driving force behind patriarchy is personal attainment of security and status, a number of objectively undesirable events result such as the subjugation of women and societies that value control and dominance. The narrator reinforces different aspects of patriarchy in The Epic of Gilgamesh by portraying men in a good light and women in a bad one, focusing society around males, withholding agency from female females, normalizing violence, and creating the need for unequal relationships between men and women. The narrator of this epic consistently reinforced the stereotypical gender roles and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Promised Analysis of Gay Suburbia In Peacocks, Chameleons, Centaurs, Wayne Brekhaus discusses more than the promised analysis of gay suburbia. Brekhaus presents a thorough investigation of human identity construction, which just so happens to apply well to gay suburban life in America. The title refers to the three main types of identity management that people use to construct their sense of self. Brekhaus defines his terms well. Identity is defined in three ways; or, there are three different types of identity. These three identity types include the following: first, there are broad group identities; then, there are the commonly recognized dimensions along which group identities are formed, such as sexual identity; and finally, there is self identity. An individual can have multiple identities; what Brekhaus explores is how individuals manage these sometimes disparate identities in one persona. The person will have a core self, or true self, the very core of a person that reflects an inner, true, unchanging, context independent essence of human being (Brekhaus 23). Brekhaus posits three main methods of managing identity, or three identity types. Those three identity types include the lifestyler (peacocks); the commuter (chameleon); and the integrator (centaur). These are also what Brekhaus refers to as identity grammars, as there is a grammar or structure by which identity is formed. Each of these three identity management types (lifestyler, commuter, and centaur) corresponds with a grammatical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Discovery Of Norwegian Viking Culture In 1903 a miraculous discovery was made in western Norway. Under a large mound on a small farm in the Vestford region, there was unearthed a massive Viking ship. Its treasures and contents were so large they are still being studied today. The Oseberg ship burial, as it has come to be known, gives us important information on Norwegian Viking culture. This essay will look at the history of its discovery, the ship itself, its objects, the intriguing carvings, the intricate fabrics, and of course, the bodies . By studying the Oseberg burial ship we can learn about burial practices, Norwegian Viking diets, Norwegian dress and decoration, shipbuilding practices, arts, and religion. All the wooden objects were preserved, although broken by mechanical means, through the great pressure of the masses of earth above. (Brøgger, 1921) As the digging continued Prof. Gustafson and Mr. Shetelig began to unearth what they believed was a Viking longship. Instead, what they found was a class of Viking ship called a karv. A karv is shorter than a longship and unlike the naval longship, is used in everyday life to transport people or goods. They were mostly used in shallow waters. This was further supported by the fact that the discovery was close to an ancient riverbed. (Brøgger, 1921) Like many other Viking ships it was clinker built. This means each board of the hull overlaps the one below and is attached with iron rivets. The Oseberg ship pointed north to south in its barrow. The ship measured 21.5 m long and 5.0 m wide. It was made of oak with a pine deck. It had 15 pine oars. The mast was 9 10 m tall and was found laying in the ship with a sail that was 90 m. The prow and stern were decorated with animal carvings. Unfortunately the ship and its contents were broken into thousands of pieces. The ship was later dendrodated to ca. 820. When Gustafson began digging the first thing he found was some carved wood. He had no idea how important this would be. The prow and the stern of the ship were covered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
