2. High School Vs. High Schools
August 10, the trailer hitched and fully loaded with tack, suitcases, and one 1,300 pound steer named
Bandit. With Grandpa at the wheel and a full tank of gas we were on our way to the state fair.
Although I was excited to be cruising down Highway 30 there was one problem we weren t going to
be home until the 13th and volleyball practice started on the 11th. High schools are focusing more on
sports than any other extra curricular activity could create serious penalties for missing the first three
practices. On the other hand, I had worked with Bandit since the previous May when he was just a
mere 100 pounds. I had also been playing volleyball since the 7th grade and I was now a junior. The
dilemma of which to choose created some mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sports have two options for involvement play the game or sit the bench; however in FFA there are
uncountable options for student involvement. In FFA no matter the involvement level a member is still
a part of an organization nearly 600,000 students strong. In a sport you learn to work as a team with
the others you see at school every day, in FFA you can meet people and work with a team from all
around the U.S. by attending events such as State and National Convention, Washington Leadership
Conference, and FFA Competitions. The Northeast FFA Chapter offered the opportunity for 5
sophomores this past summer to go on the Washington Leadership Conference. Lucky enough to be
one of these participants I rode the 22 hour bus ride to D.C. and on the way there I had already met
several people from around Iowa and as soon as I got there I met my roommates. My roommates were
from Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio. Throughout the week we got to meet more kids from around the
U.S. like New Jersey, South Dakota, and more as a big group we packaged nearly 30,000 meals in one
morning, we traveled to Arlington National Cemetery and paid respect for those who died for our
freedom, and traveled the subway inspiring D.C. natives with our blue and gold jacket all week.
Packaging meals inspired us to think about other people and what an advantage we have just in food.
All of those 30,000 meals stayed in the D.C. area and they would all be used before the month was up.

the National Leadership Conference in Chicago Illinois. The National Leadership Conference is the
biggest and most anticipated conference of the year and is also where members of FBLA have the
opportunity to see who is the best of the best by competing in competitions that they qualified for at
the State Leadership Conference. This year Lakeland High School FBLA had seven competitors
competing in Future Business Leader, Parliamentary Procedure Team, Job Interview, Banking and
Financial System and Help Desk. All our competitors spend a lot of hard work and dedication
studying for their competitions unfortunately however our competitors fell short this year of getting on
stage. Even though none of them placed at Nationals, Lakeland High School is proud of them making

4. Essay On White Americans
When asked to validate a statement such as the one mentioned that references the disadvantages of
minorities versus those of White Americans the three most significant obstacles, in my opinion, are
employment, education, and crime. If you have a group of people who are subordinate in those three
categories, you have individuals who are positively underprivileged. Let us begin with employment or
joblessness. Unfortunately, socioeconomic status, income, employment, and unemployment are
determined by some level of race and ethnicity. In the early 1980 s when low skilled jobs and high
wage workers wandered out of the central portion of the city, therefore increasing space and
inaccessibility to jobs, that was the beginning of employment trouble and social detachment. Even
after managing for local conditions, there was still a sizable extensive employment disadvantage for
blacks (D Amico Maxwell, 1995) As urban centralization increased and industry continued to move
the high, and low wages/skills and minority migration to the inner cities intensified(D Amico
Maxwell, 1995). It was this continued shift that left minorities reduced to an area that suffered from
high rates of joblessness, welfare dependency, crime and single parent households. There was now an
exclusion from job networks and confinement to poor quality schooling, which materialized into lousy
working habits(D Amico Maxwell, 1995).
Next, we factor in the disadvantages for minorities in education as it

Zinc, a common mineral located on the periodic table, plays a significant role in how our bodies
function. Found in different foods like meats, nuts, dairy products and certain vegetables; Zinc is an
essential nutrient that the body needs on a regular basis. The RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance)
of Zinc for adult males is 11mg per day and 8mg per day for females. A daily intake of zinc is
recommended because the body does not have a specific way to store it. Besides not having a way to

determine the influence of seminal plasma zinc on seminogram characteristics and whether

divided up into two groups: A subjects with normal ejaculates and B subjects with abnormal
ejaculates. The subjects in the abnormal group were then divided up into 3 sub groups:
Asthenoteratozoospermics, Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Each of these groups
represents a sample with specific parameters on sperm concentration, sperm motility, and sperm
morphology. When looking at the results of the samples, statistics show that group A had the highest
mean Zinc level of seminal plasma which was then followed by Asthenoteratozoospermics,
Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Overall the study concluded that the measurement
of Zinc in human seminal plasma plays an important role in the evaluation of male infertility and it
can increase the quality of semen. Information like this can be beneficial to couples wanting to have a

Her father walked in holding a sword. He stood over her. Alia was brave, she didn t cry, didn t speak,

her onto his back. The ram then ran to Pollo and knocked down all of the guards surrounding him. He

Good Volumetric Techniques
To achieve a good volumetric technique, the experimenter needs to be able to correctly complete
certain procedures.
Before beginning an experiment, it is good to calibrate any equipment that needs calibration. This
ensures that results obtain will be as accurate as possible or as near to the true value. All equipment
should be inspected to ensure that there are no chips, cracks or general damage to the equipment as
these could cause problems during the experiment which could affect the overall results gained.
Equipment such as burettes, pipettes, flasks and beakers must be rinsed with distilled water to get rid
of any impurities in the equipment. If solutions are to be poured in any piece of equipment then the
equipment should also be rinsed out with the solution being used, this will maintain the pH level in the
instrument. Once a solution is transferred from the pipette to the flask, touching the tip of the pipette
on the side of the flask will drain any extra drops that may still remain on the tip of the pipette. When
filling up the burette it is important that a funnel is used, however as the solution reaches the 0 mark it
is ideal that the funnel be removed and a pipette used instead to reach the 0 mark, this is to achieve
greater precision. During the experiment, it is important to swirl the flask continuously with one hand

12. Eminent Domain Should Be Used For The Good Of Mankind Essay
Imagine getting a visitor at your front door, and the visitor offers you a very generous amount of
money for them to take you property for public use. For some people it is the property they grew up
on, and for others it is the property that has been passed down through family generations. That is
what happens when private property owners experience eminent domain. Eminent domain can be a
wonderful thing for big companies and powerful leaders. On the other hand, people lose their homes,
or perhaps their farmland. Those who offer eminent domain often have big plans that can benefit a
community, but the huge loss here is people losing their homes. Most companies will only enforce
eminent domain if they have no other choice. Other companies do it purely for themselves. Eminent
domain should be used for the good of mankind, because it has the power to put some good places in
this world if done correctly. Doing some research on eminent domain I came across the April 2010
issue of the Yale Law Journal. One of the notes in that issue mentioned the history of eminent domain,
and it was called Eminent domain due process by Zachary Hudson. Hudson talks about how after
eminent domain was founded; it was argued that it the power of eminent domain was or was not in the
Constitution. Hudson says that Congress did not pass a statute authorizing the use of eminent domain
more generally until 1867 when it did so to aid in the development of national cemeteries following
the civil war

13. Group Observation Of Group Behaviors
Group Observation At the beginning of the group, the facilitator asked the clients to identify group
norms. The clients identified these group norms and wrote them on the white board; raise your hand,
no crosstalk or side conversations, stay awake, be respectful of peers/facilitator and property, keep
things discussed in group confidential and be willing to participate and offer support when needed.
The group facilitator followed the Seeking Safety session format which is explained in the Seeking
Safety: A treatment manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse written by Lisa M. Najavits. The session
format includes four steps; 1) check in, 2) quotation, 3) relate the topic to patients lives and 4) check
out (Najavits, n.d., p. 147 169).
The goal of the check in step is to find out how clients are doing and should not take more than five
minutes per participant. The check in consists of four questions that clients may answer if they are
willing to do so; how are you feeling, what good coping have you done, describe your substance used
and any other unsafe behavior, and did you complete your commitment? The facilitator informed the
clients that the check in process is optional and did not pressure clients to participate. From the
observer perspective, this seemed to empower the clients and give them choice. All the clients present
in the group were willing to participate in the check in process.
The next step in the session format is to read the quotation. Each topic in the

15. Arguments In Defense Of Ethical Relativism
1. Ethical Relativism is the moral theory that there are no absolute standards of Ethics. It looks at
notions of right or wrong as dependent upon an individual s interpretations, this is subjectivism, which
regards morality as personal resolutions. Ethical Relativism contends that morals are also culturally
based. Conventionalism, is the notion that morals are given value only within the context of social
expectations. The Diversity Thesis depends on the Anthropological fact that different societies have
differing moral codes. Furthermore, moralities are fluctuate as societies and people evolve. Therefore,
in Ethical Relativism, there are no universally valid moral standards and all ethical principles are

Imagine being rescued after suffering a major car wreck, only to be kidnapped by your number one
fan. Starring Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes, James Caan as Paul Sheldon, Richard Farnsworth as
Buster, and Frances Sternhagen as Virginia, Misery is a psychological thriller produced and directed
by Rob Reiner. In this 1990 psychological thriller film you will experience thrill, action, suspense,
despair and misery, all powered by composer Marc Shaiman and his use of music to set the mood for
the audience.
Films and movies are a composition of elements that make that essentially come together as one to
form a piece of art. Although a film is not complete with missing elements, some elements when used
out of place can break a movie. Some of these elements include, but are not limited to, a character s
costume and makeup, lighting, camera direction, acting, special effects, and, sound effects and music.
In some films one element may be the overriding factor but when put together, these elements work
together to please an audience.
Each element on its own, has an important role it plays in the creation of a film or movie. In Misery,
for example, the choice of music composition used for major scenes in the movie helps to build on the
plot, suspense and rising action, on many other scenes, the fast paced music led to nail biting and hair
pulling moments. Without the wise choice of the fast paced string, Classical music, Misery would

19. Resource Based Sources of Competitive Advantage
| Critically discuss the importance of resource based sources of competitive advantage in one of the
industries studied on this module. You should discuss a range of companies. Competitive advantage is
when a firm sustains profits that exceed the average for its industry. The goal of much of business
strategy is to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Porter identified two basic types of
competitive advantage; cost and differentiation. These two advantages are known as positional
advantages as they describe the firm s position in the industry as a leader in either cost or

This core competence is of vital importance as the inability to innovate in today s ever changing
environment may lead to entropy and ultimately cessation of trade. Being truly competitive. It is
crucial that a resource ultimately delivers a true competitive advantage. This core competence
highlights the fact that it is not enough for an organisation just to realise the resource as being a
strength, but that it must also be able to prove that it is of both better quality and at a lower cost than
the competition. This in basic terms means that it is not good enough for instance to produce a low
cost, high quality product, but that it must have not only lower costs than the competitors, it must also
produce items of a higher quality or standard that that of its competitors. An example of this is to
consider that if Rolls Royce s Far East division does not produce higher quality at a lower cost than
both General Electric and Pratt amp; Whitney, it could not gain competitive advantage as this core
competence would not be relevant in this situation. Substitutability. A resource is more likely to be
able to gain competitive advantage if it cannot be substituted. Although the resource based view is in
opposition to Porter s views on strategy, his five forces model identified the threat of substitutes as an
environmental force that can influence an organisation in gaining

23. Disadvantages Of Foreign Aid
Before we start talking and analyzing aid in all its dimensions, one has first to better understand what
aid represents in all its complicity. Beginning with the theories of aid during the last sanctuary, we can
say that different disciplines of theoreticians give diverse interpretations of the phenomenon of foreign
aid. The realists think that the most important dimension of aid is its purpose, especially when it is
used as an instrument of diplomacy. Given the assumption that states behave in an anarchic
environment, the realists see foreign aid as an instrument used to ensure state security, protection of its
political and economic interests. Therefore, taking into consideration that aid in this case is given
having donor`s interests at the core of motivation, its capability to achieve developmental purposes are
meagre. On the other hand, the Marxists school of thought and postmodern tradition relates aid to the
dependency theory by dividing foreign aid in tow group of interesting party s. Moreover, they
emphasize the world system theory through a dependency relationship between a group of wealthy ...

Foreign aid is offered for many purposes and ways and the dilemma of aid is not whether aid works or
not, but how and when varied instrument can be made to work better in different country
circumstances (Hansen and Tarp 2000, pp. 19 20). Another study conducted by Minoiu and Reddy
argues that aid matters for economical growth and it can contribute significantly, but only specific
kinds of aid have clear cut impact on growth and only in a long term. Overall, foreign aid has a
significant effect in those cases when it ranks high in the aid quality index while geopolitical aid has
been found with zero or negative effect on

24. Texting And Driving Cause Death Essay
The facts are astounding and horrific. According to the Association for Safe and International Travel,
nearly 1.3 million individuals are killed in road related crashes each year. This accounts for 3,287
deaths each day. Among the statistics, is the fact, that car related accidents are the leading cause of
death among young adults ages 15 through 29. It is also the second leading cause of death worldwide
among young people ages 5 through 14. Unless action is taken, car related deaths are expected to
become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030.
One of the actions I would propose is changing the age where teenagers can first get their license. In

offenders. According to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, 1/3 of all drivers arrested or convicted of
drunk driving are repeat offenders. In Wisconsin, a man was arrested for his tenth D.W.I. Also, in

Why isn t the law more forceful? Why can an individual get a 27th D.W.I and nothing is done before
hand? If we as a nation step up, we can prevent less drinking and driving related crashes. This rings
true especially for repeated offenders. If you have 27th D.W.I. convictions, you should never be

25. The Three Terminologies
The use of online health records is increasing worldwide. Well, the explanation of these digital health
records sometimes get quite complex when we think of the users, healthcare setting, the health
information and certainly the technology. Three terminologies are commonly used to explain digital
health records Electronic health Records (EHR), Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Personal
Health Record (PHR). Regrettably, the definition of all these terminologies differs all over the world
and creates confusion, both inside and outside the health industry. So, in order to differentiate the three
terminologies, we have to understand the two aspects that could possibly separate the three
terminologies. First is the plenitude of the health information

26. Burning The American Flag Persuasive Speech
What do you see when you think of the American flag?Did you automatically see the stars and stripes?
The flag as we know it today hasn t always been that way.1176 was the first time we started to see the
flag look like today s current look. The British Union Jack was on the flag in the beginning, according
to a recent study. In M.R. Bennett s ...So Strongly and kindly Streaming, we learn further how
Congress brought together the idea for the flag as we have it today. Bennett states, Congress on June

Burning, of course, is the only way that a flag can be thrown out (in the trash). If you read the
Constitution, nowhere does it talk about/say that burning the flag for any other reason, such as
political disagreement, is illegal. The same goes for the Bill of Rights. In today s country loving
climate, there are people who want to see flag burning prohibited by an (agreeing with, or related to,
the Constitution) Change. But many people believe that burning the flag as an example of
disagreement is covered by our First Amendment Freedom of Speech. Former United States Senator
and space traveler John Glenn made the following statement before the Senate (related to judges and
the court system) Committee: Anybody burning the flag in protest is clearly saying something. They
are making a statement by their body language, and what they are doing makes a statement that maybe

represents something else) wrong, and want to make flag burning as a protest a major

With this increase in wealth, combined with the continual increase in population size, there should
always be a strong market for luxury goods. Technological advancements have played a major role in
the industry since the late 1990s. Jewelry in particular has a very high weight to value ratio, which
makes shipping easy and keeps shipping costs relatively low. Internet sales have passed catalogue
sales in over 10 of the top 15 luxury jewelry companies. Tiffany Co. s internet sales passed its
catalogue sales shortly after the company opened its website in 1999. The complaint that the company
operated stores closed before a majority of the workforce went home for the day, is now somewhat
outdated now that Tiffany has a very effective and functional website that can be accessed 24 hours a
day. This year, Tiffany Co. announced that over 60% of its direct sales were generated through their
website. Demographic trends play a much smaller role in the luxury jewelry business than it does in
many other industries. Tiffany Co. s various jewelry collections cater to virtually all ages, ranging
from young teens to matures, well beyond there sixties. However, the baby boomer generation, which
is made up of persons in their forties and fifties, does have a large amount of buyer power. Several
recent trends have affected the luxury jewelry market. Men s jewelry sales increased by over 150%

28. The Art Of Loving By Erich Fromm Analysis
Hi, there. Well, I happened to write an article on ???LOVE??? for my publication book.
??Love??
What is love? Love is not what you assume it is. That s why so many marriages end in divorce. People
get a hormonal rush when they re around a person and think they re in love, and believe that person is
the one. Not even close. True love creeps up on you over a long period of time. It s NOT that powerful
feeling of I must have this person. Instead, it s a slow build up. When you truly love someone you don
t have to ask yourself if it s love. You re not even ASKING yourself. After having this person in your
life for quite some time, one day you wake up and automatically know. It s not an emotional rush of

It s how we treat another and act towards him or her that shows whether we actually really truly Love
and value the person or not.
From The Art of Loving, by Erich Fromm
If two people who have been strangers as all of us are suddenly let the wall between them break down,
and feel close, feel one, this moment of oneness is one of the most exhilarating, most exciting
experiences in life. It is all the more wonderful and miraculous for person who have been shut off,
isolated, without love. This miracle of sudden intimacy is often facilitated if it is combined with, or
initiated by, sexual attraction and consummation. However, this type of love is by its very nature not
lasting. As the two persons become better acquainted and more familiar to each other, their intimacy
loses more and more its miraculous character, until their antagonism, their disappointments, their
mutual boredom kill whatever is left of the initial excitement. Yet, in the beginning they do not know
all this: in fact, they take the intensity of the infatuation, this being crazy about each other, for proof of
the intensity of their love, while it may only prove the degree of their preceding loneliness.
This experience of sudden intimacy is by its very nature very short lived. After the stranger has

29. Most Important Qualities Of The ANZAC Legend
The ANZAC Legend is said to contain some of the most important qualities of Australians and New
Zealanders today. Sir John Monash, Commander of the Australian forces on the Western Front, later
wrote of the Australians as intelligent, physically superior, independent, resourceful, brave and easy to
lead but difficult to drive (Cameron, Young, Lawless, 2002, pg 49). Even though Australians display
these qualities, this Legend is no longer relevant in society today due to the fact that it excludes
Australians who aren t from a white European background, is biased towards the qualities of
Australians and it brands them as the Legend states.

254). These qualities are then heavily recognised in Australia s National Identity. Simpson and his
donkey is an excellent demonstration of the ANZAC Legend. The courage John Simpson showed
when he lead his donkey through heavy fire to rescue the wounded combined with the mateship he
demonstrated towards other ANZAC soldiers is a clear demonstration of the qualities of the Legend in
action (Cameron, Young, Lawless, 2002, p. 51). He became a familiar sight to all and the actions he
demonstrated are still heavily linked to the ANZAC Legend today.
The ANZAC Legend today is an important aspect of Australia s history and is significant to all
Australian s today. It is believed that the importance of the Gallipoli Campaign is due to the fact that
this was the first War Australia fought in as a nation and that in the first news report which reached
Australia, the soldiers were praised for their courage and gallantry (Carrodus, et al., 2012). This
Legend is heavily praised in Australia and it is of very high importance. ANZAC Day,
commemorating the Gallipoli landing became a public holiday in 1927, celebrated on the 25th of
April, and each year more and more people are taking part in ANZAC celebrations, such as dawn
services and marches (Carrodus, 2012). During the 1980 s, ANZAC Day has grown in significance.
Reasons for this include the popularity of films and documentaries such

Farewell Papaji begins with Hasmukh trying to have sex with his wife at 12:30 in the morning because
his father in law is sleeping. However, as he tries to wake up his wife, their dog, Bobby, bites him.
Hasmukh falls to the floor and his father in law rushes into Hasmukh s bedroom and asks what
happened. But he is more worried about the dog than his son in law: This house is causing [Bobby] a
lot of psychological damage. This scene places Hasmukh at the bottom of the family hierarchy, in
which the dog gets more respect than him. After the mini introduction the episode airs the title
sequence, introducing the cast members and theme song. Majority of the cast is Asian, just like the
cast members of Master of None. The difference between Master of None s title sequence and Brown
Nation s title sequence is that Brown Nation has a theme song. There are no words to the song, but the
sounds can be described as Indian beats. Once all the members are introduced, the final part of the title
sequence is a picture of Hasmukh holding a vase of flowers and sitting directly under a photograph of
President Barack Obama, and two American flags. This visual portrays Hasmukh as an Indian, but
also as an Indian American struggling to keep his life together or even fit in New York City, just like

32. Film Analysis Of Robert Altman s Gosford Park
Set in the 1930s, near the end of the era of domestic service in the U.K, Robert Altman s Gosford Park
through its film design and its usage of heritages spaces and period details examines the separate
worlds upstairs and downstairs of rich society people and their servants at a country mansion.
Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state
named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where everything
runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their considerable leisure and
in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for the comfort of their
employers. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But all is not as it seems. Part
comedy of manners and part mystery, the film is a moving portrait of events that bridge generations,
class, sex, tragic personal history and culminate in a murder.
Ultimately revealing the intricate relations of the above and below stairs worlds with great clarity,
Gosford Park illuminates a society and way of life quickly coming to an end as it is a time when
World War II has not yet started, but the status quo has begun to shift away from the strict social
structure so integral to England for hundreds of years.
