Beyond the EU: DORA and NIS 2 Directive's Global Impact
Evaluation Question 4
1. Who would be the
audience of your media
product?
Evaluation Question 4
2. Age
In terms of age, I want my magazine to appeal to people roughly between the
ages of 14 to 20. I have chosen this range of ages due to the fact that most
things will strictly be relevant to this group, especially because people this age
will most likely still be in education or thinking about their next steps. Most things
I'm talking about will not be as relevant to someone in primary school compared
to that of a sixth form pupil. At the same time I want my product to appeal to as
many people as possible.
In the same sense, my magazine will not be relevant or appealing to those aged
over 25 because they will not still be at school / university and are probably
working. The elderly (65+) wouldn’t be interested in my magazine because they
have different priorities and what I talk about may not be relatable to them.
3. Gender
My magazine will be targeted at both males and females. This is to maximize
the amount of people that can buy my product. I think It will appeal to both men
and women due to the fact that they are both equally influential in the music
industry and therefore they can both have an interest in music.
Males may be drawn towards my product in particular due to the high interest in
the music lifestyle. A lot of music culture, particularly rap, is portrayed by men.
Females on the other hand, may not be so interested on the rap aspect as its is
only a minority of women that are genuinely interested. But they are usually
more interested in other genres of music.
4. Client Profile
Name: Josh Williams
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Occupation: Currently in Sixth Form studying A Level
Business, Music and English. In his spare time he
goes to work at his local JD Sports.
Location: South East London
Interests and Hobbies: Josh is interested in the
music industry hence the reason he studies it for A
Level in hopes to be in the industry in the future.
He also has a particular interest in the fashion
industry and enjoys clothes shopping when he gets
the chance.
5. Social Class
My media product would be targeted towards all social classes
preferably. My magazine would be priced around £3.00. I think
this is a reasonable price for a magazine that would be
produced every month.
Because of the price I believe it is a small investment for people
of all social classes that is affordable and worthwhile.
Furthermore, besides the price, the article and front cover depict
and talk about two artists from a working class background of
urban tradition.
6. Ethnicity
My product will appeal to those of all ethnicities but it is
important that they like the genre of music that is being talked
about.
Steroetypically, in the afrobeats genre and grime genre the
majority of artists are of black origin, but there are many
successful artists of other nationalities and backgrounds.
Because of the balance between all ethnicities in the industry I
believe it may appeal to all ethnicities but it’s safe to say that it is
more likely to appeal to black people in London.
7. Sexuality
In Hip-Hop, grime and afro-beat, there isn’t a particular sexuality
targeted though if there was it would be mostly heterosexual
audiences. I believe this is because most artists associated with the
genre seem to be of that sexuality. However this does not mean
audiences of other sexualities cannot be targeted though
stereotypically I have found that the genre consists mostly of artists
considered to be heterosexual and therefore it will appeal to them
more.
In conclusion, there is not a strong homosexual following or many
homosexual artists and therefore my magazine will be targeted towards
heterosexual audiences.
