3. Research
• The strengths of research were finding out new magazine techniques and getting good
ideas how to create a fashion magazine front cover and double page spread. The mood
board helped me get ideas for the magazine like iconic pictures and colour pastels. The
magazines I researched showed that Diana was influential and an icon. One of the
double page spreads inspired to have a pink feminine background for my magazine and
it made me realise that fonts can be look feminine. My research gave me the idea of
having gold on the outline of the magazine cover.
• Ten people answered my questionnaire, almost everyone liked Diana so I knew the
magazine would be popular. On the questionnaires it showed that people liked pictures
in magazines so I knew it would be good to have lots of Diana in the magazine. The two
people I interviewed were female and they gave me their opinions. They both liked
Princess Diana.
• The weaknesses of research was finding a double page spread of a magazine was
difficult to find on the internet especially from royal magazine or fashion magazines.
The magazine was aimed at females however on the questionnaires most people were
male who answered. I only did two interviews, so doing more could’ve been better.
4. Planning
• The strengths of planning was that I used Photoshop to get rid of
backgrounds and change the backgrounds. This helped me become more
confident using Photoshop and tools like magic wand, paint bucket and
lasso tools. I also experimented with background colours because I wanted
to see which looked best on the front cover. I collected a lot of font styles
from 1001 fonts and chose which ones looked well suited and looked
feminine and royal styled. I also chose the picture I was going to use for
the cover.
• The weaknesses of planning was remembering everything how to do
everything in Photoshop I should have written down more detailed
instructions of what to do on Photoshop. It would’ve been better if I
included other people in my planning not just Diana like Princesses Kate or
Anne, Meghan Markle or the Queen.
5. Time Management
• The strengths of time management were that I managed to stick to the
schedule and deadlines for each week. I wrote the article during half term
holiday thinking up ideas for the magazine which saved a lot of time in
lessons, when I got back to college I just had to type it up in word. Getting
the pictures and fonts in pre production made the final production of the
magazine cover and double page spread much easier and quicker to
produce. When I did the experiments I got much quicker at using
Photoshop because I learnt all the short cuts.
• The weaknesses of time management were if I had more time I would’ve
had more detail with things, I would’ve come up with more ideas, done
more experiments and more research. If I had more than two interviews I
could’ve had more opinions.
6. Technical Qualities
The strengths of technical qualities
were Photoshop, how it allowed me
to remove the background with the
magic wand tool and lasso tool, I then
used the paint bucket tool to create
the purple background. I created the
golden outline by researching a
golden square and removing the
middle, I put it on the background
layer and put everything else in front.
I always name my layers for different
things so that I know which object is
on which layer. I put all the pictures
and cover lines on different layers this
allowed me to move them around
until they were in the right position.
7. Technical Qualities
Mast heads
Cover line
Dates and
prices
Feature
image
Names across the
model
I made sure I used
professional layouts so that
my magazine looked liked a
real media product
8. Aesthetic Qualities
The pictures
and
background
look eye
catching.
The pictures are
a good size so
that the dresses
can be seen and
they have good
quality.
The contrast
of blue text
and pink
background
stand out
The layout of the
pictures are on the
page by
themselves so
people could save
this page for a
collage or
scrapbook etc
9. Audience Appeal
My audience were mainly female and people who love or have an interest with the royal
family, but mostly it is aimed at young people because they have been born when she was
no longer alive so they would want to investigate more about her and her fashion life.
To make my magazine
appeal to this audience I
used bright colours for the
front covers. I also took a
picture of the now popular
tv series The Crown on the
front cover to attract
younger people. The
picture I chose of Diana
makes her look feminine
and royal this will appeal to
young females and people
who love the royal
family

14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• Making the fonts look fancy was a good idea because it
connects with the royal family and feminism. I agree with
that I could’ve chosen other colours for the front cover
because I did make it very colourful but also very bright.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I
disagree with the colour changes because I thought the
colours like pink were representing feminism and she wore
a lot of that colour and it standing out on the double page
