2. Actors selected (males)
We have chosen these actors
because they are the type of
characters that we want
present to be the bad guys at
the start of the flashback. The
use of black will make them
seem more mysterious and
make it more effective as the
antagonist.
3. Actors not selected
We decided not to use this actor
because he wasn’t the right type of
antagonist. The clothing he is
wearing isn’t appropriate and it
wouldn’t portray him as being a bad
guy. This is because the clothing is
quite light instead of dark.
5. Settings
The first picture shows the setting we are
going to use for the young girl when she is
in bed. We chose this type of room as
there is many pink, girly and child-like
features in it.
The second picture shows the setting of
the older teenagers room. We chose this
location of the room because its more
grown up and has less child-like features in
it.
6. Costumes – The Men
These are the pieces of clothing that will be
worn by the three men. The men will wear a
black hoodie, black jeans and black shoes to
make the audience recognise them as being
the bad guys. It will also be night time when we
film this scene so by wearing dark colours, it will
make them appear more dangerous as they
wont be able to be seen properly. These types
of dark costumes are conventional in thriller films
as they point out who the bad guys are.
7. Costume- The young girl
For the young girl in the flashback, we will
dress her in cute, girly pyjamas. This will
highlight the fact that she is a young child
and will portray her innocence as well her
weaknesses. We will also put her hair in
bunches which is also a stereotype of how
little girls wear their hair.
8. Costume- The teenage girl
We chose simple clothes for the main character
because, in a way, it shows that she is an outcast. This is
because it shows that there is nothing unique about her
and she doesn’t stand out. The glasses are used to show
the stereotypical ‘geeky’ side to her and how she is
unpopular at school as she gets picked on, which is
shown during the school scene in the opening
sequence.
9. Props
Books – held by the teenage girl as she walks down the corridor, these get
knocked out of her hands by the group of girls.
Teddy bear – held by the little girl in the flashback as she witnesses her
mum being taken away by the three men.
Weapons (knife or gun) – carried by the three men.
10. Lighting
1st scene – the lighting will be dull and dark to show that it is at night.
Added on to that we will use a black and white camera effect to make it
clear to the audience that it is a different time frame and to build tension.
As the scenes cross cut between the flashback and the present day, the
black and white will make it clear to the audience that it is something that
happened in the past that she’s remembering.
2nd scene – the lighting continues to be dark but its not in black and white
as it is in the present tense. The lighting in the corridor is very artificial which
shows that something is going to happen.
