2.  Sound effects such as a school bell ringing or the sound of
students talking help to establish the setting of a school.
 A voiceover is used from the perspective of one of the main
characters, typically the victim to create sympathy for the
character.
 A sound track in the background should darker/ sadder towards
the end to emphasis the psychological twist.

3.  Text graphics are designed to look like social media buttons e.g. red box
around a words.
 Black and white effects allow the audience to see the psychological twist
 Low key lighting is used to show the darker mood of the film.
 Dramatic words/ phrases appear on the screen in intervals to build
tension and make the audience question the narrative.
 The pace starts off slower at the beginning and gets faster towards the
end as tension rises and psychological twists comes out

make the audience believe a character is hopeless or emotionless.
 Low key lighting helps to create a darker, serious mood for the trailer,
helping the audience to understand the themes.
 Costume is essential to allow the audience to notice the difference between
characters and their personalities. Typical ‘mean girls’ may wear more
revealing clothes and the victim may have a more bland clothing choice.

5.  High angled and low angled shots are used to show power/ weakness
amongst characters
 Close up shots are used to help emphasis certain themes of the film
e.g. social media
 Long/ mid shots are used to show the characters costumes, body
language and facial expressions
 Establishing shots are used to show the setting being a school/ college
