2. Process
• Filming in the
studio
∝ First we set up the black backdrop
and lights, placing one camera directly
in front and one to the side.
∝ We wrote using a black pen on the
cards, coming up with different things
for each card.
∝ As my friend repeated her dance, we
added more cards to the back after
each take, we used blutack to stick it
up
3. Process
• Selecting Images
and footage
Using the thumbnails I could see
a still from the footage and
could preview them to see
which ones I wanted to use. I
then renamed the ones I want
to use.
4. Process
• Editing Video Clips
For each video clip I imported into
Premiere, I had to clip the footage down
from about a minute long, to roughly a
few seconds at the most. I also had to
crop the video, cropping out the sides
and often bottom showing only
blackness.
5. Process
• Editing Images
Before After
With every photo I used, I had to first open
it in Photoshop. In Photoshop I used the
magnetic lasso tool to cut out the card, and
made the card its own layer. I then made
the background black so that when I placed
the photos in the middle of the screen there
was not a definitive line where the photo
stopped, and the background started.
6. Process
• Arranging timeline
As I imported all the footage into premiere that I wanted, I started to
arrange and crop the videos into the order I wanted resulting in my final
product. To help me do this I used the razor tool and also zoomed in and
out of the timeline. At times I had to move a lot of clips at once by
selecting them all and moving them. To create a black screen I had to
leave a gap in the timeline.
7. Process
• Inserting Audio
I wanted to find some creepy lullaby music, so
I found this one of YouTube.
I used a YouTube to mp3 converter to
download the audio track.
I then imported it into Premiere.
Towards the end of the audio I had to use the
razor tool to cut the audio during a quiet
moment in order to allow me to have the
“please” that was at the very end of the track
at the end of my product.
8. Process
• Exporting
To export my video I first had to
render it. I then exported it as a
media file and set it to H.264 for
YouTube. This made my video
into an mp4 file.
