2. Sherlock Holmes
Using the website pearl and dean, we
looked at the target audience for
films in the same genre as our
opening sequence, so crime thrillers.
The main age group for the film
Sherlock was 15-24. It appealed to
mostly males and AB classes watched
it, which is useful to us as it helps us
determine who are target audience
should be, and the film Sherlock
Holmes gives us quite a broad
spectrum of people we can appeal to.
3. The girl with the dragon tattoo
The girl with the dragon tattoo is a
crime thriller, starring Daniel Craig
who has also played James bond, so
people associate him with crime films
more. From the ages 20 onwards
every age group watched it, but the
highest was in the 45+ age at 29%.
However the other two films both had
younger ages and I think that would
be easier to create as our age group is
also younger so we know what would
appeal to us. Again, 56% of the
audience where med, so I think our
target audience should lean towards
males.
4. The Dark Knight
Although a DC movie, it is also a
thriller and has heavy themes of
crime running throughout, so I
thought it would be useful for my
target audience research. The
largest age group watching was the
25-35 bracket, closely followed by
the 15-24. 67% of viewers were
male, as in Sherlock Holmes, which
makes me think we should have a
target audience of male watchers
as they seem to watch more crime
thrillers than females.
