1. How Effective is the Combination of
Your Main Product and Ancillary
Texts?
2. At the beginning of our A2 course we was asked to
curate a music video, a digipak and a website, the
aim of my music video was by use of different
camera angles, shots and location to portray a clear
story line, with effective use of a performance
aspect. The aim of my Digipak was to follow the
codes of conventions of the indie genre by giving
the fans content, by use of pencil art, typography,
while keeping a consistent black and white theme.
And finally the theme of my website was to
increase the bands fan base by use of blogs, social
media and original music. So although all three
products have different aims, they all contain
consistent themes and the combination of the
products allows for a professional project.
3. Colour Scheme
We kept the products combined by the use of the same
themes and styles, one of which being a colour scheme. I
believe that by the use of a consistent colour scheme
throughout a whole range of products allows fans to easily
recongise your content, the colours I used was white, black
and occasionally red. Using the red not as frequently was
an effective marketing tool for the products allowing
contrast, therefore causing it to stand out. This colour
scheme I combined right throughout all the products, even
on the merchandise following the conventions of my
research.
4. Logo
Right at the beginning of the course I discovered a graphic online which I believed
represented the band perfectly and decided to draw a copy of it myself, then use it as
the bands logo – the key to combining all the products. I believe that using a logo is a
great way for everyone to know what products are yours, to create a synergy.

5. Costume
Another important factor when
combining all three products
was the use of costume, always
keeping the costume consistent.
During the creation and
maintenance of all three
products there was always
careful consideration of what
the band was wearing, even
when casting for the right
people for our project we kept
in mind the sense of style. We
stuck to the indie theme, same
as our genre in all photo shoots,
social media content, music
video shooting to create an
image which thus creates a
connection between the
content I have created.
6. Font
Another key factor in how I kept my
products combined was by the use of
consistent font choices. But during my
website and digipak I focused on using
a type writer font to maintain the
theme of the indie genre. I believe the
font alone has played a key factor in
achieving the combination of three
products as it allows the audience to
see consistency across all mediums
and would be able to recongise it as
the bands branding.
