Bluetooth And Wi Fi Networks
ABSTRACT
Bluetooth and Wi–Fi are two branches of the same tree. They only differ in the way they are used.
Bluetooth is used to transfer data between devices, which are placed near to each other, without the
use of cables. Terminology of Wi–Fi is quite the same but the range of distance between the devices
could be quite large. A typical Wi–Fi network that is being used in a household could have a range
of 200m but a Wi–Fi network that is being used by a business firm could transfer data in several
kilometers.
Bluetooth has a small area of influence (area in which a particular device or network has some
influence). Mostly Bluetooth is used to transfer data between personnel devices such as handsets,
tablets etc. Content that is basically transferred using Bluetooth is usually small, in Mbs, such as
music sounds, low quality, short videos and stuff like that.
Nowadays each and every computer device has Bluetooth enabled in it. From mobiles to tablets,
laptops to desktop computers every single one of them has Bluetooth facility with them. Bluetooth
is a necessity in today's electronic lifestyle. A company that manufactures computer devices would
not prosper in this field unless it gives extra features and when we talk about extra features
Bluetooth is the top priority.
On the other hand Wi–Fi is much more advance than Bluetooth. Wi–Fi has a lot bigger network as
compared to Bluetooth and with a bigger network it means that it is much more efficient and
suitable for large

Objective
To understand the Wi–Fi technology and its applications in Indian business organisations
Introduction
In today's high–tech world connectivity to networks is extremely important for organizations to
survive. Networking is possible of various machines like computers, laptops, cell phones etc. This
term paper talks of Wi–Fi, the wireless technology that allows internet connection to be broadcasted
through radio waves. Its purpose serves directly to the users looking for internet access devoid of
any cords or wires.
What is Wi–Fi?

common in corporate and office environments. 802.11g is compatible with the specs for 802.11b,
meaning it can be used on a network based on b or g versions.
Wi–Fi in Indian enterprises:
In business environments, increasing the number of Wi–Fi access points, by using more channels or
creating smaller cells provides:
 support for fast roaming
 increased overall network capacity
 Wi–Fi enables wireless voice applications (VoWLAN or WVOIP).
LAN user segments like educational institutes and the hospitality industry openly embraced Wi–Fi.
Other enterprises have been slower but many have found innovative ways to use Wi–Fi in their
networks
These include:
 LG Electronics India Ltd., runs business–critical applications like an internal ERP system and
Lotus Notes, and provides Internet access to its plant and executive employees through its Wi–Fi
infrastructure. The 802.11b solution was deployed in its 47 acre campus in Noida. Other than saving

To solve these problems a company can implement Wi–Fi on their network. This can reduce the
price of implementing additional cable in the network.
Wi–Fi technology comes with many upsides, but it also has it downfalls too.
Pros
The major advantage of Wi–Fi is the fact that users do not need to be physically connected to the
network in order to access the Web and network resources. Wi–Fi provides increased mobility.
Among employees, those who use a laptop will worry no more about connecting using a connection
cable. They will be able to move from their office to the meeting room without losing connection.
Besides eliminating much of the need for extensive wiring and dedicated workstation, Wi–Fi means
the Internet is accessible anywhere users can pick up a signal, which allows for greater flexibility in
office configurations. Wi–Fi systems can also be much less expensive to set up, since the main cost
is in the wiring to the main router. If an existing wired Internet network is already in place, adding
Wi–Fi capabilities is relatively simple, with no need to purchase a dedicated workstation. Wi–Fi
systems are also relatively inexpensive to operate and easy to use. For employees and authorized
visitors to connect to Wi–Fi does not present any technical difficulty. Depending on the router type
simply enter the WEP or WAP key associated with your Wi–Fi after double–clicking the icon

Higher Speeds
When we came to 2013 we saw the ratification of a new Wi–Fi standard which was the (IEEE,
802.11ac) which is also nicknamed Gigabit Wi–Fi. With the (802.11ac) it is known to use wider
channels such as (80 MHz and 160 MHz) as compared to (802.11n) which only has (20 MHz and 45
MHz) in the relatively clean 5 GHz frequency band and which can enable data rates of up to around
1.3 Gbps. There are now some pre–standard (802.11ac) products which are already on the market,
with having the approval of the expected standard in late 2013. It was the exact same case with
(802.11n), (802.11ac) early rollouts will mainly be access points. In 2013 there were some rumors
and also announcements of (802.11ac) support in mobile devices. When 2014 came we saw a
widespread adoption of (802.11ac) this has enabled the majority of Wi–Fi clients to support this
standard.

The Success Of Wi Fi Connectivity
Question 1] How would you propose to evaluate the success of the Wi–Fi connectivity initiative at
McDonald's restaurants? Answer 1] Baltzan, Phillips, Lynch and Blakey (2010) stated that success
is difficult to measure. Markova, Aula, Vainio, Wigelius, and Kulju (2007) discussed how tools for
measuring success lies in the fact that success means different things for the different stakeholders
that are the users of the service might emphasize the easiness of use while improved productivity is
often mentioned as one of the main benefits from the perspective of the company. The success of
Wi–Fi can be evaluated on the basis of benefits it is providing to its users and the company which is
deploying that service. Both factors that are usability and business aspects are taken into
consideration for evaluating success. Bradley, Pridmore, and Byrd (2006) explained how IT plan
quality and cultural factors have a greater impact on success .Bradley et al. (2006) explained how
the DeLone and McLean developed a six–factor Information success model ( Refer Fig. 1 ) which
included system quality, information quality, IS use, user satisfaction, individual impact, and
organizational impact to measure the success of an organization. In the case study McDonald failed
to develop the Wi–Fi strategy due to their pay–per–use approach but did not want to miss the chance
of earning extra revenue. So, Baltzan et al. (2010) explained how success could be measured using
metrics

Wi Fi Is One Of The Greatest Features
Wi–Fi is one of the greatest connective technologies available to us today. Wi–Fi uses radio waves –
just like cellular phones, TV and radio – to create reliable high–speed connections between
computers, printers, gaming devices, cameras phones and home entertainment systems. It is not a
secret that wireless technology has become the model for entertainment, communication and
education all over the world today. Now wireless technologies are very important for us so that we
use them in an immense way. Many people all over the world use Wi–Fi in their homes to
communicate to anyone with Wi–Fi connected devices. Schools, businesses, organizations use Wi–
Fi to maintain and improve their quality and productivity. Students use Wi–Fi to learn, research and
submit their homework. Workers use Wi–Fi to stay connect with other workers at work and have
better communication with each other. Family members, friends use Wi–Fi to keep in touch and stay
connected with each other. Wireless communication changes the way people interact and live their
daily lives. There is no wonder why Wi–Fi is necessary for everyday life.
Wi–Fi is a single technology can help make all connections seamlessly in varieties ways. It always
helps us stay on top of our schedules. However, Wi–Fi connects people in a long distance but
disconnects people from around us. Because Wi–Fi is so easy to access and use, we seem to use Wi–

Computerized Mobile Suburban Railway Ticket Tickets
Abstract Today's biggest challenge in current ticketing system is "QUEUE" in booking railway
tickets. In this fast growing world of technology we still stand in the queue or buy with CVM
coupons or smart cards for our suburban tickets, which is more frustrating at times to stand in the
queue or if we forget our cards. This paperless Mobile Suburban Railway (MSR) ticketing is mainly
to buy the suburban tickets which is the most challenging when compared to booking the long
journey tickets through `M–ticket ' which fails with suburban(local travel) tickets. Our MSR ticket
can be bought with just a smart phone application, where you can carry your suburban railway
tickets in your smart phone as a QR (Quick Response) ticket. The ticket will have distinct color
scheme everyday and it cannot be forwarded to another mobile. Our MSR– tickets system is one of
the best opportunities for those who cannot afford enough time to get their tickets standing in long
queues.

Fire Wire Advantages And Disadvantages
Fire Wire is a standard high–performance cable, used to connect multiple devices together or to a
computer. Fire Wire is also capable of very high speed communications and quick real–time data
transfer. It is also called the 'IEEE 1394'. The number of pins on a Fire Wire cable can vary, it can
either have 4,6 or 9 pins. The maximum voltage it can carry is 30 volts. The data exchange rates on
a standard Fire Wire 400, also called the 'IEEE 1394a', can go as high as 400 mbps. However the
new Fire Wire 800, also called the 'IEEE 1395b', has data transfer rates of up to 800 mbps. In the
future the data exchange rates can go up to 1600 mbps and 3200+ mbps. A Fire Wire cable is very
easy to use. It is a plug and play environment which means that the wire can be used as soon as it is
plugged in, no need for system configuration. Using Fire Wire cable is as easy as plugging or
unplugging a your computers power cord. There are quite a few benefits of Fire Wire. Fire Wire has
faster data exchange rates (100 Mb/s) in comparison to USB 2.0(60 Mb/s). A Fire Wire port can
easily be found on most laptops and computers. However there are som down sides to this. The data
exchange rates are very slow in comparison to newer, more widely available connections like USB
3.0 ( 625 Mb/s) or Thunderbolt (1.25 Gb/s). The use of Fire Wire is becoming very limited, most
new computers don't even feature them anymore like Mac's ( even though Apple made them). USB

5 Ways to Boost Your Home's Wi–Fi Network
We're all used to Wi–FI providing us Internet in today's world. It's a great invention because you can
skip one extra wire and just use your device no matter where you are in the house. However, you
can occasionally come face–to–face with a lagging network. Nothing ruins your browsing
experience faster than a lagging Wi–Fi connection.
The good news is that you don't have to suffer in silence. There are some rather ingenious and
simple ways you can boost your home's Wi–Fi network. These easy hacks guarantee you can log
into online banking or watch Netflix in every corner of the house.
1. Remove interfering objects and things away from the router

Keep your router updated
Sometimes the problem is simply in the router. Like all devices, you need to update your router's
software regularly. It's important to check out the version online and to make sure you're not being
hindered by old versions.
It might also be time to say goodbye to your old router and buy a new one. If you've been using the
same router for over 5 years, it might just be coming to an end of its lifecycle. Check with your
network provider if they can send you a new router for free or simply buy one online.
4. Secure your connection
Now, sometimes the problem is not the strength of the signal but the amount of users on it. It might
not even be a problem of people using it inside your home – your Wi–Fi might have freeloaders.
This means that someone in the neighbourhood is accessing your Wi–Fi illegally and using it
without your permission.
It's crucial to secure your router and network. The first step is to ensure your network requires a
password. You can do this when setting up the connection. Make sure you select a proper password

Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network
Vulnerability in the Wireless Network
Rafael Reccy
Seminole State College
Abstract
Wi–Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and
you'll be sure to find their Wi–Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet
being transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is
available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have
come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created
to replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day,
not every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS
like Molta points out, "Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial
of service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it's worse on wireless networks
because not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you're also extremely
vulnerable to physical–layer attacks to the medium" (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some
vulnerabilities will be looked at that can affect Wi–Fi home users as well as businesses that
implement wireless networks because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of
intrusion or disruption attacks. Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to
point out that wi–fi networks can still be operated safely with a high level of security in place.
Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to
perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most
vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a
medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes
to delivering sacred information you must be on

The Problem Of The Homeless Hotspot
When was the last time you went somewhere, and the building was did not offer free Wi–
Fi? In this day and age many individuals are so technically attached, that they are unable to go
places without a Wi–Fi connection. A large convention, in the southern U.S., came up with an idea
that they believe may aid in the process of having Wi–Fi wherever one may go. As well as help
people who have become marginalized in society (Maze, 2015). This idea is known as the
'Homeless Hotspot'. This idea not only is convenient for the public, but it is also giving the homeless
a chance to express their selves in a positive way.
In this case, the 'Homeless Hotspot' idea began to start when the agency phoned up a local homeless
shelter and placed an offer out on the table. This offer consisted of providing each volunteer with a
4G wireless Wi–Fi device, business card, and a T–shirt with their name on it. In addition, each
volunteer would receive $20 a day. On this note, to homeless person this deal sounds great.
However, to some of the reactions the agency got from the civilians were not as pleasing as the
homeless peoples' reactions were. This was because some felt as it was degrading to a homeless
person to use them as a Wi–Fi hotspot. Other solutions that could have been done instead of this
could be; finding an alternative way to make a Wi–Fi hotspot without using a physical human being,
or just deal with the fact there is not any Wi–Fi in that spot, and if one may need it that badly then

ABSTRACT
Wi–Fi Internet access is fast gaining popularity as we are entering the 'unplugged ' phase of
communication technology. This journey towards an unplugged world began with the first telegraph
and first radio. Since then, telecommunication technology has not looked back and has shown its
versatility by contributing to every field of technology. Wi–Fi has developed from synergy of
wireless communication, computer networking and Internet technology. It has radically changed the
way we connect and communicate.Wi–Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is a generic term that refers to the
IEEE 802.11 communications standard for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). Wi–Fi works
on three modes namely Ad hoc, Infrastructure and Extended modes.Ad hoc network is P2P mode.
Ad hoc does not use any intermediary device such as Access Point. Infrastructure and Extended
modes use Access Point as interface between wireless clients. To create wireless networks with a
range of about one hundred meters,802.11 technologyWith proper planning and selection antennas,

Wi–Fi, also known as "wireless fidelity" is a wireless technology based on the 802.11 network. Wi–
Fi is an excellent technology that makes it possible for computers and personal digital assistants
(PDA's) to connect to the internet wirelessly. This technology makes it possible for users to access
data online whenever they are near an access point, which is commonly referred to as a "hotspot".
While there are both advantages and disadvantages of Wi–Fi technology, I believe that the
advantages outweigh the disadvantages and that Wi–Fi will get better, faster, and more secure in
time. During the late 90's the 802.11 network was released for wireless local area networks
(WLAN's). This wireless network allows users with wireless devices to ... Show more content on

Identity theft is huge and a lot of hotspot locations are vulnerable to attacks. As security gets better,
hackers too learn new and faster methods to hack hotspot connections to gain users valuable
information. "T–Mobile and AT&T, the largest providers of Wi–Fi hot spots in coffee shops,
bookstores and airports, don't require encryption of data traveling wirelessly between laptops and
the Internet. Neither do hotels and municipalities with free Wi–Fi hookups in public areas. "If you're
using Wi–Fi in a public place and you're not getting hacked, it's only because there's nobody around
bothering to do it," says Robert Graham, CEO of consultancy Errata Security"(Acohido, 2007). Wi–
Fi users need to be aware of both pros and cons. While users aren't limited to location as they are
with cables connecting them, they are limited when it comes to securing their connection at a
hotspot. Users need to be aware of this and take advantage of the information that's out there so they
can help protect personal information from getting into the wrong hands. Wi–Fi has come along way
since the late 90's, and as long as users stay aware of both the good and bad that come with this
technology, hotspots will continue to expand over the globe.
Some people call it stealing, while others call it borrowing. Most users call it "free loading", and it's
slowly creating more and more problems throughout different hotspots each and every

The Effects Of Wi Fi On The Library
Background Every day, students spend a lot of time and energy in searching for a seat at their
university library. Not only do they have to take the time to walk over to the library from their dorm
rooms only to find out that all the seats are full, but they must also traverse the floors awkwardly
looking for a seat. It would be much helpful if the students were able to find out the number and
location of available seats, without even leaving their dorm room. To solve this problem, our group
has come up with a system which can count the number of people on the each floor of a library. To
eliminate some of the expenses and make the system more compatible with an already constructed
library, the system we would develop would have to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The IT facilitates firm–to–customer, firm–to–firm, and customer–to–firm communications online
and on mobile devices. Hence, this trend enables application developers to tailor services to fit the
needs of each consumer [1].As an application developer aims to satisfy a specific need of the target
consumers, the service quality and the satisfaction of the consumers increase. A service provider
shall adapt its product over time by modifying and improving the service it provides, based on the
consumers' behaviour and response. A service provider must constantly analyse and derive tests for
errors and generalizability while modelling the service as suggested by Figure 1 below[1]. The
advances in mobile data technology now allow consumers to access information ubiquitously,
providing the companies in the service sector with new marketing opportunities. Newer marketing
technologies must be modelled and implemented to adapt to this environment [2]. The authors'
objective is to examine how user mobile Internet usage relates to certain unique characteristics of
the mobile Internet space. As opposed to the limitations on geographical mobility and access faced
by PCs, mobile devices can access data wirelessly almost anytime and anywhere. The South Korean

The other standards which are used in mobile phones are 1st generation, 2nd generation, 3rd
generation, 4th generation, and LTE. The latest upcoming technology is the 5th generation. We can
use the Wi–Fi in many devices like personal laptops, smartphones, computers etc. To obtain a
wireless network computer or any equipment should have wireless network interface controller.
These signals are transferred through a single radio frequency channel. By using multiple
overlapping access points the wireless signals can the transferred to many kilometers. While coming
to the security the Wi–Fi has a much less security than wired networks. From the latest technology
we have many protocols to get a secured network. Wi–Fi can be used in various modes such as
home group, public areas and also in business group. To access the Wi–Fi in various forms we use
routers such as digital subscriber router, cable modem with the help of Wi–Fi access point. This
technology became such an important invention for all over the world.

Abstract – In recent years, the home environment has seen a
rapid introduction of network enabled digital technology. This technology offers new and exciting
opportunities to increase the connectivity of devices within the home for the purpose of home
automation. Moreover, with the rapid expansion of the Internet, there is the added potential for the
remote control and monitoring of such network enabled devices. However, the adoption of home
automation systems has been slow. This paper identifies the reasons for this slow adoption and
evaluates the potential of ZigBee for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover the sharing of a single Bluetooth module between numerous devices has the disadvantage
of incurring an access delay. [4] introduced a phone based remote controller for home and office
automation. The system differs in that all communications occur over a fixed telephone line and not
over the Internet. The system can be accessed using any telephone that supports dual tone multiple
frequency (DTMF). The disadvantages of this system are threefold: users are not provided with a
graphical user interface, users have to remember an access code, and they have to remember which
buttons to press for the control of connected devices. [5] proposed a novel control network, using
hand gestures. The controller uses a glove to relay hand gestures to the system. The problem with
the system lies in the inaccuracy of hand gestures, with the potential for normal arm movements
being inaccurately interpreted as commands. Moreover, there is the risk of user fatigue if repetitive
hand gestures are required. The introduction provides a short review of the existing academic
research into home automation. The publically available research into home automation lies
predominantly in the academic arena, with little industrial research being publically available. The
adoption of home automation technologies into commercial systems has been limited,

Wi–Fi in the Corporate Environment Business is much different today than it has ever been. The
strategies incorporated in the success of a business can be quite complicated and requires more than
just a man or woman with a dream. Success in business is now reliant on the connectivity of their
business to their local area, as well as, the global market place. Wireless connectivity (Wi–Fi) in the
corporate environment is making this possible and beyond possible as it improves. In this paper we
will see some pro's and con's of wireless connectivity in the corporate environment. Corporations
are looking to go wireless for many different reasons. These range from having less wire to ... Show

This is a red flag and a green flag at the same time. If AT&T is charging for data and making
money, then the trend of provider's charging for data could take–off and cause inflation of wireless
connectivity. The upside could be that user's jump ship and begin using other providers instead of
one or two major providers. AT&T charging for data is scary too, since it could flag that they
are reaching the limits of their bandwidth capabilities. It could be safe to say, AT&T has just
figured out a way to make more money without introducing new and innovative technology. In
conclusion, the use of wireless technology in the corporate environment is taking off. It seems from
the research I have done that companies are excited about the progress being made in wireless
connectivity. Wi–Fi is the future for businesses. As more and more companies have traveling
employees and work–at–home employees the demand will grow for wireless connectivity.
Productive mobility is where the corporate environment has come and will continue to go.

ABSTRACT There are many trends in our IT industry. Here we are going to discuss about the
emerging technology in IT (i.e.) Wi–Fi technology. Wi–Fi (wireless fidelity) is a way to connect to
the internet without any wires or cumbersome cables. Wi–Fi technology uses a radio technology
called 802.11 b for the wireless connectivity. 802.11 buses 2.4GHz of band frequency spectrum with
a bandwidth of 11Mbps(802.11a–5GHz,54Mbps & 802.l1g–2,4GHz,54Mbps).In this paper we have
discussed in detail about what Wi–Fi is and How does it work, what the hotspots are and how does
the Wi–Fi technology has been implemented in these hotspots. The Wi–Fi technology finds its great

Over the past several years, the Wi–Fi Alliance has qualified hundreds of products as interoperable.
Standardization will bring legitimacy to this cutting–edge technology. Wi–Fi networks use radio
technologies called IEEE 802.11 a, 802.11 b or 802.11 g to provide secure. Reliable, fast wireless
connectivity. A Wi–Fi network can be used to connect computers to each other, to the Internet and to
wire networks (which use IEEE 802.3 or Ethernet). Wi–Fi networks operate in the unlicensed 2.4
and 5 GHz radio bands, with an 11 Mbps (802.11 b) or 54 IV1bps (802.11 a) data rate. 2. IS WI–FI

Free Wi Fi Is An Impressive Method For Retaining And...
Free Wi–Fi is an impressive method for retaining and attracting customers. Additionally, everyone
wants free Wi–Fi, especially when mobile social networking has tremendously grown over the past
decade. Therefore, due to the explosion of mobile devices, consumers are now more connected than
ever. Thus, they have come to expect businesses to offer free Wi–Fi. Further, free Wi–Fi can be an
effective business strategy, and has proven to be a competitive advantage for a company that decides
to offer it. However, first a business must decide if the service is going to be free to all, free to only
a select few, or a monthly charge. Consequently, businesses that decline to offer the free service, are
at risk of declining foot traffic and sales. Although some of the businesses that decide to offer free
Wi–Fi, may discover that the service can, increase brand awareness, increase the time that a
customer spends on the premises, and increase foot traffic, which in turn, can translate into sales.
Free Wi–Fi is currently available at some public and private businesses. However, a consumer may
decide not to frequent a business that does not offer the free service, instead, choosing to shop at a
business that does. Nevertheless, offering free Wi–Fi can produce additional benefits and
advantages for a business. For example, the business can ensure that the company's website is the
home page of the connection, share real–time offers, and create business specific ads. Ultimately,

The Biography Of Wi Fi Signals
In the world of IT, there are many pioneers that helped contribute to the way we use technology
today, from early ideas of what a computer could be way before one was actually made, to the
inventor of Wi–Fi signals. In this report I will be discussing 6 of them and evaluating which is the
'top pioneer'. Firstly, Augusta Ada King–Noel, known as the Countess of Lovelace was an English
Mathematician and writer during the 19th century. Born in London on the 10th December 1815, she
was the only 'true' child of the poet Lord Byron and Anne Isabella Milbanke (his wife) as all of his
other children were born to other women who were not married to Byron. Lord Byron left England
shortly after Ada's birth and eventually died in the Greek war of Independence 8 years later. Due to
her late–husband's actions Ada's mother decided to promote mathematics and writing to Ada to help
prevent her getting the 'insanity' Anne believed Lord Byron had suffered from. Later, in 1835 Ada
married William King, who three years later became Earl of Lovelace, giving Ada her title of
'Countess of Lovelace'. After furthering her education with scientists such as: Andrew Crosse and
Sir David Brewster, as well as author Charles Dickens to become an Analyst, she met fellow British
mathematician 'Charles Babbage' through her private tutor. They developed an ongoing friendship
and working relationship while famously working together on Babbage's work on the Analytical
Engine. An example of her work on this

This means that traffic generated from users communicating only in the wireless network does not
have to be propagated towards the optical network as happens with RoF technology. Thus,
distributed MAC protocols, e.g. IEEE 802.11b, avoid the fiber's extra propagation delays that
degrade their performance. This feature removes a possible limitation regarding the length of the
deployed fiber while it adds a degree of resiliency to the system since local wireless traffic can be
served even when connectivity with the optical segment is lost.

OPTICAL ACCESS NETWORKS A growing number of providers worldwide are adopting optical
technologies in the access network and towards the client's premises (Fiber–to–the–Home or FTTH)
due to optical fiber's ability to provide huge amounts of bandwidth in longer distances than copper,
immunity to electromagnetic interference and inherent security. Fiber generally should be installed
underground for safety reasons and therefore its deployment is an expensive procedure. This is
mitigated by deploying a tree like network topology where a part of it is being shared by many
clients. Each client is connected via a dedicated fiber to a Remote Node (RN) which in turn is
connected via a single fiber to a CO. In general two technologies can be used for this
implementation

Are Most Americans Connected? Establishing Free Public Wi-Fi
Are most Americans connected? For people living in a city with free public Wi–Fi, always on
Internet is a reality. Feasibility studies have tended to favor large urban areas as candidates for
citywide Wi–Fi, but innovative pilot programs indicate that hotspot networks may be achievable for
cities of all sizes. For example, New York City has established a free, public Wi–Fi network using
public payphone kiosks as the infrastructure for the hotspots. Nearly all cities have a system of
existing payphone kiosks, which in this day of mobile phones tend to attract few users, functioning
more as targets for vandals. When a free Wi–Fi infrastructure is built in a municipality, three
benefits are immediately apparent: Business opportunity enhancement, alteration of commuting
patterns, and reducing the digital divide.
A key consideration for cities interested in providing free public Wi–Fi is the potential impact on
business opportunities in their communities. Increasingly, entrepreneurs and small business
operators actively seek free Wi–Fi hotspots over the course of their business day. Given the choice
between a café that offers free Wi–Fi and one that does not, business people predominantly favor
the location with an accessible hotspot. One has only to look at the success of Starbucks, wired
McDonalds and now even Sheri's restaurants to note the signaling from customers. Consider that
people who are visiting an area are attracted to hotspots in much the same manner as business

world. According to the book, "Its goals include providing Internet access (email plus phone

a medium for education..." This is an important factor because people living in these rural
communities would not be able to afford Wi–Fi when offered if it was not at an affordable rate. This
is because most people living in these communities live a life of poverty and simply cannot afford to
pay substantial amounts for Internet access. There also seems to be a few choices in setting up a Wi–

range from $500 per village to $1000 per village to set up a Wi–Fi infrastructure, to $2000 for a
village–wide solar powered communications station." These numbers may seem to be quite
affordable, but one must understand how many rural villages in India have a need for this
infrastructure. Prices can total up $638 million in order to

The Pros And Cons Of Wi-Fi
Continual advancement in technology has led to the extension of wireless accessibility due to
Wireless Fidelity (Wi–Fi), an important phenomenon that has been impacting the world over the
past decade (Kioskea, 2015). The name Wi– Fi was first coined by Wi–Fi Alliance and it refers to
wireless Ethernet 802.11 which defines standards for wireless local area networks (WLANs). But
since 802.11 was considered too slow for some applications it was surpassed by extensions 802.11a
and 802.11b, and later by 802.11g. Traditionally, this radio technology that uses frequency to
transmit data through air was initially originated during late 1980s and was evolved with the
fundamental objective of making data communication wireless. But today Wi–Fi has become a
necessity for both consumer and enterprise since it does not only represent a means of staying
connected at home or at the internet and checking emails and surfing the web, it is also consumed
by the users for content purposes such as streaming music and high ... Show more content on

One big disadvantage of Wi–Fi involves security since Wi–Fi that are open attract hackers and many
times people using the wi–fi service become victims of identity theft. Wireless network can be safe

College Campus Research Paper
College campuses are like giant mixing pots: overflowing, full of people from different
backgrounds, of different race, ethnicities, religions, etc., yet these people, each with such a unique
upbringing, are all collectively craving the same particular thing. They all are relying on a source
that isn't physically there, isn't able to be felt, touched, or even visualized. Even all across the globe,
wherever you might be, whatever situation you might be in, everyone is either connected to the
internet, or striving to become connected, at that very moment. The internet has become something
so natural in all of our lives, that without it it's like you've lost a limb. It has become more a part of
our lives than even our own family: say you haven't spoken with your family in a couple of hours,
no big deal; say you become disconnected from the Wi–Fi for a moment, it's as if the world is

A Comparison Of Bluetooth Vs. Wi-Direct
Bluetooth vs Wi–Fi–Direct
For this project, we have the possibility or choice to use either Bluetooth or Wi–Fi Direct to

If you peek into the future, it is hard not to imagine an always–on community that features a large
number of connected devices that work together to make your life more convenient. We are now not
quite there yet – the main reason being the availability or lack of that and the power use of an
always–on connection between devices.
From the convenience of digital wallets, to the completely connected home; having a secure,

Once a device is paired, the connection remains active only while in use, a feature that wasn 't
available in previous generations of Bluetooth technology due to difficulty in pairing and connecting
some Bluetooth–ready devices.
For example, if you want to share a photo between two phones via Bluetooth, the connection
becomes active while the move (from one place to another) begins. After completion, Bluetooth
goes back into "standby" mode, meaning it won 't use power when it 's not needed.
Another example that is being thrown around is in the mobile payments (or cash withdrawal) world.
A person (who uses a product or service) enables Bluetooth to move (from one place to another)
money between their digital wallet account and a guiding light–based payment processor (don 't
confuse it with NFC payments). While the two devices communicate, the phone experiences (almost
nothing/very little) electrical storage device loss. Once the move (from one place to another) is
complete, Bluetooth once again enters stand–by mode.
In addition to decreases in electrical storage device usage, Bluetooth 4.0 is fast. I mean, really fast.
By using the 802.11ac rules of conduct you can actually move (from one place to another)data at
speeds of up to 24Mbit/s. This feature is carried over from v3.0, but unlike version

The Pros And Cons Of Wi-Fi In College
How many times did you find yourself on your Wi–Fi compatible device, only to find out that you
have been disconnected from a game, movie, or music you were streaming over Wi–Fi? These
occurrences are not often things you encounter when at home, but when living on a campus with
thousands of people connected to the internet problems are bound to happen. Recently our campus
suffered a problem with the internet causing students to be disconnected from the school's Wi–Fi.
With problems of this nature consistently occurring students are left without a resource to study,
communicate, and entertainment themselves on their free time. This problem concerns me because I
am a student at this university who relies mostly on using the internet.
Attending Norwich University is not cheap and with the added fees the school has, it does not make
it better on the student. Alike other students there is about a $900 technology fee paid along with
tuition which you would expect that for the price you are paying you will receive outstanding
internet results and tech support. We are an academic institution where academics are the most
important part of our daily lives. With the consist failure of the Wi–Fi connection research
conducted by students is not possible and could be a consequence by which a student may suffer

The Usage Of Cellular And Wi Fi Systems
The usage of cellular data has increased dramatically in the past few years. In order to improve the
capacity of cellular networks a number of techniques have been introduced such as massive
multiple–input multiple–output (MIMO) and direct device to device communications. This paper
concentrates on the coexistence of cellular and Wi–Fi systems in unlicensed bands. It compares two
of the more common methods for delivering cellular data traffic over unlicensed bands: traffic
offloading and resource sharing. It also discusses a new hybrid method of transferring cellular data
traffic, by combining both of the previously mentioned methods. Even though transmitting cellular
signal directly over unlicensed LTE (long–term evolution) can achieve higher QoS (Quality of
Service) and efficiency than Wi–Fi system, it is important to have effective resource sharing
strategies to provide good performance to both LTE and Wi–Fi systems in the same unlicensed
band.
First of all it is necessary to understand the terminology used in this paper in particular: unlicensed
bands, traffic offloading and resource sharing. Wireless spectrum consists of two parts: licensed
spectrum, which consists of licensed bands and unlicensed spectrum, which consists of unlicensed
bands. Both unlicensed and licensed bands are frequency bands, which are used to transmit and
receive information. Unlike licensed spectrum, which is owned by companies, unlicensed spectrum
is more of a free space, where users can

virtual networks to resolve the issue. Although this issue does exist on the University of Delaware
campus, it seems to be affecting other college campuses too, and they also need a solution to the
problem. I have had the opportunity to speak to a couple of my friends who go to other universities
such as James Madison University and La Salle University. Both friends spoke about similar issues

Wi Fi : The New Way Of Communication
In today's world, society is presented by new technology all the time. Many incredible
advancements have been made over the years, but few compare to the breakthrough of wireless
connection, better known as Wi–Fi. The creation of Wi–Fi has given a new way of communication
that allows people to communicate with others from all over the world without having to use any

around the world and has not only changed the way people communicate but also how they use
technology in general. DSU is no exception. As a technology based school we rely on a steady Wi–
Fi connection all the time for our academic and personal needs. However, this technology was not
always so widely used and has undergone many changes to get to the state it is now. Today Wi–Fi
has become a crucial technology that many people rely on in their daily lives and it has changed the
world during that process. Not all people may truly understand how exactly Wi–Fi works. Most Wi–

Some people may think of Wi–Fi as just another type of technology that they use in their life.
However, Wi–Fi is changing the way people use, or in some cases

Bluetooth And Wi Fi Networks

  • 1. Bluetooth And Wi Fi Networks ABSTRACT Bluetooth and Wi–Fi are two branches of the same tree. They only differ in the way they are used. Bluetooth is used to transfer data between devices, which are placed near to each other, without the use of cables. Terminology of Wi–Fi is quite the same but the range of distance between the devices could be quite large. A typical Wi–Fi network that is being used in a household could have a range of 200m but a Wi–Fi network that is being used by a business firm could transfer data in several kilometers. Bluetooth has a small area of influence (area in which a particular device or network has some influence). Mostly Bluetooth is used to transfer data between personnel devices such as handsets, tablets etc. Content that is basically transferred using Bluetooth is usually small, in Mbs, such as music sounds, low quality, short videos and stuff like that. Nowadays each and every computer device has Bluetooth enabled in it. From mobiles to tablets, laptops to desktop computers every single one of them has Bluetooth facility with them. Bluetooth is a necessity in today's electronic lifestyle. A company that manufactures computer devices would not prosper in this field unless it gives extra features and when we talk about extra features Bluetooth is the top priority. On the other hand Wi–Fi is much more advance than Bluetooth. Wi–Fi has a lot bigger network as compared to Bluetooth and with a bigger network it means that it is much more efficient and suitable for large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To solve these problems a company can implement Wi–Fi on their network. This can reduce the price of implementing additional cable in the network. Wi–Fi technology comes with many upsides, but it also has it downfalls too. Pros The major advantage of Wi–Fi is the fact that users do not need to be physically connected to the network in order to access the Web and network resources. Wi–Fi provides increased mobility. Among employees, those who use a laptop will worry no more about connecting using a connection cable. They will be able to move from their office to the meeting room without losing connection. Besides eliminating much of the need for extensive wiring and dedicated workstation, Wi–Fi means the Internet is accessible anywhere users can pick up a signal, which allows for greater flexibility in office configurations. Wi–Fi systems can also be much less expensive to set up, since the main cost is in the wiring to the main router. If an existing wired Internet network is already in place, adding Wi–Fi capabilities is relatively simple, with no need to purchase a dedicated workstation. Wi–Fi systems are also relatively inexpensive to operate and easy to use. For employees and authorized visitors to connect to Wi–Fi does not present any technical difficulty. Depending on the router type simply enter the WEP or WAP key associated with your Wi–Fi after double–clicking the icon "Wireless Network Connection". After a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Success Of Wi Fi Connectivity Question 1] How would you propose to evaluate the success of the Wi–Fi connectivity initiative at McDonald's restaurants? Answer 1] Baltzan, Phillips, Lynch and Blakey (2010) stated that success is difficult to measure. Markova, Aula, Vainio, Wigelius, and Kulju (2007) discussed how tools for measuring success lies in the fact that success means different things for the different stakeholders that are the users of the service might emphasize the easiness of use while improved productivity is often mentioned as one of the main benefits from the perspective of the company. The success of Wi–Fi can be evaluated on the basis of benefits it is providing to its users and the company which is deploying that service. Both factors that are usability and business aspects are taken into consideration for evaluating success. Bradley, Pridmore, and Byrd (2006) explained how IT plan quality and cultural factors have a greater impact on success .Bradley et al. Fire Wire is also capable of very high speed communications and quick real–time data transfer. It is also called the 'IEEE 1394'. The number of pins on a Fire Wire cable can vary, it can either have 4,6 or 9 pins. The maximum voltage it can carry is 30 volts. The data exchange rates on a standard Fire Wire 400, also called the 'IEEE 1394a', can go as high as 400 mbps. However the new Fire Wire 800, also called the 'IEEE 1395b', has data transfer rates of up to 800 mbps. In the future the data exchange rates can go up to 1600 mbps and 3200+ mbps. A Fire Wire cable is very easy to use. It is a plug and play environment which means that the wire can be used as soon as it is plugged in, no need for system configuration. Using Fire Wire cable is as easy as plugging or unplugging a your computers power cord. There are quite a few benefits of Fire Wire. Fire Wire has faster data exchange rates (100 Mb/s) in comparison to USB 2.0(60 Mb/s). A Fire Wire port can easily be found on most laptops and computers. However there are som down sides to this. The data exchange rates are very slow in comparison to newer, more widely available connections like USB 3.0 ( 625 Mb/s) or Thunderbolt (1.25 Gb/s). The use of Fire Wire is becoming very limited, most new computers don't even feature them anymore like Mac's ( even though Apple made them). USB USB is the abbreviation for Universal ... Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network Vulnerability in the Wireless Network Rafael Reccy Seminole State College Abstract Wi–Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you'll be sure to find their Wi–Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like Molta points out, "Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it's worse on wireless networks because not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you're also extremely vulnerable to physical–layer attacks to the medium" (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be looked at that can affect Wi–Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks. Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi–fi networks can still be operated safely with a high level of security in place. Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to delivering sacred information you must be on ... In this day and age many individuals are so technically attached, that they are unable to go places without a Wi–Fi connection. A large convention, in the southern U.S., came up with an idea that they believe may aid in the process of having Wi–Fi wherever one may go. As well as help people who have become marginalized in society (Maze, 2015). This idea is known as the 'Homeless Hotspot'. This idea not only is convenient for the public, but it is also giving the homeless a chance to express their selves in a positive way. In this case, the 'Homeless Hotspot' idea began to start when the agency phoned up a local homeless shelter and placed an offer out on the table. This offer consisted of providing each volunteer with a 4G wireless Wi–Fi device, business card, and a T–shirt with their name on it. In addition, each volunteer would receive $20 a day. On this note, to homeless person this deal sounds great. However, to some of the reactions the agency got from the civilians were not as pleasing as the homeless peoples' reactions were. This was because some felt as it was degrading to a homeless person to use them as a Wi–Fi hotspot. Other solutions that could have been done instead of this could be; finding an alternative way to make a Wi–Fi hotspot without using a physical human being, or just deal with the fact there is not any Wi–Fi in that spot, and if one may need it that badly then ... Wi– Fi is an excellent technology that makes it possible for computers and personal digital assistants (PDA's) to connect to the internet wirelessly. This technology makes it possible for users to access data online whenever they are near an access point, which is commonly referred to as a "hotspot". While there are both advantages and disadvantages of Wi–Fi technology, I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and that Wi–Fi will get better, faster, and more secure in time. During the late 90's the 802.11 network was released for wireless local area networks (WLAN's). This wireless network allows users with wireless devices to ... Neither do hotels and municipalities with free Wi–Fi hookups in public areas. "If you're using Wi–Fi in a public place and you're not getting hacked, it's only because there's nobody around bothering to do it," says Robert Graham, CEO of consultancy Errata Security"(Acohido, 2007). Wi– Fi users need to be aware of both pros and cons. While users aren't limited to location as they are with cables connecting them, they are limited when it comes to securing their connection at a hotspot. Users need to be aware of this and take advantage of the information that's out there so they can help protect personal information from getting into the wrong hands. Wi–Fi has come along way since the late 90's, and as long as users stay aware of both the good and bad that come with this technology, hotspots will continue to expand over the globe. Additionally, everyone wants free Wi–Fi, especially when mobile social networking has tremendously grown over the past decade. Therefore, due to the explosion of mobile devices, consumers are now more connected than ever. Thus, they have come to expect businesses to offer free Wi–Fi. Further, free Wi–Fi can be an effective business strategy, and has proven to be a competitive advantage for a company that decides to offer it. However, first a business must decide if the service is going to be free to all, free to only a select few, or a monthly charge. Consequently, businesses that decline to offer the free service, are at risk of declining foot traffic and sales. Although some of the businesses that decide to offer free Wi–Fi, may discover that the service can, increase brand awareness, increase the time that a customer spends on the premises, and increase foot traffic, which in turn, can translate into sales. Free Wi–Fi is currently available at some public and private businesses. Firstly, Augusta Ada King–Noel, known as the Countess of Lovelace was an English Mathematician and writer during the 19th century. Born in London on the 10th December 1815, she was the only 'true' child of the poet Lord Byron and Anne Isabella Milbanke (his wife) as all of his other children were born to other women who were not married to Byron. Lord Byron left England shortly after Ada's birth and eventually died in the Greek war of Independence 8 years later. Due to her late–husband's actions Ada's mother decided to promote mathematics and writing to Ada to help prevent her getting the 'insanity' Anne believed Lord Byron had suffered from. Later, in 1835 Ada married William King, who three years later became Earl of Lovelace, giving Ada her title of 'Countess of Lovelace'. After furthering her education with scientists such as: Andrew Crosse and Sir David Brewster, as well as author Charles Dickens to become an Analyst, she met fellow British mathematician 'Charles Babbage' through her private tutor. They developed an ongoing friendship and working relationship while famously working together on Babbage's work on the Analytical Engine. An example of her work on this ... Abstract– The ultimate goal of Fiber Wireless (FI–WI) networks is to convergence of various optical and wireless technologies under a single infrastructure in order to take advantage of their complementary features and therefore providing a network capable of supporting bandwidth hungry emerging applications for both fixed and mobile clients. The Fi–Wi architecture is based on radio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that traffic generated from users communicating only in the wireless network does not have to be propagated towards the optical network as happens with RoF technology. Thus, distributed MAC protocols, e.g. IEEE 802.11b, avoid the fiber's extra propagation delays that degrade their performance. This feature removes a possible limitation regarding the length of the deployed fiber while it adds a degree of resiliency to the system since local wireless traffic can be served even when connectivity with the optical segment is lost. [pic] OPTICAL ACCESS NETWORKS A growing number of providers worldwide are adopting optical technologies in the access network and towards the client's premises (Fiber–to–the–Home or FTTH) due to optical fiber's ability to provide huge amounts of bandwidth in longer distances than copper, immunity to electromagnetic interference and inherent security. Fiber generally should be installed underground for safety reasons and therefore its deployment is an expensive procedure. This is mitigated by deploying a tree like network topology where a part of it is being shared by many clients. Each client is connected via a dedicated fiber to a Remote Node (RN) which in turn is

  • 35. Are Most Americans Connected? Establishing Free Public Wi-Fi Are most Americans connected? For people living in a city with free public Wi–Fi, always on Internet is a reality. Feasibility studies have tended to favor large urban areas as candidates for citywide Wi–Fi, but innovative pilot programs indicate that hotspot networks may be achievable for cities of all sizes. For example, New York City has established a free, public Wi–Fi network using public payphone kiosks as the infrastructure for the hotspots. Nearly all cities have a system of existing payphone kiosks, which in this day of mobile phones tend to attract few users, functioning more as targets for vandals. When a free Wi–Fi infrastructure is built in a municipality, three benefits are immediately apparent: Business opportunity enhancement, alteration of commuting patterns, and reducing the digital divide. A key consideration for cities interested in providing free public Wi–Fi is the potential impact on business opportunities in their communities. Increasingly, entrepreneurs and small business operators actively seek free Wi–Fi hotspots over the course of their business day. Given the choice between a café that offers free Wi–Fi and one that does not, business people predominantly favor the location with an accessible hotspot. One has only to look at the success of Starbucks, wired McDonalds and now even Sheri's restaurants to note the signaling from customers. Consider that people who are visiting an area are attracted to hotspots in much the same manner as business ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are huge advantages to having access to the Internet in various ways. An extremely important advantage to Wi–Fi availability is so one can access the Internet for information to educate their selves. The Internet is filled with information right at ones fingertips that can be accessed at any time. Some countries such as India have numerous rural communities that cannot access this information. Lack of Internet access in today's world can prove to be detrimental to one's life. This is where the MDG "Wi–Fi for Education" comes into play. "Wi–Fi for Education" is a MDG discussed in the book Designing A World That Works For All by Medard Gabel. This MDG discuss the strategy to provide those living in the developing world with Internet access via affordable Wi– Fi so that education related material could be provided to them as it is to many throughout the world. According to the book, "Its goals include providing Internet access (email plus phone service) to 4 billion people, living in the developing world, for $1/month– and to use the Internet as a medium for education..." This is an important factor because people living in these rural communities would not be able to afford Wi–Fi when offered if it was not at an affordable rate. This is because most people living in these communities live a life of poverty and simply cannot afford to pay substantial amounts for Internet access. There also seems to be a few choices in setting up a Wi– Fi infrastructure in developing nations, including a solar powered communications station. "Costs range from $500 per village to $1000 per village to set up a Wi–Fi infrastructure, to $2000 for a village–wide solar powered communications station." These numbers may seem to be quite affordable, but one must understand how many rural villages in India have a need for this infrastructure. Prices can total up $638 million in order to ... • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Wi-Fi Continual advancement in technology has led to the extension of wireless accessibility due to Wireless Fidelity (Wi–Fi), an important phenomenon that has been impacting the world over the past decade (Kioskea, 2015). The name Wi– Fi was first coined by Wi–Fi Alliance and it refers to wireless Ethernet 802.11 which defines standards for wireless local area networks (WLANs). But since 802.11 was considered too slow for some applications it was surpassed by extensions 802.11a and 802.11b, and later by 802.11g. Traditionally, this radio technology that uses frequency to transmit data through air was initially originated during late 1980s and was evolved with the fundamental objective of making data communication wireless. But today Wi–Fi has become a necessity for both consumer and enterprise since it does not only represent a means of staying connected at home or at the internet and checking emails and surfing the web, it is also consumed by the users for content purposes such as streaming music and high ... College Campus Research Paper College campuses are like giant mixing pots: overflowing, full of people from different backgrounds, of different race, ethnicities, religions, etc., yet these people, each with such a unique upbringing, are all collectively craving the same particular thing. They all are relying on a source that isn't physically there, isn't able to be felt, touched, or even visualized. Even all across the globe, wherever you might be, whatever situation you might be in, everyone is either connected to the internet, or striving to become connected, at that very moment. The internet has become something so natural in all of our lives, that without it it's like you've lost a limb. It has become more a part of our lives than even our own family: say you haven't spoken with your family in a couple of hours, no big deal; say you become disconnected from the Wi–Fi for a moment, it's as if the world is ending. We are now not quite there yet – the main reason being the availability or lack of that and the power use of an always–on connection between devices. From the convenience of digital wallets, to the completely connected home; having a secure, reliable, and sure way to transmit data is truly the last piece to the always–on puzzle. Once a device is paired, the connection remains active only while in use, a feature that wasn 't available in previous generations of Bluetooth technology due to difficulty in pairing and connecting some Bluetooth–ready devices. For example, if you want to share a photo between two phones via Bluetooth, the connection becomes active while the move (from one place to another) begins. After completion, Bluetooth goes back into "standby" mode, meaning it won 't use power when it 's not needed. Another example that is being thrown around is in the mobile payments (or cash withdrawal) world. A person (who uses a product or service) enables Bluetooth to move (from one place to another) money between their digital wallet account and a guiding light–based payment processor (don 't confuse it with NFC payments). While the two devices communicate, the phone experiences (almost nothing/very little) electrical storage device loss. Once the move (from one place to another) is complete, Bluetooth once again enters stand–by mode. In addition to decreases in electrical storage device usage, Bluetooth 4.0 is fast. I mean, really fast. By using the 802.11ac rules of conduct you can actually move (from one place to another)data at speeds of up to 24Mbit/s. The Pros And Cons Of Wi-Fi In College How many times did you find yourself on your Wi–Fi compatible device, only to find out that you have been disconnected from a game, movie, or music you were streaming over Wi–Fi? These occurrences are not often things you encounter when at home, but when living on a campus with thousands of people connected to the internet problems are bound to happen. Recently our campus suffered a problem with the internet causing students to be disconnected from the school's Wi–Fi. With problems of this nature consistently occurring students are left without a resource to study, communicate, and entertainment themselves on their free time. This problem concerns me because I am a student at this university who relies mostly on using the internet. Attending Norwich University is not cheap and with the added fees the school has, it does not make it better on the student. Alike other students there is about a $900 technology fee paid along with tuition which you would expect that for the price you are paying you will receive outstanding internet results and tech support. We are an academic institution where academics are the most important part of our daily lives. With the consist failure of the Wi–Fi connection research conducted by students is not possible and could be a consequence by which a student may suffer from. • 41. The Usage Of Cellular And Wi Fi Systems The usage of cellular data has increased dramatically in the past few years. In order to improve the capacity of cellular networks a number of techniques have been introduced such as massive multiple–input multiple–output (MIMO) and direct device to device communications. This paper concentrates on the coexistence of cellular and Wi–Fi systems in unlicensed bands. It compares two of the more common methods for delivering cellular data traffic over unlicensed bands: traffic offloading and resource sharing. It also discusses a new hybrid method of transferring cellular data traffic, by combining both of the previously mentioned methods. Even though transmitting cellular signal directly over unlicensed LTE (long–term evolution) can achieve higher QoS (Quality of Service) and efficiency than Wi–Fi system, it is important to have effective resource sharing strategies to provide good performance to both LTE and Wi–Fi systems in the same unlicensed band. First of all it is necessary to understand the terminology used in this paper in particular: unlicensed bands, traffic offloading and resource sharing. Wireless spectrum consists of two parts: licensed spectrum, which consists of licensed bands and unlicensed spectrum, which consists of unlicensed bands. Both unlicensed and licensed bands are frequency bands, which are used to transmit and receive information. Unlike licensed spectrum, which is owned by companies, unlicensed spectrum is more of a free space, where users can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My goal is to gather enough complaints from members of the Blue Hen community, take them to the TechDeck in the basement of Purnell, and propose to them my unique solution of setting up multiple virtual networks to resolve the issue. Although this issue does exist on the University of Delaware campus, it seems to be affecting other college campuses too, and they also need a solution to the problem. I have had the opportunity to speak to a couple of my friends who go to other universities such as James Madison University and La Salle University. Both friends spoke about similar issues that I have previously mentioned. Courtney Michelle Clarke, a JMU student, stated, "Everyone connects to the same network (JMU–Official–Wireless) and it is super slow." They both mentioned that all the students are on the same network and that the signal range does not cover the entire campus. Many incredible advancements have been made over the years, but few compare to the breakthrough of wireless connection, better known as Wi–Fi. The creation of Wi–Fi has given a new way of communication that allows people to communicate with others from all over the world without having to use any wires or cords. Today, this revolutionary invention is being used in households and businesses all around the world and has not only changed the way people communicate but also how they use technology in general. DSU is no exception. As a technology based school we rely on a steady Wi– Fi connection all the time for our academic and personal needs. However, this technology was not always so widely used and has undergone many changes to get to the state it is now. Today Wi–Fi has become a crucial technology that many people rely on in their daily lives and it has changed the world during that process. Not all people may truly understand how exactly Wi–Fi works. Most Wi– Fi routers have at least one access point, maybe even more depending on the size of the area it covers, which allows its users their connection. Wi–Fi signals themselves are like radio waves. The difference here is that Wi–Fi is basically two radio waves talking back to one another (Pullen).
