Bat Call Citizen Science Case Study
1. For the bat call citizen science project, the theme was that of deciphering bat calls, with the
objective of figuring if it was a bat or insect call or mechanical noise. We listened to a small audio
clip and used its visual representation, what is called a spectrogram, to help classify bat calls. We did
it in three steps. The first step was to vertically mark the frequency of a sound, then highlight
horizontally any individual bits of sound, and then consult the field guide to identify the sound. For
the second citizen science project the theme was that of looking at old weather patterns with the
objective of using that data to predict future weather patterns. We annotated and then transcribed
what we saw. Basically we were asked if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For both, teamwork affected my experience of participating in this project by helping to validate my
answers and to help with questions I had or to decipher the bat calls or writing. It was nice to
compare feedback on our individual citizen science projects and to figure out what we thought the
source of the call was and what the ship log said. Also getting help with certain classifications made
me feel more comfortable with the answers I was providing and made me feel better that the rest of
the group was also hearing mainly mechanical noises for the bat call citizen science project.
6. Sharman Apt Russell talks about a new way of engaging the world by becoming a more integral
part of it and falling in love with the ways of nature. She even quotes that there have studies that
have shown a connection between long–lasting happiness and engaging with nature.
I do not feel that the first citizen science project executed this because most of the noises we were
hearing were mechanical noises. Although this is a good data point in that it tells us that there are
not many bats and insects in the area where the calls were being recorded, it is hard to feel like you
are connecting with nature when all you are hearing is man–made sounds. One way one could
redesign this citizen science project to incite this fresh sort of engagement would be to have more
varying sounds to classify, perhaps by having recordings from different parts of the country besides
New York, where it is very urban.

The Company Implemented Sap, And Enterprise Resource...
Background In 2012, the Company implemented SAP, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
program. The Global Company has five separate lines of business that were all running on different
accounting software solutions. The project included finance, sales and distribution, asset
management, purchasing, and master data. The 2012 project was intended to move the Company
onto the SAP platform, create efficiencies for the employees, and reduce costs for daily operations.
Due to the project timeline, there were many areas where scope was decreased in order to meet the
deadline. The decreased scope has left inefficiencies in vital operational areas where the Company,
its employees, and its systems are not operating or being used as ... Show more content on

The systems updates would not be limited to SAP. The other systems involved are salesforce.com,
the legacy transaction billing system, the legacy customer statement portal, and a new add–on
system. The primary areas of SAP impact are master data (customer, material, pricing), sales and
distribution (order and contract), and finance (revenue recognition). The impacted functional areas
in the Company are sales, accounting, customer care, system operations, and engineering.
Scope, Budget, Timeline and Resources The objective of the project is to deliver an improved
solution within the current environment. To include enhanced functionality for the business
including a robust revenue recognition module, enhanced contract features, and a well–developed
interface process between Non–SAP systems and SAP. Delivering an enhanced and integrated
process to improve accuracy and user experience between all systems. Allowing for the business to
expand its business within a controlled and accurate process (Datta, 2009). The project will kick off
with a discovery phase in which the scope, budget, timeline and resource needs will be outlined.
Scope is the "blueprint" of the implementation plan and in order to have a successful
implementation, the key is to know just how much to customize and just how much to keep within
the workings of the core SAP functionality (Gargeya & Brady, 2005). The scope of

Analyzing Movie Posters
Devin Morgan
9/13/11
Movie posters are meant to capture the audience's interest and reel them into going to the movie
they are each individually presenting. Some posters do their job in catching the audience's attention
and some just don't create any interest. Whether it creates interest from the audience or not mainly
depends upon the visual aspects of it. These aspects include alignment, repetition, contrast, balance,
direction, color, and font. Other aspects that most posters try to achieve that aren't necessarily visual
are appealing to the audience, showing the purpose, and staying on the right side of ethics. Also
most of all movie posters contain the aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos. To correctly analyze a
poster you have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also from the characters looks and age, it makes you guess that there is a relationship that will go on
between the two them during the movie. Movies seem to always try and create a love story in order
to get the interest of both men and women. The target age of appeal for this movie is the modern
generation but that doesn't mean it is solely focused on appealing to that age group. In this case, this
movie is a sequel. The title Legacy underneath the main title Tron makes you guess from just
looking at the poster that is a sequel. When researched you will find that is based off the movie Tron
that was made in 1982. So in this case it is mainly appealing to the modern age, but you can also
argue that it has an older target audience because older people were the ones that saw the original
movie almost thirty years before. Another major thing you look at when analyzing a poster is its
ethos, pathos, and logos. This poster does a good job of appealing to all of these. Its ethos or in other
words its credibility is shown in the fine print at the bottom and right above the main title. Above the
main title you at the bottom of the poster you see Disney, which is a very credible company that is
known for making very good movies that tend to appeal to the modern generation. When you look at
the fine print at the very bottom you can make out a few of the actors names and the names of
people who helped produce the movie. Most

Recording Studio Music Analysis
Brian Eno said that the recording studio "takes music out of time dimension and puts it in the space
dimension". Eno describes that the recording studio has opened a new world of music– a world in
which the listener can listen to a performance over and over again. Prior to the use of the studio,
listeners could only listen to a performance once when it is performed live, so this opens new doors
for listeners. Listeners now have the ability with studio recordings to "listen again and again to a
performance, to become familiar with details you most certainly had missed the first time though,
and to become very fond of details that weren't intended by the composer or the musicians" (Eno, p.
127). Therefore, this creates a new relationship between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, you could even say that the recording studio opened music up for "fans" today, so that
listeners can enjoy their favorite artists or performances continually as much as they want.
"Tomorrow Never Knows" by the Beatles is an excellent example of Eno's concept as well as the
power the recording studio has. There are so many different sound effects and styles mashed up
within the song; from McCarney's cut, mixed, and reversed solo from their previous song "Taxman"
to Harrison's Indian stylings with the sitar to Lennon's heavily altered voice to the loops created by
George Martin, there is always something new to hear within the song (McDonald and Hudson).
Therefore, "Tomorrow Never Knows" is an intriguingly important song for the "space dimension"
because it invites listeners to listen over and over again. The Beach Boys also build upon Eno's idea
of the "space dimension" in their hit "Good Vibrations", where its unique and undefined nature
develops this idea of sound (Schloss, Starr, and Waterman, p.126–128). From its strange format of
lyrics and verses to its unusual instrumentation, "Good Vibrations" creates a world where listeners
can find new and unintended things very time they listen to the

An OnDemand system has one library server and one or more object servers. An object server can
operate on the same server or node as the library server or on a different server or node than the
library server.
OnDemand client programs operate on personal computers running on Windows. Using the client
program, users can construct queries and search for reports, retrieve documents from OnDemand,
view, print, and fax copies or pages of documents, and attach electronic notes to pages of a
document. OnDemand servers manage control information and index data, store and retrieve
documents and resource group files, and process query requests from OnDemand client programs.
The documents can reside on disk, optical, and tape storage volumes.
When a user submits a query, the client program sends a search request to the OnDemand library
server. The library server returns a list of the documents that match the query to the user. When the
user selects a document for viewing, the client program retrieves a copy of the document from the
object server where the document is stored, opens a viewing window, and displays the document.

Legacy Admission Should Not Be Allowed Since World War I
Legacy Admission As Peter Schmidt of the chronicle says, legacies originated after World War I to
support the immigrant students, particularly Jews. When it became harder to control Jewish
enrollment, in 1920's most respected universities such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton considered
legacy status. Since then it has raised the concerns for lower class families who did not attend good
universities and their children wanted to attend but ended up not getting admission. In 2003, Senator
Edward Kennedy sought legislation to compel colleges to make public their data on legacy
admissions. It didn't pass due to higher education's powerful lobbying. Legacy admission ... Show

It shows how ivy colleges prefer legacy admissions. Although it is not illegal, but recently "two
legal theories" are offered under which "legacy preferences could be challenged at both public and
private institutions under the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause (Ladeswki–578)."
The civil act of 1866 prevents the states from giving titles of nobility. Minorities since most of elite
university's alumni belong to upper class families. Americans are concerned about such type of
practices as "it creates doubt about institution's commitment to meritocracy and equal opportunity
(Mullen–47)." On the contrary, three out of four Americans oppose ancestry based discrimination so
they can create equal opportunities for lower class families to get into elite colleges. According to
Mullen research shows that a candidate has a 30% chance of admission, an applicant with the exact
same academic record and extracurricular activities, but also a parent who attended the school as an
undergraduate would have 75% chance. This shows that due to legacy admission, there's less
academic competition. Moreover, many colleges claim that legacy status is just use as a "tie
breaker" in a very close admission call. However, according to the book affirmative action for the
rich informs that the weight of legacy preference is noteworthy, adding 160 points to candidate's
record. Samuel G.

Claims Adjuster Case Study
After a car accident, the insurance company will want to know the details of the accident. A claims
adjuster will contact you to take a statement. This usually happens a few days after the accident,
which is often a terrible time to make any statements especially if you've been injured and are taking
pain medicine. While giving a statement might speed up the claim process, it might result in a
problem with the claim if you're not careful.
Why Does the Insurance Company Want a Recorded Statement?
When an adjuster calls to get a recorded statement, they'll want to hear your version of events. At
this point, the adjuster will only have the version of the person they insure. He or she will use your
statement, police reports, the statement of the insured as well as witness reports to build a better
picture of what happened in the accident. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether rude or friendly, if the claims adjuster can get you to contradict a statement you've made
previously, they can claim that you're lying. Any statements you make verbally or in writing become
a part of the file.
Reasons You Shouldn't Give One
If you've filed a lawsuit against the adjuster's insured driver, you'll want to be especially careful
about recorded statements. The adjuster is looking for a way to lessen the impact of your suit against
the insurance company. They're skilled at asking questions to ellicit contradictory statements. While
you might see an innocent question when they ask what you were doing that day, they are trying to
find fault. If you were coming from a bad day at work, they might try to say that you were
distracted.
Many lawyers would advise you to give a written statement regarding the events. You'll be able to
prepare this ahead of time and consider your words carefully.

Problems Faced By The And Corporate Culture
4.The problems of the mergers in technology industry During the integration process after merging,
the clash of the human resources and the corporate culture will arise. Merger always takes risk on
some extent, so some employees will feel unsafe about their job, which will cause the lost of the
human resources. What's more, to optimize the new employee structure and reduce labor cost,
amount of employees will face to be laid off. Such a large personnel change will cut down the
investors' trust, because the investor will suspect the stability of the new combined company. Even
two similar technology companies still have different corporate culture which can represent the
companies' brand images and affect the customers' loyalty. They may produce the similar products,
but they may differ in the business ideas and background. Hence, how to integrate two companies'
corporate culture in order to exert the joint corporate value is difficult for the new combined
company. If the new combined company abandoned one of the company's corporate culture, they
will lose part of customers who already lose the faith to the company. How to integrate the two
technology companies' technology is important for the development of the new combined company
in the future after merging. If two companies have lots of overlapping business and their
technologies level are different, then the new company must consider integrating the technology to
complement and balance the technology level so that can

Mercedes Vs Subaru Research Paper
Mercedes–Benz CLA250 vs. Subaru WRX Premium
If you're in the market for a new entry level luxury sedan you've probably run across the Mercedes–
Benz CLA250. The Mercedes starts at $32,400, which is very cheap for a Mercedes, and that's
exactly what they want you to think. Over the years Mercedes has grown to be a respected German
car company making very pricy luxury cars. They all come with extremely fancy heated and cooled
massaging seats, top of the line audio systems and attention to detail that will blow your mind away.
This all comes with a price tag, you must be making a lot of money because after you buy a
Mercedes you better have money laying around, because when a Mercedes breaks, it breaks hard
and your wallet too. Then in 2016 Mercedes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mercedes has front wheel drive. It a disgrace as this is Mercedes very first front wheel drive car
but it does have better fuel economy. Front wheel drive handles awful and is horrible in the winter.
The Mercedes also comes with a sluggish 7–speed automatic. The gear changes are very slow and
make the car even less fun to drive. On the Subaru you have two options. You have the option
between a 6–speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you'll buy this car
with the 6–speed manual. I believe every car should have a manual option as it is the best way to
drive a car. It's more involving and makes you pay more attention to the road. Plus you can't text and
drive or any other distracting weird thing people do while driving. In all when you look at these cars
they are very similar but when you look a little deeper you can tell Mercedes is pulling the classic
rip off I still give Mercedes kudos for their other cars, but this one just doesn't seem worth it to me.
It's not a total rip off it's just you're gonna have to pay extra to get a car with a Mercedes badge on it.
I think it's really stupid and a waste of money but if you're a fan of overpriced European cars then
the Mercedes is the perfect option. The Subaru obviously comes out on top in this one with more
features and a starting price way cheaper than the

1.1 WHY AN ORGANISATION NEEDS TO COLLECT AND RECORD HR DATA
The idea of this assignment is to talk about the importance of managing data in any business
activity, but specifically the one which is of most interest to us is related to HR practices: how to act
when we manage data, how to collect this information and how to store the documents.
One of the reasons why an organisation needs to collect and record HR data is to drive future
business decisions within a company. Everything is based on the data and directly affects the
company's strategy and the company's needs.
Another reason to collect and record data is to comply with legal requirements and legislation, for
example the principle of equality. If we have in our HR department adequate personnel records, we

A Profitable Home Recording Studio For $10,000
Jumping in to starting a business can be scary and investing in a home recording studio is no
exception. There are many things to consider when doing so. How much will it cost? What gear will
I need? What recording jobs will I take on? What will I charge? How will I network and advertise? I
believe that I can open a profitable home studio for $10,000 mixed with my skills and gear that I
already have.
Before I get too in depth I need to discuss some assumptions about the situation. The first
assumption is that I will be a home owner or at least a home renter when I pursue this business
venture. If I were propose that this studio could exist in my current residence it would be an ... Show

If some of my first few jobs are making demos for bands, I want those demos to be as good as
possible since that is one of my biggest advertisements. So when the band is paying for demo
quality they will get better than demo quality no matter what that takes initially. The last reason is
simply to undercut the competition. Like I mentioned previously there are people in town who have
been in the business for quite a while and are really good. However If I can make recordings close to
as good as they can for a fraction of the cost, I'm going to be getting business.
The number one thing that I want to do with my studio is record full length great quality albums for
bands. This may or may not be my bread and butter as far as recording goes but it is what I'm most
interested in. The target price that I want to charge for this is $400 for a ten song album. This is
assuming that there will be a six hour block for drum tracking and eight hours total for tracking
other instruments. If I'm planning to make $10 an hour this leaves 26 hours for me to edit and mix.
Anything out of the norm will be charged for accordingly. For instance if there are excessive tempo
changes in songs or the band wants to go extreme with layering guitars and vocals. Some pieces of
gear that I will need for this application are an awesome analog compressor, stellar reverbs and good
microphones. Since in owning a home studio I wouldn't likely have a studio drum kit or every mic

Compare And Contrast STI And Volkswagen
The Volkswagen Golf R and Subaru STI represent an astounding leap in automotive performance.
Both of these modern family cars are capable of putting Ferrari's from only twenty years ago to
shame on the racetrack while simultaneously being quiet, comfortable, reliable and practical enough
for daily use. Subaru and Volkswagen engineers took affordable family cars and turned them into
everyday supercars but went about the process in differing ways. Understanding these differences is
essential in determining which car is the right choice for a potential buyer. They diverge
significantly in the design of their engines, drivetrains, and overall aesthetics. These differences give

The Golf R, being part of the Golf family of vehicles, is a 5–door hatchback while the current
generation Subaru STI, based on the Impreza, is only available as a 4–door sedan. This allows the
Volkswagen considerably more cargo space in the rear over the Subaru's trunk. The extra room in
the back gives the Volkswagen an edge in practicality without sacrificing performance. Aesthetically
both vehicles received changes to differentiate them from their lesser brethren. Volkswagen gave the
Golf R a redesigned front end, side sills, rear diffuser, larger wheels and an integrated lip spoiler on
the roof. These changes give the Golf a more aggressive look while still remaining understated
compared to the aggressive body styling of the STI. There is no mistaking the Subaru for a regular
Impreza sedan. The STI receives bold styling changes over the Impreza, including a large hood
scoop intake, massive rear wing, wider stance and completely reworked body panels. These changes
give the STI an aggressive appearance that is likely to catch attention. Compared to the Subaru, the
Volkswagen's appearance is restrained and sophisticated. To someone unfamiliar with the Golf R it
could easily be mistaken for a regular family hatchback which is an important selling point for some
and a detriment for others. Aesthetics are important but paint and body work only go skin deep and
are not the defining characteristics of these

then as a high school chemistry teacher. As he taught he continued to write plays, Marigolds of his

Legacy Admissions Advantages
In the United States a system of "legacy" admissions has existed for a long time. Although there are
many admission advantages such as standardized test scores, academics, or family history, legacy
admissions is the most common form of advantage. Every year students with low grades and less
impressive resumes, compared to other applicants, find a way to get in just by relation to a previous
graduate. Routinely, both public and private universities give preferential treatment to children of
alumni which gives even more advantage to the already advantaged. Legacy preferences clearly
violate the basic notions of fairness and equity, that should exist when applying for a university, and
needs to be eliminated from college admissions. Within institutes of higher education legacy status
is valued mainly for economic and community–building reasons. Colleges have the belief that by
admitting children of alumni, those alumni are more likely to stay involved with the school and
donate money. Elite colleges often defend legacy admissions as necessary system for fund–raising.
It is also believed within university admissions that legacies will become very active alumni due to
their family connection with the school. In essence, colleges admit legacies as a way to not only
keep their alumni involved, but to also ensure a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, several colleges and universities that do not employ legacy preferences, continue to do
extremely well financially. Berea College, in Kentucky, favors low–income students, not alumni, yet

legacy preference. Cooper Union, in New York City, which also does not provide legacy preference

The Legacy Of College Admissions
College admissions are simple. They check your GPA and ACT/SAT test scores and see if your
scores match their expectations. If you do, they will take you. If you don't, they will reject you.
What about if your score is in the middle? What if you don't quite meet their expectations, but you
don't really fall below them? Legacy is like a tiebreaker or the cherry on top of the cake, but
currently is a very controversial topic. Being a legacy student can cause a significant impact on the
admission process. It also gives you a huge advantage over non–legacy students. Being a legacy
student has the potential of getting you admitted into the college that you want, even if you don't
meet all the requirements. UW should take legacy into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not that universities and colleges only do this for money, they also do this for tradition, better
reputation, loyal students, and an overall appreciation for the college of the university.
Having legacy students at the institution will greatly benefit UW by receiving donations from them.
With colleges and universities becoming businesses, "the high rate of monetary support by legacies
and their parents is viewed as crucial" for that institution to be financially sound and successful.
Moreover, "over three–quarters of legacies have a parent with a high–status occupation, compared to
about 62% of students with college degree parents and less than one–third of students with no
degree parents." This means that the parents of legacy students are usually wealthier than non–
legacies. This also means that with wealthier parents, the chance of a donation or donations to that
college or university is most likely to substantially increase. Moving on, "legacies arrive on campus
forming a distinct status group that is characterized by an abundance of economic, cultural and
social capital." With economic capital, they are more likely to participate in activities and spend
more money. And it is what colleges or universities desire, more money. By partaking in college or
university activities, the student will grow fonder of it later on and might donate to support the
institution. In the

50 Years With Bigfoot Essay
Convinced that the Bigfoot was extremely intelligent by the third year of the research, I was
persuaded by the evidence, that the Bigfoot was a "human–like" being. This led me to explore the
possibility that the Bigfoot had a complete mastery of more than one language, along with a unique
language of its own.
Performing extensive research, I located and listened to any recording I could locate of a Bigfoot
speaking. Mary Green's book "50 Years with Bigfoot: Tennessee Chronicles of Co–Existence" was
also used as a reference. Mary had compiled a dictionary of "Bigfoot" words, along with phrases

Though Janice still lived on the property her Grandfather had owned, the house was in disrepair and

structurally unsound, so they carefully made their way into the attic. Mary located the trunk with
Janice's assistance. Once the trunk was located, Mary opened the trunk to find the notebook
containing the "Bigfoot Dictionary." This convinced Mary of the authenticity of the notebook, and
that Janice was telling the truth about her experiences. Mary took the notebook. She researched the
words and phrases contained in the notebook. Mary discovered that most of the words documented
in the notebook were Cheyenne. There were also some Cherokee words.
Another example of Bigfoot language comes from recordings I have received from reliable first–
hand witnesses that lived in Texas. One recording actually had the Bigfoot chanting. The recordings
from Texas contained a mixture of languages to include: Native American, Hebrew, English, and
Spanish. Recordings from a trusted source in Alabama revealed the Bigfoot using a mixture of
Spanish and French. The creatures have a "Hodgepodge" type language. The content of this

How Headphones And The Acoustic Transducer Became The Most...
Summary
In the 21st century, sound transducers became the most important building block in all electronic
devices. This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios,
probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to
the acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the
headphones denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what
are the secrets that lie inside?
The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ.
Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as
history, function principles, manufacturing and future development.
The history behind the headphones
The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of
this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering
improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of "first true
headphones" will be left at the reader's belief. Some people may associate headphones' origin to the
engineering of the first Walkman in 1979, while others instead, declare that Beyerdynamic should be
taking the credit. Most of archives and encyclopaedias, such as Wikipedia, say that the first working
headphones were created and sold to the US Navy by Nathaniel Baldwin, in 1910. (Figure 1

Child Care Setting
5.3 For any child care setting big or small, one of the primary responsibilities of provider is to
establish and maintain an accurate and up to date record keeping system in place, to be able to meet
the requirements of government and statutory bodies
Digital record keeping.
Digital technologies and computers have become an integral part of our daily lives. Electronic
record keeping system is an efficient way for recording financial information as long as it is backed–
up and password protected.
Many compatible accounting software's are available that provider complete accounting
functionality for a child care setting. Digital record keeping provides accurate accounting for
collecting revenue, expenses, paying employees, suppliers, and filling tax correctly. Where
appropriate, these records can be shared with new staff and families, taking into consideration the
need to respect the privacy of individual children and families. The advantage of digital records is

This is one of qualities digital information clearly lacks. One of the reasons why many people are
reluctant to digitize their paper documents. Also the digital storage has vulnerabilities like data

setup, the additional cost of making such a transition can be a decisive factor. On the other hand
Paper storage require proper storage space and care to refrain from damage. Therefore striking a
balance between paper or digitized records in a childcare setting entirely depends on the business
size and its requirement. The provider has to decide, which method is most suitable for a particular
setting. Whichever method is chosen, the provider must ensure that the system is safe, secured,

Tron Cons
The film Tron is celebrated and held as a triumph today, but back in the 1980s, the film suffered
from lack of appeal to a wider audience, geared toward more teenage video–game buffs and
computer nerds, with a juvenile story, laced with simple dialogue, and unsophisticated costumes.
Without a doubt, the major appeal in Tron is the minimal use of CGI and spectacular animation that
was used to create its computer enhance landscape. However, "in spite of its groundbreaking use of
computer–generated effects, this costly, somewhat embarrassing box–office failure soon developed a
growing fan base of nostalgically minded computer geeks who ended up bestowing a reputation
upon it that it barely deserves" (Schneider 245). The homage is due in part ... Show more content on

Lisberger is best remembered today for Tron and for directing the underrated sci–fi film, starring
Mark Hamill called Slipstream (1989). "The inspiration for Tron occurred in 1976 when Steven
Lisberger, then an animator of drawings with his own studio, looked at a sample reel from a
computer firm called MAGI and saw Pong for the first time. He was immediately fascinated by
video games and wanted to do a film incorporating them" (Wikipedia). Lisberger teamed up with
writer Bonnie MacBird by researching computer science and video game ideas, and eventually came
up with the bases for the story of Tron. The screenplay was later written by Lisberger, his business
partner Donald Kushner, became producer. Kushner is also responsible for the series Automan (1983
– 1984), TV's holographic crime fighter that looked very similar to Tron by using the same FX.
"Disney decided in 1981 to film Tron completely in 65–mm Super Panavision (except for the
computer–generated layers, which were shot in VistaVision and both anamorphic 35mm and Super

What Does Clay's Semicolon Tattoos Mean?
13 Reasons Why: What does Clay's semicolon tattoo mean? The second season of the hit mystery
teen drama TV series has been rife with questions. One of the most prominent is the meaning behind
a new tattoo that the character Clay receives. Although the tattoo isn't initially finished due to his
fainting, it's a very symbolic act that's actually representative of an actual real life movement
concerned with the prevention of suicide, according to Bustle. The tattoo represents Project
Semicolon, a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that uses a semicolon as its symbol. The
organization aims to prevent suicide and aid those struggling with mental health issues. Amy Bleuel,
the founder of Project Semicolon, believes that a semicolon is representative of suicide because 'a
semicolon is used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The
author is you and the sentence is your life.' ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Interlock Migrates New York City's 911 Archive Data – the Largest Emergency Call Center in the
Nation Handling more than 11 million calls per year, NYC's 911 system is the largest in the nation.
Founded in 1968, it is operated by the New York City Police Department, the Fire Department of
NYC and the FDNY Emergency Medical Services, with the Office of Citywide Emergency
Communications handling interdepartmental coordination. With approximately one billion files of
911 call recordings in an aging archive storage solution, when NYC's 911 archive data needed to be
migrated to new storage, they needed an expert team. The Challenge NYC's 911 system was on an
aging archive storage system that was reaching end–of support. The legacy equipment was
experiencing numerous technical challenges and faced rapidly increasing support costs. The archive
data had also grown exponentially, and there were multiple different conflicting data retention
policies in place. "There was a tremendous amount of data, a rolling retention period, as well as
numerous reports and explanations that had to be provided to the different stakeholders before the
work even started," stated Vincent Guadagno, director of NYC public ... Show more content on

Interlock wrote a custom program to parse through the data, saving the critical files for legal holds
and required retention, while deleting superfluous files. With traditional software, a migration
company would not be able to parse the data as it is in a separate que. But, Interlock's custom
program ran the data through data analysis, and parsed the files individually to meet the highly
nuanced requirements of NYC 911's retention and legal hold policies. While parsing the data,
Interlock also helped NYC 911 define and implement data retention policies that decreased the
quantity of files by almost 50%, leading to lower storage and maintenance

Explain how to maintain records that are up to date, complete accurate and legible
Information that needs to be recorded should always be written in a legible manner.
Legible means clear, readable and understandable. It could be harmful to an individual if other
people cannot read what you have written, for example in a care plan about the way the individual is
feeling.
Records must always be factual and not an opinion. They should include the correct date and a full
signature of the person writing the record. It is also recommended to use black ink. Some documents
will only accept black ink. Information must not be crossed out, or covered using correction fluid.
Always record any information given to you by an individual even if you think it is trivial because it
might help someone else. Always check an individual's care and support plan before working with
them as there may have been changes since you last worked with the individual, even if it was only
a short time ago.

The Rose
The Rose – Janis Joplin and the Lonely Sixties
[1] What is it about the Sixties that still linger in the minds of the American population forty years
later? For many the Sixties was a time of liberation, a time of true freedom, but it was also a time of
struggle and oppression. This was a decade that prided itself on overcoming obstacles of race,
gender, and even sexuality. The Sixties was an experience that many people wish they could relive,
and other survivors of the decade refuse to even remember. Perhaps the one thing that sticks
strongly in my own mind are the passings of many great individuals –– the assassinations of John
and Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcom X. The second half of the decade marks

Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin all passed away in the second half of the decade from
substance abuse.
[3] The music of the 1960's was a way for the people to experience a new freedom, and in most
cases to see beyond the world around drugs was a necessity to see the true reality. Musicians saw
themselves as a tool to open people up to what they believed was the reality of the time. They were
the "means or channel through which their audience passes from ignorance to knowledge, from
ordinary consciousness to ecstasy, from control and inhibition to revolt and freedom" (Goldman
361). It was this path that eventually leads many individuals into the dark and treacherous world of
substance abuse. The Sixties was a time of experimentation, and many people used drugs as a tool
for temporary experimentation, but other were pioneers that sought ultimate knowledge. Those
pioneers, who sought out real knowledge, never came back.
[4] Rebellion in music was also a major effort in music during the 1960's. Not only were women
stepping into the foreground of folk music, but also rock and roll officially took hold in the hearts of
Americans. Those individuals of the Rock and Roll world like Morrison, Hendrix, and Joplin all
sought to gain the acceptance of their fans and the country. Maybe their messages got across, maybe
they didn't, but, regardless, they captivated the nation with their astounding successes and tragic
deaths. The people of

Influential Rhetorical Strategies Of 1984 's Subaru Legacy...
Influential Rhetorical Strategies of 1989 's Subaru Legacy Advertisement The Subaru Legacy
advertisement is found in the middle in May 1989 's LIFE magazine. First, the ad begins to entice
the reader with a black and white photo of the vehicle. It covers two–thirds of the connected page,
and the background looks blurry, it appears to have been taken as the vehicle was being driven. The
first words seen by the reader are "New Maximum Strength Subaru"("New Maximum Strength
Subaru") written in a large font. The rest of the rhetorical strategies reside below the photo and large
text. Within the text, the author speaks to the audience about the Subaru Legacy 's uniqueness,
including its rare engine design, tremendously powered transmission, and its brake and traction
control systems. Then, the author directs and guides the readers to the luxury and comfort within the
interior of the vehicle. To complete the argument, the writer mentions its starting price, and states
the Subaru Legacy is reliable and durable enough for the public. One of the first points in this
advertisement relating to rhetoric is the set of values on which the argument rests, subtly telling the
audience about the strength and durability and how it is inherently good and can be trusted to the
full extent. Throughout the whole argument, the audience is led to believe these claims because the
author uses evidence in the form of facts, especially in this statement, "And if you look beyond its

Case Study: RETT Rentals
It's not rocket science to figure out why so many people, businesses, and venues choose to rent out
audio equipment rather than purchase at full price. When renting audio equipment for a limited
amount of time, buyers see an 80% savings compared to purchasing the equipment on their own.
The demand for audio equipment runs high year–round, but for many events including weddings,
festivals, and business conferences, the cost of purchasing high priced and reliable audio equipment
is not worth the investment, given the duration of their event. This is where RETT Rentals of
Mankato can step in and help. Formed in May of 2018, RETT Rentals is a sole proprietorship

Personal Reflection : A Personal Note On Music And Music
Two days?! How was I supposed to complete a large project for Ethics class in two days? As it
turned out, I was out sick with the flu the day the project was assigned. Of course I asked for an
extension, but my teacher told me not to stress about the assignment, for was confident that I could
complete it in time. I love school projects; I love putting in the effort to make something
extravagant, but how can I be expected to finish this in two days– and on the subject of mass
incarceration nonetheless!
I quickly resolved to compose a song (music is a passion of mine). Later that day during my
independent study, Music Composition and Digital Audio, I started planning and writing my project.
I quickly became anxious about how to complete it in time, and I was frustrated with the
assignment. But I didn't have time to be frustrated by the assignment, I just had to do it. That night, I
spent three hours writing the words and composing the music on the keyboard in my bedroom. I
could write down the lyrics so as not to forget them, but it would have taken too long to transcribe
the notes onto sheet music; instead, I had to trust myself to remember.
Preparing to record the next day, I grabbed everything I might need– a portable audio recorder, a
spare microphone, printed copy of the lyrics. The following day, I took advantage of every spare
moment of the day. I spent 3rd period recording the piano part after learning that my math teacher
conveniently had jury duty. During Digital

Analysis and Critique
The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) project, undertaken by Electronic Data Communications
(EDC) is the biggest government undertaking of its kind. It aims to provide a single seamless
network which would provide a centralized communication to the Navy and Marine. It also aims to
integrate the legacy systems with the new secured environment. The NMCI project aimed to connect
about 400,000 desktops into a common network, which would provide a unified communication to
all Navy and Marine bases (Calbreath, 2004).
Due to the magnitude of the project, it has been subject to much speculation. Despite of initial
claims by the EDS, there have been serious issues. EDS aimed to have 160,000 seats by 2002 ...

The Navy also developed a performance plan in order to measure and report the success of the
NMCI project. GAO's analysis further showed that the Navy had met only 15% of the performance
targets. A careful study of these results shows that if the Navy doesn't implement its performance
plan, then effective result and management cannot be achieved. The GAO analysis also reveals that
the service level agreements of the NMCI is of a mixed nature, with some agreements met, others
not consistently met, while still others not met at all.
GAO's analysis also gives suggestions for the Department of Defense, in order to adopt effective
practice. By adhering to the suggestions given by GAO, the Department of Defense is more like to
get a detailed understanding of significant issues, which will prove beneficial while making
outsourcing decisions, along with suggestions to be kept in mind while making such decisions

Introduction
Here is a small tutorial that suffices you with the basic concepts required to put up eyes on your
robot. Trust me, if you are into robotics, you are going to enjoy the next few pages. After all, making
"a robot that can see" would really be cool! So let's get started!
A vision based robot has an image acquisition device like a webcam as its eyes. Then we need a
processor that can make sense out of those captured images and actuators like dc motors for
navigation. One key point to note is that Image Processing has huge computational requirements,
and it is not possible to run an image processing code directly on a small microcontroller. Hence, for
our purpose, the simplest approach would be to run the code on a computer, which has a webcam
connected to it to take the images, and the robot is controlled by the computer via serial or parallel
port. The code is written in a software that provides the tools for acquiring images, analyzing the
content in the images and deriving conclusions. MATLAB is one of the many such software
available which provide the platform for performing these tasks.

How Corporate Culture Is Important For The New Company
employees will feel unsafe about their job, which will cause the lost of the human resources. What's
more, to optimize the new employee structure and reduce labor cost, amount of employees will face
to be laid off. Such a large personnel change will cut down the investors' trust, because the investor
will suspect the stability of the new combined company. Even two similar technology companies
still have different corporate culture which can represent the companies' brand images and affect the
customers' loyalty. They may produce the similar products, but they may differ in the business ideas
and background. Hence, how to integrate two companies' corporate culture in order to exert the joint
corporate value is difficult for the new combined company. If the new combined company
abandoned one of the company's corporate culture, they will lose part of customers who already lose
the faith to the company. How to integrate the two technology companies' technology is important
for the development of the new combined company in the future after merging. If two companies
have lots of overlapping business and their technologies level are different, then the new company
must consider integrating the technology to complement and balance the technology level so that
can promote the development of the new combined company. If the compatibility of the technology
cannot reach to an ideal level, it will offset the positive merger synergies on some extent and the

Recording Observations For Patients Is Vital

Never record that you have administered a medication or carried out a task BEFORE you have done
so. If you become distracted then you could forget to administer the medication or complete the task
but as you have already recorded it then you and other nurses will assume the patient has had that
task completed. This can become dangerous as it then means that the patient could potentially miss
having the required medication administered. This is particularly important in hospitalised patients
who are receiving several different medications a day and require them to be administered at
specific times, so they each have time to be absorbed into the blood stream and not interfere with
each other. When recording medication you must ensure that you record the type of medication, time
administered, date administered, amount administered and who administered the medication. If also
possible have some witness that you administered the medication and record who witnessed it.
Food and water: When recording the intake of food you must include the type of food offered (i.e.

Beat Detective Narrative
Beat Detective was used to ensure that the drums were in time with the click track. Elastic audio
was used on the bass and guitars, although later in the process the producer felt that the guitars and
bass were still not entirely in time with the drums, therefore the author nudged any bars that where
visibly out of time with the grid in ProTools in time. This process was time consuming, although it
made a real difference to the tracks. The vocals were about a quarter note out of time on 'I Hear & I
Forget', so the author nudged them in time too. The producer then went through each of the
vocalist's phrases and clip gained the words that were not clearly audible amongst the mix. For held
notes, volume automation was used to keep the tails of audio audible in the song. ... Show more

This left the Subkick and M88 for the author to work with. The kick was gated and then
compressed, so the compressor did not reduce the transient peaks that the gate would detect. The
kick had –4dB of compression because it was quite inconsistent in terms of dynamics. After this was
applied, throughout the song the kick had a tendency to poke out here and there. The author used a
limiter to correct this problem and to reduce the kicks dynamic range even further. The author made
a boost of 4.5dB to 70Hz to provide the kick with more thud. The M88 picked up the kicks beater
very well and the author did not need to find that punchy frequency through EQ. In order to separate
the bass and the kick drum, the author added a second EQ and found each tracks most prominent

Creative Writing: What Do Ben And Sophia Have In Common?
What do Ben and Sophia have in common? Ben and Sophia have a lot of things in common, and
these are the ones that stood out the most to me. They both lost something that is valuable/important
to them and that were red. For example Ben lost his red phone that was very important to him. It
was very important to him, because the red phone only rings when there is an emergencies. "
However, it was a lot harder to find a secret agent red phone in a very messy secret agent bedroom."
When both Ben and Sophia lost their things, their emotions were also the same, they both started
freaking out. I inferred this because when I lost something important, which was my journal, I
instantly freaked out. I also inferred that they were freaking out by the punctuation the author wrote.
For example in the text Sophia, Junior Secret Agent it says " The pink flip flops, the purple tennis

Unsafe Home In The Pigman
"Home is where you feel loved, appreciated, and safe" (Tracey Taylor). Home can be a great place,
but an unsafe, unsupportive home can be detrimental to a child. Kids have their life shaped for them.
They will do what they see, and believe what they hear. In the novel The Pigman by Paul Zindel,
John and Lorraine both grow up and live in homes that don't provide them with anything healthy.
Kids and teens that live in homes like John and Lorraine's are bound to follow in their parents
footsteps. Having a safe, comfortable home is extremely important. Unsafe homes often expose kids
to bad habits and behavior. Unfortunately, John has been exposed to abusive drinking and behavior
his whole life. It has become his normal, he and his family, all alcoholics. John even discloses that,
"Bore got a big kick out of it when I was ten years old and I'd go around emptying all the beer
glasses lying around the house" (Zindel 94). Of course, kids see bad things everywhere, but when a

Usually, they get the idea of self–worth and beauty from people around them, especially ones that
make an impact, like parents. In the book, Lorraine's mother does not give her any sort of
compliment or support. Lorraine can never be good enough for her mother. At one point, Lorraine
tells of one example, '"You're not a pretty girl, Lorraine,' she has been nice enough to inform me on
a few occasions"' (Zindel 11). Many will argue that they can get support and compliments from
friends, however, friends come and go and many will become rude and take back what they said.
Furthermore, kids listen to their parents, and strive to make them proud. When thy fall short, and a
parent beats down on them for it, it destroys them. That is Lorraine's case. With years of destructive
words being chucked at her by her own mother, and never being able to please her, Lorraine's self
image and mental state has been

Rally Racing Persuasive Essay
Subaru WRX STI vs. Mitsubishi EVO Someone who has seen or has any marginal sense when it
comes to the world of rally racing, has likely heard of or seen the Subaru WRX STI and the
Mitsubishi EVO. Both these cars have proven to be the forefront and face of rally racing, and even
in regular everyday street commuting and within the car culture community itself. The cars
themselves have gained a large following as they both front similar yet fairly different advantages
and disadvantages to them for instances other than just rally racing. They've both gained reputations,
both positive and negative, yet realistically both hold up over time and are almost always expected
to draw a crowd due to their aesthetic appearance, which pairs nicely with their ... Show more

Subaru took a bold and very risky move in 2005 by upping the STI's engine from a 2.0L engine to a
2.5L. Although it may not sound like a large increase, it proved to be just what Subaru needed to
keep the fire burning when it came to their continuous wins in rally tournaments. The new and
improved STI now sported a 2.5L turbocharged flat 4 engine, now pulling a little over 300
horsepower at stock. The EVO did manage to hold up surprisingly well to the new STI while only
having a 2.0L turbocharged engine; however, "The STI, on the other hand, does not disappoint in
that area. Power from the Subaru's larger 2.5–liter turbocharged flat–4 comes in early and seems to
stay fairly linear where the Evo's power kicks in abruptly." The STI has consistently offered more
popularity among car enthusiasts due to its larger and more powerful turbocharged engine that pulls
more boost, torque, and horsepower over the EVO. The car culture and community around the STI
has continuously increased due to its increased power and "pizazz" then the EVO that can hold up
with the STI, but doesn't offer the immense power STI owners have come to love. The 6 speed
transmission of the STI proved to be of a crucial benefit as it allowed for better control over the
driver's car due to the less limiting gear ranges. This threw the STI

Strengths And Weaknesses Of An Effective Assistant
Strengths:
– Dena gains agreement with the client to ensure they are on the same page.
– After strong closing and foreshadowing the transfer (good!), Dena then goes on to set expectations
for the client to leave a voicemail if the team member is unavailable. Including that it ensures a call
back within 24 hours.
Opportunities:
– Strong intro. During her strong intro, Dena is sure to introduce herself, however, she misses the
opportunity to greet the client using her name. It is important that we do this, in order to make the
call more personable. In an instance like this, where the client gives her name and goes on to explain
the reason for calling in, use the client's name at your first opportunity (at :23)
– Control. (1:25 – 1:33,

  • 4. Bat Call Citizen Science Case Study 1. For the bat call citizen science project, the theme was that of deciphering bat calls, with the objective of figuring if it was a bat or insect call or mechanical noise. We listened to a small audio clip and used its visual representation, what is called a spectrogram, to help classify bat calls. We did it in three steps. The first step was to vertically mark the frequency of a sound, then highlight horizontally any individual bits of sound, and then consult the field guide to identify the sound. For the second citizen science project the theme was that of looking at old weather patterns with the objective of using that data to predict future weather patterns. We annotated and then transcribed what we saw. Basically we were asked if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For both, teamwork affected my experience of participating in this project by helping to validate my answers and to help with questions I had or to decipher the bat calls or writing. It was nice to compare feedback on our individual citizen science projects and to figure out what we thought the source of the call was and what the ship log said. Also getting help with certain classifications made me feel more comfortable with the answers I was providing and made me feel better that the rest of the group was also hearing mainly mechanical noises for the bat call citizen science project. 6. Sharman Apt Russell talks about a new way of engaging the world by becoming a more integral part of it and falling in love with the ways of nature. She even quotes that there have studies that have shown a connection between long–lasting happiness and engaging with nature. I do not feel that the first citizen science project executed this because most of the noises we were hearing were mechanical noises. Although this is a good data point in that it tells us that there are not many bats and insects in the area where the calls were being recorded, it is hard to feel like you are connecting with nature when all you are hearing is man–made sounds. One way one could redesign this citizen science project to incite this fresh sort of engagement would be to have more varying sounds to classify, perhaps by having recordings from different parts of the country besides New York, where it is very urban. ... The Global Company has five separate lines of business that were all running on different accounting software solutions. The project included finance, sales and distribution, asset management, purchasing, and master data. The 2012 project was intended to move the Company onto the SAP platform, create efficiencies for the employees, and reduce costs for daily operations. Due to the project timeline, there were many areas where scope was decreased in order to meet the deadline. The decreased scope has left inefficiencies in vital operational areas where the Company, its employees, and its systems are not operating or being used as ... • 8. Analyzing Movie Posters Devin Morgan 9/13/11 Movie posters are meant to capture the audience's interest and reel them into going to the movie they are each individually presenting. Some posters do their job in catching the audience's attention and some just don't create any interest. Whether it creates interest from the audience or not mainly depends upon the visual aspects of it. These aspects include alignment, repetition, contrast, balance, direction, color, and font. Other aspects that most posters try to achieve that aren't necessarily visual are appealing to the audience, showing the purpose, and staying on the right side of ethics. Also most of all movie posters contain the aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos. To correctly analyze a poster you have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also from the characters looks and age, it makes you guess that there is a relationship that will go on between the two them during the movie. Movies seem to always try and create a love story in order to get the interest of both men and women. The target age of appeal for this movie is the modern generation but that doesn't mean it is solely focused on appealing to that age group. In this case, this movie is a sequel. The title Legacy underneath the main title Tron makes you guess from just looking at the poster that is a sequel. When researched you will find that is based off the movie Tron that was made in 1982. So in this case it is mainly appealing to the modern age, but you can also argue that it has an older target audience because older people were the ones that saw the original movie almost thirty years before. Another major thing you look at when analyzing a poster is its ethos, pathos, and logos. This poster does a good job of appealing to all of these. Its ethos or in other words its credibility is shown in the fine print at the bottom and right above the main title. Above the main title you at the bottom of the poster you see Disney, which is a very credible company that is known for making very good movies that tend to appeal to the modern generation. When you look at the fine print at the very bottom you can make out a few of the actors names and the names of people who helped produce the movie. Most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Recording Studio Music Analysis Brian Eno said that the recording studio "takes music out of time dimension and puts it in the space dimension". Eno describes that the recording studio has opened a new world of music– a world in which the listener can listen to a performance over and over again. Prior to the use of the studio, listeners could only listen to a performance once when it is performed live, so this opens new doors for listeners. Listeners now have the ability with studio recordings to "listen again and again to a performance, to become familiar with details you most certainly had missed the first time though, and to become very fond of details that weren't intended by the composer or the musicians" (Eno, p. 127). Therefore, this creates a new relationship between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, you could even say that the recording studio opened music up for "fans" today, so that listeners can enjoy their favorite artists or performances continually as much as they want. "Tomorrow Never Knows" by the Beatles is an excellent example of Eno's concept as well as the power the recording studio has. There are so many different sound effects and styles mashed up within the song; from McCarney's cut, mixed, and reversed solo from their previous song "Taxman" to Harrison's Indian stylings with the sitar to Lennon's heavily altered voice to the loops created by George Martin, there is always something new to hear within the song (McDonald and Hudson). Therefore, "Tomorrow Never Knows" is an intriguingly important song for the "space dimension" because it invites listeners to listen over and over again. The Beach Boys also build upon Eno's idea of the "space dimension" in their hit "Good Vibrations", where its unique and undefined nature develops this idea of sound (Schloss, Starr, and Waterman, p.126–128). From its strange format of lyrics and verses to its unusual instrumentation, "Good Vibrations" creates a world where listeners can find new and unintended things very time they listen to the ... Legacy Admission Should Not Be Allowed Since World War I Legacy Admission As Peter Schmidt of the chronicle says, legacies originated after World War I to support the immigrant students, particularly Jews. When it became harder to control Jewish enrollment, in 1920's most respected universities such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton considered legacy status. Since then it has raised the concerns for lower class families who did not attend good universities and their children wanted to attend but ended up not getting admission. Merger always takes risk on some extent, so some employees will feel unsafe about their job, which will cause the lost of the human resources. What's more, to optimize the new employee structure and reduce labor cost, amount of employees will face to be laid off. You have the option between a 6–speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you'll buy this car with the 6–speed manual. Both of these modern family cars are capable of putting Ferrari's from only twenty years ago to shame on the racetrack while simultaneously being quiet, comfortable, reliable and practical enough for daily use. Subaru and Volkswagen engineers took affordable family cars and turned them into everyday supercars but went about the process in differing ways. Volkswagen gave the Golf R a redesigned front end, side sills, rear diffuser, larger wheels and an integrated lip spoiler on the roof. Although there are many admission advantages such as standardized test scores, academics, or family history, legacy admissions is the most common form of advantage. Every year students with low grades and less impressive resumes, compared to other applicants, find a way to get in just by relation to a previous graduate. Routinely, both public and private universities give preferential treatment to children of alumni which gives even more advantage to the already advantaged. Legacy preferences clearly violate the basic notions of fairness and equity, that should exist when applying for a university, and needs to be eliminated from college admissions. Within institutes of higher education legacy status is valued mainly for economic and community–building reasons. Colleges have the belief that by admitting children of alumni, those alumni are more likely to stay involved with the school and donate money. Elite colleges often defend legacy admissions as necessary system for fund–raising. Moreover, "over three–quarters of legacies have a parent with a high–status occupation, compared to about 62% of students with college degree parents and less than one–third of students with no degree parents." This means that the parents of legacy students are usually wealthier than non– legacies. This also means that with wealthier parents, the chance of a donation or donations to that college or university is most likely to substantially increase. Moving on, "legacies arrive on campus forming a distinct status group that is characterized by an abundance of economic, cultural and social capital." This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios, probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to the acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the headphones denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what are the secrets that lie inside? The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ. Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as history, function principles, manufacturing and future development. The history behind the headphones The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of "first true headphones" will be left at the reader's belief. • 43. What Does Clay's Semicolon Tattoos Mean? 13 Reasons Why: What does Clay's semicolon tattoo mean? The second season of the hit mystery teen drama TV series has been rife with questions. One of the most prominent is the meaning behind a new tattoo that the character Clay receives. Although the tattoo isn't initially finished due to his fainting, it's a very symbolic act that's actually representative of an actual real life movement concerned with the prevention of suicide, according to Bustle. The tattoo represents Project Semicolon, a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that uses a semicolon as its symbol. The organization aims to prevent suicide and aid those struggling with mental health issues. Amy Bleuel, the founder of Project Semicolon, believes that a semicolon is representative of suicide because 'a semicolon is used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. For many the Sixties was a time of liberation, a time of true freedom, but it was also a time of struggle and oppression. This was a decade that prided itself on overcoming obstacles of race, gender, and even sexuality. The Sixties was an experience that many people wish they could relive, and other survivors of the decade refuse to even remember. Musicians saw themselves as a tool to open people up to what they believed was the reality of the time. They were the "means or channel through which their audience passes from ignorance to knowledge, from ordinary consciousness to ecstasy, from control and inhibition to revolt and freedom" (Goldman 361). Influential Rhetorical Strategies of 1989 's Subaru Legacy Advertisement The Subaru Legacy advertisement is found in the middle in May 1989 's LIFE magazine. First, the ad begins to entice the reader with a black and white photo of the vehicle. It covers two–thirds of the connected page, and the background looks blurry, it appears to have been taken as the vehicle was being driven. The first words seen by the reader are "New Maximum Strength Subaru"("New Maximum Strength Subaru") written in a large font. The rest of the rhetorical strategies reside below the photo and large text. Within the text, the author speaks to the audience about the Subaru Legacy 's uniqueness, including its rare engine design, tremendously powered transmission, and its brake and traction control systems. Then, the author directs and guides the readers to the luxury and comfort within the interior of the vehicle. To complete the argument, the writer mentions its starting price, and states the Subaru Legacy is reliable and durable enough for the public. One of the first points in this advertisement relating to rhetoric is the set of values on which the argument rests, subtly telling the audience about the strength and durability and how it is inherently good and can be trusted to the full extent. Throughout the whole argument, the audience is led to believe these claims because the author uses evidence in the form of facts, especially in this statement, "And if you look beyond its gracefully ... As it turned out, I was out sick with the flu the day the project was assigned. Of course I asked for an extension, but my teacher told me not to stress about the assignment, for was confident that I could complete it in time. I love school projects; I love putting in the effort to make something extravagant, but how can I be expected to finish this in two days– and on the subject of mass incarceration nonetheless! I quickly resolved to compose a song (music is a passion of mine). Later that day during my independent study, Music Composition and Digital Audio, I started planning and writing my project. I quickly became anxious about how to complete it in time, and I was frustrated with the assignment. But I didn't have time to be frustrated by the assignment, I just had to do it. That night, I spent three hours writing the words and composing the music on the keyboard in my bedroom. I could write down the lyrics so as not to forget them, but it would have taken too long to transcribe the notes onto sheet music; instead, I had to trust myself to remember. Preparing to record the next day, I grabbed everything I might need– a portable audio recorder, a spare microphone, printed copy of the lyrics. The following day, I took advantage of every spare moment of the day. I spent 3rd period recording the piano part after learning that my math teacher conveniently had jury duty. During Digital ... A vision based robot has an image acquisition device like a webcam as its eyes. Then we need a processor that can make sense out of those captured images and actuators like dc motors for navigation. One key point to note is that Image Processing has huge computational requirements, and it is not possible to run an image processing code directly on a small microcontroller. Hence, for our purpose, the simplest approach would be to run the code on a computer, which has a webcam connected to it to take the images, and the robot is controlled by the computer via serial or parallel port. The code is written in a software that provides the tools for acquiring images, analyzing the content in the images and deriving conclusions.
