Lydia Traylor, Tarleton State University, JR, Midlothian, Texas, Midlothian HS
Traylor led the TexAnn individuals at the Western New Mexico Intercollegiate by climbing 18 spots in the final
round to tie for third after carding a bogey-free round of 4-under par 68 on the afternoon. Traylor finished with
a score of 144 at even-par and had six birdies and 24 pars overall as the TexAnns won the WNMU Intercollegiate
for the third straight season with a team score of 584 (+8).
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Shelby Turner, Western New Mexico, was right near the top of the leader board after both rounds of the
WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. She opened with an even-par 72 and then after a second round 75 she finished with
a 147 to tie for seventh out of 106 golfers. She tied for the lead in par-three scoring with a 2.75 average, while
also finishing near the top in pars with 24 and birdies with five. So far this fall season she has finished in the
top-20 in all three tournaments and has fired three rounds in the 70’s. Turner currently has a 215-42 win-loss
record (.837), which is the best percentage on the team.
Jelina Fernando, West Texas A&M University, Fernando finished tied for 36th at the WNMU Mustang Fall
Intercollegiate with a 36-hole score of 154 on rounds of 80 and 74. She carded a team-best 74 in the final round
on Tuesday. It was Fernando’s best 36-hole score in her first two tournaments and a career-best collegiate
score of 74 as the Lady Buffs finished 12th out of 20 teams.

TexAnn Golf shot 1-under par on the day to win the
Western New Mexico Intercollegiate by 15 strokes at
the Golf Club of Estrella. Tarleton had scores of 297
and 287 to finish with a 584 (+8) in the two rounds.
It’s the third straight season the TexAnns have won
the Western New Mexico Intercollegiate. Lydia Traylor
led the TexAnn individuals by climbing 18 spots on the
leaderboard to tie for third after carding a bogey-free
round of 4-under par 68 on the afternoon. Traylor
finished with a score of 144 (E) and had six birdies and
24 pars overall. Beatriz Prados moved up five spots to
come in fifth place with a score of 145 (+1). Prados
was 1-under on the final day and had four birdies in
the round, including finishing 3-under par on the front
nine. Casey Wild improved her score by nine strokes
which allowed her to move up 36 spots to 13th with
a score of 149 (+5). Wild shot 2-under par 70 on the
day with four birdies. Breanna Smith finished in 33rd
with a score of 153 (+9). Sarah Gee tied for 36th with
a 154 (+10). Tarleton will compete in the Dallas Baptist
Invitational at the Golf Club of Dallas on Oct. 9-10.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions did not play this week... The A&M-
Commerce men play in the WNMU Fall Invitational
on Monday & Tuesday at the GC of Estrella in
Goodyear, Ariz. The A&M-Commerce women play in
the Oklahoma Baptist Fall Invitational on Monday &
Tuesday at the John Conrad GC in Midwest City, Okla.

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs finished 12th with
a 36-hole score of 321 at the Western New Mexico
Mustang Fall Intercollegiate this week at the Golf Club
of Estrella...WT carded rounds of 312 and 309 in the
20-team tournament...Freshman Jelina Fernando
finished tied for 36th with a 36-hole score of 154 on
rounds of 80 and 74... She carded a team-best 74 in
the final round on Tuesday...It was Fernando’s best 36-
hole score in her first two tournaments and a career-
best collegiate score of 74...Along with Fernando,
fellow freshman Julie Laisney also finished tied for
36th with a pair of 77s...In all, WT had six rounds in
the 70s for the tournament...WT will next play in its
home tournament, the WTAMU Lady Buff Invitational
Oct. 3-4 at La Paloma Golf Course in Amarillo.

of 622. Another top individual performer for WNMU
was Freshman Brenda Dominguez who came close to
ending up in the top-10 as she tied for 13th with a 149.
She came back even strong after a first round 76, she
posted a second round 73, which was the best second
day round on the team. She was one-over on both the
front and back nine and had posted two birdies. The
Lady Mustangs will conclude the fall season on Oct.
10-11 at the Western Washington Invitational.
