LSC BASEBALL
West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Kingsville, who top the standings, face off this weekend in Kingsville as Lone Star
Conference baseball teams play series that will not count in the league standings.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series against every other team during weeks 8-14
determining the LSC Champion. Conference series scheduled weeks 5-7 will not count toward the league standings.
Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and 9-inning contest Sunday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference games,
while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and receive the
league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. This season, the top six teams play a single-elimination
championship on May 10-11-12, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC baseball teams are 65-42 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently 10-13
combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Luis Amaro, West Texas A&M University, SR, INF, Roselle Park, N.J., Roselle Park HS
Amaro had a walk-off grand slam as the Buffs battled back scoring 10 runs in their last at bat for a 16-13 win in the
second game of a four-game sweep of Tarleton State. Amaro hit .467 for the week, while slugging a team-best .867
scoring a team-high eight runs and driving in a team-high nine, including the grand slam. Amaro capped the improbable
comeback as the Buffs entered the inning down seven runs and scored 10 in the frame. He also had three doubles
against the Texans to tie for the team lead, while walking three times and being plunked once. He had 22 put outs in 22
chances at first base and was part of two double plays. He recorded three hits in two of the four games of the series.
PITCHER
Tyler Lesley, Angelo State University, JR, Pitcher, San Antonio, Texas, Brandeis
Lesley was dominant again in his game one starter role, pitching eight innings while allowing just one run in a win
against Eastern New Mexico. The San Antonio native fell just one strikeout short of matching his career high, but still
whiffed six Greyhounds in the game and held them to just a .120 batting average overall.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Nicholas Novak, Angelo State University, had a strong weekend as the Rams swept the Greyhounds, reaching base at
a .667 clip, scoring three times and driving in a pair of runs himself. The Minnesota native had a hit in every game
against the Greyhounds, pushing his hitting streak to five games and his on-base streak to 16 games.
Kohl Ullman, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, hit .500 with eight hits in 16 at bats while leading TAMUK to a four-
game sweep over UTPB...Error-free in 15 chances at second base...Recorded multiple hits in all four games against the
Falcons...Slugged .625 over the weekend and owned a .619 OBP with five walks
Andrew Stubbs, Eastern New Mexico University, registered three triples over four games against Angelo State. The
junior first baseman also played error-free defense in 29 opportunities.
Blake Adams, Tarleton State University, hit two home runs, including a grand slam, for Tarleton. He also led the
team with eight RBI.
Preston Plovanich, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, held UTPB scoreless through seven innings of work in a 13-6 win
in game one...struck out five while issuing one walk and allowing one hit...Lowered his ERA to 2.13 on the year with 21
strikeouts
Jonathan Joy, Eastern New Mexico University, tossed 8.1 innings of relief in Friday's series opener against Angelo
State. The senior pitcher scattered seven hits and allowed just one run. Joy fanned four batters and allowed just one
walk.
Joe Corbett, West Texas A&M University, pitched another gem of a game in a 3-2 WT win the series opener of a
four-game sweep of Tarleton State. Corbett stymied the powerful Texan offense as TSU hit just .130 against him in
seven innings. Corbett allowed just three hits, two earned runs, walked two and fanned 12 for the game. For the
season, Corbett is 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA in four starts, while striking out 42 and walking six as teams are hitting .130
against him. In Corbett's last three starts, he has had double-digit strikeouts in each game.
Evan Pontley, Tarleton State University, threw 6.1 innings and struck out four against West Texas A&M.

ASU went 4-0 with a sweep of Eastern New Mexico on the weekend... Now 13-5 this season... Limited the Greyhounds to
just a .189 batting average on the weekend... Rams are averaging 5.59 runs per game this year...

3. Eastern New Mexico
Last week, the Greyhounds hosted Angelo State in a four-game, non-conference series. Eastern received strong pitching
performances from Jonathan Joy and Enrique Perez. First baseman Andrew Stubbs bashed three triples in the series.
This week, Eastern will head to the Dallas Christian Tournament.
Tarleton State
Tarleton was swept at West Texas A&M in non-conference play last weekend. The Texans will return home this weekend
for a four-game, non-conference series with Cameron.

West Texas A&M
The Buffs improved to 15-0 with a four game sweep of Tarleton State this past week and improved to 11-0 at home this
season...WT hit a blistering .398 against the Texans for the series on 49 of 123, while recording 15 doubles, three home
runs, scoring 47 runs and driving in 42...The team slugged .593 and reached base at a .503 clip with 26 walks and five hit
batsmen...The Buffs went 3-4 in stolen bases and committed four errors leading to one unearned run...The staff had a
6.10 ERA, but held TSU to just .218 from the dish, while striking out 48 in 31 innings and allowing 26 hits, 22 runs - 21
earned and 18 walks...TSU did its damage in the series with six home runs and three doubles, but were unable to do
much else...TSU had three errors leading to five unearned runs...Individually, senior Luis Amaro hit a walk-off grand slam
for an improbable 16-13 win in the second game of the series as the Buffs entered their final at bat down seven 13-6,
before scoring ten runs in the frame and the slam...It marked the first 10 run inning for WT since scoring 10 runs in 22-1
win over Oklahoma Panhandle State last season (Feb. 17, 2017)...On the mound, the Buffs were led once again by Joe
Corbett as he went seven innings in the opener, allowing three hits, two earned runs, walked two and fanned 12 as TSU
hit just .130 against him for his fourth win of the season and third-straight start of 10 or more strikeouts...WT had two
saves in the series as junior Braden Baker and junior Dominic Yearego each recorded a save...The Buffs head on the road
at Texas A&M-Kingsville this weekend, before returning home to host Angelo State in the final non-conference series of
the year.
