1. These are the answers I
received on my survey for
the question ‘what do you
think the song is about?’
2. As I posted this on the
social media sites
Facebook and Twitter, the
majority of people who
did the survey were
16-19. The way some of
the answers are written
are slightly immature but I
thought this would
happen because of the
age.
Some of the answers that
were given were similar to
how I interpreted the song
and how understood the
lyrics.
Although this isn’t how I
understood the song, I
really liked this idea and
hadn’t thought of it.
3. Some people didn’t
listen to the song that
was linked at the top of
the survey, therefore
they didn’t know what
it was about.
Again, because of the
age of the people who
took the survey, there
was a lot of silly
answers.
Serious answers.
4. Although this isn’t
true for this particular
song, this illustrates
how Laura Mulvey’s
Male Gaze Theory is
very true in today’s
media.
This is the most in
depth answer I
received when I
asked this question.
This isn’t what I
thought the song was
saying, but a great
individual
interpretation
nonetheless. I think it
is so in depth due to
them liking the song
beforehand.
5. Another great
interpretation of the
song. I think this
relates to the society
of today as everyone is
trying to copy others to
be liked, and some
even go to extreme
lengths such as
changing how they
look to become
popular.
This is the only person
who simply said they
didn’t like the song,
which I think shows
that most people
either liked it or
neither liked nor
disliked it.
6. Some people simply
weren’t sure on what
the song was about,
and I think this is why
when I do my music
video, I need to include
a narrative so that it is
easy to understand.
7. Getting silly answers is something that happens when you do a survey, so things like
this won’t be taken into consideration when making my product.
Generally, I think most people had an idea on what the song was about and I also got some
interesting responses on what it was about that I hadn’t thought of. Because some people
were unsure or simply didn’t know what the song was about, I think my product needs to
have a narrative so that the meaning is easy to follow and so that everyone watching it can
understand what is going on.
